As Ever
Day 21 ~ time loop ~ (Alt. Prompt)
Fives
Word Count: 2097 Content: Bio Chip Arc, Fives dies, actually he dies multiple times, the time loop resets if he dies or gets reconditioned, so because time loops can get fuckin dark, so I'm saying a soft Mature 18+ (recommended), Sheev Palpatine is his own warning anyway
Tumblr media
“The mission… the nightmares… they’re… finally over.”
“Fives? No, Fives…”
His eyes fluttered open, squinting at the harsh light of the medical room.
“I… what…”
“Do not worry,” AZI chirped brightly. “Brief confusion is normal when waking up after a surgery.”
“Surgery,” Fives repeated, his hand coming up to the side of his head.
The patch. From the surgery. The chips? “You removed the chip?”
“Yes,” AZI said, whirling around to pull the two slides from his drawer. “Identical in structure.” He held the slide up side by side. “However, it appears that the one I found in your friend had mal–”
“Tup’s chip malfunctioned, but mine was fine,” Fives thought aloud.
“That is correct,” AZI chirped. “There is no way of knowing what will happen to you now that we have removed your chip.”
Fives’ mind felt clearer in this moment than he’d ever remembered.
Hadn’t he done all this already? He could so clearly remember seeing the chancellor–you don’t forget when a seemingly kindly old man orders his guards to murder you–escaping, finding Kix in 79s, and talking to General Skywalker and Rex. Oh, Rex. The memory of his ori’vod holding him close, crying as the second of the shinies he’d practically adopted faded away.
Is this what happens when you die? He thought bitterly as he scowled at the floor. You have to relive the worst parts of your life? What’s next? Umbara? The Citadel? Kamino?
“Are you experiencing anything out of the ordinary? Anything that could be a potential sign of the mental decline your friend experienced?” AZI broke him from his bitter thinking.
“No, no,” he said, waving him off. “I don’t… think so. Maybe–do you think he had deja vu?”
“There is no way of knowing what Clone Trooper Tup experienced before his death, however feelings of deja vu are not a common indicator of an impending mental break.”
Fives sighed, pushing off from the table to pace the small room. “I swear, it feels like I’ve done this before.”
“Like you’ve done–”
“All this,” Fives groaned, his hands gesturing vaguely. “You removed my chip, we go to the records hall. They take me to the chancellor, he–”
Fives went still, his mind working over his options.
“ARC Trooper Fives?”
“AZI, I think this goes much deeper than the chips in our heads.”
“General, you have to believe me, I can show you–”
“You’ve gone too far, Fives.”
“Stand down, soldier!”
“No, Fives!”
“General Ti,” he said. The general came to his side. “The-the doctor injected me with something… I-I don’t feel well.”
“I’m sure it was just to help you relax, Fives,” she smiled sympathetically.
“No, no,” Fives shook his head. “It… doesn’t feel like last time. This one… this one’s gonna kill me. Please–”
“Fives, I do not understand–”
“I…can’t see’i- ‘nym–”
“Fives? Fives!”
“Fives, what are you doing in here?” Shaak Ti questioned, still in her meditation pose. “You are meant to be completing the tests necessary to put you back in the field.”
“General, when we were cadets, you helped me and Echo find our place in our squad. You did us a huge favor and I have just one more to ask of you before I’m sent away.”
He could see the skepticism in her eyes, but she nodded. “What can I do for you?”
“I need to know something about you. Something you’ve never told anyone before– something that you’d need to investigate if someone said it back to you.”
“Fives–”
“I know, General. But please, once I go back to that testing room, I’ll either be sent to the front to die or I’ll have my memory wiped. Either way, I know too well that I’ll be a dead man.”
Fives could feel something touch his mind. He let his eyes close, allowing the Jedi to prod him for answers.
“Something small,” he pleaded quietly. “Just something that would tell you to talk to me.”
As the general’s touch eased from his mind and she simply searched him with her eyes, he began to lose hope.
“Apologies, General Ti,” he said finally. “I’ll leave you to your meditation.” He gave a slight bow and turned for the door.
“Fives,” her voice reached his ears right before he opened the door. “Nannariums.”
He turned to look at her, finding a soft confusion still covering her face, but her eyes were curious.
“They are my favorite flower. No one else knows this.”
Relief stole over him. He nodded his thanks to her, then walked to his seemingly inevitable death.
“Perhaps it would be best if clone trooper Fives and I discussed this without your presence,” the Chancellor said, his smile warm and sickly sweet. Fives fought the urge to punch him.
“Chancellor, I must object,” General Ti scowled.
“Please, Master Jedi,” the Chancellor cooed. “Trust me. I will not be alone.”
Whatever that aiwha-bait doctor dosed him with was fogging his mind.
“N-no,” he protested, instantly sure that this must have been the pivotal moment. This is where everything went wrong. “General, please. Don’t leave me alone with him,” he pleaded, stepping towards the kind Jedi. “He’s not the one at risk, General.”
The General startled. “Fives, what are you–”
“This is obviously the delusional ramblings of a defective clone,” Se protested.
“On the ship, on our way here,” Fives breathed, all too aware of the glare boring into him from the Kaminoan. “The doctor injected me wi-with something and I can’t… Please just stay with me.”
Shaak Ti’s eyes scrutinized him.
“You can… you could see if something was affecting me, couldn’t you?” he said, his eyes searching hers as much as she searched his. “Making my head all foggy?”
“Master Jedi?” Palpatine probed.
He could feel the general’s gentle touch at the back of his mind.
Fives tried to calm himself, pulling only one memory to his mind. Too many would confuse her–he found that out last time.
A quiet meditation room on Kamino. The quiet confusion and curiosity on her face.
Her own voice.
“Fives. Nannariums. They are my favorite flower. No one else knows this.”
Shaak Ti gasped quietly, her eyes going wide. She thought for a moment. “If it would be a comfort to this trooper, perhaps it would be better if I stay.”
“Thank you, general,” Fives sighed, relief flooding his body.
“Of course,” Palpatine said, his voice still that of a kind old man, but his expression soured as he looked at Fives. “All will stay present, but perhaps we should all just let the man speak.” He looked to the general and the doctor, who both gave a nod.
Fives’ teeth ground together. “Thank you, sir.”
“Please, Fives,” General Ti nodded. “Tell us what is going on.”
Fives could feel his hands shake, his focus solely on the General. “There is a plot against the Jedi, General. There is a Sith in this–” his eyes nervously turned towards the chancellor. “In the Senate. They’re controlling this war from both sides.”
“This is lunacy,” Nala Se muttered. “Chancellor, this clone has clearly gone mad without his chip. He must be–”
“Doctor, we all agreed to let Fives speak,” the general said, fixing her with a stern look.
“The chips have… orders written into them to kill the Jedi. We would be forced to obey the order without a second thought,” he said, determinedly continuing to speak over Nala Se’s renewed objections. “It isn’t supposed to happen until someone triggers it, but Tup’s malfunctioned and it caused him to execute the general.”
Shaak Ti’s face betrayed her whirlwind of emotions.
“Master Jedi, I find I must agree with the good doctor,” Palpatine muttered. “This is obviously a very, very sick clone.”
“General, I swear on- on nannariums, I’m telling the truth,” Fives insisted.
“I am taking ARC Trooper Fives to the Jedi temple for evaluation,” the general said suddenly. “He has made many… disturbing claims, yet I can sense that he truly believes them.”
The chancellor stood aghast, stammering “But Master Ti, I believe–”
“I will bring him to plead his case before the Jedi High Council and our temple’s best mind healers,” she said, her voice exuding confidence. “I’m sure we can all say that we want what is best for the Republic, yes?”
“Well, of course–”
“And what is best for the Republic is to learn the origin of this clone’s… delusions.”
Shaak Ti ignored the protests from the doctor and chancellor as she pulled Fives from the room by the arm.
“Thank you for believing me, General,” he practically gushed. “I don’t know how to tha–”
Before he could finish, Shaak Ti spun on her heel, her saber hilt pressed to his chest. “How could you know that?”
“G-general?”
“That is something I’ve not told even my dearest friends,” she elaborated. “Clones are force-null; you cannot have seen it in a vision, yet the memory felt real.”
Fives’ eyes darted around the room. It was empty except for them, but he couldn’t shake the feeling they were being watched.
“Take me to the Council, General,” he pressed. “Please.”
She fixed him with a hard look but placed her lightsaber back on her belt. “I will.” She turned back to continue.
He sighed. “Thank you, again, General. I’ve been–”
She stopped, eyeing him over her shoulder. “Do not speak until we are before the council.”
He tensed and she looked away and sighed. “I have already been… biased, but the rest of the council must receive the full story.”
A chill ran down Fives’ spine. “Yes, General.”
He sat in silence as the transport took them to the temple. Over the last… oh maker, he’d lost count of how many times he’d been through this–this was the first time in a while he started to feel that tiny spark of hope deep in his chest–perhaps a little further down than where Fox had shot him about half of these days. If he thought about it too hard, he could feel that hole burning into his chest, he could hear Rex’s anguish. He’d do anything to stop that from happening again, to stop hearing that broken cry of his name spilling over his brother’s lips. If all of this was real and he was being given so many chances to get this all right, he’d do it for Rex, for Tup, and for all their brothers.
“Your thoughts are… quite loud,” the general hummed as they arrived at the temple, her eyes–filled with curiosity–meeting his for the first time since leaving the Senate building.
He felt his cheeks flush. “Oh! I’m sorry–”
“No, no, it is alright,” she waved his concern off. “Perhaps I should not have been eavesdropping.”
“That’s okay,” he murmured.
“While I find your… situation… to be perplexing, your dedication is commendable… and perhaps a bit inspiring,” she smiled as the doors to the transport closed behind them.
“Uh, thank you, General.”
“Fives, you are aware that the things you have claimed are extremely unbelievable, yes?” she said as they entered the halls. Idly, Fives wondered how many clones had entered these halls before.
“Yes, sir,” he nodded, adding that “it was unbelievable to me too, the first dozen times” under his breath.
She took him directly to the High Council Chamber, telling him–and the pair of guards by the door–to “stay put. I mean it, Fives. Do not lose this opportunity” before entering the chambers.
He glanced at one of the guards. “I’m not going anywhere, but if I don’t move my legs right now I’m going to lose my mind.”
The guard didn’t answer save for a small nod. He thanked them and began pacing.
“You’re not the first to wear down the floor out here,” Plo Koon said, the chamber door closing behind him. He couldn’t be sure, but Fives was fairly certain he was smiling beneath that mask. “And I am certain you won’t be the last.’
“General Koon,” Fives chirped automatically, standing up at attention.
“At ease, Trooper,” Koon answered. “If you are ready, the Council is ready to hear your story.”
Suddenly, the weight of everything happening to him seemed to hit him. Not just his own fate, but the fate of all of his brothers rested squarely on his shoulders. The fate of Tup’s honor sat there, as well. If he could prove that what happened with General Tiplar wasn’t Tup’s fault…
“Fives?” Shaak Ti whispered. He hadn’t noticed her come out. “Are you ready?”
Fives took a deep breath, squaring his shoulders.
“Ready as I’ll ever be, General.”

Who I think is going to die from least to most likely
(Reminder: a character death is only well-written if it serves a purpose, and isn’t done just for shock value)
Omega
For hells sake if I hear another person say they think Omega is gonna die I’m gonna lose it. SHE WON’T DIE. She is a CHILD. She is the MAIN CHARACTER. In a CHILDREN’S PROGRAM. She will survive. Like Jen Corbett said, this isn’t HBO. This is Disney. It would be equivalent to Disney killing off Elsa. Could they tease Omega’s death? Yes. Could she go missing like Ezra? Yes (however very unlikely) Could they kill her off. No. She’s not dying. Disney Princesses don’t die. Their loved ones however…
Batcher
I don’t believe they’ll kill her off for a pretty much the same reasons I know they won’t kill Omega. Everyone hates it when a dog dies. And she is such a new character. It would serve no purpose other than to just piss everyone off. And she’s perfect for Star Wars merch.
Echo
I know there’s been some worry over him because he hasn’t been in the season a lot, but for that very same reason I’m certain he’s in the clear. It would be a massive disservice to fans and to Echo himself to kill him off when he’s had hardly any screen time. There wouldn’t be as much emotional impact if they decided to kill him off in a show he is hardly in. If they were planning to kill him off, they’d be giving him the same screen time as Tech got in season 2. I honestly think they’re leading up to a spin-off series with him and Rex. Echo is safe. For now.
Wrecker
Episode 11 actually cemented in my belief that he will be safe, with him getting injured and his close call with death. It was a fake out death, to get our hearts pumping and wondering if he’s a goner. If he were to die sometime this season, ep 11 would’ve been the time. But he doesn’t have as much plot armor as the others above. So his fate is still up in the air.
Crosshair
He still might very well die in the end. But I firmly stand by what I’ve said before: Redemption ≠ Sacrifice. He is doing his part to better himself and earn his own redemption. It doesn’t need to be earned by dying. They’re focusing massively on his hand tremor and loss of accuracy/skill. It would be so much more satisfying if he were to find healing “on his own” like Omega said. “There’s hope for us yet.” Hope for Crosshair. People can make mistakes. They can get better. And they can live to see better days. I’m hoping to see him make a crucial shot that ultimately saves the day at the end.
They didn’t kill off Zuko at the end of ATLA. They let him live. They let him have happiness after experiencing sorrow. I hope they give Crosshair the same.
Though, I will say, it would be a devastating blow if his tremors only ceased as he took his last breaths. There is no guarantee he’ll make it out of the series alive.
Hunter
I still think Hunter is the most likely to die, for a lot of reasons. While Crosshair’s arc is clearly defined and moving in a positive direction (with some hurtles along the way) Hunter’s story is much less clear. He has been avoidant the entire series. Avoidant and unsure, except for when Omega’s safety is in question. He doesn’t want to join the cause to rescue the clones. He doesn’t want to fight anymore. He wants a peaceful life. It would be incredibly impactful if the man who wanted nothing to do with the cause, died for it. Gaining peace and rest in another way, similar to Tony Stark (there are a billion similarities between his relationship with Omega and Tony’s relationship with Peter Parker, but that’s for another time)
Hunter will finally get the opportunity to save Omega, which he failed to do the first time. And he will finally make a stand. I think the entire season has been leading up to Hunter learning to fully trust Crosshair and hand over responsibility of Omega to him.
Lastly…
They will be going back to Pabu. The ending of the series will play out there. They might not stay there for good, but they might go back to lay someone to rest there.
The beautiful flowers on the weeping maya tree (weeping willows represent grief and mourning btw… you see where I’m going with this) will be laid on the grave(s). The moment I saw Omega find the rare white flower on that very specific kind of tree, I knew it would be important later on.
Lula and the last remnants of Tech are on Pabu. I don’t know if Tech is really alive or not, but if he really is dead, I could see them laying to rest not only Tech (his goggles) and whoever else dies, but also what the Bad Batch was (Lula) Those items will come into play in the end. I bet my life on it.
I think it will be a beautiful ending. Beautiful, and sad.

TBB s3 ep13 THOUGHTS!!
Starting off with a sunny shot of Tantiss seems like a good omen
I probably just jinxed it huh?
Omega🥺🥺🥺
Poor baby
But they get toys
EVA TELLING OMEGA ABOUT THE DOLL
ECHOOOOOOOO
“You really think we can trust that hydrosnake?”
“I can hear you.”
Bitch is bitching about the Captains uniform like he hasn’t been wearing prison pj’s for two episodes
Oh? Omega snuck a weapon?
Smart girl
Omega is there for what? One day? Two? And she already has a plan to get them all out
The boys will finally find tantiss only for her to stand on a pile of rubble with a blaster and the other kids around her like “oh you finally made it?”
Echo stripping their armour from all colour pls this is making me so sad🥲
Like I know it’s just for infiltration but idk, their armour losing it’s individuality is feeling like a BAD omen to me
“That’s ’do your thing, sir.’”
“I don’t think so.”
Bro really just wants to get punched in the face, huh?
“Where is your captain?”
“Uh… … … captaining?”
👏👏👏👏👏
showstopping
truly
I’ve been laughing at this for 2 minutes straight
The comedic timing was *chef’s kiss*
see I knew Wrecker was gonna beat the shit out of him
Honestly Rampart is the most whiny little bitch I’ve ever seen
Like JESUS CHRIST just shut your mouth
Like he’s complaining about EVERYTHING like he has a say?
Hate to break it to you buddy, but YOU DONT
YOURE JUST PISSING PEOPLE OFF
That sequence of Echo sneaking aboard was 10/10
Fucking droid vacuum? LOVE IT
“Bout time.”
While wearing the guys hat HAHAHAHAHAH
WOW
JUST IN TIME
I was SO SURE that it would go wrong again
Honestly since Cross missed the shot I’ve been scared
I mean, I knew Omega was gonna make it out, but I wasn’t so sure about the rest of the batch
Honestly for a second there I was like “Jup, this is it. The moment we lose Echo.”
BUT THANK FUCK HE MADE IT
Yo besties, this one was a rollercoaster
I mean I had a good time but I went through a lot of emotions there phew 😮‍💨
So does this mean that Cross can kill Rampart now? Because they don’t need him anymore, right?
Also, I love that Echo is back, but again, I AM SO SAD REX ISN’T WITH HIM! Because if Rex isn’t in this episode, then he probably won’t be in the next two either. Like I was really hoping we were past the “let Rex show up in ONE (1) arc per season, somewhere mid-season” thing. Like I was hoping we were gonna actually tie him into the story so that the torch for “clone centric animation show” could be passed to him and now I’m less optimistic.
I mean, anything can happen still but… we have two episodes left and somehow we still don’t quite know what the deal is with Omega’s blood and M-count, she still needs to escape, we still don’t know who clone X is, and we somehow need to find a conclusion for the batch AND the clone rebellion that explains their absence in future storylines without being rushed and… that’s,,,, A LOT?
In conclusion, I am very confused and scared and I’d like to go home now pls (by which I mean the batch should get to go back to Pabu with ALL THE OTHER CLONES IN TBE GALAXY and have a nice little life🥺)
anyways see you next week! hahahaha🥲

