Golden eyes Chapter 18
“He's... he's dying. He's only got a few years left to live.” Mickey explained with sadness.
It was quiet in the room. Walt Disney is dying? I never heard of his health condition in bad condition.
“He have lung cancer. The doctors say he's lucky he's still got a few years left compared to others... But I'm worried...” Mickey said.
“Is that why you were needed today?” Oswald asked him.
He nodded. “But that's not the only reason. They also wanted me to become the next successor to the Disney company. But I don't like their idea!”
We were surprised yet confused. “You didn't want to become a cartoonist?” Oswald asked. “No. I do like drawing and wanted to become one, but that's not the problem!” He told him.
“You don't want to be the next successor then?” I asked him. “Not... exactly. I do, but I wanted to earn it with my own efforts. But that not it either!”
He turned his head a few times to look at us until he yelled in frustration. “AHHHHHHHH! Don't you get it?! They're giving me the whole heritage for when our father will pass away!”
“So?” Oswald asked. “You can direct the studio, products, and the amusement par-”
“That's NOT the REAL problem!” He cut off his brother. “I'm saying that there's no mentioning of YOU in it.” He pointed out.
They... never mentioned Oswald? The heck is this?!
“Why would that upset you?” He sounded like he was used to being forgotten.
“Why are you not upset?! You're the first one AND you have impressive talents too! You even knew the studio better than I can! It's not fair for you!” He tried to convince him.
“They probably think that you're more suited than I am. After all, you're better with people than I am.” He explained. I knew what he meant, but it makes his little brother even angrier.
“They just don't know you better! Besides, I don't care if I had to share the inheritance, you deserve it too!” He tried to convince him.
“I never said I wanted to BE the next in line! Have you ever thought of that?!” Aw snap! Now Oswald is getting mad!
“But there's still nothing for you if I agreed!” Mickey said back.
“I DON'T CARE! I'M USED TO IT!” Oswald yelled at him.
“IT'S STILL NOT RIGHT FOR YOU!” He yelled back.
I sensed this is gonna turn ugly if I don't do something. Then suddenly I yelled at them to stop, lunged forward, took them down with my elbows and we were on the floor. I don't know why I did that, but hey! At least they stopped fighting for a few seconds.
“Is this how you handle when your nephews started to fight each other?” Oswald asked me when he was calmed down. (and he's himself again.)
“Er... No. I actually separate them, but with our height and... you know.” I realized that I was on top of them... and I immediately got off of them. They both sat up and looked away from each other, feeling a bit guilty. Mickey then confessed. “I'm sorry, Oswald. I should have thought about what you really wanted.”
“I'm sorry too. I know you'd do that for me, but I guess I was... stubborn. I'm used to being in the shadows so much that I started to 'adapt' to my second best.” Oswald said while scratching his back head.
“I just wanted you to have the best too! I hate it when they keep forgetting you when it's CLEARLY obvious you're my big brother.”
“Half-brother.” He pinched his little brothers cheeks and spread them a bit. “REAL brother to me!” Mickey then did the same with him. They struggled a bit and Oswald then lock his head and gave him a noogie. “GAH! NOT THE NOOGIE, OSWALD!” He struggles from his grasp until Oswald lets go and he fell back. His older brother laughs as he puffed his cheeks and fixed his hair.
“You really should work on your character.” Mickey told him.
“When people ‘actually’ started to notice me, I will. Now what else is new in our crew?” He fires back at him.
“Well, since you asked so 'politely,' we haven't heard or see anything unusual. I don't know if Bendy DID received that 'special' order. Maybe we foiled his drug renewal plan?” Mickey's got a point. When we switched those necklaces back at that King Dice Casino, the manager must have noticed they were fakes and thus Bendy wouldn't have that 'special' machine from them.
Yet I still have that gut feeling it's not over yet.
“I doubt Bendy will give up that easily. We both knew him well enough that he can play dirty sometimes.” Oswald just had the same idea as mine.
“But we're talking about the King Dice staff and those two assassin magicians! I doubt Bendy can manage those guys even WITH all of his men and Boris at his side.” Mickey explained the exact same thing from what Sam told me.
“Don't forget. He can also 'hire' some professional thieves with the right price. I knew he has a few at his disposal.” Oswald was then explaining HIS reasons to believed why it's not over.
“So what's the plan now? Is there something I can do?” I was hoping to be any use in this final step to this webbed case.
“Nah. You've done your part. This is personally between us and Bendy.” Oswald 'shooed' me with his hands.
“Excuse me?!” What does that mean? “I want to stop his drug renewal too! Mickey! You were there with me when he was talking about it at the House of Mouse, remember?”
“I know... But... this is something more personal.” He told me with his eyes looking away.
I can't believed what I'm hearing. I helped them with the necklaces and the animals, but they wouldn't let me do the drug bust, which let me remind you that THIS was my biggest problem right now!
“Why can't I? I don't want Bendy's drugs landed on the streets again too! I don't care for the fame of busting it, I'm doing this for the public safety!”
“It's not the drugs we're concerned about, māo.” He then spatted at me.
“Than what did Bendy do to you?” I got up. “Did he did something that got on your bad side? Did he black mailed you or your friends and family? Was it about that heist that happened many years ago?”
He then got angry, got up, grabbed my collar and glared straight in my eyes. Mickey quickly got up and tried to break us up.
“Why the heck would it matter to you? You did your job and we're very 'thankful' for your help. Now you can leave the rest to us. Now drop it!”
“Oswald! Felix! Enough! This is not the time to be fighting each other!” Mickey pleaded and tried to yank his brother's grip on me.
“I'm not 'dropping' it! Not until 'WE' destroy that new drug trafficking!” I'm not getting off this case without a fight.
“Why are you so fixated on drugs? Did you needed that stuff or something?” He then said those fighting words.
I snapped and I sucker punched him across the face really quick. It surprised both of them as Oswald let go of my shirt and staggered a bit. His nose started to bleed a bit. I then feel horrible of what I just did. I immediately took out a napkin and handed to him. “I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't snapped like that. Do you need medical or something?”
He snatched it and whipped his bloody nose. “I never heard of anyone dying from a minor nose bleed. But I must admit, that was a pretty good punch. You could have done well in our practice.”
“I didn't mean to punch you like that! I just... I don't use drugs.” I told him off.
“Then how can you explained some of the marijuana leaves that was stuck on your jacket from that night you went berserk?”
“I was hidden in that delivery truck that Bendy's men have loaded most of those marijuana and they even took that poisonous flower, the oleander, to their new hiding place somewhere at the docks. I understand that you guys wanted to strike only once because of Bendy's 'secrecy' policy.” I knew it had to be at one of the docks, but the big question is which one we can raid without setting off an intruder alert to the mafia?
“ Hēi māo, you still haven't explained why are you so fixated on the drugs. What's your angle?” Oswald asked again with his poker expression with a raised eyebrow.
I did attack him out of anger... so I told him why I wanted to stop it. “...Meera Kat.”
“Huh? Meera Kat? Who's she?” Mickey asked.
“She used to be an honorary student and class president of the first years in her high school. Good grades, great athlete and she had a scholarship for a top collage when she graduated... at least she was.” I was serious.
“What happened to her?” Mickey sounded worried.
“Bendy Drew happened. He gave her those 'leaves' as a 'sample.' She then was addicted to it. Her grades, her performance, and her upheld 'image' started to drop. She even depleted all of her college savings for those things. Until one day, she was collapsed at school and rushed to the emergency room. She was unconscious and the doctors reported that she got 'stoned' or something. Whatever that means.” I scratched my head out of thinking what words they meant, but I knew what they were talking about.
Mickey gasped. “How horrible!”
“That's hardly compared after she woke up. She then got expelled, lost her college benefit, and just to make it worse, her own parents disowned her... leaving her homeless.”
“Disowned...” Mickey's face expression says that he remembered that feeling. Oswald put a hand on his shoulder. “She's not going to harm you anymore, remember?” Mickey looked at his brother and was relieved with a small smile. He nodded. “You're right. I'm sorry, Felix. Please continue.” He asked. I wondered who was that person they’ve mentioned, but I think I'll ask him for another time.
“As I was saying, she was ruined. Everyone that knew her have 'left' and she was all alone. She was only fifteen. But luckily, it didn't ended there.” I smiled a bit.
“Sam was able to helped her. He started to help by being one of those people who lend a shoulder to cry on, despite his realistic personalty. It started to pay off after a few days of visits when she finally admits why she did took them. She was under pressure from her prideful parents, teachers and peers for her grades and expectations. She was on her breaking point until 'he' offered those drugs as a 'stress relief' for her at a price.”
“Poor Meera Kat. Being under peer pressure was bad enough... but that fear of disappointments, I can relate to that.” Mickey then frowned again and looked down. “My mom... was always expected highly of my performances... If I made a little mistake, she'd make me practice even longer and harder. I almost hated tap dancing if it wasn't for our escape and our freedom with the Red Dragons.”
His mother was abusive to MICKEY too? “Then what happened to her? Did her parents forgave her?” He questioned.
“Not exactly. They were too 'haughty' to take her back. Sam have managed to contact one of her relatives and her aunt have decided to take her in so she can start a new life. After she was 'cleaned,' and was determined to set on the right track again, she now lives with a happier lifestyle at her aunt's ranch in Texas. Last time we heard from her, she send a thank you letter for giving her a second chance and decided to raise horses after her aunt.” I was glad when she did.
“Not that I don't understand or enjoy happy endings, but what does she have to do with this?” Oswald questioned.
“She was a victim of drug usage. Peer pressure is one thing, but Bendy have took her in her most vulnerable state in his advantage and takes all of her savings just to make a few bucks and in Meera's case, she's was only fifteen. That's only seven years older than my nephews. Can't you imagine if it happens to them? What would that affect to the other kids? They don't only follow the adults examples, you know. I wanted to stop any possible drug trafficking so none of them will have to go through the same horrible experience like she did. I doubt that they'll be as lucky as her... or worse.” No kid should have to go thought like she did...
“So that's your reason for wanting to stop this drug trafficking?” Oswald questioned again.
“Yes, for the safety of my city and for kids like her and mines.” Now please let me join again for one more time on this.
