For the two good guy prompt lena and Gosalyn
YES!!! I love this idea! The two of them have very similar vibes, but in a different way, if you understand what I’m saying.
I give you…
A Night at the Movies
Originated from this post.
It was a lazy Saturday afternoon in Duckburg. For Lena, though, things were maybe a little too low-key.
Webby was off on some sort of adventure with her family, and Violet was busy doing Woodchucking stuff with Boyd. So naturally, that left her in a bind. She wanted somebody to hang out with.
Then she remembered: Gosalyn. Dewey’s friend from St. Canard. The two girls didn’t know each other all that well, but Lena figured it was worth a shot.
So Lena pulled out her phone, pulled up Gosalyn’s number, and fired a quick ‘Hey’ to her. Then she waited. It only took a few minutes before she got a text back.
Uh…who is this? If you’re trying to sell me some Beakscoin, I’m not interested.
Crap. Gosalyn must not have her saved yet.
No, I’m not trying to scam you or anything. This is Lena Sabrewing.
Shoot! Sorry about that, Lena. Guess I forgot to save you as a contact. Anyway, what’s up?
You wanna hang out?
Today? Like, right now?
Yeah. I’m just kinda bored right now.
Okay, let’s do it. I’ll try and get Launchpad to drive me to Duckburg. Where should we meet up?
I dunno, the park? We can go from there, I guess.
Perfect. See you there.
Lena put her phone down and smiled to herself. ‘Maybe today doesn’t have to suck,’ she thought.
She retreated downstairs. One of her fathers, Ty, was in the living room, reading a book on carpentry projects.
“Hey, Dad?”
Ty glanced up from his book. “Yes, Lena?”
“Is it okay if I go out and hang with a friend?”
“Yes, of course,” Ty replied. “Which one of your friends is it?”
“Gosalyn. Like, I’ve only met her a couple times, but she’s basically part of our group now,” Lena explained to her father. “She’s the one that Launchpad and Drake Mallard took in.”
“Ah, yes,” Ty remembered. “I have not met her, but I certainly trust them enough. I suppose it wouldn’t hurt. Just don’t be out too late, okay?”
“Okay, okay,” Lena resigned. “I gotcha. Thanks, Dad.”
“You’re welcome, honey. I’ll see you when I see you.”
And Lena headed out the door towards the park.
After Lena arrived at Duckburg Park, she had to wait a little before Gosalyn arrived. But it wasn’t too long before a semi-familiar blue car pulled up, accompanied by two familiar faces.
“Lena!” exclaimed Gosalyn.
“Hey,” Lena replied. She waited until Gosalyn got out of the car, and then the two bumped fists.
“Hey, Lena,” said Launchpad.
“‘Sup, Launchpad,” Lena chimed back.
“Okay, Gos, just call me when you need a ride back,” Launchpad continued, turning to face the other girl. “Your dad said not to stay out too late, though.”
“No problem, Launchpad,” replied Gosalyn. “We got the hang of it.”
“Alright. Have fun, you two.” And Launchpad drove away.
“So,” Lena began, “what do you wanna do?”
“Dunno,” Gosalyn replied. “What really is there to do in Duckburg?”
“Definitely quite a bit,” explained Lena. “Not sure what might work for us, though.”
“Let’s walk on it, then,” suggested Gosalyn. And the two girls set off, walking along the various paths at the park.
Admittedly, Lena and Gosalyn didn’t have a lot of options. They didn’t have a lot of money. And they could only really go as far as the bus could take them. They kinda needed to get creative.
And then, Gosalyn spied the perfect idea, hanging on a lamppost.
“Boom!” she exclaimed. “There’s our answer.”
“What is?” Lena asked.
She leaned in closer to look at the poster Gosalyn had found.
It read, “Attention DU community! The Duckburg University Film Department presents…a classic horror double-feature! Alien and Night of the Living Dead. Open to any and all. Saturday, October 17th, 5 PM, on the quad. Admission is free! Refreshments will be provided!”
“Whoa,” said Lena.
“My friend,” Gosalyn replied, “I believe we have just hit the jackpot.”
Lucky for the two girls, the campus of Duckburg University wasn’t too far away.
When they got to the quad, they were rather impressed. Rows of chairs were set up on the grass before a massive projection screen. There was a row of tables off to the side, where students were selling food and drinks.
Lena picked out a couple seats for the two of them, while Gosalyn got some food. She was a bit worried that she and Lena would be taken out due to their age, but thankfully, none of the students working the event really seemed to care that two teenage girls were there; they were mostly focused on making money from the event.
She made her way back over to Lena.
“This totally rocks!” Gosalyn exclaimed. “Dad and Launchpad would never take me to something like this.”
“Something, something, you’re too young?” Lena guessed.
“Well, that, and the fact that they’re just not huge horror fans,” Gosalyn explained. “One time, Launchpad went to see one, and he got paranoid about mole monsters after.”
“No way!” Lena gasped. “I remember that. That was the time that he and Tea Time took me, Webby, and the guys to the movies.”
“Mrs. Beakley, right?”
Lena nodded.
“Damn,” Gosalyn thought out loud. “Small world.”
“Anyway,” Lena continued, “I like having someone else to watch horror movies with. The four boys really aren’t crazy about them, so I usually watch with Webby and Violet. But I can never really tell whether Webby enjoys the movies we watch, or is terrified by them. She just sits there, watching in silence. And Vi has the habit of pausing them every ten or so minutes, just so she can comment on how unrealistic certain parts of whatever we’re watching are.”
“But you put up with it, all the same?” Gosalyn questioned.
“Well, yeah,” Lena answered. “They still mean a lot to me. And I don’t want to force them to change those horror-watching habits. I think it’s just cool to have someone to kinda lay back and just soak the movie in with every once in a while.”
“Well, shoot,” Gosalyn replied, an uncontrollable grin on her face. “Thanks, Lena. I’m still kinda getting used to this “having friends” thing, so I’m glad to hear you say that. I like actually having someone to enjoy these kinds of things with, too.”
“Good, good,” Lena responded. “Ooh, looks like it’s starting soon.” She grabbed a handful of popcorn from her bag and chomped down.
By the time the double feature had ended, the sun had set on Duckburg. The streets were now gently illuminated with the glow of street lights, as well as the cars’ headlights.
Lena and Gosalyn had spent the evening movie watching, joking around, and snapping photos, even posting a few on Quackchat.
“…and then the alien burst out of the officer’s chest!” Lena recalled. “That was awesome!”
“Right?!” Gosalyn replied. “I read somewhere that the other actors weren’t told beforehand what was going to happen with Kane, so those were their genuine reactions.”
“I love it!” Lena exclaimed. “And now it’s an iconic piece of film history.”
The two girls laughed.
“Ohhhh…” Gosalyn sighed. “We should totally do this again sometime.”
“Yes. We should,” Lena agreed. “Your place or mine. Ooh, or better yet, at Casa McMoneybags.”
“Girls’ Night?” Gosalyn quizzed.
Lena nodded, a smirk creeping across her bill. “Girls’ Night. After all, you are part of the girls’ side now.”
“Awesome!” Gosalyn grinned.
Then the two noticed a blue car approaching, one wheel veering onto the curb somewhat haphazardly.
“Guess that’s my cue,” Gosalyn concluded. “I’ll see you later, Lena.”
“Not if I see you first,” Lena challenged.
The two girls bumped fists again, and then once Gosalyn got in, the car drove back off into the night.
As soon as it disappeared out of sight, Lena began walking back home. She smiled in a reminiscing manner. Even though her day didn’t seem too promising at first, she enjoyed how it turned out. She definitely liked spending time with Gosalyn.
She couldn’t wait to tell her dads and Violet.

Hi! I've been mega bored as of late. I remembered that this post and decided to write about it. I'll willingly go to campfire jail for this because it's kinda angsty ngl.
CW: FIGHTING, TRANSPHOBIA, STRONG LANGUAGE, A LITTOL BLOOD AND A LITTOL CRYING
All of those warnings make it seem like this fic I'd really sad but it's not that bad. So..enjoy!
---------------------------------------------------------
Virgil’s classmates buzzed around them with anticipation, waiting for the final bell to ring. Virgil tapped their foot impatient on the school’s white tile as the seconds seemed to drag on for eternity. Their patience was wearing thin and all they wanted to do was run out of the classroom, and soon enough, their chance arrived.
The bell let out a shrill screech, and Virgil threw their bag over their shoulder, not bothering to listen to the teacher’s final words. All Virgil caught was a quiet “Jesus H Christ” of astonishment as they whizzed out of the classroom.
That was why front row seats were the best.
Virgil skipped down the hallway, tapping the straps of their backpack as they swiftly maneuvered in between people. Finally, the weekend had arrived. Standing by their locker was Logan with his nonchalant facial expression and perfect posture. Virgil raised their hand high above their head and waved.
“Logan!” They yelled over a sea of other people’s conversation. Logan’s eyes darted up from their place on the floor and he smiled. Virgil quickened their pace and ran up to their locker. Virgil pounded in their combination with a smile.
“Do you have any plans this weekend?” their friend asked.
“Not that I know of,” Virgil responded, but then they paused as a memory popped into their head, “actually, Saturday me and Roman are going cryptid hunting around 6. Patton’s saying he wants to go so he’ll probably be there too.” Logan nodded along to Virgil’s fast speech.
Virgil reached into their locker and grabbed a book when they suddenly felt someone grab their shoulders and shake them. They let out a shrill scream that shocked the hallway into seconds long silence before people went back to chatting.
“Oh my god!” A familiar voice screeched, “I’m so sorry Virge! I really didn’t mean to scare you.” Turning around, Virgil was met was a familiar pair of blue eyes and mop of blonde hair. Patton Heart. School sweetheart, at home bastard. Virgil gave him a smile.
“You’re fine Pat,” they said with a small chuckle. Patton smiled back at them and rubbed the back of his neck.
“Cool, Cool” he mumbled, leaving a beat of awkward silence as he stared at his shoes before he perked up and cleared his throat, “So Mrs.G gave us an assignment that’s super dumb. It’s like she doesn’t even want us to progress in her class! Literally, who assigns the advanced woodworkers class to make a sphere! The advanced class!”
Virgil rolled their eyes and turned back to their locker. “I hate her,” they responded coldly.
Logan huffed, “She’s like 90 years old give her a break Pat. At least you’ll pass her class.”
“I don’t just want to pass her class though, I want to excel. I can’t excel if she’s giving us 4th-grade level work! Also, I think she’s like 64, not 90.”
Logan shrugged, “90? 64? Same thing. Anyway, I’ve gotta fix this guy’s computer. He’s paying me 100 dollars though I’m pretty sure it just needs to be reset, so I’ll see you guys later.”
“You’re a scam artist!” Virgil called after Logan who simply responded with finger guns before walking off. Patton snorted, “I’ve got cheer, but I’ll totally see you Saturday. Just make sure Roman parks down the street for pick up, you know my dad is a dick”
Virgil nodded, “you’ve got it, dude. I’ll see you later.” Patton nodded and ruffled Virgil’s hair before walking off in a different direction than Logan. Virgil sighed softly and shoved a folder into their bag before shutting their locker. They slung their bag over their shoulder and started navigating their way through the thinning waves of people until they spotted their brother, Dee, standing by the school’s doorway with Roman and Remus chatting idly.
Roman spotted Virgil and smiled. “We’re still on for Saturday right?” he asked excitedly as Virgil raced up to their cluster. Huffing, Virgil nodded.
“Patton’s gonna be there too! Just remember the weird-ass car rule his dad has when you pick him up.”
Remus propped his elbow up on Virgil’s head, though they quickly swatted it away. Dee laughed, “Oh, c’mon hot stuff keep your hands off my sibling.” he said as he grabbed Virgil’s arm and tugged them away.
Remus cackled, “oh c’mon you sexy motherfucker! They’re the perfect height!”
Virgil crossed their arms, “we have this argument every day. Remus, I’m also the perfect height to bite your ankles.” Roman’s eyes widened but Remus just smirked.
“Do it. You won’t” he teased
Right, when Virgil was about to snap back at him a senior walked by muttering something. His friend looked at Virgil with a nasty smile, “Nice skirt tr***y”
Any smile left on Virgil’s face quickly faded, “Oh…” was all they could muster as the boy walked away with his friend, laughing as if what they said was hilarious. The group, however, stood in stunned silence.
Dee sighed heavily, clenching his fist, “How about you go to the car Virge? I’ll be there in a second I forgot something.”
Virgil was now shocked by two things. One being the senior boy’s hurtful words and the other was that his brother wasn’t defending them like he always did.
“Right…” Virgil mumbled feeling tears sting their eyes, “I’ll see you in the car then…” they stepped outside, clenching the straps to their backpack tightly, hoping it would help them control how hurt they felt, “I’ll see you guys later,” they whispered before walking away, dragging their feet.
It didn’t take long to get to the car. Virgil’s mom was waiting on the curb, by the school. Just out of view of the school doors. They pulled the car door open for the front seat and slip in with a heavy sigh.
Annika looked over, concern evident in her eyes, “Hey Virgil. You okay there kiddo?”
Virgil twisted their fingers together and shrugged, “Dee is gonna be back. He’s got to grab something” they said quietly but loud enough so their mom could hear.
---
Dee was fuming. There wasn’t another word to describe it. Maybe he could say he was pissed, but he’d need to add stronger language to get his point across. Instead of immediately yelling at the guy Dee tried to keep his cool. He quickly took in what the guys looked like and then told his younger sibling to just go to the car. As much as Dee wanted to kill the guy then and there, he didn’t want to be even more of a bad influence than he already was. So when Virgil rounded the corner Dee turned to Remus and muttered, “We’ve gotta kick his ass”
“No, yeah totally,” Remus responded, grin growing on his face. Roman was not as enthusiastic.
“You can’t just beat him up!” He exclaimed, “We can just talk it out can’t we?”
Remus rolled his eyes, “Not everything can be done peacefully, Ro. Just leave it to the professionals”
“You can’t just hurt someone because they’re closed-minded!”
“But we can!”
“Okay okay,” dee interrupted, “you’re bickering like you did when we were little. How about this. We can try to talk to them first?”
Remus and Roman glared over at each other. Remus sighed, “Fine.”
Roman smiled and clapped a hand on his twin’s shoulder, “Violence doesn’t solve everything. You’ll see.”
---
They found the two guys hanging out under a tree on campus. They seemed to be joking around with each other.
“What’s up assholes!?” Remus yelled and Roman hit his arm, “Remus!” he hissed quietly.
The group seemed to have grabbed their attention. Looking closer at them, Dee realized one was a guy named Matthew and the other was named Josh. Neither were notorious douche bags but they also weren’t rays of sunshine. Matthew and Josh found fun in picking on anyone younger than them from time to time, like a lot of high schoolers. Though most teens don’t say it directly to their faces.
Matthew looked over at the three boys and rolled his eyes before he stood up. “Where your brother Dee?” he asked, “did he run off?”
Dee sighed and crossed his arms, “Virgil isn’t my brother. You know that you’re being a massive dick right?”
