#I will deadass never play another splatfest again

a rant wow okay

so i didn’t grow up on nintendo games much. me and my brother would play on the PS2 and PS3, things like Skylanders and Little Big Planet, hell, Crash Bandicoot from time to time. i remember asking for a WiiU for Christmas once, and instead my parents bought me a sewing machine. which!! Is so totally sweet!! but i will Never Use it ever again. 

(i did try once. i tried making something for my dad, but i didn’t get the chance to finish it for him before he passed)

anyway, when i found out what splatoon was in late 2016-early 2017, i wanted a WiiU again. i didn’t know much about splatoon, i just knew i loved how it looked. and Especially the music. i begged and begged my mother, who just said no right to my face. (which, ow???? that hurts??????)

so, i begged even more (believe it or not) and then i saw splatoon 2 came out. and you can only guess what my next hype was about, all day, all night. yep. the nintendo switch. so, more begging was put down again and again, and eventually i gave up with trying (note: trying. not thinking. my best friend of the time had one, so i played until my eyes hurt when i went to their house, and they didn’t mind)

my mother passed shortly afterwards, and left some money for my uncle to give us as we grew up. y’know, it was kinda made to spend on CONSOLES and GAMES for us. animal crossing new horizons came out, and not long before i had played it with my best friend, nico. we’re both still Fully Obsessed now, don’t think we aren’t. so, everyone and their mothers are playing this new game, and i was feeling pretty bummed. lockdown had just begun, and everyone had a way of (basically) seeing eachother, as close as they could. and i didn’t.

something to note: i’m a people person. i love being around my friends, because i feed of their energy. so being stuck inside all day, with nothing to do, whilst a pandemic killed off so many people, was heartbreaking for me.

in january, there was another lockdown. cases began to go up in england, so we had to shut ourselves away again. but my aunt said to me that if i did enough work, we could try and get one to keep me fucking sane. and i? i was over the fucking MOON!! i was deadass bouncing off walls, not even kidding. they come in stock in about four days from now, and i’m really excited to get my little hands on one!!

ANYWAY, the point of this post was: i never got to experience splatoon 1 or 2 for myself. i never partook in splatfests, simply because i couldn’t. i could never play salmon run. but with splatoon 3? i’m going to be there. i’m gonna fight in each splatfest like it’s the last thing i’ll ever do. i’ll experience the Shit that people say is salmon run.

so, i’ll see you there. i’ll be by your side till the end of splatoon 3. i promise. :)
