Shoto Todoroki had always been the calm, collected type. His demeanor rarely cracked, and he was known for his cool head in stressful situations. So when he suggested baking cookies together, you were pleasantly surprised. You knew he liked cooking, but baking was a whole new territory.
"My, My. Who knew you’d be the one asking to bake instead of me." you teased, a playful glint in your eyes. Eyeing the array of ingredients spread out on the counter. Flour, sugar, chocolate chips, eggs, and butter—all waiting to be turned into delicious cookies.
A small smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. "I thought it would be fun."
You grinned, feeling a warm flutter in your chest. "Alright then, let's get started."
Shoto's movements were precise and methodical, a reflection of his disciplined nature. You watched him measure out the flour, his focus intense and his expression soft.
"How's it going over there?" you asked, glancing at Shoto as you mixed the butter and sugar together.
"Good. Almost done with the dry ingredients," he replied, his eyes meeting yours with a rare spark of warmth.
As you combined the ingredients, your hands brushed against his, sending a small thrill through you. You couldn't help but smile at the way he seemed so concentrated on such a simple task.
"Should we add the chocolate chips now?" he asked, breaking you out of your reverie.
"Yeah, can i maybe do it?" you asked, Shoto simply nodded as he watched you poured in way too many chocolate chips into the dough.
“Are you sure that isn’t too much?”
“Too many chocolate chips doesnt exist!” You declared with an evil glint in your eyes. He sweat dropped before shaking his head lightly, glancing at you as the corners of his lips moved up, suppressing a smile.
You both took turns stirring, and you couldn't resist the urge to be a bit playful. "You're pretty good at this, Todoroki. Are you sure you haven't been secretly practicing?"
He raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Maybe. Or I’m just good at anything when you’re with me." He shrugged.
"Flattery will get you everywhere," you teased, nudging him gently with your elbow.
As the cookies baked in the oven, you both leaned against the counter, enjoying the warm, sweet aroma filling the kitchen. Shoto's usually stoic expression had softened, and you couldn't help but feel a surge of affection for him.
"Shoto," you said softly, "this was a really great idea."
He turned to you, his expression gentle. "I'm glad you think so. I enjoyed it too."
You leaned in, brushing a light kiss against his cheek. "Next time, let's try making something even more challenging. Like a cake."
He smirked, a rare playful glint in his eyes. "You're on."
As you waited for the cookies to finish baking, you couldn't resist teasing him a little more. "You know, for someone so serious, you’re pretty cute when you're concentrating."
His cheeks tinged with the slightest hint of pink, and he looked at you with a mix of embarrassment and affection. "And you're insufferable when you're teasing," he said, his tone light.
"Admit it, you love it," you said, leaning closer to him, your voice barely above a whisper.
He sighed, a soft smile playing on his lips. "Maybe I do," he murmured, his voice low.
Before you could tease him further, Shoto leaned in and pressed his lips softly against yours, silencing you in the most pleasant way possible. The kiss was gentle, his lips warm and sweet, just like the cookies you were baking. When he pulled back, his eyes were filled with a warmth that made your heart melt.
"You're impossible," he said quietly, but there was no mistaking the affection in his voice.
"And you love that too," you replied, your smile matching his.
As the timer beeped, signaling that the cookies were ready, you couldn't help but feel grateful for these quiet, happy moments with him. They were the little things that made everything worthwhile.

You always enjoyed baking. It gave you something to do with your hands and the hobby was both simple and challenging. It required focus for measuring and following directions, but you also had fun with your creations. It seemed to be one of the only ways you could express yourself now, which clouded your feelings when you focused too much on it.
I will not feel sorry for myself. I have a good life. The best life.
Being the wife of Steve Rogers was a dream come true. The man was handsome, loving, a hero. The all American dream wrapped up in the perfect package. He worked hard to provide you both with a lovely home and didn't ask for much in return. Only that you follow his orders and be dutiful.
A good wife obeys her husband.
You idly wiped down the counter as you waited for the oven timer to go off, glancing at one of the photos Steve placed near the window. While he smiled from ear-to-ear, yours was a little more reserved. He loved drawing and taking photos of you, but there weren’t any photos of the two of you before you moved to The Haven. They were somehow lost in the move.
Not that I remember packing any of my stuff, but my old place doesn’t matter, does it?
The sound of Steve’s motorcycle pulling into the garage pulled you from your distracted thoughts. He normally called if he was going to come home early. The sound of the door would indicate if he was back for a good or bad reason. Either way, he’d take his mood out on your body. You had to look presentable.
A good wife lives to please her husband.
You threw your apron off and rushed to your room to put on the cherry scented perfume he liked. He enjoyed it because it was seductive and sensual, sweet and tart, good enough to eat. As if on autopilot, you applied it to the same four spots: behind your ear, at the base of your neck, your wrist, and behind your knee. You retouched your lips next, staring at the tube of lipstick once you finished. It wasn't a color you wore until you moved in with him.
Steve picked it because he knows best.
When you looked at your beautiful reflection in the mirror, the urge to smash it began to surface. A flickering flame grew within you, threatening to spread like wildfire as you dropped the lipstick into the sink. There was nothing wrong with looking pretty for your husband. You just wished the person staring back at you was one you recognized.
I’m Cherry. I’m Mrs. Steve Rogers. I’m happy.
“Sweetheart?” Steve called to you before he gently shut the door. He was in a good mood at least. “Mmm. Something smells delicious.”
You straightened your dress and brushed off any negativity that bubbled under your skin as you went to greet him. Not a single blonde hair of his was out of place as he took in the sight of you. The need to impress him took over your thoughts. “Hi. Cookies are almost done,” you said, pressing your red lips to his cheek. “I didn’t expect you to come home so soon.”
“Maybe I just wanted to see my beautiful wife,” he asked as he slipped off his shoes and guided you toward the kitchen. Any excuse to touch you, he did. “Why? Are you not happy to see me?”
“I’m always happy to see you,” you said as you grabbed an oven mitt. The timer went off a second later and his eyes didn’t leave you as you carefully took the sheet out. “I just wanted to make sure everything’s okay.”
“Everything’s great,” he said, inspecting the cookies as you set them on the stove. You knew it was a wonderful batch without tasting them. The perfect man, he expected perfection in every extension of him. Which is why you didn’t make mistakes with any of your baking or cooking. "I have the best news.”
"Oh? What is it?" you asked curiously.
"Bucky’s married!" he said, taking you by the waist to twirl you around. “Can you believe it?”
"Married?" you repeated, not as happy as your husband. The news should’ve excited you since Bucky was his best friend, but it confused you. "I didn't know he was seeing anyone."
"No? I swore I told you he had his eye on someone,” he said with a condescending chuckle. “Makes me think you don’t pay attention when I speak to you, but that can’t be it, right?”
You went rigid in his grasp when he smiled. It reminded you of a demon, the shades of red and darkness showing in his eyes and perfect row of teeth. “It must’ve slipped my mind. Silly me,” you tried to giggle.
Like so many other things.
You didn’t relax until he kissed the corner of your mouth. “Because you’re so busy taking care of me, which I appreciate,” he praised you, his smile softer. Kinder. “And it’s better most days when I do the thinking for you.”
You bit your tongue so hard you almost drew blood, wanting to say that you were more than just a pretty face. The words didn’t come though. “You know best, Steve” you said as you plastered a smile on your face, your voice somewhat hollow after his insult. “And I love taking care of you.”
If he noticed your lack of enthusiasm, he didn’t say so. “Back to the good news,” he said, swaying with you even though there was no music. “It was a quick engagement and they didn’t want to wait. I wish I could’ve been at the ceremony, but I had that mission and I don’t blame him one bit for not waiting.”
“I’m sure he would’ve loved for you to be his best man.”
“He would’ve, but I'm happy that he’s happy. When you know, you know,” he said, tapping the tip of your nose. “Like the moment I met you. I knew you were going to be my wife."
Your smile faltered a little. It was difficult some days to remember just how you two came to be Mr. and Mrs. Rogers. You knew you loved him, but the actual process of falling for him? The build up of the relationship? It was like there was a chapter missing.
The past is the past and I have everything I need in the present.
Steve looked at you expectantly as you blinked. You needed to focus. “Just like I knew you’d be my husband.”
He hummed, seemingly pleased with your response. "We're going to meet her soon. Will you do me a favor, please? Make her feel welcome?" He suggested, but it was more like a command. He sometimes liked to phrase things in ways that made it sound as if you had a say in the matter, but his word was law. “Bucky’s my best friend and I want you two to be best friends.”
"Of course. It’ll be nice to have a new friend.”