Josh pushed himself up from his spot, “oh, gee. Dude, I’m sorry” he said, sneering at Dee, “do you want me to apologize to your brother?”
“Virgil’s my sibling, not my brother” Dee responded, this time more forcefully, “literally all I want is for you to respect that or at least not be an asshole to their face!”
Josh and Matthew walked over to them, “what are you gonna do about it? Tell your mom”
That was a good question. What was he going to do about it?
“I’ll kick your ass,” Remus said, cracking his knuckles, “and I’ll do it with a smile.”
Roman gently hit Remus’ arm, “what did we promise!”
“We said we’ll try to talk it out. It’s not going to well right now.”
“Jesus Christ Remus…. Just don’t hurt him”
Matthew put his hands in his pocket, “Dee, who said I was just talking to your brother? I could’ve been talking to your girlfriend over here” He used his other, not pocketed, hand to forcefully nudge Remus’ shoulder. At the gesture, Remus shoved back.
Roman tried to grab Remus and Dee, but it only fell apart from there. People kicked and scratched back and forth. Roman, try as he might, didn’t have much to do. He may preach for peace, but there was no way he was going to get a teacher that would evidently get his friend and brother in trouble, no sir. So, instead, he let them brawl it out.
“You hit like a girl!” Matthew called to Remus, “man up and stop being a little bitch!”
And that was the final straw for Remus. He reeled his arm back and
WHAM
Nobody really knows that happened. But there was a loud crack and Matthew shoved Remus away from him, holding a hand up to his nose as blood trickled down his face
“Oh shit,” Dee and Remus said in unison. Dee bolted down the lawn and for a moment, Roman was frozen in shock. Did his brother just break someone’s nose? But he didn’t have time to think before he heard Remus yell, “We have to get out of here Roman!”. Remus grabbed Roman’s arm and bolted after Dee.
---
Roman did not enjoy being dragged around by his brother just like he used to drag him around by his hair. He stumbled along, knowing his brother was much faster than him, and his chest hurt. Even still, Roman was furious. He didn’t care that Matthew and Josh were being rude, that still didn’t give Remus and excuse to break a guy’s nose. Roman didn’t even know where they were running to. It’s not like they were going to get help from a  teacher, they were the ones causing trouble.
Dee looked back and grabbed Remus’ hand.
“Roman! Work with us!” Dee cried, “You have to run!”
And so Roman did. He didn’t want Josh to catch him. So they became a trail of three scrawny guys, running from who Roman assumed to be an athlete by how fast he was. They rounded a corner and Dee seemed to perk up.
“My mom’s car!” he cried, “I think it’s on the other side of the school!”
Roman felt a wave of relief wash over him. That was until he tripped on his shoelace and fell into the grass, letting go of Remus’ hand. He felt his heart rate spike as he quickly pulled himself up. But he wasn’t as quick as he would like to be. Josh grabbed Roman’s collar and pulled him his way.
“Your brother’s a coward,” he growled. Roman tried to push him away.
“Listen, man,” he said, “aside from his breaking your friend’s nose he’s a really nice guy. He just has trouble listening to people. Especially me.”
Josh scowled and shoved the twin to the ground. Roman yelped as he felt something scratch his cheek, but he quickly pulled himself up once more and ran after his brother and friend.
---
He caught up quickly and followed closely behind. Remus glanced back feeling, a tug on his hand.
    “Where- Ro you’re bleeding!”
“Shut up”
Dee let go of Remus’ hand and ran up to his mom’s car hoping inside. Remus and Roman followed suit.
“Drive, drive, drive!” Dee yelled, and Annika didn’t seem to question it. She quickly (and carefully) pulled out of her parking spot and drove down the road. She spared Virgil a glance, but they only shrugged.
“What were you thinking?!” Roman cried.
“I was standing up for us!” Remus defended, “he called us shit names and purposely misgendered us!”
Roman grabbed Remus’ shoulder, “that’s no excuse to break someone’s nose!”
“He was asking for it! It was an accident anyway. I didn’t know-”
“You didn’t know!? You broke his fucking nose, Remus!”
The car went quiet and Roman realized what he said. His cheek stung and he didn’t know what to feel. He was angry at Remus and Dee for getting them into this mess. He was hurt because even though he knew the misgendering was on purpose, it still made him feel dysphoric. He was ashamed because he lost his temper over a stupid fight Remus got in.
“I’m sorry…” Roman mumbled, tears gathering in his eyes, “that was really uncalled for I just,” he sniffled, “I dunno. You guys are frustrating sometimes I guess” he tried to tease. He wiped his eyes before he hiccuped and leaned against Remus’ arm, tears occasionally falling down his cheeks.
After a beat, Annika cleared her throat, “Roman honey,” she said in a caring tone, “how about we take you to my house and clean up that cut on your cheek?”
Roman felt confused for a moment before he remembered why his cheek hurt. He brought a hand up to his face and it came away with a mix of tears and red blood. There wasn’t a lot of blood but Roman’s breath hitched in his throat.
“It’s not too bad,” Remus mumbled, “but it was probably a stick or rock. Those things are nasty.” Roman silently nodded and Remus excepted his response.
Virgil sighed, “thanks for beating up those transphobes,” they said, “but since you made Roman cry I am unfortunately going to have to make you guys watch Les Mis with us.”Remus and Dee groaned
Roman looked over at them, “Since when were we watching Les Mis?”
“Since now,” Virgil smugly replied.

Some Things Are Bound To Be (Chapter Three) - Kyara
Tumblr media
A/N: Me? Actually updating regularly and not letting the months go by? Who would've thunk. This chapter actually took me a lot of erasing and deleting, and there are some scenes that didn’t make the cut, but I like the end result! Hope you guys do too :D This ended up being 4.5K, so it’s quite a treat. A million thanks to @fromthenorthernskies for screaming on the doc beta-ing this chapter!
AO3 Link!
Kyne would be lying if she said she didn’t enjoy having lunch with Kiara; it was way too different from sharing a coffee and sweets in Kyne’s office in the middle of the day. Now they weren’t alone, and they had to lower their voices when they wanted to laugh loudly, but it was nice. She always has a good time when she’s with Kiara.
She learns that Kiara’s favorite color is purple, her favorite movie is Beetlejuice and one day she wants to have a pet chameleon so when she dresses it up, it changes its color to the one of the garment. Kyne tells her that’s something a privileged rich kid would say, but it oddly makes sense - and that if she ever does it, she expects to see a picture.
When it’s time to come back to the office, they walk through the streets with their shoulders bumping and their hands brushing ever so slightly, neither of them having the courage to grab the other’s hand. That’s until they cross a particularly busy street, and Kyne wraps her pinky around Kiara’s. To not lose her, she mumbles, not sure if she heard her. Their fingers stay intertwined even when they make the walk to Kyne’s office, closer than they should be in an empty hallway with space to spare.
They get a few stares, and Kyne feels her free hand twitch. She tries to brush it off and focus on what Kiara is telling her instead. She’s talking about the ball, and how they will go about dress shopping on Friday.
“If you drag me to go shopping before I’ve had a shower, I’m breaking up with you,” Kyne says, coming to a stop in front of the door of her office, letting go of Kiara’s finger. Kyne could swear she saw Kiara look disappointed for a brief moment, but if it happened she doesn’t bring it up. Why would she, anyway?
Kiara laughs shortly, and dismisses it with a wave of her hand. “I’ll pick you up from your place after you get a shower, then we go shopping. That sounds okay?” She asks gently, clasping her hands behind her back. Kyne has noticed she does that a lot when she talks to her. Not that she thinks much about it, or Kiara for that matter.
“Sounds fine to me,” she agrees, smiling with satisfaction. Kiara smiles back, saying she should get back to her office, promising to text her later. Kyne furrows her brow at that, only the slightest bit concerned. “You still haven’t told me how you got my number, y’know. It’s kinda creepy,” she says before Kiara can bid her goodbye.
“If you think about it, I have everyone’s phone numbers at my disposal. Whether I decide to make use of them or not, that’s up to me.” Kiara shrugs, Kyne stares at her for a moment. She hadn’t thought about that.
“You know, sometimes I forget one day you’ll inherit this whole thing,” Kyne comments. It’s not a lie though. She has never met someone as powerful as Kiara that just decided to hang out with her employees instead of all the other powerful people. Sometimes Kyne forgets she could fire her if she got on her nerves, and treats her like she’d treat an old friend.
It seems to work in her favour, though; her friends always ask her how she had struck a friendship with none other than Kiara, the infamous heir of the company that never cracked a smile. Kyne was always skeptical of that - whenever she hung out with her, Kiara was nothing but a giggling mess, not the stoic person her friends, and everyone else apparently, made her to be.
Perhaps she was the only person with the privilege of being able to make Kiara laugh. She wouldn’t mind that in the slightest.
Kiara just stares at her with an amused smile, and Kyne proceeds to explain herself after a moment. “You steal the cupcakes you bring me and always ask me if I have a spare charger, when you have the money to buy an entire cupcake shop and a thousand chargers if you want to,” she explains with a grin, and Kiara laughs wholeheartedly, the slightest hint of a blush appearing on her cheeks.
She’s decided her new favorite thing is making Kiara laugh, not only because it seems she’s one of the few people able to make her smile, but also because she throws her head back, scrunches up her nose and drops the invisible weight from her shoulders. It suits her a lot better.
“Stolen cupcakes are the best cupcakes,” Kiara jokes with a complicit smile. Kyne chuckles, rolling her eyes. “I gotta go for real now, but have a good rest of your day.” She smiles, waving at her, and Kyne waves back.
“Have a good day, and don’t fire anyone!” She jokingly exclaims, entering in her office.
She’s barely settling down in her chair, wondering when Kiara would text her, when Priyanka, Bo, and Scarlett enter without knocking and Kyne sinks in her chair when they all give her curious looks.
In the grand scheme of things, Kyne hadn’t considered the fact that her friends were all but trying to get her to ask Kiara out and scam her to get her money, only for Kyne to always shut them down by saying they’re just casual friends - they said it so often she swore it wasn’t a joke anymore.
They have questions, questions that Kyne isn’t prepared for answering, because she never really asked Kiara if she could tell her friends that this is fake - though she supposses she can’t, if the conversation they previously had means anything.
“Oh, there’s nothing going on between me and Kiara, you guys are just imagining things!” Scarlett mocks, mimicking her voice. Kyne groans, sinking into her chair and covering her face with her hands. “So you lied to our face this whole time? You bitch,” they complain, folding their arms.
“Normally I don’t agree with Scarlett, except now,” Boa pipes up, “Bitch,” she echoes, and Kyne swears she’ll snap her optic nerve by the strength she rolled her eyes with.
“Would you guys let me explain?” She exclaims in frustration. “There should be a category in the Olympics for jumping into conclusions, you all would excel at it,” Kyne comments, cocking a brow.
Priyanka takes a seat in the free chair on the other side of the desk, looking solemnly at her. “Firstly, you know I would. Second, go right ahead, then. Explain,” Priyanka says, cocking a brow in her direction. Kyne looks at her friends, and they all have the same stern, confused look. Shit.
She bites the inside of her cheek, thinking of something to say that’s convincing enough to appease her friends. She knows lying isn’t good, but if she already messed herself up in a lie of gigantic proportions, what would another little white lie do?
“It’s not like I’m dating Kiara, per se,” she begins, “We’re just getting to know each other.” The skeptical looks don’t vanish from her friends’ faces, and Kyne fidgets with her hands under her desk before dropping the bomb. “And she’s bringing me to a charity ball on Saturday,” she muses, speaking fast enough to make her words almost unintelligible. She purposely leaves out the part about meeting Kiara’s parents, because her brain might be good with numbers, but not with coming up with lies on the spot.
“Excuse me, what?” Bo says, furrowing her brow. “Did you just say she invited you to the Starzy Charity Ball?” She asks, eliciting an over the top gasp from Scarlett and Priyanka. Kyne cocks a brow, is this ball of common knowledge? Maybe they weren’t lying when they said the company could be shutting down and Kyne wouldn’t know.
“When did your hoe ass land a date with Kiara Schatzi and an invitation to the Starzy Ball?” Priyanka inquires, sounding as confused as she looks. Kyne would laugh at their collective reaction if she didn’t feel the slightest bit annoyed.
“I am very charming when I want to, thank you very much,” she replies, matter-of-factly, with a shit-eating grin.
Scarlett perches themself against the desk, folding their arms with a childish pout. “So you’re telling us you’ll be at a ball full of rich people, and you still won’t consider my magnificent plan of scamming some of them, running away and not work a day of our lives again?” They dramatize, bringing a hand to their chest.
Kyne snorts, quickly laughing along with her friends. Of course Scarlett takes every opportunity they get to talk about their “millionaire plan” as if it was that easy. At this point, Kyne just brushes it off as an in-joke.
They stay at her office a little longer than they should, trying to get all the details out of Kyne, but she keeps her answers short and concise, not giving much away - though there’s not much to say, really, and she’s not particularly good at lying, especially to her friends. Especially to Priyanka. Kyne swears she can smell the bullshit even before it comes out.
She’s surprised when Priyanka seems to believe her; out of the three of them, Kyne suspected she would be the one to pick up on the plot holes in her story. But she has yet to look suspicious, so she tries not to worry about it.
They finally leave her office when they notice the time and that they should be back to work, but they make it very clear that they want every detail possible about the ball, and that she’s not going to escape their query once Sunday arrives.
“How do y’all know I’m not going to be with Kiara on Sunday too?” Kyne challenges playfully, earning a screech from her friends. She has no idea where that came from, and almost right away she regrets it.
“Damn, you had lunch once and you already wanna climb on her?” Scarlett teases, making Kyne blush on the spot. She tries to stammer out an answer, but before she can they’re biding her goodbye and leaving the office.
The door is shut closed again, and Kyne groans, rubbing her eyelids. Well, that didn’t go as bad as planned, but it certainly didn’t go as smoothly as she would’ve wanted. She hopes and prays that the last line doesn’t find it’s way to Kiara’s knowledge.
Speaking of which, she hears the text alert go off in her phone, and when she goes to check, she bites back a smile when she reads it and sees it’s from Kiara.
***
Friday comes before Kyne can even notice it, and when she arrives at work that day, she feels her hands twitch every so often at the thought of going shopping with Kiara once work is over. They had exchanged a few texts here and there over the past two days, agreeing on an hour and talking about their boundaries when it came to money - though that was more Kyne's doing than Kiara’s.
It's one thing to let Kiara buy her a coffee or a cupcake; it's not that big of a deal, and something she can repay easily. But letting Kiara buy her a dress that costs about the same as her rent is a completely different thing, and she made sure to voice her concern to her to avoid any misunderstanding. Kiara had understood, but she said that, in the slight case a dress caught Kyne's eye and it happened to be expensive, it wouldn't bother her to buy it.
If anything, it's the least I can do to thank you, honey, she had texted her, and the pet name had left Kyne speechless for a couple moments. She had no idea how to answer it, so she just left it at that. Though she thinks about it more than she should.
