Imagine Jay and War get into a big argument because Jay has been with him after killing the last 3 chosen but War doesn't want her to go with him to Silitha's lair. So when they head to Ulthane's place, she finds out that War plans to go alone and Jay is against it. In the end War walks away and Jay is left silently crying in the rain.

Well like thousands of other theatre fans around the world I tuned in for, in my opinion, THE streaming event of the year last night and what a treat it was. I’m going to ramble and gush for several paragraphs so please bear with me…

What can I say about “Vanya” and Andrew’s performance that hasn’t been said before? I particularly love how they cleverly gave each character a ‘thing’ or quirk to help the audience identify who is speaking. I mean all the different accents he does are impressive - real dramatic Irish ‘mammy’ type voices for Liam and Elizabeth down to a more friendly, sedate middle Ireland lilt for Micheal and a small vulnerable, somewhat broken voice for Alexander. And of course Helena’s posh English accent blew my mind too. But I’m talking about a physical attribute or habit - a bouncing ball for Michael for instance, or Ivan’s use of his sunglasses. Subtle but works brilliantly 👏

Then there are the facial expressions which Andrew is just so good at. In theatre particularly they make such an impact when you can fill a period of silence with a facial expression and it says a thousand words. He is just outstanding in this field. And not just in the comedy moments - he could make me die laughing and shatter my heart equally with a single facial expression, and I know I’m not on my own when I say that.

I read the screenplay beforehand a couple of times and I’m glad I did as it did help to know which scene we were at and which key moments were about to occur. However there were still new things I picked up whilst watching it. Like it hadn’t become clear to me until last night that (spoiler alert!) Sonia was in unrequited love with Michael (a man clearly much older than her as insinuated in the script) - only that HE harboured feelings for someone he shouldn’t…

And I guess I can’t not touch on THAT scene between Helena and Michael 🔥 How the holy hell does one man play two people giving in to their desires and make it look believable? Well, if you’re Andrew Scott, you take off your shirt and start humping the floor and a closed door I guess! 🤭 (Not even gonna lie when I say I’ve thought about that scene an unhealthy amount of times! 😂). And then seeing Ivan’s shocked expression when he walks in on them holding the flowers 🤣 Absolutely frigging brilliant!

I would recommend everyone watch this once at the very least… I will obviously watch it a few more times as with most things you always pick up new details. It was undoubtedly a brave, experimental thing they decided to do last year without knowing how it was going to turn out but kudos to the whole team for putting together something so brilliantly surreal 👏

(I can’t say much about “People, Places and Things” atm as the NTAH platform crashed about two thirds of the way through it and they had to start the whole stream over. I took to doing something else rather than rewatch 75 minutes of something I’d just watched - and then fell asleep! So I haven’t seen the last part. I will come back with my thoughts on that one when I’ve watched the bit I missed!)

Hiii I love the unconventional approach you’re taking with their relationship in Cardinal sins! I reread ARS recently and read Cardinal after and it really flows together 👏🥰 I can’t wait for them to kiss and makeup though 😙

ANON MY HEARRTTT sorry for sitting on this ask for a literal month- just wanted to make sure i answered everything! I was super self-conscious about posting CS in the first place bc of the conflict i wanted to portray between them. I really didn't want it to be like 'we all love each other and have no issues anymore bc we're together finally' because that's just not realistic with 3 very different personalities like they have! the kissing and forgiveness will come throughout the next few chapters as bigger threats present themselves :p

yes! definitely willing to talk about my writing process. dialogue always comes really easily to me (except in some scenes of parent teacher conferences and scenes with Lian for some reason) as hard as it is to believe (or maybe not!!) smut is very hard for me to write tbh like it either comes easy in a chapter or it doesn't but more often than not, it's the last thing i need to write in chapters that include it (aka rn with parent teacher conferences opps)

behind the scenes / CS spoilers

as i mentioned above, i wanted their relationship to be tumultuous to an extent as that's how it'd been in ARS but in CS you can tell they're trying to change for the better (think coping mechanisms, opening up to each other... etc) while they learn how best to support each other as lovers in a poly relationship

throughout, there is romance, but it honestly becomes a subplot which I kinda liked!

