#I’m getting ready for shadowhunters 2x13

PSA: SNEAK PEAK OF EPISODE THIRTEEN AND WILL INCLUDE TALKS OF HISTORY TRAUMA BISEXUAL STEREOTYPES RACISM HOMOPHOBIA AND THE CLAVE BEING THE WORST OF THE WORST AND THINKING ITS OKAY TO INVOLUNTARILY CHIP DOWNWORLDERS BUT THINKS ITS FINE WHEN INNOCENT DOWNWORLDERS DIE AND ARE HUNTED FOR CENTURIES BLOODY FUCK THIS WAS LONG

I did go on a little history rant or whatever you want to call it so if that’s not your thing, go ahead and skip it. while this show is about supernatural beings- if you’re going to bring up themes of racism, brutality, homophobia, don’t be afraid to bring up the actual history that has occurred with these themes. it happened and needs to be remembered. but anyways, skip it if you don’t like it

I actually like episode 13 of season 2 because it’s where shadowhunters are being taught how race works, how a gay man gets passed up on a promotion, how some shadowhunters blindly follow orders, why Simon won’t just give a racist government what they want, and so on

let’s start with Simon (I love this moment with Simon. world war ll is one of my favorite history subjects and it was a nice touch seeing it brought up in the show.) also clary was a mundane for 17 years, now the fuck does she not know about this? I get not simons family history but girl is blind as fuck

how downworlders lost their lives but no shadowhunters paid any consequences and not counting valentine. Jace is just living his best life while thousands + downworlders are mourning their family members who died for no reason and no seems to care

a young black powerful woman explaining race because I guess of course she has to explain and prove she did nothing wrong

how most shadowhunters blindly follow orders (which can be taken back to world war ll and how many people were just following orders. 60-85 million people can be estimated to die during this time. I usually estimate 60 million but I’m not a historian so it could have been more.

while in the holocaust (Simon storyline) 11 million died and 6 million of those were Jewish, and the rest were homosexuals, Slavs, Gypsies, anyone with disabilities, enemies of the nazi state, Roma, and anyone who hitler viewed undesirable.) (there were 42,500 concentration camps built during the Second World War, some created for extermination, labor camps, and some were built before the war even started.) (my nationality and where I’m from- we lost 27 million people during the Second World War.) (I’m an avid history lover so I just kinda went overboard) (I could’ve bored y’all with this but I tried to calm thyself)

how homophobic, racist, and in their self interest the clave is. Jace only got that promotion because of his blood. this is what Alec feared in season one and I’ll be posting more of these when I do my analysis

he feared if he dated Magnus that he would lose his career, family, everything. while he does have Magnus and his family, he got passed up on a promotion because of who he is dating. let’s be real- even if imogen didn’t know jace was her blood- riddle me this: they chose Lydia first, aldertree, and then Maryse stepped in but Alec was never chosen. if that doesn’t show racist the clave is, I don’t know what will (actually I do it was rhetorical)

none of these people are gay, bi, in the lgbtq+ community. they’re all straight. and it’s also racist because Magnus is a downworlder. shadowhunters are extremely prejudiced and racist to downworlders, adding also Magnus is from the Dutch indies which is located now in Indonesia

yeah let’s just chip the downworld involuntary. I am so so so happy that Simon made this connection. I’m always down to talk history (like I’ll never shut up about it)

the clave view downworlders are inferior as their opinions, thoughts, feelings don’t matter. downworlders don’t have a seat with the clave. they don’t get to vote on anything. they don’t have any rights. “oh we stopped hunting you but if you attack us rightfully, we will hunt you all down and chip you without your consent”- the clave. I love Alexander Gideon Lightwood calling out the clave

Alec understanding that Magnus may not wish to speak of his trauma and feelings but if he needs a change in appearance, then that’s how Magnus will cope and Alec will be there for Magnus

and my favorite of all: defying the bisexual stereotypes. this gives Harry all the awards!!!!! there’s an interview when someone calls Magnus gay and he calls them out and says actually Magnus is bisexual. (oh and CC trying to say that magnus is pan. funny when an actor playing the character knows the character better than the author who wrote him.)