“And once she’s settled in, I know they’re going to start trying for a family,” he went on, placing his hand on your stomach. “Which means we can try, too. Our kids can grow up together, the way Bucky and I did. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?”
Steve would be the best father. He deserves a family. So does Bucky.
“So wonderful,” you whispered, afraid you’d cry if you raised your voice. You wish you knew why the thought of having children with the man you loved scared you.
“Maybe we can start practicing,” he said, his voice huskier as he gripped your hips. “A bit of dessert before dinner.”
You didn’t protest as he backed you against the counter. Your body would welcome him home the way it always did. He’d please you as you pleased him.
“And Cherry?”
“Yes, Steve?” you asked as he dipped his head to inhale your perfume.
“Make a cherry pie for me to send to Bucky’s house. I don’t think he plans on leaving anytime soon and he isn’t letting his wife leave the bed. We can’t let them go hungry now, can we?”
“No, we can’t,” you replied, closing your eyes as he pushed your dress up.
“That’s my good girl,” he whispered.
Happy husband. Happy wife. Happy life.

You don’t like to think of yourself as sweaty, you’re glistening. You keep a light jog, just enough to get your heart pumping. And bouncing. Your sports bra is less than secure but you don’t mind.
Running’s another new hobby. It’s a reason to get out of the house when your dad’s being a drag. And a reason to scope out the neighbour. As you turn the corner onto your street, you slow down, coming in sight of Bucky’s yard. Disappointment washes over you as you get closer. He’s usually out by now.
“Goddammnit,” you hear him curse as he appears from beside the house, his tee shirt soaked in water, “fucking hose.”
You stop by the fence and watch him strip away the drenched shirt. He tosses it in anger, his muscles rippling under his skin, and scowls as his hands frame his wide hips. You gulp as your mouth dries out. Wowee.
He looks over as you hover near his gate. You cough and shake your head, “everything alright, Mr. Barnes?” You ask, keeping your voice perky.
“Uh, yeah,” he shakes his head slightly, “yeah, just damn thing split.”
He huffs and closes his eyes, tilting his head up to the shining sun. It’s almost as if he’s trying to match you, tempting you to do something. Your cheeks burn from more than the summer heat. You hum in sympathy.
“Oh, that’s too bad. Well, I’m sure if you really need a hose, you could stretch ours over the fence.”
“Yeah, your dad wouldn’t have an aneurysm?” He scoffs and opens his eyes, narrow those baby blues in your direction.
You step back on your heel and shrug, shuffling your feet as you run in place, “I don’t know, Mr. Barnes. Just being nice.” You turn and keep bouncing looking ahead, “gotta finish my run.”
“It’s Bucky,” he calls after you as your soles pound the sidewalk. You puff out, smiling. Bucky.
You circle the block again and come up once more to your neighbour’s walk. Again, you keep a look out for him. There’s another car in the lot. You recognise it. His annoying friend is there. The one who used to tease you about your school uniform.
You roll your eyes and turn your sights forward, only to collide with someone else. Just the person you were dreading. You stutter step back, panting heavily, chest rising and falling heavily. You don’t miss how the man’s eyes peek down before meeting your own. You don’t mind being on display, just not for him.
“Oh, hi, Mr. Wilson,” you cross your arms and he clears his throat. Ugh, gross. You drop your arms, “sorry, I wasn’t paying attention.”
“That’s just fine, sugar,” he smirks, “don’t mind running into a pretty girl like you.”
Ew. You could barf. It takes all your manners not to gag at him.
“Right, um, well, I should just--”
“Hey, Sam,” Bucky’s voice draws your attention from your half-baked excuse, “Corona okay? I don’t got any Heineken right now.”
“Corona? What are you? A coed? Why don’t you toss it to this little beam of sunshine?” He nudges you and you inch away.
“I got a free case. You really gonna be picky,” Bucky challenges as he comes up to the fence and holds the beer over it. “She’s too young.”
“I drink,” you lie. To be honest, you don’t. You tried a single vodka and orange soda in high school and vomited in your shoe. “You know, college.”
“Yeah, college,” Sam winks at you, “she’s really grown up, Buck.”
You glance over as his brows raise coyly and he glances over at you, the tip of his tongue poking out. You flutter your lashes and refocus on Bucky. You shrug.
“Obviously, I’m just playing around. I’m a good girl, Mr. Barnes,” you smile.
Sam purrs, just loud enough for you to hear. You repress the furrow that threatens to wrinkle your nose. You have to stay pretty for Bucky.
“I’m just fine. Dad’s got some Bud in the garage.”
“Bud, huh, you like toilet water?” Sam chides.
Your lips draw tight and you spin on your heel, “anyways, I’m going to go stretch.”
You skip down the sidewalk and through your own gate. You hear Sam chuckle, “you doing it out here, sugar? Where we can see? You know, I got a bad back, could use a few pointers.”
You just shake your head as you wave dismissively and head inside. He has to ruin everything. You don’t get why Bucky is friends with him. They have their little poker nights and all you ever hear in exchange are snipes. Do they even like each other?
You enter the house and fill a large glass of water from the fridge filter. You gulp it down, parched from more than your run. Mm, just the thought of Bucky with his shirt off, the little coils of gray hair, and the way his muscles were just perfectly lined with that extra later of pudge. The kind a man ages into.
“There you are,” your dad appears as if out of thin air, “what the hell are you wearing?”
“Love you too,” you face him as you put the glass down.
“Were you outside like that?”
You look down at your bicycle shorts and bra.
“I was exercising,” you snip.
“You can wear a shirt next time,” he sneers. “You’re supposed to clean the pool.”
“I got time,” you argue.
He sighs as he opens the fridge. He takes out his carton of egg whites and plops it down on the counter. He takes out turkey bacon as well. He swings the door shut and turns, silent as he readies his late breakfast.
“What are you talking to Barnes for?” He asks curtly as he puts a pan on the stove. You grab your glass again.
“Was being friendly, that’s all,” your heart deflates. Fun’s over.
“Mm, and he’s friendly? He knows how to be?”
“Ugh, whatever’s between you has nothing to do with me,” you rebuff, “he’s nice.”
“Sure,” he sniffs doubtfully, “he’s a bitter old bastard.”
You’re one to talk. You don’t put the quip to voice, instead draining what’s left of the water. You turn and rinse the glass and put it in the dishwasher.
“If I clean the pool, can Shelby come over?”
“Shelby? What, so you can blast those video games again?”
“No, so we can swim,” you say. “Duh.”
“Duh,” he mimics in a whiny voice. “Don’t talk to me like that.”
“Well, can I? Please?” You soften your tone, “I’m so bored.”
“Mm, fine. No more wet towels on the lawn though.”
“Yes, sir, will do, sir.”
“And cut the attitude,” he warns as he peels bacon strips from the package, “and put a shirt on.”
You spin and stomp away. You take your slides from the front mat and carry them to the back door. You’re not putting a shirt on, you’re going to be cleaning the pool. There’s no point in that.
You go out and grab the net, extending it long. You lazily skim the water. It doesn’t really need a cleaning. It’s still sparkling and clear.
As you stare into the blue depths, the shadow of the leaves above rustle over you. You glance up and over to the disturbance. You see a head poking over the top and nearly shriek. It’s Sam, watching you.
“Ew, what are you doing, perv?” You accuse.
“There’s tree rot up here,” he points to the trunk, “told Buck I’d take care of it. Let his old knees have a rest.”
You frown and turn back to the pool. You know he’s watching you. You feel the weight of his gaze. The same sensation you long for when you pass by Bucky.
“And the view is nice,” he slithers, “you might wanna reach a bit... right there. Little leaf,” he points over the fence, “bend just a little bit, sugar. Arch that back.”
You can’t believe what he’s saying. You retract the pole and turn to scowl at him, “you’re gross.”
“Ah, come on, don’t act so innocent with me? What happened to the plaid skirt and those cute little stockings?”
You glare at him, “I’m an adult.”
“Sure are,” he agrees.
“What do you want?” You snarl, “I’m busy.”
He grins and leans on the fence. He tilts his head and bats his lashes, “’oh, Mr. Barnes, I’m a good girl. I would never drink your beer. But yes, I’ll sit in your lap, show you what a good girl does’,” he mocks as he pretends to fix hair longer than his trimmed style.
“Well, happy to see one of us is grown,” you retort.
“Ah, sugar, you can’t deny it. I see right through you. You weren’t wagging that ass for me but you will,” he eyes you up and down and licks his lips, “you want a bite of Bucky, I can get you it. There’s just one catch,” he pulls back slightly and looks down, “and it’s hard and throbbing.”