words: 2k+
warnings/tags: not explicit, but my blog is 18+ ONLY. protective!hunter, brief mentions of injury (blood, pain, darkening of skin from a bruise (no color mentioned), needle), past scars from battles, gentle!hunter is my weakness!!
read on ao3 | masterlist
The injury had been your own fault. The cost of your amateur mistake led to you getting a blaster bolt to the bicep and a bruised ego—painful, but nothing you couldn’t handle. Luckily, Wrecker had been there to cover for you as you scrambled behind some bushes to quickly slap something over the wound as a temporary field fix. As soon as you’d all made it back to the ship with the chip Rex had asked for, Tech and Echo blasted off into hyperspace, and you set down your rifle and removed your helmet, saying you were going to patch yourself up and denying offers of help. A broad shadow followed you despite your curt refusals.
In the moment on the field, Hunter had kept his cool, remaining the fierce, steady leader of the Batch even when you announced that you’d been hit over comms. In the private, quiet space of the Marauder’s tiny medbay, however, Hunter was a totally different man.
You plopped down onto the tiny bench and winced when your right arm was jostled. The adrenaline had finally worn off, and now you were left to deal with the pain on your own. You were still applying pressure to the area, your palm growing wet as the emergency bacta became saturated with your blood. Part of you worried this was more serious than you’d initially thought, but you shoved that thought away—it’d do you no good right now.
The shadow had materialized at your side despite your annoyed groans and rolled eyes. Hunter was digging through the cabinet and shelves next to you, pulling out various medkit items and muttering to himself.
“Hunter, I can do this myself.”
“I won’t let you,” he declared, giving you a stern look. “Is it just your arm?”
You shook your head, removing your chest plate. “Think I got a bruise or something, even with my armor.”
He clicked his tongue, that over-protective streak within him bubbling to the surface at your admission. You knew his actions came from a place of love and tenderness, but sometimes it could be overbearing, especially when it was a wound you could patch up yourself. Your fearless lover was a caring man at his core, and he seemed to project that trait onto you whenever he could since his brothers were resistant to it at times.
Hunter removed your shoulder pauldrons and vambraces, dark eyebrows furrowing when you hissed as he worked on the armor on your wounded arm. “You need to be more careful.”
“I am,” you protested with a roll of your eyes. It felt childish, especially as he began to prep various med items for your injury once your armor sat piled next to you. “Shit just happens, you know that.”
“Seems to happen a lot for you,” Hunter countered, raising an eyebrow.
Heat singed the tips of your ears, and you pressed down harder on your wound. There was silence as his brown eyes looked you over, searching yours and softening when he saw you wince.
“I have to take your top off.”
“Buy me dinner first,” you teased, trying to lighten the serious mood Hunter had filled the air with.
Hunter huffed and held back the smile that quirked the corner of his plush lips. “Since I don’t want you moving your arm, I’m gonna cut it off.”
Hunter whipped his knife off his tac belt, turning around and crouching in front of you. You had no qualms about it—you didn’t want to move your arm more than you had to—but you were thoroughly annoyed about losing one of your blacks. Cutting the top meant losing the rest of it. Hunter didn’t care even though he knew this; he cared more about making sure you—his girl; his sweet, precious thing—were safe and sound. So, you acquiesced with a nod of your head, grimacing as you heard the blade slice the fabric and rip from the pull of his rough hands. The fabric split open down your front, exposing the chest band you wore under your blacks.
“Let go of your arm for a moment, gotta cut this sleeve off.”
You knew Hunter could tear it with his bare hands and sheer determination, but there was that gentleness again. You glanced at your palm as you set it in your lap, gulping at how red it was. Judging from the way Hunter’s breath hitched after peeling off your cut sleeve, you assumed the bacta patch had done a shit job. At least it had stopped the bleeding long enough for you to make it back with the rest of the Batch, though, and for that, you were both grateful.
Hunter’s eyes met yours, then flicked back to your wound and trailed down your torso from your neck to your bellybutton where the ripped fabric hung off around your hips.
“I didn’t realize—” Hunter started, then stopped, shaking his head and grabbing a bottle of antiseptic and gauze.
“Didn’t realize what?” you questioned.
He grunted to himself. “Nothing. This might hurt a bit, baby.”
His pet name soothed you for only a few second before the first gentle press of antiseptic-soaked gauze made you hiss in pain. You squeezed your eyes shut when you felt a burn on your arm, tiny pinpricks agitating your angry wound with each dab. He shushed you and repeated your name, his rumbling voice taking on that sweet, velvety tone he only shared with you.
“Kriff, love,” Hunter mumbled.
“Is it bad?”
“Might need a bacta shot.”
You leaned back into the metal wall with a sigh, looking up at the ceiling. “Do what you gotta do, babe.”
You heard him hum and stand up and watched him take a needle out of a black pouch. Without a word, he quickly stuck the needle in your arm and pressed down on the plunger. You looked at him the entire time, his warm brown hand coming to rest over yours once he was finished with the shot, a calloused thumb stroking across the back of your hand. Hunter was a natural at soothing you, whether it was a panic attack in the middle of the night or playing along with you when you ran to him after getting a tiny cut. Even fully dressed in his armor, blaster on his hip, smears of dirt on his cheeks and the tip of his broad nose, he was your gentle lover, the man you’d run to in times of pain and uncertainty.
The burning was soothed by smears of a cool gel, tingling at first before smoothing into soft waves of relief. Hunter gently applied a bacta patch, his hands wrapping around your bicep as he pressed down the edges, making sure it was in place. You smiled up at him, glad when he met yours with his, the tender one he saved just for you.
“You didn’t have to do all of that for little ol’ me.”
He kissed your temple, a thumb stroking your chin. He whispered into your skin, “I love doing it for you.”
“I know you do,” you smiled, the pain from your wound fading with another kiss pressed into your forehead.
“Want me to take care of that bruise?” he asked, gently poking the darkened skin on your left side underneath your last rib. When you hissed in pain, he gave you a doleful look. “I think I have a cooling pack in the cabinet.”
You noticed his eyes lingering on your torso and wandering across your skin, and you swallowed thickly, realizing what he was so captivated by.
“Hunter,” you called, directing his attention to your face and away from the scars littering your skin.
“How did you get all of them?” he asked hesitantly. You could tell he was hiding his anxiety underneath his stony expression, his dark curls bouncing on his shoulder when he turned his head suddenly to reach for a white pack in the cabinet.
You shrugged, dropping your gaze to your boots as he cracked the pack and shook it. “I’m clumsy,” you said with an embarrassed chuckle. “They’re just souvenirs from my life before I had you watching over me.”
Hunter gently pressed the pack to your bruise, letting you rest your stained palm over the back of his hand. He cared for you in his own way, and you knew he was torn up about your scars. You’d done a piss-poor job of patching them up, so now you carried artifacts of your past life before the Batch barreled into it, ancient relics of a time without the tenderness of your lover, fossils from your time spent fighting alone. You realized he’d never seen them in the light before; only a few were raised, but he’d never commented on them. He just ran his broad fingertips over them as he kissed you in the confines of your bunk, your legs tangled with his muscular thighs.
You’d felt the scars littering his warm brown skin when he held you at his side, tucked into his arm and surrounded by his protective embrace. You ran your hand over his soft stomach and chest, mapping out the jagged positions, stretching your hand across his collarbone and plotting the coordinates of the splotches scattered on his bicep before diving to his muscular thighs and discovering the ones hidden there. Hunter was a man of action, a fierce soldier, a loyal brother, a tender lover. Your gentle touch lit something within him—you could see it in his eyes when you kissed the raised, discolored scar resting under his right ribs, could see it in his smile when you tended to a new wound of his after a skirmish.
You never asked, and he never asked you, either. All you knew was that he was yours now, and you were his, and he’d protect you with every fiber of his being, every bone in his body.
“And now that I am,” Hunter said, kissing the corner of your mouth, “I’ll show you how much I love you.”
“How do you plan on doing that?” you murmured, head suddenly light.
His hands urged you to press the pack against your bruise with your palm as he lowered to his knees in front of you. You sucked in a breath at the sight of him between your legs, something warm pooling within your chest. Nothing sexual or arousing, something warm and affectionate, something Hunter reserved just for you.
His warm hands gently moved the torn fabric of the top of your blacks, trying to force it back and out of the way. You twitched when his fingers brushed against your waist, goosebumps peppering the skin of your forearms when you felt his warm breath linger above your belly button, lips hovering near an old, nearly faded scar. He looked up at you, a soft smile painting his face.
“I’ll start by kissing this.” He pressed a delicate kiss to the scar, gently placing his hands on your waist to hold you in place as if he was afraid you’d fly away and out of his grasp.
Hunter’s eyes fluttered closed as he moved to kiss a scar a few inches under the cold pack. “And this.” His plush lips worshipped your sore skin with a delicate kiss.
“This one, too.” He straightened his spine and kissed a scar right below your chest band, lips warm on the discolored splotch.
Your throat had grown tight and hot, your eyes starting to brim with tears as he continued his adoring expedition across your scarred skin. When he reached a scar on your collarbone, he kissed it, then stood and bent his head to touch his forehead to yours. Your eyes searched his dark ones, leaning into his warm palm when he cupped your cheek. You’d forgotten almost entirely about the dull throb in your bicep and the sensitive bruise on your belly. All you could feel was Hunter and his love for you as he hovered his lips over yours, gentle breaths coating your parted lips.
“I’ll always take care of you, my love.”
You closed the gap, nodding and kissing him deeply, breathing him in and giving in to him.
He pulled back and smiled affectionately at you, his thumb stroking across the apple of your cheek. “I’ll always protect you, my sweet, sweet girl.”
“I know you will, Hunter,” you whispered.
“Always,” he murmured, sealing his promise with a kiss to your forehead.

《 Chapter 26
》 Chapter 28
All chapters (Part 2) (Part 1)
Tumblr media
Explanation: Kimber, Rex and the Bad Batch venture to the junk planet of Bracca to get the Clones' chips removed...but their goal won't be so easily achieved.
Tumblr media
Hunter ended the call with Kimber and Rex, standing now outside the Aurora. When he’d first answered the call, he was surprised to see Kimber looking calm and put together, thinking her time visiting the crash site would’ve been much more emotional. Before he could ask how she was, she’d informed him that Rex knew of a place they could go to in order to get the Bad Batch’s inhibitor chips removed: a junk planet called Bracca. The planet was almost clear across the galaxy from Ord Mantell, so it would take a few days for both parties to get there. Hunter was surprised to be hearing back from them on that front so quickly. He wasn’t entirely sure at first how that place held the answers they were looking for, but he trusted Rex. More than that, he trusted Kimber and she had stood by Rex’s decision during the transmission. That all was enough for him. It was decided that Rex and Kimber would head there together immediately instead of Rex bringing Kimber back to Ord Mantell. That had been at Kimber’s insistence, saying time was of the essence and they’d be able to solve the chip problem faster if she just stayed with Rex instead of having him bring her back. At first, Hunter didn’t feel sure, but that feeling was short-lived because, once again, he trusted the Captain. If there was anyone else outside his squad and the Koriena Force that he would trust to take care of his sweetheart, it was Rex. He’d get her to Bracca safely.
With a new course now in mind, Hunter retreated back into the Aurora to round up the rest of his squad. As he entered the main area of the ship, he called out, “That was Kimber and Rex. We’ve got our destination. Let’s move.”
“Where are we going?” asked Omega.
“I’ll tell you on the way,” said Hunter.
As the rest of the squad made their way over, Rina cried out, “I’m coming with you!”
“I will, as well,” added Kida.
However, Hunter looked back at them and told them, “Negative. This could potentially be dangerous. I won’t have you two be caught in the middle of it.”
Kida put her hands on her hips. “Isn’t that our choice to make, Sergeant?”
“What about your son?” Echo asked her.
Then Lex answered, “Irys and I will gladly watch him. Wouldn’t be the first time we’ve done that while Kida goes on a mission.”
With an almost uncharacteristic pleading look in her eyes, Rina spoke up, “Look, I’m worried about Wrecker. I need to make sure things go okay and Kida wants to be there for Rex, as well. Besides, you might need our help.”
Kida shot Rina a look and stated, “I'm also going so I can make sure you stay out of trouble, shortstacks.”
Rina glowered up at Kida. “Don't ever call me by the lizard lady's nickname,” she warned her.
When they both turned back to the boys, Hunter sighed and shook his head. “I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. If things go south with Wrecker's chip, I wouldn't be able to take it if something happened to you both. I need you to stay here where you're safe. Got it?”
Then without waiting for a response, Hunter turned and walked out of the room, the others following behind him. Wrecker, however, stopped for a moment and looked back at Rina, an apologetic look on his face.
“I'll be okay, babe. Don't worry,” he said to reassure her. Then he flipped around to follow his brothers, crying out over his shoulder as he ran off, “Love you!”
Rina stiffened up at hearing him say those words again and Kida just chuckled.
“You know…I get the feeling he still doesn't quite know the gravity behind those words,” said Kida.
“I overheard him telling Hunter once that he says it because Hunter and Kimber say it to each other all the time,” said Lex, who was carefully rocking Kori in her arms. “They're happy together and Wrecker is happy with Rina…so he's just following by example, even if he doesn't fully understand.”
“One day, he will,” Kida stated. Then she looked down at Rina and asked, “Well, what do we do now?”
Determination in her eyes, Rina answered, “Simple: while the guys are out resupplying and refueling the ship, we stow aboard the Marauder. There's no way the Sarge is making me stay behind, not with Wrecker's well-being on the line.”
Then Irys spoke up behind them, “How do you plan to do that? Hunter has enhanced senses and he'll pick up your scents easily, you with your sweetblossom and Kida's perfume.”
Rina, though, just turned around with a grin. “Oh, I've got a plan,” she said slyly.
Irys smirked and shook her head. “Of course, you do.”
Tumblr media
A couple hours later, the Bad Batch were now soaring through the bright blue tunnel of hyperspace on their way to Bracca to meet up with Rex and Kimber. Wrecker was feeling nervous about the whole plan knowing Rex wanted to cut open his head--all their heads, as well, as Tech reminded him nonchalantly--but Hunter was doing his best to keep him calm. During their flight, Tech continued to work on his brain scanner with Omega’s help.
“Do we really have to do this?” Wrecker asked Hunter apprehensively.
“If Rex is sure, we should trust him,” Hunter responded. “I know it's not ideal, Wrecker, but this is our best course of action.”
Wrecker groaned in defeat. “If you say so,” he relented.
Just then, Hunter's senses picked up something unusual. It sounded like voices…voices that didn't belong to anyone that should be on the ship. They were quiet, but loud enough for his enhanced hearing to detect, and were coming from the back of the Marauder in the bunk area. They also sounded familiar.
He briskly made his way to the back area, earning curious looks from the others at his sudden movements before following him. He detected the voices coming from Wrecker’s bunk.
“I can't hear them anymore.”
“Get away from the door, then, before Sarge catches us.”
“Unbelievable…,” Hunter groaned quietly as he activated the door.
As the door slid open, two figures leaning against it yelped in surprise as they fell forward and hit the floor as Hunter stepped back. Dressed in large, black shirts over their regular clothes and lying prostrate on the ground were Rina and Kida.
Putting his hands on his hips, Hunter said aloud, “Are you two kidding me?”
As they both sat up and got up to their feet, the others realized the shirts the girls were wearing were the same as the tops of their blacks, but they were at least three sizes too big for the women, so the shirts looked like tents on them.
“Are those my black shirts?” asked Wrecker.
“Yeah. How else do you think we were able to sneak aboard?” Rina asked.
Then Kida added, “We figured Hunter would be able to pick up our scent, so we used these to hide them, knowing he wouldn't question anything with his brother's scent. However…we didn't account for his apparently enhanced hearing.”
“What are you doing here? I told you to stay on Ord Mantell,” Hunter chided them.
After pulling off Wrecker's shirt from over her clothes, Rina responded to him, “No offense, Sarge, but you're in charge of this squad…not us.”
He reared back, startled.
“Listen, if I stayed behind, I don't think I'd be able to sleep, not knowing if Wrecker was okay or if the rest of you were okay,” Rina admitted. “I sensed something really wrong with his chip and I can't shake the feeling I got. I have to be there.”
She stole a look at Wrecker and he was a bit surprised to see the evident worry in her eyes, something he wasn't accustomed to, seeing as she usually was more guarded about her emotions even with him. Whatever she'd sensed regarding his chip must've really shaken her up. That and it only made him more nervous about the whole situation on top of it all.
“Besides, if something does happen to either of us, then it'll be on us, not you. You told us to stay on Ord Mantell and we didn't listen, so it'll be our responsibility,” then said Kida.
For a moment, the Clones said nothing. Only exchanging looks with one another.
“Well, we're already in the middle of hyperspace. Can't turn back now,” stated Echo.
“Perhaps their company on this venture will prove most beneficial,” added Tech, mostly to Hunter.
While still displeased at the fact Rina and Kida had stowed aboard and disobeyed his orders, Hunter sighed in defeat. “Fine. Guess we have no choice.”
“Look, sorry we snuck onto the ship, but you also might need our help,” said Rina. “We won't get in the way.”
Kida stepped closer to Hunter and laid a hand on his arm. “I know you're not happy with us right now, but we're here because we care about all of you, Hunter. We just want to make sure you all get out of this safely.”
Then Omega, flashing her brown doe eyes up at Hunter, asked, “That's not so bad, isn't it, Hunter?”
He sighed again, this time a little softer. “I guess not.” Then he looked between the two ladies and said, “Well…looks like we're all going to Bracca then.”
“Well, I'm glad they came because now, my best girl is here!” Wrecker exclaimed, scooping up Rina into a big hug.
She groaned both shyly and gratefully at the same time. She didn't know why, but Wrecker calling her his “best girl” just really set her heart a flutter.
After planting a big kiss on her cheek, he stated, “With her around, I feel better already.”
Tumblr media
A few days passed and Kimber and Rex reached Bracca, a planet completely filled with space garbage; transport scraps, decommissioned starships and more. After Rex landed the Y-wing inside the remains of a larger starship, he told Kimber they'd wait there until the Bad Batch arrived, activating his tracking beacon so they'd be able to find them when they got there. He urged her to stay put while he quickly scouted the area for the ship they'd come to find.
While she waited, Kimber sat back against a wall, waiting patiently for her squad to come. She could only hope the plan Rex had in mind for them would work. If it could get their chips out, then they'd be truly free from any possible Imperial influence, like Order 66.
Remembering Order 66 made her think of Crosshair. Now knowing the chips were really a threat and it was what made the Clones turn on the Jedi and serve the Empire, it explained everything about Crosshair's erratic behavior from Kaller as well as Kamino; why he suddenly seemed so keen on following orders and why he'd turned on the Bad Batch for the Empire. If only he were with them now, then he could get his chip removed, too. He could finally be back to normal and be one of them again. If only he were here….
That was it! Perhaps if she reached out and told him what they knew, then maybe he'd see reason and join them on Bracca. If he could get his chip out, then he'd leave the Empire and be part of their squad once more. They'd be partners again…the eyes in the sky…brother and sister….
Without a second thought, she fished into her pack and pulled out her encrypted holopad. Even though he hadn't responded to any of her previous transmissions, maybe this one would finally get his attention. All she had to do was tell him about their plan and--
Kimber heard movement close by and it startled her that she nearly dropped her holopad device before shoving it back into her pack. When she looked, she realized it was just Rex coming back. He was back from scouting quicker than she'd anticipated.
“Lucky for us, the cruiser we need is already nearby,” he informed her as he approached.
“That's good,” she said. “Then we can get right to it once the boys get here.”
“Exactly,” he replied.
About an hour passed before they heard the sound of engines overhead and when they peeked out from their hiding place, they saw the Marauder coming their way. Kimber couldn’t help but smile at seeing that junk of a shuttle she loved so much. Soon, the Marauder docked next to the Y-wing and Rex and Kimber made their way towards it to greet the others. Hunter came out first followed by Omega and the others.
“Right on time,” Rex greeted Hunter, the two of them grasping arms.
As Kimber was about to say something, she caught sight of two faces in the back of the group she wasn’t expecting to see. “Rina? Kida? What are you two doing here?” she asked.
Rex peered around the Clones to see the two women, as well, once Kimber called attention to them.
“They stowed away,” said Hunter, sounding slightly miffed still, giving the girls the side-eye.
“Hey, we said we’re sorry,” said Rina.
Then Kida added, “We just thought you all could use some extra help. Plus, someone was worried sick about her man and refused to stay behind.” Then she looked down at Rina, who blushed bright red.
Rex smiled to himself at seeing Kida. Something about her being here now made him feel less nervous about the whole ordeal. “Well, we’re glad you’re both here,” he said.
“So how’s a junk planet gonna help us?” Wrecker asked him.
After donning his helmet, Rex simply replied, “Follow me.”
After Kimber and the other Clones--sans Omega--put on their own helmets, they followed after Rex as he led them out of the scrapped ship they’d docked in.
Hunter leaned in and asked Kimber quietly, “How are you, my love? Are you doing okay?”
She nodded to him, knowing he was referring to her previous venture to say her final goodbyes to Jesse at his grave. “I am. I’m doing better,” she told him. “You were right. I really needed that closure. Now, I can move forward with peace and clarity.”
He grasped her hand tightly for a moment and he replied, “For that, I’m glad.”
“Thank you for having Rex take me there,” she said back.
He bowed his head in return.
The whole group walked up a slight incline of a toppled steel wall that overlooked much of the area. The entire landscape before them was just covered in ship junk for miles.
“Bracca may not be much to look at, but it has exactly what we need,” Rex told everyone as they came to the peak.
Before them just yards away was a huge decommissioned Venator cruiser set amongst much of the rubble, its engines facing them.
“I had my inhibitor chip taken out on a Jedi cruiser just like that,” stated the Captain, pointing to the ship.
“Then why’d we land all the way over here?” Wrecker inquired, puzzled.
Just then, Hunter spotted something in the sky and ordered everyone to get down. They obeyed and crouched down as low as they could as another smaller ship flew overhead.
“That’s why,” Rex answered Wrecker.
Behind him, Tech flipped down his visor to analyze the ship. “It’s the Scrapper Guild,” he said a few seconds later.
Rex then told everyone that the Scrappers controlled the entire planet and that they needed to keep out of sight from their different patrols. They waited a few more seconds for the patrol ship to pass before Rex told them to move. They took a turn to the left and made their way down into more ship wreckage to keep themselves hidden. The metal of the damaged walls and support beams groaned and creaked all around them, echoing almost ominously as they walked. They moved quickly yet stealthily so as to not catch any attention and also not disturb the rubble around them lest anything come loose and cause a ruckus or injure any of them. Caution was key in a place like this. They had to climb up onto platforms and carefully maneuver across support beams until they successfully made it inside the Venator. Once inside, Rex, Echo and Tech pulled out their torches so they could see through the dark corridors of the crashed ship.
“The last time I was aboard one of these, it didn’t end so well,” Rex commented as they went, stealing a quick glance at Kimber since she really was the only one who knew where he was coming from.
Then Echo asked him, “If the inhibitor chip isn’t something you can control, how’d you get yours out?”
“I…had help,” Rex answered.
He then halted abruptly and signaled for everyone else to stop as they came to a break in the path that fell into a chasm filled with water below.
“The medical bay is at the other end,” Rex stated.
“How are we going to get over there?” asked Kimber.
Rina cracked her knuckles and suggested, “I could Force-push everyone over there.”
Turning around to face her, Rex replied, “Firstly, I’ve been pushed around by the Force too many times for my liking. Second of all, the foundation of the ship could still be unstable and compromised on the other side. Using the Force to throw us all over there could cause things to give way if we’re not careful.”
Then Kida snapped her fingers and declared, “I’ve got an idea!” Then she gestured to something lying wrapped up on the floor next to Wrecker. “Wrecker, grab that cable,” she told him.
He knelt down and grabbed part of the cable, immediately getting anxious--more so than he had been a second ago at seeing the deep ravine--and stammering, “This? W-Why? W-W-What are you gonna do with it?”
“Hand me the end,” Kida told him, holding out her hand. Once she grabbed it, she said, “I’ll get to the other side and secure the end of this cable over there. Then the rest of you can use it to get across safely.”
“Then how are you getting over there?” inquired Kimber.
Kida just grinned deviously. “I’ve been known to be pretty light on my feet, so I shouldn’t cause any problems,” she simply said. Then she took a couple steps back, glanced at Rina and said, “Rina, Shooting Star.”
Rina gave her a nod and before anyone could ask what was going on, Kida grasped the cable tightly and bolted for the edge of the walkway.
“Kida, don’t!” Rex cried out, reaching out for her.
As she got to the edge, Kida leapt through the air towards the other side and Rina stepped out, pushing out her palms in front of her with a Force push. Then Kida suddenly jolted further and faster with that extra push, doing a graceful front flip all the way to the other side and landing softly in a three-point stance on the ground. She straightened up, looked back over her shoulder at the others on the opposite side and confidently blew them all a kiss before moving to tie the cable around a nearby beam.
“See, Cap? Your baby mama’s got this,” said Rina, elbowing him in the arm.
Rex was thankful his helmet was on so no one could see the bright shade of red he was sure his face was turning at Rina’s comment.
Kida finished wrapping the cable, made sure it was secure and then cried out, “You’re all good to go!”
Rina was the first to go, but instead of using the cable, she just took a big Force jump across the entire chasm all the way to the other side, landing effortlessly next to Kida. Then she turned around and called out, unable to hold back a smirk, “What’s the hold up? Hurry up, slowpokes!”
“Yes, very amusing, Rina,” Tech replied flatly.
Hunter stepped forward. “I’ll go first and help everyone get across on the other side,” he said. Then right away, he crouched down, wrapped his legs around the cable, grabbed on with both hands and proceeded to climb along the line to the other side of the chasm, joining Rina and Kida.
“Nice job, lover boy,” said Rina.
He just gave a small grunt in response before looking back and gesturing for the next person to follow. Rex motioned with his hand for Kimber to go next, so she obliged. Though, she had an easier idea. She took out her sniper rifle, laid it over and across the cable and held onto both ends of the rifle. Then she stepped off the edge and slid fast down the cable like a zip line. Hunter was nervous for a second seeing her dangling over the chasm, but he trusted her and trusted she knew what she was doing and braced himself near the edge on his side to catch her. She zipped down and as her feet touched the ground, his strong arm caught her around the waist to steady her landing.
“Well done,” said Hunter, impressed.
“Ha! Showoff,” commented Rina to Kimber, smirking in amusement.
Then followed Rex, Tech and then Echo. Kimber was worried at first for Echo, wondering how he’d get across with his scomp arm, but as always, he proved that there was nothing to worry about as he was able to shimmy across with no issue. However, when he dismounted the cable, his feet touched the very edge and slipped, but Kimber was quick to catch him.
“I got you,” Kimber told him as she pulled him back.
“Always there to catch me when I fall, right?” he asked.
“Always,” she said back.
Omega and Wrecker were the only ones left. It was clear Wrecker didn’t want to go due to his crippling fear of heights. He was standing behind Omega nervously rubbing his hands together. Omega went ahead and climbed across the cable. Rex stepped up and held his hands out to catch her when she got all the way across and she did so without any problems.
“Nicely done,” Rex complimented her as she let go of the line.
“You’re up, Wrecker!” called out Hunter.
“Uh…yeah, my head doesn’t hurt anymore. I’m fine,” Wrecker tried to lie to get out of going across. “You guys go without me.”
“You can do it! Just keep your eyes on the cable!” Omega encouraged him.
Then Rina cried out, “We believe in you, big guy! You’ve got this!”
Still feeling as anxious as ever yet willing to try, Wrecker gingerly knelt down and got himself on the cable. Due to his weight, the cable dropped a little, which made him even more nervous. He inched forward a bit and it dropped again, but he clung even tighter to it.
“That was close,” he commented.
Snap!
The line broke free on his end and Wrecker started plummeting down into the chasm on the cable.
“Wrecker!” yelled Kimber in alarm.
Rina immediately dashed to the front to look over the edge. She, Kimber, Rex, Hunter and Omega all watched as Wrecker swung back on the cable, hit the side of the wall and as he fell towards the water, he spun through the cable and it ended up wrapped around his ankle, halting his fall just inches above the waterline. Omega got down on her knees and shined the torch she’d been given just then from Rex down so they all could see Wrecker, now dangling above the murky green water.
“Are you all right?” Rex called down to him
From down below, they all heard him answer, “No! Smells awful down here!”
Right then, they could see a large dark shape move underneath the water and everyone’s anxiety spiked.
“What’s that?” Omega asked, concerned.
Hunter peered over and said over comms, “Wrecker, start climbing.”
“Why?!” Wrecker asked back, his voice cracking anxiously.
“Hurry!” yelled Kimber.
Suddenly, there was an echoing roar from below and then a giant tentacle sprung up from under the water, wrapping itself around Wrecker and tugging him under the water.
“Wrecker!” cried Omega.
Kimber stayed at the edge with Omega to watch for Wrecker while everyone else sprang into action, grabbing the cable and pulling together to get Wrecker out of the water. Kimber watched as Wrecker came up above the water, pulling his large vibroblade from his boot and slicing the tentacle off him. Then he pulled himself up and began climbing up the line himself. Kimber caught sight of the creature as it briefly emerged from the water, seeing more tentacles and a round mouth with several curved, razor teeth pointing inward. She recognized it from her studies of other galactic creatures.
“It’s a dianoga!” she shouted.
“Faster! Pull faster!” Wrecker shouted up to the others in alarm.
Then Kimber moved away and started helping pull the cable with the others, getting in front of Rina.
“Give…my big guy…back!” she heard Rina grunt out behind her.
They strained trying to pull the line, inching further and further forward. Even with all of them pulling except Omega, their strength was no match for the dianoga’s as it pulled Wrecker back down. Suddenly, the weight on the line disappeared, making it slacken and everyone fell onto their backs. That wasn’t a good sign. That meant Wrecker was no longer on the other end.
“No, no, no, no, no…!” Kimber cried, panicking, as she rushed back to the edge.
Rina was right on her heels, calling out Wrecker’s name as they both looked over to see if they could spot him.
There was no movement save for the waves of the water rushing back and forth. There was no sign of the dianoga nor Wrecker. The others began to fear the worst.
Just then, there was a splash and to their relief, Wrecker appeared again at the other end of the line, climbing his way up.
“Pull!” Omega called to everyone else.
However, the dianoga appeared again below him and all of its tentacles came out of the water, wrapping themselves around him. It was determined to drag him down below the depths.
“You will not have him,” Kimber stated out loud, pulling her sniper rifle off her back.
Echo had the same thought as she did, drawing his blaster, and together, they both began firing shots down at the creature in the attempt to wound it enough so it would release its hold on Wrecker. After a few shots made contact, one hit it straight in the mouth, it released a low groan of pain and the tentacles retreated, letting Wrecker go. Feeling the cable slacken again, the others resumed pulling it to get Wrecker to safety. A few seconds later, Wrecker reached the edge and both Kimber and Rina grabbed his arms to help pull him up. Once they got him, the others released the cables and collapsed onto the ground.
“What…was…that?” he asked, out of breath, as he came up over the edge.
“Something that’ll think twice before messing with us again,” Rina answered. Then her voice got softer as she laid a hand on the back of Wrecker’s shoulder and asked, “You okay, babe?”
Still breathing heavily, he answered, “Yeah…I’m okay.”
“Makes you miss battling clankers, doesn’t it?” Rex then asked him, trying to be optimistic.
“Yeah…,” Wrecker groaned, exhausted.
After taking a brief rest to catch their breath and letting the adrenaline from the situation die down, the group resumed moving again through the Venator towards where the medical bay should be. They maneuvered a few more corridors before reaching the right spot. The door to the med bay was open just a tiny sliver at the bottom, so Rex and Tech both pushed the door up so it was open completely. It was dark inside just like the rest of the ship, save for the lights from their torches, and in the center was a large surgical pod. There were squeaks coming from the room, meaning rats were scattering about inside.
“This will do nicely,” Rex stated, removing his helmet as he looked around.
Though, Tech had a rebuttal, saying, “I would no longer call this medical bay a sterile environment.”
“Do you prefer to use the facility on Kamino?” Rex asked back.
“This will do nicely,” Tech replied, changing his mind instantly and agreeing with the Captain.
Echo informed everyone that’d calibrate the surgical pod to get things going. He inserted his scomp into the appropriate socket, activated it and seconds later, the lights in the room came on along with the pod and the computer attached to it at the foot of it. The screens beeped as they came to life and electricity whirred and pulsated through the surgical pod as it slowly gained power.
Wrecker was holding his head, moaning in pain as he took his helmet off and sat on the edge of the surgical table, Rina guiding him by the arm. Everyone else started removing their helmets and setting their packs and weapons down against the walls.
Tech pulled out the brain scanner he’d made and declared, “Time to get scanned, Wrecker.”
“Let’s…get this over with,” Wrecker groaned out, ready for the whole ordeal to be over as the pain in his head was seemingly getting worse.
Kida gently pulled Rina away from Wrecker so Tech could put the scanner on his head. “Let Tech do his thing. It’ll be all right,” she soothed Rina as they stopped in the doorway of the med room.
Turning away, Rina said quietly, “He’s in more pain now. I can sense it getting worse and I don’t like it.”
Kimber moved next to the two of them, hearing Rina’s concerns, and said, “Stay calm as best you can, Rina. Tech knows what he’s doing. We’ll get Wrecker’s chip out and everything will be fine.”
“I can’t!” Rina almost snapped back in a hushed voice. “I can’t stay calm until that thing is out of his head.”
“You don’t think I’m worried, too?” Kimber asked in reply, a little frustrated. “Hunter’s going to get his head cut open, as well; all of my boys are. I’m scared to death right now…but panicking isn’t going to help things. The boys need our support right now because they’re all scared, too, even if they’re not outwardly showing it. Not just for Wrecker, but for themselves, also. For once, we need to be the strong ones for them. They're going to need us if they're gonna get through this, so straighten up, okay?”
This was the first time Kimber had ever gotten short like that with Rina and both she and Kida were taken aback at her abruptness. Though, it was understandable why Kimber was so upset. Her whole squad was about to have their brains operated on, which was incredibly risky in and of itself. If something went wrong, there could be dangerous consequences. Rina thought her own worry was bad, but it hadn't even occurred to her how much more afraid Kimber would be. Rina only had one person she feared for most. Kimber had four.
She heaved a shaky sigh. “You're right, boss lady,” she said. “We gotta be strong.”
“Wow, so authoritative,” Kida commented to Kimber. Then she smirked deviously. “I'm sure Hunter loves that…especially in bed.”
“Oh, shut up,” replied Kimber, lightly shoving her.
With a grin, Kida just said back, “I'm incorrigible, I know.”
In that moment, they heard Tech state aloud, “I think I found something.” When everyone gathered around him, he pointed out Wrecker's brain scan on his datapad, showing the chip was ninety degrees from his right orbital floor, below the parietal and temporal intersection.
However, Wrecker was getting more and more agitated and suddenly ripped off the brain scanner from his head, growling, “Get that away from me!” as he shoved it into Tech's chest. He grabbed at his head again, his groans of pain getting louder.
“Something's not right,” Omega pointed out.
“We need to speed this up,” Rex urged.
Echo pressed a few more buttons on the console controlling the surgical pod, hoping to get it to power up faster.
Then Rex spoke up, “You boys got lucky. Very few Clones were immune to the effects of Order 66. It's rare.”
“When the regs attacked the Jedi on Kaller, we didn't understand why,” Hunter responded.
“Uh, maybe we shouldn't talk about the thing that triggers the inhibitor chip around the person with a clearly malfunctioning chip,” Kimber said under her breath, gesturing subtly to Wrecker.
Seeing her point, Rex and Hunter stepped off to the side to continue talking. Kimber looked down to Omega beside her and ran her hand over Omega's hair comfortingly.
The young girl looked up at her. “I'm worried, Kimber. I don't like how much pain Wrecker's in.”
Kneeling down to Omega's level, Kimber told her, “I'm worried, too, but it'll be okay, Omega. He's strong and so are you. I'll be here with you every step of the way.”
Omega began to smile, but then they both heard the sound of a choked cry followed by Tech gasping Wrecker's name. Then Wrecker's voice spoke aloud in a deeper, darker tone no one had ever heard from him:
“You're in direct violation of Order 66.”
When everyone flipped around to see what was going on, they were aghast to see Wrecker holding Tech up by the throat and then, with a loud growl, throwing him into a nearby wall. Tech crashed into the cabinets and collapsed to the floor, unconscious. Wrecker then turned to face the rest of them, an angry and almost bloodthirsty look in his eyes. As he stood up, his tall, hulking form seemed to ominously tower even more over them all.
His chip had activated.
Immediately, Kimber pushed Omega behind her.
“Wrecker, stop!” Rina shouted, moving in front of everyone.
“Rina, don't!” Kimber warned.
The smaller woman looked back steadfastly over her shoulder and simply said with surety, “Don't worry. He would never hurt me.”
Kimber gulped nervously.
Then Rina turned back to face Wrecker, his anger-filled eyes trained solely on her. “Listen, babe, you gotta get your head back in the game,” she said firmly to him, carefully inching closer to him. “This isn't you. You'd never hurt anyone here. I know you…and you know me.”
The giant Clone leered down at her in a way that made the others almost afraid, something nobody had ever experienced with Wrecker. This was definitely not like him. He would never look at Rina in this way, not ever.
He then replied in a voice devoid of all normal emotion except for contempt, “You're a Jedi, Rina Caska. By Order 66, all Jedi must be eliminated.”
In the dim, blue light of the surgical pod, she saw the glint of a single tear falling from his eye.
“Wrecker, I--”
Wrecker moved faster than anyone could've anticipated. He lunged forward and his arm swung out, hitting Rina square in the stomach and sending her flying towards the doorway of the med room. There was a hollow thud and a sickening crack as her back made contact with the doorframe. Then her limp body landed on the floor, motionless, as Kimber and Kida screamed her name in horror.