I’ll find out and post it when I do this episode. so what if Magnus has 17,000 memories because he’s one soul at a time man and he’s made that clear (placing Alec gif so the gifs are all nice and straight and organized) (what, it bothers me) (more than it should)

this is one of my favorite episodes 1. the history. I’m a huge history buff and it’s funny to me how out of touch some shadowhunters are, 2. Alec quickly realizes he’s wrong and instantly goes to Magnus and apologizes (really the worst time for Alec to be on his boyfriends bad side) (plus he doesn’t wait until the very end of the episode and just says one sentence to him. yeah episode 12, that was you) and 3. it’s funny to me how the shadowhunters don’t see themselves are being the faulty party. why wouldn’t the downworld want a revolt? y’all kept so many secrets and hundreds of downworlders died for no reason. and once shadowhunters start dying, oh hell no they killed our people we should chip them without consent!!!!!

it’s just so wild to me now much they think they’re in the right. like it could’ve been a great time for the show to actually put more downworlders in the spotlight and make their concerns actually fucking matter

their lives do matter, they have opinions thoughts feelings emotions purpose. and Alec seems to be the only one who learns right away. Jace and clary are slow as fuck and need some history lessons and lectures

but it’s going to be a treat

SEASON 2B (September 28, 2016 to October 15, 2016)

2x11 “Mea Maxima Culpa” Timeframe: September 28 (before dawn) to September 29 (evening)

The date for this episode is only a best guess. There are no hard and fast indicators of how long has passed since 2x10, but we have a couple of clues (and a few causes for confusion.) Aldertree has been sent back to Idris to face reprimand (one presumes for leaving the Institute vulnerable to Valentine's attack?) Assuming this is true and not a lie like the one about the Soul Sword, at least a day or two has passed, because it would take a while for messages to pass back and forth, for the decision to be made to recall Aldertree, and for Aldertree to return. However, I doubt Imogen Herondale would wait too long before interrogating Valentine, so we may assume she arrives within a day or two of Valentine's capture.

It’s dark when Alec and Jace are sparring in the courtyard. Assuming they still work the night shift, it could be before dawn and they’re unwinding after patrol the morning of the 28th

The low light indicates it’s either sunrise or sunset when Clary and Simon are on the bench. While I’m not sure a hot dog vendor (in the background) would be out and about right at daybreak, I’m going with sunrise because they appear to be looking across the river at Manhattan, which means they’re probably in Brooklyn facing west, and the sun is behind them in the east.

Azazel attacks the bar after dark that night

Alec tends to Izzy the next morning (the 29th)

CONTINUITY SNAFU: The scene immediately following this is Luke confronting Russell in the Jade Wolf, and then Luke gets a call about Azazel's massacre in the bar. If Luke doesn't find out about it until after Alec, who contacted Alec?

CONTINUITY SNAFU CONTINUED: When Alec is notified he clearly says "there was a demon attack" and yet when Clary is looking at the bodies, she says "this looks like a demon attack" as though that is new information (like, why else would they have been called in?) Oh, Michael Reisz. I love you dearly, with all my heart and every fiber of my being, for giving us 1x12, but you are really not a very good writer

(POSSIBLE) CONTINUITY SNAFU: It’s clearly still daylight when Simon and Maia talk in the bar, but the earlier scene with Izzy encountering Azazel in the alley outside the vamp lair made it look like it was after dark. Is the alley underground? Is it under a highway somewhere that doesn’t allow daylight to get in? Demons don’t seem to like daylight, so how is Azazel out and about if it’s not dark?

It appears to be before sunset when Alec visits Magnus to ask about the demon and encounters Raphael

YET ANOTHER CONTINUITY SNAFU: Raphael says Izzy “just” came by the Dumort, but she came by in the morning as he was getting ready for coffin bed and now it’s nearly sunset

When Alec returns to the Institute to tell them Azazel may have Izzy, Clary says the Inquisitor is in a meeting with the Alicante Council. Which I guess means the Alicante Council holds meeting in the middle of the night in Idris, because 6pm New York time would be about 11pm Idris time.

