preceramic/aceramic period in the LB/LoS? okay that is a wacky claim that I didn't consider before
I find unlikely that hornset are ancient enough to not have access to pottery, specially considering that Rauh/Uhl clearly had ceramic and predescent them.
Perhaps could be a interceramic, in which pottery knowledge was lost or was restricted due resource scarcity or a collapse in the interexchange net limitting access to vases and jars in wide range forcing the adoption of other means to prosced their rites, like baskets and sundry earthware with grog
I found more likely that those bloodfiend did this to themself like part of some new rite, since bloodfiends are people of the LoS victim of the Great Crusade that got scared to the point to twisted their ways & as consecuence their bodies too.
I finally made it into the cavern with the stone coffins and I started bumping into these guys. The first thing I noticed is that they have baskets on their lower halves, like they were a much older iteration of what the Hornsent were doing with the shaman village. Back before they started working clay and were still using baskets for a lot of things. The baskets look like they are part of the bloodfiends, permanently melded to their skin.
The second thing I noticed, upon closer inspection, is that they sort of look like the same species as the Alabaster Lord. Or they used to be, anyway, before the Hornsent got their hands on them.