She's chewing on a pen, reading a report they had sent her with a request to calculate the budget for a new hotel the company was building in partnership with some other rich people. Exciting stuff to do on a Friday morning, basically. There's a knock on the door, and she tells whoever it is to come in. She doesn't even need to look up to know it's Kiara.
A cupcake is settled in front of her, and she smiles when she looks up and finds Kiara staring right back at her.
“Good morning,” she says, sitting in front of her and taking a sip from a Starbucks foam cup. Kyne bids her good morning too, and takes a bite from her cupcake. “Ready for today?” Kiara asks, with a playful gleam in her eyes. Kyne bites the inside of her cheek, fidgeting with her hands.
“I have a feeling that I should be worried,” she comments, chuckling nervously. Kiara laughs shortly, dismissing her with a wave of her hand.
“Don't be, this will be fun! I'm positive about that, it won't be that different from going shopping with a friend or by yourself,” Kiara assures her, but Kyne isn't sure if she should mention that she mostly shops at thrift stores and modifies the clothes she buys by herself, while Kiara probably spends hundreds in one item of clothing.
She keeps her mouth shut, and smiles gently at her instead. "I'll take your word for it, then." Kiara sets the foam cup on the desk, and claps excitedly.
“So, I think we haven't talked about tomorrow, and how we'll get ready together, or if we will get ready together for that matter--”
“Wait, what?” Kyne interrupts her, furrowing her brow. Kiara tells her that she had thought about bringing her to her apartment to do their hair and make-up together before the ball. Kyne plasters a smile on her face, but on the inside, there's a ball of nerves forming in her throat that keeps her from speaking.
It starts to dawn on her that, tomorrow, she'll know yet another face of Kiara at the ball, and she'll have to act accordingly to it. She'll have to hang from her arm like arm candy, talk to people that could buy her entire apartment complex without batting an eye, and actually meet Kiara's parents, whom she had only seen briefly in the hallways and never dared to look in the eye.
Maybe this was a hell of a bad idea disguised at just being not that bad.
She remains silent for a minute too long, and Kiara senses that something is off; she leans forward, looking at her with a tinge of worriedness, and asks her what's wrong. Everything, Kyne wants to answer, but she doesn't find the courage to vocalize her thoughts — besides, she knows it’s too late to back down, and she doesn’t want to let Kiara down.
So she swallows her fears, clears her throat and tries to lie as best as she can.
“I’m kinda intimidated at the thought of meeting your parents,” she says, which isn’t technically a lie, but it isn’t all of the truth either. Kiara’s expression softens up, and she goes out her way to assure her that meeting her parents won’t be as bad as she thinks, that they’re actually great people. But the only thing that flashes through Kyne’s mind is how fast she will be fired once they fake their break up and her boss is mad at her for breaking his daughter’s heart.
Kiara is talking, she sees her lips moving, but the words don’t reach her ears. Kyne takes a deep breath, and tries to concentrate on what she’s saying.
“Besides, you’re already pretty, it shouldn’t take you too long to get your makeup done, right?” She says, giving her a sly wink. Kyne blinks repeatedly before blushing — well, that’s what she gets for zoning out.
Kyne tries to shut down all the negative thoughts, and gives Kiara a genuine smile. Or as genuine as she can.
“I can try to paint fast, I guess,” she offers, biting the inside of her cheek, hoping Kiara hadn’t noticed she wasn’t paying her attention.
Kiara smiles, the conversation goes on and Kyne tries her best to not let her anxiety eat her up, which is easier said than done.
***
It turns out that going shopping with Kiara is fun, despite the initial awkwardness when she had picked Kyne up and neither knew what to say to break the ice. It oddly felt like a blind date, in which you have no idea how your date even looks like, but that wasn’t exactly their case. So after some moments of uncomfortable silence, Kyne had asked Kiara if she had started How To Get Away With Murder like she promised she would do, and the conversation just flowed naturally.
Kiara takes her to the fancy side of the mall, with stores with prices so expensive Kyne and her friends could never afford, so they took pictures of the garments on display and then commissioned Kyne to recreate them for much cheaper. She drags her through three different stores in the span of an hour, searching all over for something that Kyne likes and agrees on the price of - the later was harder than they had imagined. Kyne doesn’t need her degree in math to know that their concept of cheap isn’t the same.
Their hunt in store number three isn’t successful, even though Kiara insisted she tried on a red mermaid gown on sale that would look beautiful on her - which it did, but it was too tight for Kyne’s liking, and it didn’t come in any other size.
“You know, you could buy me some nice fabric and I could wipe out a whole dress overnight. I did that for my high school prom,” Kyne comments as they’re leaving the store, and Kiara cocks a brow, amused.
“Wait, for real? I didn’t know you could sew,” she says, signaling Kyne to keep walking forward. Their hands brush again, just like on Wednesday after lunch, and Kyne wants to reach for Kiara’s hand and squeeze it tight so she doesn’t lose her in the crowd. But she desists from it.
“Yeah, my Lola taught me new things every time I visited over the summer when I was a kid. She says I came out just like her, because my mom can’t even thread a needle,” she tells her with a giggle, remembering all the summers she spent sitting next to her Lola, watching her sew beautiful garments, rummaging through her sewing room and imagining she was an important designer.
Kiara snorts, grinning from ear to ear. “Now I kinda want to see what you could come up with if I bought you fancy fabrics,” she tentatively says, hiding her hands in the pockets of her jacket. Kyne wraps her arm around her bicep, pulling out her phone and scrolling through her gallery for a particular photo.
“If I pulled this in one night out from some fabrics I had in my house, I’m pretty sure I can come up with something for tomorrow.” She shows her a photo of her when she was eighteen, after she finished doing her makeup and was getting ready to go to prom with her friends - looking back, there are a ton of things wrong, except the golden floor length dress hugging her frame.
“You look so tiny,” is the first thing Kiara says, and Kyne pinches her arm out of reflex, sarcastically thanking her for the compliment on her dress. “Your dress is stunning, but I guess you already know that.” She gives her a playful smile, suddenly coming to a stop. “You know what? I have a new idea.”
“Oh god, not another one,” Kyne dramatizes, and Kiara pinches her back.
“This one is actually good!” She protests, and Kyne tells her to go ahead. “I need to know if you can sew another dress overnight, though.” Kiara’s tone grows high pitched, and Kyne puts two and two together rather easily, though she’s a bit confused.
“Either you wanna take me up on the fabric offer, or you want me to make you a gown for tomorrow,” Kyne says tentatively, cocking a brow. Doesn’t Kiara already have a dress? And why would she want Kyne to make her one, when she can perfectly buy some fancy dress for herself?
Kiara insists on her question, asking her to just answer with a yes or no, and Kyne says it depends on the design; it’s not something she can do if the design is something massive and opulent, like she probably wants.
She pulls out her phone with a big smile, quickly opening Pinterest and showing Kyne one of her boards. “My mom actually wanted me to get something very extra, but I said ‘mom, I’m an adult now, I can wear whatever I want!’. But in the end, I forgot to buy a dress altogether,” Kiara confesses sheepishly, but Kyne is too concentrated on the board.
She sees a lot of vibrant colors that would go well in Kiara, and she tries to imagine how long it would take her to create any of those rather intricate designs. Surely more than one day and a half, she thinks - then, one design in particular catches her eye; it’s a floor length dress with a small cut on the left leg, the top half being off the shoulder. It’s fancy enough, easy to make, and it would look great on Kiara.
“I have a royal blue fabric that would go really well with this design,” Kyne comments absent-mindedly, looking back and forth between the photo and Kiara. “It’s expensive fabric though, so I expect nothing short of a royal dress in exchange,” she jokingly says, but Kiara takes it to heart.
“Let's go then, your majesty, we have some shopping to do.” She tugs at her arm to keep walking, with a playful smile on her face. Kyne tries to ignore the fact their arms are still linked, and that Kiara strokes the back of her arm with her thumb ever so slightly.
It takes her two more stores to find a dress that Kyne actually likes and has no complaints about; it’s a deep shade of green, floor length, with a deep cleavage and some delicate embroidery details all over it. Kyne almost rejects it despite absolutely adoring it, all because of the price - Kiara just swipes her credit card before Kyne changes her mind.
The bag feels heavy in her hands, and there’s a tinge of worry in the back of her mind. What if she wastes her and Kiara’s time, and she ends up not liking the dress she makes? She’d be absolutely mortified, not only because she already cost her five hundred dollars, but because she’d hate to let Kiara down.
Her train of thought is interrupted by Kiara asking her if she wants to have ice cream before they leave. Kyne accepts, smiling gently, trying to push her worries to the back of her mind.
***
Admittedly, it's been a long time since Kyne brought anyone outside her friend circle and family to her apartment. It's not as messy as it is most days, and she'd like to think it's cozy enough, with all the pictures scattered around and the potted plants on the windows to make up for the small space. Kiara says something about not knowing she had a green thumb, while she takes off her shoes and leaves them at the entrance, despite Kyne's insistence that it's not really necessary if she doesn't want to.
Having her around feels weird, especially because just a week before all they knew about each other was compressed to the type of coffee they liked and how much they hated corporative meetings. She eases up once Kiara leaves her jacket on the coat rack, loosens up the buttons of her shirt and her hair, flopping onto the couch and asking with a child-like excitement when will they start.
“I need to take your measurements first,” she says, rummaging through her drawers for her measuring tape. Kiara practically jumps off the couch, bouncing with excitement.
“I can't wait to get a custom made dress from Miss Kyne Aguilar herself,” she teases lightheartedly, and Kyne coos.
“Don't get your hopes up,” she deadpans, getting a giggle in response.
Kyne tries to ignore the annoying way her heart beats so fast when Kiara laughs, and she makes her stand very still while she takes her measurements, but she feels Kiara’s eyes following her throughout the whole process. She swallows thickly when she brings the measuring tape up to her hips, writing down her measurements faster than she ever did, trying to ignore the heat creeping up at the back of her neck - though it’s almost impossible to ignore when she places the tape over Kiara’s chest, and now she’s sure her stare is glued on her.
“This should be quick,” Kyne muses, once she’s finished with the measurements, breathing out a sigh of relief when she walks to her cabinet full of her sewing equipment, pulling out basic molds for the top part.
“You know, if you actually can do this, I’m going to be really impressed,” Kiara says, settling on Kyne’s couch again and tucking her legs under her body. Kyne cocks a brow at her, setting up her things at the coffee table.
“I take payment in cash, not surprise,” she deadpans, eliciting a faux offended yelp from Kiara. She giggles after a moment, spreading out the fabric and fetching for chalk in her pencil case to trace the initial patterns. “It shouldn’t be that hard, y’know? Your design is very standard, I thought you’d want something more, I don’t know, fancy.” She steals a glance at Kiara, who cocks a brow and shifts on the couch, dismissing it with a wave of her hand.
“I’m not a big fan of those big, opulent dresses, honestly. I prefer comfort above everything - ‘sides, I'm pretty sure I'd look like a clown,” Kiara comments, watching with interest as Kyne fumbles with the fabric, making sure it's perfectly symmetrical.
Kyne pauses to meet Kiara's gaze. “I mean, have you seen yourself? You wouldn't look bad even if you wore a sack of potatoes,” she says earnestly, and she's not sure where did the courage to say that came from, but the smile that breaks in Kiara's face makes Kyne's stomach twist again.
“Coming from the woman that can pull off every color under the sun, that's a very high compliment,” Kiara compliments back, causing Kyne to blush slightly and dismiss her with a wave of her hand.
The next hours pass in a blur of cutting and sewing fabric, making sure she wasn't pinching Kiara with the pins, and Kyne's heart beating so fast it may come out of her ribcage whenever Kiara's laugh echoes through the apartment.

Playing Off Foul (1/2)
Tumblr media
Notes: I’ve been working off this idea for awhile. I just needed to get it off my chest. I have so much baseball!Killian crap in my WIP drawer and it needs to see the light of day. A special thank you to @welllpthisishappening and @katie-dub for being my support system and for encouraging me to write this nonsense. My apologies to fans of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Carmelo Anthony. My shade is nothing personal. Summary: Emma Swan doesn’t know anything about baseball, only that her son Henry is obsessed and works as a ballboy for the New York Yankees. She has no interest in it, that is until her son gets whacked with a foul ball and she comes face-to-face with the player that hit it - Killian Jones. Rating: T+ Word Count: 4,600+
When it came down to it, Emma blamed David.
Though it had been Neal who had introduced Henry to baseball, it had been David’s fault that he became a Yankees fan. Since the moment he learned that Henry was interest in the sport dubbed “America’s Favorite Pastime,” Emma’s brother had taken to bringing her son to every baseball game he could afford and spending the rest of his money on more merchandise than their tiny two bedroom apartment could afford.
It was David who had told Henry about the ballboy job opening at Yankee Stadium and like a fool, Emma had allowed her teenager to apply. She didn’t think he would get past the application review but two weeks later, Henry had gotten the call in for an interview which was followed by an official job offer and a celebratory dinner at Fazio’s. She wasn’t been sure how was more excited about it - Henry for having an opportunity to meet his heroes and get paid for it or David who now had an inside man on what was really going on in the Yankees’ locker room. Emma had been less enthused about it.
Though the team that spent half of its games on the road, the stadium seemed to have constant need of Henry and it wasn’t uncommon for him to come stumbling back into the apartment at one or two in the morning on a school night. Furthermore, the players had an habit of giving him more money in tips than Henry knew what to do with on top of earning an whopping $21.50 an hour. Emma nearly blew a gasket when she find out one of the players had given her son a thousand dollars to keep quiet about some girls coming into the locker room for a “private tour.” She didn’t want their boorish behaviour and outrageous spending habits rubbing off on her son. She already had Neal to contend with, she didn’t need to add a bunch of immature rich assholes to the mix. However, there were silver linings to Henry working at the ballpark. Being a ballboy required him to be on top of his grades and it kept him out of trouble for the most part. More often than not, his Saturday nights were spent cleaning bases and polishing cleats rather than going to parties. She also no longer had to worry about Henry asking for money to hang out with his friends since he made more than enough to fend for himself. Another added cherry was that nothing pissed off her Diamondbacks loving ex more than knowing their son was working for “the Evil Empire.” Still, Emma didn’t like it.
She especially didn’t like it when she saw “Yankee Stadium” on her caller ID when she was in the middle of a honey-trap operation to catch a guy who had been charged with credit card fraud.
“Hello? Is this Mrs. Swan?” It was a voice she didn’t recognise but he sounded vaguely nervous.
She bristled slightly at bit at the misnomer. “It’s Miss Swan and yes, this is.”
“Right, sorry, Miss Swan, my name is William Smee and I’m a clubhouse assistant manager over at Yankee Stadium. I’m calling in regard to your son-“ “What happened?” Emma cut him off in a clipped tone.
“There was an accident. A foul ball caught him unaware and he was knocked unconscious. An ambulance was called and he’s on his way to Bronx New Lebanon.”
Fear spiked up her spine as he spoke but she tapped it down, immediately going into crisis mode. She couldn’t afford to get hysterical. Henry needed to keep her cool. Before Mr. Smee even finished his last sentence, she had picked up her purse and was shrugging her coat back on.
