Oh I see! I went to reread the context and I can why they were referring to Sizhui since he was very active in the chapter. My interpretation of it being jc was because I didn’t think they/mxtx/readers could refer to sizhui as wwx’s shidi since technically he isn’t wwx’s shidi. Plus, in the original story synopsis there was a clear mention of a ‘shidi’ playing an active/main role in wwx’s story, so I thought the authors note and readers were referring to that as well in the earlier chapters.

…The shidi whom he supported and protected his whole life brought people/guards and occupied/destroyed his old lair… —> we know said shidi here is good ole jc

May I also add that in the web novel, in the first chapter where everyone is talking smack about wwx, jc is also referred to as wwx’s shidi (reliable narrator or not, the word shidi has been used)

Also a side note: just translation things, if the shidi in the second translation refers to jc for OP/them, why not the shidi in the first translation also refers to jc?

Chapter 3 A/N I was referring to and thought was jc as the misinterpreted gong:

Shidi is not the gong~ Gong is a main character in the text… (The same as the translation OP is referring to, except for not writing shidi in and writing junior disciple, which is a correct translation/explanation for first time readers)

Chapter 10 A/N OP is referring to:

我造你们讨厌师弟，别急，师弟你好哭着跪下道歉缩对不起 （喂！

I know you all really hate shidi, don’t be anxious… (The translation OP refers to is correct, I just want to point out shidi these two words)

a thing about mdzs I’m still so amused by till today is how when mxtx released the first few chapters, there were apparently so many readers who thought that the gong was gonna be jiangcheng/shidi that mxtx had to write an a/n saying the gong was not shidi