there’s a knock at the frame of your door. lifting your head from the essay in front of you, your expression softens at seeing your coworker, not a student, there. you honestly don’t know why rex continuously crosses the building— it’s a long haul from the science hall to the english.
not that you mind.
today rex has on a button up, blue with his undershirt peeking out from under it. he’s still in jeans, but some more effort than usual has gone into his outfit.
not that you’re paying attention.
“hey, rex,” you say, taking off your glasses.
“hey,” rex smiles, coming into the classroom. your name is soft on his lips. he’s holding a thick stack of papers. “thought you might want these.”
“oh.” embarrassment flutters up in you. “i was going to come get those.”
“it’s all good,” rex says, shaking his head. “where you want your books?”
you don’t argue with him that they’re copies multiple choice practice and not physical books— the school refuses to buy every student a copy of the workbook and you refuse to make them buy their own. in the meantime you’ll make books in the copy room.
“in the usual place,” you say, watching as rex does so. he sets the stack atop the table at the front of your classroom, then circles over to the front of your desk.
he leans against the closest student desk, and looks over at the work before you. “hows it going?”
“good,” you sigh, shaking your head. “i’m ready for summer.”
“me too,” rex agrees. “hope you don’t have many more of those to go.”
you rest your hand on the few beside you. “i’m almost done. i imagine you’re done?”
“yeah, kids tested on monday. we’re just talking about astronomy in there now.”
“lucky,” you sigh. “i’ll be done next tuesday.”
“that’ll feel good,” rex says.
there’s a beat of quiet.
“are you going to the pta end of year party?” rex asks.
sighing, you nod. “yeah. i’m going to show my face for a few hours and then leave.”
“got other plans?”
humming, you tilt your head to the side. “i rented a bob ross video from the library and have a bottle of wine that’s been chilling in my fridge since spring break.”
rex chuckles. “wouldn’t want to keep you away from that… but if you want, a few of us are gonna leave early and head to lucky’s.”
you raise your eyebrows. “who’s going?”
rex shrugs. “me, cody. some of the science guys.”
you lean back, contemplating it.
“echo’s coming,” rex adds.
ah, one of your own from the english hall.
“i’ll consider it. i might be too wiped,” you say.
“i get it. but if you change your mind…”
“i’ll let you know,” you finish for him.
rex almost gets off his lean, but stays put. “hey, when you decide… give me a call or send me a text. let me give you my number.”
“okay,” you say, pushing a few papers around on your desk to find a stack of sticky notes, handing them off to rex along with your grading pen. there’s a little flutter in your chest.
rex cups the pad in his hand, writing down the numbers diligently. he double checks his handiwork, then hands it back to you.
“i’ll hear from you later,” he says with a smile, pushing off your desk and heading towards your door. “good lucky grading.”
“thanks, rex,” you say.
rex holds his hand on your doorknob, already out of the room. “you want this closed?”
“sure,” you say. you need maybe twenty more minutes before you’ll be done grading. better with no interruptions.
the door shuts gently. you pick up the notepad and look at the digits there, along with rex’s first and last name. a smile that you try to squash forms across your face.
you still yourself. you have essays to grade.

Meeting the 501st
Carrying on from my Force of Nature AU post where I mash the TV show Primal (Genndy Tartakovsky) with the Star Wars prequels, Anakin has crash landed on a hostile planet and is now a feral amnesiac. He’s half-force and he’s going to use that to his benefit to survive this place.
So, years after Anakin has forgotten everything about himself, the Clone Wars are in full swing, the Galaxy is ready to tear itself apart, and both Dooku and the Jedi Council have taken notice of a very biologically active planet that has a bright star of a force signature on it. A force signature that could sway the tide of battle. Is there a nexus point on that planet or is it a person?
Both sides obviously don’t want the other to get it and use it against them so Obi-Wan, his padawan Ahsoka, and the 212th/501st go to the planet to check it out. (The 501st are kind of a satellite Legion that attach onto other Jedi led Battalions as and when needed… they are claiming Ahsoka as their Jedi if the war is still going when she's Knighted.) Expecting resistance from the Separatists, they don’t really anticipate the planet itself to resist them.
They soon realise this planet is hellish and the less men they have on the ground the better. Miasma fog that disorientate you and alter your memories, entire forests that move to grab ships flying overhead and bring them down to the forest floor for carnivorous fungi to feed upon, a crimson moon that crests over the horizon inciting predators to swarm and hunt on mass.
Rex says he can handle this with just Torrent and he’ll keep in regular comms with General Kenobi who is probably needed elsewhere more. Obi-Wan wants to stay, because hot damn does that force signature feel familiar but it can’t be, Anakin has been missing/dead for 4 years, and he can’t keep his priorities in order. So he leaves Ahsoka with them to keep an eye on the Force signature (that's been moving) but so far it’s keeping to the dense jungle that seems to take up half the planet. They set up camp and wait, feeling very creeped out by all the life on this planet that wants to eat and kill everything else and not seeing any clankers. Ahsoka's hackles are raised near constantly.
Fives: This is like Umbara all over again Echo: Don’t.
I’m gonna say all the boys are here because I want them to be and having only Obi-Wan lead them would have changed which battles they went to and how they fought them etc. (Also no Krell, because that guy can choke). The legions would have been shuffled around as there is one less Jedi General (who could pull a win out of his ass) to send off to different campaigns. Whenever Obi-Wan isn’t actively giving orders, he just lets Rex and Cody team up to do what they do best tbh. Rex wasn’t made a Captain of the most elite trooper calibre for no reason and there are three additional ARCs in Torrent.
They are shocked to discover that there are actually people living here but they are kept neat and secure behind their fortified walls. Tiny civilisations that strive to keep the nightmares out, by any means possible with vastly different lifestyles. You’ve got the witches who steal the life force of others to create more of their own, the humanoids who live exclusively underground to keep out of sight from aerial predators, and the more advanced communities who Do Not Leave their borders that they’ve made safe.
So the boys do similarly, making camp in a sort of fort - electrified fences, flood lights, constant fires, etc - and they are keeping watch when suddenly someone is sitting on top of a stack of crates handling their weaponry. They have no idea how he got past them but he looks human and doesn’t seem to want to eat them so they’re startled rather than threatened after a few minutes of watching him (they think it’s a him) not do much of anything. He’s clearly curious more than anything and he’s nowhere near as built as any of the clones. They could take him, right? The person looks kind of amused by their reaction anyway and darts off to a higher vantage point when one of the troops makes a grab for him. He’s a dark blonde, with hair that has grown into a curly mop, and the kind of lanky frame that's all limbs but with obvious deceptive muscle and strength to haul himself around that gracefully and that quickly. There’s also some nasty looking exaggerated canines and the clones are pretty sure humans don’t normally have reflective lenses in their eyes.
Hardcase: Uhhh, Rex, you copy? Rex: Yeah? Hardcase: There’s someone in the camp Rex: Repeat that?? Hardcase: He’s not wearing boots either. We think he came out of the jungle. Rex: On my way
Ahsoka, taking one look at Anakin, perched on top of their ship and looking down at all the gathered troopers like a cat in a tree, points and goes ‘that’s him. He’s the one we’re looking for’.
Still doesn’t really change the fact that he seems quite content to just bother them by being a nosy bastard about their camp but other than that he’s not really causing a problem. Or running away. He also has some amazing adaptation abilities - if he’s half-force, does that mean the Force is responsible for half of his genetic code? How much weird shit could come of that if the Force can handle slight morphological changes - He can grow gills if he’s kept underwater so he doesn’t drown. The reflective pupils aid him to see in the dark but during the day they are absent. Some of the men swear they’ve even seen him sporting a long flexible tail to hold things from time to time. The men all start bonding with this bizarre cryptid while Ahsoka and Anakin compare how big their fangs are and how sharp their claws are. Ahsoka is ecstatic that she now has a hunting partner because finally, someone gets it.
Rex: Didn’t think humans could get fangs like that, or claws Ahsoka: I’m not sure he’s entirely human. Seems too wild for that Anakin: Thank you Rex/Ahsoka: What
Up to this point he’s been entirely non-verbal and the troops assumed he couldn’t understand Basic. He absolutely can (retrograde amnesia doesn’t make you forget language) so he’s just been fucking with them. That’s ingrained, amnesia will not make him any less of a little shit. Thus begins the million and one questions they have for him once they realise he can speak and does understand them. He can also understand their droids.
They all start to let their guard down because huh he’s just a dude after all, trapped on a horrible planet and had to make do. It’s all fun and games until they see Anakin go from stationary to launching himself at a T-rex's throat that just charged out of the jungle in under a second.
They respect the fact that he is also an apex predator on this planet from that point onward.

