an eye for an eye: I have mixed feelings? it looks like it might touch on some heavy, real issues - I'd be interested to see an exploration of things like corruption and nepotism.. but it depends on how much of this is just for drama and how much is commentary

drag, I love you: uh... what? is the plot supposed to be “homophobic/transphobic guy falls in love with a woman who is pretending to be a male drag queen, not knowing she’s a woman” ??? No ❤️ we don’t want it ... or am I misunderstanding? is this the one joss said he thought 3wbf fans would be excited for? I’m not seeing it..

fish upon the sky: this could def be interesting!! it’s by the same author as 2gether - actually I might be wrong, but I think this was the only trailer that drew attention to the author’s name... gmmtv really want a repeat of 2g’s success, which is understandable, they’re a business, but... when it involves portraying LGBT characters, I just hope it’s done well. I'm interested to see where they go with this – “when you love someone, you must change yourself” - maybe it’ll provide “be yourself” kinda message? also phuwin!! precious 🥺❤️

let’s start with that: jace could actually have been an interesting character but the writers rlly fucked that up

another thing they fucked up was not making izzy canonically bisexual when it was heavily implied by her actions in season 1

the timeline isn’t THAT bad, it’s definitely unfortunate and inconsistent but all of that having have happened in like 3 months almost makes sense

related to 3x14: i don’t like clace but the clace ice skating scene was absolutely adorable and i’m glad it was bc we have to watch them anyway might as well get cute scenes + it gives clace stans an actual reason to ship it

that being said clace is still lowkey abusive and incestuous and clary is a lesbian and they hardly have any good scenes together which gets me to my next point

it’s the malec show

like it literally is the malec show and on one hand that’s amazing because that means that the mlm couple gets cuter scenes, domestic scenes, communication, their own storyline(s) etc. bc the writers know that it’s what gets them views

on the other hand malec being the most established thing in the show and the thing the writers most focus on makes everything else a lot more inconsistent and worse in quality

also people obsessing over them having “sexy scenes” together is weird

this next one isn’t unpopular at all but sizzy is book fan service and shouldn’t happen in the show bc it’s almost disrespectful to people who like the show for the show and don’t care about the books at all or don’t even know them

however people (on twitter) being angry at the writers for talking about sizzy/giving sneak peeks for them/teasing them is like. unnecessary, they are (sadly) an endgame couple so it makes sense for them to be treated as such. they’ll literally have like approximately 15 scenes together at the end of 3b, might as well give the shippers something

i’ve talked about this before but izzy & magnus’ wardrobes in season 1….. we deserve them back stop with the boring stuff we have now i want campy and sparkles

talking about season 1: alec was almost unbearable, he was racist and lowkey sexist and when people say they want “salty alec” back i’m always a bit 😶

also not unpopular but the writers making these strong female characters but then having them fight in heels and revolve their storylines around men. just say u have women and go

top three worst things that happened in the show: maia apologising to her abuser, izzy’s drug arc, incest

izzy might be the most mistreated character by the writers, they clearly didn’t know what to do with her after season 1 so they made her a drug addict, she barely has any scenes, she often seems like an afterthought, an “oh right we gotta do something with this girl too” kinda thought when she’s supposed to be a main. i’m glad they’re slowly changing that in 3b

i’m also glad they officially made meliorn bisexual but maybe implying a threesome wasn’t the best way to do it

This is so hilarious to me, okay, this prompting hand flick Alec does (which you can't see here because I can't gif, only screenshot ahahaha) man I love it. Sadly I didn't find a gif of this yet, so I can't put one :( I can't even put into words why it's so hilarious to me. And Magnus's sceptical gaze hahaha.

I mean we all knew this was fake, not least because it implies Magnus is wearing the same outfit two days in a row and obviously this would NEVER happen, but also because in no universe does Alec have smooth dance moves. It's a law of nature.

Tiny waist touch is spotted and highly appreciated.

That scene transition was brilliant and there is nothing else to say about it. I lost count of how many times I've rewatched it because it's awesome. The way Alec's voice sounds slighty off, the way Magnus gets heavier in his arms, the way everything spins out of focus, and Alec's last “Stay with me” sounds almost hard with urgency.

When I first saw this I was legit yelling at the screen why the hell Alec is just shaking him instead of, idk, doing CPR but I did him a grave injustice there because he actually does and I really appreciate that. (Though, if he learned first aid I wonder all the more about 3x12 (or was it 3x13, I lost count lol) where he just lets Sentry Guy die without even trying to save him.)

