...you weren't the prince of the devildom.

It was another day filled with princely duties, and another day you find yourself all alone. It was painfully empty in the large bed, and you knew you couldn't do a thing to fix it. Instead you close yours eyes and wish you could have woken up in his arms.

In a perfect world, you'd wake up in the arms of your beloved. Not Prince Diavolo, just Diavolo. You'd wake up to the feeling of kisses peppered against your face, and giggles would fill the room as you try to push him away but he won't relent. "G'morning my love," he whispers between kisses, "We gotta get up~"

"Noo," you whine, and he chuckles, pulling away to look at your cute scrunched up face. "Let's just call in sick and stay in bed allllll day." You peak an eye open to see Dia, who grins.

"Sounds like a perfect idea." And thus the day was spent burning making food, watching shitty tv drama, and cuddling- and of course kissing too.

But when you open your eyes, the coolness creeps in, and the emptiness of the room is unsettling. A knock on the door alerts you of Barbatos' presences, and he speaks from the other side of the door.

"Are you awake?... Lord Diavolo asks me to send his regards, he has another day ruling over the Devildom, and wants to let you know to not expect him until late." Pulling the sheets over your face, you decide to indulge in your fantasy world a little longer before facing the harsh reality.

BARBATOS

It's not that you didn't understand, no you knew perfectly well that Barbatos' job was very important and required him to be away from you for long periods of time. What you didn't understand was that he refused, almost too eagerly, a day off. Diavolo noticed he'd been working him too hard and offered a little vacation. You thought he'd take it, so he could spend what little time granted he could with you, but instead...

"I was thinking we could head to the human realm, and have a nice date there."

"That does sound nice, it's a date then." You press a kiss to the corner of his lip- tease. He's quick to correct your mistake, placing a proper kiss to your lips.

"You... You rejected the offer?" Barbatos undoes the buttons of his shirt, glancing over his shoulder at you with a slight frown.

"Obviously. As much as I'd like to trust him..." He tsks and shake his head, pushing away the thought. "Nevermind. Shall we turn in for the night?" He slips into more comfortable clothing, giving you that cool, unwavering smile. Ah, you don't know how much more you can put up with this...

SIMEON

...you stayed the night.

"Goodnight." Simeon spoke in a soft, quiet voice, his smile kind. It makes your heart do somersaults. You bid him a goodnight as well, and as he goes to turn, you hesitantly catch his wrist.

"You know... You could stay the night... If you wanted." His eyes widen. Stay the night? Something inside him shifts, his eyes filling with what seems to be pity.

"I'm sorry... I can't..." He speaks, gently removing your hand off his wrist and giving you a weak smile. "Goodnight." And then he leaves, not a single glance back. Did you just ruin your friendship with five words? You just wanted him to stay a little longer, just be near you for a while more...

"Stay the night?" You nod, fiddling with your shirt. "Well... I suppose that would be okay." Your eyes widen in delight. Really? He'd stay? He chuckles at your obvious enthusiasm and allows you to drag him back into your room where you set up a spot for you to sleep on the ground.

Simeon shakes his head at this. "I'll take the floor." After a little arguing, you both end up on the bed, both too jittery with excitement of staying near your crush to properly sleep. As you try to close your eyes, try to calm your mind, however, you feel a pinkie brush against yours- and feeling a little bolder, you move your hand even closer. Eventually, your hand in Simeons, and his in yours, you both with small, dorky smiles as sleep comes for you both.

Tomorrow will likely involve a long talk.

SOLOMON

"You're going to be the cutest grumpy old man." It was an offhand comment, something you didn't really think about, you were just teasing him... But then the mood in the air shift, and it got real quiet, and you were suddenly reminded that you wouldn't be growing old with him.

Getting up and then having to help him because his knees are what they used to be. Listening to a song considered old, dancing close to each other and remembering all your beautiful memories together. Eventually dying together.

Ah... But none of that will happen. He'll eventually watch you pass away, and he'll try desperately to hold on to your memory but when your face fades away from his mind who will he become? Solomon gingerly holds back tears that sting his eyes. Damn his immortality, damn it all. He truly wishes he could give it all up for a lifetime with you- it'd truly be worth it.

Okay, so, you've been dating Aaron for a little while, long enough that you guys live together and Jack would like, love you.

Jack would have a lot of friends at school, and all the mom's would be really close and friendly and would hang out for the sake of having their kids hang out, and they'd sort of be friends in a sense. So, one day, (I don't have the logistics figured out, so bare with me.) you'd have been talking to one of the moms about a way to kind of insert yourself into the school a little more and make more friends so that it's less awkward when he wants to hang out with his friends. And, the mom would suggest you host a garden party. So, you'd throw a garden party with all the mom's and their kids and Aaron would just be the most supportive person ever because he knows how stresses you are. Like you'd be planning this for weeks and you'd spend hours setting up. He'd go to the grocery store with you and help you pick out good foods. And he'd help you pick out decorations and hang them all up. And he'd make sure everything was as perfect as you'd want it to be. And ofc he'd be there during the party and talking to the mom's about how sweet you are and about you in general.