You’re stunned. Speechless. Blistering at being caught in your pathetic flirtations but worse, being called out so crassly.
You recoil and turn back to the pool. You’re not really considering his offer. As much as you dream about Bucky, and touch yourself, and cum about him, it’s just no, you can’t. It’s a fantasy, nothing else. That’s all it can be.
Besides, you wouldn’t know what to do. It’s all so much easier in your head.
“That’s okay, you take your time,” he slaps the fence, “I got work to do. But first,” he puts an arm over the wood, “think I’ll watch you do yours.”

NOT A WEIRDO STALKER.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PART 5. a stalker or irresistible? [the end]
PAIRING. blade x f!reader
SUMMARY. modern au. you’re minding your own business as a research assistant and college student just trying to vibe. blade is a new team member who is somehow convinced you are trying to stalk him after all your chance encounters together. so maybe he’s a little obsessed with himself, but you find it cute anyway.
NOTE. final part!! a very short and sweet smau and it was a fun little way to explore this very chaotic story with blade :3 hehe i really enjoyed this whirlwind of a mini series and thank u all for reading!! i miss blade already t.t so def expect some more for him soon xx sof
Tumblr media
“Have you decided what to watch yet?”
A deep voice that sounded almost hoarse from having just woken up made you lift your head from your phone. Your new teammate and friend sat beside you on the sofa, a safe enough distance away so that you couldn’t accidentally make contact with him without meaning to. Even though Blade was sitting, his presence still took up the whole room. With his long dark hair and piercing red eyes, he was someone you couldn’t miss.
There was no doubt in your mind he could fend off whatever was at your door. Even if it was the biggest of stray cats.
You nodded. “I’ll go with what Dan Heng suggested! Great British Bake Off.”
Blade folded his arms over his chest. A look of annoyance crossed his face as he huffed. His eyes were narrowed and his lips were downturned, almost looking like a pout. “Why Dan Heng?”
You tilted your head sideways. “Because he was the only one who answered the poll…”
“I answered.”
“With a show that wasn’t an option to begin with!” you laughed, lightly nudging his arm with your elbow. “That basically doesn’t count as a vote.”
“Wow.” He rolled his eyes but his stance softened at the brief contact. Blade unfolded his arms with a sigh, leaning back on your sofa and putting his right arm across the head rest. “Very politician of you.”
You crinkled your nose. “Fine, we can watch The 100 another time. When it’s not five in the morning and pitch black and scary.”
“So there’ll be another time?” he mused.
You felt your cheeks heat up as he looked at you, his stare unwavering. Was that too presumptuous of you?
Blade basked in your silence. He was in his element. With his arms outstretched and his legs wide, he manspread on your couch, his knee softly pressing against your thigh. It was warm on your bare skin, even through his sweatpants. You never liked manspreading. You always thought it was rather rude. But why did it look so attractive when Blade did it?
“There doesn’t have to be another if you don’t want,” you said with a huff, unsure if he was teasing you or if the prospect of movie nights was really something he wasn’t very keen on. You hoped it was the former.
“Let’s see how tonight goes first.” Blade looked mischievous, a challenging smirk on his face as he gestured you closer. You moved so that you were leaning back on his arm. “Not that there’s anything you could do that would make me not want more.”
“Oh really?” you said, amused. “From claiming I’m a weirdo stalker to finding me that irresistible?” You paused. “Why were you so sure I was one anyway?”
“A stalker or irresistible?”
“You know what I meant,” you laughed, pleased he didn’t shoot down your flirting like you thought he would.
He shrugged, tapping his foot against the floor. “Well, I just started noticing you around everywhere the past few months when I’ve never even seen you before. In the same classes as me, same apartment, same lab…”
“That does tend to happen when we’re both in the same major living in the same complex,” you said matter-of-factly. “The lab though— I’ve been in that since my second year. You just joined now. So you were the stalker in that scenario!”
Blade rolled his eyes. “Then you get my number and ask me to dinner…”
“I told you already! I saved everyone’s number not just yours!” You were exasperated, cheeks puffing up as you defended yourself. “And the dinner thing really was just me trying to show my gratitude—”
He held his hand up, a quiet chuckle escaping his lips. “I’m only joking now. You don’t need to explain yourself. I get you weren’t secretly obsessed with me.”
You were more amused that he ever thought that instead of genuinely offended, but it still felt nice to have that cleared up. “Good.”
“Maybe now I wish you were though,” Blade whispered under his breath, surprising you. But you didn’t let your momentary shock allow Blade to take control of the entire situation. You wanted to contribute to it as well.
You threw his earlier words back at him, eyes crinkling into a smile. “We’ll have to see how tonight goes first.”
He nodded, pleased with your response. “We got a lot riding on tonight then, huh?”
“It seems so.”
“Then let’s make it count.”

SOOBIN: “It’s always been my goal for the other members to be happy”
Tumblr media
TOMORROW X TOGETHER The Name Chapter: FREEFALL comeback interview
2023.10.23
SOOBIN, as always, speaks in a calm voice throughout. Whether he’s talking about the happiness that surrounds him, the challenges he faces, the pleasures of everyday life, or the major goals that guide the group, his voice is resolute but relaxed—spirited, but soft.
You kept talking about how you want to watch the new movie Concrete Utopia.
SOOBIN: I never ended up seeing it. It left theaters. (laughs) If someone in my friends’ group chat says, “There’s a movie I want to see,” then someone else asks who can go, and then anyone who can goes to see it. I’m really thankful to have friends who will come with me to see the movies I want to watch.
You took a trip with them recently, isn’t that right?
SOOBIN: I took an overnight trip with them to Gapyeong not that long ago. We had a cooking competition, then they asked me to teach them the dance for “Sugar Rush Ride.” So I showed them and then they spontaneously held a competition and asked me to be the judge. It was really fun and super cute. (laughs)
It sounds like your friends are very important to you.
SOOBIN: It’s fair to say they know me really well. They really love me and look out for me. Usually when they say something like, “Choi Soobin’s eating only this much? Something wrong?”—there really is something wrong. These days they’re so good at seeing through me. It’s almost annoying. (laughs) And if any of us goes too far, we apologize on the spot. And after we take a trip, we even say, I had such a great time thanks to you guys. You really made me happy. It’s always like that. I get carried away in that kind of environment which lets me say embarrassing things, and even though we bicker sometimes, it leads to self-improvement. I guess you could say I’ve become a kinder person overall and I’m capable of being a lot more open now. I really learned how to express myself.
I imagine that you get a lot of energy out of that whole process.
SOOBIN: I started going out way more this year. I was having a lot of personal doubts and feeling confused last year, so it wasn’t an easy time. So I went around looking for help, talked a lot to more experienced artists, and got some advice. I ended up getting really close to a lot of people. After that, I had more reasons to go out. It’s a refreshing change of pace from the same routine every day, so I really need that time these days.
Tumblr media
How did you feel during the world tour? Judging by your vlogs from that time, it looks like you established your own little routine for after each concert.
SOOBIN: You hear from a lot of different artists that they sometimes feel empty when they get in after a concert. But not me. (laughs) After seeing all those people in big crowds, coming back, and having some alone time, it’s—I mean, that’s a really full day. I think it’s important to have time to be alone and reflect, and to enjoy your hobbies. I don’t really feel like I need to follow up something as special as a concert with something else exciting. I actually feel more comfortable just spending each day the way I’m used to spending it.
I’m surprised you cherish what’s already comfortable to you so much when you also want to try so many new activities.
SOOBIN: I guess you could say I have a personality like a flame. There’s so many things I want to do, but I also get tired of them pretty quickly. For a while I was learning swimming and boxing, then I had an interest in baking and thought about buying an oven, but I was over it quickly. I also bought a camera and then, after a month, never touched it again. (laughs) Anyway, I’m the kind of person who pretty much goes ahead and does things as soon as I want to do them. I never hesitate to start something and I’ll even skip sleep when I want to try something. I can’t stand when I don’t have a hobby to do. It’s tough for me if I can’t have a good time and break out of my routine with something new. I guess that explains my personality where I have to do whatever I want. I’m the kind of person who tries to enjoy what he wants when I want to because I never know when I might lose interest.
But you have far more endurance doing what you do than other people.
SOOBIN: I don’t think I could’ve put this much into any job other than this one. I can already see myself living a lazy life when I’m much older and retired (laughs) so I want to do everything I can while I can. There’s a lot of people who work to make us shine, especially in a line of work like this, so there’s no way I could just phone it in when they’re putting their all into it.
