tuesday again

got my first vaccine shot on saturday so maybe slightly fewer problems?

listening pink chateau by in the valley below- dino chadix remix. this is part of a trio of remixes (all three are killer, the next one on the EP has a beat that blossoms like fireworks in slow motion) BUT my favorite is this frenetic version with a danceable interlude. this song popped into my brain again bc i was rifling through my “list of phrases that catch my fancy/could be chapter titles” and “down in the valley below, we can drink champagne in the pink chateau” is both nonsensical and mysterious enough to work for what i have in mind

reading nothing fun. i know how to do things in python but not in excel and this has led to many frustrations over the past week

watching i consider myself generally immune to copaganda but i am not immune to pedro pascal. i watched the entire first season of narcos over the weekend. someone has to have giffed this scene but i cannot find it. i will not be taking any further questions.

playing pc still not fixed but i am discovering more games run acceptably on my ancient laptop, including minit and pikuniku. bounced off both of these pretty hard. and we’re going to talk about why!

minit has a really cool conceit (you only have a minute to fuck around before you die and start over) and i’m really glad it exists in the world but whoo boy does it make me anxious

pikuniku is a charming little puzzle/platformer with excellent...movement systems? walk cycles? it’s really fun to walk around in this game. what is not fun is the platforming bits where i have to swing and get the timing right, something i am historically extremely bad at. i didn’t grow up playing games so my hand-eye coordination leaves something to be desired. would this be easier on a controller? yes, almost certainly. however, if i have to be bad at a totally new thing in a style of game i’m already not very good at i will implode

making some really non-photogenic stuff (leek & potato soup! new container for triops! new betta in a tank that still needs some work!) but more traditional making things include

slowly picking at this trio of eventual-patches for my sister, finally nailed down the specific strawberry pinks i want to use. these are so tiny it makes more sense to use what i have on hand as opposed to buying more thread on purpose. the other two have a slightly different color vibe to them, although we’ll see what they look like all together and i do not think my sister will care