and since you're so stressed out about it going well, about the other moms liking you and making friends, if the weather is going to cooperate (you were in tears a few days before the party, the forecast predicted rain😭) and aaron clearly knows how stressed you are, he makes sure you take breaks, provides reassurances and helps you get your mind off it frequently <3 hehe he uses the excuse that he needs attention 🥺🤨🫵🏻 and how can you say no to him 🥰

The TSR Debacle

I reposted an excellent write up this morning HERE about some of what's been happening over at The Sims Resource. Oh darlins.... that's not even close to allllll of the shit that's storming. I'm going to reblog several responses to the absolute piece of corporate drivel that TSR has publicly released to try and smooth out the gigantic backlash against them. Go read the statement by TSR first HERE... so that you can fully appreciate the abject ridiculousness and the corporate snivelling doubletalk that they expect you to swallow....

... and they didn't even ask you out on a date first!

I have had the HONOR to work with many of these absolutely AMAZING ARTISTS for the past few months. To create, side by side with this crew of people has been a dream come true for me. I got brought into MOD Collective back in May and yea... I was a bit nervous about what to expect..... Then I "walked" into the MOD discord and found some of my most FAVORITE custom content artists!!!! Are you freakin' kidding me?!? I get to work with some of the greatest Sims Creators out there.... a dream come true. Better yet, is when you finally get to meet some of your heros and realize that they are all really awesome people too. ..... and then this shit with TSR happens.

.......... I wasn't going to get involved. I was going to just repost a few other blogs...... but this corporate announcement from TSR is so rife with absolute spin doctored, "we-are-losing-customers-so-we'll-say-anything-to-try-and-make-us-look-like-the-good-guys" ludicrousness, that I wanted to add my own perspective of what I'm seeing.

I'm seeing people who've given YEARS of their lives to working with TSR, suddenly getting fired- with no warning, by some nameless pion in TSR that none of them has even heard of before, let alone knows who this person is. I'm seeing wonderful artists who RELY on their income from TSR to put food on the table and a roof over the heads of their families... getting thrown under the bus. I'm seeing people in Shock over how they've just been treated. ..... and now I'm seeing some corporate shill/shitbag putting out the LAMEST excuse imaginable to explain why these awesome people have been kicked to the curb.

Pure, nasty, bullshit.

I have so much more I'd like to say on this subject, but I'm going to leave it with this final comment: TSR doesn't give a rats ass about the people who are creating the content that YOU want. If you love your content creators, then it's up to you to express your "dissatisfaction".

The best way to express yourself is to Vote with your Feet.

Lemme talk about Cait and her grief for a sec because that I keep telling myself that you're different - but you're not line goes hard and I'll tell you why:

So grief, as someone Who Knows, is as much about identity as it is about that feeling of loss, anger, defeat, hopelessness SADNESS and allllll that because fundamentally the very basis of who you are is made up a big part of who you are with - add to that the complexities of a mother/child and mother/DAUGHTER relationship and you're almost guaranteed a recipe for disaster once that basis violently gets torn apart.

So it's not so much about Caitlyn saying that Vi didn't change, it's about her recognizing that she herself DID and that's why they're parting ways now- I'm putting that mildly tbh but it's part of why she's going off the rails, leaving Vi when they need eachother now more than ever but that feeling, and I know that feeling- it creeps up on you when everything is feeling and looking different, just off somehow because it's YOU who's changed because of the insane traumatic impact but maybe you don't realize yet cause its early days so you feel disappointed and irritated by everyone around you and the closer they are, or the closer they get the more alienated and distanced you become because your grief has you in a chokehold but you can't put a mirror to it yet when it's so raw to find that it comes from YOU and you alone and lashing out, even when it feels righteous and good in the moment is ultimately going to destroy more than you can possibly imagine... yeah.

So Cait's next line it's her blood in your veins is raw af and gives the whole exchange a deeper meaning BUT it's the thing she didn't say that gets to me the most.

Cait is, she's the one who changed and if Ambessa hadn't gotten her hooks in her I still think we would've seen Caitlyn spiral regardless because that's what grief does, it's ugly and I fucking LOVE, love love that we're seeing it in a show as big as arcane with a character as liked and as good as Caitlyn because we're all one devastation, one horror and one heartbreak away of becoming exactly that, and that's okay, because we need to see that kind of character development too.

And remember, it isn't all bad- grief really does change with time so I'm sure Cait also gets her 'redeeming moment' at some point but even if she didn't I'd still love her cause I get it, I've been there, and recognizing it in the middle of my tragic lesbian otp breakup scene made me feel so fucking seen you guys have no idea. 🩷

♡ A storm occurs after you have an awful day and cry to his grave 'I wish I was with you'...You meant dead. But well...

♡ That night lightning hits the grave and you wake up in bed to the god awful smell and his dead dirty face looking down at you. You go to scream and he covers your mouth with a cold clammy hand. Going to talk to you and a centipede falls out his mouth making you scream even louder.

♡ You almost knock his head off before he points to a picture on your desk you took of his grave surrounded by newspaper articles of his death.