“How long ago was this?”
“Twenty minutes ago. We wanted to make sure Henry got immediate attention and was looked after before we did anything else. His health is our top priority and rest assured, Miss Swan, the organisation is willing to pay any medical bills or anything-” “I literally do not care,” Emma cut him off again. “Just give me the address.”
“It’s on Tiffany Street, I believe, ma’am.”
Emma got up, so focused on the situation with Henry that she had forgotten all about her “date.” She turned to leave, he reached out and grabbed her arm. Emma hissed when his grip was a little more forceful than necessary, fingers digging into her skin.
“Where do you think you’re going?” He asked rudely.
“My son is in the hospital. I need to go.”
“You have a son?”
“Yes. He’s fourteen and was just in an accident at Yankee Stadium. Now, let me go.”
“Look, Emma, I don’t know what your malfunction is but I know a lie when I see one. You’re wearing an old ass dress and false stones after all. How about you sit down and actually give me a chance. I’m a really nice guy with some cash to burn.”
“Listen, dude, let me go and I will forget about this.”
“Or what? What are you gonna do me, sweetheart?”
Emma let out a short humourless laugh. This guy didn’t realize how lenient she was planning on being. When she heard Henry was in the hospital, she had decided that she would let this skip go and focus on her son. Now, she wasn’t going to be so generous. On top of being a massive credit scam artist, he was also an asshole and she wasn’t going to let that fly.
She pulled out her cuffs and attached one to his wrist faster than he could blink. He stared at his wrist dumbfounded while she attached the other end to his seat. When he tried to take off, Emma tripped him. She watched in smug satisfaction as the chair landed on top of him. She placed a heeled foot on top of it to keep him in place as she took out her phone once more and called her brother. He picked up after the second ring.
“Is Henry okay?” He asked immediately, not even bothering with pleasantries.
Emma blinked in surprise. “You know about that already?”
“Yeah. It was just on ESPN.”
“Shit.”
“Where is he? I saw him get pulled off. He okay?”
“I’m heading to Bronx New Lebanon now,” Emma replied, applying more pressure on the man beneath her foot. “I need a big favor though. I need you to pick up a Mr. James Graves from Piccola Cucina.”
“On it.”
“Fuck you, bitch!” The skip growled.
“Hey! You had your chance!” She snapped back. “You should have just let me go and see my son!”
The maitre d’hotel came over with a cautious expression, holding his hands up in front of him as if he was approaching a wild and dangerous animal. Emma flashed him a smile in hopes of defusing some of the tension. He gave a tentative one back.
“Is everything okay here, Miss?” He asked nervously.
“Hi. My name is Emma Swan. I work for Nationalwide Bail Bonds Agency. This gentleman, and I use that term loosely, missed his court date and there’s a warrant out for his arrest. There’s an officer on the way. I needed to leave like twenty minutes ago because my kid is in the hospital. So, no. It’s not okay.”
The maitre d’hotel’s eyes went wide and he glanced between her and the man underneath her boot a few times, looking entirely unsure on how to handle the situation. Emma sympathised. This wasn’t the type of joint that was used to rough clientele and this wasn’t normally the sort of spot that Emma would bring her skips but James Graves had insisted on this spot, probably in an attempt to impress her into sleeping with him.
“I’ll going to talk to someone...I will be right back…”
“I’ll be here,” Emma muttered bitterly, taking out her phone and glancing at the time. She didn’t want to leave Henry alone in the hospital.
“You could still let me go...and see your kid...and I will be willing to forget all about this…” James Graves wheezed from under her.
Emma rolled her eyes. “You had your shot, buddy. You blew it. Now, you’re going to hang tight until Officer Nolan comes.”
The maitre d’hotel returned four minutes later, two large stocky men flanking him. Both were wearing black shirts and white aprons that were covered in grime;  the customary mark of someone who works in the back of a restaurant. Neither of them looked happy, both eying Emma’s skip with disdain.
“Miss, I know you need to leave so I talked to some of the boys in the back who are willing to babysit your friend until the authorities arrive so you can get to your son.”
It was the nicest thing a stranger had ever done for her. She gave them her first genuine smile of the night.
“Seriously?”
“Absolutely. We’ll keep an eye on him. Go see your boy… and perhaps come back for some eggplant parm when you’re able.”
With her skip issue settled, Emma raced to where she had parked her car.  Her eyes nearly bulged when she saw a parking ticket tacked to her windshield but it was nothing she couldn’t sort out with David later. It was just another annoyance and one that she needed to set aside until she saw to Henry.
The drive to the Bronx was as painful. It was as if the some unmerciful god knew how stressed she was and decided to add to it. FDR Drive was backed to hell with bumper-to-bumper traffic. She watched in frustration as the ETA on her Waze app crept up minute by minute, screaming against her steering wheel. If only she had gotten a Hummer instead of a Volkswagen Bug, then she could just crush everything in her path and be with her son already.
It took her nearly an hour and twenty minutes to get to Tiffany Street and then another ten minutes to find parking before resigning to put her car in an overpriced garage that only took cash. The men at the lot were unsympathetic to her plight. They rolled their eyes at her explanations, telling her to that the local convenience across the street had an ATM and to come back when she could actually pay them.
Needless to say by the time she finally got into the hospital, Emma was in a foul mood and was ready to go to war with anyone who got in her path. Her anger must have been plastered all over her face because anyone who saw her gave her a wide berth and the nursing staff seemed to shrink under her gaze when she demanded to know where her son was. She didn’t care what anyone thought of her. She just wanted to know her kid was okay.
She was led down the hall by a harassed looking nurse who was trying very hard to make small talk with her but Emma was having none of it. The nurse stopped towards the end of the hall and gestured to the last room, mumbling something about seeing to other people. She paid the woman no mind though.
She was surprised to hear laughter coming from her son’s hospital room. It wasn’t the laughter of a teenager but rather a grown man, one she didn’t recognise. Frowning to herself, she entered the room to find her son sitting up in bed and playing cards with a stranger.
Henry’s face brightened when he saw her.
“Mom! You made it! Did you get your guy?”
Emma didn’t acknowledge the question. Her attention was focused on the man sitting at her son’s bedside. He appeared to be the same age as her and dressed in the most expensive pair of sweats that she had ever seen. The New York Yankees logo was emblazoned across his chest and his sleeves were rolled to his elbows, exposing muscled forearms. He had messy dark hair and well-manicured stubble that seemed to enhance the line of his jaw. He was giving her a tentative smile and brushing his hands against his knees nervously. In the back of her head, Emma acknowledged he was incredibly attractive but she was more concerned with who the hell he was and why he was in her son’s hospital room.
“Who the hell are you?”
“Mom!” Henry sounded scandalized.
“Ermmm…” The man ran one of his hands through his hair. Emma noted the massive scarring that seemed to encompass webbing between his thumb and index finger and seemed to radiate in angry lines across his knuckles. He stood up and held out his other hand for her shake. “Killian Jones.”
She didn’t take it. Instead she crossed her arms in front of her chest and raised her eyebrows at him. “Is that supposed to mean something to me?”
Henry let out a loud groan and looked like he was about have a fit.
“Mom! Are you kidding? He’s the best second baseman in the league! He has the highest on-base percentage and leads the AL in stolen bases! He’s, like, one of the top twenty best hitters! How do you not know who he is!”
Emma glanced back at the proclaimed baseball superstar and squinted a bit. Now that Henry had mentioned it, he did look a little familiar. She was pretty certain that he had seen his profile on her son’s bedroom wall. Though, he looked more intense on the poster than he did in real life. If anything, he now looked awkward and embarrassed. Killian’s face flushed under the praise and he took back the hand he had held out in order to scratch behind his ear.
“I’m pretty sure Jose Altuve would disagree with you on the best second baseman thing.”
“Okay, maybe not the best second baseman but you’re up there. You have an insane record in double plays and you play for the best team in baseball,” Henry conceded, picking up the deck of cards that had been scattered across his rollaway table.
“I appreciate the show of team spirit, Henry.”
“Okay, I get it,”she said, cutting into the bizarre display of male bonding that was happening in front of her. “What is he doing here?”
Both Henry and Killian looked uncomfortable at the question, the two of them exchanging glances. Emma felt her stomach tying itself in knots. She had a feeling she was not going to like what they had to say.
“I just wanted to make sure your boy was okay…” Killian replied slowly, as if he was trying to choose his words carefully. “...and you know, make sure that there was no hard feelings or anything…”
“Excuse me?” Emma narrowed her eyes at him.
“It wasn’t your fault, Killian. It was a foul ball. I should have been paying attention more.”
“Perhaps but still, I would never forgive myself if anything bad had happened to you.”
“You’re the one who hit my kid?!” She hissed, looking at him with murder in her eyes. She was five seconds away from decking him in the face.
Killian seemed to sense her aggression because he put his hands out in front of him in surrender. “Not intentionally! I promise!”
“Right,” she replied in a clipped tone before turning to her son. “Do you mind if I borrow Mr. Baseball here for a moment so we can have a...chat?”
Emma wasn’t certain who looked more nervous, her son or the professional baseball player who was shifting in place like a guilty toddler.
“As long as you promise not to kill him… if he dies, we, for sure, won’t make the playoffs this year.”
“Glad to know that’s all my life is worth to you, Henry.”
“Just being honest.”
She gestured for Killian to follow her out into the hallway. He followed her but she could see the clear reluctance that embodied his stride. He reminded her of the children who sat in front of the principal’s office, waiting to be screamed at. She closed the door behind them, so Henry wouldn't listen in on their conversation. She leaned against it, crossing her arms in front of her chest and glaring at him.
“What the fuck are you doing here?”
He looked startled by the question. “I already told you. I’m here for your boy, Mrs. Swan.”
“You say that but I know how you assholes work. Everything with you is image. Henry keeps a tight lip on what happens in that locker room but I know that you and some of your buddies pay him to keep quiet about the nasty shit that goes on in that.”
“Pardon?” His lips formed a thin line. His nerves were giving way to irritation but Emma didn’t care.
“You heard? I’m not an idiot. You‘ really not here out of any concern for my son. You’re here to cover your ass and keep up your good guy image. I will not have you use my son as a publicity stunt.”
“Publicity stunt?” He repeated. He looked positively offended by her words. “Listen, Mrs. Swan-”
“It’s Emma. Not Miss Swan, especially not Mrs. Swan,” she cut him off. “I’m not married. Everyone at that fucking stadium always assumes I am. It’s annoying.”
“Alright, alright, fine, Emma,” he conceded, looking more frustrated. “I’m not here for a publicity stunt. Do you see cameras? Reporters? Any media specialists?”
“No,” she admitted.
“That’s because no one knows I’m here. Especially not any reporter. If anything, I’m in big trouble because I skipped media. I didn’t tell anyone I was coming here except one of the base coaches and only because he asked where I was going.”
“Aren’t you going to get in trouble for that?”
“Most definitely,” he replied with a nonchalant shrug.
“Then why are you here?” she whispered again.
“I don’t know how many times I have to say it to you but I genuinely like your son, Mis-Emma. He’s a nice kid. He’s always got a smile on his face and never complains or asks for anything except what else he can do...some of the ballboys after a while try to cut corners or try to go out partying with the team but not Henry… he’s been with us just for this season and it feels like he’s always been there…If he had been seriously hurt…” Killian paused, rubbing his hand over his jaw and looking distressed by the very idea. “...I was serious when I said I would never forgive myself.”
Emma studied him for a moment, sighing and pinching the bridge of her nose. She felt slightly guilty about accusing him of using Henry in such a way when he seemed so earnest in his attachment to her son.
“I didn’t want him to take the job,” she admitted. “He’s got enough going on… And now this...”
“I know.”
She looked up at him, slightly startled. “What?”
“Henry told me you were apprehensive about letting him work in the clubhouse… he thinks you only allowed it to piss off your ex.”
“Henry told you that?”
“I don’t think you understand how closely your son works with the team, love. Like I said, he’s a good kid so I tend to gravitate towards him instead of the others...we talk a lot about things...from freshman baseball tryouts to his writing...”
“You know about Henry’s writing? Henry doesn’t talk to anyone about his writing, not David, not his father.”
“Well, I think he’s more open with me about it because I’m admittedly a Babylon Five and Stargate Atlantis junkie so he’s more comfortable sharing things with a fellow nerd… from what I understand your ex was quite disparaging of his Doctor Who obsession...not that he has much taste, considering he’s a Diamondbacks fan.”
“You’re a sci fi nerd AND a professional baseball player?”
“They aren’t mutually exclusive,” he teased. “What? What did you think we only watched ESPN or Fox Sports or something?”
“Honestly, yes.”
He chuckled, shaking his head and smiling at her. Her breath caught a little and her stomach did annoyingly flips that it hadn’t done since high school. She was stunned how she went from wanting to murder him for hurting her kid to literally squirming at the sight of his face. She needed to get a hold of herself.
“We should probably go back in,” she replied. “You know, so he doesn’t think I murdered you and the team’s playoff chances…”
“Probably a good idea.”
Henry looked anxious as they opened the door, craning his neck to see past Emma. His shoulders visibly relaxed when he saw Killian, alive and well, behind her. She couldn’t help her snort of amusement.
“Did you honestly think I was going to kill him?”
“With you anything is possible, Mom. You did almost run over Carmelo Anthony that one time..”
Killian’s eyebrows rose as he regarded her with a look that was equals concerned and amused. “You almost ran over Carmelo Anthony?”
“That’s not my fault! He was on his phone and walked in front of my car!” Emma defended. “He’s lucky that I have amazing reflexes and was able to stop in time or else he would have been out for all of 2016.”
“I think at that point Knicks fans would have thanked you. I’m pretty they were trying to get rid of him by then. He was a cancer to the team,” Killian responded with a smirk.
“You follow basketball too?”
“I follow most major sports, love. Except maybe golf. But that’s because I firmly believe if you can drink and smoke while playing it, then it isn’t a sport,” Killian remarked.
“Babe Ruth used to eat, drink and smoke between innings,” Henry teased.
“That’s because Babe Ruth was a baseball god and could do whatever he wanted.”
“If you say so.”
Killian gave Henry a light shove in response. He sat down in his original seat and picked up the neatly stack cards that Henry had been fiddling with.
“Do you want to play another hand?”
“Only if Mom deals in,” Henry smiled.
“I can play,” Emma responded, taking another chair and sitting next Killian. She miscalculated the distance between them, causing her knee bump against his. Emma was vaguely surprised when neither of them pulled away from the accidental contact. “As long as I get the official story of what happened.”
Henry’s face turned red and ducked his head down, focusing on the cards Killian was dealing.
