𝘀𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: vinnie and his girlfriend can’t seem to arrive at a birthday dinner without getting mobbed by fans.

“ugh, are we almost there? because, i’m not sure how much more taylor swift and olivia rodrigo, i can take.” luna looked back at you through the rear view mirror. her blonde ponytail was sleeked back and stayed in place, despite the wind that blew from the open window. her hoops were large enough that they would clash up against each other if her head wasn’t in the way.

“yes, we are— and what’s so bad about liv and tay?” you asked, amused at her annoyance. the whole car ride there, luna complained about how she didn’t have the aux cord. you would have given it to vinnie since it’s his birthday, but he insisted that he didn’t care about what you guys listened to.

“nothing! i don’t mind, but…. come on?! it’s the same few songs you play, every time!” luna and you had been best friends since the fourth grade. while you had your similarities, you were both also polar opposites. she had offered to give you and vinnie a ride to the birthday dinner that everyone was attending. she felt bad for not being able to attend it, having a late dentist appointment and all, so she felt obligated to give the two a ride.

“okay, and?!” your voice grew louder as your hand gripped the back of luna’s seat. you and vinnie sat in the back, not wanting to sit up front and instead be with the birthday boy, leaving luna alone up front. your long, pink to white ombré acrylics, dug into the leather of the seat as you perched yourself forwards.

“and?! how many times do i have to listen to evermore and willow? pick one, you can’t have both.” you gasped and held a hand up to your chest.

“girl, that’s fucked up of you to say… but since you asked, evermore stays.” a smile formed on your face as the car began to park.

“your dad and brother are there already, right?” your hand grabbed onto vinnie’s shoulder, comfortingly.

“mmhm, they just got in.” you muttered a ‘cool’ before unbuckling your seatbelt and grabbing your sunglasses. the black leggings you wore, hugged your body just right and the oversized balenciaga hoodie that vinnie gave you, smelled just like him as your straightened hair draped over it. “alex said it’s mobbed with fans and photographers..”

suddenly becoming aware of the dilemma, you snapped your head back to look at him and shifted your body closer to his. he wore his snapback to hide his messy locks and he kept his eyes locked on his phone. “hey.” you lightly pushed his phone down so he would look at you. “are you sure you’re okay? we can just postpone this and go back home, i’m sure they’d understand—“

“no, y/n. it’s fine.” he rubbed his hand over his face as you heard the small clicking noise of his phone finally turning off. “it’s just… being called a racist and trending worldwide on my fucking birthday and then having to see paparazzi is just not something that i want to do..” he stated, materoffactly. vinnie had spent the past few hours scrolling through twitter. a video of him had resurfaced and people had claimed that he said a racial slur, when in reality, he was just thanking a fan named nikki for a sub. he knew he didn’t do anything wrong, but it still hurt him, and y/n could understand why.

“aight, listen, do you want me to do something?” you blurted, jumping into his lap so you balanced on his thigh. “seriously, vin. if you want me to say something i can—“

“no, baby, it’s not your problem to deal with, okay? i promise. just, don’t feel obligated to do something, because you aren’t, it’s my mess and you shouldn’t be getting dragged in it. i already tweeted about it, i’m just waiting for all of the stupidity to die down.” your eyes locked with his and you couldn’t help the small smile that formed on your lips as you looked at how adorable he was.

“i know.” you nodded, “i know, it’s just…. god, people can be so stupid and i’m so fucking pissed that they decided to pull some dumb shit like this on your birthday of all days!” vinnie looked up in adoration at you. “it’s ridiculous how jealous some people can be. because that’s what it is, vin. it’s jealousy. you did nothing wrong and if people wanna be stupid and claim that you’re a racist, when you clearly aren’t and they have literally no reason to think so, just let them— it’s nothing you did, vinnie, it’s just them wanting to make accusations. they look stupid as fuck. you’ve done nothing wrong, and this isn’t something that white people have any right to dismiss. it’s not their apology to accept.” you could tell that vinnie didn’t feel like talking, so you continued.

“i’m glad that they called you out on that, though. people of color need to hold white people accountable for their inadvertent racism. but, you didn’t say it and it was all a misunderstanding, so please don’t feel guilty. i know you aren’t that kind of person, babe.” you could tell that vinnie was close to tears. he hated the idea of hurting someone, and knowing that there were black fans out there who were hurting over what they thought he said, was breaking him apart.

“they’ll come around,” you caressed his cheek, “and if they don’t? fuck em, they’re missing out on such an amazing and caring person. they’re awful for making such a serious and inhumanizing claim in the first place. watch, next week they’ll say that you hate women and spit on fans.” vinnie let out a laugh. “i’m serious! they say whatever they can to get you cancelled— it’s like the obama calendar all over again!” your boyfriend was now in a laughing fit. the two of you sat like that, in silence for a brief moment.

“are you nervous that they’ll say anything to you?” he fiddled with your fingers.

“if they do, i’ll go off on them and set the record straight.” his smile grew bigger at your words.

all he could think was, god i love her.

“are you gonna be okay?”

“i think so.” he nodded, sitting up as you hopped off of him.