They were quiet for a minute until I got my answer from Oswald. “Only if you follow our orders. Bendy knows your movements just as well as ours. However, we do have 'friends' in low places that can help us track their 'shipments.' Mean while, we should just continue our routine 'day' jobs and make it look like we're busy with something else. His 'employes' will eventually slip if it goes smoothly.”
“In other words, once they've slipped, we can get a chance to find their drug factory hide out!” Mickey simplified.
“But just to make sure it won't fall in their hands, I'll be keeping a close eye on the kids. Mostly teenagers. I may not be perfect in my supervision, but at least I can-”
“I understand why you wanted to do that, but it will only shift the problem if he founds out when you 'know' of his plan.” Mickey explained to me.
“You expected me to just let him sell it? I mean, sure it's one tactic but-” *WHACK!* I was greeted with Oswald's karate chop to the top of my head. REALLY hard! I fell backwards and I held my head in pain. “OW! I needed my head too, ya know?!” I glanced at him with one eye opened.
“That's for forgetting what I've just told you not a minute ago. We have 'friends' in low places here. Did you know that stunt men aren't just for the movie sets?” He said.
“What are they gonna do? Fake a car chase or leap from roof tops?” I know that it's a risky position, but I'm still a bit clueless on what he meant.
“What Oswald's trying to say is that our 'members' will act like any other 'customers' or 'dealers' and buys their stuff before they'll ended up in the streets or in the hands on those kids. So there's no need to worry.” Mickey helped me up as he cleared up on that part.
“I started to feel like you're two and the others are doing all of the work. Not to mention I feel almost completely useless in this crazy case.”
Mickey was surprised while Oswald 'tsked.'
“What do you mean, 'completely useless.' You did a very good job doing your end. You manage to track down a good hiding spot of their drug factory, even if we still don't have a clue which one it is yet.” Mickey tried to cheer me up.
“Did you forget you've played a big part of finding the real necklaces at the King Dice Casino. You even manage to find the mocking sapphire necklace. Some were from Ortensia's jewelries that I got her from our first date... it really means a lot to her.” Oswald calmly said.
“Nooooot to mention that you did pretty well on your investigations with the murdered Mr. Blancheure, your second trip to Mr. Vermelho's rental estate, and you also handled very well with my brother whenever you crossed path with him.” Mickey added.
... Only two of that was ri- Hey, wait just one, cotton, picking, tail a minute! “Mickey, how did you know I've investigated the second time at the rental estate?”
“Two things.” I turned at Oswald with his 'peace' sign. “One: Those marijuana leaves can only belong to Mr. Vermelho in this city. Two: I can hear you shuffling from the elephant bush and you didn't hide well from 'me.'” He then gently taped twice with his index finger next to his head, smirking. Translating to 'I can see and hear more than you think I can.'
Carp fish... I forgot he's got super hearing powers... Not to mention I now know he's got an eye for details! Yay! Detect my hidden breakfast stains and tell me what I ate while you're at it?
Speaking of lunch. “What time is it? I've lost track of it.”
Mickey looked at his watch. “It's a quarter past twelve. How about we all agreed on the case to just wait for a new lead and settle for that Mexican restaurant I've tried the other day? It's been a while since I had some spicy food.”
“That's because you were crying for water after you had just one bite.” Oswald told him.
“How am I supposed to know it was going to be THAT spicy?! Besides, I heard there's a 'mild' menu for those who couldn't handle it. So how about it?”
I did sort of forgot that today I've decided to eat out for lunch and that Mexican food sounded a good idea to try something new.
---- One time skipping lunch break later -------
Never again I'm going out eating with them.
Here's a 'funny' story that happened. When we arrived at that Mexican restaurant called the Mexicali, it was a very beautiful restaurant from the decor. The food and service was excellent. Our talk over our 'break' was pretty simple and we all agreed on. We just have to wait for Bendy to make a move first and then hit his secret drug factory. This time, they've included me in the search, but only for a look out. I don't blame them since the Alfonso mafia 'KNOWS' me quite well apart from a few tricks up my sleeves.
It was all going well until I got tricked to eat an extremely spicy sauce that Oswald secretly put a little bit on my taco salad while I was distracted by my conversation with his brother. I was lucky nobody was in the restroom at the time cause I bolted through the dinning area like a cheetah on a hunt pursuit!
Mickey made him apologized, but he wasn't feeling guilty. They payed for my meal to make up for it... I can still feel the burning sensation in my taste buds...
I was then dropped off in front of the station, not before they had to put their disguises on due to their... 'status.'
“If there's anything happens, you know where to find me chat noir.” Oswald said. Actually... “Where would that be?” I asked.
“Just go to the bazaar and asked anyone about a police officer. They'll do the rest.”
“Fine.” I got out of the car and they left.
Once I got back to my office, I glance at the calendar and I noticed that today was the day I was supposed to take my nephews to the zoo for a art project at school. They were supposed to draw their favorite animal and they wanted to see them. I gasped a bit.
What kind of an idiot I am for almost forgetting that! I know It's my responsibility to take care of them, but I'm not one of those 'tough' adults that only cared solely for his job. I wanted to be there for them too. When I was at their age, I hardly spend time with him apart when he's exhausted from work despite he's half machine... I was sometimes frustrated when he does, but I knew better than throwing a tantrum over that.
Sure I may not be perfect, but at least I'm doing the best I can to raise them to have a good characters. The only problem I have is my evil twin cousin, Alex Derussée. He's my biggest rival next to Bendy not in a mafia conflict, but trying to steal my girl. He's a thief and a dishonest dirty rat! One time I was at work, he's trying to give me a hard time by teaching the nephews stealing is alright and I had to deal with the aftermath and had to 'reeducate' why it's NOT alright to steal. No wonder my father didn't want them to be with one his relative when.... Never mind.
My head and my right foot was alright since before noon. My taste buds are still burning but I can always bring a water bottle. I wanted to be there for them even if I had to work harder and gave them good childhood memories.
--- Three hours later ----
“Tiger!” “Lion!” Tiger!” “Lion!” They both argued. Inky wanted to draw a tiger and Winky wanted to draw the lion. I guess not ALL twins think alike. “Settle down, both of you. We can do both. We'll go see the Tiger first since it's the closest, and then we can all see the lion after. Sounds good?”
“But Inky's gonna take forever to do the tiger, I know he will.” Winky said and pointed him. “Nuh-uh! I'm drawing fast, you're the one who's slow!” Inky spatted. “Am not!” “Are too!” They argued again. I sighed. “Enough. How about each can have a limit of fifteen minutes to draw. If one of you didn't finish on time, you can finish it at home and we can see the rest of the animals after, sounds good?”
They looked at me and then at each other. Then back at me. “Okay...” They said together. Whew! Hard to get them along sometimes when you need to make some boundaries. We then made it to the tiger pit and Inky was exited. He took his sketch book and the crayons and started right away with his drawings. Winky just watched the tigers while he's doing so. I sat on the bench and watched over. I can't believed they're eight now... it's been what? Four years since dad has been killed and two since the day I finally took custody of them. I remembered they were crying just as much as I did, even if I had to held back my tears a little. They told me at the time I was too young and didn't had enough to support them, so according to my father's will, they were send to our uncle in Scotland who's a detective in his own rights, Purlock Jones. We was supposed to enjoy his retirement until my father's death and he decided to take care of them. But I decided to be the one taking care of them, plus, he's done enough for us and at his age and theirs, it's hard to keep up.
I've went to the police academy right after graduation and I did my best to pass the courses despite they've told me I couldn’t do it because of my size. And now look at me, I've proven them wrong, I got my nephews back once I've earned enough for a living, (of course I've convinced my uncle to let me care for them.) and I'm one of the top detective in this city.
But I did admit it wasn't easy. Apart from life, I used to have problems with my 'sight' that I've covered already to anyone who has followed my past stories... But now that I have my mother's ring, I can now control it and I can focus better on my cases without their interruptions. But I might... 'ask' it if I'm REALLY stuck, or... I remembered that a few night ago that I had that 'dream' of meeting Bastet the second time. It was about my mom and that new 'technique' she taught me that I haven't used yet. She didn't appeared again either... Was is really all a dream or am I supposed to... 'use' the technique before I can 'see' her again?
With so many questions I wanted to ask her, I need to remember I have parental responsi-
I then had my eyes covered from someone from behind and there was a imitation voice. “Guess who?”
Huh? That voice sounded a bit familiar, even of it was a tone down. “... Sheba?”
“Did I made you worry for a second there?” She then lets go and I turned to her.
It really WAS Sheba Beboporeba, my friend in the police academy. She was my second friend and classmate who understood me. She's one of those tomboy girls that has a bit of an attitude but with a heart of gold. She doesn't like dresses and she's really a terrific undercover cop. I felt like it was ages that I last saw her.
“Sheba! I didn't know you were back in town! How was your visit to your grandmother? Is she doing well now?”
“Nah! Don't worry about her, she's doing great. New York was hardly any different from here. I just returned yesterday and I've visited at the station today but you weren't there. Kitty told and fill me in on what's been happening lately. You lucky black cat! Solving a big case of the missing necklaces for the famous Disney's heir, Mickey Walt Disney and his rabbit brother Oswald.” She then head locked me and gave a noogie just to tease.
Winky looked back to see who was giggling, the he was smiling and shouted. “Miss Sheba!” Inky then looked back and he puts down his drawing. “Sheba! You're back!” They ran to greet her with a hug. “Hey you two! Did you both behave while I was gone?”
“We did our best!” They said honesty... I'll let it slide a bit this time. My cousin wasn't around lately, which is a very good news to me.
“What are you all doing here? And what's with that drawing you were doing?” She asked them. Inky quickly got the sketch book and showed her the tiger drawing he's been doing.
“We're making an art project and we're supposed to draw our favorite animals. I did this! Mrarg!” He imitated the tiger and held it in front of his face. “I'm waiting for the lion, so I can draw it much cooler after he's finished.”
“Seems he just did. Wanna go there now?” She asked. I got up until I feel sore and yelped. “Ow!” I rubbed my shoulders. It must have been from that trow down he did...
