I was travelling while sleep deprived when I decided to clean up some paper sketches to digital, and to avoid obsessing over lines I switched brush to a ruthless 0 stabilisation fine tip (default on procreate).

It was surprisingly relaxing, especially because the paper sketch took out a lot of the fiddling I would have done otherwise.

So then… how to colour? And I decided to be as obnoxious as possible and use chromatic aberration + halftone and ngl it’s FunTM!!! I have one more page of sketches to clean out + colour, so let’s see if the magic will happen again! 🤞

Just thinking about all the times that Dongfang Qingcang and Xiao Lanhua tried to out-care and out-sacrifice for each other is giving me MAJOR whiplash.

DFQC: To help my people accept you as my queen, I will take on the Bone-eating Spikes. Suffering hours are midnight till dawn every night for an unspecified amount of time.

XLH: To prove that I deserve to stay by your side as your queen, I’ll stay in the Fuju cave for three days. I know you said in its whole history, only you made it out alive, but… no worries, I got this. :)

DFQC: Fine, I’ll allow this, but ONLY because I want to respect your choices and show that you’re my equal in this relationship. That’s the only reason why I would even consider this.

XLH: Thank you. Now…drink this substance so that you won’t feel any of the pain with me. I’ll suffer like hell for three days BY MYSELF, you hear?

DFQC: Fine. I’ll just raise your spirit seed until you literally resurrect into a goddess. I’ve done this before (taken care of you and nursed you back to health) so I’m basically an orchid expert now.

XLH: Fine, but when I come back, I’ll pretend I don’t remember you so that I can protect you from the fact that I’ll sacrifice myself again, to kill the evil god.

DFQC: Yeah but I figured out what you’re trying to do. So I decided I’m going to literally change your entire destiny because ily. *kisses then vanishes*

XLH: But when the evil god is consuming you and all of the realms’ immortals and armies need to use all their power to hold you back, I’m going to walk towards you by myself because I can 100% take care of this sacrifice on my own, thanks tho!

So, I just found out my husband cheated on me three years ago with his ex. She has been haggling him for money, because she has twins and there is a possibility they could be his. I still love him, but I'm not sure how to feel right now. He is all I have, so I didn't know who to turn to. Thanks.

Ugh I’m so sorry, sweetheart. I wouldn’t wish being cheated on on my worst enemy. Priority numero uno is getting a paternity test. Y’all need to know for sure if those kids are his, and make sure you go through a clinic of your choice, that way it can’t be fudged by her. And while there is never an excuse for cheating and I always advise you leave the person who cheated on you, I know things aren’t always that easy so just remember that it doesn’t make you a weak if you do choose to stay with him. It’s just very important that if you do choose to stay, that you get into couple’s counseling ASAP and also set up barriers to make sure that this never happens again. Also, make sure you focus on you in this situation. I can imagine it’d be easy to make it all about him, like why he did what he did and what he was feeling at the time but it’s important to take care of yourself in this time too. You’ve been deeply betrayed by someone you were supposed to be able to trust and that’s something you need to grieve and recover from. Take care of yourself, babe ♥️

LIFE ADVICE: Post #1 Adventure is out there...

So y’all know your girl Emily starts college in two weeks (check out this post from my main blog)

Because I’ve been through the pain we Americans like to call high school, here is some (friendly?) advice from someone who just graduated.

NUMERO UNO

This is going to sound super mainstream, but I wouldn’t type it if I don’t find it to be true. So here we go -- start thinking about college ASAP. If that means doing campus tours, browsing the web, and working your butt off to study for the SAT, go for it.

Here’s my biggest mistake that I highly do not recommend. My senior year of high school, I waited until February to apply to the college that I wanted. Just so you know, that is a terrible idea. Do NOT wait until the last minute -- the stress is real! Applying for colleges is a lot of work. There are essays (yes, essays) to type for some schools, forms to fill out, FAFSA (to get financial aid because college is hella expensive), and sometimes money to pay for application!

But here’s the thing about applying for colleges. You have to take into account your entire high school career. A 3.0 vs a 2.8 cumulative GPA could mean the difference between getting in and being left at the door. Everything matters. From the classes you take, your SAT or ACT score, to the awards and appraisals received from teacher, to the clubs you joined. EVERYTHING COUNTS. So make the most of high school.

NUMMER ZWEI

Work. Your. Butt. Off. I mean it. Your four years of high school isn’t something you can just blow off. Work hard. Study hard. Give it your everything, and I promise you won’t regret it.

What you will regret is snoozing through class and misbehaving. Not studying for your most difficult exam, because in the long run, these things will matter. Your education will matter. It isn’t always about what you learn, kids. It’s about the mental processes and wires connecting in your brain. It’s the skills you develop and the curiosity that you feed that matters. And when you realize that school is actually important; when you realize that learning is important. When you realize that everything you powered through matters in the end.

That’s when your view on education is transformed. And you will get something out of it. Whether it be a doctor, a lawyer, a business man, a graphic designer, you name it -- what you learn and what you do truly shapes who you are.

This is your high school life. Don’t make your adult self regret it.