“okay, guys? i’m gonna miss my appointment if y’all don’t get the fuck out of my car.” luna warned.

you and vinnie laughed as you looked at him and grabbed his hand. “after this, we can go home and eat ice cream, okay? i promise. let’s go have fun, baby.”

he laced his pinky in yours.

as the restaurant came into view, the two of you were immediately met with a few fans, wandering around with phones in their hands. as you looked down the walkway, you noticed people standing as if they were waiting for you guys to greet them.

oh boy.

vinnie held his phone in his hand and you wrapped an arm around him, protectively. you’d normally just hold his hand, but you could tell that he was still feeling down, so you rubbed his back with your fingers as you continued walking. feeling your feet start to wobble, vinnie could tell that your anxiety was kicking in. he whispered a small “i love you.” to help calm your nerves.

“hey, vinnie. can i have a picture with you?” a boy asked, following after you.

“yeah, sure.” vinnie stopped, and faked a smile as he leaned over the boys shoulder. you stood and watched before you began walking again. you didn’t get much farther, before another fan approached. this one was a little girl and was far more excited than the other was.

“oh my god— vinnie can i get a picture?!” she smiled at him and adverted her eyes towards you; giving you a dirty look.

“sure!“ while your boyfriend posed, you felt your heart drop, somewhat. she was only around twelve years old, so you didn’t hold it against you. y/n wrapped her hands around vinnie before breaking apart, yet again.

he stopped and took a photo with a paparazzi man as you felt yourself become agitated. he sent you a sorry glance, his features lit up from the photographers camera.

“vinnie, happy birthday, man.” you two shuffled awkwardly by him while he spoke. “thanks, i appreciate it.” you looked up, seeing a sincere look of gratitude on his face.

finally, someone acknowledged his birthday!

suddenly, you felt a tap on your shoulder. flinching slightly, you looked down to see a short girl with long box braids, looking up at you.

“y/n?”

a smile formed on your lips, vinnie too preoccupied with the paparazzi to notice the girl. “yes?”

“hi!” her braces shown as she smiled.

“hi! how are you?”

“i’m great, wow. i um…you actually followed my fanpage a few days ago… it was uh— on instagram. it was an update page on you and vinnie—“

“OH! that?! that’s you?” the girl nodded ecstatically. “mmhmm.”

“wow, it’s an honor to meet you! i’m a huge fan of that page, give me a hug.” you engulfed the teenage girl in your arms. she smelled of sweet perfume and you held her hand as you broke the hug. y/n’s eyes fixated on the girls nails.

“oh my god, i love your nails!” unsure of what y/n would say, the girl stood there anxiously before checking her manicure herself. y/n played with her fingers, watching how the holographic rainbow pattern sparkled. “the rainbow is gorgeous! i need to get my nails done like that.”

“oh, thank you!” the sound of cars honking from across the street, drowned out her words. the group continued walking, y/n lightly placing her hand on the girls back so she wouldn’t get swept up in the crowd.

“did you want a picture with vinnie?” you asked.

“oh, yes, please! and you too!”

“of course!” you touched your boyfriend on the shoulder and he looked down at the girl. “what’s your name, sweetheart?”

“kathy.”

the three of you posed for a photo before walking off and leaving the girl starstruck. you weren’t famous, and were barely an influencer, so when fans approached you, you were always excited. sure, they may just know you as vinnie’s girlfriend, but it’s better than dirty looks. speaking of dirty looks, you watched vinnie speak into a fans camera, a small group of girls your age huddled around him. a thin blonde girl pointed at your shoes, making another girl in the group laugh.

you looked down at your white and red nikes, your heart pounding as you gulped.

what the fuck is wrong with my shoes?

“y/n, vinnie! can i get a picture of you two together?” finally, you both reached the door and posed for a finale photo. you kissed him on the cheek, leaving some of your clear gloss stained on his skin. men with cameras began shouting questions about the controversy to vinnie, making you instinctively pull him away to see his friends at the entrance. jett greeted you two and trailed after vinnie.

meeting with bryce, kouvr and alex, you assumed that the coast was clear, until a fan shouted your name.

“y/n, your lashes are bomb!”

vinnie giggled as you replied with a swift, “thank you!”

“dude, how many fucking hats is that?” jett asked, opening the restaurant door.

“i don’t know, like five?” vinnie laughed, lightly tipsy after being burned by his friends for not drinking on his birthday. you hadn’t planned on getting drunk, but here you were. vinnie held your hand and laughed at your stumbling feet. “fuck, i can’t trip infront of everyone!”

“alright, make a shield, guys!” vinnie motioned with his hands while liza and eamon walking ahead of you two, attempting to hide you from everyone.

“do i look okay?”

“duh!” vinnie smiled, kissing you on the neck as you exited outside.

“i’ve got hats! i’m a wearer of hats!” vinnie shouted, making you laugh like crazy. you held your head down, hiding behind liza’s body. the flicker of white flashes could be seen in your peripheral, but you couldn’t care less; too invested in how ridiculous your boyfriend was being.

speed walking, he swerved multiple fans and said small hello’s as jett rushed ahead of you. throwing vinnie his car keys, vinnie raised his hands in victory.

