bobby started out the season keeping athena above water and he ended it with getting her out of the fire. both times until his body almost gave out. he never complained though because all he ever wanted was to save his family.

ok this conversation but more specifically this panel always fucks me up. because.
william here says that he wants just louis to enter his new world. just louis. emphasis on just.
all the people william lists? after the final problem are either ‘dead’ or lost (to louis, anyway). and this here is confirming that william doesn’t intend for louis to die during the final problem, despite that being the whole plan.
from here, louis could piece it together- i.e. that william intends to die alone during the final problem (or at least, that louis isn’t gonna die- william’s omission of albert implies that he thinks albert is dirty and tainted too, which is also buckwild to me). and maybe he does- after all, he directly tells william later in this conversation that he doesn’t see the point of a perfect world without william. basically saying live for me, please.
but like. there’s more.
it always seemed to me that william was putting louis up on a pedestal. to be the innocent one, kept clean from his own tainted hands. and louis isn’t stupid- he almost certainly knew this. and now to have it outright stated that he was supposed to be different and special.
and what’s heartbreaking is that william doesn’t seem to be aware of the pressure he’s putting on louis. the same pressure he’s buckling under, he’s putting on louis. louis doesn’t show it - he seems to be stronger (or at least more stable), mentally speaking, than his brothers - but still.
imagine it. knowing you’re the survivor before the tragedy even happens. you’re a symbol of purity and innocence to your symbol of hope. you’re both the saved and the savior. he tells you to lean on him but he was leaning on you first and if you lose your balance, than he’s falling too.
he tells you he’s gifting you a perfect world, but you would live in this rotting house forever so long as he was with you.

you know what no. this scene actually flabbergasts me
by which i mean it’s absolutely fucking adorable and i watched it about 5 times over before i had the brain capacity to move on but like. i’m literally throwing my arms up in exasperation because we know this bit. we’ve seen it in all its forms. we’ve seen it as a plot device with hetero couples and we’ve seen it as a joke when it’s between two guys. and we know that when it’s like this, where it’s not the butt of a joke, it’s where one half of the “we’re just really good friends” situationship starts to realize they have romantic feelings for the other person. that is the purpose of this bit when only one of them is in earshot of the comment and they don’t immediately laugh it off. that’s what it’s designed for and what it’s used for in romantic plots!!! and here they are, using it for buck and eddie, as though that’s not gonna make the audience’s romantic alarm bells start blaring. like. objectively, this is the part of the narrative where buck realizes he’s in love with eddie. that’s what that means. and it’s driving me insane bc i know that they do nothing with it