“Uncle Felix, are you alright?” Inky worried. “Did you hurt yourself again?” Winky followed.
“No no! I just... had a few lessons with a new 'friend' of mine I've met a few days ago. I've been had with his surprise attack.” I explained them with the truth, but not to mention any details because it was Oswald and their favorite actor, Mickey.
“Oh really? I thought you might be getting old.” Sheba laughed and slapped on the other side of my shoulder, RIGHT where the pain was. I hold my screams with all my might and then I fell down on one of my knees after. “Uncle! Are you alright?”
“You don't look too good.” They said. I forced a smile. “Don't worry, I'm just a little tired from this morning. Now let's-” I got up and I staggered a bit. “You need a break, pops. Before you'll need a walking stick wherever you go.” Sheba teased but was serious and got me back to the bench. I'm not 'old,' I'm twenty one!
“I can take them to the lion's den. You take it easy for a few minutes and we'll be right back.” She said. “Alright, but be careful and you two behave for Sheba, she might be tired too from her flight.” I admit defeat and told them.
“Don't cha worry about me for now, relax and enjoy some time alone.” She told me and then takes them to the lion's den far from here.
I was then all alone with nobody else around. I took the opportunity to take off my glove with the Black ring of Bastet to see how it's been doing. It looks good so far, then I put it back on before anyone noticed.
I remembered when I've read about it and that they told me, there was supposed to be two sets of rings. They both had the same purpose, so I think it's probably when there's TWO people with the same 'sight.' or maybe... if I have a kid in the future... he or she might have the same eyes... but only IF I have a kid on my own! That's WAY later in life! I still have time! Just have to keep your focus on what matters most!
I have a goal to bring down the infamous Alfonso Mafia along with his successor, Bendy Drew, which he 'changed' his last name to De Mon since I was told he hated to be called by his real last name.
But I wasn't too stupid to devote ALL of my time just for that! I have friends and family I needed to spend time with. Kitty, Sheba, Inky, Winky, Sam, Woody... Even the new ones I've made during these past few days.
I sighed. Maybe I'm thinking way too hard on this... I think I might need to take a few easy jobs after this so I can just 'relax' a bit.
Then again... While they are at the lion's den, I might try and work on my 'sight' technique. Oswald DID say it grows stronger if I use it often. Of course he was a bit pissed when I said I haven't use it since the casino heist.
It sort of worked on some cats apparently from when I was looking through the Chinese circus the second time with that Mufasa lion. I wondered... I got up carefully and walked to the tiger pit to see the 'mighty' tiger drinking the water fountain.
So how am I supposed to do this again? It did it before on it's own... maybe if I close my eyes and concentrate to think alike or...
I then suddenly felt a jolt and a painful flash passed through me. I held on the bar before I fell aside. “Ow! That hurt!” I whispered.
'That's what you get for using your 'talents' beyond your limit, lost child of Bastet.' A male's voice rang in my head. I looked around and there was nobody there. 'Down here, kid. The same old man you were trying to communicate.' Huh? I looked at the tiger pit again to see who it was. 'He' was the one who was talking to me and was close enough to communicate, eye to eye.
'Took you long enough to 'woke' up that 'talent' of yours, but I guess your blood line was a little different and there was some circumstances from the rumors about your life.' He 'growled.'
Is he... communicating with me?! Did I just do something right on my first try? “H-how? I-Ow!” I felt a sharp pain in my left forehead. 'I told you. This is what you get for going beyond your limits. From where you are now, we had to keep this 'conversation' short as we can. Are you too curious about your 'talent?'
I looked around again in case of someone is near by. I whispered. “I... I barely knew anything about it until recently. I just wanted to know how to use it... I guess there's more to this mystery than it seems.”
'Then take this advice: Don't do anything that's beyond your limit. If you do without Bastet's blessings, you'll get more than just a head ache you just got. Besides, what else did you wanted from an old man like me?' He 'asked.'
“I... wanted to use my 'sight' so that I can use it in my advantage against the people who are responsible of my father's death and to help my family, and my friends too.”
'Oh ho! How heroic, lost child. But tell me, what about your mother? She was murdered too. Are you going to avenge her as well?' He grinned and it showed his sharp teeth.
I really didn't thought about it. It wasn't like a 'revenge' killing thing, I just wanted to bring justice for my father and anyone else who fell victim. But I haven't... thought about my mother.
I suddenly feel weak as I desperately held on to the safety bar. 'Time's almost up, lost child. We can talk about this once Bastet gives you the blessing to communicate. Think about what we just said.' He turned around and then I feel like another jolt rushed through me. I don't hear him 'talking' anymore... Dang! I took too long to answer that I haven't ask how he knows me and my parents... or Bastet even!
He said that I needed her 'blessing' so that I can communicate without whatever that painfully ran through me... I guess I needed to train my 'sight' a little more... starting with that 'Heat eye' ability it's called. I wondered if I'm supposed to use it before I can get her 'blessing' or whatever. Apart from a slight head ache, I suddenly feel a bit better. I think I might need to sit down a few more minutes before they come back.
I then noticed two people that are walking by. I decided to play it cool and just returned to the bench to make it looked like I was just taking a break.
One was a very tall and buffed man with a beard and a twin ponytail tied behind his back. He had a blue jacket and a black shirt that says 'daddy' with a pair of light bluejeans, and black shoes. Is that Boris Wolfenstein?
I was surprised when he was with a girl that looked like she was in her early teens with long blond hair, black eyes, had a bit of an old fashioned pastel colors of blue, pink and white all over, a knee high white socks with blue heeled buckled shoes.
She looked prett- wait a minute... is that Bendy? What the heck is he doing cross dressing like that?! I looked away just to make sure that I haven't noticed them. Dang it! Out of all days we could have crossed paths, it HAD to be today!
“Is it going so great this week? I've finally have what I wanted after much 'hard' work. Look at my purse!” He imitated a highly pitched girlish voice. I was so distracted about his 'accessories' that he actually wore one... it looked like a pink pastel, heart shaped coin purse. It looked stuffed... is it full of cash? Who did he sell to? Where?
“Don't show it off, sweetie. There might be 'bad' people who might try to steel it.” Boris told him while he put his left hand on his side.
“Oh, I'm not worried about the 'bad' guys, daddy. I'm actually more worried about the 'safety' locks. Who knows what could have happened here. Can we go and get some cake now? I want Ring Dings.” He 'childishly' tone it as they left.
He's got that 'special' machine and he's distributing! He even go all the way to dress like THAT to sell some-
Wait... did he also mentioned about the safety locks? As in, the locks for the animals cages? My eyes were widen in horror.
Sheba and my nephews! They're in danger!
TO BE CONTINUED... Chapter 19.
Read Chapter 17 here.
Read the Beginning here: Chapter 1
So apparently, the brother’s father is dying of lung cancer like the real one. I also added a good reason WHY Felix wanted to put an end for those drugs.
I also wanted to show that he’s also a family guy’s type. He cares for his nephews and he wanted to raise them like his father would have, but Alex is NOT helping... AT ALL! #BoycottAlexthecat
I also added Sheba in this chapter after she was introduced a few months ago and I’m STILL trying to be close to the CANON story as possible.
Also a couple of notes here: I’m almost DONE typing the chapters so I’m going to release both on MONDAY and FRIDAY once I’m finished.
the second is that I’m gonna try to make three NEW characters I’ve mentioned aside Sam Toucan. The first two is already mentioned so far and the third will be in MUCH later chapters. They’ll be drawn soon...
And to close off this week’s chapter: What will happened to Felix’s friend and his nephews when he thinks that the locks are loose?
Read in next week to find out!

[Ch. 1] - Epic Mickey 3: Sealed in Ink
(a collab by waltsluckyrabbit and 09alih [on DeviantART])
“I don’t get it, Ortensia,” Oswald muttered as he leaned against a wall. “I can tell something’s bugging him and I’m tryin’ to help, but every time I bring it up, he acts like I’m threatenin’ to punch him in the nose. And frankly, I’m gettin’ close.”
Ortensia smiled at him as she herded a group of bunny children outside to play. She knew he was just concerned, even if he wouldn’t admit it. “Now, Oswald, I don’t think you’ll have to do that. Why don’t you just ask outright?”
The rabbit looked up in surprise. “Huh?”
Ortensia rolled her eyes. Of course he wouldn’t have thought of that. “Ask him outright what’s bothering him. If I know Mickey, he’ll admit it eventually.”
Oswald looked at her, then smacked his head. “Why didn’t I think of that?”
Ortensia giggled and playfully tugged his ear. “Because you’re too macho, hunny bunny,” she purred.
Oswald blushed a little and chuckled as she gave his cheek a kiss. “Thanks, hon.”
“My pleasure,” Ortensia giggled. “I’ll see you later.”
Oswald couldn’t help smiling as he headed toward Mickey’s house. How had he ever survived without her?
When he got to the door, he knocked a few times. “Hey, Mickey! You there?” He waited, tapping his foot, but no one answered. Letting out an impatient huff, he knocked again. “I haven’t got all day, ya know!” Still no answer. Finally, Oswald opened the door and stepped inside. “Mick?”
Across the room, the phone chimed in greeting. “No one home! Want to leave a message?”
Oswald smiled. “That’s okay. Ya know where he is?”
The phone sighed. “He hasn’t been back since this morning. No one to talk to.”
Oswald frowned in thought. “Huh… okay, thanks.” Seeing the phone’s sulking look, he smiled and patted its head. “If ya want someone to talk to, we can send some of the kids over.”
The phone stiffened in alarm, then put on a casual look. “Oh, thanks, but that’s fine! I think I, uh… I’ve got some calls to make, anyway…”
Oswald smirked and headed back out. “Alright, take it easy.”
After jumping through the projector to Mean Street, Oswald saw Gus talking to Markus near the Penny Arcade. He hopped off the platform and walked over.
“Hey Markus, Gus,” he said. “Is Mickey still around here? I was lookin’ for…” He dropped off when he noticed the gremlins’ concerned looks.
“Not anymore,” Markus said. “He was here, but he left about a half hour ago. Last I saw, he was heading toward the Underground.”