“finally, my car!” a hat flew off of his head, y/n leaning down to pick it up.

“wait, baby—“

“what?” placing the hat back on his head, he smiled at you. dropping down off of the sidewalk, you began to enter his car. “hold on, let me get it!” he opened the door for you and watched you sit.

“y/n! i love you!” you heard a fan shout.

“i love you more!” you yelled back, ducking down and into the car. a fan gave vinnie a gift as paparazzis started asking questions again.

“let me answer this one!” you poked his shoulder, pouting your lip out.

“okay, my girlfriend is gonna answer this question for me— you’re welcome.” he handed something back to a blonde girl and reclined his seat back so the man could talk to you.

“no, vinnie hasn’t been payed for the fight!”

“hell, yeah! goodnight, everyone!“ he rolled up his windows, feeling the grip of your hand on his leg. the two of you laughed; you laughing at absolutely nothing and vinnie laughing at how drunk you were. “see, this is why i only took two shots, i knew she’d get drunk.”

jett, liza and eamon all laughed at his words. the night sky peeked through y/n’s window as you buckled your seat. “oh, shut up birthday boy.” he flashed a toothy grin, backing out of the parking spot.

“now, it’s time for that ice cream.”

Decided to do some world building lol

Context needed for this fic: non yandere intro

Warning this contains: mention of a hunt, mention of yandere behavior, a bit of tense atmosphere

“So the mayor is spending the night at our house” taro mumbled out sleepily as he poured himself coffee. Jackson gasped dropping the dish he had in his hand while staring at taro with fear and shock, body shaking.

“T-the mayor? L-like our town mayor? Why would he be spending the night?” Jackson mumbled out eyes prickled with tears as raven cleaned up the glass on the floor and altor was calming him down by pulling him into his lap and rubbing his back.

“Yeah, why is that monster coming to our house?” Altor said softly with a scoff, Sage who by now was more focused on eating shot taro a sharp glare. “You aren’t in love with them right?” She asked out with a worried tone.

Taro expected questions though not so fast, he took a sip of the black coffee “well he was going to take me out to dinner to discuss work and a new case he personally wants me to take but I told him I had plans to spend time with my partners and he invited himself to spending the night. Said it was payment for us not taking any part in any town events like the pride festival or the annual hunt” taro explained in a full tone, staring into his mug.

Taro knew this town was sick, him and his partners were one of the few that weren’t infected. An illness that could be spread through genes or can be given via a drug that taro couldn’t pinpoint where they came from, an illness that made someone so obsessed with another that it would make even the purest person commit a blood bath.

“Well if it’s for one night..should be okay, but we should keep an eye on him” raven mumbled out with a scoff “let’s just be careful, I don’t trust them” raven said and with that the discussion was done, they had almost forgotten the conversation.

When a doorbell interrupted them just as Sage and altor were setting the table for dinner. When raven opened the door he felt his blood go cold at the sight of the mayor infront of him, bright smile widening as they tilted their head to the side with a hushed humming noise.

The mayor looked young late 20s early 30s despite this no one not even the elders could remember a time where he wasn’t mayor. Rumors of him selling his soul to the devil to become immortal or him being some vampire became popular in town, he was tall being maybe 6’4 which only made his smile more intimidating. The male had dark skin that looked almost like it glowed, then again when one was in the spotlight it would be natural that they took care of themselves, his hair was in a messy ponytail with bangs falling over his face a bit, the messy hair being dyed in a ombré style with most of the bright red being in his hangs while the top of his hair was more of a dark crimson.

What unnerved raven the most were his eyes, or lack there of. He had eyes of course but they gave the impression that they were constantly closed, his smile only causing his eyes to squint more making it impossible to see his eye color, to see what his eyes were hiding. Raven only caught his eye color once and it was a time where rage over took him causing his eyes to widen, but raven couldn’t remember for the life of him what that color was.

“Raven! It’s nice to see you again!”

“M-mr. Mayor, come in..” raven stammered out as the male stepped inside. “Please, call me ambrose” he said softly as he noticed altor glaring at him while Jackson hid behind Sage who was much short than he was. ��Goodness you would think I’m the devil or something! Relax i come bearing gifts!” He chimed out holding up the expensive looking gift bag “I brought wine for us to drink, I don’t get out of my office too often so this is honestly much needed” ambrose said with a giddy giggle

“Weren’t you seen at the inn like just week?” Sage barked out causing altor to elbow her with a warning glare “save manners..” he hissed making ambrose turn his head away a hand over his mouth shoulders shivering from laughter.

“No no it’s fine! That was more of a business meeting I was simply scoping the place out to see if..”he trailed off shaking his head “I shouldn’t spoil the surprise! Dinner smells really good! Shall we begin?” He cooed out.

To say that dinner was awkward was an understatement, the group who would normally be loud and bombastic were deathly mute, the vibe was tense and Ambrose caught that. “To think my ace detective and his lovers would despise me this much, what a shame” he mumbled out with a sigh twirling his fork to collect the spaghetti they were eating.