That being said, I'm really happy we got to see the immediate aftershocks of it because I was half afraid this episode would just start with Magnus in the infirmary bed. Still, I have a question. Who called Catarina? Izzy? Because why is she then so shocked when she learns Magnus is not breathing? When she presumably first entered the room to receive the instruction to call Catarina, did she not... wonder why Alec was cpr-ing him? Or did Magnus not immediately stop breathing after collapsing but just, faded slowly while Alec had already told Izzy to call Catarina? I kinda wanna know the mechanics here.

I mean, no surprise there if you keep killing them?? Ahahaha.

I absolutely loved this scene, in terms of acting it was perfect and it was painfully in character for Alec to blame himself for everything that's not going alright with someone he loves. The problem I have however (because come on, there's always a problem with me) is that they genuinely want to tell me that Alec didn't realize Magnus was faking it? Magnus loses his magic and he “doesn't think twice”? I mean, that's either really really insensitive or really really stupid. And Alec might be insensitive sometimes, but not like that and he surely isn't that stupid. So, uh, I don't really like that bit. Again, if he was secretly happy that Magnus's immortality is gone that's one more thing to feel intensely shitty about, I get that, but being secretly glad how things turned out and not realizing the other person is suffering from how things turned out are two entirely different things. And just, tf Alec. He can't possibly be that dense, can he, that he genuinely thought Magnus was okay with this. Even if he thought this was something Magnus could get used to in the long run, he didn't expect him to need some kind of settling-in period? Really??

Honestly, Magnus's touch is natural and familiar (btw love the uncoordinated grabbing) while Alec turns Magnus's chin as if he's trying to make as little physical contact as humanly possible. Is a hand on his cheek really too much to ask for? *sigh*

.........yeah. This is so relatable and I love how he delivers this line. The desperation is clear, but he's also determined about it. Also, quick question, why didn't Alec get Catarina to be there when Magnus wakes up instead of Lorenzo? I'm not saying it would have changed the outcome but it might just have made Magnus feel less shitty about being exposed to his nemesis in this weak state. Then again I get it, Alec is running on panic and instinct, so consideration is the last thing on his mind.

This scene was amazing. Or, lol, this part of the scene. Magnus's performance is stellar and FYI the next thing he says, the “Look at me! Can you honestly say you like this?” was improvised and that's just ugh so good. Coincidentally this is also where my issues with this scene begin. They're not about how the characters act, I found that part very very fitting; it's meta.

The issue Magnus is having isn't about some fear that Alec won't love him anymore now that he doesn't have his magic anymore. Magnus is projecting. His issue lies within himself. He feels differently about himself, he can't say he likes this, and it's only in conclusion that he assumes it must be the same for Alec. But Alec isn't the root of this issue. But of course it's easier to pretend it's about Alec than to openly admit his severe self-image issues, so that's what Magnus does. Perfectly ic to me. The problem I have here is that if we take what Magnus says at face value it appears that Magnus only wants his magic back so Alec will keep loving him (sidenote: even more if you cross out Harry's addition and just focus on the “You fell in love with the High Warlock of Brooklyn. Can you honestly say you don't feel differently about me?”) and the solution to that is clear: Alec drops some wedding vows, problem solved.

But that's not the problem here. Magnus would literally rather be dead than without his magic and no amount of Alec waxing poetry about him is going to change that. And honestly, I'm so grateful for Harry's addition because that made it abundantly clear to me that Magnus is projecting. His bewildered “Can you honestly say you like this?” is an admittance of “I see what I am now and I can't bear it, so how could you?” If that scene had been about Alec, that would have been so uncalled for.

And also loooool but uuuuuuhhh I found Alec's speech less than impressive? I'm sorry, I know he tried but it just didn't work for me? I felt like it really wasn't up to his usual par. Lol I honestly rolled my eyes when he started about the spark that lights up the room XD It felt impersonal, kinda. It's hard to describe. Of course I can cut him some slack on that, because he was emotionally severely overchallenged in that moment and had to make it up on the fly, but uh. Yeah.

Anyway what I really didn't like was his closing line because it kinda sounded as if he was making that decision for Magnus and that's not his place. It might be dangerous and stupid and “not worth the risk” but Magnus isn't in a place where he should have his authority revoked, so. Kept from gambling with his life, yes. With sound arguments and empathy, yes. With dictation, no. So that didn't go over too well with me. Anyway I channeled that into a ficlet already, too, which I'm also advertising at the end.

1) The infirmary is very weird and open space for a place that should be easily closable if you need to contain, idk, sick people and their viruses and keep it sanitary. 2) I've been wondering since the start of the episode, did Lorenzo's pony tail get shorter? Wasn't it longer before? 3) At least Malec managed to make their feet intersect minimally, so yay for small mercies.

Look, while part of me is undeniably thrilled at the prospect – because while I was totally rooting for a Malec Wedding I was pretty sure it was an unachievable dream, just like hoping for Sheith – this is exactly what I mean with taking things at face value. Alec takes Magnus at his words (that he has doubts Alec will still love him now that he lost his powers) and so he thinks that a grand gesture of commitment will fix it.