Oswald scratched his head. “That’s weird… he should’ve been in OsTown. Thanks, Markus.”
As him and Gus walked toward the entrance to the Underground, Oswald looked over at the gremlin. “So, what were you talking about? Is somethin’ wrong?”
Gus shook his head, still frowning. “Not exactly, it’s just… has something about Mickey seemed, well, odd lately?”
Oswald stared at him in surprise. “It’s not just me?” he asked. Gus shook his head. “That’s actually what I’m lookin’ for him about,” Oswald said as they entered the tunnel. “So I can—”
He stopped in his tracks; something was lying on the ground in the corridor ahead. Oswald squinted, then his eyes snapped wide open as he realized what, or rather who, it was. “Mickey!” He ran over with Gus close behind and knelt down.
Mickey lay still on his back, eyes closed. He was breathing in slow, heavy breaths like he was hurt, but there was no sign of any injuries. Oswald noticed something in his hand and frowned. Why did he have the brush out?
“What happened?” Gus exclaimed, more to himself than anyone else.
Oswald shook the mouse. "Mickey? Hey, Mickey! Wake up!" Just then, he saw something that made his stomach twist. Small black drops were detaching from the mouse’s body, floating up into the air before disappearing. He looked up at Gus to see the same shock on his face. Shaking it off, Oswald took one of Mickey’s arms and hoisted him upright. “Gus, give me a hand! We gotta get him to the Doc!”
Gus immediately flew over and helped Oswald lift Mickey up. Working together, they carried him out of the Underground and to the new lab the Mad Doctor had set up on Mean Street.
“Doc!” Oswald called out. “We need your help! Somethin’s wrong with Mickey!”
The Mad Doctor looked up from the sparking wires he was about to cross. “Something wrong, you say?”
“Yeah, we found him like this in the Underground and he’s not waking up!” Oswald said.
The Doctor abandoned his project and hurried over for a closer look. He frowned when he noticed the drops and caught one, rubbing it between his gloved fingers. “Hmm… I see…” He nodded. “Put him on the table, quickly.”
Oswald and Gus set Mickey down on the lab table and waited as the Mad Doctor began doing routine checkups, listening to his heartbeat and breathing, then pulling back an eyelid to check his eyes. After that, he turned and punched a button on a nearby control panel. A device on the ceiling whirred to life and a large machine with an eye on the bottom lowered from it. The Mad Doctor grabbed the handles on its sides and pulled so it was positioned over Mickey.
Oswald frowned. “Uh, Doc?”
The Mad Doctor gave no sign of hearing as he looked through the viewport on the machine, muttering to himself as the eye clicked and whirred. Gus glanced at Oswald, who shrugged. Finally, the Doctor pressed the button again and the device whirred back up to the ceiling. His face was unreadable as he lifted Mickey off the table and placed him on one of the small cots against the wall.
“So, what’s goin’ on?” Oswald asked, tapping his foot with impatience.
“It’s very strange, my friends… very strange indeed.”
Oswald resisted the urge to roll his eyes; the Doc had finally stopped singing everything, but he still had a flair for drama.
“As you may have suspected, the Blot inside him has reawakened.”
Oswald stared in disbelief. “But… how? And why’s he so out of it?”
Gus frowned with worry and nodded at the rabbit’s words. “I saw the effects after he absorbed it. They never got this extreme.”
The Mad Doctor frowned and tugged at a glove. “How it happened, I may be able to explain. Dark feelings like anger and sadness were very strong influences on the Blot. In large enough quantities, they certainly would have been enough to reawaken a smaller part. Why it happened… that, my friends, is unclear.”
Oswald looked at Mickey, a realization coming to him as he considered their recent conversations. “I think I know,” he said quietly. “Missing people you love… well, that’s about the darkest feeling there is.”
Gus glanced at Oswald in surprise, then let out a heavy sigh as he rubbed his neck. “I should’ve known. Ever since I told him about the device… but how did he get like this? It isn’t even the whole Blot, and…”
“Ah, and that, my friends, brings us to the real mystery,” the Mad Doctor said. “The reawakening wasn’t what caused his current condition.”
Gus and Oswald glanced at each other in confusion before the Doctor continued.
“A portion of the Blot inside him seems to have been…” He paused, then narrowed his eyes. “Forcibly removed.”
Oswald felt his jaw go slack as he stared at the Mad Doctor. “Ya mean... somethin’ sucked it out of him?”
The Mad Doctor drooped and sighed; it sounded nowhere near as dramatic put that way. “…In layman’s terms.”
Oswald looked at Mickey again, his ears twitching with unease. “So, is he gonna be all right?”
The Mad Doctor nodded, adjusting his gloves. “Fortunately, it hasn’t caused serious damage. He simply needs time to recover.”
Oswald let out a sigh of relief, but Gus still looked worried. “Will he wake up soon?”
The Mad Doctor nodded. “It shouldn’t be much longer.”
As if to prove his point, a faint groan came from the cot. The small group turned to see Mickey slowly lift a hand to his head. “Unh… wh-… what…”
Relieved, Oswald and Gus hurried over to his side. Mickey blinked, looking groggy and confused. “Wh-… Oswald? Gus?” He looked around with dazed eyes. “Where am I?”
“The Mad Doc’s lab,” Oswald replied.
“We found you collapsed in the Underground,” Gus added. “You had us worried for a while.”
“Oh… sorry…” Mickey murmured.
Gus smiled and patted his shoulder. “Don’t worry about it now. Are you all right?”
Mickey winced and grunted as he sat up and touched his chest. “Y-Yeah, I guess. But I…” Just then, a few small drops of ink rose from his arm. He froze, staring at it.
“That ol’ Blot inside ya’s actin’ up,” Oswald said.
Mickey’s face went blank with shock. Apparently, he’d assumed it was gone, too. “What?”
Oswald glanced at Gus, who looked just as uneasy. Before either could figure out the best way to explain, the Mad Doctor stepped up and cleared his throat.
“I’m afraid it was only dormant, still feeding on your negative emotions. It seems they were strong enough to reawaken it…”
Noticing the guilt filling Mickey’s face, Gus and Oswald glared at the Mad Doctor, who realized his lack of tact and stuttered. “Er… o-of course, it was bound to happen sooner or later. And I very much doubt it could have been avoided.”
Oswald nodded. “Mick… ya do know ya can talk to us, right?”
Mickey looked at him in surprise, then at Gus, who nodded. Shame quickly replaced it as he looked away. After a moment, he let out a heavy sigh and spoke. “I didn’t mean for this to happen again. I tried not to, but… I just miss everyone so much. And… Minnie…” Tears filled his eyes and he closed them. His voice began breaking as he continued. “I… I might never see her again. I can’t even tell her I’m okay, know if she’s okay…” He trailed off, letting out a soft whimper as he buried his face in his hands. He looked so heartbroken that even the Mad Doctor had to blow his nose.
“Mick, why didn’t ya just say so?” Oswald said as he put a hand on Mickey’s shoulder. “I’ll make sure you find a way home, promise.”
Mickey slowly looked up, then smiled a little. “Thanks, Os.” He glanced back down at his feet. “I guess I was afraid that… I was being selfish.”
Oswald shook his head. “Nah, Mick. There’s way more selfish things than that.” Oswald’s voice then lowered to a near-inaudible volume, as if voicing an unconscious thought. “Hah… I would know.”
Mickey seemed like he was about to say something when Gus suddenly hovered up to him, looking concerned.
“I’m afraid there’s something else,” the gremlin said. “The Mad Doctor says that some of the Blot in you was… well, pulled out.”
The Doctor nodded, stroking his beard. “Indeed, indeed… and judging from the circumstances, it was not by something or someone very friendly.”
Mickey’s eyes grew wide as he listened, raising a hand to his chest again. “Pulled out…” he muttered, a distant frown on his face.
Oswald glanced over at the Mad Doctor. “Wait, but shouldn’t gettin’ that inky mess outta him be a good thing?”
The Mad Doctor pulled down a small screen and turned it on. A white outline of the mouse’s body appeared on the blue backdrop, with a black blob floating near it. “If done the correct way, yes.”
Gus crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow. “Correct way?” he repeated.
The Mad Doctor gestured to the screen; the black shape moved into the body and began breaking up as it swirled around. “You see, over time, the Blot began to merge with his own ink. Removing it safely would be a very careful process requiring time and patience. This, however…”
A portion of the black suddenly tore out of the body outline. Even in this crude form, it made the viewers wince.
The Mad Doctor shook his head. “This was the exact opposite. Fortunately, the shock wasn’t too severe… his body was able to recover in time to heal itself.”
Oswald snuck a side glance at Mickey, ears twitching with slight concern.
“In the meantime,” Gus said. “Perhaps, we should try to find out what did this. It could be very dangerous.”
The Mad Doctor nodded and turned to Mickey. “Do you remember anything?”
The mouse closed his eyes. “It happened real fast,” he said slowly, frowning. “But I remember seein’ some kind of a… a dome with a flat bottom. And there was a whirrin’ noise… it kept goin’. It sounded kinda like a Beetleworx.” His body tensed as he continued. “It knocked me down before I could do anything. Then somethin’ metal latched on my chest and started… pullin’. It felt like it was… rippin’ something out of me. That’s when I must a’ passed out. Next thing I know, I’m wakin’ up here.”
The Mad Doctor scowled as he rubbed his chin. “Strange… strange indeed,” he muttered. “It certainly must’ve been a machine. You don’t suppose it could be some kind of rogue Beetleworx? It’s unlikely, but certainly not impossible…” He glanced at the monitors nearby. “I’ll have to run some calculations to find if any disappeared from the grid recently.”
Oswald glared at the Mad Doctor with obvious impatience. “Well, what’re ya waitin’ for? Get to it! If it’s one of your machines, I want it shut down right away!”
The Mad Doctor jumped and started typing rapidly on the keyboard. Mickey placed a hand on Oswald’s shoulder, looking concerned. “Oswald, calm down. Whatever it was, we’ll find it.”
Oswald sighed. “I sure hope so. I don’t want this happenin’ again—to you or anyone else.” He then waggled a finger at the mouse. “So, don’t go off on your own again until we get this sorted out, got it? No more of that wanderin’ dark alleys nonsense. There’s a reason that never goes well in the movies.”