“No no no! It’s not that I just, well..we don’t get to see you often that’s all! I mean the events you hold are pretty brutal and we could never take-ow!” Jackson flinched when he felt a kick to his leg. Sage cleared her throat “what my partner meant to say was we don’t really hang around town y’know? With the hunt coming soon we are a little tense” she said with a nervous grin.

“Oh? Well I suppose I understand! Hopefully you all haven’t caught anyone’s eye enough to become a target. Though, altor..a smart man like you would be almost too delicious to turn down hunting for, and Sage..a strong girl like you? Who wouldn’t want to be at your mercy you have the makings of a hunter my dear” the way he spoke was enough to send shivers down anyone’s spine.

“W-we aren’t like that..loving someone so much you would kill for them, I can’t even imagine taking a life..it’s so terrible. I-I find all life valuable, so taking one..feels dirty” Jackson chimed in and the silence that took over made the group realize that his response surprised Ambrose who dropped his fork now clasping his hands together resting his chin on where his fingers intertwined eyes wider than normal showing off his aqua colored eyes that sparkles with curiosity.

“Is that so? How interesting~ you all really are interesting.” He said softly with a soft chuckle that didn’t sound condescending like the others did but instead one resembling a child having fun. “Taro, I want to promote you to chief if you would accept it” Ambrose said softly his response making taro flinch now tensing up “excuse me? But why? I’m just a detective, to make me chief especially with how young I am is just-”

“I believe in you. Is that now enough? If you were chief that would give you special access to closed case information, as well as the ability to assign your own tasks force for whatever you want..even cases that are ten years old and involving a house fire perhaps?” Ambrose said softly knowing he got taro right where he wanted him.

Before taro could respond altor stood up slamming his hands on the table “what’s your game here? You wouldn’t just let someone have that much power.” He said sharply his response making the male in question sigh “you caught me..boo-hoo” he pouted before smiling brightly once more. “I have one single condition. You all must attend the two events I hold every year for our lovely town of kalopsia at least once, I expect to see all of you at pride and as far as the hunt that’s happening soon..” Ambrose paused his talking to stand up now leaning in close to altor who glared at him only to falter when he saw bright aqua eyes staring into his brown ones.

“There are five of you, I expect three of you to be prey and the other two as hunters..don’t care who but please submit your forms to town hall by next week.” He whispers lowly before reaching out and cupping altor’s cheek “I would hate to have to choose for you all, cause if it was up to me…that one right there would be my pick for one of the prey and I know the other hunters would gobble him up like a sweet treat” He said in a low yet dangerous tone as he glanced at Jackson who was shaking and in tears.

Altor felt his anger rise but before he can act on it Ambrose let out a gasp “oh no! I forgot I do have something important to do! Well I’ll let you all think about our little deal, i will have to take a rain check on our slumber party!” He chimed out as he walked towards the door

“Taro, I want you to really think about what’s at stake here. You all know where to find me if you need anything, let’s play again soon~” and just like that the male was gone leaving the intense air to stay.

None of them went to sleep that night, too scared and stressed to sleep. Taro had a tough call to make, he knew it was selfish of him to take that deal but the current chief wasn’t giving him all the info he needed for his sister’s case, taro would die for that information…would kill for it.

Billionaire’s Makeup Artist

He had first seen her when Cass was doing her makeup. Damian had somehow been stuck to take Cassandra to a halloween party, and she was running late. Barging into her room he was assaulted by the pigments on his adopted sister’s face. She was supposed to be a...clown? He really couldn’t tell, not until he looked towards her laptop on her vanity.

There was a small girl, around his age with black hair in a sleek ponytail, reds and black adorning her face. She looked kinda scary, but Damian assumed that was the goal. So Cass was trying to be a clown, a scary clown. She however, looked nothing like the girl. Fed up, she took a makeup wipe and removed her makeup, then applied red lipstick to her lips and on her nose. Sighing as she looked up at him, this was the best it would get. Standing up they left and Damian drove her to the party, all the while having an image of the clown girl in his mind.

That had almost been a year ago

He found the girl’s Youtube channel, finding that she was indeed, his age (17). Her name, at least on the channel, was Raven. She posted makeup look videos, some of her more popular ones were “Maleficent Inspired Makeup Look” and the clown video Cass had been watching. She posted on Friday’s around 4:00 pm. She had a decent amount of subscribers when he first started watching her, 650K, and he wanted nothing more than for her to blow up.

Seeing as he had quite a few sisters, and had lived with Dick Grayson (who was a bigger gossip than Vicky Vale) he knew the basics of the amount of drama and toxicity of the makeup community on YouTube. He doubted she would be involved with any of that, but it wasn’t like he knew her.

In fact all he knew was what she let on the internet, which wasn’t a whole lot. He had searched for her on other media platforms but either she didn’t have any, or they were photos of her looks from YouTube. His siblings always asked him why he would watch her, it’s not like he was into makeup and she didn’t talk about anything else in her videos.