But it won't, because that's not the problem. Or at least I hope it's not the problem, I mean if I lost my arm my main worry would be “Holy shit how am I gonna cope without my trusty appendage” not “What are the neighbors gonna think? Will I still be able to rock my favorite outfit without that limb?”

Anyway. I don't think this'll go over too well at this point in time. And honestly, Alec just realized at the beginning of this episode that he was fooled by Magnus's coping facade and tricked into thinking Magnus would be fine without his magic. And now Magnus has lost is magic again and Alec just... makes the same mistake again, blindly believing the words coming out of Magnus's mouth instead of taking a look for himself and seeing how Magnus is faring? Did he learn nothing from this? Alec. Why are you like this.

Anyway, conclusion time: This episode was way more reasonably paced than the last, the shit decision making was kept to a minimum (except for the part where they, y'know, summon Lilith back to earth) and Jace gets a diligence starlet for displaying common sense.

I see the disconnect between the general tv audience and the books. Honestly, it is a way we can have other book couples like Sizzy x Clace but so much was just written badly. I liked it when during season 2 they went into AU lanes. This fit more and I still think the Shadowhunter world fits so much with adult characters, gritty, raw etc. I would’ve loved an entire light season with the AU episode. It was so light yet dark at the same time.

I’m glad that they aged the characters up, tbh. That was a great change (among others I liked, too). But yea, imo especially c/lace just didn’t work because Kat and Dom don’t really have romantic chemistry. They already changed so much, most die hard book stans are already gone and will hate everything the writers are doing unless it’s 1:1 what’s in the books. Might as well let Jace and Clary stay siblings, imo that worked much better than their dumbass “my love for clary is stronger” bullshit. 

And since I’m on the topic, in the show it made zero sense that Clary brought Jace back from the dead and not her mum. In the books? Okay, sure. But in the show she lost her mother. The person who she did everything for in s1 and who she was willing to do anything for to get her back after she died. And suddenly she can get a dead loved one back and she picks the dude she’s known for a hot second over her mother? Right.

I will never forget when she had the audacity to tv!Alec a rapist. I was ready to throw hands. I normally don’t stan for white male characters like that but that comment is just wrong in so ways. What kills me is that Shadowhunters from the very beginning presented Magnus x Alec as an eventual couple. I followed the show since I saw that first bright ass promo of Luke looking at the moon, Simon in the hotel and then Magnus in the club not to mention fetus!Malec with that look though. Yesss! 

Lmao. Okay anyway, the author seemed nice enough but those feeling wore off quickly after I read she was very 2 faced then trashed the show and actors, who were genuinely happy about the project. There was a lot of positive vibes all around before the pilot aired and all throughout season 1. I followed interviews with them and the first showrunner Ed Detector. The entire SH team from seasons 1-2 made it clear MA was a thing and they were going to develop Sizzy slowly.action 

 Sorry for the rant she just pisses me off when she says things that are clearly not true. Anyone who follow the show can see this also. I don’t get what she stands to accomplish being this level of petty by trying devalue the show. It is hilarious that she throws shade when the basic concepts of the show came from the book series even though the show is very standalone at this point. The tv characters have similar qualities but they are expanded on then redefine because they are actual adults.

I got into the show because of Malec. This post crossed my dash and I was hooked. Show Malec is so warm and loving. 

I heard about the books and asked my Malec lovelies if reading them was a good idea. LMAO, it was pretty obvious that there was no love for CC in the crowd I was hanging out with. 

I bought the Bane Chronicles solely for the Malec stories. But I have no interest in buying the rest of the books. Even though I am interested in the Malec series she is working on and I think is being published next year. 

I did read her comments about Alec forcing Magnus into having sex, and that is ridiculous. Not only wasn’t he forced, but he is a warlock who would have easily gotten away from Alec if he felt threatened. 

Yes, that promo with Malec is awesome and if I had seen it at the time, it would have gotten me interested in the show right away. 

The way they look at each other. Magnus’ hand possessively on Alec’s shoulder. How can you not want to see these two happy together? 

Nothing to apologize for. CC was just pissed that the movie BOMBED. Maybe because she was too involved in it. Maybe because it was based too much on her books. Who knows. But I’m glad the tv showrunners are using the books as a stepping stone rather than gospel. 

The main thing they did was age everybody out of their teens. It makes it easier to film with older actors but more importantly it makes it more “realistic” for 20 somethings to be defending NYC, than a bunch of teenagers. 

She should enjoy the extra money in her bank account and go about her business. If she doesn’t want to endorse the show, that’s her right, but the more she badmouths it, the more the show’s fans will badmouth HER.