“Okay….so with foul balls, we’re supposed to give them away to fans. And when we say fans, they mean to give them away to the little kids. You know? The four to ten-year olds. Anyway, there was this family and they had two kids and the older kid really really really wanted a ball....so I gave him one and the other kid who was maybe three, I think? I’m guessing he was three, anyway, he threw a big tantrum and I just wanted him to be happy and have a good time so I decided to give him the next ball that came our way...So that’s what I did. And this kid, I don’t think he understood that you’re supposed to keep it because he threw it back on the field...The long and short of it is that I was supposed to be paying attention to the batter. You’re not supposed to do anything but watch when someone is in the box because of safety reasons but the kid threw the ball and I went to pick it up...and the next thing I knew I was on the ground... So really, it’s not Killian’s fault, Mom. It’s mine. And I’m probably going to lose my job over it.”
“You’re not going to lose your job over that, Henry,” Killian said, placing a hand on his shoulder. “Things like this happen. You’re not the first and you probably won’t be the last ballboy to get hit.”
“You sure?”
“Absolutely,” he responded, picking up his cards.
Emma was more focused on her son than on the card game, looking at him in concern.
“What did the doctor say?”
“That I have a mild concussion. They did tests and say I should be okay, but they want to keep me overnight for observation,” Henry shrugged.
“They did tests!?”
Tests and an overnight in the hospital? She could only imagine what the hospital bill was going to look like. She highly doubted her crap ass insurance plan would do much to cover the costs. She was going to be paying this off all year. She could feel it.
Killian seemed to sense her distress and played a hand on her arm. She jumped slightly at the contact.
“I’m pretty sure the organization is going to foot the bill, love. And if they don’t, I will. You don’t need to worry.”
“We’re not a charity case,” she snapped.
“I didn’t say you were. It’s just the right there to do.”
They didn’t talk much after that, instead focusing on the card game that they had started. Henry was pretty much sweeping them both but Emma had a sneaking suspicion that Killian was losing on purpose, trying to make Henry smile and laugh. It was strange to see someone interact with her son like this outside David and Neal. It did funny things to her insides.
Killian stayed with them past visiting hours, using his charm and clout as a professional baseball player to keep the nurses from kicking them out. It wasn’t until his agent, an imposing woman in a well-tailored pantsuit, came and pulled on the back of his sweatshirt, did Killian leave. Emma didn’t know who was more upset, she or Henry, that he was going.
“You’ll see me sooner than you think,” he told Henry, ruffling his hair a bit and causing the teenager to scowl at him. “You’ll be working at the clubhouse again before you know it and we still have to work on your swing. If you’re not a starting baseman by next year, I will eat my shoe.”
“I’ll hold you to that,” Henry replied smartly.
Killian’s eyes cut to Emma, smile softening. “Will I be seeing you around?”
“I don’t know, do you plan on whacking my son in the head again?”
“Hopefully not,” he chuckled, ducking his head a bit.
“Then maybe…”
“Just maybe?”
“It’s better than no.”
“Too true,” he chuckled. “Well, I look forward to maybe seeing you around.”
Henry hit her in the shoulder as soon as Killian was out the door, smirking at her. “You were flirting with Killian Jones!”
“What? I was not!”
“You were too! And he was flirting back! I saw you!” he crowed. “Wait until Uncle David hears this!”
“You’re not telling Uncle David anything because nothing happened!”
“Suuuuureeeeee Mom.”
“Shut up,” she said, giving him a light shove back. “And you should be resting.”
“And you should have gotten his number.”
“Henry. Sleep.”
It turned out that Emma didn’t have to ask. Next afternoon there was a large package outside their apartment, containing a large display of flowers, a personalized New York Yankees jersey with ‘Swan’ on the back, a pack of baseball cards and an index phone with a handwritten message: Just in case, you want to make that maybe a certainty, give me call: 212-921-2012 - KJ

Sunday Summary // 27.01.2019
Now a lot of you were eager to have a work gossip update because you lot are as bad as I am, you want to gossip and eat cake. Well, the source of our gossip last week was centred around Christmas holidays and managers being hypocrites. There was also someone who was using potential lies as an excuse for making mistakes. Both of those are ongoing but are gossiping ways were all good until Friday (it always happens on a Friday) when all the drama occurred.
First off, we totally got paid late. The anthem of Friday is below:
youtube
We obviously spent a lot of Friday obsessively checking our bank accounts and waiting for an update on when our wages would appear. Let me tell you, a party was about to be thrown Friday afternoon when my bank balance showed the appropriate amount of 0s… or you know, any money in it really.
My good mood was shattered by certain people being dirty hypocrites (again). Did I ever tell you about the time my colleagues and I were pulled up on apparently excluding others from our department? Probably not because this might have occurred during my hiatus. But it happened and we didn't think we were doing that but obviously apologised and made an effort to make sure folks didn't feel that way... then the dickheads have repeatedly excluded us instead (why yes, they are ugly hypocrites and why yes I am still pissed about it). But we still tried to be friendly and be the bigger people. And then Friday afternoon after we'd emailed asking if they wanted to enter a work charity event as a team they replied saying they'd already entered as their own team and hadn't even thought to ask us. Well, I'm all like hell no bitches I will rip your hair out in the carpark. Considering our supervisor pulled us out like children to tell us off because they felt hurt by our actions I am not even up for their hypocritical bullshit. I don't care that I've descended to playground mentality I want it brought up especially as their supervisor was aware of their actions. I am so done.
So yeah.
I bet you're all now sorry you asked.
But apart from workplace bullshit, I’ve had a good week. I've been buying all the films because it's Mega Movie Week so I've seen a few films this week, including Rough Night and Skyscraper and I have Crazy Rich Asians waiting for me to watch. Have you guys seen the Fyre Festival doc? I watched it Saturday and what is that craziness? How did that even happen? This is the toxic nature of things like Instagram and that. It just reminded me of that Twitter thread I keep checking back up one with that Instagram influencer and her 'lectures'. There are so many scams now where we are promised the lie of the ideal perpetuated on Instagram and social media in general. It’s just sad really and hopefully, this era of social media will end because I am so not up for folks continually selling the lie.
To comfort myself in my ridiculous week I’ve not only been movie shopping, but I have also ordered the prettiest boots which will.hopefully arrive next week. The picture is below so fingers crossed they arrive soon. I can't wait to stare at my sparkly feet.
What I’ve Been Reading
I think I've had a pretty good reading week. I mean, I've genuinely enjoyed everything I've read lately. I was fancying some historical romance at the start of the week and almost reread some Tessa Dare but decided to do a browse of my unread Kindle books and discovered What Happens In Scotland which I bought in April 2017! I am glad I read it because it was a very enjoyable read, I have a few other books by her as well so I need to start those! I then decided to read another book which has been on my Kindle for far too long, Wait For It. I should never put off reading Mariana Zapata books, they may be long but I always love them. The queen of slowburn struck again and it was such a hit for me. But now I’m in that weird ‘I’ve read an awesome book and have no clue what I want to read next’ funk. I did pick up Sandman Vol 1 in the hope that a good graphic novel would cleanse my palate a little. It didn’t put it was good and it’s always good to use my Kindle Unlimited subscription. My luck with two older books on my shelves has made me want to write a post on other books I’ve put off reading and see if I enjoy them as much too.
New To Me
Amazon is doing a Valentine’s Day sale (I know, we’re still in January, but who am I to say no to romance?) and I saw Outlander on there. I have read Outlander, I, in fact, own a physical copy of Outlander, but it’s just easier to read long books in ebook format I think. And obviously, I borrowed a book and actually read it!
There was only one ARC for this week as well. I need to read it before the start of February so maybe I should make this my next read? But as soon as I thought that this instantly became the last book I wanted to read. Sophie Kinsella always writes fun romances, I’ve not read the past few releases from her so I’m excited to come back and read another.
How has your week been? Am I being dramatic and immature about those work colleagues leaving us out? And recommend books to me, maybe I’ll discover what I fancy reading next.

Sorry not Sorry
Chapter 5
Summary: A random number wakes you up early on a Saturday morning. But it doesn’t stop there. The stranger keeps on sending messages, and you have no idea what is happening, when you start to develop feelings for the unknown person.
Pairings: Tom Holland  x Reader [submit your name: How it works]
Y/N your Name
Y/F  your friends name
Word Count:  2159
Part 1  Part 2  Part 3 Part 6
Warnings: There will be swearing for sure, lots of sarcasm
A/N: Here we go with Part 5 of Sorry not Sorry. Its getting more personal between Reader and Tom and we are slowly working ourselves to the middle of the Story. So dont worry, there is still plenty to come haha  Thank you all, for liking, reblogging and sending me all these nice comments about this fic. It really motivates me to write more :)
The last couple of days have been a huge pain in the ass for you. Not only did Tom barely Text you, but you also had a tough time at work. Earlier, it was Tom’s Birthday and you sent him a message, that you wished him a good time and that all his wishes may come true for him. You know, just the usual stuff you text when its someones birthday. He did thank you for that and asked for your day too, but his answers were bare and short. He seemed to be either busy or wasn’t interested anymore in texting you and since you trended to be a pessimist, you thought that he might have had enough of you in the first place.
That was until you had a breakdown once you arrived back home from an awful day at work, which made it even worse when you had a fight with Y/F and lost your Oyster Card. You chose to text Tom because there was no one else you wanted to rant about your problems right at this time.
You:  Do you sometimes have these days where you wanna throw everything away and leave the country?
You sent the message and dropped down onto your bed. It wasn’t late and the sun shone brightly through your windows this afternoon but it didn’t light up your mood. You’d be down for some dramatical rain right now, but the weather decided against it as if it tried to tell you not to worry about it. As you lay there, your mobile buzzed and you grabbed it immediately, still being on the bed.
Not Tom Hardy :(: You need a one way ticket to Cambodia?
You smiled softly at his response and typed as quickly as you could. You really needed to get out this negative energy that had been building up in yourself.
You: absolutely. I’ve been having the worst day ever and I don’t know who to talk to… except you. So, I’m sorry to bother you with my problems, but I really need to get it out
Not Tom Hardy :(: don’t worry about it. I’m sorry you’re having a bad day. What happened?
You: I just messed up everything today. The whole week has been terrible so far anyway but today was the cherry on top. I had an argument with a client, that kind of ended bad and I think we lost this person as a customer for future bookings. And afterwards I totally forgot to meet up with my best friend and I let her wait for me for an hour and she called me and I didn’t hear her calls because my phone was on silence and when I called her back later, she was furious and mad at me. I couldn’t even explain myself for having a bad day. And to top it off… I even lost my oyster card. Only realized that, when I left the train station today and couldn’t sign out. I hate everything
Not Tom Hardy :(: Calm down Y/N everything will be alright.  Just because you had an argument with a customer, doesn’t mean you do a bad job at work. I bet your boss appreciates you and your hard work. Sometimes, people can be shitty and we all do mistakes, don’t forget about that. And about the fight with your friend: Apologize. Invite her over for a movie night and dinner. If she’s your friend, she’ll understand.
And Oysters are replaceable. It’s annoying that it happened, but you can get a new one and even if you had an amount of money on it, it can still be transferred as far as I know.
Reading this immensely long reply from Tom made you feel so much better. It was like a relief, that he told you all these positive things. It didn’t solve your problems, but it made you see clearer through them. And he was right. People tend to make mistakes and it’s natural, you shouldn’t be so harsh on yourself. You re-read his message a few times, tears welling up in your eyes only because you were an emotional mess right now.
You: Thank you, Tom. Thank you so much, you’re right. I shouldn’t have freaked out in the first place but you really helped me.
Not Tom Hardy :(:  Don’t worry about it, as said. We all have bad days from time to time. And if you ever need to rant again, I’m here and I’ll listen. Or read. Either way is fine lol
 You: Thank you.
After the little talk with Tom the other day, you felt a lot easier. You kind of accepted the fact, that he was busier than before since he was up with something. There was a weird feeling in your gut about this guy but you shrugged it off whenever your brain decided to think about it. You got your Oyster replaced the other day and also apologized to Y/F. She was still mad when you showed up at her apartment, but couldn’t hold it for long as she saw you apologize. You explained your day to her and she understood and hugged you. “Next time just check your phone more frequently. You did that with the Tom guy too”, she scolded and you laughed it off, promising you wouldn’t miss any of her calls again. The stress at work settled down as well, especially after you had a long talk to you boss about the other day, where you just got off and stormed out the building. He wasn’t mad at you or the circumstances, he just wanted to make sure that you were alright and he’d be taking over the problem with the customer. You were so grateful for his understanding, that you nearly started crying. You kept a straight face but you could tell your eyes were watering up quickly. As you got off work early that day, you decided to stroll a little through the centre of London. You haven’t been at Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus for a while and you kind of needed the busy and crowded place to clear your mind from the past few days. As you got off the tube, you walked up the stairs following the masses of people as they all exited the station. Once you came out of the building, you turned right and walked to the public place, where people from all over the world were hanging out. Leicester Square had many cinemas and you wondered, which of these had the most visitors. You’ve only been to the Vue once with some friends when the Maze Runner movie was out in Theaters. Other than that, you’ve only been at some premiers here, to glance at some of the actors who walked over the red carpets.
You got yourself some Ice Cream from Haagen Dazs and kept on strolling over the Leicester Square as you finally realized all the film posters, spread out over the whole place with the same picture on it over and over. ‘Spiderman’, you read and smiled. You were happy to finally see the new movie soon, but it would only come out in a few days, so you had to be patient. Somebody didn’t seem to have that treat as your phone buzzed.
Not Tom Hardy :(: Have you seen the new Spiderman yet?
You: No Tom. It’s not out here yet.
Not Tom Hardy :(: Aw man you gotta tell me how you like it!
 You: Such a Fanboy
Not Tom Hardy :(: Let me be
You: Ill make sure I grab Tickets once its out
Not Tom Hardy :(: Good girl!
You giggled and stuffed your phone back in your pocket, eating your Ice Cream and making your way over to Piccadilly Circus. Summer in London was amazing. But to be honest, every season was beautiful, as you could experience them all for a few weeks.
It was dark outside as you exited the Cinema together with Y/F. The sky black with a few dots of stars shining as bright as possible over the city lights of London. “Even though he’s so young, he did an amazing job”, you heard Y/F say and smiled. While she kept on talking about the things she liked and disliked about the film, you took your phone out to send a certain person a message. He was probably waiting for it anyway.
 You: It was good
These were the only words you typed into your device as you walked to the train station to drop off your best friend who lived in a different neighbourhood. “I still can’t believe, that Tom made you this present. It was such a nice surprise”, Y/F said, walking at a faster pace because she knew her train was about to arrive soon. “Yeah, I still can’t believe he got me two tickets for this movie. I don’t even know how to thank him”, you explained and checked your phone once again for an answer. You couldn’t believe your eyes first when you got a confirmation SMS from an Odeon Cinema, saying that the Screening for Spiderman Homecoming was successfully booked. You thought at first, that it could be a scam or some stupid advert, but then Tom messaged you, telling you to not forget to send him your opinion about the movie. Now, you just wanted to be a little mean again with the text you send him minutes ago and it seemed to work when you got the answer back after Y/N has said her goodbyes. Your friend walked through the Ticketmachine and left you, shouting a loud ‘bye’ as she took the stairs to the platform.
Not Tom Hardy :(: Good????  Only Good??