To be honest, Damian didn’t know why he had started watching her, maybe it was in the way she looked like she was genuinely enjoying herself or how she had real talent, or maybe it was because she was so damn beautiful that he couldn’t take his eyes off of her.

Getting the notification of her weekly upload, Damian made his way to his room and looked at the video title. “We hit 1 Million” with the thumbnail of her with balloons that read out 1,000,000. The video itself was her incorporating some of her “iconic” makeup looks into one, where she did the eyeshadow from her Maleficent video, and lips from her Clown one. Her hair was out in soft waves and had a purple ombré to it. Watching the video he was mesmerized with her voice, it was soft and soothing. At the end of the video the most wicked thought came to mind.

Now Wayne Industries didn’t need sponsors, everyone in Gotham (and all of America) knew who Bruce Wayne was. If it wasn’t for his parents murder when he was 18, or taking over the family business at 22, then it was by the fact that he had more adopted kids then an orphanage. So no, Damian’s father’s company didn’t need to have sponsors, but that didn’t mean that they couldn’t have any.

So he sent Raven an email, pretending to be his father, proposing the idea of a sponsorship. He didn’t know if she would accept, as he had never seen a video where she had done a sponsorship, but it was worth a try. He just hoped his father wouldn’t be too mad about him going behind his back and using the company as a front.

He had told Jon about the idea, who had encouraged him to reach out to her, but wasn’t too thrilled about him lying to his father. She replied to the email the next day saying she didn’t usually do sponsorship deals but was interested in why “Wayne Industries” would want to sponsor a makeup YouTuber and not “anyone else”. Damian had responded saying that “My kids love your channel”.

It wasn’t a complete lie, his sisters did like her channel and he said kids, not daughters.

She had told him that she was appreciative and would be a fool not to accept. So, they worked out the plans of the deal and a few weeks later she posted a video that included his sponsorship. He had never been more happy than when he received an email from her, he just had to make sure father didn’t find out, as the emails were sent using the company’s email. After a week of working together he had decided to ask for her number, as it would be easier to text then email, also making it easier to hide the messages from his father. He made sure to stay in touch with her, and it all seemed to go pretty well. Then the annual Wayne Gala happened.

His father had been pressuring him into bringing a date, the Mayor’s daughter more specifically, but Damian had other ideas in mind. As a “present” for his sisters, he reached out to Raven once more and asked her if she would do they’re makeup, which she had agreed to. He was happy, or at least as happy as Damian Wayne could be. He told his sisters about it, who squealed in excitement and they all waited for the day with baited breath.

Finally the day arrived, and so had she. Bruce had been too busy with getting everything set up to even notice that she was there, Pennyworth however, was firmly displeased with not knowing of the young girl’s arrival, therefore being unprepared.

Damian had told him that he tried doing something nice for his family members and that he should be happy. After he had dealt with the butler he ran out of the kitchen to go greet her, but before he could even walk up to her, she was whisked away by his sisters. It wasn’t until hours later when they were all done that he managed to get some time with her.

She was in his room, which usually would have irked him but for some reason he was fine with it. She was looking at the knives on his wall, completely focused on them. He stared at her for a while until he realized that he should probably say something.

“I got them from the Middle East” he spoke, breaking the trance she was in. She didn’t seem startled nor did she turn around. “They’re very beautiful,” she breathed. Slowly walking up to her, he pulled one from the wall and looked at the inscription on it. “What does it say?” she asked. “Take Care” he mumbled, reading the flowing Arabic on the knife. Sighing, he put it back on the wall and faced her.

Her skin was bare, which was an unusual but not unwelcome sight. How did she manage to be just as beautiful without makeup as she did with makeup? She smirked slightly, cocking her head a bit. Suddenly feeling very conscious, Damian raised an eyebrow, asking what.

She motioned to his laptop, which had one of her videos on it. Then she held up his phone, which had the messages he sent her on them.

If it was possible his eyes went even wider before narrowing down. “How did you- how did you do that” he asked her accusingly, taking his phone and slipping it into his pocket. What else was he gonna do, he couldn’t let her put him in a corner. “I stumbled into your room by accident when I saw your laptop. Then I saw your phone, left open to our messages, may I add” inwardly Damian cursed himself, whenever he would feel lonely he’d go back and read their messages, he must have forgotten to close his phone before he left for a snack.

“I-“ he tried to speak, to say anything that could save his face or his father’s company. He couldn’t believe what he had done, using his father’s company to talk to a girl so he could what? Go out with her? Get to know her? Just because he liked her didn’t mean that she would like him, and now all of his planning was ruined because he couldn’t remember to turn off his damn electronics.

He was broken out of his mental scolding by a pair of soft, warm lips pressed against his cheek. Looking down to the shorter girl, he blushed furiously. “I usually don’t do anything after I upload if you, maybe want to hang out?” She wasn’t looking at him but he could see a light pink dust her cheeks.

Before he could say anything, Cass had come into his room dragging Raven out telling her about what makeup look she wanted and asking if Raven could show her a few tricks. It took him a moment after they left that she had just asked him out. Grinning to himself he pulled his phone out. “So, Friday?” He texted, the only answer he got was the light laughter he heard from down the hallway.

