Prompts: “Just leave me alone” & “You’re getting crumbs all over my bed” - Prompt Lists
Warnings: mentions kidnapping
You had been rather successful at keeping out of any business between your friends and the Mikaelson family. Between knowing just how powerful the Originals were, and having almost befriended some of them, you were adamant not to get involved, and your friends knew that all too well; of course, the fact that you had put Damon into a headlock when he suggested using you against them had helped bring your point home.
But despite your determination not to be brought into the ridiculous fight, you still found yourself being held as a hostage of all things in an effort by Klaus to get your older friends to yield. It wasn’t the worst of situations, if you were to be completely honest. The family had given you your own room, spared no expense to make sure you were comfortable and looked after, and had made sure there was almost always someone with you, so you wouldn’t grow bored or find yourself wanting anything, but you were still the Hybrid’s prisoner, and that pissed you off beyond belief.
The door creaked open and you turned away from it obstinately, knowing exactly who it would be without so much as a glance towards him. Elijah had made it clear upon your arrival that he did not approve of your being used as leverage, but when Klaus agreed to let you have any and every luxury they could provide, allowing your stay to be closer to that of a guest’s than a prisoner, the elder brother had yielded, if somewhat unwillingly. Since that moment he had rarely left your side, his sympathy for you shining through his usually carefully put together mask.
“I brought food,” he offered almost nervously, frowning as you crossed your arms stubbornly in front of you. “I should probably warn you, it has been some decades since I last attempted to bake anything,” he spoke with a light chuckle, hoping desperately to ease the tension as he placed the plate of slightly overcooked cookies on your bed next to you.
“Just leave me alone,” you pleaded softly, the first words to fall from your lips since your all but graceful arrival in the house where you had screamed your throat raw, throwing curses at the hybrid that had stolen you from your car.
Hope sprung forth in Elijah’s mind as he focused on your first words in days. It may not have been much, but he was not about to let go of some chance of getting you back. The silence you had thrown at him had hurt more than he would admit, and it had caused many angry words between him and Klaus, and while he was fairly certain you would never forgive him for his brother’s actions, he could not help but hope to earn back some of your trust. It was rare that he found himself so captivated by someone, but from the first moment he had met you he had found himself utterly enraptured by you, and he wasn’t about to let that go that easily.
“I am sorry for my brother’s actions,” Elijah sighed, taking a seat on the edge of your bed, wanting to draw your attention to him, although it was to no avail. “You do know, I hope, that we would never harm you. You mean far too much to this family.”
“Just not enough for you to actually care about me,” you scoffed, finally looking over at him, your eyes filled with a hollow glare; a mixture of anger and disbelief filling your every pore.
“Of course, we care about you,” Elijah frowned at your words, surprisingly hurt by the accusation. “I assure you we do not usually give people their own bedrooms, especially when they are with us against their will.”
“Oh, fantastic,” you rolled your eyes, as he took a cookie from the plate, trying to make the conversation somewhat more casual. “I may be trapped here for an indeterminate amount of time, but at least I have my own room while I’m here.”
“Actually, we made the room up for you long before Klaus decided to kidnap you,” Elijah admitted, taking a bite from the cookie before grimacing at the taste. “We were going to offer it to you for when you wanted to get away from the Salvatore’s.”
“Oh really?” you questioned, surprised by the statement, and somewhat touched. “Well, you’re getting crumbs all over my bed,” you scowled with a playful smirk, reaching over to take cookie for yourself.