You: I liked it. But I’m not used to such a young actor playing Peter. I also miss Tobey though…
 Not Tom Hardy :(: He’s 21…
 You: Oh, your Age! Lol
Not Tom Hardy :(: You’re just old and bitter
You: Excuse me? I’m not old
Not Tom Hardy :(: I bet you have grey hair already
You: Yeah, because you get on my nerves every day
Not Tom Hardy :(: omg
You: brb. Gotta count my grey strands of hair
Not Tom Hardy :(: I wanna see that lmao
You: Let me know when you’re in London and I’ll arrange something
Not Tom Hardy :(: That was easy. Just booked my flights
You stopped in your movement and stared at your phone, as your mouth fell open. Was this a joke or did he really book a flight from wherever he was back to London? You didn’t believe him. He was probably joking, right? Right??
You: youre shitting me?
Not Tom Hardy :(: Does this look like a joke?
And then the next second suddenly a file was sent to your mobile. A Screenshot of an online booking for an upcoming flight to London. You could see his Name on it but he drew over the Last Name, so you couldn’t get his Identity. You didn’t care about that, though. You were shocked as you saw the ticket number and date and destination, as well as his name.
You: Bloody Hell, I think I need that ticket to Cambodia now
Not Tom Hardy :(: See you next week!
 You: You ARE joking, right?
You were still hoping for this to be a gag but it seemed that Tom really meant it when he said he was coming home. A few days ago you thought, you wouldn’t mind if you’d meet him somewhere in town by accident but now as this thing seemed to become a reality, the thought of meeting him made you nervous.
Not Tom Hardy :(: No :)
You: How long are you staying?
Not Tom Hardy :(: Couple of days. Have some appointments to attend and need to spend some family time as well. Will definitely be some busy days and I might not be able to answer much
You didn’t know if you were relieved that he was so busy or if you were lowkey jealous that he couldn’t talk to you on a regular basis. Especially now since you both shared the same piece of earth underneath you. You tried to play it cool but your heart jumped a little, once Tom answered your next text.
You: That’s okay. I don’t want to force you to keep me entertained every day
Not Tom Hardy :(: Oh you’re not forcing me. I’m actually enjoying it quite much
You: You shouldn’t. You’d miss my sarcastic shit probably
Not Tom Hardy :(: That’s true. Anyway I have to go. Ill talk to you later
 You: bye.
With that, he was gone for the day and you arrived at your door, with a pounding heart and red ears. You felt so warm, and your chest was moving heavily in excitement. Tom was coming to London and you had to admit, even though it made you nervous and terrified, there was also a little spark of excitement.

Orientational Adventures
Now that I’m in my apartment, I guess I’ll write a blog post about my orientation time.
We stayed at the Princesa Plaza Hotel, which was a pretty nice hotel. My biggest complaint was on days that I didn’t have orientation, having to leave so housekeeping could clean the room, but that’s mostly just me being lazy.
It started when I dragged my stuff from my AirBNB near Sol Station down to the metro, and to the Arguëlles station. This proved difficult since I haven’t quite figured out the whole thing with finding the metro elevators yet. So after having the drag my suitcase up multiple flights of stairs, I noticed that I had exited the metro station from the furthest exit from my hotel, so I walked down the street and to the hotel.
I was ultimately worried because they had advised us to check in from 3-6 if we were already in Madrid, and this was like....noon. It worked out fine though. There were a few orientation leaders in the lobby directing people where they needed to go. Basically we needed to collect our orientation folder for CIEE, which contained the orientation itinerary, and our orientation meal stipend of 60€. After we got our folder, we checked in with the hotel itself. I was in room 465. Once I got settled into the room, I did what I always do. I took a nap.
Just a tip of the trade, and I’m thankful that I figured this out in Italy so that I didn’t have to ignorantly ask someone how to turn the lights on. There is a slot by the room’s door where you’re supposed to put your room key. This enables you to use the lights. I guess it cuts down on the electricity usage or something. But in my case, it would probably just result in me forgetting my key and being locked out. Because of this, I’m going to tell you (and I honestly probably shouldn’t) that any card works. I had a spare “Tarjeta Transporte” (transport card) that my landlord had given me that didn’t have anything loaded onto it. So yeah, if you’re like me, and are extremely forgetful, that’s something to ultimately keep in mind.
I was the first one to my room, and my hotel roommate wasn’t there yet. I wasn’t told who it was going to be, so I was ultimately curious. I sort of figured it out though, because there’s a guy in my program that had friended me on Facebook prior to coming to Spain, who had a flight arriving later that day. It turns out that he was my roommate. He eventually got to the hotel at 6 PM, with a LOT of luggage. If ya’ll are reading this and eventually plan to travel, pack light. It helps ;) No shade on you, Elie :P
Part of my intentions with this trip abroad was to actually develop the basics of a social life, which I have thus far been unable to accomplish. However, this Monday was not the day to do it. A lot of the participants in this orientation had just arrived in Madrid and were as jet lagged as I had been over a week prior, so I assume they all probably slept away some jet lag.
When it came time to fall asleep, I’m very finicky about how I sleep. I meant to ask my roommate if he minded if I used white noise, but he was fast asleep and snoring by the time I thought of it, so I just turned it on and it went fine.
So the next day began day 1 of orientation. When I took my shower that morning, I had to let the water run for a minute, because it was brown. No idea why, but it cleared up after like 10-15 seconds and was fine for the rest of the week. Went to breakfast, which was much more food than I could eat in my current condition. I got bacon and eggs, but I didn’t know that we were supposed to be served by employees, so I began to scoop it myself before I was promptly told otherwise. I managed to only eat like one piece of bacon and a few bites of egg. The egg had cream or something mixed in, so it was overly rich and I didn’t really care for it that much.
Our orientation activity scheduled for that Tuesday was a walking tour of the city. I’ll include the little bit of pictures that I took when I get to that part of the story. So first, I’ll say (and this is mostly for my own sake) that I was in orientation group #14. There were about 30 groups because they had to stay small because of COVID.
My orientation leader is a dead ringer for Clara Oswald from Doctor Who. Like, it astounds me how similar they look to each other.
I don’t know a lot of specifics about where we actually went, but I’m gonna try to piece pictures together chronologically.
We walked down the street from the hotel, and went to a park. We saw this statue of Queen Isabel
Tumblr media
We stopped at a place where we had a really cool view, and we did a quick “getting to know you” thing. I’m not a big fan of these kind of things. My go to fact before this summer was that I don’t know how to swim or ride a bike. Now, my fun fact is that I’ve had a gastric bypass, but I honestly feel like I talk about it too much. I might be overthinking things, but hey, it is what it is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We saw this hotel along the way to finding the Palazzo. VVVVVV
Tumblr media
And this governmental building that I honestly don’t remember what it’s for:

And then we found the Royal Palace of Madrid:
Tumblr media
After seeing this, we went towards the Teatro Real, which is right across from it. I later realized that we were super close to my AirBNB and that I had seen the Teatro Real earlier in my Madrid days.
Tumblr media
We went to the 100 Montaditos next to the Teatro Real, where I had a sugar-free iced tea. We went through Sol, and saw parts of the different neighborhoods throughout central Madrid. My hotel roommate almost got scammed by someone who handed him a sprig of rosemary and demanded money. We saw this thing...
Tumblr media
And then we proceeded to explore the different neighborhoods. Overall, we were out and about for like 4 hours. I was surprised that I lasted as long as I did without issue, but I managed it.
After that, I don’t really remember doing much else that day. I’m pretty sure I took a nap. That was honestly about it. I think I might’ve used a delivery app for the first time to get a Subway. But other than that, nothing of note.
The next day was a doozy. Breakfast was the same, and would continue to be the same for the whole week.
We went on another walking tour, except this time we took the metro to Sol and went from there. We went to Plaza Mayor.
Tumblr media
And got coffee in a cafe shown in the left of that picture.
Then we explored more neighborhoods of note, saw the cathedral next to the Palazzo:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also got a cool view of the Palazzo.
Tumblr media
We ended up in the neighborhood of La Latina, where we sat at a cafe and got food and drinks. I didn’t get food because it all seemed like either too much food, or stuff that I should have. I got a bottle of mineral water and nurse it the entire time we were there.
My orientation group decided that they would meet up with the afternoon group (we were in the morning) that my orientation leader had. I went too. When we left the initial cafe, we went back to the hotel. My orientation group went bar hopping between our orientation and the next, but I did, again, what I always do. I took a nap. Can I just say that siestas are amazing. Like, a designated time of day useful for a nap. That’s my kind of thing. I can dig it.
So, around 6ish, my orientation leader messaged our WhatsApp group and my orientation group said they were by the La Latina metro station, so I proceeded to go there, where I met up with them. We met the afternoon orientation group and went to a different cafe. The waiter at the new cafe was very outgoing and friendly. I tried to order a drink without carbonation and without sugar. At first he only heard the no sugar part, so he was going to offer me a Coke Zero, but I repeated myself and what he brought me was called Aquaade, which isn’t carbonated, but most definitely had some sugar in it. It’s kind of a mix of lemonade with Gatorade. I also had a slice of pizza from the pizza place next door, which was honestly my first pizza since before my liquid diet, which was at least like 4 months.
Through the course of the night, I stayed sober, which I would often do anyway, but even more so with the surgery. But I gotta say, watching drunk people while sober is almost as entertaining to be honest.
So I proceeded to socialize, which is honestly the most foreign thing to me so far. I just have never gotten the hang of that aspect of being a human. My natural state of being is to do what I’m currently doing: being a cave gremlin, sitting in a dark room looking at a computer screen.
Throughout the night, I was saying that I could act as a “designated pedestrian” which only one person took me up on, mainly since we were both going back to the hotel and I knew how to get there.
So that was quite an interesting day.
The next day was the last “orientation” day, despite us having the rest of the week with the hotel. For this, we just talked about the paperwork and bureaucracy that we had to deal with to get our Spanish residency. I then went to do part of the process, where you go into a bank to pay the fee and they stamp the document to bring to your appointment. I went to one bank, where they told me they couldn’t do it, so I went to next closest bank, who said they would do it, but that the timeframe was Monday to Thursday from 8:30-10:30. It was around 11 AM when I went.
Then I napped. Again.
I wanted to continue to try to socialize, but nobody was really answering me on the group chats. I got a little peeved. But I later found out that there was a group chat on the app GroupMe that I wasn’t on where people made plans, so it’s all good.
That night, I went and got a 1€ tapas from the 100 Montaditos down the street. I gotta say, the portion sizes for the 1€ tapas are perfect for me. This bag is legit smaller than my hand.
Tumblr media
I got a garlic pork with mayo sandwich thing that was the size of a finger food sub, with like 4 potato chips.
Friday I don’t think I did much of note to be honest.
Saturday I met up with a person in my program that was in a later orientation than me, who took me to an organized picnic for people that were in her orientation, so I met a few more people with CIEE, as well as a couple from other programs. We went to Retiro Park, which is a huge beautiful park. After the picnic, we walked a bit, and ended up going into a taco place near Plaza Mayor. I didn’t eat any tacos, but I had a sugar free iced tea. I conversed, which is part of that whole socializing thing that I’m attempting to expand upon and learn more about.
After the taco place, most of the group disbanded, but I went with two of them to a rooftop cafe, where I had an orange juice. Once we were done there, it was a girl in my orientation and a guy from a later one, so he went back to his AirBNB and the girl and I went back to the hotel.
The most I accomplished on Sunday was bringing my suitcase to my apartment so I didn’t have to lug it around on Monday, and boy am I glad I did. I brought it to my apartment and I chatted with my two roommates for a bit. It was also the first time that I had ever taken an Uber, because I was NOT about to drag that suitcase back down to the metro.
Oh Monday. What a friggin’ day Monday was. We were told in orientation that we had to get a COVID test on Monday at the earliest. And my biggest regret of that day was not going earlier. That day was when we checked out of the hotel, so I had my backpack of stuff on me. I had a polo and shorts on, and it was a bit brisk, but nothing horrible. I went to Unilabs, which we were told gave a discount to auxiliares so that it was only 85€ which we could get reimbursed for. If it cost more than that, we could only get reimbursed 85.
Anyway, I got there and saw a few friends from my program at the front of the line, and I saw the line was relatively long, so I went to the back of it. It curved around the corner, and moved really slowly. My initial place in line was by a hedge thing. I used that as a progress marker. After an hour and a half, I had made it about 20 feet. A few people of note were a guy in front of me from CIEE, who had not yet checked out of the hotel, so he had to leave to do that, and a older Spanish couple, who I could barely understand, but seemed just as irked as I was.
FIVE HOURS. I stood in line...... for FIVE GODDAMN HOURS to get this COVID test. The “bit brisk” weather I had previously mentioned, gets pretty damn cold after 5 hours in it. And this is a bit of a rant, but if you’re in that slow of a moving line, DON’T HOLD UP THE LINE BY SITTING DOWN AND NOT MOVING WHEN THE LINE MOVES!!!!! It happened numerous times and it infuriated me every single time.
I almost thought they were gonna close for an hour like their open hours say. I got there at 9 AM, and I got into the lab at 2 PM. After I got tested (the first test I’ve had where they swabbed both nostrils), I then went to my apartment. I took the metro from Moncloa to Embajadores, where I had to take a Cercanias (train) to the Orcasitas station. I got on the train going the opposite direction, which I realized and changed sides. When I got to Orcasitas, I met with my landlords’ son, who gave me my keys and I paid my first month’s rent to. Then I got settled in, which is where I am now, one day later.
I’m gonna wrap this up, because I feel like I’ve been writing forever, but that about sums up my time at orientation.

Previously
And that’s when you see it, a black dressed man with a phone to his ear eyes directly at you. To anyone else it looks just like anybody, but to you, you know it’s one of them.
“STOP THE CAR RIGHT NOW!” you yell out and you can feel your chest press against the seatbelt as the car comes to a stop.
The car is filled with confused screams and voices.
“What the fuck Y/N!?” Rapmon yells from the driver’s seat. You ignore him and look towards the lamppost where you saw the man standing earlier. But he was not there. Am I starting to be delusional?
“I swear I saw him” you mumble to yourself.
“Saw who?” Yoongi asks looking in the same direction as you.
“I saw him” you repeat, still in your own world ignoring the others.
“Who did you see Y/N? There’s nobody there” Yoongi says as he looks there too.
“Can somebody tell me what’s going on and why I stopped in the middle of the road?” Rapmonster demands.
“Just keep on driving, we don’t wanna start a scene” Yoongi answers and look at you and then at the place where you’re staring at. He grabs your shoulders and shakes them lightly, which makes you snap out of your thoughts. Confused eyes meet confused eyes, you stare at his brown eyes with your eyes furrowed. The car starts rolling again.
“Who did you see?” he asks again, still calm though. You just shake your head in response and move back to your seat. All eyes were on you, your eyes met Rapmons through the rearview mirror, his eyebrow cocked up as to ask wtf is going on.
Maybe you just made it all up in your head... You haven’t slept well and you’ve been awake for a couple of hours now. You shake your head, you were sure you saw him.
“I’ll start driving again okay?” Rapmon asks and starts driving slowly.