I think .... ultimately for me it might be the reader in @biteofcherry's Bad Moon Rising. I identified with the way this reader kind of made her own way and unconventionally lived unbonded into her 30s despite it not being what was expected of her as an omega. And then... to be so sought after and fought for - but patiently fought for - by Ari? I'd ... gosh, I'd give anything to be loved the way Ari loves and cares for that reader. There's supreme alpha stuff going on there, but there's also this genuine care, genuine respect, genuine and fierce love and desire. Although he's tamed her, he still loves her wildness. I yearn for that kind of connection.

have you heard about the fic binding legal scandals happening bc of etsy sellers binding & selling hard copies of fics? i saw some authors are reccomending putting disclaimers on their fics to hopefully avoid legal action being taken against them & was wondering if you were planning to do something like that? id hate to see your works being taken down/deleted bc of peoples ignorance

Thank you so much anon! Things are definitely looking up a little, and I've got my fingers crossed that my mood will continue to follow it. 😅 Honestly if I could just have a six month period or so where things were chill I'd be SUPER relieved.

And I have seen it yeah, and I've been watching it fairly closely since this has the potential to alter the fanfic legal landscape that we writers post in regardless of whether or not one of our own fics were being sold. I'm well aware TRT isn't as big as some of the fics at the center of the current legal/ethical scuffle over it, but TRT is popular enough in the fandom that I've kept an eye out on etsy for bound copies just in case. I'm still supportive of people binding TRT for personal, non-commercial use only where no money changes hands, I have no issue with that. That being said, I am considering slapping a general, 'please don't do this commercially' on the fic. I honestly have no idea whether it would actually protect the fic or not, and whether or not that would protect me from legal blowback (my life for a lawyer matt boyfriend to explain this shit). But it wouldn't hurt to remind people that this sort of thing is how you get fics taken down. 99.999% of fic authors do not have the funds to fight someone like the Mouse even if they'd eventually win. So, as much as I joke about wanting Feige to notice TRT and hire me to write Jane into Daredevil, if allllll of us want TRT finished, we need to all play by the rules, especially as Born Again will likely give the fandom (and potentially TRT) a boost in popularity.

So...I may have impulse-purchased my first American Girl doll since 2011 (when I was 7)...

AGblr, meet Rebecca Rubin!

I've been obsessed with American Girl ever since I was 5 and checked out allllll the historical girls' books I could from the library, and my obsession had a resurgence in March of 2022 when my family visited Chicago and, for nostalgia's sake, popped into the American Girl store for like five seconds. Since then, I've been lurking on AGIG and AGblr, admiring everyone's beautiful dolls and collections and wishing I had the money to buy one myself.

Now that I'm working a few jobs and have some money saved, I impulse-bought Rebecca a few days ago as a "congratulations on getting through the semester" present to myself! I've loved her books since I was young (I think she was the newest historical doll when I was into AG—I wasn't following the company closely anymore by the time Marie-Grace and Cecile were released). And back in March 2022 when we visited the Chicago store, I was reading Bread Givers by Anzia Yezierska, a book about a girl from a Russian-Jewish immigrant family growing up as one of several siblings in a tenement on the Lower East Side of NYC...hmm, sound familiar?! (The book is really good, by the way—I'd 100% recommend it!)

I saw the Mercari listing for this girl and immediately fell in love with her sweet face—and the fact that she still had her mostly-complete pre-Beforever meet outfit, with that beautiful drop-waist! (One of my friends kept saying she wished she had that outfit herself. Honestly, same.)

Her hair's a little dry, and I think it's been cut a bit—said friend had to trim an errant long strand that had been missed. Some of her fingernails have been painted (subtly—you can't really tell unless you look closely), and her limbs are slightly loose. I don't have nearly the expertise or equipment to fix any of these things, and honestly, I'm not sure I want to. Maybe when I have some more experience and don’t have to be afraid of damaging her. But for now, I think these things give her charm—they show she's been well-loved in her previous life!

And as a bonus—I didn't plan this, but I ended up getting her on the first night of Hanukkah! Diversity win—and the best Hanukkah present I could have asked for 💖

Bonus: Rebecca meets Nina Zenik, my handmade plushie of the character from Six of Crows! (See the others here!) As two girls of Russian (or, in Nina's case, fantasy-Russian) heritage with a talent for acting, a flair for the dramatic, and red-and-gold outfits, I think they'd get along very well together :)

Now that I'm a wage-earner and I've proven to myself that if I want a doll I can just...go online...and buy a doll...I'm currently talking myself out of buying every single doll I see online for a decent price (Josefina and Luciana and Kaya and Kit and, and, and, and...). Maybe—and this is a big maybe—I'll get another one in a few months as a "congratulations on getting through the NEXT semester" present, but for now I think my American Girl collection is going to stay at one, or two counting my Molly back at home. But Rebecca won't be lonely—she'll have plenty of friends in my other plushies and Funko Pops, and my (human) friends serve as her loving "friendparents". And, of course, she'll have lots of love from me. 💖