originally, reader actually was going to be pregnant but i decided against it bc i really wanted to show cardinal in the field and as her own person. i felt like it would've done her a disservice to have her be introduced into the field and taken out of it before she even had a chance to kick ass as cardinal

roy- i didn't want his challenges w substance abuse just to happen in ars and then never mentioned again. it's really core to how much he's grown and a shifting point in his character in ars and i wanted to continue to show that journey as he grows older but still deals with the some of the same struggles + the different approaches he takes bc of his growth. also, how to make him not an accessory to cardinal and hood / comic relief as i tried to do in ARS :D

jason- no one butts heads (lol butt head) like Jason and reader!! i love how crazy their realtionship can get bc they see themselves as so different, when honestly they're more similar than not. Jason plays a big role in CS as he represents the opposite views of Bruce and, coincidentally, the opposite views of reader on Joker (how they coexist / can those opposite views coexist and for how long?) + his views on the Bat Family and how Bruce treats them vs reader's idolized version of Bruce as a dad. redemption vs unredeemable is a huge theme Jason helps push forward in the sequel :p (also repentance and sins!)

cardinal- consistently has dealt with 'what is family/ who is family to her' and that continues in CS. Bruce is someone she looks up to and has said she considers a father. she still holds bruce on this pedestal and and how it contrasts with the warnings Jason's given her about Bruce- I really wanted to work with this angle throughout the rest of the fic. alsooo reader as a mom to Lian and her not wanting to fuck up like her parents did

Well now that I’ve won your heart I must return with another theory. So while I was reading your reply (which was so lovely btw) I suddenly remembered the scene where jimin and guk were drinking blood in the bathroom. So if jimin was a ripper bc he was exposed to human blood so early as a newborn and had no mentor then he knew how dangerous it would be for guk to drink some. So this could only lead to two theories: either guk caught jimin and so to save himself he played it off like it wasn’t a big deal or jimin encouraged jungkook in an effort for guk to revolt against oc and possibly hurt her. In the early days guk had so much hatred towards oc, which jimin def knew about and also knew he was trying to break the sire bond, that maybe jimin had hoped this hatred and weakened bond would cause him to try and hurt oc. I mean it makes sense especially since jimin seems to like using pawns rather than handling his own dirty work. And jungkook did attack her initially until the sire bond kicked in and he calmed down and conveniently jimin awoke. Which led me to a sudden third theory of if jungkook didn’t kill her jimin would come in and save her in a way to establish trust much like hoseok did before staking her

All I can say is Oh... my... GOODNESS. YOUR MIND! I’m seriously blown away because I myself did NOT think that far ahead. I love your theories so much, ALL of them. Idek how to address which one I want to be canon. LOL. 👏😭 I had to go reread and gather my original thoughts (if I can even recall them).

Even though Jimin was a past ripper, it’s been many years and he is much more composed than before. He’s very aware of his surroundings, so I don’t think he’d risk feeding on someone. I’d like to believe the blood bags he gets sent are enough for him. Without them, he might’ve lashed out and JK would’ve caught him for sure.

This theory is so good. I don’t even know how to properly respond because ahklfdjlkf. Now my original ideas sound so lame. LOL. Lemme backtrack a bit.

When Jimin offered JK the blood bag for the first time, it was to comfort him but a part of him liked sharing human blood with someone. Made him feel less alone. 

Then when the news of the sports festival came, Jimin was worried JK might not be able to handle himself and then the blame would be put on him. So he stuck to JK’s side and watched him. 

It was all a coincidence how there was an injured human who just so happened to show up to the restrooms while JK and Jimin were still there. I imagined it like this.

The male group follows Hoseok back to the main group except for Jimin and JK. Jimin was following but noticed JK hadn’t come out from the restrooms yet and decides to wait for him. But then he hears some odd noises and once he enters the restroom, he sees JK trying to feed on the human and tries to stop him (which is how he got injured). But we don’t know exactly how hard he tried to stop JK... or if he really tried at all. It’s quite possible during the fight Jimin realized he could use this situation to his advantage. 🤭

And that’s when OC swoops in and sees Jimin knocked out.

I mean it makes sense especially since jimin seems to like using pawns rather than handling his own dirty work. And jungkook did attack her initially until the sire bond kicked in and he calmed down and conveniently jimin awoke. JK did attack her at first, but her faith in him helped him calm down and redirect his bloodlust towards her instead. She didn’t need to use the sire bond on him since she believed he would come through. 🥺❤️

But I can definitely see Jimin coming to save OC if JK did get out of hand. At the time though, OC seeing Jimin injured was enough for build trust since she appreciated he at least tried to stop him. But that could definitely have all been an act. That trust dissipated when she found out he gave JK human blood anyway. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Idek if I’m replying properly, let’s just say you’ve surprised me and left me in awe! I think you understand my characters better than I do. LOL. 

Jimin... is tricky. Does he enjoy it every time OC is hurt? 👀 Perhaps. I wonder just how far he is willing to go to hurt her... if it’s him behind things anyway. 😝