TESTING THE WATERS PART 3
Pairings: Captain Rex/fem!reader
Warnings: NSFW AHEAD MINORS DNI
Tumblr media
“Y/n”
You know that voice anywhere. Sure they all sound the same but, there was something special in the way he said your name.
“Rex?” you turned to face the man in question. He looked unsure of himself, he stood awkwardly clearly wanting to say something but couldn’t find the right words.
You decided to show him some mercy and you got up to look him in the eye.
“What’s going on?” you asked. You couldn’t help the hurt laced in your tone. Rex could hear it in the way you addressed him; it broke his heart more knowing it was him who caused it.
“You won’t talk to me? You won’t look at me? What did I do?” you looked at him expectantly. His eyes darted around your face, his throat suddenly dry, unable to form words. He simply lowered his head.
“Rex- I…Please tell me what I did. I can’t- you always- you were always there when I needed you and now I-” you paused. How did you tell him you basically were in love with him in the most professional way possible?
“Come with me” he said and led you to his tent.
You huffed and followed your heart beating out of your chest.
The tent flapped closed behind you Rex scrubbed a hand over his face.
“Y/n I betrayed you” he said looking at the floor.
You huffed a dry laugh “what?” you asked.
“I- I betrayed your trust” he said ashamed of himself. He began to pace the floor of his tent, datapads and other reports screwed on his small desk and cot.
“I’m not following,” you said quietly. “Are you alright?”
He sighed and turned to look you in the eye.
“Back at the lake. You were- vulnerable, and well…I meant to shield you from the others looking when you went to change behind the tree.” your heart quickened at his words, could he be saying what you think he was saying?
“I don’t know why, I don’t know what came over me. I respect you y/n. I respect all of you. You are one of the most valuable members of this team. You are smart and kind and this team wouldn’t be the same without you” he said.
You flushed at his words. “But you…betrayed me?” you echoed his words back to him. He tore his gaze from you, then sighed looking back up to your face contorted in confusion and a little worry.
Maker, you are so pretty. He scolds his mind for supplying unhelpful thoughts no matter how true they are, now was not the time.
“I looked,” he said before gulping, wary of your reaction. “Y/n, I don’t deserve your kindness. I am so sorry…I took advantage of your vulnerability. I am a captain of a lot of men, and you…you are a blessing to me- to us”
Your eyes widened. He looked…at me? When I was naked? Does this mean he likes me the way I like him?
You lowered your head to try and hide the amused smile that snuck its way on your face. “Rex” you called softly.
He shook his head. “No, y/n. You don’t understand, if I made you uncomfortable I understand completely. That’s not how a captain should treat his squad members and I-”
You cut him off by placing a gentle hand on his bicep. You giggled softly at his wide-eyed reaction. “Maker Rex, is that why you were avoiding me?” you asked.
He hesitated. “Well- I figured-” your laugh cut him off and you shook your head. “Oh what am I gonna do with you?” you asked looking up at him. He raised a brow.
“What?” he asked embarrassed that seconds ago he poured his heart out to you.
“Rex you got to stop beating yourself up over these things” you smiled, then faltered when you knew you should tell him how it made you feel.
“You know…I don’t really mind,” you said in a small voice. He turned fully to face you, which gave you a moment to really take him in. Maker, he was big, tall, sturdy and broad- okay focus!
Feeling a bit more self-conscious you fidgeted with the hem of your shirt. “I- um- well if you want you could…you could look again” you said and looked up at him through your lashes.
Rex was taken aback. You wanted him to look? “I- what?” he asked dumbly.
“You could um-?” you looked back to the entrance of the tent immediately regretting your decision. “I’m so sorry I shouldn't have- I’m sorry I’ll just-”
You turned to leave but the captain caught your arm, a silent plea for you to stay.
You stopped and turned to face him. He moved closer, you could feel the heat radiating off his body, the breath fanning softly over the top of your head.
“Don’t go” he said. Not an order, there was no real room that left you without a choice.
You huffed softly and took a small step closer, certain he could hear the pounding of your heart.
“I value and respect you too, you know” you said.
His eyes widened, you took a deep breath and continued. “I think you are…one of the bravest men I have ever met. You always put others first, and you never give up. You are brilliant and kind. And I think you do deserve kindness. Not just from me, but from everyone” you basically emptied your heart in front of this beautiful man.
Rex couldn’t believe his ears, sure he had been praised before, but by someone he cared about so deeply? This was another level.
“I really admire you, Captain” you say softly avoiding his gaze. “And if I'm being honest, I don't think I am worthy of you,” you added shakey.
“Cyar'ika-” he said gently. You met his eyes, oh maker those gorgeous honey eyes. He took your chin in his hands and smoothed over your cheek with his fingers.
“Yes?” you asked breathlessly. You were having a small freak out over the proximity of the both of you. You dreamed of this moment countlessly never expecting him to maybe return your feelings.
Rex gazed down upon your face, your lips parted and your eyelids fluttering shut. Maker, you were a dream.
Apparently he was taking too long to admire you, and normally you would welcome his eyes roaming over your figure but right now you were impatient.
“Rex, if you don’t kiss me right now I will re-assign myself back to Kamino” you said with no real heat behind your words.
He chuckled lightly and dipped his head down, his lips parting slightly.
His lips were soft.
Softer than what you imagined. He took his time, he waited for so long to kiss you and he was not about to waste it.
You sighed against his mouth, moving in sync with him. Like the waves crashing against the shore.
When you pulled back, he dove in and when he pushed forward you reeled back.
Grasping the back of his neck feeling the short, tuff, hair at the nape of his neck as he groaned against your mouth.
Rex’s hands found purchase on your waist, his arms wrapping all the way around securing you against his body to keep you close.
You wasted no time and parted your lips to sink your tongue in the cavern of his mouth to really taste him. Maker, he was divine.
He quickly returned the favor and soon the both of you were desperately licking and tasting one another like you were each other’s last meal.
You pulled back to catch your breath. Rex rested his forehead to yours panting slightly, then dropping his head down to leave soft kisses to your cheek, neck, and collar bone.
You gripped his scalp, his lips on your flushed skin was overwhelming, and you were becoming more needy by the second. The pulse between your legs was growing harder to ignore.
“Rex” you breathed. “Mm?” he hummed gently, nipping your ear. “Would you like to have the honor of removing my uniform for me? For real this time?” you asked, batting your lashes up at him.
He groaned softly at your request and went right to work, locating the zipper in no time and quickly unbuttoning your trousers. Soon you were left in nothing but your undergarments.
“Oh, oisk” he cursed. Rex was hard, he had been the moment you told him he could look. You were all but oblivious to the effect you had over him.
You bit your lip seductively and began to remove your chest binder, and panties. Making sure your movements were slow and precise so that he really gets a long look.
Rex is silent as he watches you, and you begin to fidget a little hoping to god you didn’t disappoint him.
“Maker, you're beautiful” Rex broke the silence, he couldn't take his eyes off you. As if your body could put him in trance and you and you alone would be able to counter it.
You stepped towards him slowly, your heart screaming at you, while the wetness between your thighs grew with each step.
“Rex…” you breathe
“Yes?” he asks. He loved the sound of his name on your lips, maybe a little too much.
Oh boy, here it goes.
“I want you” you mutter.
His breath hitches in his throat. “Are you sure?” he asks, wary of your reaction.
You could almost scoff at him, he really has no idea that you would die for him if he asked.
“Maker, yes!” you exclaim moving closer.
You took his large hand in your much smaller ones and guided them to your bare breasts.
His thumbs swiped over your nipples instantly hardening them, the feeling leaving you slightly dizzy. And a couple more swipes over your peak, he then began to leave small circles over your nipples.
Your head tipped back and let out a small squeak.
“Rex…” you began.
He looked at you with a quirk of his brow. “Yes?” he asked. “As much as I love what you are doing…could you maybe take me to bed?” you asked sweetly.
His smile broke into a grin at your words.
You wrapped your arms around his neck to kiss him hungrily, as he walked you backwards to his bed cot.
He laid you down gently as he took the time to take in that it was you, you of all people in his bed. He huffed out a small laugh and kissed down your neck, your collar bone and the valley in between your breasts.
His lips on your skin ignited the fire that simmered slowly every time you saw him, but now was on full blast as he took his time with you now.
Rex kneeled at the foot of his cot, where he was face-to-face with your pussy. Something flashed across his eyes that you couldn't quite clock. It was something like a mix of hunger, adoration, and lust.
Rex looks up at you, asking the silent question. You gulped, knowing that this was new for the both of you. “H-have you done anything like this before?” you asked. Rex looked surprised, as if he wasn’t expecting you to ask him that.
“I've only ever been with one other girl. But that was during my cadet years and I hardly remember it.” he confessed in a low voice.
“You?”
You shook your head. “I’ve never gotten this far.” You admitted casting your eyes down in shame.
Rex stroked your thigh and smiled “you have no idea how thrilled I am to do this with you.” he said.
You grinned. “I think you underestimate me” you teased, wiggling your hips a bit.
He chuckled, the sound like music to your ears. You loved Rex’s laugh. Gods you love him.
The first swipe of his tongue had you seeing stars.
“Shit! Rex!” you squealed. Your fist gripping the cot frame as he pleasured you.
You couldn’t see, due to your eyes being squeezed shut, but Rex was in heaven. Somehow he just knew you would taste divine, and here he was fulfilling that fantasy. With each pass of his tongue, your sweet, tangy taste leaves him to feel as though he could die happily.
Rex’s nose bumped your clit a little too well, leaving you to almost scream bloody murder before clapping a hand over your mouth. You were still in a semi public area where any of Rex’s brothers could still hear you.
Rex was terrified that some shiny or even worse his general would stop by for a status report only to find him going down on his nurse. He would be thrown out in a heartbeat. If word got around, he doubted his General would give him up, although a very awkward and long talk would be in store if that ever happened.
Rex sunk his tongue into your entrance, clapping his rough palm up and around your thighs to keep you from squirming too much so he can focus on making you cum.
Your heaving breaths and soft moans sending Rex into a frenzy, you breathed his name, while gripping the back of his head with what hair you had to work with from his closely shaved cut.
“Rex- I-I’m close baby- shit! Gonna cum-”
He then removed his tongue from your entrance to suck on your clit hard.
Your whole body had a violent reaction and you came on his face with a pitched shriek. Rex continued to lap at your folds taking in every last drop like his life depended on it.
You were becoming overstimulated, but the look on Rex's face as he cleaned you off his mouth was so blissed and in heaven you almost let him go on.
You scratch your nails lightly over his scalp to get his attention. He opened his eyes to lock onto yours and you flashed him your dopest-love-struck grin.
Rex moved to his feet, wiping his mouth of the slick painting his chin. You gulped as you took him in, towering over you His broad frame, scars littering his torso. His dark eyes glazed over in a look that could only read lust, His bronze skin licked with sweat oh god you need him inside you now.
You sat up on the cot and ran your hands across his chest. Feeling every bump and tissue you have treated, or hadn’t seen before.
“Like what you see?” teased Rex quirking a brow. You giggled scooting closer to him. “Absolutely I do” you replied with a grin.
“Good” he said with a smile. “Lay back for me” he instructed.
You knew that tone, it was the tone he used when giving orders on the battlefield. This was Captain Rex. and you would be lying if you said it didn’t turn you on. But the tone of his voice alone had you clenching around nothing.
“Yes sir” you breathed getting on your back.
Rex sucked in a breath, and shucked off his pants leaving him in his boxers. His arousal was evident enough just by looking at the bulge in his pants begging for attention.
Your mouth immediately fell open the moment he stepped out of his boxers and took himself in his hand to slowly stroke himself.
“Holy shit” you nearly whimpered. Rex chuckled, the sexeist thing you have ever heard in the longest time. You always loved Rex’s laugh but this…this was different. This was a laugh coming from a man who knows what he wants. And reserves it only for you.
You bit your lip to try and not have any more noises leave your mouth.
Rex leans forward to grip your chin between his forefinger and thumb. You let out a breathy sigh as he leans in to kiss you again. You couldn’t help but moan when his lips make contact with yours.
He steps up onto the cot to crawl over your body and rest his frame against yours. Perfect. It's the only way to describe this feeling. Utterly perfect.
Rex lifts his hips to take himself in hand again and line himself up to your entrance. You reach down and spread your lower lips for him granting him welcome access inside your warm walls.
Before he pushes in he looks at you. “Are you sure you want this?” he asks. “Yes! More than anything-” you reply almost out of breath. Rex huffs out a laugh. “I’ve been wanting to do this since I met you” he confesses.
You take his cheeks in your hands and kiss him hungrily. Pulling back to rest your forehead to his. “Good. I wouldn’t want anyone else” you whispered to his ear.
Rex presses his nose to your cheek and moans.
He pushes in slowly, letting you take your time adjusting to him. Rex is not small so the sheer stretch was enough to send you tumbling over the edge. You didn’t let go of his face the entire time he spent filling you to the brim with the two of you sharing words of praise and sweet gentle kisses wherever you could leave them.
Once he bottomed out he looked at you, you understood the silent question and nodded. His first thrust was an out of body experience, Rex clamped his mouth over yours to swallow up the near-screaming cry of pleasure that escaped you.
He started off slow, taking his time to really tear you apart with how much he filled you. Through muted cries of pleasure you whimpered words of praise and encouragement to your captain nearly babbling like an idiot just because you loved the feeling of him inside you.
Rex wasn’t all put together either. His grunts growing louder in volume the faster he picked up the pace chasing his own pleasure as well as kissing you wherever he wanted, whenever he wanted.
“Ah- shit cyar'ika! Fuck you feel amazing…taking me so well- shit!” he gritted through clenched teeth.
“Rex! Oh shit- baby…just like that, yes!” you moaned.
Rex was almost analmastic in the way his pace picked up and was slamming into you harder than before. Gone was the gentleman you started making love to, this was Rex desperate for release, and you would do anything to get him there.
In the dark of your lonely nights you spent on Kamino after a mission with the boys you would allow yourself to indulge your fantasies. Ones that were eerily similar to the one you were living right now. In those fantasies while you held a vibartor to your clit, whispering Rex’s name along with his title wondering if he ever would enjoy being called by his rank in bed.
It turns out you were right.
It just slipped out without you even realizing, until you saw the shift in Rex’s eyes, and a low growl ripping from his throat.
“Say that again” he groaned, picking up his pace.
“Captain…!” you wailed.
Rex hissed out a curse and thrusted into you harder and faster than before, leaving you a wreck underneath him. Not that you minded one bit.
You reached down to rub your clit.
“Shit- mesh’la-! You keep doing that, I'm not gonna last much longer-!” Rex hissed through his teeth.
“Please-” you whined.
Without another word, Rex hoisted you off your back and down onto his cock once more to thrust up into you while tightening his grip on your hips.
The new angle had you mewling and you continued to rub small fast circles on your nub.
“I’m close- cyar'ika- agh-! w-where should I-?” Rex asked in between grunts.
“Inside! Please!” you begged, wrapping your arms around his neck to hold him closer.
As a nurse you knew that most clones were fixed. And as a medical professional the Kaminos had you get fixed with a birth control chip before you started working there. You were good with switching them out so you were not worried in the slightest.
You cupped his cheek and leaned in to kiss him as you clenched around him as you came with a shrill squeak.
Just as you were riding out your high Rex began to lose his rhythm and thrusted into you once, twice, three times until he finally came inside you, shooting thick ropes of himself all along your walls.
Leaning your forehead to his, you kissed along his cheek and chin, then traveled down to his neck leaving lingering kisses and hickeys where you knew they wouldn't be stopped when he was in full armor.
“Thank you” he whispered after a moment. You looked him in the eye, brows furrowing. What in the galaxy is he thanking me for?
He must have read your expression because he answered.
“For this, letting me have this with you”
Your eyes rounded, and you gave him a soft smile. “I should thank you, for being my first- and definitely living up to the hype” you grinned.
He chuckled.
“I didn’t hurt you did I?” He looked worried. You shook your head “I don’t believe you ever could” you replied, swiping a thumb over his cheek.
He kissed you again, softer, and even more gentle than the first.
He had fully softened inside you and he pulled out slowly, the mixture of both your arousal spilling out of you. Rex groaned at the sight and looked around for any towels or rags to clean you with.
When he found none, he bent down and licked it all up with his tongue cleaning you off.
You gasped, not at all expecting this as his solution. “Rex!” you squeaked.
He hummed entirely too busy to answer you.
It felt too good to have him stop now. “You keep doing that and you’ll have another wave to clean up” you warned, fighting the urge to buck your hips in time with his licks.
Rex hummed again and nipped lightly at your clit sending your hips flying out of control. “Ah! You did this on propose” you accused.
You felt him smile into your pussy. And you couldn't help but smile back.
Soon enough you came again, and Rex was more than happy to lick you clean.
Coming back up and crawling over you, you tugged him to lie on top of you so you could kiss him again. Tasting yourself on his lips.
“I really hope the general doesn't need us anytime soon” you whispered.
Rex smirked. “Tell him I had a medical emergency” he shrugged.
“Sure, right” you rolled your eyes.
Rex hoisted you up in the same position you were when you both finished a while ago.
“Rex?” you asked, brow raised.
He grinned. “I’m not finished with you yet”

Thoughts/Analysis of Ep 9
@saturn-sends-hugs made a great post earlier talking about her thoughts on this episode and now that I have time, I’m gonna drop mine down below.
Two quick warnings as well. 1. This is long. 2. If the formatting is different from how my posts normally are, it’s because I’m writing this on the website, not the app, like I usually do.
SPOILERS FOR TBB S2
One thing that I was pleasantly surprised about was just how much of the episode was spent focusing on the Echo leaving situation. I thought they were going to go down the route you see a lot in Star Wars, which is to bring it up in one conversation and then just move on. But they actually talked about it!
Now before we get into any deeper analysis, I just want to touch on something that I’ve seen some people talking about online, and that’s the fact that the guys are only really having this conversation because a child is pushing them to do it. Now don’t get me wrong, I would love to see the Batch talking about their feelings without needing any encouragement to do so, but let’s be real, these are the clones we’re talking about. They don’t do that.
The clones have always been an emotionally repressed bunch. Because they lose so many of their brothers on the regular, they just learn to compartmentalise their feelings and move on because if they didn’t, then they’d spend so much time processing their feelings that they wouldn’t actually get much else done. Not to mention that feelings are probably considered a sign of weakness, so the clones hide their emotions so that the Kaminoans don’t think that they’re going to be a liability on the field.
It’s not healthy, but it makes sense.
Now onto the rest of the episode. I’m going to do a breakdown of each character in this episode and then touch on the entire thing as a whole.
Omega
Omega is clearly the one who is visibly taking this the hardest. I think the reason that she is so much more open about Echo than Crosshair is because she’s spent more time around him. Omega only joined the squad at the same time Crosshair left, so while she’s sad he’s not there, she doesn’t really know what it’s like for him not to be around. On the other hand, the entire time that she’s been with the Batch, Echo has been there to support her.
Echo was clearly very protective of her and took on more of the “mum” role within the group. I wouldn’t be surprised if Omega also felt a connection with him due to the fact that they were both the “odd ones out” in the squad. So when Echo left, she lost one of the few constants in her life. And what’s worse, is that he left willingly.
For Omega, she hasn't just got to process the fact that he’s gone, it’s the fact that he went away by choice. And it hits even harder knowing the conversations that she had with him at the beginning of the episode/show. Echo reassured her that their lives were not ruined by Omega joining them but then he leaves to join Rex. And the reason he leaves is because he can’t do what he wants to do with the rest of the squad, because they want to protect Omega.
He assured her that he does not resent her for changing their lives and then left due to the fact that her being there is preventing him from doing what he feels he needs to do. Now obviously we know that Echo doesn’t blame Omega for any of this, nor does he want to leave her or the Batch behind, but she probably feels a level of guilt about the whole situation. She’s likely going to be questioning if it’s her fault he’s gone.
But then she’s also dealing with the fear that the Batch is going to move on from her one day. When Tech said that the squad existed before Echo and that it will exist after, Omega probably thought that they’d have the same stance about her. That if she were to go, then they’d just move on. It’s obviously not true, but she is likely to see it that way.
Tech
Poor Tech is clearly not doing as well as he thinks he is. He acknowledges that change is a natural part of life, but he maybe doesn’t cope with it as well as he thinks he does. Yes, the squad existed before Echo, but that does not mean that going back to how things were before is going to work. They can’t go back to how things were before.
First of all, Crosshair isn’t there anymore. Second of all, they’re living in a post-Echo, post-Omega-joining period of time. It’s never going to be the same as it once was and Tech is struggling with that change. Him and Echo became partners in crime, so suddenly going back to not having that extra person to help you out is making things difficult.
The poor man is visibly stressed out, particularly in the way he treats Wrecker. Every little (and big) thing that goes wrong is just adding onto the pressure and Tech is struggling to cope with the situation. Too many things are changing at once and it’s becoming overwhelming.
And then Omega questions why he’s acting the way he is and Tech suddenly has to a) work out what’s apparently wrong with what he’s doing and b) find a way to verbalise how he’s feeling. And he realises that how he’s processing things isn’t wrong, but that Omega doesn’t understand why he acts the way he does. I love the scene in the cave so much because it’s not just a learning opportunity for Tech to assess what he says around Omega, but also a chance for Omega to learn that Tech just processes things in a different way. It’s not that he doesn’t care, he just takes a more logical approach to his emotions.
(I’m not going to go into detail about Tech and autism, not because it’s not important to the discussion, but because as a neurotypical person I don’t believe that I should be commenting too much on a topic I don’t necessarily understand. I would recommend checking out Florian’s videos on TikTok (Tall Man Tech/ @theflorianrey) because they have some great discussions about this subject).
Wrecker
Wrecker and Hunter are the two that I have the least to talk about here, not because I think they’re going through fewer emotions, just that they’re not addressed in this episode quite as much as Omega’s and Tech's.
But I found watching Wrecker in the episode very interesting because this is the first time that we’ve seen him so frustrated for so long. Wrecker is the happy go lucky member of the group and rarely expresses any “negative” emotion for longer than about 3 seconds (with a few exceptions). But him and Tech are really aggravating each other this episode. Everyone is stressed out and when Tech accuses Wrecker of being the reason why things started going wrong, Wrecker gets defensive and fires back.
And it doesn’t get better when the rockfall happens because not only is he mad at Tech, he’s also stuck in an enclosed space with him. We know that Wrecker is very protective over his family and losing two members is something he’s struggling with. He acknowledges Omega’s feelings about the situation being weird and I truly believe that his “you get used to it” is in reference to Crosshair, but I don’t think that “used to it” means over it. Learning to live with those emotions is not the same as processing them and it’s getting to the point where those feelings are starting to overflow.
Hunter
Hunter is the one who is having to mediate the situation, but that means he isn’t really working through his own emotions. Without his second in command (Echo), Hunter is the only person who really has the responsibility of making sure that the rest of the group is alright, which means putting his own feelings aside to try and manage the others. He’s very much trying to diffuse the situation without handling his own emotions first.
I saw a really great analysis from @thejedimama on TikTok, who was talking about how the four elements (earth, fire, air and water) are used to symbolise things throughout the episode. One of the things I loved from that analysis is the idea that the electrical storm is symbolic of the conflict between Wrecker and Tech. At the beginning of the episode, Hunter says that the storm is moving away from them, but it suddenly ends up catching up the them after Tech and Wrecker start fighting with each other. The conflict between them was brewing and caught up to them in the same way the storm did.
And it’s Hunter who is keeping an eye on that storm, much in the same way he’s keeping tabs on Wrecker and Tech. He’s trying to protect his brothers, but with the shear amount of things going wrong, it all kind of blows up in their face (haha, blows up... because of the ipsium... that was unintentional) and they’re stuck in this storm of emotions that Hunter is having difficulties controlling.
I think Hunter liked having Echo around because he had someone who could help him work through situations. Now, with everything going wrong, he really needs someone to confer with, but that someone isn’t there. Hunter is left struggling to keep up the front that he is okay because he has to try and help the people around him.
The Batch As A Whole
It is clear that the group are very much not having a fun time right now. They’re struggling to work through the emotions of losing two of their squad members and now with the added stress of being trapped in a cave and losing the Marauder etc. the feelings are all just bubbling over.
And actually, I think losing the Marauder is kind of symbolic of how everything is going at the moment. They have literally lost their home. They are stuck floating because the things in their life that they rely on are drifting away from them and it’s leaving them in the lurch. It’s more change than they can handle.
And I love that they touch on the practical issues that arise from Echo leaving as well. Sure, they used to be a group of four, but they haven’t had to deal with one of them being a child. How do you split up a group of four people when you don’t want one of them to be alone at any point? They were already struggling to get through Cid’s missions and now they’re trying to navigate one of their members disappearing at the same time.
The clones were trained for war, but they were not trained for this situation. None of them know what they’re doing.
I’m curious to see whether this narrative continues into the next episode. Imo, the next episode ("Retrieval") is going to be about them getting the Marauder and I’m curious as to whether this is going to symbolise them taking steps to work through the situation, to finally take something back, not lose it.
So yeah, I guess the summary is the Batch don’t know what they’re doing, everything is going wrong and everyone keeps fighting because none of them know how to process emotions. I’m definitely interested to see where it goes from here.
[I’m not sure if I like how this post turned out. Does it make sense? I don’t know. It feels like one of those situations where I have a lot to say but no idea how to say it. Oh well. This is very long and I hope I got the point across. Like I said in the post, there are some other creators who have touched on this topic who I recommend listening to because they also have some great thoughts.]
Edit: fixed a couple of grammatical errors. Definitely didn't catch all of them but good enough. 😅

How The Bad Batch Might End
So, as I’ve been writing Aftermath, I came up with a few ideas as to how the show might end. And it could be with season 3.
Now, most thought that getting Crosshair out would be the season finale, but now I think the Siege or Assault of Mt. Tantiss is actually going to be the show’s big finale.
Hunter, Echo and Wrecker are just not going to be able to get in on their own, they need help. I could picture season 3 mostly being about them gathering information and allies, aside from a few episodes focused more on what’s happening inside that base.
Also, with all the other clones kept there as test subjects, Rex and his network surely want to get in there as well. That was pretty much the original reason Echo returned in the first place; he was trying to find out where the Empire shipped those prisoners to.
So, I predict a team-up between the Bad Batch and Rex’s clones to get into Tantiss, get everyone out…and along the way they might try to kill Hemlock and destroy his work.
We already have Crosshair and Omega inside, and with a bit of luck…Tech (if he indeed survived and was taken by Hemlock). They might be able to get information out, commit sabotage or cause distractions when the attack commences. And who knows, maybe Emerie Karr and Nala Se will have a part as well, even if it’s just to spite Hemlock and the Empire in Nala Se’s case.
I also like to think that at some point the entire Bad Batch is going to be reunited. Think about it: during the entire run of the show, the Batch was only together in the first episode, splitting up in the end. This is also a reason why I assume Tech is alive, because we’re gonna get everyone together for the final battle of the show or something. Maybe there will be permanent deaths in the main cast, but…we had them together for the beginning, and they should get them together again at least one last time before the end of the show.
I’m almost certain Hemlock will be killed in the very end and at least some of his work will be lost (not all, considering what we see in the Mandalorian, but enough to set the Empire back). I could picture the Empire bombing Mt. Tantiss once they lost control, or try to take it back, but I’m sure some clones like Rex will make it out in the end. The survivors part ways, either going into hiding, continuing the fight, etc.
If some or all of the Bad Batch make it, maybe they can finally settle on Pabu, either to lay low or permanently. Would give Tech and Phee a chance to finally work things out…look I just want one romantic relationship in Star Wars, involving a main character, that doesn’t end in tragedy. Seriously, my reaction to romance in Star Wars shouldn’t be “Oh no. One of them is so dead.”, which it kinda of is at this point. Anyway, getting off topic.
It’s also possible we end with a flashforward, kinda like in Rebels. I could picture a now older/adult Omega going to join the newly formed Rebel Alliance.
She’s seen what the Empire is doing, has been a victim herself and Pabu is a safe haven for refugees, was even before the Empire continued to oppress various planets. And she always wanted to help anyone they crossed paths with throughout the show.
We can have Crosshair join her; he seems like he would have some trouble settling into a peaceful life and he would probably want some payback…also it’s his turn to be space-dad, in season 3 as a whole really. And it would be kinda nice, after she always asked him to come back/join them in the previous seasons and now he’s going with her, even if he’s visibly ageing.
Anyhow, those are just my wild thoughts at this point in time.

