Back to the point of "what will happen to the gown afterward" - If your bride was also not nobility (or even if she was nobility but not really that wealthy) the dress would also most likely become her "best gown" for as long as she was able to wear it.
Only the richest people got to have a one time dress, even though it's more of the norm these days.
Everyone else would wear it for years to come.
Also - hasty weddings? No time for a special made gown. She'd toss on whatever her current best dress was, and call it good.
Extremely nitpicky but I hate white wedding gowns in fantasy, especially when they make absolutely no sense in the setting. No, that culture in the far north that prioritizes function over form and mostly wears heavy furs would not have the means, ability, or desire to make a sleeveless ivory silk gown with a semi-sweetheart neckline. Please be sensible about this and use your creativity instead of just slapping a Kleinfeld wedding gown into a medieval fantasy setting.
#I wore white at my wedding but it was technically an out of season Easter dress I got off the clearance rack for $60#a friend of mine wore a gorgeous black and gold dress at her goth wedding and it was so amazing#another friend wore wine red at her wedding#please think outside the box and skip the white dresses for historical fiction#and in your own modern day weddings just find the least expensive option that sparks joy and save those thousands of dollars#with the money we saved by having a dirt cheap wedding we were able to get a house within the first year