Was upset that Carl unfollowed her once and figured Hannah made him do it. Which wasn’t true, Hannah was sure of herself now & doesn’t feel the need to be jealous, the man could follow whoever he wanted—she knew he barely stayed on IG in the first place. He thought it was too shallow

So when Chelsea called him one night sobbing he was utterly confused, he didn’t understand why a follow meant so much

He reluctantly followed her back

With each page turn, you feel a little bit of your sanity leave you.

You’ve been cooped up in your dorm for the past week, studying for the absolute hell that is finals week. You’re running on four hours of sleep and hell of a lot of caffeine. Day and night have just been blending together and you genuinely have no concept of time anymore. Your roommate has been staying with her boyfriend more often, which leaves you and your misery all alone with no one to vent to.

This must be what solitary confinement feels like, you think to yourself.

Once you read the same sentence for the tenth time in a row, you finally give up and slam your anatomy textbook closed. It’s only 11:20 PM, so you decide to go out for some fresh air. Just the thought of being in this room any longer makes you feel suffocated.

You don’t bother changing out of your sweatpants and t-shirt, simply throwing a light jacket over it. You’re not sure when you last washed your hair so you tease it up into a ponytail. Shooting your roommate a quick text (though you’re pretty sure she’s not going to see it), you grab your wallet and keys and head out.

The night air feels cool when it hits you and you close your eyes, relishing the breeze. You begin to wander aimlessly around the neighborhood, trying to procrastinate going back as much as possible. After a while, you eventually stop in front of a bar.

You aren’t much of a drinker because you really don’t have the time to be one. When you do drink once in a blue moon, it’s usually with your roommate on the floor of your room. Just once, you’d like to have that experience of getting blackout drunk at a bar and dealing with a nasty hangover instead of blacking out after pulling an all-nighter studying and dealing with staying awake in your 8 AM chemistry class.

Squaring your shoulders and straightening your back, you confidently push open the doors and walk in. You expect a loud club-like scene with a bunch of people dancing on top of each other, but that’s not what you get at all. The place is low-lit with jazzy music playing, and there’s barely any people here. Instead of a dance floor, there’s a big pool table in the middle of the room. The bar is all the way in the back, and you awkwardly navigate past a tipsy couple playing pool to get to it.

There’s only one person sitting at the bar, an elderly man wearing a suit. He’s chatting jovially with the bartender, swirling the drink in his hand around. You can tell by the way they’re talking that they are very comfortable with each other, and you almost feel a little bad for intruding. The bartender hears you approaching and looks up. You nearly trip over your own feet when you make eye contact with him.

He’s so good-looking that you’re honestly a little intimidated. Dark, messy hair that falls into his eyes, features that are on par with any model, and looks damn good in a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up. You kind of just want to run away, but he’s already seen you so it’s too late.

“What can I get you?” he asks, smiling politely. His nametag reads Xiaojun.

You sigh, shrugging. “Something that’ll make me forget, or take off my pants.”

Xiaojun stares at you, clearly not expecting that answer. The elderly man laughs, a big belly laugh that makes you involuntarily smile. “Darlin’, that would be tequila.”

“Then I’ll have that,” you nod.

“First time here?” Xiaojun asks, shooting a stern glance at the elderly man.

“How could you tell?” you joke.

“Just a hunch,” he chuckles, “anyways, I don’t think tequila is what beginners should start with.”

“I’ll drink whatever you give me. I just want to get drunk,” you respond, shrugging.

“Rough night?” Xiaojun looks up at you as he begins to make your drink.

“You could say that,” you sigh again, propping your face up on the counter top with your palm.

“I’m all ears if you want to talk about it, um…”

“Y/N,” you supply, “and thanks. I’m sure I’ll go on some drunken tirade anyways, so be prepared.”

The elderly man is quiet as the two of you chat, a knowing smile across his face. He finishes the rest of his drink before clearing his throat, taking his brief case from the seat beside him. Placing some bills on the counter top, he says, “Anyways, I gotta get going. The missus is waiting for me back home.”

“So soon?” Xiaojun asks, surprised.

“Yup,” he replies, “I’ll see you later, Xiaojun.”

“Alright, be careful.”

The man turns to leave and you wave him goodbye. He winks at you as he gets out of his seat, and you’re confused as to why but you smile at him anyway.

“Here’s your drink,” Xiaojun says, setting a glass in front of you.

The concoction is red at the very bottom before it turns light pink at the top, like an ombré effect. You can’t help but marvel at how beautiful it is (just like him).

“Wow,” you breathe, “it’s so pretty.”

“It’s called Love Affair,” he explains, before turning red and immediately beginning to splutter. “U-Um, the name is weird but it’s my favorite drink, so uh…”

“Thank you,” you say, smiling at how flustered he is. You bring the glass to your lips and take a sip. It burns slightly, but you don’t particularly hate the feeling. It’s tangy, like a citrus fruit but also a little sweet.

“How is it?” Xiaojun asks, a touch of anxiousness in his expression.

“I like it,” you say, drinking more.

“I’m glad,” he beams, looking both relieved and proud.