Ok had a long car ride so guess what EP11 THOUGHTS LETS GOOOO:
(plus a good amount of ep12 predictions cause uh i am very excited bkshsjjkssk)
Couple little things first, starting with WHY DID I HAVE TO SEE NALA SE AGAIN. I mean I knew logically we would see her again but that doesn’t mean I was ready for it >:( i do not forgive u for fives u cruel cruel long lady
Then the batch telling Cid off!!! Slay!! Absolutely slay get it that is so important, especially that Omega was directly calling her out for leaving them stranded. I’m really interested to see where that storyline goes and if they either end up leaving Cid (and probably adding to Omegas trust issues in the process cause WOW everyone is letting her down these days (echo i love u but ur girl is not ok)), or if they stay with her and she gets some sort of redemption arc? Idk, can’t decide which seems more likely, but all I can say is I hope next episode has absolutely nothing to do with it. Like it’s an interesting storyline but… yeahh…
And oh god, the boys walking around the ship, why was Wrecker the only one being smart??? Like Tech just ran off on his own, knowing full well the creature was most likely still on the ship, Hunter had his just mwah chefs kiss line of “Whatever did this wasn’t human,” like… HMMM HUNTER I HADNT NOTICED (“And where there’s a farm, there’s usually a farmer!”) But Wrecker was actually paying attention!! He picked up the volt-staff (which like yeah he was gonna anyways but it was still smart) and he made note of the walls being reinforced meaning whatever they were holding must be something strong. And later in the episode he sees the Empire snag the zillo beast and he takes note of how “They’re not killing it. They’re taking it.” Like I love those little moments where Wrecker just passively shows off how smart he is?? He plays the big goofy guy since it’s just kinda his personality, but he still knows his stuff. Hell, he made a rocket launcher out of parts from a separatist tank in less than a minute while under fire from the enemy?? And it worked perfectly? And repeatedly??? Anyway Wrecker spiel over but the man is a genius and I love him.
Tech and Omega’s moments in this episode, oh i lOVE THEM. Him messing up and scaring her then kinda not knowing how to fix it, Omega unplugging his datapad to make him get going, Tech immediately covering her while they ran from explosion omG I LOVE THEM. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH they are so wonderful and sweet and perfect and Filoni I swEAR YOU BETTER NOT TOUCH THEM (I feel like they’re safe for the most part but still, I do not trust. (like of all of them I think Hunter, Omega and Wrecker are the safest? They kinda can’t be taken out; you need the leader, you can’t lose the kid, and Wrecker is pretty much the majority of the comic relief. And Tech is safe-ish too cause he’s just such a character type that I feel like you can’t get rid of him. But uh… Echo and Cross are not safe. They are very much so in danger, maybe Echo most of all and oh god I am scared for him. And also Cody if he ever comes back. …where is cody..?))
OK and now for bigger things like oMG ECHO AND REX HOLY SHIBSJSBSJBSKZNZKDNOEBEKSNSKLSMSNSJXLDNSKNSKS YES YES ABSOLUTELY CALL ECHO AND REX I NEED TO SEE THEMMMMMM!!! The way Hunter did his little main character moment slow zoom when he said that? There’s absolutely no way that’s not important to this weeks episode or at least the one after that so AAAAAA I AM SO EXCITEDDDDD. The batch has needed Echo so much in every single episode since he left; Tech going off on his own in this one felt so wrong because Echo should’ve been right there with himmm!! (i mean he should 100% be with rex but like you get what i mean)
And at the end when Lama Su mentions kidnapping Omega again? That feels equally important. Not only is the Empire going to have to admit that Clone Force 99 isn’t dead, but they’re going to have to start hunting them down again to get Omega. And to me, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw Crosshair being ordered to hunt Omega down in particular, since he knows the batch so well and would know best how to snatch Omega from them. (Also like story-wise… who else would it be? …Boba?) Now would that be so incredibly painful and awful to see? Yes, yes it would. Am I still incredibly excited to see it? ALSO YES.
And with both of these things, the Echo and Rex mention and a target on Omega, as well as the fact that this next episode is (i’m pretty sure?) confirmed to have Crosshair in it, I’m really really hoping the episode follows either of them (Cross or Rex and Echo) and their paths end up crossing?? Like maybe Crosshair gets his orders to hunt down Omega, and in trying to track the batch he ends up finding a lead on just Echo? Or maybe it follows Rex and Echo looking into the zillo beast and in trying to find out more they run into Crosshair? And maybe they find out abt Cody??? And anD AND OOO maybe Echo has a moment where he finally decides, fuck it, I can’t leave my brother with the empire any longer and he like tries to reason with Cross? Idk but either way I am REALLY hoping they cross paths somehow plEASE ITS BEEN SO LONG SINCE IVE SEEN EITHER OF THEMMM 😭😭😭
like it is in fact womens history month and also my birthday on thursday so mr filoni is actually legally obligated to not emotionally destroy me thank you very much :D

my thoughts on TBB season 2 episodes 7-8
and why it’ll probably be a long time before I’m able to rewatch these episodes again 💀
this is gonna be long and probably not very coherent, but I’m gonna do my best cause I need to get my feelings out 😅
I wanna start by saying I think these were some of the best episodes not just in TBB, but in SW media overall. the issue of Clones rights is something that we’ve been desperate to see addressed ever since TCW. we got hints of it in TCW, but it was never a prevalent issue since the series focused so much on the Jedi. Umbara was the first major instance we got of this, after a few smaller hints (Rex with Cut and the Separatist attack on Kamino were standouts for sure). but this was the first time we saw real, true focus on the rights of the Clones, especially in relation to their significance outside of war. it was done perfectly imo, even though it ended up being what kicked off the official start of the Stormtrooper era 💔
I told this to @jam-n-ham and she agreed with me, but Riyo spoke not just for her own beliefs, but for the entire fandom as well, and I really appreciate that 💙
another thing I absolutely loved was seeing TBB work with Rex again. them sneaking into Rampart’s ship and that whole endeavor was very reminiscent of their TCW arc with the refined chaos we know and love about them; it’s easily one of my favorite moments of the entire series now 😁
speaking of Rampart... DING DONG THE BINCH IS GONE. OMG. I legit thought he was gonna be more of a problem throughout the series (and he probably still will be 🙄), but for now at least, he’s finally outta here. hallelujah \o/
one more thing I have to mention is Omega. oh my sweet baby girl. this episode was such a good showcase of her character. it showed her sweetness and curiosity, while also giving her a chance to express her feelings about what happened on Kamino. her little rant was everything, and I’m so proud of her; she’s becoming a very expressive and strong young woman that I wish I had gotten to see more of when I was younger 💙
alright. now time for the feels™
I want to state that this is something extremely personal to me, so I’m going to speak mainly from the heart in regard to this. it’s really hard for me to make a more thoughtful judgment about it, especially since the season isn’t over yet, and we don’t know how things are going to play out fully. all I know right now is how I feel. so here we go.
I’m personally absolutely devastated about Echo leaving.
I know, I know, pretty much everyone can relate to this right now. but let me explain.
I struggle greatly with loss. of any kind, really. mostly in terms of relationships and people. throughout my life, I’ve struggled to maintain relationships with people and have had many people permanently leave my life, either by choice or circumstance. I can’t handle death very well, and I rarely can bring myself to even say goodbye to people. the very idea of someone leaving, even temporarily, is hard for me to handle.
this is further worsened because I also get extremely attached to things. this includes physical objects, people, animals, fictional characters, franchises in general, you name it. my specific brand of undiagnosed neurodiversity means that I get extra emotional when anything happens to something I’m attached to. @jam-n-ham can vouch for how excited and emotional I get when we’re watching something together. I don’t cry irl very often, but I get extremely emotional watching media of any kind.
so imagine my reactions to when a fictional character either dies or leaves in some manner. yeah...
when Fives died, it devasted me in a way that I’ve never fully recovered from. it legit traumatized me. to this day, I literally cannot even look at screencaps or gifs of when he died. it’s only been recently that I’ve even been able to acknowledge anything from that arc in general. I feel similarly about when Kanan died in Rebels as well (although that one is a bit easier for me to stomach because of how it was done).
and for me, characters leaving, even if it’s on good terms, affects me in an almost identical way. to me, Echo leaving TBB is no different than when he “died” in the Citadel arc, another moment that traumatized me. it doesn’t matter that he said he’ll be back or whatever. he’s still gone in my eyes.
I’ve been very attached to Echo since we first saw him. I actually liked him more than Fives for a while. I was ecstatic when we found out he was still alive and got rescued in TCW. and he’s been an absolute joy to watch in TBB. although he’s @jam-n-ham’s bae, he’s my boy and my bro and I love him very much. there’s a reason I made him my best friend in my self-insert series 🥰
I really wish I could explain this better since there are many instances of characters leaving or dying that hasn’t affected me so badly (again, I handled Kanan WAY better than Fives, and I literally can’t count the number of times I’ve watched the Umbara arc). I’m in a sensitive place in my life in general right now, so that might have something to do with it. but I feel like I would have these same feelings no matter what simply because of my trauma and my specific attachment to Echo as a character.
I do want to say though that I’m glad him leaving was presented the way that it was. I actually already knew he was going to leave at some point WEEKS ago due to spoilers, and I spoiled myself again before seeing the episodes, so I knew it was coming. it didn’t make it hurt any less, but the fact that he left on good terms with everybody is nice to know at least. Omega had a strong emotional reaction, which was understandable and realistic, and I appreciate that as well (considering I had a similar reaction 😅). also, I support what he’s doing and am glad that he feels like he’ll make a difference with Rex supporting other Clones in need. he’s a good boy, guys 🥺💙
so yeah. although I’m positive we’ll see him again (along with the likely possibility of him rejoining TBB at some point), it’s still incredibly painful that he’s gone and separated from the others. I feel like this will be addressed with Omega in the show, since she seems to be going through similar feelings. and if not... well, I still have my self-insert series that I can use to address it LOL
tl;dr because of my trauma dealing with loss and my strong attachment to Echo as a character, I won’t be rewatching episodes 7-8 for some time. I’ll be reassessing my feelings again once the season is over, but for now, this is where I stand.
ilu Echo. I hope I see you again soon 💙💙💙

4 and 9 for the fanfic ask!!
Thanks for the ask!!!
4. what is the plot bunny you’ve been carrying for the longest? optional bonus question: do you ever wonder why you haven’t written it yet and experience deep existential dread?
AAAAAAAHHHHHHH THERE ARE A FEW. there’s at least two I have from back when I exclusively wrote in my notes app 🫠 Echo and Rex. My darlings. My lovely boys. They occupy my every waking thought and I am still rolling around an Echo and Rex bonding fic. I’ve written ideas as time goes on but haven’t completely gotten it written. But it’ll get there. Because I can’t stop thinking about it. Always there. Constantly. ALSO. I really want to write an Echo and Crosshair focused fic (shocked, surprised) about them right at the beginning of Echo joining the batch. Some missions. Bonding. A lot of ridiculousness. That idea plagues me at night. I get random ideas for it in the middle of the night and HAVE BEEN for about two years now 😅😅😅 I’m stubborn so I’m gonna write it. I’ll do it. I’m going to do it.
I do absolutely wonder why I’ve never written it and it does in fact cause me existential dread. The wonderful lovely ideas that go to die in my docs bc I lose interest half way through and for WHAT!?!? If you only knew the amount of ideas sitting half thought out in a document that I desperately want to write but just. Can’t. Part of it is because of the long fics I’ve been writing recently. The planning for them has been… a lot. And I’m enjoying it! I really am! It just takes a lot of my emotional and mental energy.
Other thing that you didn’t ask for but I’m saying anyway is that I found a way to start to combat this issue and I am going to share it. I got a project management software website thingy (it’s free and it’s called Trello) and I literally plan all of my writing schedule there. All of it. It has due dates. It’s color coded. I have flags for things that need editing. All of my writing goals for the year are in there. All of my ideas are there too so I have something to pick from when I want to write something new. I write one brand new idea a month. I write two chapters of my long fic a month. And I’ve been succeeding!! It’s only been three months but it’s helping with this process. Those ^ ideas are scheduled. Maybe I’ll actually write them 😅😅😅😅😅
9. in an ideal world where you’re already super successful and published, would you want to see a tv or movie adaptation of your work? why or why not?
Oooooooh I LOVE this one. Not sure if anyone else would feel the same way but I’d have to say no! Honestly! I have SEVERAL reasons. I’ve thought about this a lot.
One is that I am just. So heavily reliant on the ✨vibes✨ I want something to have and sometimes it’s all down to the thoughts my narrator is having or the physical cues and it really builds a scene out for me. I like to get my point across and sometimes when seeing adaptations to film or tv it just… doesn’t work. I’d want my audience to be able to imagine characters and even imagine themselves in that character’s place and sometimes you lose that with screen adaptations. I honestly think that the newest Percy Jackson tv show was excellent at bringing the characters to life from the books I loved so dearly from childhood. They picked perfect actors for the characters and I personally liked changes that they made while the movie from years ago just wasn’t quite what I wanted after loving the books.
I don’t want that disappointment.
I’d honestly be more interested in seeing the fandom create. I might be biased because I write fic but I’d much rather see art and read fics than adapt anything I do into a movie or tv show.

I HAVE NEVER WANTED TO SUCK A DICK SO BAD I STG 😩😩😩😩
Anyways regular thoughts for "Advise," "Dependents," and "Vigilance" first:
Rex really thought he lost everything until he was reunited with Echo. Losing his brothers to death and the Empire (with no choice in the matter) is death by a thousand, million cuts, over and over until there only blood, bone, and the guilt of survival left. And the writing for Rex???? I am in SHAMBLES
He muttered, lifting his misty eyes from behind his hands and staring at me like I was a thousand clicks away. “I know. I’m just…I thought maybe having something so whole and so happy with you would fix this…M-make me feel just a little less fucking empty.
Rex wasn’t just a survivor of the clone wars. Rex was a living, breathing example of a man’s greater purpose. To live for oneself. Together, we were a beacon of hope, a lightbulb igniting in the minds of men who spent their entire lives fighting in a dark tunnel with no end. It was like our arrival at their darkest hour gave them permission to expect a new day to dawn for them sooner than they thought.
SAY IT AGAIN
These men deserved the life they fought for.
The little tribute to Fives had me 🥲 Mari bb you're the best of us
Now because I am nosy and of course read the Captain's Log spoilers and know that they do have a baby I am content but otherwise GIVE THAT MAN A BABY OR I WILL DO IT FOR HIM. Also I think kids are just drawn to him.
Omega my sweet child you're so important, the Batch needs you as much if not more than you need them. The way CL describes each Batcher's relationship to Omega is 🤌🤌🤌
And Echo my beautiful sweet Echo
Echo was always there for everyone. He was the call that answered back whenever you cried out in need. That was why his name fit him. Not because he endlessly repeated orders as a cadet, but because there was no cry for help that he’d ever leave unanswered. No one would ever go through something alone when they had their Echo around.
NOW for those good 🌶️ THOTS 🌶️
That spice in "Dependents" really gave me a whole new appreciation for that put-a-baby-in-me sex (and you just KNOW Boba would be down for some of that disGUSTENG breeding kink sex, he wouldn't be able to shut up about how full he's gonna fill you up, how he's gonna fuck you so good and deep that it's going to take)
Tumblr media
Like Rex sir, PLEASE-
“Mesh’la…took it all. So well for me. That’s my strong girl. So fucking proud of you. Can you show me how pretty that pussy looks all filled up?” He whispered, easing himself out of my cunt.
That scene of Rex and Mari fucking while the BB boys are "sleeping"????? Holy fuCKNING SHIPTTYSDP that is the one of the single hottest things I'VE EVER FUCKING READ I can't even decide what was better, the BJ or the fuckening?? 🥵😩🫠🥴😮‍💨
"That’s it. My name. That’s all I’ll allow you to say. All I want them to hear spilling out of that filthy mouth, cyar’ika.”
"Could never want anyone else but you. This pretty cock…has ruined me for anyone else."
“S-show me,” he hissed through gritted teeth, “show me how it ruins you.”
Part of me wanted those boys to hear this. Wanted them to watch their superior take me the way only he could, the way he deserved. To allow him to flex why he was in charge and they weren’t. As much as he got off on claiming me, I got off on him pulling rank and taking charge of everyone around him, including myself.
“Good girl. Only my name comes out of that perfect fucking mouth. Stuffed full of my cock. You love it, don’t you? You love blowing me so messy…drooling on my cock. My perfect filthy girl.”
And for the nail two nails in my horny coffin:
“Seems like you wanted to remind everyone I’m in charge, needy girl. You want me to show them who owns this little pussy?”
“That’s my filthy girl. Begging me to make you scream.” He leaned forward and captured my lips with his, his tongue overpowering mine and teeth pulling down on my bottom lip. “Go ahead. Let them listen to how good my cock makes you feel.” He whispered, his lips brushing mine with every word.