Best guess is the attempt to summon Azazel takes place around 8-9pm

2x12 “You Are Not Your Own” Timeframe: September 29 (late evening) to September 30 (evening)

This episode picks up maybe an hour or so after 2x11 ends, assuming Valentine-in-Magnus’s-Body doesn’t spend more than an hour wandering around looking for Magnus’s loft

Izzy returns to the Institute with Sebastian in tow after sunrise the next morning

Izzy and Simon “visit” Rosa Santiago sometime that afternoon

CONTINUITY SNAFU: Izzy tells Rosa she and Raphael visited her for Bingo night last week, but Izzy stopped seeing Raphael only a few days ago, only hours after learning about Rosa’s existence. So that’s not possible

The body swap is undone sometime after sunset on the 30th

2x13 “Those of Demon Blood” Timeframe: October 3 (late evening) to October 5 (shortly after midnight)

The date for this episode is only a best guess. The flier Clary creates for Simon’s show says “Midnight Tuesday” which would have to mean Tuesday, October 4 because midnight on October 11 would be after the start of Yom Kippur and Simon wouldn’t be able to have a show that night (and also there wouldn’t be time for 2x14 and 2x15 to happen before 2x16, which takes place on October 12.)

Honestly the timeline for this episode is a bit of a mess. It would make a lot more sense if there was a day between solving the murder mystery with Kaelie and Simon’s show, but Magnus’s lack of a costume change indicates it all happens on the same night.

Clary tells Simon about his upcoming show sometime the evening of October 3. Which seems pretty sketchy to me “Hey, baby, I booked you a show for...24 hours from now. Have fun getting ready for that!”

Maia is wearing Costume #1

Clary and Simon find the first body shortly thereafter

Luke is pulled in for questioning by the Inquisitor maybe around midnight or shortly thereafter

The second body is found while Luke is offering his DNA

After daybreak, the Inquisitor addresses the Institute and tells them she’s leaving Jace in charge when she goes

Jace tells them to collect DNA from their friends the morning of the 4th

Alec does to see Magnus for a DNA sample around mid-morning

Apparently Clary decides to take an art class all day, however, because she doesn’t ask Simon for his DNA sample until after the sun goes down (6:31pm)

CONTINUITY SNAFU: Sometime between 6:30 and midnight, Simon refuses his DNA, rescues Clary, gets arrested, gets released, goes home, changes his clothes, and sets up for his show at the Hunter’s Moon

Maia fights Jace over the tracking chip maybe around 8:30pm or so?

Maia’s arrested around 9:30pm then (the Inquisitor says she attacked Jace an hour ago)

When she’s arrested, Maia says she was walking home from work

CONTINUITY SNAFU: Yet at midnight, only a couple hours later, she’s back at work, wearing a different outfit

Izzy saves Max, kills the bad guy, reports back to the Institute, changes her clothes, and head out to catch Simon’s show as well

Simon’s show takes place at midnight (end of Tuesday the 4th/beginning of Wednesday the 5th)

2x14 “The Fair Folk” Timeframe: October 9 (morning through evening)

The date for this episode is only a best guess. The dialogue is somewhat misleading when Jace claims Alec has been in charge for a week, because there’s no possible way it can be a full week since 2x13. Best guess is 5 days since 2x13.

The opening scene with Jace at the piano is misleading; Jace is wearing the same clothes that he was in 2x13 when he hooked up with Maia in the alley, and from the dialogue we’re meant to assume he just got back from that hookup, but since he later says Alec has been in charge for a week, he and Maia have hooked up more than once

It’s after sunrise when Alec briefs the Institute and sends Jace and Clary on their mission to the Seelie Court

It’s after sunset when the Downworld cabinet begins, however, as established both by the scene with Luke getting the fire message at the Jade Wolf and by the fact that Raphael is in attendance

2x15 “A Problem of Memory” Timeframe: October 10 (after midnight) to October 11 (2am)

Raphael says in this episode that the bleeder den doesn’t open until midnight, which means the scene where Simon and Quinn go to the bleeder den takes place after midnight, a few hours after the events of 2x14

