Thay would make sense but the media don't hate him. People literally praise him every chance they get. Who needs to step away from media is Mo. There's already been two times when Virgil is almost physically pushing Mo away from a mic to stop talking. Virgil had his robotic moments, but I think it's moreso to do with he takes pride in being a captain and knows what he said reflects on the whole team as well.

Virgil’s media presence has been robotic and dry waaaay before he became full time captain. In my opinion what triggered it is his bad season in 2022. Pundits don’t hate him and often praise him when he’s doing well yes, but what seems to irk him isn’t pundits but fans to me.