Tumblr media
You must have devoted a lot of time and effort toward getting ready for this comeback. You mentioned several times on Weverse Live how excited you are for the new album.
SOOBIN: It’s about embracing and pushing your way through the pain and the hard times you come up against in the real world, so I felt like it’s something I can comprehend and express well. I was actually worried about the last album because I was nervous I wouldn’t be able to pull off the concept of the album, and that’s why I didn’t feel very confident. But the songs are a little bit more of an “easy listening” songs this time and the choreography’s fun, so I’m more confident this time. At first I thought the single “Chasing That Feeling” was basic, but after listening to it four or five times, I realized how catchy it was and started humming it to myself. It felt like the kind of song you’d never skip over in a playlist and one you can keep listening to over and over.
You also mentioned that the dance moves for “Chasing That Feeling” are more physically demanding than those for “Back for More” (TXT Ver.).
SOOBIN: Everyone would assume that “Back for More (TXT Ver.)” is more tough when you see it, but for me, “Chasing That Feeling” is actually more physically demanding. But I still love the choreography. I had so much fun with it when first learning it and I was full of excitement while dancing, but the dance coaches told me, “SOOBIN, you have to do this one with more tenderness. You’re too hyper right now. You need to tone down your emotions.” (laughs) We stretch our arms out really, really wide in the intro and do moves we’ve never done before, but it was a really good match for me and I had a lot of fun. I think the dance really captures that idea of following your passions and always pressing forward even when it’s sort of painful. I got to like the song more while practicing the choreography.
You said on Weverse Live that you have a favorite track off this album. Can you tell us which it is?
SOOBIN: It’s “Skipping Stones.” Singer-songwriter HANRORO wrote it, and I’m a big fan of her music. The song she gave us is so characteristic of her sound that it feels like a song she would’ve written for herself. I fell in love with it the very first time I heard it. It was fun getting to record a song of a style I listen to and sing all the time, which made the process laid-back. I like HANRORO’s music and voice, but I think it’s her all-Korean lyrics that are really beautiful. “The water that swallowed the scars will become calm someday / And it will have a wide embrace.” Time heals all wounds and I was so amazed how she managed to tie that in with the idea of skipping stones. It made me respect her even more.
Tumblr media
You wrapped up your second world tour a little bit before the album came out. Did you enjoy yourself on tour? It seemed like you had a lot on your mind while trying to enjoy yourself on stage before that.
SOOBIN: I started to feel less nervous doing the world tour. Now I’m not even scared or nervous before a concert—I’m just excited. I think I’m more comfortable with it because I feel relaxed now. I’m still not totally loosened up, obviously (laughs) but I can’t force myself to be comfortable with everything. I’ll probably have to wait a little longer for that.
During the world tour, you also put on performances at major venues like Lollapalooza in Chicago and the MTV Video Music Awards.
SOOBIN: I was nervous for the VMAs for sure but it was still fun because there were a lot of people who have been superstars to me ever since I was young and it was amazing to see people with MOA light sticks even though it was an overseas awards show. It was so fun that I felt like I was dreaming. It was like, Am I even supposed to be here? I was extremely fortunate to be able to meet people like Bebe Rexha who were a major motivator for me. Moments like those feel like rewards for all the hard work I’ve put in and they’re a huge motivation. I’m very thankful and lucky.
It’s like you take that motivation and work hard to pay it forward to MOA.
SOOBIN: It’s even hard for me to grasp, for someone who used to be a fan myself. To me, it even feels like what fans are giving is just “pure love.” I was so amazed that they’re willing to come such a long distance for our concerts and you can see fans giving things to each other just because they all share a common interest. It’s not like the love between friends or between a couple—it’s something completely special that can’t ever be explained. I’ve been a fan before, too, but speaking as a singer, “the existence of fans is just pure love.” It’s amazing how unconditional their love can be.
It’s clear how much you love the fans when you talk to them on Weverse Live about somewhat sensitive subjects in a firm but kind manner.
SOOBIN: This is how I feel: Let’s all be gentle and share the love. That way, I can be closer with them and no one will be crossing any boundaries of what is acceptable. The reason I say that is, I’m trying to make it so that MOA and I can love each other more and without having to hold anything back. Sometimes I can ignore the uncomfortable stuff and just move on, but the reason I brought that up is because I wanted to make sure we don’t make each other feel uncomfortable and there’s no hard feelings. My point was to say, Let’s make sure we all feel comfortable, and let’s look out for one another and have nothing but love for each other. I try to be as gentle as possible when I say these things, of course.
Tumblr media
You also referred to the other group members as “companions” last year in the video TXT Share House.
SOOBIN: We all went through a rough patch at one point last year together. I felt our companionship was particularly strong while we practiced for the year-end awards shows. We were having a lot of honest conversations about our innermost feelings. We weren’t in Korea that much at the time, so I think we relied on each other a lot.
I was surprised when I found out you get a bigger room during world tours because other members come see you. I thought you would want to have your own space.
SOOBIN: I’m not really bothered by them coming in. We each have our own rooms, but I’m actually thankful and feel good that they come to my room to talk to me because it makes me feel like they trust me and rely on me. And I get more excited and talkative than they do when they come in. (laughs) I’m happy when they come in and I always hope they do.
What do you tend to talk about in that situation?
SOOBIN: They mostly come to me when they’re facing some kind of difficulty, whether it’s personal or something related to the group, or when they just want to talk. And I’m usually the one who goes to the label as our representative when we want to propose an idea to them. But there were a lot of times on the most recent world tour where they came to me saying they wanted to hear what I had to say. “How are you feeling about the tour? No problems?” Stuff like that. I actually tend to keep any baggage to myself if sharing it isn’t going to solve anything. Sometimes the other members feel hurt by that though. (laughs) But I still usually unload when it’s something that can be solved together, of course. It’s not like I don’t like to talk. (laughs)
Tumblr media
When YEONJUN and TAEHYUN were on SUCHWITA, they said that all the members agreed on one big goal for the group. Was it those conversations that led you to be able to agree on that goal?
SOOBIN: I’m not someone with any big goals—I just want to enjoy the small things in life. But we talked a lot last year about our members’ dreams, what makes us happy, and what our goals are. Not all five of us shared the same goals, but we got to talking about how some of us want to make it to the top of our field. So I thought, If that’s what makes you happy, and that’s your goal, then I’ll try my best for it, too—because it’s always been my goal for the other members to be happy. I figured, if that’s what will make them happiest, then I’ll work toward the same goal with them.
Why does the other members being happy make you happy?
SOOBIN: It’s not just them—my family, my friends, the staff … Nothing makes me happier than seeing them all happy. That’s why I hope our fans are happy, too. I think the people I care about being happy makes me really happy and is as important to me as my own happiness. At least for me.
Has your attitude toward work changed as the goals you’re focused on have shifted?
SOOBIN: I’m making a bigger, tangible effort. I feel like I’ve always done my best, right from when we debuted, but now it’s like I’m trying to be even better than my best. (laughs) I’m practicing harder, working harder when shooting—everything. I’ll work harder this year than last, and next year I’ll work even harder still.
But there will always be bumps along the road when working toward your goals. How do you keep yourself moving forward?
SOOBIN: It might not be the case for everyone in this field, but I think this work makes me really happy, way more than it brings me pain. I'm not the type to dwell on something painful for too long in the first place. It's not simple to get this much love and support, and the happiness it brings is too important for me to let go just because things get tough. It brings me so much joy that it's worth sticking with, no matter what I have to go through.

Drunk Drabbles, Vol. 2
My loves @youre-ackermine and @wanderlustqueen-writes , thank you for the asks! I based this drabble on role play conversations I had with @botheringlevi - I hope you enjoy. 💗
11. Don’t you dare
Word Count: 879
Content: Levi x reader; love confession, fluff
——
Today was the day, you could feel it.
How long had it been now since Levi had first walked into your tea shop? You remember spring blossoms and a warm wind coming through the door, a man with a scowl on his face as he perused the tea canisters. You took a chance and recommended a black breakfast tea blend, brewing a small cup for him to try. When his lips touched the caramel colored tea, his entire demeanor changed and his face softened.
“Not bad.”
For some reason, that small, simple phrase felt like the greatest compliment.
After that encounter, he started coming monthly to the shop during his supply runs. And if he couldn’t, he’d send one of his squad members with an order. No matter what, you always made sure to add an extra bag of tea, although he would often scold you and insist he never takes anything for free. “Consider it a free sample,” you’d reply, and when you smiled at him, he’d acquiesce with a sigh.