Mickey grinned sheepishly as he rubbed his neck. “Got it.” He touched his chest and sighed. “Believe me, I don’t plan on runnin’ into that thing again soon.”
Gus smiled and nodded before hovering upward. “I should probably tell the other gremlins on Mean Street, so they can keep an eye out for it.”
“Keep me updated,” Oswald said.
Gus nodded and teleported out of the lab.
“Hmm…” the Mad Doctor muttered, looking at the monitor. “This is troubling.”
He turned, frowning as he rubbed his chin.
“What’s wrong, Doc?” Mickey asked. The Mad Doctor started and looked up, as if he’d forgotten the two were there. He then cleared his throat.
“It seems that all the Beetleworx are accounted for, and none have displayed any serious defects in their programming.”
“Are ya sure?” Oswald asked. “Maybe you should double-check…”
The Mad Doctor pouted, looking a little offended. “Quite sure, but I can certainly run another check.”
“Sorry, Doc, I just wanna make sure we find it before… anythin’ else happens.”
The Mad Doctor’s frown softened and he nodded. “I’ll also perform some scans on different areas of Wasteland for unusual activity… the Blot portion may be detectable. The results will be ready by tomorrow.”
“Okay, thanks, Doc.” Oswald turned back to Mickey, a worrying thought crossing his mind. “Ya know, maybe it’d be best if you stayed with Ortensia and me for now, in case they or it tries to… well, we have a guest room ya could use.”
Mickey frowned, shifting in his seat. “Well… I don’t wanna impose, but if ya really think it’s a good idea…”
“It’s no problem,” Oswald said, then smirked. “Besides, the kids’ll be tickled.”
Mickey cringed a little. “Was that supposed to be encouraging?”
Oswald couldn’t help chuckling at that. Mickey grinned back and hopped off the cot, stumbling a bit on the landing.
Oswald steadied the mouse. “Easy… you sure you’re up to this?”
The mouse rubbed his head and nodded, still wobbling a bit. “Yeah, just kinda dizzy.”
Once he was sure Mickey was steady, Oswald let him go and they walked together toward the exit.
Ortensia looked up in surprise as Oswald walked in with Mickey following. “Oh… hello, boys,” she said, then noticed their looks. “Is everything okay?”
“Well… Oswald said. “It’s kind of a long story, but is it okay if Mickey stays here for a while?”
Ortensia cocked her head, looking concerned. “Well, yes, of course. But… is something wrong?”
Mickey and Oswald glanced at each other, but just then, the Bunny Children hopped in excitedly.
“Daddy! Unca Mickey!”
Oswald cleared his throat and smiled. “Hey, kids, guess what? Your Uncle Mickey’s gonna be stayin’ with us for a while!”
The bunnies squealed and began leaping up and down with excitement. “Yay! Unca Mickey’s sleepin’ over!”
Mickey smiled, but he was buried in a heap of cheering blue bunnies before he could say anything.
“I’ll explain everything later,” Oswald said quietly to Ortensia before wading through the swarm of bunnies. “All right, kids, you can play with your uncle later,” he said as he grabbed hold of Mickey’s arm, pulling him out of the crowd.
He then led him upstairs to the guest room, which was full of antiques and old family photos. “Well, I know it’s not much, but make yourself at home.”
Mickey smiled gratefully as he looked around. “No, it’s great. Thanks a lot, Os.” Suddenly, a sharp ache throbbed in his chest and he couldn’t help wincing.
“Mick?” Oswald asked, placing a hand on his shoulder. “You okay?”
“Yeah, sorry…” Mickey said, rubbing his chest. “It’s still kinda sore.”
“Well, ya better get some rest,” he said, grabbing Mickey’s shoulders from behind and leading him over to the bed. “Just take it easy.”
Mickey slowly sat down; suddenly his body was aching like all the pressures of the past few days had caught up with him. “Thanks, Oswald,” he said.
The rabbit smiled reassuringly. “No problem,” he said. “Hope ya feel better.”
He turned to leave, but Mickey suddenly spoke up again. “Hey, Os…” Oswald stopped and looked back to see Mickey giving him a slight smile. “For what it’s worth, I don’t think you were selfish either.”
Oswald stood there for a moment, startled. Slowly, he smiled. “Thanks, Mick.”

Golden eyes Chapter 20
“Can you trust me?” He extended his hand for a shake.
I thought for a moment for what possibilities this can turn out.
Pro: He said that he's an acrobat and has speed for his advantage, which is good in case of a foot chase.
Con: They 'might' have some guns...
Pro: He IS gonna be with someone, right?
Con: He's still a kid... Teenager, but still.
Pro: I know this 'might' seems this is the best shot to confirm that the abandoned pizzeria IS their new hideout... yet...
Con: I REALLY DON'T LIKE THIS IDEA, NOT ONE BIT!
Then Oswald did something that caught me surprise. He only 'tapped' at the back of my spine and somehow, I freaked out and blurred out something inaudible from his icy touch.
Abu then jumped to Aladin's shoulder as he take it as a handshake. “Thank you so much, Mr. Felix. I promised to be very careful.” He mistook it as an 'agreement' and then quickly left. I was going to shout no but then Oswald covered my mouth and held me close. After a few seconds of silence, he decided it would be funny to blow at my ear and that made me jumped with my face redder. JUST what I needed to put more stress on my nerves! He laughed and smirked. “I didn't know you were full of energy when I went to get you this morning.”
That's the last straw! I had it with his taunts towards me and this time, I'm NOT gonna let him get away with THAT attitude. I raised my voice. “That's IT! Oswald Walt Disney! WHAT is wrong with you and WHAT did I ever do to you, personally?! Ever since we first met, you keep driving me nuts with those crazy 'tactics' towards me.”
“Don't ask me, you're the one who reacted that way when I 'gently' joking with ya.” He made the 'I don't know pose' and was still smirking. 'GENTLY' joking with me... I snapped and launched at him. I don't care how many black belts he has under his waist, I just wanna punch him right now. We rolled once and I was pinned down. “Best two out of three?” He confidently asked me with his usual smirk. I growled and then I tried again. This time I did my best, lasted longer with the struggle, I think 'we've' knocked over something and I was pinned down again. “I win again.” This time with his face closer to mine, just to add more salt in my 'injuries.'
“Guys! Please! Take it outside! You've done more than enough damage than the last guy. You've spilled some hard to get, special herbs for-”
“NGH!” I suddenly feel drowsy and my head started to throb. Oswald then looked back at me and was surprised... I then fainted.
---
I woke up from the scent of sea salt and I was laying down on a couch. I blinked a few times to realized I was back in the Gentleman’s club room. I still feel quite drowsy until I saw someone, who's face was a bit close to mine, wore a gas mask that nearly scared all of my remaining lives out of my body plus the Egyptian goddess herself. Maybe.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!” I jumped high and grabbed one of the chandeliers out of panic reaction.
“Oh gosh! Felix! It's me, Mickey!” He waved a bit just to say it.
“Mickey?... What are you doing with that mask?” It took me a second to calm down my nerves. “And I thought you said you can't come in here!”
“Correction, he said he DOESN'T want to be here. Hēi māo.” I heard Oswald voice and looked at him from the arch way. “Are you trying to replicate the meaning from that 'Chandelier' song? I doubt you can do it better than the drunken stripper herself from those Broadway shows.” He chuckles quietly.
“Ha...ha...ha. I forgot how to laugh for a second there.” I sarcastically responded to Mr. Carrot top. I quickly let go and landed om my feet. Lucky for me it wasn't that high.
“Did that cat woke up? I heard something shout on a siren level.” Mushu came in the room with some coffee tray for four people.
“Yes I am. You can thank your 'bosses.' Mr. Sunshine and Poker face!” I pointed Mickey and Oswald's new nicknames in that order.
“I'm surprised Souris came in here. When he found out you've fainted by one of my special herbs, he rushed to help ya. He really can't stand smokes anymore.” Mushu explained.
He did? “You see, I really want to quit smoking. I'm not a heavy smoker like my father, I only did it once in a while to relieved stress until I found out he was dying from lung cancer. I wanted to quit that habit since I'm still healthy at my age. But it's been hard sometimes and the scent doesn't help my cravings either.” Mickey explained his situation and scratched the back of his head. So THAT'S why he doesn't want to be here... I then feel a bit guilty for mistook his reasons as just an excuse to 'use' me.
“Sorry I freaked out a while ago...” He shook his head. “It's alright. That happened to me too when I couldn't get up early in the morning. Oswald used one of the Chinese lion heads and paint it like it was like it was from a cheap, horror movie.” I looked at his brother and gave 'what the heck' look. “At least he learned to get up early. We had a lot of things to do at the time.” I sighed and turned to our accused friend. “I'm sorry for what happened earlier with me and him, Mushu. I lost my temper with that wise guy for OBVIOUS reasons.”
“Nah! I'm just glad that it only spilled on the table. Those herbs cost almost two hundreds per pack from South East Asia and they are hard to get a hand on lately.” I choked and turned pale. ALMOST two hundred dollars?! Are they dipped in gold or something?
“I wouldn't worry if it did drop on the floor, Hēi māo. I can cover it for ya if you do some services under me in exchange.”
My mind was mentally busted when he said that... Services... under... him... NONONO! WAIT! He meant jobs! Odd jobs! That's right! Now stop thinking about it and blushing so hard! ...and get that mind out of the gutter too.
“I-I-I'm just glad we didn't break anything else! So uh... What should we do now and what do you want me to do, Mushu?” I'm pretty sure they didn't drag me here just for his testimony and an unexpected reunion from my past.
“We need you to keep an eye on him for an hour. I can't stay here as I explained already and Oswald is needed somewhere else too. Can you do it?” Mickey asked.
“I... I can. But who am I supposed to stop and who should I let them see him? I only know a few of your members... And I can't-”
“Don't worry if your colleagues shows up.” Oswald handed some sort of a permit to me. “You can just show this and they won't bother either of you. Bagheera and Baloo will be here at three to pick him up and 'escort' him to another hidden establishment. Once they do, you need to go with them just in case if things get a bit crazy.”
