Just finished Lesson 17 Hard Mode ( Don't @ me. I'm taking anything I can get to stay invested ) and like.... Did Michael just love bomb the Angels? (ಥ ͜ʖಥ)
Maybe my ass just hates gifts cause I'm so difficult but like... Weird doting vibes- Anyways weirdly I feel bad for Raphael being caught in the middle of it all - He's so awkward I see myself in him (ಥ ͜ʖಥ)(ಥ ͜ʖಥ)

In Defense of Lucifer
So, this is literally the take that no body asked for-- but it has been swimming in my mind so here we go:
Is anyone going to acknowledge the themes of abuse in regard to the demon brothers? Especially Lucifer?
Please note: I have only played up to 23, with the completion up to 22 but even with that being said... Lucifer reads as someone who may have had some abuse/neglect.
He has some very... unhealthy tendencies with his possessiveness, and his quick reliance on intimidation and violence (though that is also a trope in these types of games in general, much to the stoic, intimidating stereotype). However, we also know that underneath all of that- Lucifer is portrayed as being genuinely caring and protective of his siblings.
While I can agree that the situation with Belphie wasn’t handled the best, Lucifer really couldn’t have done anything because while Diavolo is fond of him... he is still the crowned Prince of the Devildom and must be able to choose to do things for the greater good of his kingdom: This includes removing any person that may pose a threat to the balance of the three realms and their interaction with each other.
Keep in mind... Lucifer has lost his sister to the Celestial Realm and has a disdain for the ‘Father’ figure we have yet to meet, and yet...
When ‘Father’ is brought up, it is almost in relation to Lucifer being the former pride of heaven but you know what is forgotten?
Lucifer is the eldest. He was the Commander, along with Michael, of the Legion of Angels and watched over the others. It is stated that the rebellion was started for reason other than Lilith’s situation...
Remember how Lucifer relies heavily on intimidation to get his point across?
As an angel, as a ‘son’ of his Father, Lucifer may have not known anything but that cold, distant, harsh type of love. If Lilith’s punishment for trying to save her lover (which could be a whole other narrative of abuse and making connections outside of the unhealthy relationship) was to be killed/cast aside, what other punishments might have Lucifer gone through?
What other things could he have been subjected to as the eldest?
He is hard to reach for his siblings, yes, and he could be better at communication but when you are trying so hard to protect someone from the wrath of someone they should be able to trust-- it makes it hard to connect and let your guard down. There could also be some implications in him being Michael’s ‘favorite’... In one of the conversations about that, his sprite looks troubled and not exasperated in the way some of his animations are.
Sometimes, in an abusive household, especially with older siblings, the oldest will step into a protective/caretaker role and they can appear especially aloof, removed and distant to those who are in similar age brackets/younger than them. Abuse victims can also have a hard time making connections and allowing themselves to relax and trust that a person’s affections/attractions are genuine-- does that call to mind how a certain Avatar of Pride regards a certain Prince?
Not to mention... As an angel, under his Father’s rule, Lucifer would have been in a constant unbalanced power dynamic and being the Pride of Heaven would have alienated him even more: Doomed to be a subordinate to Father but also far above other angels, with exception of Michael.
It would be isolating and he would have known that for the entirety of his existence up until he fell... which would mean he would model the behaviors he has grown up with. A favor for power dynamics (Who is the oldest and most powerful?), using manipulation/violence to show how much he cares (Mammon is his favorite and yet, his interactions with him are rarely outwardly sweet and Mammon is very much distrusting of him when he isn’t harsh), and a soft core that he repeatedly tries to stifle/hide?
There is a lot of hints that perhaps, for Lucifer, the Celestial Realm was anything but beautiful and peaceful. Is it any wonder that he doesn’t want to ever return when in the Devildom he has started the journey of stepping into relationship dynamics that are terrifying but healthier?