Sometimes you’d send baked goods to Survey Corps HQ for him and his squad. That’s when you both started exchanging letters. You were curious about the world outside the walls, and he’d warn you not to entertain those thoughts. “It’s dangerous out there,” he wrote, “and it’d be a waste to lose someone like you.”
Why did those words make your heart skip a beat?
When winter’s chill had the Survey Corps grounded for the season, you invited Levi to your home for Yule. Watching him play with your three lively kittens, you saw Levi not as Humanity’s Strongest Soldier, but as a man with a big heart that was often heavily guarded.
He agreed to take you horseback riding when you’d admitted that it was something you’d never learned to do. He brought you books from the HQ library. He helped you create new tea blends for the new year.
And the more time you spent with him, the more you realized that your heart was yearning for him. You hoped for the winter to never end.
But all good things must come to a conclusion, and as Levi spent his last free evening with you in your small apartment above the tea shop, you wrestled with your emotions.
Finally, you stand up and face him.
“Levi..I care for you deeply. I’ve realized it’s more than just a simple crush.”
He sits quietly listening, one of your kittens on his lap.
“I love your passion for tea and your admiration for hard work and diligence. But even more so, you challenge my views and help me see the world in a new way. I’m better because of you.”
You move toward the fire, hoping he doesn’t notice the blood rushing to your cheeks. “I realize you’ve made a commitment to the Survey Corps and that being in a relationship might not be at the top of your list of priorities, You don’t have to feel the same way I do. But just know that there will always be someone here in Trost who will always have a warm place by the fire and a cup of tea, whenever you need it.”
There’s silence, then Levi places the kitten on the floor and walks over to you.
“I do have a list of priorities, and you rank highly on that list.”
He takes your hand and looks deep into your eyes. “But someday, I won’t return through that gate. What will you do then? Has that ever crossed your mind?”
You can see the conflict in his dark eyes. You place a gentle hand on his cheek and you notice that he flinches at first at your touch, but doesn’t back away.
“Oh Levi..it crosses my mind every time I see you ride out of that gate. I wonder if it will be the last time I’ll ever see you. If the last time we talked will be my final memory with you…”
“…but I can’t stop loving you now.”
His eyes widen. You grab his other hand. “Because none of us are guaranteed tomorrow. The only time that is sure is now, this present moment. And whatever time we have in this world, I want to spend it with you.”
It is quiet for what feels like an eternity. You search his face for a response, and then he looks away and says your name.
“I’m sorry,” you interrupt. “That was too abrupt of me, to just throw all my feelings at you.” You let go of his hands. “God, I feel like an idiot.”
You turn to leave and he grabs your hand. “Where do you think you’re going?”
“I’m so embarrassed..I just need to get out of here.”
He pulls you closer. “Don’t you dare.”
The next thing you know, you feel his lips pressed against yours and his arms move around your waist. He’s so warm, you think.
It’s over in an instant, but he doesn’t let go of you. Your forehead against his, you sigh. “Levi..”
He smiles, then gives you a look. “And just where were you going to go anyway? This is your house, you know.”
You both laugh as he pulls you in tighter for another kiss.

⭐️ Annual Writing Self-Evaluation 2023 ⭐️
I love doing this every year. (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022) I can't believe I've been writing for six years now! I looked through my past annual posts and got a bit emotional, it's amazing to see how much I've grown and changed.
1. Number of stories posted to AO3: 7
2. Word count posted for the year: 11,572
3. Fandoms I wrote for: One Direction, Music RPF (The Snuts)
4. Pairings: Harry Styles/Louis Tomlinson, Louis Tomlinson/Jack Cochrane, Louis Tomlinson/Bodyguard
5. Story with the most: Kudos: No (Birth) Control Bookmarks: No (Birth) Control Comments: Good Dogs Don’t Bark
6. Work I’m most proud of (and why): Chaos is a 100 word drabble that I'm very proud of. I tried for months to write a Louis/Bodyguard fic for the Louis Rare Pair fest and it just wasn't coming together. Putting a hard limit on the word count was a fun little challenge that helped me get the idea down on paper. At first I didn't know if I could build a steamy plot in so few words, but it worked out in the end and I couldn't be happier with it!
7. Work I’m least proud of (and why): Of the stuff posted this year, I'm not unhappy with anything, but if I had to rank everything, chapter 2 of Good Dogs Don’t Bark is at the bottom of the pack. I was in a weird mood writing-wise when I wrote that chapter and it reminds me of that time whenever I think of it.
8. Share or describe a favorite review you received: @allwaswell16 read Chaos on her podcast! I dedicated the drabble to her for inspiring and encouraging me all year when writing has been a struggle, and for being such a supportive mod for @louisrarepairfest!
9. A time when writing was really, really hard: All year! This is the least I've ever written since I started. Life has been full of big changes and it threw off my writing habits. I've also been very stuck in my head about certain aspects of writing that I never used to think twice about. I'm hoping now that life has settled and I've got somewhat of a new routine figured out, I can set some intentions and build up my habit again, because I really miss writing.
10. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you: This scene from Baking Memories made me burst out laughing when it came to me:
Looking down at his six little pies, Louis is starting to feel like a proper baker. Jack finishes up his last and says, “Alright, let’s top ‘em.” “I bet that’s your favourite part,” Louis jokes raising his eyebrows teasingly. “At least these don’t talk back when I’m topping.” “Oi!”
More under the cut.
11. A favorite excerpt of your writing: From No (Birth) Control
He picked up another potato. Twisting the paring knife expertly around the spud, the thin brown peel sliced away from the white flesh in smooth, practiced movements. It was easy for Harry to get lost in the meditative efforts of slicing, dicing, and peeling. Just two potatoes remained when Harry caught Louis’ piquant scent through the open window. Harry paused his singing and peeling as he breathed in deeply. His sense of smell was always attuned to his alpha, but this close to heat the pull was even stronger. The back door opened. The scent enveloped him, stronger than the savoury aroma of the roast, as Louis wrapped his arms around Harry’s middle, hugging him from behind. Harry melted back into his touch, forgetting about the half-peeled potato in his hand. “Hi baby.” Louis said, leaning in to drag his nose along the curve of Harry’s neck in tender greeting. “Alpha,” Harry sighed, tension he didn’t know he’d been holding meting away. He could stay like this, content in his alpha’s arms, forever. Louis licked up the side of his neck. The blatant scent marking sent shivers up Harry’s spine, and a light nip of sharp teeth over his bondmark started to make him wet. He would be half-tempted to bend over the counter, if it weren’t for the roast cooking in the oven and the twins playing in the yard. Harry bit back a whimper. “Lou, no,” he groaned. “I need to finish dinner.” With all his resolve, Harry gripped the paring knife tighter and focused his attention on peeling the remaining potatoes.
12. How did you grow as a writer this year: I've learned to be patient with myself. I have a lot of wips that I've started in 2019 or 2020 that aren't even close to being finished. I used to be so frustrated that I couldn't finish them, but now I've learned that sometimes the wip needs to sit in the dark cavern of the drafts folder to age like fine wine.
13. How do you hope to grow next year: I want to be more intentional about setting time to write. I miss having a regular writing time and want to be able to work on some of the exciting ideas I have.
14. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc): @allwaswell16 and @himynameiszayn are the most supportive friends, they were always around to offer advice, help me think of words, and cheer me on when writing was hard. I don't think I would have written half the amount of words I posted if it wasn't for them.
15. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year: I listened to The Snuts so much this year after seeing them play during FITFWT, so it was only natural for me to write a fic featuring Jack. I love the silly Christmas video the band shared a few years ago and knew it was perfect idea for the fic that became Baking Memories!
16. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers: I touched on it a bit above, but sometimes taking a pause on a wip you're struggling with is a good thing. Give yourself grace to move on when an idea isn't coming together the way you want. It doesn't mean you need to give up on the story completely, it might just be the wrong time.
17. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year: I am looking forward to writing something for @wankersday again, and I am getting closer to finishing my alien!Harry fic that's been 5 years in the making!
18. Tag some writers whose answers you’d like to read.
I tag @banaanipoika9 @louandhazaf @hazzabeeforlou @beelou anyone else that wants to do this!

Baking for the Devil in the Big White Tent
Tumblr media
(Dieter x horror loving female)
Words: 787
Summary: Dieter discovers a show you love that isn’t a horror
Warnings: Dieter being Dieter, lots of sweets, I know in America it’s called The Great British Baking Show but I’ve always known it by it’s original title
Check out masterlist here
You approached your boyfriend, mug of tea in hand, with a question you weren’t sure how he would answer. Sitting down next to him on the couch, you nervously asked him.