While it seems unlikely Simon would go out to the Hunters Moon so soon after 2x14, he did just originally intend to get some blood to go, so he was either hungry or intending to drink his sorrows away while moping in private; he didn’t intend to go out and get wild

Alec wakes alone sometime after sunrise

Again, because the bleeder den doesn’t open until midnight, it’s sometime after midnight when Simon confronts Quinn

Magnus tells Alec about his past sometime between midnight and 2am

(POSSIBLE) CONTINUITY SNAFU: While briefing her team earlier, Izzy says Valentine’s transfer is set for 2am, which would be 7am Idris time, but it’s already after sunrise in Idris when they arrive, and sunrise shouldn’t have been until after 7:30am if Idris is in the same time zone as Zürich, Switzerland

2x16 “Day of Atonement” Timeframe: October 12 (morning to evening)

Simon is fasting when Maia comes to visit him, which means it’s October 12, as Yom Kippur began at sunset on October 11

Simon and Maia go to dinner with his family after sunset on the 12th, which means the end of Yom Kippur

All the events of this episode take place from the morning of the 12th to the evening of the 12th

2x17 “A Dark Reflection” Timeframe: October 13 (morning to late night)

Alec tells Max he’s approved to begin going on missions the morning of the 13th

Izzy confronts Alec about Max later that morning

Jonathan attacks Elliot Nourse sometime after sunset (which is 6:17pm on the 13th)

Alec is "a few hours" late for dinner (which was probably scheduled for 6 or 7pm) thus the dinner date scene should probably actually take place around 9-10 pm. However, given how much else happens in this episode and the fact that most of 2x18 takes place before sunrise the next day it makes more sense for the dinner date scene to happen earlier

Magnus confronts Alec about withholding the information about the Soul Sword an hour or two after their dinner date

CONTINUITY SNAFU: According to their website, the last paddleboat rental at Prospect Park goes out two hours before to sunset, which means Simon and Maia are S.O.L. Oops

Max confronts Jonathan in Alec’s office perhaps around 11pm to midnight

2x18 “Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen” Timeframe: October 14 (midnight to after sunrise)

Izzy finds Max unconscious in her room perhaps sometime after midnight

Alec goes to Magnus’s loft to ask for his help before sunrise

Exterior shots establish that Jonathan attacks the Elite Guardsmen in the courtyard right around sunrise

It’s still quite early in the morning when Clary reveals Jonathan and Magnus breaks up with Alec

2x19 “Hail and Farewell” Timeframe: October 14 (morning to evening)

Jonathan has his meltdown while it’s still early morning

Clary, Jace and Izzy find Sebastian Verlac’s body in Jonathan’s apartment perhaps mid-morning

While it doesn’t look like it’s daylight outside Alec’s office when he briefs the Inquisitor about the Mirror, it’s nighttime in Idris, which suggests it must be afternoon in New York

The meeting with the Downworld Council takes place late morning or early afternoon

The lighting when Raphael and Izzy talk suggests it’s getting close to sunset, but there are several more outside scenes that take place in the daylight afterward

It’s just before sunset when Valentine attacks the funeral to make the Forsaken

It’s after sunset when Clary, Izzy, Alec, and Jace track Jonathan to the cemetery and “kill” him

Valentine strikes his deal with the Seelie Queen late that night

2x20 “Beside Still Water” Timeframe: October 15 (sunrise to late night)

This episode begins after sunrise with Jonathan washing up on the beach and opening the rift to Edom

It's just after sunset in Alicante (1pm New York time) when Jace and Clary escape and kill Consul Malachi and his headsman

It’s maybe 2:30-3pm New York time when Valentine summons Raziel

I have my doubts that they’d be able to report to the Inquisitor in Alicante that they killed the Consul and un-summoned the angel and still make it back to New York in time to attend a party that night, HOWEVER the characters in the party clearly state a number of times that it’s still the same day, I so guess they managed it

The Parabatai Oath

Parabatai you either have one or don't. In this case, Eddie Kaspbrak was preparing for his parabatai ceremony with Richie Tozier.  A parabatai is a pair of Nephilim’s who fight together for the rest of their lives and are bound together by an oath no matter their gender.  Their bond is not only reflected by the willingness to lay their lives down for one another but also an oath that is sworn in front of the council.  Not all Shadowhunters are required to have a parabatai, in fact, most do not.   Shadowhunters only have until they are eighteen to find or chose their parabatai.  