The whole planet was dappled in golden light from this system’s sun and reflected off every slowly rusting piece of metal discarded here. The sunsets would probably be considered beautiful and a destination for tourists if not for the overcast smog and all the heaping mounds of space junk, both former Republic and Separatist.
On Bracca, scrapping was really the only way to make a living. Their Guild controlled everything on this planet, if memory served me correctly. We certainly were not interested in getting involved with them or getting caught using impounded ships as operating rooms for chip removal more than we had to. But this was the best plan Rex and I could come up with. No one here was looking for deserter clones, which gave us all the advantage.
We’d landed our ship around the outside of an abandoned and defunct starcruiser and met the Bad Batch crew in the Marauder a few clicks East. Taking two separate ships was risky, but Rex wasn’t planning on including them on the rest of our missions. If they wanted to help, he wouldn’t stop them, but we couldn’t risk anything happening to Omega. Taking care of her first was their duty now.
The seven of us trudged through the junkyard surface, looking for a ship in good enough shape to enter safely and praying a medical station was still intact on board. Rex scouted ahead, preferring to lead his men from the front like always. Hunter watched our backs from the rear, his acute senses keeping an endless watch on our surroundings. That left me, Echo, Tech, Wrecker and Omega to walk and keep ourselves occupied between them.
We all took turns carrying Omega when her little feet got tired. Hell I wished someone could pick up and carry me too. I walked beside Echo, filling him in on all he missed between Rex and I and especially the events of the last week or so. I didn’t tell him about Ahsoka. The fewer people that knew she lived, the safer she’d be.
Omega clung to Echo’s shoulders, opting for a piggyback ride from her brother. She and Echo seemed close, their relationship showing the sensitive, nurturing side of him that I always knew was there. The side that I always remembered jumping out to help when Jesse drank too much. That offered his hand when I’d stumbled drunk out into the open air to walk home from a night at 79s. That was the shoulder to cry on in private when unsuccessful missions got to be too much for Fives’ to cope with alone.
Echo was always there for everyone. He was the call that answered back whenever you cried out in need. That was why his name fit him. Not because he endlessly repeated orders as a cadet, but because there was no cry for help that he’d ever leave unanswered. No one would ever go through something alone when they had their Echo around.
Omega picked up on that right away. The more I watched them interact, the more I realized how comforting she found him. Sure, Hunter seemed to be her favorite. An almost Fatherly figure to her. Teaching her strength and leadership, but also scolding her when she needed to learn a lesson.
Echo was Hunter’s perfect compliment. He encouraged her where Hunter protected. He fostered her interests and paid endless attention to her everyday needs while Hunter worried about keeping her safe. To say I was proud of how he cared for her was an understatement. It seemed like destiny that he was here to help raise this special little girl.
Wrecker was more like her best friend or her true sibling than a parent. He was a big kid himself, after all, enjoying everything with childlike wonder and boundless energy. The two played together, teased each other, joked and laughed. I was glad she had someone with the emotional intelligence to realize how important it was entertain her, to let her be a kid and take her mind off the fact that they were all running for their lives.
Tech seemed the least prepared to deal with a child. No amount of information he researched could prepare him for the actual act of parenting. That didn’t stop him from trying though. He did his best to prepare. Taking little notes of things she told him about and writing down little details about her like tracking her height, foods she didn’t like, any bumps and scrapes she got so he could make sure they got better. He documented every little piece of information he could about her and taught her things through knowledge and data. The same way he taught himself.
But Omega, of course, had never been around another human woman in all her life. She was fascinated by me, sticking close to me as much as she could and asking me a zillion and one questions about myself. Which of course I answered. She was very curious and very smart, those brown eyes reminding me so much of all her brothers, but especially of the one I loved. Blonde hair and brown eyes, just like my Rex.
“So what’s a junior senator? What do you do?” She questioned, resting her head on Echo’s shoulder.
“Write lots of reports and do research about what’s going on on the planet I serve. Tech would’ve loved it probably.” I joked, earning a snort from Tech.
“Oh yes, I’m sure the Republic would’ve loved to hear a clone’s political ideas.” He rolled his eyes and shook his head at me.
“I would. I planned on working to bring a vote for clone’s rights to the open senate before…everything…” I sighed, shooting a surprised glance at Echo, shocked that he hadn’t filled them in on my fierce activism yet.
“Really? But you’re a nat born, why should you care what happens to us?” Tech questioned, making both Wrecker and Hunter stop in their tracks to listen to my response.
“Because it’s the right thing to do. You’re living beings. You are owed the right to ya know…live.” I stated plainly, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Echo smiled and looked up at Omega who was grinning with admiration at my words.
“See why we liked her so much, kid?” He patted her hand with his own.
“You were going to openly argue for us in front of the entire Republic?” Hunter asked, speaking for the first time in a while. Disbelief setting into a mind slightly more suspicious than most clones, even his batch mates.
Rex turned over his shoulder and winked at me, quietly encouraging me to show off the power of the freedom fighter within that he loved so much.
“You’ve never seen me argue. You think Rex is a fighter? You should see me in action. Would fight for you all until the very end.” I smiled proudly, not sure if they realized just how much I cared about all of them. Not just because I loved their brother. The Republic couldn’t create an army of human beings fighting for the rights and freedoms of millions of people on hundreds of worlds without guaranteeing those same rights extended to the clones too. It would be hypocritical to say anything otherwise. No one was free unless they all were too.
Hunter shook his head, a small smile creeping across his tattooed face. He seemed actually impressed this time. “Between you and Echo here, Rex sure knows how to pick some good ones, doesn’t he?” He motioned us all to keep moving, patting Echo on the back and lifting Omega onto his own shoulders now.
“Wrecker? How are you feeling?” I asked, watching him walk forward a lot quieter than he’d been the last few hours.
He grumbled, “Could be better. My head hurts.” He massaged his temple, trying to coax the pounding headache to subside at least temporarily. I glanced over his face, searching for any other signs of discomfort. Pupils dilating, facial twitches…anything else Rex described feeling before his memory went dark.
“No…anger or anything? Just the headache?” I asked again, placing a gentle, reassuring hand on his massive bicep and pleading with him to give me an honest answer.
“N-no ma’am. No..uhm…N-Nothing else to report.” Wrecker stammered, his cybernetic eye and his brown eye working in tandem to study my face up close. I was making him nervous and I don’t think it was because of the chip.
“Good. You keep letting me know how you’re feeling. We’re going to take care of this.” I affirmed, pulling my hand away, realizing it was my touch that was making him nervous.
“Rex? Are…are we there yet?” Omega asked quietly from over my shoulder, her nimble hands retying the bandana around Hunter’s head.
Rex stopped, scanning the terrain in front of us and pointing to a still smoking starship in front of us. He looked determined, powerful, and stars- so handsome. I walked up behind him, taking his hand and leaning into his side. He hummed softly, “that’s the one. Just up ahead. Seems like it was just brought here. We’ve got a good chance of finding a medical wing that’s still working.” I smiled up at him hopefully, signaling a beaming pride that had grown from watching him in action like this.
“Let’s head over then. Tech, you know how to do this type of operation right?” Hunter questioned his brother, glaring at him as if to demand he lie just to set Wrecker’s worried mind at ease.
“Yes, Sir. Studied up on it the whole way here. Between the diagrams I saw and Rex’s experience, we’ll get things right, Wrecker. Don’t worry.” Tech said, awkwardly patting his far taller brother’s shoulder. The boys all let out a collective sigh at once, grateful that we finally seemed to have found the right place.
Rex turned away from our destination in front of us to look me up and down, scanning me for any signs of weariness. The worry in his face quickly softened to familiar admiration, leaning forward to press a kiss to the top of my head. “How they holding up you think?” He asked me, as if the well-being of his men wasn’t something he excelled at gauging.
“They’re resilient. Especially Omega. She’s a fast learner, intelligent, empathetic…sweet. Reminds me of you.” I muttered, bumping his shoulder with mine playfully. “Though something tells me you never asked that many questions as a cadet.”
“No, I was more the watch and learn type. Cody was the one always asking questions. He was way more talkative than me.” Rex laughed, shaking his head and sighing. “I hope he’s alright.”
“We can check in on him too when we head back to that Cantina.” I offered, remembering I hadn’t gotten the chance to do all the research Rex and I talked about. It all sort of went out the window when he heard Echo’s voice walk into the bar.
“You think the boys know anything?” Rex wondered aloud, as if to ask me how much we’d actually talked about. I glanced behind us at all of them fumbling around in their pockets, looking for a spare ration stick or two to give Omega.
It was funny how, despite all the cloners did to make them human war machines, they could not program away or genetically alter natural instinct. These men all cared very deeply for their family units and possessed the most innate need to parent in one way or another. It was said that came from the original donor himself.
The illusive Mandalorian model had specifically asked for one unaltered clone he could raise as a son. The need to nurture someone, to foster growth and provide for was an inherent genetic trait that was unexpectedly passed down in all his clones too.
I saw it in Cut, abandoning the war entirely to choose to raise the children of the woman he loved. I saw it now in how each member of clone force 99 stepped in to provide something helpful to Omega’s development. And I saw it in Rex, looking out for every single one of his men, ensuring they grew strong and protecting them even at his own risk. They were all highly skilled warriors, probably the best in the universe, but they were just as human as I was. It didn’t matter how they were made.
“I think they’ve had a more important priority, my love.” I smiled at Omega whose acute senses were able to pick up on me gazing at her. She was as observant as Hunter.
“Forgive me for asking but…how did you meet Rex?” She asked, pointing to my hand affectionately joined with his. Rex blushed and ran his hand along the back of his neck nervously. The story was more embarrassing to him than he was probably willing to admit to men who revered him.
The hint of freckles on his nose were darkening from exposure to this planet’s harsh sunlight and it made his skin flush from the heat. He looked hot, sweaty and most of all tired, but the determination in his eyes reminded me of that first day I met him. He was working hard and pretty stressed then too, but he wore it very well.
“Let’s just say we…ran into each other at a senate gala once.” I laughed, leaving out the part where he dumped expensive champagne down a dress he later ruined even further by spilling something else on me.
Echo giggled, “Oh yes. Ran into each other.” He raised his brows at us suggestively and motioned for Hunter to cover Omega’s ears. “You totally didn’t make a complete mess inside a supply closet that Fives and I had to put back together for you.”
Rex opened his mouth to say something in his defense, but I quieted him by turning his face toward mine and crashing my lips into his. He brought his massive hand up to both block their view and hold my face. Wrecker rushed to slide a hand over Omega’s eyes, but she ducked underneath and watched with admiration in those starry eyes.
I broke the kiss, blinking up at him in satisfaction and watching the distinguished Captain’s usually rigid formality falter. He softened, shoulders sagging, cheeks flushing and coughed awkwardly at such rampant public display of affection.
“We are forever grateful that you covered for us both, Echo. Stars where would we both be without you?” I teased, curling my hand into Rex’s again and looking at the stunned faces of the men who only ever saw him while in command. Never like this. Rex smiled at me in agreement, shaking his head at my unending boldness and walked us both down to where the rest of them stood.
“Well I think it’s wonderful. Nala Se always said clones weren’t meant to love. Just to fight for the Republic at any cost. But…clearly that isn’t true.” She pointed up at the two of us and turned to Rex. “How…how did you know?” Omega asked, fiddling with her sleeve awkwardly.
Rex looked up at me with the same starry-eyed amazement that Omega did not thirty seconds before this. He knelt down to her level and patted the top of her head. His face softened, “You just know, kid. You look at someone for the first time, you feel it and you know.” He explained, his gaze fixed on me beside him. “That’s part of why what we’re doing is so important. I want you to live to experience moments like this. We can be more than just soldiers.”
“You really believe that Cap?” Hunter finally asked, after silently watching Omega interact with a couple for probably the first time.
Rex let out a deep sigh and stood up, tightening his fist by his side and raising his chin. His shoulders squared and he stood at attention, almost as if expecting a salute, in order to capture the attention of everyone standing in front of him when he spoke next.
“I do. With all my heart, Sergeant. There’s more out there for us than just fighting and dying. And I think you already have a little someone to show you that.” He chuckled, lifting a hand to pat Hunter on the shoulder. He looked stunned, as if someone had just walked up to him and handed him some kind of almighty victory.
Maybe in a way, Rex was validating some kind of dream that deep down every clone had. Of a life outside of battle. Away from pain and loss. Separate from their prearranged commitment to the cause. Detached from the dehumanizing treatment that was only getting worse under the new regime.
We all stood together in silence, basking in the harsh glow of the sun setting on Bracca. The uncertainty of war and the future for its soldiers coming to a bittersweet but needed close at days end. Omega grabbed my hand and pulled us all close, huddling us together to wait for the sun to dip below the horizon. To end their final day as soldiers and look forward to a tomorrow where they could just be people. Men with no orders to follow and no more brothers to lose.
“So beautiful, isn’t it?” Wrecker commented, sighing out as he bear hugged all of us in his impossibly large arms. Everyone hummed some kind of agreement, except Rex. His eyes weren’t glued to the sunset like all his younger siblings. His were fixed on me.
I rested my head on his armored chest and watched the waning sunlight lick his features. Rich warm eyes seemed to hold the sun’s rays captive in their amber irises. The darkening freckled dots on his nose mapped out all the scattered stars in the galaxy. The stubble on his jaw made him look more handsome by the day, dark features with blonde hair was a good look on a clone. Though few had the rampant boldness to pull it off like he did. Rosy brown lips parted like they were parched for more than just water and I drank in the desire pouring off his body.
“Yeah, as beautiful as always.” Rex replied, gazing at me like I was the only thing he saw. I reached a hand up to caress his blonde hair at the back of his neck, now long enough to begin curling slightly. His expression darkened, the realization that we had to keep moving dawning on him again. He shrugged, as if to silently apologize that this moment couldn’t last longer and searching for reassurance.
He was on a mission like the hundreds he’d done before. With me by his side, all he needed was my constant support to keep us going. I nodded understandably and turned back into the light, knowing we had a duty to fulfill. “Let’s keep moving.”
Venturing inside the old Jedi cruiser was easily the most dangerous thing I’d ever done. Even with all the running and hiding Rex and I had done the last few weeks. The whole place was covered in rust and littered with creatures who survived off of scavenging inside the dilapidated crafts. Which was ironic because that’s exactly what we were doing. Scavenging for medical supplies.
The metal halls were practically falling down on top of us and we had to take extra care with every step. Omega and I stuck close to each other since neither of us had much experience scouting or doing any kind of in field action. The boys flanked us on either side. The old med bay was just at the end of the hall and I breathed a sigh of relief.
“All the times you called me from a cruiser I never thought I’d end up on one like this.” I scoffed, leaning in the doorway that Hunter and Rex had just opened.
“Me neither.” Omega said, shuddering as a large bug of some kind scampered across the floor. “Is this going to work?” She asked, tugging on Hunter’s hand and curling around his hip. “I’m…scared. Just because it worked for Rex doesn’t mean it will this time.” Her skepticism showed wisdom far beyond others her age. Mostly, she just seemed very worried about Wrecker, who sat down on the operating table with his head in his hands.
“We’ve gotta try, Omega. I trust Rex. We all do.” Hunter assured her, patting the top of her head and glaring nervously up at where Rex and I stood. They were blindly putting their faith in their older brother’s hands. He would never steer them wrong and even though this was exceedingly dangerous, it was life or death. Rex wouldn’t recommend it if it wasn’t absolutely essential.
Little Omega was even more unsure than Hunter, her eyes flitting back and forth between Wrecker sitting in increasing discomfort and the old medical equipment that Echo had managed to ramp up.
“And it’s not going to hurt him?” She asked tentatively, pulling at Rex’s hand to get his attention.
“Well…I uh- I don’t really remember. I’ve never been on this side of it.” Rex said sheepishly, shrugging at the obvious lack of assurance that provided. He glared at me, pleading with me to step in and comfort a kid I barely knew about something I had no knowledge of. The worry on her face made her look slightly older than she was, her smaller brows creasing together to form a tiny scowl and chewing on her bottom lip anxiously.
“Omega, the sooner they all remove these, the better. You can eat that snack you all like and hopefully find somewhere safe. Maybe you’ll get your own bunk or your own armor. I’m sure Tech can fashion you something.” I smiled, tucking a stray hair behind her ear and watching her tiny shoulders ease just slightly at my words.
“Who’s to say I haven’t already started on some of those things…” Tech remarked, prying around inside his pack for the right tools to scan Wrecker’s head for the chips location. The crown like device communicated to one of Tech’s datapads and beeped perceptively as it explored his brain for the chip.
“I think I found something…” He declared, tapping on the holopad and following prompts on screen.
“I can’t believe it…” Hunter remarked, eyes flicking between the pad and Wrecker groaning in pain. Rex unconsciously shifted closer to me, his hand grabbing my hip instinctively. Omega’s little frame was starting to shake a little, so overcome with nerves that she couldn’t stand alone like this. I placed my hand on her shoulder and she turned to look at Rex and I beside her. She drew in a shaky breath before pulling herself into my side, flanked by Rex’s armored thigh.
“I can’t watch.” She muttered, burying her face in the side of my jacket. Hunter sighed, immediate concern breaking his concentrated brow. His eyes met mine, as if to ask if it was okay and I nodded reassuringly. My instinct to comfort and protect her taking over me like it seemed to take over anyone else she got close to.
“Stick with her, okay kid? We’ll get this over with in no time. I promise.” Hunter said, rubbing her arm before turning back toward Echo and Tech discussing how to proceed. Wrecker groaned louder, removing Tech’s equipment and shoving him away as the operating medical tube whirred to life behind him. He winced in pain and gripped the side of his head tighter, making Rex uneasy enough to ball his fingers into a fist.
“Echo…we need to speed this up. Get this going. I don’t think we’ve got much time.” He warned, stepping toward Hunter and explaining what little he and I did know about how the chips affected other clones.
As far as we knew, very few clones could resist the order. The only thing he and I vaguely heard about was one Commander who fought alone against his own men for turning on his Jedi General. The report we overhead at the Cantina was brief and of course didn’t include names or battalion numbers. Just that he was imprisoned and made into an example of what the Empire did to any traitors. Clone or otherwise. I hoped it was Fox, but the way he acted the last time I saw him at the Senate building made me doubt that hope.
Rex probably hoped it was Cody, though that would mean that the General that was killed was Kenobi, which made him equally as sick as if that General had been his own. Fighting against the chip was so rare, so genetically improbable, that it might as well be impossible. All the more reason to get the cursed thing out of Wrecker as fast as possible. Or who knows what consequences we’d face.
Wrecker had gotten suspiciously quiet, save for the groans of painful agony he was letting out every few seconds. To the point that I, who barely even knew him, had noticed the absence of his normally extroverted and explosive personality. He wasn’t acting like himself at all and Omega looked up at me anxiously, no doubt sensing the change too.
Rex and Hunter were muttering things to each other quietly, too entrenched in serious conversation to notice and Echo was busy plugged into the operating table. Tech pulled out some kind of anesthesia in a tiny syringe and held it up to Wrecker.
Suddenly, Wrecker’s hand slid off his forehead and shot out at Tech’s arm, holding the stem back from coming any closer. He bowed his head, slumping slightly as his eyes blinked closed, reopening again with dilated pupils. His jaw tensed and he let out a deep, menacing growl so loud it made all the blood in my body freeze. His other hand lurched forward and seized Tech by the throat, lifting him off the floor. Then the robotic, lifeless words fell out of his mouth and my heart stopped.
“You’re in direct violation of Order 66.”
Before I could even realize what was happening, Tech went flying across the room, slamming into the wall like a lifeless doll and Wrecker yelled at the top of his lungs. Rex’s body flew over mine faster than I’d ever seen him. His armored chest covered where I stood clutching onto Omega for dear life. His arm wrapped around my side, his left hand drawing his blaster pistol. Wrecker howled, throwing pieces of the old med bay across the room and nearly crushing the medical bay’s operating controls.
“You’re all traitors!”
Echo disconnected from the operating table and hurled himself across the room, slamming into my exposed side. “He’s gonna destroy the equipment. You gotta get him out of here!!” Echo yelled, drawing his own weapon and firing stun blasts off the reflective walls in an attempt to at least disorient the large clone.
Hunter leapt into action, hurling a canister against his brother’s broad back. He was met with a strength of resistance he could never match in a million years and crashed to the floor. The now busted canister hissed air from the open cracks and Omega yelled in fear after Hunter.
I pulled her into me, cradling her to my chest. I drew my own blaster from my jacket pocket and set it to stun. “Let go!! I have to help him !!” She screamed, as Hunter wrestled and struggled to try to subdue Wrecker. Tech had crawled across the floor and reached us, whipping out two blaster pistols and held Omega’s arm.
Rex’s looked at me with a cold severity in his eyes that I’d never seen before. He grabbed my forearm and motioned to Omega and Tech. “Stay here. Protect them like I know you can.” I gripped Rex’s forearm, making a silent agreement with him and tucking my blaster to my chest.
“Go.” I confirmed, gripping Omega tightly and ducking down behind a makeshift barrier of boxes and metal wall shrapnel.
“We’ll draw his fire. Omega, stay with Tech.” Hunter yelled, nodding at Rex and Echo as they moved with a perfect soldier’s precision back out into the empty hallway.
Wrecker grabbed his helmet and threw it on, following them hastily. They disappeared down the hall and I let out a breath I didn’t realize I’d been holding.
“Are you both alright?” Tech asked urgently, giving us the once over before grabbing at an exposed and bleeding wound in his own arm.
“Wrecker nearly knocked your lights out and you’re asking us if we’re okay?” I retorted, watching blue stun blasts light up the hallway just outside our door. Old ammunitions canisters flew back and forth, crashing and hissing out trapped air as they battled each other.
A strange calmness had fallen over Omega, who had crawled forward and grabbed a blaster from the floor. Her clone battle instincts were kicking in. Cool in a crisis, mind racing with plans of action, jumping forward to help out instead of waiting for situations to resolve themselves. If there was any doubt that she came from the same genes as the boys all did, there certainly wasn’t anymore. She was a Jango Fett clone through and through.
“They’re going to get fucking killed out there.” I yelled at Tech, leaping forward after Omega as she slipped out into the hallway unnoticed. “Stay here and protect the med bay. I’m going out after Omega.” I declared, Tech offering no argument as I passed through the blast doorway and into the hall.
Omega stood face to face with a towering Wrecker. She was a quarter his size but probably double his confidence as she held her ground, weapon bared up toward him.
Wrecker held Hunter against the wall by his throat, his large fist more than capable of snapping his Sergeant’s neck without much effort.
“Anyone found in violation of Order 66 will be terminated.” Wrecker bellowed, the threat filling the empty hallway. His fingers started to slowly tighten and Hunter’s eyes went wide.
BANG.
Omega fired. Her shot met the wall beside the two, dissipating into nothing. Wrecker straightened up, letting his brother slip from his grasp and spun around toward his little sister and best friend.
She held the blaster up again, threatening him with another stun blast before thinking better of it and turning tail down the other end of the hallway. Wrecker’s large strides bounded after her, my own frantic footsteps not far behind. I could hear Hunter sputtering and choking, trying to return air into his lungs. I didn’t see any sign of Rex or Echo.
A disgusting, sickening pang of fear stabbed my gut at the thought of losing either of them like this. I choked it down to deal with later as I focused on chasing after Omega. She had dashed down the hallway, sliding underneath a slightly ajar blast door. But between her and I stood Wrecker. Massive and unhinged and raging in anger.
This wasn’t him. He was kind. He was gentle and carefree. He cared so deeply about how the people around him felt. He would never. Never. Willingly do this. It was the chip. Reading about it or listening to Rex explain it was nothing compared to watching it tear the humanity from the man we all knew.
He was nothing more than an organic weapon, controlled like a mindless droid. There was no warmth in his eyes, no quirks that were particularly unique to Wrecker, no free thought or resistance. It was dehumanizing, twisted and horrible. I’d never been more unnerved by the treatment of another human being in all my life. Nothing made me more sure of my commitments to our mission, to Rex, to helping the clones than watching him suffer as the chip took over his mind.
He was too big to slip past and he’d already beaten me to her. I hope she knows how to hide. He lifted the blast door completely, stalking into the room as quietly as a nearly 7-foot-tall clone could. The metal junk littering the floor made walking hard but provided excellent cover for someone as small as Omega or myself. I made a mad dash for the door, ducking behind a fallen wall panel and peering into the room.
Wrecker was searching every obvious hiding spot in the room. Wherever she was, she had done a good enough job of evading him so far. It took all my will power to quiet my breaths and make my hands stop shaking. I couldn’t let him hear me. I was her last line of defense. From this vantage point, I couldn’t stun him because I risked hitting Omega.
The scraping of metal ripped me from my thoughts as Omega’s screams rang out into the halls.
“This isn’t you! It’s the inhibitor chip!”
“Conspiring with traitors makes you a traitor.”
“Wrecker! I don’t want to hurt you!” The sound of guns exchanging hands and Omega’s small whines filled my ears. “But Wrecker…you’re my friend.”
“Good soldiers follow orders.” He whispered, the creepy sentiment stinging me the second I heard it. I thought only of Fives. Who gave everything to try and stop this. Who never followed orders he didn’t wholly support. Stars we needed him more than anything right about now. I couldn’t stand it anymore. I couldn’t let her shoot him or vice versa.
I moved to strike, only to find another back pressed against mine. I spun around, shoulder to shoulder with Rex, his head seemingly still ringing from being shot or stunned or thrown. He nodded at me, mouthing a countdown.