“Dieter, a show I like has just started a new season. Do you mind if I watch it now?”
“Is it a horror one?”
“No.”
“Then go ahead.”
Sighing in relief, you pressed play and Dieter snuggled up next to you, wondering what sort of non-horror show would have your interest.
“What is this show?”
“It’s The Great British Bake Off.”
“Wait, I know this show. Isn’t this some horror thing where they trap people in a tent, and they don’t let them out until they bake stuff for some blue-eyed devil?”
You tried not to gawp in confusion. “When you put it that way, it is a bit of a horror. But no, Bake Off isn’t a horror.”
“It’s not?”
“No, it’s a wholesome British show. Although it does get stressful when literal cracks start to form in cakes.”
Suddenly Dieter jumped up on the couch in fear. “Ah! That’s him! The blue-eyed devil!”
“That’s Paul Hollywood,” you explained but Dieter continued making the sign of the cross with his hands. “Were you sober when you watched this?”
“Not exactly,” Dieter stopped his attempt at exorcism and went back to snuggling.
You gave Dieter a running commentary as he looked at the screen with both fascination and confusion.
“Every week has a theme. The first week is always cake. There’s always someone who likes to experiment with exotic flavours. Last year was all miso.”
“Me so hungry.” That joke got a friendly little nudge from you.
“Every week there’s three challenges. This one is the signature challenge.”
“Is there a big prize at the end?” asked Dieter.
“Not really.”
“No $10,000 cash?”
“No, it’s just some nice plate thing. And bragging rights”
“Huh,” he mused. “That’s different from most American shows.”
“It is. It’s so much less cut-throat as well. Everyone is so nice on here.”
“I love all their accents! I’m going to have to try them.”
You couldn’t help but smile at his enthusiasm. “I don’t know how I feel about these bakers. I had so many favourites last year. I mean, they had Jurgen.”
*****
“Now the technical is when the bakers have to make something, but they don’t give them the complete recipe.”
“Why would they do that?”
“To test their baking skills. Then the judges blind tastes them.”
“I’d like to do that. Seems fun.”
“Not when things are underbaked.”
“I’d still eat it.”
“So now it’s the showstopper. This is when they have to do something impressive.”
You gripped his arm tightly as bakers rushed in the last five minutes, trying to put their bakes onto their stands.
“This is so tense,” said Dieter. “Now I know why you like this show.”
As the Star Baker was announced and the leaving baker was surrounded in hugs, you untangled yourself from your boyfriends embrace and got something from the kitchen.
“Bake Off puts me in a serious baking mood so I made a little something.”
“Wait, you have freshly baked goods in the house, and you didn’t tell me?”
“Well I know you’d scoff the lot,” he hmphed in agreement. “Before I had a chance to explain what they are.”
You pulled the lid off the container and Dieter looked in. He gazed at sponge cakes which were dipped in chocolate sauce and sprinkled in coconut.
“These are lamingtons.”
“Are they those things that jumped off the cliff in that Disney film?”
“They what?!”
“No wait, that’s Lemmings. And they were thrown off a cliff which is messed up and created that silly myth.”
Your confusion was delayed by Dieter putting a piece of coconut covered cake in his mouth followed by the appropriate moan of delicious delight.
“So will you be doing more baking?” he eagerly asked.
“Oh there will be lots more baking. Next week is biscuit week.”
“So biscuits and gravy?”
“No, it’s what the British call cookies. And what you call biscuits is what they call scones and they have them with jam and cream.”
He avoided thinking about it by taking another bite, it was a tasty distraction. “Would you ever go on the show?”
“Me? On Bake Off? Oh gosh no. I just bake for fun. Putting me in a competition will stress me out to no end,” he nodded in agreement. “But they do have a celebrity version for charity. It’s a lot less stressful.”
“And you’d be on that?”
“Oh no, I don’t think I’m famous enough. You might be good on it.”
“Dieter Bravo on The Great British Bake Off? As if.”

It’s taken a while because I had to get together the photographs and make decision (wow am I bad at making decisions!!! haha) but here you are…
My Top 10 Most Ridiculous/Favourite Bakes
So when I first started baking in like… 2010? I figured that if I bake cake batter directly in the mixing bowl I could make ball cakes… so that led to some exciting ball shaped fun. This was also at the same time as I realised that if you bring people ridiculously over the top cakes for their birthday, it makes them really happy… who knew?
Tumblr media
Ball cakes led on to foot and a half tall cakes consisting of stacked round cakes, ball cakes, and half ball cakes. For that is how you assemble a droid…. This is all very early in my cake making journey, before I’d really learnt about how important it is to fully cool cakes before stacking and decorating them. y’know, that stuff that keeps them from melting and sliding lol
Tumblr media
And then for a minute I got really into chocolate, and clearly developed a dislike for crockery, deciding to make chocolate doilies and chocolate bowls, to serve my chocolate mousse in and on. Fuck plates! LOL This was also when I made Ruth the most indulgent chocolate cake covered in all manners of chocolate decorations, including spelling her name in chocolate lol
Tumblr media
And then our friends got married and asked me whether I would make their wedding cake, because they loved my baking. Hell, yeah! Both their sets of parents are quite traditional, so while they did come to the wedding and the party afterwards, they said from the start they would only stick around for about an hour. So I thought it would be fun to have a traditional looking three tier wedding cake, for when the parents were at the party. And then when they left and it got cut, each tier turned out to be rainbow coloured! Oh, and the cake toppers are the brides made out of FIMO, in their wedding outfits, which I sourced for them, so I had the inside knowledge on that. Those little FIMO ladies have lived on their mantel piece for 11 years, which is how long they’ve been married <3
Tumblr media
Most of my cakes have been inspired by Ruth’s birthday, and wanting to create something new and exciting every year! Ruth loves Afternoon Tea, and I thought it would be fun to create a traditional tea… entirely out of cake! Think this was the first time where the baking started with a full page of notes beforehand. Always a good sign… lol those cucumber sandwiches are cake, by the way. The clotted cream, jam, and sugar bowl, lid, and spoon are made of icing. The jam cookies… are just cookies haha
Tumblr media
Then for about a minute and a half I got into mirror glaze. I watched too many YouTube video and thought it looked really cool. However I veeery quickly got over it due to a) it not actually being very difficult at all, so the challenge went out of it pretty quick, and b) how insanely wasteful it is. Not a big fan. What I was a big fan of was that 30th birthday surprise I did for my work colleague. Got into work at 6am to set it all up. Those balloons are sewn to her chair, by the way. And I’m pretty sure she still found confetti in her desk phone and drawers a week later hahaha
Tumblr media
And then the farm tradition of Sorry You’re Leaving cakes started, two of which will be on every Top Mys Baking list, always. I learned how to make sugar glass so we could have a greenhouse in the middle of the vegetable beds with a cat on it, a sugar glass pond with ducks, and a sugar glass “stone” path. I free hand made a goat out of icing (with sugar glass horns) and an alpaca, a pig in mud, some bees to go on some flowers, a ton of vegetables, a growing frame… there was a LOT of stuff on this cake, and it was all awesome!
Tumblr media
And then a year later another dear friend left the farm and I wasn’t sure how to top the previous cake… But hey! What’s better than one cake? Yes! TWO cakes lol So we have the large animal yard on one cake and the duck pond with its double fenced vegetation boarder on the other cake. This time a lot of work went into finding shop bought candy that would have the right look and texture, such as waver biscuits for animal stables, Daim bars for bark planks (for goat mountain), mikado for pond fences, twirls for wooden sleepers for raised beds, fudge for brick walls and so on, and so forth. I also free hand made cats, ducks, a turkey, goats, and marshmallow sheep FROM HELL!!! Sorry, those didn’t come out right… hahaha
Tumblr media
In 2017 I was diagnosed with MS, like four days before my birthday party. And I didn’t really want to celebrate, I didn’t want to spend an entire day having to tell people about my diagnosis and answering questions about MS and listening to platitudes. And then Ruth asked me if there was anything I would like? We were both massively into All the Other Ghosts at the time (a Glee AU and one of the best stories I’ve ever read) and I said that what I wanted as a AtoG party and to not tell anyone about my diagnosis until after. So that’s what happened. And it was amazing! Which then started the annual tradition of over the top themed birthday parties I threw for myself and all my friends. We had a Shadowhunters one. We had a BBC Merlin one. However the Dragon one is still one of my favourites, as it was the first time I managed to make even the sandwiches themed!!! Hahaha Also those brownies are well up there with the best stuff I’ve ever come up with. Look how cute they are!!!! And my darling friend Sonja couldn’t make it to the party, but send me the Toothless cardboard pop up in her absence <3
Tumblr media
And then, as I think many of you know, I got really into cookie decorating and sending decorated parcels of cookies to my friends and family during the pandemic. And that has definitely continued. Every birthday now has decorated cookies. I sent a huge bunch to my friend when she got engaged. I sent a box to my niece in Switzerland for her birthday. @f-f-podcast sent cookies out to our patrons for Christmas last year. Below is just a small selection of a truly insane number of cookies I have iced over the years!!