Richard Tozier moved in with the Kaspbrak’s when he was nine Him and Edward Kaspbrak the only child became close instantly.   They always trained together, Eddie would help Richie with his aiming and Richie would help Eddie with archery.  

Eddie paced back and forth his hands were sweaty and he was shaking the ceremony was to begin in a few minutes.  Richie came into the training room looking around for his soon to be parabatai and found him sitting in a corner.  “Eds?” He said Eddie cringing at the nickname looking up from his shaky hands.

“Present” Eddie said earning a chuckle from the curly haired boy.  “The ceremony is in a few are you ready? Excited? Nervous?” The boy couldn't calm himself spitting out question after question. “A little bit of everything. I’m going to get ready I’ll see you at the ceremony” Eddie said standing up with a nervous smile Richie nodded waving as his soon to be parabatai walked out of the room.

Both boys stood in the center of the court, hands locked a little above the wrist.  Blue fire formed a circle around the two, soon two more formed to the right and left of the middle circle.  They held eye contact until one started the oath.

“Entreat me not to leave thee, or return from following after thee-” Richie began keeping eye contact with Eddie a few seconds of silence roamed around the two before Eddie continued “For whither thou goest,  and where thou lodgest, I will lodge.” Richie stood still Eddie looked at him confused and worried.

“Thy people shall be my people, and thy God shall be my God”  The boys made eye contact ones again Eddie let out a shaky sigh of relief “Where thou diest,  I will die, and there will I be buried.” The short boy couldn’t help but smile it was a soft and small smile one that Richie couldn’t get enough of it he found comfort in the smaller boys smile.  “The Angle do so to me, and more also if aught but death but death part thee and me.” They said in unison letting go of the others hand a few moments after.

“You’re stuck with me now Eds,” Richie said with a big grin on his face Eddie rolled his eyes as he nodded his head “You are now sadly apart of me until death do us part,” He said in a dramatic tone with a loud sigh.

It’s been a few hours since the ceremony and Eddie stayed sitting alone in his room his hand tracing the rune on his left wrist.  He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding back there was no going back now Richie and him are now bonded until one dies now Eddie would feel what Richie was feeling and now he could feel any pain Richie felt.  He huffed in anger rolling his eyes at his foolish thoughts.

“You can't fall in love with your parabatai.” He whispered to himself.

The Problems with Malec

I decided to make a post solely about the problems Magnus and Alec have in the show that makes them not work as well as they could. Why? Not because I love complaining, but because it’s so important everyone is aware of what is going on. And sadly, what is going on simply isn’t all roses and justified. So let me explain what it is that is making this couple and these two characters not come to their full potential: 

1. Lack of storyline

Both Magnus and Alec are currently suffering from a “What the hell do we do with these characters”. Unlike the core three, there isn’t much book material to go on. Which means the team behind shadowhunters has to come up with a storyline themselves, and apparently that is really hard to do.  Or well, I should say, it’s hard to do properly.  Alec doesn’t really have a storyline of his own this season. Almost everything he does is playing second fidel to someone else’s storyline. He’s either attached to Jace’s his storyline, to Izzy’s storyline or even to Luke’s storyline. But he doesn’t have one of his own. Malec is not his own storyline. You could say him being the head of the Institute is his storyline, but he didn’t get the position as a result of his storyline, he didn’t even get it because he had earned it. And with his new position he hasn’t done anything that didn’t have ties to other things. It’s been connected to Luke’s storyline in which he tried to kill Valentine, and sabotaging Sebastian’s plan. The new role also restricts Alec as a character from having his own storyline or even being involved in other people their storyline. Even Matthew admitted to this. For Alec’s well being as a developing character he shouldn’t be a head for long. Not that he is doing a good job at it, since for the sake of “equality” he spents his nights with Magnus at his home. Which is totally in character, and totally normal to do when you have just been appointed. 