“No, or... go to a parking lot or something” you say and he listens, driving to the closest parking place available - which was the one outside a McDonald's. All the while your eyes scam the surroundings, scared they’re there.
It was early May two years ago. Your dad had always warned you that he’s always watching. But how? Of course you didn’t believe him so that’s why you found yourself walking another way home. You weren’t stupid, you wouldn’t pull something without knowing if it was true or not.
You had your sunglasses on, so you could look around and research stuff without people seeing it. An old couple walked towards you hand in hand and you smiled at them and greeted.
And that’s when you saw it.
There, beside a black car you could see a man dressed in black, wearing sunglasses too and looking in your direction. You didn’t look at him directly, but you could see him at the corner of your eyes. You have to make sure he doesn’t notice you noticing him.
His eyes followed your every move and when you were about to turn around the corner you saw him taking up a phone and then walking to the side of the car and entering it.
-
When you then came home your dad barked from the living room “Why are you late?” he demanded.
“I was held up at school a bit” you lied. It’s just for checking...
“I know you’re lying Y/N. Tell me the truth or else” he threatened and you could hear him getting up from the sofa and walking to the hall where you stood. He had a beer bottle in his hand and he walked towards you with big steps.
“I just wanted to look at a house that one of our teachers talked about today so I took another way home” you said, still not telling the whole truth. He almost looked disappointed with your answer as if he waited for the opportunity to beat you up “fairly” as he would call it.
“Next time you tell me if you do it. Or else I will have to lock you up again” he threatens before dropping the beer bottle on the floor making it break. You nodded and then ran up the stairs to the bathroom.
“Don’t drive to Hobi’s house” you say and keep your eyes on the mission of looking for one of them. Everyone can sense that you’re on edge and start to look around trying to see what you’re looking for.
“Why?” Jungkook and Rapmon asks at the same time.
“Just don’t do it, uhm... it’s hard to explain but I don’t want them to know where you live...” you continue, not feeling at ease at all. Where did he go?
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Jimin asks while turning around from the passenger seat, genuinely concerned. You nod without really paying any attention to what he just said.
"Are you guys hungry? I’m hungry” you say, not wanting to stay in the car for too long either “Call the other car and ask them to come here” you order. They all look at you and then at each other but then Rapmon nods and Jungkook calls Jin.
When the other car arrives you all go to the restaurant. The guys from your car all give you sceptical looks but you try to play it off. The restaurant was packed which made you breathe out of relief.
The other boys were more cheerful and soon it had passed on to the other members. You’re still looking out the windows a bit, making sure you still have time and that the coast is somewhat clear.
“Y/N?” fingers snaps in front of your face and you turn to the owner of them. You look at Tae with big eyes, he has that boxy smile that you came to really enjoy under the few hours you’ve spent with them. “What do you want to eat?” he asks and you look at him with big eyes. Shit I don’t have any money on me.
“Uhm... I don’t have any mone-” you’re cut of by one of his fingers on your lips.
“I was asking what you wanted to eat Miss Y/N” he says dramatically, just as fast as he jumped into the roll he returns to his normal self “Plus you really think we would’ve let you pay? Follow Jungkook and Suga and find a table” you stare at him with big eyes.
“Ey V, what’s taking you so long?” Hobi yells from the line. When did he get there? You then notice how the whole group is standing there except for you and V.
“Oh, uhm... I’ll take chicken nuggets then” you smile and the boxy smile returns.
“Will be my dear” he bows and then joins the others talking to them and suddenly two other boys joined you.
“Let’s find a table” Jungkook says and drags both you and Yoongi with him, a bunny-like smile attached to his face. It wasn’t so much ‘find a table’ more like Jungkookie dragging you and Yoongi towards a table that he chose. It was a booth close to a window so you didn’t complain.
Jungkook tried to make you sit closest to the window but you shake your head letting him take the seat furthest in. You then sat down next to him and Yoongi sat next to you.
“I’ll go see if the other guys need some help” Yoongi excused himself and left you and Jungkook alone.
“I-” you both say at the same time and laugh a bit awkwardly. “You first” Jungkook says and scratch the back of his neck.
“I really need to go to the bathroom” you excuse and he just nods. You walk out from the booth, but instead of going for the bathroom you move towards the exit. Your eyes scan the place looking for the other boys hoping they don’t see you. They’re still in line laughing and not paying attention so you quickly slip out - you thank your luck that there’s a lot of people there making you blend in more.
You walk to the car and open the door to the passenger seat (that you learnt never could close since Rapmon once broke it - what a surprise). Inside you look for a pen and paper and start to write.
Dear Yoongi, Jin, Namjoon, Hoseok, Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook.  I’m really sorry I’m leaving without really explaining why. But it’s easier this way - the less you know the better.  Just... Don’t come look for me okay? Pretend like you never met me, that I never existed. It’s for your own safety so please, just... If you see me at school, don’t talk to me. If someone asks about me, you’ve never heard of me ok?  It’s very very important.  I’ve never had so much fun in my life, at least not what I can remember so thank you all for that. For making me feel normal again.  I may have just met you but I thank you so much.  It was nice knowing you...
- Y/N
You feel the tears wanting to break out but you use your sleeve to dry them off. You fold the note and then put everything back to where it was. Now where to put the note? You close the door and as soon as you turn around you’re met with none other than Min Yoongi... In shock you drop the note and just stare at him.
“What do you think you’re doing?” he asks and you follow his movements as he picks it up “What’s this?” he asks and your eyes widen as he’s about to open it. You snatch it back from his hands and hold it tightly.
“What are you doing here?” you ask panicking a bit and looking around. There’s still a lot of people moving back and forth which makes it harder for you to see if one of them are here.
“I think I’m the one who’s supposed to ask that...” one of his brows lifts up and and he looks at you suspiciously.
“I-” you sigh and look behind him.
“I told the other boys I also went to the bathroom so spit it out now”
“Okay, promise to not interrupt and do as I say. No complaints.” you quirk your brow up suggestively.
“Depends on -” you cut him off “No. You listen and comply.” He sighs and gives a tired “Fine” before crossing his arms. Just as you’re about to open your mouth you see him again. The man dressed in black, he’s looking frantically around him trying to see you but you’re hidden behind Yoongi.
Shit.
You take Yoongi’s arm and he almost yells in surprise, but you hush him and pull him behind some other cars. He looks at you curiously and you put your finger to your lips keeping him down. You lift your head a bit to look for the man and you can see him a bit further away. You then return down to Yoongi.
“Okay, so I don’t have much time... I wish I had but I don’t, so take this and don’t read it before you’re back with the boys okay?” you look up again and see that he’s walking towards Jin and Rapmon’s cars just a few cars from where you’re at now. shit shit shit.
“Spill the beans Y/N” you can clearly hint that he’s getting a bit frustrated, but also his confusion and worry.
“Okay so listen to me very clearly. I have to go, and I probably won’t come back. Do as the note says ok?” you look at him and he’s about to open his mouth “No buts! Listen, you can’t return home until the coast is clear and pretend like you don’t know me if someone asks. This is of great importance okay?” you say and you check on the man again, he’s almost by Jin’s car now.
“I really wish we had more time. But... I have to go” you look up again and now he’s by Jin’s car inspecting it a bit. “Read it and remember what I said, if someone asks. Say you don’t know me, the coast is probably clear when they leave-” you check up again and you see that he’s by Rapmon’s car.
“I have to go... thank you for everything and tell the boys the same” you say and hug him tightly before letting go and running off into the mass of people but then slow down to blend in a bit.
Yoongi’s POV
I look at the note in my hand and then up again, just to see her back disappear into the crowd.
What the fuck did she mean by that? I look over the car and towards the direction she kept on looking towards and I see a black dressed guy walking around the car. Could that be what she meant?
I look at him for a bit before walking towards him, the note securely put in my pocket. The closer I get the weirder he seems. He’s dressed in black from head to toe with sunglasses and a phone to his ear. I try to hear what he says but can only get fractions.
“Gone... maybe this car... No I’m not sure... Are you sure this is the car?” I can make out... Are they talking about Y/N? The man takes a picture of the car and then continues to talk.
“Hold on - Hey you” he says when he notices me. I look over my shoulder to see if he was talking to me well duh but I have to play it off. Something is not right...
“Is this your car? I think I saw you in it earlier... When you got out of course” he asks and “saves himself” from looking too weird. He then whispers into the phone before hanging up. Wait... He saw me earlier? I think back to where I could’ve possibly been seen with this car. Because it was obvious he didn’t see me step out of the car. Then it hits me this must’ve been who Y/N saw... Are they chasing her? What is going on?
“Uhm no, it’s my friends car” I explain and look at him a bit suspiciously.
“I’m uh... Rob and I’m glad I met you! I’m wondering if you’ve met anyone named Y/N? It looked like she was in your car earlier but I might’ve been wrong” he asks and it’s definitely what Y/N was talking about. I remember what she said. Her panicked face really means this isn’t good at all.
“Nice to meet you too. Uhm I don’t think I have... We only had... Mindy with us” I say and try to pretend like I’m searching through my mind. He looks at me suspiciously and I have to do something. “Do you have any picture? I might have seen her” this Rob guy nods and pulls up a photo of Y/N. This isn’t creepy at all.
I inspect the card thoroughly and shake my head “No I don’t think so... sorry. She has the same hair colour as Mindy though... Maybe you saw wrong?” I suggest and Rob looks a bit frustrated but hides it well.
“Well thank you for your time sir and sorry for interrupting your day” he bows and then walks the same direction as you did. What the fuck is this and who is Y/N? So many questions, but no answers. I sigh and walk back to McDonald’s to join the boys.
“Why did you take so long? And have you seen Y/N?” Jungkook asks and looks up at me.
“About that...” I pull up the note and start reading it loudly in front of the rest of the boys.
“Dear Yoongi, Jin, Namjoon, Hoseok, Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook...”
A/N: Okay so this was a really long one ^^ I hoped you liked it, tbh this story took a turn I did not expect so we’ll see how it turns out! I hope you enjoy the long part and I can’t promise the next will be as long, but have patience!
Remember I update every other saturday at 10pm my time (CET +1). (odd weeks)

Insurance adjusters... how much can I expect to get for my car?
My car was stolen and I don't expect it will be recovered. I was curious about how much I can expect to get from my insurer. The loan is paid off, so I will receive 100% of the total offered by my insurer. Please see the car details below: 2002 Dodge Intrepid SE, 4 door 104,000 miles V6 automatic power doors, windows, driver seat cd player a/c I know I won't get the retail value. I feel a fair private seller price is about $4500. My research shows the trade in value is about $3600. I feel I should get something close to the private seller value as I know I won't get the retail value but should get more than trade in value. Is this a reasonable expectation? Input from actual insurance adjusters is appreciated. Given the car and miles, how much do you think I'll be offered?""
Will my auto insurance go up?
I am a California San Diego resident. Four days ago, it was raining very heavily and I was driving a carpool lane on the freeway at about 60-65mph. All of a sudden my car hydroplaned and spinned 360 degrees about 3times and then it finally stopped when my car's rear crashed into the concrete median. FORTUNATELY, it was 4am and this accident did not involve anyone else. I had to leave the place like nothing had happened, because I was on my way to the airport. When I arrived at the airport I looked at my car's rear and the bumper and trunk was heavily damaged. Now, I am in a foreign country enjoying my vacation. My questions are following: (1) Will my insurance go up if I report this accident to my auto insurance? I have a full coverage. (2) Will I be in problem if I report this accident when it has been 4days? I really had no time until now because I had to fly and then settle a problem over here in Asia. Any thoughts/opinions are very welcome! Thank yoU!""

What is a car insurance raise depend on? ?
Hello, I come here because everyone I ask just tells me not to worry about it and I JUST WANT TO KNOW! Sorry if this is way too long. I don't want to miss anything. Anyways, I got into a minor accident recently. When I say minor, I mean minor. I bumped them at a red light because I scooted up without looking. Didn't even touch the gas. This is my first accident. I'm twenty years old. When I went to look at our cars my car was a little scuffed, nothing that a little buffing couldn't take off. Their car, was even less. One of the passengers (there were 5 adults total, two children sitting on laps) claimed his back hurt. I was in panic mode as the driver told me that we could handle this without contacting insurance. Later I came to my senses when I realized that this guy with the back injuries was going to keep coming back to me asking for more money, so I told them to call my insurance agency. My question is, does anyone know in the state of Florida what determines how much your car insurance goes up? His injuries (not positive but almost positive) are not bad enough to go into my bodily injury. His PIP should cover it. For example, will your insurance go up based on the damages you have to pay for ? Since I made very VERY minimal damage, will my insurance only go up a little ? Thanks for reading my giant ramble and thanks for responses. Sara""

Getting a car insurance even if you don't have a car?
I am 17 years old and turning 18 in 2 months. I have a permit in the state of New Jersey. Last Sunday, I made a small car accident. It was just few scratches on the other person's rear bumper. Anyway, the guy from an insurance company told my parents that I have to get an insurance as soon as i get my license even if I don't get a car. My parents can't afford to buy me a car anyway so I was planning to drive their car since I wouldn't have to get an insurance if I drive their cars. Can anybody explain to me why I have to get an insurance even if i am not getting car? And also, is there any other way I can solve this problem other than not getting a license? Is it better to buy cheaper can than expensive car?
I love expensive sports cars, but I don`t need to have it, I can just watch those at museum, stores, and photos. I think buying cars is waste of money. It costs money to buy cars, car insurance, gasoline, and parking ticket. Also cars get stolen lot , it can break easily by car crash, some bad kids will scratch it, and high risk of death. Using train is way cheaper. If I really need car, I would stick with least cheapest car. Because when my car got stolen, or broke, I have less things to lose.""

The Sequel - 865
A Joint Thing
André Schürrle, Juan Mata, other Chelsea/BVB players, and random awesome OC’s (okay they’re less random now but they’re still pretty awesome)
original epic tale
all chapters of The Sequel
“Stop. You don’t even have to give the speech. I don’t want to talk about it. Tomorrow, yes. Not now.”
“Okay. Whatever you want.”
“What are you doing?”
“Figuring out how to send hay and grain for the horses and livestock affected by the hurricane in Texas. The flooding is so bad. Did you eat? I had a strip steak because I was starving. I got one for you too though. If you want it. It only takes a few minutes on the grill.”
I want 20 things and none are a strip steak, no matter how superbly she could probably cook it, André rued after Christina nodded at the mostly empty plate beside her Macbook in the study. There was one piece of broccoli left on it alongside some discarded fat. It was Saturday night, and he just got home from the match, and he pretty much hated everything until that very moment. How sweet is she. Does her two hours at the stadium to see me play like the Invisible Man for 55 minutes and then makes herself dinner for one, to eat while she works on helping abandoned or homeless animals. And she has that face like her mind is going hundreds of kilometers a minute to figure out what to do or say to me to erase that I am currently useless on the football pitch and hurt all the time.