Tumblr media
Wow. If you made it all the way to the bottom of this post… congrats! Hope you enjoyed the baking madness. If you’ve not had enough yet you can see more by hitting the ‘Mys in the Kitchen’ tag. Enjoy!

List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who liked or reblogged something from you! Get to know your mutuals and followers ✨♡
Hiiii this is so cute and I just realized that @moonriseblueeyes also sent this to me in DECEMBER yikes sorry I didn’t see it till now ✌️
ok let’s see. I hope nobody’s expecting anything profound
Cheesecake. Forever and always my favorite dessert, and in the past 5 years I’ve been mastering how to make them. There is pretty much nothing more satisfying to me than seeing a cheesecake baking perfectly. (I say this while knocking on wood because I’m pretty sure there’s a god of cheesecake who WILL smite me down if I get too cocky. it has happened before.)
Audiobooks. I’m new to this because I’m suuuuuuper picky about narrators, but I have a fairly long commute every day and I was in a rut with podcasts so I’ve been giving audiobooks a chance and i’m really enjoying them! The Locked Tomb audiobooks are fucking incredible, and in January I listened to Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein read by Colin Salmon and it was WONDERFUL.
Mable, my dog 💕 I dogs when I was little but they were all like, outdoor-only farm dogs. Mable is my first indoor dog and she’s an angel who’s never done anything wrong in her life.
Walking. ok hear me out. this is not a “oh i’m so healthy look at me speedwalk”. the past year or two i’ve been desperately trying to reconnect with the wild outdoorsy gremlin I was as a child, and the best way I’ve found to do that is by putting in An Outfit (crucial) (I was doing this in the winter too, and bundling up like a babushka was an absolute key part of the process) and just ~wandering around~ outside. its been a huge help for my mental health, AND i’m having fun. I’ve been jamming out to chappell roan and kate bush, and practicing my spanish, while spending time with my dog and getting sunshine? no downsides 😌
BEVERAGES I fucking love a good beverage. I work at a coffeeshop and we’re always workshopping new drinks, and we just got in this Forage Kombucha which so so yummy. I don’t drink alcohol very much, but I love that I’ve so many more beverage options! my sister is a really good mixologist and she made me this cocktail with vodka and lemon juice and raspberry jam?? and it slapped!! also I tried hot buttered rum for the first time on new years and have made it a personal challenge to find other hot beverages made better with spiced butter; so far the winners have been hot chocolate (to no ones surprise) and this dandelion detox tea that my mom got (though I think the butter probably cancels out the detoxifying properties lmao)

5 MLQC Male Leads’ Christmas Letters to MC
Dear MC,
Merry Christmas! Happy holidays. This year seems to have passed by quickly somehow too, but you’ve accomplished many things this year despite the challenges. You never cease to amaze me with your determination, creative ideas, and commitment to your work. I’m so proud of you, Miss Chips! Let’s continue to work better and make the upcoming year even more successful! Thank you for being my Muse and devoted fan/Soda. I want to write more uplifting songs to share with you and the rest of the world. Anyway, it’s Christmas so let’s enjoy the day together in our pajamas and test out all the new video games I bought for us to try. I can’t wait to just relax, eat snacks, open gifts, and spend the day talking and laughing together with you. I have planned out a night of board games as well with hot cocoa and plenty of marshmallows. Apple Box and Cello will get to see their new toys and want to play with you too.
                                               Yours Truly,
                                                       Kiro
  Dear MC,
You have been once again formally invited to Christmas Eve dinner, Christmas Day brunch, and Christmas dinner at Souvenir this year. The holidays and special occasions you have not-so-subtlely-hinted, looked forward to, and worked towards are finally here. Keep up the progress and improvements with your proposals/reports. You can always come to me for advice no matter which troubles and predicaments you may find yourself in from time to time. We will solve and face them together. I look forward to seeing your many ideas, “surprises”, and results of your efforts. Anyway, today is not a workday so let’s see how you like the new Christmas menu. I can already imagine your gluttonous smile and inability to decide between having crepes, cinnamon rolls, and waffles for Christmas brunch. I have already prepared a special Christmas treat for Pudding as well.
                                                           Victor
   Dear MC,
I know we’ve both been so busy with work this year. Let’s go for a walk together in the park and have a Christmas picnic lunch. It will be good to get some exercise outdoors and then just relax. What I look forward to the most for the holidays is spending it together with you. One of my other plans is that I already have tickets to the amusement park too so we can have fun and take photos there. We can try out all of the different rides, see parades at night with Christmas lights, eat corndogs, cotton candy, peppermint chocolate cookies, and more. If there is anything else you want to try doing, just let me know. Sparky and I look forward to having new adventures with you any time of the year.
                                                                 Sincerely,
                                                                 Gavin
  Hey MC,
The weather outside is actually not so bad today. How about we go to the skate park and practice some tricks? I want to see the progress you’ve made and what you’ve learned so far. You’re so fortunate to have such an amazingly talented, great teacher like me. Afterwards, we can make a hotpot feast for dinner. I wonder what silly gifts you bought for me this time. In return, I’ll teach you some new card games this year. We can also watch historical documentaries and movies and quiz each other. I bought a Christmas cake since you’ve been talking so much about how good the new items at the bakery are recently. Happy Holidays.
                                                                       Shaw
    Dear MC,
I never had much of a reason to celebrate the holidays before, but you’ve changed my mind about them. Now, I see that the holidays are meant to be spent with those we appreciate and care about. Today, we can spend Christmas doing arts and crafts and baking cookies together. You can make whichever crafts and cookies you like. I picked out some arts and crafts guidebooks and baking cookbooks for you to bookmark and use them. I am glad we went groceries shopping for baking ingredients recently. We can also visit the new cat café that you’ve been talking about. Whichever plans you decide on, I look forward to trying them all together. The holidays seem special because of who we spend them with and how we spend them. Let’s continue to make more of these holiday memories this year and the next.
                                                                       Sincerely,
                                                                       Lucien

@stubborngods asked: ““I’m not trying to baby you. It’s called taking care of my friends.” (jaxon + matty)”
-
“Is that what you call it?” He rolls his eyes but his lips curve in a smile. That isn’t always a good thing. Matty often has a smile on his face. It’s more about the eyes that go with it. His eyes will narrow at a challenge, or sparkle if he thinks of some trouble to get into. They go wide when he has an idea of some new treat to bake, or still and focus in if someone’s angered him. Now isn’t any of that - he’s looking anywhere but Jax. That means he’s lying. Or hiding something. “Because what I heard was you lecturing me. Again. All because I pulled a prank on Mal.” He shrugs, like it’s casual. Like she hasn’t threatened him before. Like her wrath isn’t growing. “Am I not allowed to have fun anymore?” He tries to be innocent, but that mischievous glint has finally found its way back into his eyes and it gives him away.

9 Favorite Books
Thanks for the tag @cultofsappho!
It was a pleasure to think about favorites, and it was a challenge. What can I say? English major who devours books, with 36 books marked as comfort reads in the Libby app! My favorites change at least monthly… So I went with some that are favorites because of the memories attached / impact on my life, and some that are favorite examples of a theme I enjoy.
Harold and the Purple Crayon series by Crockett Johnson - These are the first books I remember my Mom reading to me, and they're associated with my first memories of visiting a library. A couple of years ago I picked them up again to see if they were as delightful as I remembered, and they were! The themes of creativity wrapped themselves around my heart.
Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen - This was the book that shook my world my first year in college, when I'd decided that "literature" meant depressing. It was a shock to realize the book really was SUPPOSED TO BE FUNNY. This and books inspired by it are frequent re-reads for me. Runner up is If On a Winter's Night a Traveler by Italo Calvino, which I read my senior year.
The Light Fantastic by Terry Pratchett - My best friend in college recommended this when I mentioned that I was only reading class assignments and I'd gotten out of the habit of pleasure reading. The Discworld series pulled me back into reading for fun, and it inspired me to write again, so it will always have a place in my heart. Plus, Pratchett's style and sense of humor are truly amazing. And in case you're wondering, yes, I love Good Omens, too.