It doesn’t take you long to finish it, and he makes you some of his other favorites. You feel the buzz get progressively stronger, and it’s only a matter of time before you’re drunk. Xiaojun can tell too because the drinks he gives you becomes more and more diluted with each glass. He’s in the middle of making your fifth drink when the rational part of your brain finally logs out.

“Do you ever feel like giving up and just becoming a homeless person for the rest of your life?” you ask, slightly slurring.

Xiaojun looks up, amused. Your face is flushed and your hands are on your warm cheeks as you just barely manage to prop yourself up. Whether it’s intentional or not, you’re slightly swaying back and forth to the background music. You look absolutely adorable and he feels his heart rate quicken.

“Actually, I have,” he says truthfully. “Why?”

“Well, I currently feel like that right about now,” you confess, “and it sucks.”

“Did something particular happen?” he asks gently.

“I’m a med student,” you explain, “and finals are coming up. I’ve been studying nonstop, but it feels like nothing is sticking. It’s just―so much is banking on these exams and I don’t know what I’m gonna do if I fail. How on Earth am I gonna pay back my student loans? What if I become one of those losers that live in their parents’ basement because they can’t get a job? What if I become a beggar on the side of the streets?”

You don’t realize you’re crying until Xiaojun gently dabs your tears away with a napkin. You’re embarrassed but not nearly as much as you would be if you were sober. Sniffling, you try to apologize but he doesn’t let you.

“Look at me,” he says gently, cupping your face with his hands and slightly squishing your cheeks together. His hands feel cool against your skin. “I’ve felt exactly the same before, but you know what? It’ll pass. Don’t freak yourself out. Study hard like you have been, and you will do just fine. Make sure to take breaks too. Oh, and don’t go to bars during the middle of exam season either.”

You laugh, slightly leaning into his touch. Xiaojun looks down at your lips, and for a moment, you think he’s going to kiss you before he steps back and takes his hands away from your face. You pout as he does.

“Right,” his voice cracks and he clears his throat, “you’ve had enough drinks. I’ll call you a cab, so go home.”

You whine, but he’s not having it. Once you realize your sulking isn’t going to work, you huff loudly and fish out your wallet. “How much do I owe you?”

“Nothing,” he replies, “it’s on the house. As a good luck to your exams.”

You smile at him. “You’re very sweet, Xiaojun.”

He rolls his eyes, but there’s a pink tinge to his cheeks. You try to get up, but your legs feel like jelly, and you fall back into your seat again. Xiaojun immediately is at your side, wrapping your arm around his shoulders as he helps you leave. He manages to get a cab within minutes and even shoves some money in your hands for the fare.

“For more good luck,” he says, grinning.

You want him to kiss you so badly that you blurt, “Kiss me. For even more good luck.

Xiaojun’s eyes widen, and it’s cute, but his response is less so. “I can’t. You’re drunk.”

Damn him for being a gentleman.

“But…maybe tomorrow,” he promises, brushing his thumb across your cheek.

The cab driver honks, and Xiaojun quickly ushers you in the car. He waves at you as you drive away. When you can no longer see him anymore, you let out the breath you’ve been holding and lean back. You can’t tell if your face is warm from the alcohol or something else.

I didn’t see the ombré at first it’s stunning!!!😍 You surprise me every time with your hair creations,LOOOOOVE them💚But just a short question; would it be possible for you to make the ponytail and bangs in one style, because I really love the bangs, however I would like them more as a full hairstyle then as accessory, so would be amazing if you could do that, anyways I stannn that hair great job!!

Thank you so much! for the same reason, I made it separate, since you have the option of adding bangs or not, I thought it would be more comfortable, since there are some people who do not like fringes, and there are others who love them, so I miss it as an accessory! and well, I really don't think I'm going to put the whole hair together, because it would be the same, I just wouldn't have the option to add / remove the bangs!.

I have cut 6.5 "scissors with my Olivia Garden, which go deep into the depth and cut long layers to give it texture and movement.

Then, I foamed with Kevin Murphy's Heated Defense for his ability to protect her hair from temperatures up to 450 degrees F, and our volumizing help was Kevin Murphy's Anti Gravity Spray for his ability to remember our style and our weightless lift. Finally, with my Paul Mitchell Express-ion XL, I styled Curling Iron, which gives her long hair a lazy wave with a 1.5-inch barrel.

Any advice for someone considering it?

This color has been tinted over previously blonde hair with Redken Shades EQ, so it will need some care. Gloss levels only last 4-6 weeks, depending on your home care. If you use cool water for the shampoo at home, shampoo 1-2 times a week while using dry shampoo in between, you can keep that color alive and beautiful longer.

Summer time is fun in the sun and that can also cause some colors to fade to age. If you go outdoors for baseball games, for cooking or just for a drink on the patio, I always recommend using a product with UV protection first. My favorite sunscreen for my hair is Shimmer Shine or Shimmer Me Blonde by Kevin Murphy. I love the fact that it not only protects your hair from the sun, but also has super pretty, opulent mica pieces that sparkle in the sunlight.

