Thank you very much for sharing Promise! It's very beautiful and I like this kind of music where it mixes traditional with modern stuff! Do you know of other similar sounding songs?
Good morning anon!! (maybe it’s not morning to you, but it’s morning for me! hehe Something’s been bothering me so I ended up waking after having slept for four hours... wide awake now orz) Aw, I’m happy to hear you liked hearing it// I feel as if it’s an underrated song because the song is way much prettier when you get to know the lyrics, but not many seem to know. The korean lyrics for that song is a bit complex, thus it’s pretty hard to convey the feelings for it.. I remember trying pretty hard to choose the right words in order to do that back when I translated it, hopefully it paid off..!
That aside, I actually think I do, I can name several right off the list out of songs I know!// It may not exactly feel the same way but let me tell you some good ones. I can recommend all of these songs/arrangements with confidence!! Music Recommendations sign me the heck up anytime >v//
1. SoHyang’s Arirang Alone (홀로 아리랑) it’s so good
I think a big chunk of what’s made the song “promise” so charming to hear was thanks to the voice of the singer as well as M2U’s use of rich instrumentals.
This one also has an amazing voice, the singer’s voice is heavenly. It starts out softly (but it still has strength in it), then becomes powerful as the song progresses! Her voice grasps you, and I feel as if a mermaid or a siren really existed it’d totally sound like her. There’s something about her voice that pulls you in and ceases to let go...!! Also, the stage is packed with lovely instrumentals which makes the song all the more enjoyable to listen to. Arirang is one of the most famous korean traditional folk songs, a lot of koreans feel like a part of their soul’s in it (as wikipedia describes it it is a “Korean folk song, often considered as the unofficial national anthem of Korea”) and this arrange of hers gives a modern and trendy feel to it. Please listen to this one if you liked promise, or interested in “korean traditional pop”. You won’t regret it.
2. Yume to Hazakura-Kurenai
This one is Japanese, and I stumbled upon this song by chance around November last year. Which I’m glad I did.. I still haven’t looked up the full lyrics for this but I have a feeling it would be something beautiful and sad from the feelings it gives? As if you’re longing for someone who can’t return. It also has this “traditional” feeling to it and the singer has a good voice!//
3. Howls’ Moving Castle- Merry go round of life (Played with haegeum)
Yes, a lot of us know this track and we all know it’s beautiful, right? Please listen to this arrange for it, oh my god I love Haegeum so much. It’s one of my most favorite instruments of all time. This is a korean string instrument with only two strings, and I have no idea how it can make those rich and diverse sounds. Haegeum also has this feeling of sorrow attached to it which pierces through the heart. I feel nostalgic when I listen to it and this instrument makes your heart ache. When you’re feeling sentimental, the sound of it might make you cry, but it’s also soothing at the same time. Here’s another arrange using haegeum from the same youtube channel. That one is pretty too!
4. 비익련리(比翼連里) (Lovers)
Another beautiful track. Haegeum blending with other modern instruments. I see in the descriptions that this was used as OST for a famous Kdrama "추노 (Chu No)", which I actually haven’t watched ;v; It’s so nice though!!!;; I don’t know what other words to describe this as... it feels as if you’re stepping into a old east asian story. The power of good music is amazing huhu
5.四千年~夜明け Vanilla mood
if there’s one artist I think is seriously underrated, it’d be vanilla mood. It’s a classic band which consisted of piano, cello, violin, and flute (when I searched their name up I think the person who played the flute’s left the band now?)
Gosh.. their stuff is so impressive... so pretty. The instruments blend in perfect harmony and their tracks sound so complete. I’ve only listened to their talesweaver album which I found on youtube (this was due to sheer luck because I know nothing of this game either than the fact it has a lovely soundtrack) but oh my god. It’s perfect. The tracks I’ll include in this ask’d be the more traditional-sounding ones but, listen to their full album if you have the time. It’s on youtube. It’s in my blog playlist too, and as long as I have a blog here THAT TRACK IS STAYING. I’m never taking it out the list. I’ve got complimented of my blog playlist several times and the people who complimented it almost always mentioned me about vanilla mood’s songs. It’s really nice
6.Apparition Vanilla mood
I talked about vanilla mood right above so there’s nothing much more to mention ONE THING THOUGH, this song’s title equals my impression on how the word “apparition” feels to me now.
7.紅唇 Vanilla mood
Last but not least. Super beautiful. OH RIGHT I remembered how I found vanilla mood now- somebody used this as bgm for their blog and I LOOKED EVERYWHERE FOR THIS SONG... words can’t describe how happy I felt when I found it ;v; I really wanted to know the title for this track so I could come back and listen to it, I do that sometimes still. I love this so much.....
8. Loadstar-M2U
did I just say last but not least? I was gonna publish, but then I remembered about this the last minute. One of the reasons I bought the M2U&NiCODE album from the game deemo. All the tracks in their album’s beautiful actually. Just take my money. The strings and piano are charming!!// and it feels soothing, as well as a feeling of nostalgia
It’s the same composer who wrote the song “Promise” too, so I think you will like this track as well!//
I recommend all of these tracks with all my heart!! They are all 10/10 for me :) Give them all a try (it doesn’t take that much time to) when you feel like listening to something good!