Magnus has his own storyline one would argue. He is dealing with his past and trying to find some sort of balance between being a warlock and dating Alec.  But how much have we seen from that storyline that was actually good storytelling. Everything we saw in S2A was always in connection to someone else and now in S2B Simon his heartbreak get the priority of good proper screentime over a character with severe childhood traumas. In what universe does that even make sense? Yes Simon his heartbreak is understandable, but why introduce such a heavy topic as childhood trauma only to treat it like a secondary issue with a screentime of less than 8 minutes combined with flashback scenes and the “i’m fine moments”.  Though mind you this is not the first time the show has taken a very serious topic only to treat it with the least amount of care in the world, remember Alec’s suicide attempt and the promise we would get back to that since it’s so important. I haven’t seen it anywhere, have you? 

2. Lack of screentime

If you’re not a malec fan or simply don’t care enough about them to want equality for them, the go to comment is; “this show is not about Malec”. Granted you got me there. But that doesn’t justify the lack of screentime. Now Todd has planned himself in the corner that tough choices have to be made:

They only have so much minutes bla bla bla, BULLSHIT. Todd simply has different priorities. Every ep in S2B has started with “My name Clary Fray”- 

Let’s be real, that is atleast a good minute of airtime that gets spend on shit the episode doesn’t need. Not to even mention the unneccessary scenes, such as Jace making out with Kaelie in the bed half naked (precious golden scene? Sure Jan). He can’t say he believes screentime should go to Clary, Simon and Jace even if the episode could easily miss the scene since it adds nothing, so the answer is even golden scenes have to be cut. Don’t get mad please, it’s a hard job.... Ehum NO, it really really isn’t. It’s about pacing, which sucks in this show, it’s about priorities which in this show don’t focus on Magnus, Alec, Luke or the rest. It’s about not adding more characters to an all ready full show.  They make the weirdest choices when it comes to malec, the scenes are short even when the moments are important, because everything else is apparently more important, hey not my words anymore, they are officially Todd’s now.  

3. The equality issue

I guess this is more personal. As a proud member of the lgbtq community, to me equality is absolute. I know what shows look like that give it to their viewers and thus i know Shadowhunters isn’t one of these shows. Arguments like “but they have more than in the bookserie, so stop talking”, are annoying as hell and not even correct. (Which you can read here) Arguments like “this isn’t the malec show” are fucking rude. Equality has nothing to do with turning Shadowhunters into the Malec show. If you believe this to be case, then you are not an ally and are (sub)conciously homophobic. Some lgbtq+ people even believe this to be true and honey, sorry to tell you but that is some internalised homophobia you’ve got going on there.  Equality simply means an equal treatment. Not give them 50% of the show’s time and Clace the other 50% cause well, there is also Izzy, Simon, Luke and Maia. This is not about some weird ass division of time. It’s about the Quality of the time they getting and the imbalance compared to the heterosexual pairings. 

The fade into black from 2x07 was homophobic as fuck. Malec not getting their first time shown, no intimate scenes. No real, well-written conversations. All of that adds up to this unequal treatment the couple gets, I’m not counting the stray scene they actual do right like the balcony scene in 1x06. Why does Magnus love Alec? I don’t know. Why do I not know this? Because the show never bothered to explain it to me, to show it to me. Why does Alec love Magnus? I don’t know. Because he was the first guy to notice him, but surely there is more to it. I’m just not sure what that more is. Why? They don’t bother to show me.  It is these small things that make the show fail epicly when it comes to Malec.  Most of the fandom is happy when they get one minute, because we have successfully been brainwashed into thinking that is what this couple deserves and that this is what we should be grateful for.  Everyone is over the moon with the morning scene in 2x15 in spite of the body language that shows discomfort, in spite of the OOC behaviour of Alec; this is not something the new head of the institute should do and definitely Alec, sorry. They are catering to you, with the bare minimum because well, you will accept it, praise it, maybe complain but hey we’ll watch again next week, cause TODD keeps making promises it will be better. Will it though? No really? Cause if you keep watching, you keep defending the show, you keep having a whiplash from going between “OMG I CAN’T EVEN” to “WHAT IS THIS SHIT”  why do they have to change how they treat Malec. Equality is a serious issue, but an issue this show doesn’t take seriously. And apart from a tweet, nothing indicates this will change in the future.