Rex and I dashed in, nearly arm in arm. His perfect shot finally landing directly on Wrecker. He slumped to the floor right in front of Omega and she went flying into the safety of Rex’s arms. She was sobbing, burying her face in his shoulder and blubbering out words. “That…was…so scary…” She cried. He closed his eyes and curled his hand around her neck comfortingly.
“It’s alright, ad’ika. You’re safe. He didn’t mean it. We’re going to help him.” Rex cooed, wrapping her legs around his waist and grabbing my hand with his. “Let’s go get the boys. We need to do this fast.” We set off down the hallway, finally ready to end this nightmare once and for all.
By the time we’d removed all their chips and left the ship it was close to midnight. The boys were all too tired to head back to the Marauder and our ship had a homing feature that allowed it to fly back to us on autopilot. Thankfully, the pirates who used to own it had added some extremely useful modifications.
We managed to find a sort of makeshift island, too small to land the garbage ships on and probably at some point used as a break spot for the Scrapper’s guild. Bracca was way calmer at night and delightful breezes blew across the once tropical landscape. The air was far less muggy and thick and we’d decided sleeping outside for the night might provide us all with the literal breath of fresh air we all needed. The Bad Batch left us Rex and I alone briefly to clean up a little, have something to eat and search through the inside of our ship for usable blankets.
Rex and I set up our cot and took time to hold each other close and appreciate the little step we’d taken toward accomplishing our greater goal. We’d saved five lives today. Five clones were finally free because Rex and I cared enough about them as individual human beings to give them the life together that they all deserved.
I gazed at him, completely lost in thought as he stared up at the night sky beside me. “Ya know…I used to think that hope was pretty and soft and caring and delicate. But now I know it’s not. It’s bruised, battered, bleeding…a little broken, but loyal, determined, fierce and resilient. Hope looks a lot like you. I think your brothers look at your face…your face…and I know they see it too.” I said, resting my head on his chest.
His gloved hand curled around mine and his eyes fell away, lips curling into a shy smile. “You saying I’m not pretty?” He joked, rolling his eyes playfully and bringing his other arm around to roll me on top of him.
“Rex.” I laughed, thumping his chest weakly and staring at him in moderate annoyance. “You know what I meant. I’m trying to have a moment here.”
“Did Padmé teach you how to give such good speeches or were you always so good at that?” He asked, stroking the side of my cheek with his thumb.
“She helped a little. But I mean it. You lived because you were supposed to. Force works in mysterious ways right? Your life means something, not just to me, but to all clones. You’re their hope.”
“And you’re mine.” He admitted, shifting to bring my face to his, resting his forehead on mine. “For whatever happens when we’re past all this. When we complete the mission. Thank you for helping me through this. For staying for me. For…for everything.”
“Love requires no thanks. It’s selfless. And unconditional.”
“Anakin used to say that. Thought it was just a Jedi thing.”
“I think you know it isn’t.”
“You really are an angel, you know that? You are all the starlight in my sky. Like Echo said, you always were my sun on Kamino. Always my reason to look up. No matter where I was, you were out there. And I was coming home to you. I’d battle death a thousand times to get back to life with you.”
I smiled down at him, tears in my eyes blurring my view of the most perfect man I could ever ask for. “I love you.” I whispered, in complete lovesick shock at my partner’s sudden ability to form sentences poetic enough to bring tears to my eyes. Before he could continue, sounds of the other boys approaching with blankets interrupted our conversation.
“We’ve got our things. Let’s settle in for the night. It’s been a long day.” Hunter declared, eyeing Rex and I intimately pressed together.
“Omega, you get the cot. I know you’re tired, Tech and I will set it up, ok?” Echo whispered, patting the head of the sleepy-eyed little thing who was just barely clinging on to consciousness after such a traumatizing day. They all got to work putting together a makeshift camp and before we knew it they were all huddled around a small fire.
Wrecker, exhausted and still healing from the roughest day he’s ever had, was relaxing with a little doll Omega had probably given him for comfort. They all seemed tired, scared and fatigued from being constantly on the run now. But at least now, they were safe from the inhibitor chip. All four of them were never going to be used against their will ever again. They finally truly answered to no one. And that gave Rex and I enough peace to allow ourselves to drift into a satisfying rest. I closed my eyes and listened, hoping to one by one hear them all fall asleep. Which wasn’t happening at all.
“She looks at him like he’s the greatest man the galaxy has ever seen. With those eyes. Fuck- what I wouldn’t give…for a pretty thing like her.” Hunter shook his head in amazement, the tiniest hint of a smile crossing his normally unreadable face.
“I mean…he sort of is. Isn’t he? Can’t say I’d blame her for choosing one of the most highly decorated, best genetic replications of the prime model.” Tech pointed out, lifting his goggles off his eyes and relaxing back into the hammock he’d set up.
“You’re all full of Bantha shit. It’s not because he’s decorated or good at fighting or anything like that. She likes him because he’s selfless, he listens, he’d do anything for the people he cares about.” Echo gestured to himself, very obviously pointing out that his mere presence among them proved that. “Women care about stuff like that.”
“I suppose you’re right. Those are nice qualities to have in a partner at least as far as the human psyche goes…” Tech inhaled like he was going to continue on an explanatory tangent when Wrecker groaning interrupted him.
“I think it’s because he knows when to shut up.” He shot back at his brother gruffly, “she is so pretty though. And tiny.”
“Only in size, not in personality, that I promise you.” Echo laughed, fondly remembering one of numerous times I’d successfully stood up to creatures three times my size without fear. “Sharp tongue too if you mess with her.”
“Don’t tell me anymore or I’ll fall in love with her.” Wrecker huffed, waving his large hands around trying to brush the idea of me from his mind. “Rex would really want to kick my ass then.”
The boys fell silent, all immediately regretting discussing this the second they heard Rex’s name. They respected us together enough to know better than to even think a dirty thought about me. The crackling of the fire was the only thing I could hear now, the planet’s ghost town feel looming over us even heavier at night. I thought they might’ve finally fallen asleep before someone sighed out.
“I bet it’s the blonde thing.” Hunter chuckled. They all agreed.
I’d been listening to them from our cot, my back turned to them as I pretended to sleep buried in Rex’s armored chest. He actually was asleep, finally feeling comforted surrounded by the sound of his brothers voices, knowing we were both safe.
I turned over in Rex’s arms, curling my fingers into his and feeling them unconsciously tighten to receive them as he slept. The lull of voices hushed quickly as they collectively held their breath, unsure of my state of consciousness. I started giggling softly, flicking my eyes open to glance around at all of them pretending they weren’t watching me. I decided it was as good a time as any to have a little fun like I used to with the 501st boys back home.
“Echo’s right. It’s his good heart…” I yawned, pressing my backside further into Rex curled behind me tightly. His hands were grabby and body possessive even as he slept, somehow always mindful enough to keep me close to him. The boys averted their gaze, pretending they didn’t feel a sense of hopeless longing and mild jealousy at the idea of cuddling into someone else’s warm body like this.
Intimate touches and vulnerability were not a shared experience amongst this group of brothers. They weren’t afforded that luxury and that was why they desired it more than anything else. Whether they could admit it or not. “…and ya know the mind-blowing sex.” I confessed, knowing exactly how to press the buttons of the touch starved men in front of me.
Instantly, it was like I’d reignited the smoldering fire in front of us. Wrecker protested the loudest, pulling his pillow over his eyes and shouting into it “maker, you can’t just say things like that.” Echo laughed out loud, shaking his head as the filth he expected from me finally came out.
“Yes, she can, if it’s the truth. Sexual discussion is healthy in relationships.” Tech pointed out, not entirely sure if it was to the group of us or to himself.
“Talk about highly decorated…that’s what he should be given a medal for.” I praised suggestively. “Do they enhance that part too?” I teased, shifting to rub up against Rex a little more. I wished he was up to hear this. It would be funny to watch his face go red at such graphic praise. He liked it, never one to shy away from bragging about himself when he deserved to. And he definitely had earned that right.
“Hey now…little ears…” Hunter scolded, motioning to a slumbering Omega, passed out in a deep sleep in the only cot the boys had. “You are something else.” He rolled his eyes, smirking as if he knew from experience how he’d deal with someone like me. “Rex certainly has his hands full.”
At that, Rex’s hand on my waist actually tightened, gripping me possessively and pulling me into him. “And I can still take down all four of you at once…if I have to.” He grumbled sleepily from behind me.
Echo laughed, “aaand there he is. Right on time. It’s even funnier than I remember.” He turned to rest his hand behind his head and sunk into his hammock. “Rex still playing with fire…At least some things in the galaxy are still ok.”
“Playing with fire, so that’s what we’re calling it now?” Tech said sarcastically, turning off his data pad and pulling his blankets up to his chin.
“That doesn’t even begin to describe it.” Rex shot back, as I practically felt his smirk buried into the crook of my neck. Normally, he would scold his men for getting this bold, but this time he was joining in knowing it would throw me off.
“Look who’s not so sleepy all of the sudden, Captain.” I teased, the tiredness lacing my words with a lazy, lust filled tone. It felt like all the air in the atmosphere was sucked out at once as his title spilling out of my mouth really awoke something in the rest of the boys. Must be a clone thing.
“Stars above…call me Captain too.” Wrecker blurted out, the banter wholly becoming too much for him.
Rex, immediately noticing far too many wandering eyes, pulled our blankets up over my face and rolled me on top of him. A dark grumble bubbled in his chest and he inhaled to keep his composure, “That title’s only for me. Isn’t that right cyar’ika?”
“Sir, yes, Sir.” I responded, still baiting him in front of everyone with a submissive tease that I knew was both driving him nuts and making him at least a little mad. He glared at me with just the right amount of black lust filtering into his gaze and I smiled back, half apologetically, mostly not.
“Go to sleep.” His voice scolding, but the heat between his thighs and his grip on my ass telling a far different story. I nodded and set my head down onto his chest, the rapid flutter of his adrenaline pumping heart setting me at ease. “That goes for all of you too.” Rex ordered, turning his head and scowling at them, a silent threat to brush the memory of this aside or at least to not let him see them think about this ever again.
“Goodnight boys.” I giggled as the bad batch guys all mumbled out an exhausted but affirmative goodnight, knowing Rex would kill them if they kept this line of conversation going. I traced my hand up Rex’s neck and turned his face toward mine. “Goodnight, my Captain.” I pressed a delicate kiss to his lips and any of the annoyance he felt at me pushing my luck earlier melted away.
He hummed, cocking an eyebrow at me and sliding his hand underneath both layers of clothing on my bottom half. A firm hand clenched a dominating grip on my right cheek, fondling it roughly. I looked up at him, his strong jaw ticking like he was plotting a punishment good enough for the stunt I pulled. Which was exactly what I hoped he’d do. I tipped my head, blinking an innocent curiosity back at him. As if I didn’t do this intentionally.
“Don’t think you’re off the hook for this yet, mesh’la. You’ll see. Goodnight, my little tease.”
“Keep quiet.” He whispered, hot breath fanning in my ear roused me from a sound sleep. My body was warm, head still in a fog from a dream filled with details I couldn’t remember. I could feel his arm underneath my side, armor clattering against my skin as he covered my mouth with his gloved hand. I blinked my eyes open, my vision beginning to focus on the dark stillness of the planet’s surroundings. It wasn’t morning yet. The sun wasn’t even close to rising.
“Rex why-“ I opened my mouth to speak to ask him why he woke me, only to be immediately cut off by the sliding of his gloved fingertips along my slit. I whimpered, tipping my head back onto his shoulder. I canted my hips forward into his hand, sending his touch brushing across my clit.
“There ya go…that shuts you right up. Feels good hmm?” He muttered, placing a featherlight kiss behind my ear. The fabric of his gloves provided delightful friction as he traced one finger teasingly over the bundle of nerves. It made a white-hot current of pleasure radiate out from my core. I nodded, the pace of my breathing speeding up as his fingers did. My eyes flicked around our surroundings remembering we were not alone out here.
“The Boys?” I reminded him, reaching a hand up to try pulling his arm away from where he was torturing me.
He chuckled darkly, “Echo took Omega inside the ship. I don’t care about the others. Let them hear what I do to you.” He pushed my thighs apart, opening me up more for him and dipping two fingers into my opening slightly.
“R-Rex.” I whimpered softly, reacting to his fingers threatening to penetrate. I suppose this was what I deserved for being so openly explicit in front of the guys.
“That’s it. My name. That’s all I’ll allow you to say. All I want them to hear spilling out of that filthy mouth, cyar’ika.” He grumbled, scolding me with his words but pleasuring me so powerfully and perfectly with his hands. His fingers pushed inside my entrance, fluttering with need he’d coaxed out of me with only words.
Was he…? Jealous? Jealous of how his brothers eyes looked at me so longingly. Such a pretty thing being so vulgar so proudly. I knew exactly what I was doing teasing them and that was solely to rile up Rex. I did not expect him to get jealous enough that he’d take me right here, outside while his brothers slept beside us. To act so possessive of me that he couldn’t help but stake his claim, mark his fucking territory right here, right now.
I expected to maybe get punished later on when we were alone on our ship after we left them. But the way they watched me, craved me, lusted after me must’ve stirred something greedy, possessive, dominant inside him. I was into it. Very, very into it.
“I was just having a little fun…” I pouted, nibbling his thumb resting on my lower lip. He buried his face in my neck and kissed right along the deep vein of my pulse. He sucked a deep hickey so hard onto my skin I could already feel the blood pounding to form a purple bruise. His fingers curled inside me, pressing against the sensitive spot on the front wall he knew drove me crazy. I bit my bottom lip to hold back a loud moan as dizzying pleasure shot up my spine.
“No, you bad girl. They want you. They want to have you like I do. But you’re gonna remind them who you belong to…” He groaned, twisting his fingers and burying them to the knuckle inside me. My hand flew back to grip his side, using his strong frame for leverage as I ground my hips down to meet his thrusting hand.
“Y-you, Rex. I belong to you.” I moaned, digging my fingers into his arm and pulling his hand away from my mouth so I could be heard better.
“That’s right, mesh’la. You’re mine.” His fingers curled, pressing the pads of his gloved fingertips into a spot that made my mind blank and my toes curl. I hissed loudly as the tension building in my core tightened, my walls closing in on his wide digits. His now free hand slid down my stomach, trailing circles across my skin before resting a searing pressure on my clit. My eyes rolled back in my head and I instinctually thrusted my hips up to follow his touch.
“Fuck.” I whined, “Rex…don’t stop, don’t fucking stop. I need to cum for you. Please.” He rubbed faster circles as I egged him on, my grip on his hip tightening. He slowed, despite every inch of my body begging him not to and pulled his soaked hands from between my thighs.
“Hmm…since you want to keep running your pretty little mouth…” He brought the wet edges of his gloves to my lips and pushed them inside, running the taste of me along my own tongue. “Bet you taste so good for me…” His chest was heaving behind me as he felt my lips wrap around his fingers. I swirled my tongue around the fabric, tracing the tang on every stitch and making him grumble in satisfaction. I popped off him as he slid his fingers out, instead using them to hold my face as he engulfed my mouth with his tongue to taste as much of me as he desired. A warm exhale washed over my face as he broke the kiss, holding my gaze and smirking as we both fought through our lust to catch our breath.
“Would rather be tasting something else, Rex.” I replied suggestively, pressing my ass against his lap, his bulge probably wildly uncomfortable underneath his codpiece. He groaned as soon as I bumped him, clearly painfully hard and as desperate to be touched as I was.
His hands explored underneath my top, squeezing both breasts in his trembling hands. He whimpered in my ear from behind and traced his tongue along the shell of my ear. Hips rotated against my backside, grinding his needy cock into the space that called for him so many times before. He wanted this, but was holding back.
I had to egg him on more to draw out this possessive side of him and encourage him to throw caution to the wind. Forget how many rules this might break or how awkward it’ll be tomorrow. Who cares? We needed this.
“What would they think…? If they woke up and saw my mouth wrapped around you? Think of how badly they’d want me then. Stars I’d be such a sight.” I teased, pushing him past the breaking point.
I could feel him getting hot with arousal and a little anger behind me. “Mesh’la…still won’t learn your lesson…you really want to tempt me hmm? Fine. I’ll just have to fuck that bold little mouth quiet.”
I turned over in his grasp and looked up at him for the first time since he woke me. His brows were furrowed in a grumpy scowl, and if I didn’t know any better I’d think he actually was mad at me. But that loving twinkle in his brown eyes reflected in the light of the moon and signaled his undying affection for me, like they always did. The crinkles by his eyes deepened as a small smile stretched across his face, eyes darting over how the shadows of the moonlit night danced across my features.
“Go ahead…you’re in charge, Rex. I deserve it. I’m yours.” I smirked, rocking my core against his and fumbling with the magclips of his codpiece to remove the armor in our way.
“Aww see? Only I know how to get you to behave.” He chuckled, brushing the hair from my forehead and helping me remove the plastoid with his free hand.
“You’re the only one I want to behave for.” I retorted, freeing the armor from his lap and tossing it carelessly to the ground next to our cot. At this point, if the sounds woke up any of the three boys around us, I can’t say I’d care a single bit. I ran my hands along the hem of his bottoms, rolling the fabric down until his cock sprang up against his lower abs. He exhaled in relief as my hands wrapped around the shaft, gently tugging at his pounding length.
“Mmm cyare fuck. Need to…see you prove it.” He groaned softly, tipping my chin up to his face with his curled fingers and slipping his thumb into my mouth. I bit down on the digit gently and smiled devilishly up at him.
“You don’t believe me?” I asked, shifting my body down the cot as quietly as I could underneath our blankets. There was nothing I wanted more right now than to kiss down his entire torso. Over every scar, curve and hardened muscle he had. To pay him extra special attention because I just fucking loved him so. But there wasn’t time to remove all the armor and as much as I wouldn’t mind if any of the others saw me, I wasn’t going out of my way to be careless enough to wake them up either.
I laid my cheek on the cool plastoid covering his thigh and threw the blankets off again, revealing how dangerously close I was to slipping him into my mouth. “Could never want anyone else but you. This pretty cock…has ruined me for anyone else.” I whispered, coaxing my fist over the blunt head and collecting the wet droplets of precum already leaking out of the slit.
His eyes screwed shut and his body tensed as I soothed the throbbing ache of his cock with just a few touches. “S-show me,” he hissed through gritted teeth, “show me how it ruins you.” I looked up at him through dark lashes, biting my lip in satisfaction as he instructed me to worship his cock exactly how I wanted to. I dragged open mouthed kisses up the thick vein on the underside before slowly placing the tenderest gentle kiss on the tip. I moaned softly, letting my tongue dart out to flick the slit and taste him more.
I smiled, my lips spreading against him and making him toss his head back as the sight became too much for him. “My favorite view in the galaxy. My Rex…maker did your brothers staring make you a little jealous?” I asked, twisting and guiding my wrist up his shaft and dribbling saliva into my waiting fist.
He let out a pained exhale, disguising a filthy moan and meeting my gaze with lust heavy lids. His brows knitted together in concentration as he tried hard to keep his composure. He took a deep breath, tangling his fingers into my hair and gently pressing my lips to his cock. “Not jealous.” He said stubbornly, his jaw tightening as I blinked up at him.
“Hunter thinks I’m a handful.” I teased, spitting sloppily all over his cock and slicking it down the shaft. I parted my lips, slowly sliding him further into my mouth. I watched his eyes flutter closed, trying so hard to stay annoyed at me for acting out.
“Because you won’t behave for Hunter like you do for me. Isn’t that right, little brat?” He smirked, a low rumble growing in his chest as I popped off of him. His fingertips grazed my cheekbone and he tipped my chin to force my gaze back up at him, expecting an answer.
I beamed, “Mhm. I’m only good for you…Captain.” I watched the mischief in his eyes darken his pupils even more as I told him exactly what he wanted to hear. And calling him by his title always did things to him. I leaned forward and swallowed him down again, lips wrapping around the girth of him and never breaking eye contact.
“Such a good girl…remembers all the ranks…follows all my rules.” He whispered, his voice straining more and more as I bobbed up and down on his cock. Drool rolled down the underside, lubing up my twisting fist and slicking my movements even more. He pulsed against my lips, adrenaline and blood making him grow thicker and needier in the wet cavern of my mouth. Both my small hands twisted in opposite directions as I stroked him, while obscene and prominent suckling sounds filled the stale night air.
Part of me wanted those boys to hear this. Wanted them to watch their superior take me the way only he could, the way he deserved. To allow him to flex why he was in charge and they weren’t. As much as he got off on claiming me, I got off on him pulling rank and taking charge of everyone around him, including myself.
“Of course I do. I’m the Captain’s girl. I have to set a good example.” I teased, knowing full well I had broken a ton of rules and pushed past more than a few boundaries by working up every man around me on purpose. He pulled my hair slightly, positioning my lips where he wanted and thrusting his hips up to shove himself between them. His broad hand wrapped around the back of my head, guiding me at the speed he wanted. I moaned around him, letting the tip of him bottom out on the back of my throat.
“Fuck, mesh’la. Say that a little louder for me? You’re whose girl?” He asked, panting as I inhaled, forcing back gags and swallowing around his cock. My lips pulled taut around the width of him and my jaw ached from holding my mouth open for him to fuck into. I blinked up at him, bleary-eyed with tears streaming down my cheeks, wetting his thigh armor beneath us with a mixture of spit, precum and tears. He smiled at the sight of me absolutely ruined by his cock beneath him, a lovesick haze glazing over the dark lust in his eyes. He guided me off him, wanting to hear only one thing out of my mouth.
“Yours. Rex’s girl. Always.” I gasped out between desperate breaths for air, precum filled saliva strands trailing from my lips to his cock. I collected the wet mess and slicked it around his sensitive tip, my thumb caressing the frenulum and wrapping my lips around the weeping hole. The second my lips connected with his cock again he practically howled, curling fingers around my neck and resting the other on my shoulder to grip me as close to him as possible.
“Good girl. Only my name comes out of that perfect fucking mouth. Stuffed full of my cock. You love it, don’t you? You love blowing me so messy…drooling on my cock. My perfect filthy girl.” He praised as I nodded in response, pulling the blanket off to get an unobstructed view of my face. Or maybe it was because he wanted me to be seen doing this. Something really had gotten into him if he was bold enough to do this with eyes possibly watching us.
He was pounding against my tongue, slowly rolling his hips up as I swallowed him down. I whimpered around him as he picked up the pace, fucking into my mouth as he promised. The sound of gags filled the air, no longer muffled by a blanket over my head. I took in several deep breaths, letting my jaw slack obediently and allowing him to slip back as deep as I could. He grunted lowly, his thighs twitching beneath me and signaling how close he was. He pulled my hair back harder than before, lifting me off him and catching his breath. I wiped my lips with my fingers and reached down to swipe the slick between my legs. Rex let out a loud, exasperated exhale at the sight and grabbed my other wrist.
“No more touching until I say.” He groaned, almost pleading with me for mercy. I knew that working him up only to make him watch me play around would have him spilling all over us both way too soon. I sat up on my knees and slowly made my way up his torso, fingers tracing the seams of plastoid covering the plane of his chest. I rolled my body against his, making him tremble with hopeless want. I hovered my upper body above his and dangled my slick covered fingers between us.
“You sure you don’t want to taste what all this possessiveness does to me, Captain?” I taunted, watching him grit his teeth, desperately trying to maintain the control between us. His lips quirked, drawing a mischievous grin across his tense face. His heavy hands latched onto my hip bones and he leaned in close enough to draw my fingers into his mouth. A low groan left his lips as he instead brushed his stubbled cheek against mine, bringing his lips to my ear and swirling his tongue over the sensitive spot beneath it.
Suddenly, he slapped both hands down onto my ass hard and gripped the flesh tightly before saying out loud for the entire planet to hear, “No cyar’ika, I would rather feel it.”
He drove my hips down, splitting me apart on top of him as he speared up into me brutally. The pressure of his cock forcing my swollen walls apart made me scramble for something to grab onto. I found the comforting width of his shoulders and dug my grip into them.
I buried my face in his neck and squealed, “Rex- oh fuck, Rex.” Fire ignited from the base of my spine to the tips of my fingers. He pushed my hips down onto him, pressing his cock up into a space inside me that felt so good it tore the breath from my lungs. My pussy spasmed around the thick length tearing into me and he choked out a low whine at my body’s jerking reaction to his sudden entry. The explosion of pleasure wracked my nerves and I pressed sloppy kisses along his jaw just to keep myself from screaming. He guided my hips up and down to start a slow, ruthless pace.
“Got you so worked up, didn’t I? Acting so bold because you needed me to fuck you like this.” He muttered in my ear, lifting his thighs to repeatedly sink himself into my heat. I twisted my hips, finally comfortably opened up enough to do some of the work myself. I sped up, the flesh of my thighs slapping against his lap obscenely as I rode him with all the strength I could gather.
“Yes baby. I-I like when you show off.” I whispered, resting my hand on his jaw to turn his face towards mine. “Mmm reminds me why you’re in charge.” My jaw dropped open as he held my center in place with one strong arm, shallow snaps of his hips making his writhing torso catch my clit. Tingling radiated from our joined hips outward and I rested my cheek against his as I moaned softly.
He huffed in amusement, clearly pleased at my submission to him. “Seems like you wanted to remind everyone I’m in charge, needy girl. You want me to show them who owns this little pussy?” He asked, his hungry eyes watching how pleasure contorted my features. The blissful rocking of his hips made the width of him stretch me open almost painfully, every thrust carrying a jolting buzz of delight through my every last nerve. I could feel the building pressure in my gut cinching tighter and tighter. The drag of his cock repeatedly breaching my tight entrance sent wet heat drenching my cunt and coaxing sounds out of me that I could just barely hold back.
“Please, Rex. Want them to hear how good you fuck me.” I begged, my insides beginning to clamp down on his cock still railing into me harshly. I fluttered around it, my entrance pulled taut to fit the sheer size of him and the arousal he’d caused slicking each movement.
His head lolled back against the pillow as my words hit him.
A moan ripped through me as he sat up more, changing the angle and sending the tip prodding into the deepest part of my pussy. My back arched as he bottomed out into the spot over and over again, tears brimming up in my eyes as the pleasure threatened to overwhelm me.
“Right there. Ha-harder, Rex.” I gasped, choking for air I couldn’t inhale without forcing the vice grip on his cock to wind tighter. I sat up, resting my palms on his flexing pectorals and my nails scratching red marks across the dark skin. His gaze traced up my exposed chest, following the craning of my neck to my face, brows raised in expressive ecstasy. “fuck you feel so good.” I whimpered, tracing my hand along my thigh wrapped around his waist. He knew where my hand was going without even watching it and he grabbed my wrist to keep it from moving.
“No hands, mesh’la. I’ll decide when you cum.” He almost growled, his gravelly voice deepening as he made the seductive threat. “Sit back and let me watch that little cunt take me.” He asked, grabbing my shoulders and tipping me back until I rested both palms on his still plastoid covered thighs. The new angle allowed him a perfect view of how I sheathed him with each thrust, my wet folds enveloping every last inch of his pounding cock. I tossed my head back and moaned louder, the sound loud enough now to bounce off the ruined metal hulls of the ships in the distance.
His gaze jumped from our joined centers to my tits bouncing and back, thoroughly enjoying how each brutal shove into me racked my entire body. “Look at you…fuck- you’re so good for me. Might even let you cum like this, pretty girl.” He reached forward and caressed the curve of my breast with his thumb. The nipple budded up at his touch instantly, goosebumps erupting on my skin now exposed to the cool night air. He hummed in delight and traced his calloused hand down my torso.
I watched him with desperate anticipation, hoping to the stars above that he was finally going to touch me. He smiled up at me, reading the pained look on my face and pouting up at me mockingly. I whimpered, twisting my center around him in figure 8s chasing the mountain of pleasure I was desperate to find the peak of.
“C-can I…cum now, Rex? I want to…” I wailed, the simple act of asking his permission setting a smoldering flame of heat alight in my core. He slid the hand roaming my torso down to where my touch starved clit ached for attention and gingerly rubbed light circles across it with his thumb.
I cried out in agony, the pleasure searing through my body blanked my mind of everything but Rex’s hands on me, Rex’s thighs supporting me beneath him, Rex’s cock pounding and pleading for release inside me.
He laughed, strained and breathy, but clearly amused and enjoying this. “If you ask politely…show me you remember how to behave now…” He offered, pressing on my clit harder and burying the head of his cock into the perfect spot that only he could ever seem to find.
“Please, Rex. Please.” I gasped, searching for some part of him to grab onto and immediately finding his already outstretched hand, tangling his fingers between mine. Suddenly, he sat bolt upright, his mouth latching onto my nipple and biting down as the change in angle pierced into a spot that forced the built-up pressure in my core to finally burst.
“My mesh’la. Make me so fucking proud. Cum for me. Right on my cock you love so much.” He said, the rambling words of permission signaling his own climax wasn’t far behind mine. “Show ‘em all how pretty my girl is when she cums for me.”
“Rex!”
Pleasure cascaded down my body like a waterfall, my mind numb to the feeling of anything else but orgasmic euphoria. My thighs tensed and my fingers curled, squeezing his hand and the strewn blanket for any kind of stability. The sheer force of my orgasm propelled my body upwards, as if to keep my head above water before the wave pummeled me back down in its undertow. An extinguishing ripple of pleasure flushed through the blistering heat of arousal that had been torturing my body. It washed down through my core and made the aching tightness entrapping him in my walls release.
He let out a low groan and held my hips to his tightly as he let my spasming walls milk the release out of his overstimulated cock. “That’s it. Look what taking my cock does to you. Only I can fuck you full like this. You’re fucking mine. Fuck, mesh’la. Fuck-“ He hissed, each erratic thrust dismantling all that was left of his domineering strength.
The flexing inside my heat dragged rope after rope of hot, sticky cum out of him. My insides felt ruined and heavy, weighed down by the twitch of his cock and the seeds of his euphoria saturating any remaining empty space. He was practically whimpering beneath me, the pleasure too good for either of us to contemplate changing positions. His hands wrapped around my back and held me into him, aftershocks ravaging both of us. Slippery skin slid against skin, panting breaths too hot to cool either of us down.
I slumped onto his shoulder, lazily rocking my hips to chase the wave of pleasure as it receded away gradually. His broad chest heaved under me and his hand cupped the back of my neck. An overly satisfied giggle left my lips. “Mmm…Rex.” I hummed, nuzzling into his neck and delicately kissing places I’d bruised.
“You gonna behave yourself now?” He teased, stroking my hair and messaging the back of my neck with his outrageously strong hand.
“If acting out gets me fucked like…that? Never.” I laughed, biting down on a particularly pretty purple spot I’d gifted him with.
“Good.” He snorted, “I’ll just have to teach you this lesson again, my pretty girl.” A deep, gruff hum bubbled up in his chest, as he pulled us both back down onto his cot.
I reached my hand up to brush his cheekbone, ghosting my touch down his jaw. I tipped my head to the side, marveling at the lengths such a perfect man would go to affirm his love for me. He proved how much I meant to him every single day. He never had a single thing to worry about. Sure millions of others shared his face, those same dark eyes, determined grin, strong jaw and deep voice. But they weren’t him. No matter how many versions of him I ever met, they would never compare to him. He was more special than he even knew.
His inability to shake the deeply ingrained idea that they were all just numbers wouldn’t stand in the way of how deeply intwined our souls were in the cosmic force. I wasn’t even a Jedi but I could feel this. I knew it in my heart that this clone wasn’t like his brothers at all. Because Rex’s very soul was forever changed by the bond we’d formed together. That was something no geneticist or messed up cloning experiment could ever change. We were one now and we always would be.
“I am yours. You know that, right?” I muttered, leaning forward to press a gentle kiss to his lips still open and panting from exertion. “Just wanted to give you the chance to remind other people. You’re still a bit of a showoff.” I giggled happily, propping myself up on one arm resting beside his head and letting the other hand smooth over the expression breaking the usual tension that formed across his brow bone.
He watched my chest rising and falling trying to catch my breath and dragged light fingertips up and down my bare back. Warm hands pulled me back together from my usual explosive high and curled his protective grip around my smaller frame.
“You just put on a show like that and I’m the show off?” He teased, rolling his hips lazily against mine and laughing softly. He tucked hair behind my ears and eased me down onto his chest. He nuzzled his cheek onto the top of my head and wrapped his arms around me tightly. “I think you like me showing off, cyar’ika. Always have.”
“Yes, well, you look too good doing it not to.” I whispered, peppering light kisses along his neck and smoothing my fingers along his collar bone. “We should probably try to actually get some sleep.”
“Some of us have been trying to do that for hours now.” A deep, harsh voice grumbled from somewhere in the darkness around us. Hunter. Exactly who started all this in the first place.
I looked up at Rex, wide-eyed and shrinking into his body in embarrassment. He laughed, pulling the blanket back over my naked body and flexing proudly that his loud claiming of me had actually been heard by those he intended.
“Sorry, boys, but this isn’t the GAR barracks anymore. I no longer have to follow rules I don’t like.” He said, rolling my body on top of his and holding me in his grasp. If anyone told me even a few months ago that Captain Rex was doing this, I would’ve fainted probably. But hell who cares anymore, right?
“Something tells me that those rules never stopped her.” A second, loftier voice responded. Tech.
I giggled, “No, they didn’t.” Remembering the select few times I’d snuck into his quarters, too needy after a month’s long mission to wait for him to come to me. Senator’s staff clearance permissions giving me special entry to certain places was convenient. Besides, most of the 501st knew the drill by that point anyways. If they ever heard anything, they knew better than to mention anything to their commanding officer.
Rex traced his fingertips up my spine, the way he always did when he was thoroughly satisfied. “How much did you hear?” He asked, the wry smile on his face proving that he absolutely was not sorry he’d woken them.
“More than enough.” Hunter replied in a huff, as if the graphic display had disturbed some dream he was having. Perhaps the teasing had gone a little too far with him. The sound of rustling blankets and then padded footsteps filled the silence.
“Where are you going?” Tech asked, using a datapad to illuminate the darkness.
“Check on Omega. Get some real rest.” He shot back, his boots meeting metal. “Goodnight.”
I looked at Rex sheepishly, feeling a little guilty about flaunting something in front of him that he clearly craved. Rex shrugged, not exactly thrilled about the idea of this particular brother thinking about me like that.
“Sorry we woke you.” I whispered, turning over to apologize to Tech.
“That’s alright. Don’t worry about Hunter. He’ll…get over it.” Tech explained, his eyes meeting mine over the top of his holopad. He seemed unbothered and I shrugged away my worries about Hunter’s hurt feelings.
“Tech…are you able encrypt those? So no one can track you or anything?” I asked, sitting up with our blanket wrapped across my chest. He laughed softly, as if even asking that was a silly question.
“Of course I can. Why do you ask?” He said, sitting up and rifling through his pack beside him.
“Rex and I need a way to…do some research without enemy eyes finding out.”
Rex, intrigued and likely following my train of thought, swung his legs over the side of his cot. “We need a way to get intel from inside the Empire. Inside the clone network. Check on some people.”
“Hmmm…I can give you a spare to surf the holonet. But tapping into the inner workings of the Empire is dangerous…I’ll have to look into how to do that safely. Here.” He replied, tossing Rex the extra pad he pulled from his bag.
“Thanks Tech.” We said together, Rex bumping the back of my shoulder with his. Tech hummed some kind of you’re welcome before settling back down in his makeshift bed. Rex rested his chin on my shoulder as we both looked on the holopad like we’d never seen this technology before.
“Who should we look for first?” I whispered, the search database blinking and waiting for me to enter in the aurebesh letters.
“Look us up.” He replied, typing his designated number into the former republic database and hitting search.
CT-7567: Rank - Captain. Battalion - 501st. Last Mission - Siege of Mandalore. Status - Killed in Action, Cruiser crashed on moons of Bogdon System. Body never recovered.
“Hmmm…well I don’t feel dead.” He joked morbidly, scrolling back up to enter in a new name to the search field.
I typed in my own name and found…nothing. My existence wiped from Senate records. “What?” I whispered out loud, my eyes wide with surprise and Rex’s deep in thought. “Only those with Senate clearance could do this. Someone’s…watching my back.”
Before Rex could speak, footsteps racing down the ship’s ramp made us both turn away from the mystery in front of us. Through the darkness, we could just make out Echo’s silhouette illuminated by a few soft lights inside our ship. He was panting, clearly desperate to give us some kind of urgent news.
“You two better come inside. Someone’s sending you a coded transmission. Highly scrambled and classified and you’re not going to believe who it is.”