You mean if they are being followed and I'm supposed to hold them off? With what? A whip and one pistol? If it's one it's no big deal, but a group... plausible, but that would be a bit troublesome.
“It will be by car, so don't worry too much. We also told them to get some disguises before they come here. That way both your identities will be sealed.” Mickey gladly said as he finished off his coffee and quickly puts his mask on. “Don't fall asleep this time, Hēi māo. Or else I'll use your face as my target range!” He 'calmly' replied and finishes his off, then chuckled. “I'm kidding. I don't use guns.” Wow... really assuring from you.
“I know we can trust you for this. We'll met back at the same club from that night you helped us.” Mickey tried to lift my mood up. “The club? You mean... the one where it was supposed to be a secret?” Is it the one where there was his brother's apartment and it was above it? “Uh huh!” He nodded.
“Just don't mess up on this part, Liǎojiě?” Oswald told me as he placed his empty cup on the tray next to his brother's. They both started to leave. “We'll meet you up later! Stay safe!” Mickey waved good bye as they exited.
“If they have enough trust to leave you with this, you must have something that caught their attention.” Mushu complimented me as he took his sip.
“I kinda have a different idea, but to be honest, I'm still learning myself.” I'm not lying. If it wasn't for my mom, that woman who gave me up for protecting me and saved those two, we wouldn't be here today or things would have been different... Plus they did promised to my mother before she died to look for me... and before this, I always thought she abandoned me and my father... Now, I feel a bit lost with myself.
I always thought that I was just normal, apart from my 'sight', and I used to think my father and my nephews were the only family I have... and now, this raises even more questions.
Mushu then got me back in reality. “Well, whatever you think, I personally believed it has something with your charismatic personality like Souris or some skill sets like Lapin. Then again, it can be a wild card.” Oh really?
I then realized he called them by those names. I still haven't got some of my 'important' answers and I doubt I can get it out of them anytime soon. Maybe this will be a good opportunity to get to know more about them on someone else's view.
“Say, Mushu. How long did the Blue-” He hushed me. “Let's save it in a moment, I heard one of the employees coming in. Let's go back to the hideout. Quick.” He took the tray back to the kitchen and then we both hid to the make shift smoking den. He locked the door from the entrance. “Don't worry if something happens like a fire emergency, I have a hidden emergency exit on the other side.” He assured me for safety.
“Thanks, um... Now can you tell me about the Blue Dragons? I barely know this group aside that it wasn't a 'mafia' like.” I already know the Red Dragons, but I still missing on some pieces of the Blue Dragons. Are they the same or are they different? Do they really kept their word when they say they are the good guys on a different team?
“They never told that part?” I shook my head and answered. “I only heard a brief about the Red Dragons and how they were finished. How DID the Blue Dragons started from there? I want to know who they really are.”
“Wha? You don't trust us much?” He raised an eyebrow as to say 'Should I really trust you?'
I think I might have signaled the wrong idea. “I only know from your 'bosses' that you're working for the good people in this community where they've grew up in their teens and well... I only knew how the Red Dragons ended but I haven't got a clue on how the Blue Dragons took over, especially when they said it was chaos without any order or help before they were created, I assumed.” If they were expelled from their gang before their mentors' demise and they wanted to keep protecting their home, how did they manage to do it?
“Well... You don't seem like the type to spread rumors.” He thought about it. “But, since they trust you enough, I can tell you what I know. Just to be fair, I only joined two months after their creation.” He then agrees. Perfect!
“It all started after one week since the bodies of the Red Dragons were hung on the Chinese Square and where the dragon statue used to be before they've moved it. Lapin started to recruit on whoever was left and trust worthy at the time to rebuild this district. Which let me tell you, it ain't easy. ESPECIALLY when it makes more than half the city's property values right now.” More than half the city's land is the Chinatown district? That must have been hard AND why Bendy is after them for 'territorial ownership.'
“I was barely started out in the higher ups when I first moved here, but then things got a bit 'heated' with the other shopkeepers. I did everything I can do to keep them happy but they always seems like they always have another complaint or 'favors' regarding my place. Until Lapin came along and asked if I'm interested to move to the Chinatown district and become one of the Blue Dragons for my information on the customers I've been receiving.”
“Like the Alfonso mafia's gang members and the authorities who are under them?” I wanted to make sure I get this part right.
“That and maybe some juicy info in case if there's some other rumors started to spread around. But apart from me and him, there was Souris, the second in command, Bagheera, Baloo and Lumière. We pulled a LOT of work to rebuild the district. But in the end, it was worth it. We even got more members along the way.”
“May I ask how did they manage to gain the rights to own such a large district? I doubt the mayor would have handed over to them just like that.” He maybe a bit air headed, but I doubt he'll give the authorities to two ex-vigilante with a famous last name like Disney. Oh! and I almost forgot... they were barely reaching twenty at the time!
“Actually, they won it over due to some land permit. If I remembered correctly, Kay Chow did manage to secure the district's property before the whole fiasco thing with the mafia label. I don't have any clue on how they DID manage to get their hands on it, but all I know is that Bendy can't make a move on our turf and neither does the authorities without their permissions. They've been very careful with each other and treated equally, apart from the Alfonso Mafia.”
I guess I need to find my guesses else where. “Can you tell me why where they called by their nicknames, Lapin and Souris?”
“Ah, that! Those are served as their code names in the underworld society. It's like a pen name like the Undertaker.”
“Bendy Drew?” He gasped when I said his real family name. “I hope you've prepared a will before saying that! Nobody who knew him THAT well is left unscratched, let alone being alive. He hates it.”
“I know... He preferred to be called De Mon. Fitting for his characteristics and his position.” I really don't care if he doesn't like it, he doesn't get any respect from me after what he has done to anyone who fell victim. Including to my family.
“Seems like you and us have a common enemy. As an old saying goes: The enemy of my enemy is my ally. You can gain more than cash if you join us.” He offered me to join them.
“I appreciate your generosity, but I want to keep investigating in my department. There's someone I need to find.” Besides, isn't this kind of decision is up to those two?
“Wellllllll.... If something happens, my offer is still up on the table. I can always need a second pair of hands in my business.” He cheerfully agrees and respected my decision.
“Thank you. So what can you tell me about Lapin? How does he do for a living here?” He did said about being a brilliant mechanic for one of this talents, but he never mentioned on what type of work he does.
“From what I can tell, he's the mechanic in public view, but he keeps his authority image a secret during the meetings and such when he's needed. Ya see, He wants to keep his 'real' identity as secret as he can due to his last family name. But that's hardly an issue since his father and his younger brother is OBVIOUSLY overshadowing him with their charisma, his presence is like a ghost to anyone who doesn't know him well.”
He was being over looked again? How? He's obviously in those pictures back at the first meeting we did at the tea shop. He's obviously well praised by his little brother, and he's got talents that can compete with him too! Why do they keep overlooking him like that?
“But I'm not saying that his family did so on purpose! I know Souris always has his back since they were little and even on interviews he always has nice things to say about him... But it only does a little help.” I sighed. I think he should at least given a chance to be in the spotlight a bit.
“Lapin thinks after a while that this can give him a pretty good advantage. He can get away with pretty much anything without anyone noticing him, unlike his brother Souris, who he can attract attention with his charisma and his talent show skills.” Mushu explained their complimented skill sets.
That's true. Mickey did told me that he was good at getting people's attention and Oswald can easily do whatever they needed to do when they had to survive on the streets before the Red Dragons. I don't need proof that I can't detect Oswald's presence for a sneak attack... He already did that a few times just to get on my nerves.
“So in reality, he's really in charge of the district. That's a big responsibility.” I guess that might explain why he doesn't smile much... I think I can relate to that.
“Now, I'm not saying we're perfect just because we have different combats skills among our numbers here. There was one time about a year ago that we almost lost our territory to that Demon.”
I was surprised. “Did Bendy went on a surprise attack tactic?”
“Close actually... it was a bargain and ransom.” He looked down as if he somewhat feel guilty. “It nearly tore us apart when Lapin and Souris almost got themselves killed. We were powerless to do anything...” I heard about this before... I remembered back at that abandoned pizzeria when Bendy mentioned he held Oswald captive... yet I don't remembered any mentioning of Mickey's involvements nor this bargain...
“May I ask what happened that time?” He looked at me with a surprised expression and then panicked while waving. “They never told you about that?! Oh man! Never mind! Forget I said that part! That wasn't supposed to be shared unless they gave their permission! Please don't tell to anyone about this!”
“Huh? Wh-What's wrong? Why does it have to be a secret?” It's like the same thing with Lumière back at that secret club.
He covered his mouth with both his hands, his face then turned a bit pale and he looked with at me with wide eyes. I'm guessing this is something I need to ask 'them' directly.
“I'm sorry for asking.” I tried to calm him down before the others arrived. He took a deep breath and said. “I know you're curious like a cat you are, but... the only thing I CAN tell you about it is ever since 'that' night... It became personal to them. BUT in a 'proper' way! Please don't say anything to them!” He begged me not to react about it with his hands clapped together. My eyes were widen at his answer that I wasn't expected for. It became personal...? Wha... what happened that night? I can understand if it was from that 'last' job with the Alfonso's team up or how they got expelled... But what triggered them to do so now?
We were then startled when we heard some loud knocking on the door. I then heard a familiar voice saying in Chinese and then Mushu whispered. “Can you go check if they 'are' who they are? I've been had once with the voice imitation.”
I took out my pistol and responded. Hide yourself in case things goes out of hand.” He nodded and he disappeared behind the curtains again. I quietly but quickly pressed my back to the wall next to the door and I decided to use my 'sight' to see if they are telling the truth. To my surprise, it only took less than a second to 'show' there were two well 'seen' characters I already knew. It was Bagheera and Baloo. “Bagheera? Is that you?” I asked.
“Yes, It's me with Baloo and some clothes for disguises. We need to move quickly because some of your 'colleagues' have started to search this block.” I blinked and my sight returned to normal. “Sorry, I needed to make sure.” I opened the door and they rushed in. “Mushu! We're here! We got the disguises.” Baloo shouted a bit and then Bagheera whispered harshly. “Baloo! Shush! We're not supposed to set off an alarm!”