4. Lies from TPTB

If there is one thing I’m not fond of it’s lying Showrunners and boy does Todd have a track record in that. Just have a look at the first round of interviews they did. Remember how they agreed with the fandom that Malec went too fast in S1, that they needed to pull it back, because why the hell did they even like each other...... Well here we are Ep 15 and they’ve had sex and we’ve had an I love you, three even. If anything the new showrunners are going even faster. Much of what they promised to do with Malec, flew out of the window somehow the moment they started writing. Why? God knows why, I guess. Some people think they want to establish the couple as fast a possible, so as little as possible screentime has to be spent on them and they can still say, but hey look at this couple and the progressiveness, they are the OTP of this show, never will they break up. Stop complaining about the screentime and just appreciate that they are still together and going strong, here have another I love you, now shut up. I’m not part of that team, but I also don’t see enough evidence suggesting they are completely off. In fact the willingness of the team to have Malec adopt Madzie actually proves these fans might have a point. If only the lies had stopped there, but then there was the MalecMania. Oh Boy was the fandom hyped and with good reasons and Oh Boy was it a big let down to the point the fandom roared with anger. Then he promised he would work on it, this was during the filming of 2x13/2x14. Not all scripts had been written yet and they definitely weren’t filmed yet.

So why is he tweeting that he’s working on it now not three weeks ago. Don’t you mean you worked on it, keep a look out for this improvement? That is what you promised in the first place. But now this promise seems to have been moved to S3. And when S3A doesn’t deliver will he move the promise to S3B? He is a master at baiting the fans with Malec and for some reason the fans seem to not comprehend that they are being baited. So he can problably move it forever and nobody would object, cause he promises too change people! Give the show the benefit of the doubt.... Okay? But seriously for how long?! And how many lies does he have to tell before he loose his credibility. Mind you a lot of tweets ended up being deleted from his timeline as well, things spoken without thought and no intention to realise these comments.

What needs to change in my opinion?

First of All, Malec needs to take a step back. Breath, take things slow. Realise they know very little about each other and that they are going way too fast. Alec needs to give his position to someone else, I love Alec as the head of institute, but I don’t want him to be restricted by it. He can always earn it fairly around S7. I personally think Alec would prefer that too. That he is the head of the institute or hell even inquistitor because he was chosen to be by his people, not by Jace because the latter isn’t one for following the rules. Show us just how special and good Alec is, don’t have others tell us. Cause you haven’t shown Alec to be a great leader, you’ve shown the exact opposite before appointing him this position. Even Alec has his doubts, which he really shouldn’t have if he was sure of his position. 

Magnus needs a different role. Whatever he is currently, it’s not working as it give the character very little meat and no connection to the rest of the characters, thus isolating him. Especially if his current problems/storylines are treated as secondary. The show needs to address serious issues with the gentle care they deserve instead of using them for drama plotdevices. Alec’s suicide was a big thing, but thrown aside just as easily. Magnus his traumas are also pushed aside somewhat for storylines that require less screentime and care but are given double of it. Even Izzy who tried to kill her brother hasn’t really dealt with what drove her. The show touches on a lot of things with the other characters only to never really expand on it, for the sake of drama. And it needs to stop doing that. 

The show needs to start showing things instead of telling me things. I don’t want to hear Izzy went to meetings, I want to see her there, so I can hear why she felt the need to take Yin Fen and I can see her struggle.The same goes for Alec and Magnus, a lot is told but never shown. I’m tired of hearing about it, I want to see it. If I have to see every single thing about Clary, Simon and Jace, why can I not see these important moments from the other main characters. Especially if they are so linked to the storylines they are suppossedly telling us. 

The last comment also would increase the quality of their storylines, and thus create a more equal feel to it. But Equality needs to happen. For a show that won the Glaad award, it saddens me to say, they did not deserve it. Compared to their competition the show underdelivers and I think the show should become one worthy of that award.