When I get into a chlorinated pool or the sea, I also recommend using a leave-in conditioner before I wet the hair. The use of a leave-in conditioner helps to balance the porosity, to trap the color and to prevent the color from fading so much.

I always recommend wearing a hat in summer and trying not to put your hair underwater. Our final form of getting that particular color for this look would be to come back for a quick shine and an outburst when it begins to fade.

This particular shade is beautiful on light skin tones with a warm undertone to look as natural as possible.

How would you describe this look?

This is a half and half color melted mermaid hair that is currently in vogue. For this masterpiece, I wanted the green to be the main attraction. I knew my line would fall to that half-and-half look at the side of the green that's the one I wanted to emerge from! That's how I knew it would completely change half the look and create a more dimensional look.

Dimension! That's what I love most about this look! You can see the different shades of blue and mint and then green. (I used Guy Tang's MyDentity Mystic Blue, Arctic Blue and Mint of Steel and Pulp Riot, as well as Absinthe and Area 51.)

Then I opted for the styling of using a 1 "rod to give these beautiful mermaid waves, and in the end I used Shine Spray for the finishing touch. (My favorite shine spray #mystardustshinespray by Guy Tang Mydentity.)

Any advice for someone considering it?

I think a color like this looks great on light skin, but overall, if you have a great personality, you can rock pretty much anything! Everything is in the attitude!

Things to keep in mind when doing color like this is that you need to have a clean level 10 canvas, so I want to make sure I use a pH bonder to protect the hair from damaging the flash process (I use Olaplex). A good brightener to achieve a perfect clean canvas is the key to great results (My favorite is Guy Tang Big 9).

These colors take a very long time to reach, so be prepared to spend the day with your hairdresser. Also keep in mind that these colors are very expensive, but they are so worth it.

Now I always recommend to my customers to use a sulfate-free shampoo and a good hair mask (Pai Shau Supreme Revitalizing Mask is my favorite), healthy hair is very important to me! Using the right products after the application will help your colors last longer.

Light Clear Blue Hues

How would you describe this look?

It definitely makes me think of a clear blue sky, maybe with a few clouds, especially after I made it look the way I did. Also with the cut and style of my client (she has many tattoos / additions), it really makes me think of old school punk / grunge.

We like to cut the layers fairly short to give the whole thing a more shag look. It also has shorter bangs, so it definitely gives you more of this punk mood. This is my favorite thing about this cut / style – you can make it look a bit more polished or you can really mess it up and have fun with it.

Any advice for someone considering it?

This type of color is very caring and can be harmful if you do not handle it properly. My customer comes every 6 weeks at least usually only about half an inch to one inch regrowth. This allows easy and safe regrowth with the brightener. For anyone with dark hair, I would not recommend this type of color. For people who want more of the pastel colors, I would stay with someone who is naturally blond / tan.

For those who want something on the blue / green side of the spectrum like this client, it's a little more engaging, as the underlying greens can be pretty hard to remove. Usually I always make sure that they are willing to leave it that way for a while when I'm doing a blue / green at a customer. The key to this is that you do not wash your hair as often and wash in cold water and with moisture.

Investing in good products is a crucial factor! Use sulfate-free, paraben-free, sodium chloride-free products, less alcohol with styling products and less heat, as you can immediately melt your color!

My favorite part of this look is the fat bang that sits under her forehead and frames both sides of her face. Her haircut was so much fun. I love how her face is like a mischievous fairy. She wears her hair up, but with bangs down, so her ponytail's look is glamorous with longer pieces that she could pull along sides of the face to soften her look.

I framed her pony hairdo in black, thinking it would be wonderfully combined with her naturally inky dark lashes. My color picker for her hair was inspired by beta fish, so I kept dark blue, light blue and mint green as our main colors with sections of pink, purple and neon green puzzling under and around the face frame.

Melting is the name of the game. I want one color to change to another. A constant ebb and flow, I did not want a staccato rhythm in my hair, which distracts the attention of her bang! My goal was to create movement in the hair that has a soothing effect on the top and then opens in bold pops of color. The dark blue shadow root helps enormously in the way her hair goes over during the growth / fading out.

Any advice for someone considering it?

Every time a customer comes in and asks for Rainbow Mermaid hair, I first look for personality. How does she get over? Is she wide open? Or is it reserved? If it is quiet, I would choose pastel shades and softer tones for this relaxed atmosphere. If she is brave then I would of course choose strong colors! Skin tone? Is she brown or pale? Do I have to create undertones in their color to combine them with their skin tone?

My advice is, whatever you do, start with a clean canvas. I take all my clients to level 9 or higher. The cleaner the canvas, the more beautiful the fading will be. I think about fading more than the original color. Yes, it's a process of turning into a blonde, but worth the wait, especially when it turns into pastels! It feels good to receive compliments 2 months after the color, so do it the first time!

Some girls come in unaware. I start her in baby steps. The appearance of color through the neckline or a small panel on the side can be enough to make you feel brave and empowered! Hair can literally change your view of life! Create a work of art that can not only be enjoyed by you and your customers, but can also bring joy to the people around you.