“I had dinner in the ice bath. Who are we helping? One organization or a bunch of little ones?” The player walked the rest of the way into the cozy study decorated primarily with books, and pushed the back of his chair from one side of the partners’ desk to the other so that he could sit beside his girl and see what was on her screen. She slid over a bit to her left, and then leaned back over to the right to kiss his cheek. If not for the distraction of the coverage of the hurricane drowning greater Houston under an unprecedented tonnage of water, Christina would have been totally consumed by her sympathy for her partner and his frustrating struggle to show his quality and worth at the Westfalenstadion. He was simply a body to bounce the ball off now and then during his minutes that evening. The whole team was rather slow on the ball, and one-dimensional. André couldn’t make or take any chances, and he seldom even had the opportunity for nice interplay with his black and yellow teammates. The three points were secured for the home side, and their #21 didn’t do anything costly or embarrassing, so it wasn’t a complete loss, but he looked and felt irrelevant and disappointing. His girl wished she knew how to help him turn it on again, or even just how to get on the right path to it. Injuries and good form by others meant it had been nearly a year since he enjoyed an uninterrupted spell in which to build and flourish. His struggle was breaking her heart, and demolishing his spirit. Her instinct was to make him talk about it instead of brush it off for “tomorrow”, but she knew what it was like to be in his shoes too, and knew he needed a cool-down period before it was worth encouraging him to share his burden with her.
“That’s what I’m trying to decide. The ASPCA is doing a lot but I’m not sure if they’re doing livestock or just pets. USEF has a fund going just for horses. I’m looking for, like, if some group is taking in otherwise homeless horses and caring for them while their owners can’t. I’d like to send supplies. I don’t like just giving money to those big groups because I don’t know how much of it actually helps the animals, or how long it takes.” The horsewoman moved her dinner plate aside so that she could lean on her elbow on the desk and sigh while André scrolled through the pictures she found on Twitter.
“Why don’t you make a post saying that you’d like to help, and see who responds? It shouldn’t be too hard to verify and not get scammed. Your Twitter has a big reach,” he reminded her. “I’m sure people will tell you who is doing what.”
“Yeah, I guess. I’m going to need someone who knows what’s going on and where I can even get hay and grain sent from, and how to get it to whoever needs it. I emailed someone I know at USEF to find out what they can tell me. I’ll wait to post until I hear back from her. Hey, are you sure you don’t want anything?” Christina watched him watch a rescue video on the screen, and reached for his fuzzy cheek with the back of her hand. He turned and offered a small but reassuring smile.
“We had pasta and chicken. I’m not hungry, Prinzessin.”
“Do you want anything else? Couch? Bed? Fire pit? Movie downstairs?”
“Didn’t you want to begin your Game of Thrones education tonight?” the footballer yawned.
“Yes but actually I want to save that for tomorrow because it’s supposed to rain aaaaalllllllll day and Lukas has a playdate at Nuri’s- all the kids do- I think it’s someone’s birthday but I forget- and so it’s the perfect afternoon for us to get embedded on the couch and watch a bunch of episodes at once. I even made watermelon salsa for the whole grain tortilla chips.” Christina blinked at him with big, round, welcoming blue eyes, and just that little hint of hopefulness in them- her hope for him to be into her plans- was enough to help him feel just that little bit better about everything. Instead of expressing excitement about her Sunday agenda, he decided to tease her.
“You’re sending him to a birthday without a gift?” he asked with mock incredulity.
“Tugba only just told me about it at the game!”
“Did you get to tuck him in?”
“No,” she frowned. “Espen said he watched most of the match though. He made you something today,” Lukas’ mom smiled back. “It’s upstairs. Want to see?”
His dad nodded and followed her to the master bath, to check out the little platinum blonde’s art project. It all started when Espen arrived for work with a tie-dye kit and some cheap t-shirts. She was joining some new friends from her apartment block on a sort of bar crawl/drinking scavenger hunt that would stretch from brunch into the evening. It was a team competition, and her team was all going to wear tie-dye shirts. The others were getting together on Saturday to make theirs but since she had to work she just got her own supplies and made it into a fun activity to do with Lukas. Christina couldn’t resist joining in. They filled horse buckets with the water and dye and taught Lukas how to bunch up the shirt and add the rubber bands. After he saw the results on a his-size shirt, he wanted to make one for Daddy. It had to be yellow, because his “Daddy shirt” was yellow. Espen showed him how to draw on the adult-size white tee with fabric markers before they prepped it for the dye. He attempted a dinosaur and several humans of varying sizes and proportions. They weren’t all entirely recognizable as people. The finished product looked like a terrible children’s doodle made into a shirt instead of refrigerator art. He wanted to put it in the dye twice to deepen the yellow hue per Espen’s recommendation, so Christina hung it in her shower to dry because the dark tiles wouldn’t get stained.
“I think you should let him give it to you in the morning,” she explained to the lucky recipient of the haute couture piece. “He’ll be so proud and happy.”
“You think? Wouldn’t he like it if I just wear it?” André loved his ugly shirt. He loved that his son thought of him when he wasn’t around, and wanted to make him something.
“You can wear it after he gives it to you. I think you’ll look sexy in it, babe.”
“For some reason yellow doesn’t do for my eyes what it does for yours.” He pointed a cheeky smirk at his girl while holding the shirt up to his body.
“It’s really not your color.” She wrinkled one side of her nose and shook her head, and inadvertently reminded him of the things he didn’t want to talk about. I never look good in yellow. That’s the truth, he huffed inside. BVB shirt on, all talent, composure, and intelligence, gone. I just look like a jackass. “We tried to make it a darker, more flattering shade for you.”
“Mhm. Should I put it back in the shower? It seems dry.”
“I think it’s fine. Why don’t you put your bag away and stay awhile?” The rider winked at the dejected player and then wandered out of the bathroom and onto their bed. It was freshly made in clean linens, and too inviting to simply be walked past. There was nothing else to do in the house besides hover around André anyway.
“Where is your tie-dye shirt?” he asked her from his closet.
“In a drawer. It’s rainbow colored. I’m like a tie-dye pro.”
“Are we going downstairs, or outside, or bed, or what? What should I put on right now?”
“I dunno I don’t care.” Hola Juanin, Christina thought as her sweatpants pocket vibrated. It wouldn’t have been anyone other than the Spaniard. He played 74 minutes and assisted the match-winning goal, and she was waiting for him to respond to her congratulations text.
“Thanks. We played well. Who is it going to be with this time?” he wrote back. Her message also mentioned her desire to do another Dirk video, with a new artist, whose music she discovered only that afternoon, sort of.
“You know the song I played for you that sounds like its straight out of 1983 and I said I thought it might actually be brand new and not from Miami Vice? The featured artist on it is two guys called Oliver, because they’re both Olivers, and they’re DJ’s and producers and I heard their album that just came out and it’s AMAZING. You’ll prob love it. Add it on Apple. “Electrify” is my fave,” the rider told him with several dancing girl emojis.
“Why can’t you pick someone I already know personally and have a relationship with? Don’t you like any Kygo songs?” Juan’s feigned exasperation was audible in his digital words.
“Who says I want you to produce the video again?”
“Your mom.”
“We’re invited to a nightclub party in Milan on Saturday night with Rafa people. It’s not all night tho. Do you wanna?”
“I don’t know. That’s a week from now.”
“What are you doing tonight?”
“I had dinner with Paula. I’m home now. Bedtime for Juan.”
“Are you still hanging out with Taylor tomorrow?”
“I put sweatpants on because you have sweatpants on,” André shrugged on his way over to join his girl on the nicely made bed. She was upside down and tapping away on her phone. “Watcha doin?”
“Nothing.” Christina barely got the word out before the other player’s next message arrived.
“Yes.”
“Coming in hot.” The BVB midfielder crawled over her and literally just collapsed on her body, trapping the phone and her hand under his shoulder. “Ahh, yeah. Comfy.”
“Ugh, you weigh a ton. Why are your bones so heavy? There’s no fat on you to weigh this much.”
“Stop complaining,” he ordered before reluctantly scooting down some so that their parts lined up slightly better. He took the phone from her hand and set it on the bed, and then put both of her hands down at her side, out of the way of his elbows. Then he dropped his head down for a quick smooch. “Thanks for coming to the match.”
“Why do you still thank me?” Christina laughed. “I will never get that. I’ve been going to your games for almost 7 years. I was going to them even before that too. You just didn’t know it.”
“Because I’m still thankful that you support me. And that you support me at home too even after I play like crap.”
“You’re a hero to me and your son whether you score a hat trick, an own goal, or an award for doing absolutely nothing of note for an hour.” She couldn’t help but tease a little. It was totally fine with him because her teasing smile was very nice to look at. He bent down to kiss her again, a little slower, and then petted her forehead and some of her hair.
“I guess you weren’t paying attention when I gave the ball away and we almost lost a goal.”
“No I was, but you didn’t even do that well enough for them to actually score, so...doesn’t count.”
“Nice.”
“In all seriousness, was something hurting? You weren’t moving so good.” Christina held onto his waist and enjoyed his freshly showered smell. It was clean and manly and evoked all of the things inside a female that tell her to notice a male.
“Not really, but you’re right. By the end I wasn’t moving well.”
“Do you need a butt massage?” She slid her hands down over his behind and gave it a demonstrative double squeeze.
“You mean you have time for an ass that isn’t Jon Snow’s? You’ve found a way to include it in every other conversation for two days. Who is that?” His attention was diverted before he could list all the times she managed to work Kit Harington’s perfect ass into conversations. Her phone vibrated again, and lit up.
“How should I know? I can’t see it. Duuhhhhh.”
“Duhhhhhhh.”
“You’re crushing my liver or something. So you’re lucky you smell good.” And...meh. As the Olympic medalist inhaled some more eau du manly man, several threads converged in her head and dampened her mood. She spent much of the pre-match festivities with Zoe, and Nuri’s wife Tugba, talking about her new interest in Game of Thrones, and how it spawned from “that love scene” everybody was on about. The girls had so much to say and not just about Jon Snow’s wonderful, Fibonacci sequence-aligned bum. The other two knew more than the rider about the series, so they had more perspective on the significance of the love scene, but she could still testify to the powerful and meaningful emotions that were fueling it. It was obvious. The scene was about love, not sex. Zoe told her it was one of the few sex scenes in the whole story that portrayed the act as something loving instead of brutal and animalistic.
She also got wistful and fanciful and longing in talking about “that kind of love”. Marco’s girl asked, rhetorically, how amazing it is to have sex like that- to be so enamored, and so deeply in love, and so “so”. It was a struggle for her to even put a label on it. Tugba was all about it too. Nuri’s wife knew exactly what Zoe meant, and so did Christina. Unfortunately, thinking about the “oh my god, star-crossed lovers finally together, they need each other, they need to make love to fully experience it” sort of love just made her realize that she never had that with André anymore.
As Juan’s texts piled up on the phone next to her head, she felt uneasy inside. He was the one with whom she experienced that sort of love. He was the one she longed to be with that way. The girls also talked about other kinds of love, which they deemed good but not as singularly rewarding, satisfying, and special. André ticked the boxes for her for “when he’s so hot or handsome and you just need him” love and “casual, flirty” love, and “when you wake up Sunday morning and love each other” love. The player’s wives called the rarity of the other sort of love bittersweet, because they wanted to experience that encounter more often but recognized that it would be diminished with greater frequency. Zoe even said it was a “two handful” life experience, meaning one would only experience it maybe 10 times in a lifetime. So Christina logically shouldn’t have been that alarmed by the realization that she and her partner hadn’t had a night like that in some time, or that she wasn’t feeling that way about him. But she wasn’t sure that Zoe was right. It seemed like she thought of Juan that way all the time, and they had “Jonerys-level” sex multiple times just that summer. Sniffing her husband and feeling attracted to him on that most basic level of desire was disappointing for her, because it just reinforced everything she thought of in hospitality with the girls.
“Do you want me to move?” André offered when he noticed that her expression went flat for too long for her just to be kidding when she said he was lucky to smell good. It was like she frowned to go along with the banter but then just never smiled again or re-engaged.
“No. But...do you still...do you ever feel like you love me so much that you need to love me, like, physically? I mean- Not- Like- Like when you want to literally make love. You want to be together because of just...love. Not because you want to get off, or because I look good or whatever, or even like when you’re obsessed with being with my body for a while. I mean make love like the night before you went to Brazil, and our wedding night, and the first time we were together post-separation when it wasn’t weird anymore. When you look at me and I actually look back.” Christina regretted opening her mouth with every additional word she piled on to try to make herself clear. Her face was pink by the end, and she was hoping to disappear into the mattress somehow.
“How many times did you watch the scene with his butt? You are so obsessed. Let it go, Prinzessin,” André chuckled. “You get so hung up on films and shows. Life doesn’t have to be that dramatic!”
“Never mind the show. Do you know what I’m talking about? Don’t you-“
“I wanted to be with you like that yesterday and you didn’t feel the same.” Why is she asking me this, he wondered. Why does she fool around when I want to be serious, and get serious when I’m just whatever. Why does she watch and read love stories and then have to live them the same?
“No that’s not the same, babe.” The rider shook her head and peered up at him with almost something like urgency. “I’m talking about when we’re both feeling exactly the same way. It’s a joint thing. It can’t happen to just one.”
“Well wouldn’t you know then? If it has to be both of us then you know all the times,” the player sighed. He just didn’t want to be having that conversation. He wanted to go back to enjoying her face and her casual conversation. She sighed too, but inaudibly, and nodded. His answer illustrated a good point. There was no point in asking him if he experienced something recently that she didn’t when the experience was dependent on them both. So it wasn’t just Christina that wasn’t feeling it. It wasn’t just that she had Juan as an alternative. The other half of the equation was messed up too. She wanted to know why, but didn’t know how to find out. He lifted his head to look at nothing across the room- an inadvertent but indicative gesture that put more space between their faces. His girl didn’t know how to even go about finding out her answer without aggravating him further.
“Okay.”
“Has anyone told you the guy with the ass and the girl with the braids are brother and sister? And that he’s a bitch? He would be the guy who listens to Drake and cries over girls. It’s just a TV show, Chris. Real life isn’t supposed to be comparable.” He was still aggravated anyway.
“Can you get off me if you’re going to talk to me like I’m an idiot?” So was she. He flipped over onto his back next to her for a second and then did a sit up and shifted around to lean against the headboard. She rolled onto her stomach and picked up her mobile.
“Goodnight baby girl.” He says with a red heart. Honestly, why do I fight to be in love with a man I love dearly when it’s no struggle at all to be in love with the other man I love? Seriously. Why? Why do I do this? Schü and I treat our relationship like it’s a project we’re working on, or like a patient with a whole bunch of problems and we don’t even know if he’s going to make it. I just love Juan. That’s it. That’s all there is to say. I don’t have to try. He doesn’t talk about us like we’re a work in progress. He realistically COULD do that, because I know he sees us being together in the future and it must seem like we take steps toward and away from that at times, but he doesn’t. Why do we do this? I don’t even know anymore. The old answer was that I wanted us to be together, and I wanted to keep our family together. I used to say that just because something is hard doesn’t make it not worth it. I need a drink before I get upset.
“Where you going?”
“Water.”