Mushu then jumped out with excitement. “The faster we change, the faster we can get out of here and to that club meeting. You need to change too, Felix.”
“Huh? Why should I change too?” I asked. “Weren't you paying attention earlier? You need to keep YOUR I.D. A secret too. I'm 'wanted,' remember?” He handed a pile of clothes to me. “If they see you just the way you are with me and others, they'll think you're double crossing 'them' and you'll raise suspicion afterwards.” Ah, right! If I protected him like how I 'look' now, the superiors will have my tail for this.
We quickly changed in our disguises as the other two keep an eye out for intruders. Mushu had a black leather hipster jacket from one of those biker bad boys types, a pair of navy blue jeans, brown shoes, a brown fedora with a black ribbon, and some shades to concealed his eyes.
Mine was... too similar to the one that Oswald and Bendy wore to 'concealed' their identity... it was that 'police' uniform and I was told to put my hair in a ponytail and hid it underneath my police cap. The mask was quite comfortable to wear thought.
“You know, That looks good on ya. You have no idea on how many people got fooled in this tactic.” I looked at him confused.
“You and the others, including myself, is about the same height and with that mask, nobody can really tell who is who. With our different fighting techniques, we can throw off some of the thugs that causes trouble on our side.”
He has a point. I've heard about that technique when there's some people who wore similarities to make it look like it's just one person, but in reality, it was a doppelganger or someone posing as that person. A stunt double, to keep it short.
He placed our clothing back in the suitcase, I've kept my belt just in case. “Alright, let's bust this joint!” Mushu told them as we exited.
Once we headed to the taxi car, Baloo had a bit of a hard time fitting in but he manages to do it quickly. We're lucky that we're both small enough to have some room. “You both alright? I'm not used to being in a car. I preferred walking. Helps with my health.”
“Not when you're eating like an elephant every meal.” Bagheera commented as he starts up the car. “Well you hardly have a bite in your meals without talking so much.” He combated back at his words.
“Guys, let's not start another fight. We don't have such time for now with the drug bust operation. Save it for later.” Mushu calms them down as he ducked a bit to avoid any eye contacts from anyone who might be spying on us.
“Who are we supposed to look out for? The usual?” I tried to think of a different topic as well as to what am I supposed to do now. The mafia is one thing but the police... I pray that we don't run into anyone I knew and loved...
“If you see somethings suspicious, let me know. We can gain speed on the highway and back.” Bagheera told me as we entered.
I simply nodded and glanced outside of my window for anything unusual. I don't see any police cars so far. I noticed from the construction sings that there will be a detour back from the city. I guess they wanted to avoid suspicions from the police. However, there's some black cars that looks like it's been following us and they were in a row formation. I think they're might be following us.
“Bagheera, I think we got company. There's more behind that one.” I warned him. He then handed a familiar gun I haven't seen for a few days... it was a Uzi gun Mickey used in the circus with those magicians. Judging from what it was described on the box case, it held twenty-five .45 ACP bullets. So there's twenty-five shots I can-
I then noticed Baloo taking out a box under our seats with more cases of the same brand. “I'm guessing you both have thought ahead just in case.” I said to them.
“Just wait until we made a detour before you fire that thing. We can let them walk from the highway.” Bagheera said to me for a tactic plan. That's a pretty good idea of not killing anyone, at least when we have more options up to this point.
“Get ready, I'm gonna put this at full speed once I turn this thing around. Get ready...” We all have our hands on our seat belts. Normally under safety laws, we need them for protections in case there was an accident. But then again, when you're up against some people with guns and part of a mafia that would turn the streets into a bloody drag race, you need to break the law to protect them under extreme circumstances... Sam would have a good field day to see me now.
“Now!” He jammed the brakes as he curves an inch before the construction sings. We all held on as he turned the taxi car around in a quite sudden movement. I then quickly checked the cars that were following us to see what we're up against. One.. Two... Three...? and an ice cream truck?! What the-!!! That logo... it has that a Bendy logo! I forgot that he has promoted some ice cream transportation for his tasty treat business. Why would he send that after us?!
“Alright, Black Cat. They're all yours! That thing you're holding can fire three per shot, be careful.” Mushu quickly ducked to the floor to prevent himself getting shot. Baloo can only bend a little due to his size... I guess I need to do this on my own under these circumstances.
I rolled down both windows quickly and just when I tried to pop out, they started to fire at me and the trunk. Now how am I supposed to fire back without getting hit? “Dang! They're packing heat with those guns!” Mushu said as he was crouching down.
Wait... Heat... The Heat Eye ability! I forgot about that! I closed my eyes and... How am I supposed to do it again? I spoke too soon when I was struck with pain and my vision turned a bit of a shade of red. When I opened my eyes, I noticed that I was almost like time has frozen, but I sort of feel like it was passing slowly. My head started to throb. I guess I needed to do this quickly. As soon as I popped out of the window, I took aim at the first car I see at their front tires and I only gently triggered when it fired a bit too quickly to what I'm used to. Good thing I held it with both hands. I then did the same with the car on the left. I took their front tired out and they curved a few times before they stopped at the side of the highway.
But as soon as I looked at the third car, he hit the back of ours! I then had another sharp pain coming through my head and time is now passing normally. We violently swerved and I was thrown back in the passenger seat. I did my best so that I pointed the gun away from them and not to trigger the switch. I got lucky again, but my head feel like I got pounded multiple times with a metal pipe. I grunted and I held my head with my spare hand.
“Hey cat, are you alright?” Baloo worriedly asked for my wellness. “Y-yeah... Just a little light headed for a moment there.” “Terribly sorry about that. That car behind us almost made me lose my steering.” Bagheera let's me know his reasons. But I don't blame him. “Just give me a few second-” BAM! That car hit us again. “Never mind!” I need to stop that thing before it will crash us. At least there's only one left with plausibly one gunner to look out for. I pulled down the window and I seized the moment to take aim at the tires, I missed when they swerved away from my spot. “Dog gone it!” I entered back and went to my other window, he does it again! “I think they're avoiding my fire range!” BAM! That reckless yet cleaver driver keeps ramming us.
I got frustrated. “How am I supposed to get him if he keeps avoiding me? He's gonna make us crash if I don't do something.” “Wait! I remembered when we had the same problem before, excuse me.” Baloo suggested and slightly lifted my seat to reveal a metal plate. I was curious on what he's gonna do until he use it to cover the top of the front seats. “Get ready, I'm gonna bust the back window so you can take out the tires. We're you counting when you shoot?” BAM! “Ngh! I still have some left! Hurry!” He took a second to concentrate and smashed the back window with full strength. I took the opportunity to bolt, quickly aimed at the front their tires, and fired the rest of my ammunition. Bull's eye! The last car swerved and stopped in the middle of the road.
But I wasn't relieved yet, for then came the ice cream truck with his jingles coming on. What the heck? I don't want to sound crazy, but I decided to take another ammo pack, just in case. I keep a close watch on that truck as it catches up next to us. I noticed the logo on that truck had that two cartoon character from the Joey Drew studio the third... Bendy and Boris... I don't think they wanted to serve some ice cream on this high speed chase. The side door opened to reveal an ice cream employee with his hands behind his back and smiled. “Ciao! Would you like some Bendy special treats?” He then took out a machine gun and pointed straight at us. “It is served very well in bloodied cold!” He then grinned wide like a psycho nut!
Normally, I would preferred not to shoot and kill. However, I was fortunate enough that I can shoot at his shoulders, to prevent him from triggering. I quickly shot at his right arm due to the fact he was right handed judging from the way he held it. He grunted when one of the bullet struck his right shoulder and dropped his weapon. Bagheera floored it once he hit the city limit.
After we did a few turns and detours to avoid tailing from whoever was tagging us and stopped at a parking lot behind a tall building of a er... how shall I put this delicately... a 'pleasurable' shop for night jobs, just to say politely...
“I hope Lapin doesn't get too mad when we had to bust the back window.” Bagheera sighed as he looked at the damage of our taxi. “I'm pretty sure he'll understand the situation we were in. Now let's get moving! We need to go to 'that' place before those guys shows up for round two.” Mushu reminded us about this situation and I wouldn't blame him. I just took out three mafia cars and one machine gunner and we escaped their chase with only a half broken down taxi.
“Where should we go? I don't remember where.” I asked one of them. “I know the way, but we need to do it quickly and not to draw any-” “OW!” Mushu yelped and bended down on one knee. “Fireflies! I think my foot got numb from stretching to much!” Baloo then picks him up with one arm. “Don't you worry, ya little red lizard. I got ya.”
“If we're done here, let's move it. They'll bound to show up if we don't.” Bagheera sounded serious. “Yes, let's go.” I nodded and we headed straight to the alley ways.
We did a lot of turns and hiding when we follow Bagheera. I knew why he did that just in case we're being followed, but just to be sure we aren't, I checked behind often us just in case if we missed someone. We did so for a little while until I bumped into Baloo when he stopped. “SHH!” Bagheera hushed us as he stick himself to the wall corner and looks out. We did so the same, but with me behind a huge Indie guy who's holding a little guy, I can only do so much except to keep an eye behind us.
“Alright, move quietly. We're almost there.” He signaled. We walked carefully toward the familiar alley to where they've taken me when I first introduced to.
O.K. We're almost done, Felix. Keep your guard up until we're all safe and sound.
...AH! We were then halted when there was one of the guys at the police station spotted us in a split second. Soon there was two others that joined him who wore black suits. Upon further inspection from our 'friend,' it was that same creepy guy who tried to get me this morning. On my experiences with these guys who joined recently, he's working with Bendy as an informant or doing one of their dirty works... I bet my lunch break he's probably responsible for 'retrieving' the drug evidence from the station.
“Well, well, well. Looks like luck WAS on our side after all. Not only we found our 'culprit,' but the infamous yet mysterious police officer Ping himself. No wonder the guys were having a hard time catching up with them.” The creepy guy talked as he took out a switch blade and played a but with it. “I hope the boss wouldn't mind if we took a picture of you without your mask. He's been dying to figure out your image.”