Absolutely, Positively by Jayne Ann Krentz - This represents my post-college romance phase. I picked this one because of the humor, the hints of sci-fi elements, and the fact that JAK's Seattle settings were one of the things that convinced me I'd like living in the Pacific Northwest. Runner up from my romance phase is Getting Rid of Bradley by Jennifer Crusie. I just this summer heard that she has new books out, and I really hope the new ones live up to my memories of snarky humor.
Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li - Now we're moving on to themes and tropes I love. As a writer in the White Collar fandom, it's not a big surprise that I love a good heist story, and this one had excellent twists. Runner up is Little Thieves by Margaret Owen, which has a fantasy/fairy tale setting.
Paris Daillencourt is About to Crumble by Alexis Hall - This represents my love of stories about cooking and baking. Extra ingredients include romance, humor, and a well-balanced story about mental health. I've enjoyed several books by Alexis Hall, and I'm looking forward to reading more.
The Twelve Points of Caleb Canto by copperbadge on AO3 - Music, musicians, singers -- love, love love these elements. Plus a sweet love story for a neurodiverse character. Runner up is the Tinkered Starsong series by Gail Carriger -- so far I've read the first two books in the trilogy, and it's a fun combo of pop singers and sci-fi.
Artificial Condition by Martha Wells - I adore the whole Murderbot series, but if I had to pick a favorite, this would be it. This fills my need for sci-fi and snarky narrators, and sometimes it's nice to take a break from romances with an aroace lead character. And the audiobooks narrated by Kevin R Free perfectly capture the distinctive voice of Murderbot. These books got me through the time last year when I needed to escape from a toxic job and needed an escape from the pressures of job interviews. And I keep listening to the audiobooks now that I’m in a great job, because they're such perfection.
The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune - This fills my need for gentle stories with limited conflict, the kind of stories that teachers used to tell me weren't valid. I have so many favorites in this category! Runners up include: A Psalm for the Wild-Built, Legends & Lattes, and Sal & Gabi Break the Universe.
Such a pleasure to think about books I love!
I'll gently tag @edupunkn00b and @silbrith and @thesymphonytrue if you want to participate

I Get a Sugar Rush Whenever I'm With You - Chapter 6.2
Happy Friday fellow Drukkari stans, or whatever day it is for you! I come bearing the next mini-chapter! If you missed any prior installments, you can find all of them on my new table of contents here. Previously, Druig and Makkari got to have an extra fluffy baking session, but can the sweetness last? Find out now in the next installment of Drukkari in the Great British Bake Off!
Tumblr media
Druig was riding high into the weekend, even if he’d been dreading this particular week since he’d found out what it was. He’d never been much for dieting, as he didn’t see the point of limiting what he ate if he didn’t have to, so an entire week based around cutting out certain ingredients seemed rather daunting. Nevertheless, he’d been in a noticeably better mood ever since his afternoon with Makkari. She hadn’t stayed too long after they finished baking (and eating half the éclairs they’d just made). She’d helped him clean up a bit, packed up the rest of the éclairs, and given him a hug goodbye. He wouldn’t quite call it a date. They were just two friends baking and hanging out. In secret. Even so, he’d enjoyed it immensely, and it seemed like Makkari had as well.
They greeted each other as usual outside the hotel, and Druig couldn’t say for sure, but it felt like something in the air had changed between them. Standing with their friends, it felt like Makkari stayed closer to him than usual. That said, she always stood close enough to bump shoulders with him or reach over and punch his arm if he provoked such a response. Today, however, Makkari didn’t do either of those things. She just stood by him, occasionally chiming into the conversation, and while she didn’t turn her head, Druig thought he’d seen her glancing at him from the corner of her eye, a smile playing at her lips. It was a wonder she could keep up with the conversation at all, as he’d stopped listening almost as soon as he noticed her looking. When he finally tuned back into the group, he saw Ajak eyeing them, one eyebrow beginning to rise. Druig looked away as calmly and casually as he could.
Like he had during weeks prior, Druig held onto that happy feeling as the day progressed. The first challenge wasn’t too bad, but it definitely could’ve gone better. Now that he’d made ice cream during a technical, making it during a signature didn’t seem quite as stressful, even if it was dairy-free. That said, he’d also chosen a more basic flavor profile, making things slightly easier for himself. He’d gone with almond milk vanilla ice cream, dipped in chocolate with a hint of chili. The judges found it simple but effective, though Arishem had also added that he found it a bit underwhelming after last week’s performance. It certainly wasn’t his most glowing review, but Druig found that his wasn’t the opinion he most cared about.
The good thing about the chocolate dip was that he’d been able to save one for Makkari, much to her delight. She happily ate it, remarking, Sorry, I wish I could’ve save one of mine for you.
While Druig was quite curious about hers (Makkari had made mango ice cream topped with chili powder), he’d only replied, Guess you’ll just have to make it again for me sometime.
She gave him an amused look, but before she could respond, Kingo came trotting over, Phastos trudging along behind him.
“It’s days like this that I’m glad I don’t have to do the baking anymore,” Kingo said.
“Spoken like someone who doesn’t have a lactose intolerant child with a sweet tooth,” Phastos replied. Despite being a busy engineer, husband, and father, he’d picked up BSL quite quickly and had already started signing along where he could.
You really don’t miss competing? Makkari asked Kingo.
“I mean, I do. It was a really great experience, but sometimes, it really is more fun to just watch,” Kingo responded.
“No offense, Kingo, but the behind-the-scenes stuff seems to suit you better than being in front of the camera,” Druig added. Kingo’s mouth fell open at the remark.
“Was that an actual back-handed compliment?” he asked.
“You’re actually touched by that?” Phastos asked, visibly confused.
“I’m pretty sure that’s as close as Druig’s ever gotten to complimenting me, so I’ll take it,” Kingo explained matter-of-factly.
“Who’s handing out compliments?” Sersi called over as she and Ajak approached the table.
“Druig said I was doing a good job!” Kingo answered excitedly.
“I also said you weren’t good in front of a camera,” Druig corrected.
“Well, that makes more sense,” Sersi said as she sat down.
“At least he said something nice,” Ajak added. “It’s good to change things up sometimes. Although, I don’t think I’ll be making dairy-free ice cream again any time soon.”
A few of them groaned in agreement (including Kingo, though Makkari threw a crouton at him in retaliation, much to Druig’s amusement). Ajak hadn’t gone for anything too complicated, but her chocolate ice cream hadn’t quite set, making for quite the mess when it came time for judgment. The others had done alright, but Druig could sense that none of them were looking forward to the next two challenges.
One person who hadn’t struggled at all, however, was Sprite, whose avocado ice cream had only garnered praise. As she and Gilgamesh neared the table, completing the party, they started applauding. She paused to roll her eyes but gave them a playful bow before she took her seat and accepted the onslaught of compliments.
“Well, I did have the advantage. I’ve been vegan since I was 12,” Sprite said.
“So last month?” Gilgamesh teased, which earned him a few chuckles, but Sprite was not amused.
“I’m sure you get this all the time, but one day, you’ll be glad you look young for your age,” Ajak tried to reassure.
“You’re right, I do get that all the time,” Sprite replied wryly.
If you do well on the technical, do you think your mom will let you come to dinner with us? Makkari asked.
“Tell her we may seem like grown-ups, but we’re really just a bunch of oversized kids,” Gilgamesh added. “And we promise not to be bad influences!”
“Oh, I don’t actually need her permission. I just didn’t want to hang out with a bunch of adults twice my age and above,” Sprite replied, grinning snarkily. Several members of the group voiced their discontent at this statement, but she cut them off, saying, “I’m kidding! I already asked her, and she said I could make an appearance.”
“What about you, Phastos?” Ajak asked.
“We’ll see. Jack likes me to Facetime him before he goes to bed,” Phastos explained.
One of these days, we’ll get you to dinner, Makkari signed, a playful look in her eye.
“Assuming I make it through this week!” he lamented. No matter how well he did, Phastos always seemed to think he was one mistake away from elimination.
“Well, considering you got Arishem to enjoy peanut butter ice cream, I’d say you make it to next week,” Druig interjected.
“Again, with the almost compliments!” Kingo remarked. “Next thing you know, he’ll start being nice to people not named Makkari!”
This time, Makkari handed Druig the crouton. It hit Kingo right in the forehead, drawing plenty of laughter from most of the table, a light scolding from Ajak, and another eye-roll from Sprite as she muttered something about being more mature than most of her fellow competitors.
-
I may not agree with her actions, but as someone who's always looked young for their age, I can relate to Sprite 😆 Likes, comments, and re-blogs would be much appreciated!