One Last Goodbye
A/N: For the sake of story, Fives is still alive and knows Echo is with The Bad Batch - they get peace too. Also this is pre TBB show cause I want everyone to be alive and well. More notes at the end
This day had been coming for some time now.
You knew it, your boys all knew it. The time had finally come. Despite this day creeping closer and closer, that didn’t make it easier. And you knew that despite them having time to prepare, it wasn’t easy on any of them either.
You’d all been staying in a small village, on one last job. Cody had been sure to make it a good one, since he knew it’d be your last, he’d even gone to the lengths of securing you all shelter off of the ship. The boys had helped you move most of your things off of it already, since you’d be staying on this planet for at least a while. It was small enough to be secure until you figured out something else. But for now, it was a good option for you.
But that didn’t make it easier.
This might’ve been the most difficult decision you’ve ever made.
But it was time, and you knew it. You just couldn’t keep up anymore, and you couldn’t risk your boys suffering because of your decline. That’s part of being a good soldier, is knowing when to call it quits before you end up dying, or having those close to you die, as a result of your stubbornness.
It just wasn’t a risk that you were willing to take.
But now, as you stand alone on the Marauder, your last bag over your shoulder, just.. Taking everything in for the last time. It really hit you.
This was it.
The tears began falling, and you felt a hand come to rest on your shoulder - a strong hand, one that always comforted you. Wordlessly, you turned, burying your face into Hunter’s armorless chest. He didn’t hesitate to wrap his arms around you in return, holding you close.
Though you didn’t see them, you felt the presence of the others standing behind him. Rex had even taken it upon himself to request a special assignment for himself, Fives, Kix, and Jesse. They wanted to be here to say goodbye as well.
“You don’t have to go.” Hunter said, only half-joking. He understood your reasons for your “retirement”, and he agreed that it’d be the best option.
“I wish that were the case.” You chuckled, pulling away and wiping the last of your tears. You needed to hold it together.
“We’ll come visit you!” Wrecker chimed in, clearly trying to hold it together himself. “Any chance we get!”
“He’s right. You’ll always be one of us.” Tech agreed.
“And we don’t abandon each other.” Crosshair spoke up. (I’M SORRY)
“We’ll always just be a call away.” Echo added, tapping his comm with a forced smile.
“That goes for us, too!” Rex jumped in. “Though we can’t just be there as easily - but I can always try and pull some strings with General Skywalker.”
“Thank you guys.” You smiled, the first genuine one you’d had all day. “Really. I don’t know what I’m gonna do without you all.”
“I don’t know what we’re gonna do without your cooking!” Wrecker joked. “You remember when you first started with us, how you went full mom-mode?”
“Yeah, you won all of us over with those cooking skills of yours.” Hunter joined in, giving your shoulder an affectionate shove.
“Yeah, I remember.” You chuckled, remembering the fond memories.
“Remember the snowball fight on Hoth?” Echo brought up, resulting in a groan from Tech.
“I’ve tried to forget.” He snided, albeit jokingly, earning a light shove from his brother.
“Aw, come on, you had fun and you know it!” Wrecker teased.
“And I’m never gonna forget the lengths you guys went to for celebrating my birthday.” You brought up.
“We’ll have to track you down for it again this year. Make it a yearly gathering.” Hunter smiled down at you.
“I’ve already added it into our data bank!” Tech chimed in, waving his holopad for emphasis.
“You guys don’t have to-”
“Aye, can you forward that to us?” Fives asked. “I’d never pass up a chance to have some drunken shenanigans with Y/N.” He joked with a wink in your direction, causing you to roll your eyes despite the smile that was burning your cheeks. Jesse gave him a shove for the comment.
“Don’t be an idiot.” He scolded lightheartedly.
“What? I’m serious!”
“You drinking around Y/N again is the last thing you need to do.” Rex groaned. “But please do forward it though, Tech. We’d love to join in on the celebrating.” He said more seriously, to which Tech agreed, already getting to work on doing so.
“Oh! Oh! And all the fun times at 79’s!” Wrecker called out.
“That di’kut of Cody’s wouldn’t’ve stood a chance.” You laughed, recalling one of the few memories you actually had from that night.
“Personally, I’ll never forget around the time we were first getting to know each other and you did finger guns at me and panicked.” Rex laughed at the memory.
“You’re the one who accused me of mocking you for doing it, that’s why I panicked!” You retorted, laughing as well.
“Or when you were on assignment with us and I caught you with that snack you weren’t supposed to have.” He teased.
“What? You guys were sneaking snacks?!” Jesse asked, clearly upset that he wasn’t let-in on the snacks. “Why wouldn’t you tell me?! I can’t stand the rations!”
“Gar partaylir any be te Mando'a Ni taught gar?” (You remember any of the Mando’a I taught you?) Kix asked with a smirk and quirked brow.
“Uh.. Ni partaylir some!” (I remember some!) You replied, only vaguely confident. The boys all chuckled a bit, it had been a sweet gesture for you to try and learn on their behalf.
You all continued swapping stories and reliving memories for awhile, until The Batch got a comm from Cody - a gentle reminder that they’ll have to leave ASAP to get back in time. A few moments later, Rex got a similar comm.
“Well..” You cleared your throat, fighting off the tears once again.
“Well..” Hunter repeated, flashing you a sad look.
“Well…” Rex repeated as well. You couldn’t help but chuckle, a few tears slipping through your defenses.
“Guess this is it?” You said, trying to force your voice to remain steady. You just needed to hold it together until you were alone, wanting the last memory you’d have with them all for a while to be a good one. One last happy memory for the road.
“Guess it is.” Hunter sighed. Everyone was giving you the same look - sad eyes, forced small smiles, clearly trying their best to be strong for your sake. You were doing the same, of course, only less successfully.
“I’m really gonna miss you guys, you know that? Be sure to visit when you can, alright?” Your voice began wavering.
“We will. You can count on us.” Tech replied, everyone giving a short nod of agreement.
“Aw, c’mere!” Wrecker exclaimed, pushing the others aside and enveloping you in a tight hug - so tight that you feared you might break, but you sure as hell weren’t going to complain.
“Wrecker, you’re gonna break the poor girl.” Crosshair scolded. The bigger man let you go, only for the sniper to take his place. One by one, everyone gave you a hug, damn near as tight as they all could manage.
“Alright, if we don’t say goodbye now, I don’t think I’ll be able to do it.” You half-joked through your tears.
“Cody’s gonna have our asses if we don’t get a move on anyways.” Hunter said, to which Rex agreed.
“Thank you all - for everything. For making me feel like I’m part of the squads.”
“You are, part of both of ours. Always will be, too.” Jesse spoke up, everyone agreeing.
“Thank you.” You smiled. Taking one last, long look around the Marauder - and one last look at all of your boys, you inhaled deeply and made your way off of the ship, followed by the 501st boys. They stood in the hatch of their ship, your Batch standing in the hatch of theirs.
“Take care of yourself, Y/N.” Hunter said with a small smile.
“Right back ‘atcha, boys.” You responded in kind.
“Don’t hesitate to give us a call!” Echo piped up from behind him.
“Us too!” Fives called out. You chuckled.
“Don’t worry, you’ll all be hearing from me. I can’t just cut ties for good, now can I?”
“You’d better not.” Crosshair said.
“Wouldn’t dream of it, don’t worry.”
Another comm came through to both parties, and they all tensed.
This is it.
“We’ll being seeing you, Y/N.” Hunter said, nodding for Tech to be ready to hit the hatch.
“We’ll see you around.” Rex added, gesturing for Kix to do the same to their hatch.
“I’ll see you all later, boys.” You said to both parties. Suddenly, both squads stood in a salute, and you did the same. That was what shattered you, though you continued trying to hold it all back for the time being. Both buttons were hit, raising both hatches - though the shared solutes remained until the very last second. Before long, they were both getting ready to take off, and you waved goodbye until they were both gone.
Finally, you went back to your little hut, shut the door, and let all of the tears you were holding back finally fall - only left with the trinkets you’d gathered with both squads, and the fond memories that you held dear.
That was it.
One last goodbye.
A/N: Thank you, each and every one of you, for sticking with me and being a part of this crazy journey. It’s been awhile, and I think it’s time I turn in the towel. I might be back one day - it’s real possible. But for now, this is goodbye.