Ping? Is that another code name? I do recall what Mushu told me about having similar disguises to throw off some enemies. But now is not the time for those questions. I took out that paper Oswald gave to me and I did my best to tone my voice in a Chinese accent to cover my identity. “Our friend is not culprit. See this paper here? No evidence, No arrest.” He then sliced the paper that I held horizontally. I guess this guy never liked negotiations “F#k your laws here, you're nothing but a dirty immigrant without anything value to us decent folks. WE run this city, we can do anything we want and none of your 'friends' can do anything about it. Now hand him over before we had to use bloody brutal force!” He then grinned widely as he was confident with his switch blade pointed straight in my face. Blasted cocky jerk! Another grain of salt in this whole prejudging people! It sucks when they say stuff they don't even know about before! I decided to use my disguise as my advantage and tell it off.
“You need to stop judging before knowing better! No good will come out of it! Change your attitude too!” He then took a swing attempt at my neck, I dodge it and took out the Uzi gun to point at him. “Wow, that's a neat gun you got, but I think it's better for me to have it. Get those Indies, boys! This one is mine!” He ordered them to go after them. “Don't underestimate us!” Bagheera took a pose and he quickly did a one punch knock out! Yikes! “Ping! Look out!” Mushu yelled at 'me.' I looked back at the creepy guy and it was a close shave from his attack as I flexed back. I took that opportunity to kick it out of his hand at the same time as I back flipped. He yelped as I did and his blade went flying far to the streets. “You dirty street rat!” He sounded pissed. “Takes one to know one!” I mocked and regain my aiming. “Now don't move and tell your buddies to back off.” He looked at me with a dead look and then he opened up his jacket to reveal something that makes my eyes widen in fear.
This nut bar hid two packs of bomb strapped at his stomach and he revealed a trigger button on his left hand. But that's not the only thing he had hidden. There was a camera too... a latest model that news reporters preferred to use. “You don't understand a single thing on proper copper training... You need to do anything you can to get what you want. Everything and everybody has a price.” He then got confident again. If he sets it off, we're all done for!
“Now here's my price: I want you to remove that mask of yours. My boss is giving a pretty good amount of clod, hard cash to uncover your face AND wanted to get more dirt on the cops... or maybe on you. Unless of course, you'd rather be unrecognized at the autopsy along with the rest of us.” He waved his camera slowly as he was taunting.
No... How can I get out of this? I gritted my teeth at my options.
If I refuse, we're all dead.
If I reveal my face, not only I'll be fired for obstructing an arrest, but Bendy will take this in his advantage... Only God knows what will happened to my nephews when the authorities will take them away...
I don't know if my 'sight' can detect if the bomb is real or not... Only one option I can take... I put away the Uzi gun.
“Just let them go once you've taken the picture...” I quietly said and he grinned at my answer. “Don't forget the hat too. I can't wait to see you bend over and be our newest wh#re.”
I held back my tongue as I slowly reached for my mask and my hat with shaking hands... I sweated and my heart beats faster...
He took his camera in position to take a good shot of me when I'm masking off. I then froze in fear at my hand on the tied up mask and the other on my hat. “Hurry up. I got thing to do after this!” He hissed and showed the trigger button again to remind me of the situation.
I closed my eyes as tight as I can and said a little prayer to myself.
'God, please. If anything happens to me after this, please spare my friends and family from th-'
Suddenly, a loud unusual bang sound interrupted, shook me up, opened my eyes wide and gasped...
TO BE CONTINUED... Chapter 21.
Read chapter 19 here.
Read the beginning here.
WHOHOO!!! We hit the twenties!!!
I gotta finish my last chapter soon before there’s gonna be a CANON personal traits like with Mickey and Oswald with EP2 game. A.k.a. When she mentioned one was a painter and the older bro is a mechanic genius....
Or even a new character like Alex and Sheba. (Still don’t like the doppelganger.)
Anyways, I DID sort of predicted a plausible tactic traits on the Disney bros.
Like their cartoon counterparts. Mickey would be an ideal candidate if he was supposed to distract people like being the center of attention for example. Oswald on the other hand, may not be in the spotlight (much) BUT it can give him the advantage of a surprise attack or sneaking in like a ninja! If you can’t see him, you’ll think he’s not there until you’ll eat a knuckle sandwich. Get the picture?
And I’ll be honest, the move Heat Eye ability was from a Yakuza game series in a car chase which inspired this scene. I think this would be a GREAT advantage for Felix if he’s up against a tricky and speedy foe in the canon comic.
So his eyes in this story ain’t just for detecting lies and real treasures...
But apart from that, if you have followed the whole series, I hinted on what Bendy did to them on ‘that day.’ Why? Well, that will soon be reveal in the later chapters.
So for this week’s questions: Will Felix unmask himself or did that banging sound interrupted them did something?
Read in next week to see what it is!

Golden eyes Chapter 4
“Why, Kitty and Felix! It's so nice to see you two again!”
I can't believed what I'm seeing. It was Alice Angel. The famous singer of USA. She was wearing her glasses to conceal her identity, along a mauve blouse and matching skirt. White shirt and ruffles. Black heels and her hair was in a braid knots. Why is she doing here in Chicago?
“Why, Kitty! And Felix too! It's been a while! You're still together?” Another cheerful familiar voice that came from the person on the piano. She had light blue Chinese dress with a bit of golden yellow details and matching ribbons in her hair buns. That was Minnie Mouse.
Kitty's mood was enlighten. “OMG! Why didn't you gals tell me you were all here! I would’ve made time!” Alice hugged her. “I'm sorry, but we just bumped into each other earlier and we decided to come here to catch up. You only came in two minutes after that so you didn't miss out much” Minnie joined the conversation. “Isn't this great? The three gemstones of the old chorus reunited after graduation. It feels like time just like yesterday when we were still teenagers.”
Let me explain. These three were once as they claimed, in a chorus. They were all very talented singers, but Alice was the one who really bring out the best of the group's performance. Minnie was the group's pianist. Her skill was well rewarded at the talent show few years back and she sometimes plays with Alice. Did I already mention she's Mickey's girl? And finally, Kitty was the life of the group. Despite she had a different career path, she had a lovely voice and was their closest friends. Almost like the older sister of the group, most of the time.
“Felix.” Kitty asked. “Can you order three strawberry sundaes for us? You can leave after that. Well be having a girl talk after a song for old time sake.” “You don't worry about the payment. Tell him it's from me. He knows who I am.” Alice winked. I just... decided to get their orders. I had enough excitement for today. I've told the owner what they wanted and he said he already know. While I waited at the counter I heard the piano started to play....
Oh, my mother was frightened by a shotgun they say
That's why I'm such a wonderful shot I'd be out in the cactus and I'd practice all day But now tell me what have I got
I'm quick on the trigger With targets not much bigger Than a pinpoint - I'm number one But my score with a feller Is lower than a cellar Oh, you can't get a man with a gun
When I'm with a pistol
I sparkle like a crystal
Yes, I shine like the morning sun But I lose all my luster When with a bronco buster Oh, you can't get a man with a gun
Minnie's piano piece was as lovely as she was when she was playing.
With a gu-un
With a gu-un No, you can't get a man with a gun
If I went to battle
With someone's herd of cattle You'd have steak when the job was done But if I shot the herder They'd holler bloody murder And you can't shoot a male In the tail Like a quail Oh, you can't get a man with a gun If I shot a rabbit Some furrier would grab it For a coat that would warm someone But you can't shoot a lover And use him for a cover Oh, you can't get a man with a gun
The gals with umbrellers
Are always out with fellers In the rain or the blazing sun But a man never trifles With gals who carry rifles Oh, you can't get a man with a gun
With a gu-un
With a gu-un No, you can't get a man with a gun
A Tom, Dick or Harry
Will build a house for Carrie When the preacher has made them one But he can't build you houses With buckshot in his trousers Cause a man may be hot But he's not When he's shot Oh, you can't get a man with a gun
Minnie finished her piano solo while the customers applauded and complimented. The waiter came up to me with the order. I went to place where they settled at the table. After that, I said my goodbyes and left. I decided to return home after a 'productive' day.
I did have some new information on the necklaces, but I'm still no where with the weeds issue and the dog-napping. I then noticed that someone's is watching, following me. So I decided to take an alley route, and he followed me after. This time, I'm NOT gonna let my guard down. I took off my grey cap and started to twirl it with one finger. I slowed my paced and I sang a bit softly, just to let him think I was in cloud land.
“Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo.”
I let him get closer to me, from behind.
“Doo-dloo-doo-doo-doo-doo.”
He matched my timing and he slowly raised his arm. Just a bit more...
“ I'm singing in the-” WACK!
I used my quick reflexes to block his fist, covering with one hand on his. It was a draw. One of my eye winced a bit from the pain. 'DANG! My arm feels like it's got knocked to sleep'. My stalker had almost the same height as I. He had a Navy blue fedora with a black stripped ribbon. Navy blue over coat and pants. Dark brown shoes and his face was well hidden. But I already knew who he was.
“You're better not doing this every time you'll come and see me, Oswald Disney.” I told him. He retrieved his left arm and put it in his pocket and I retrieved mine to caress a bit. Man! his strength might rival with Boris Wolfenstein.
“Aw! I'm touched you remembered me, Hēi māo. Not a lot can do that apart from my baby brother and some acquaintances.” He removed his fedora with his right hand, revealing his smirking face. Like I needed him to make my day as salty as crap again.
“What is it that you wanted this time? Another shake down?” He laughed when I said that. “Nah! Hēi māo, If I really wanted to fight, I'd pick a better opponent or would've done more to you back at the tea shop.” He then tosses his hat next to mine besides mine, here it was laying on the ground on my left.
“I'm here to see what you found in the glass shop.” He stepped closer on the right side of me. I keep my guard up. “I didn't got anything new except some of the necklaces that were on display were almost similar to the ones that were stolen and I think that the store's manager was a real piece of work.” He stopped next to me. “I questioned him some things and the only answers I got was that the shop was owned by a certain guy who owns the King Dice Casino. My second was that the products were delivered to the shop. So much for new leads recommended by you.”
He glared at me and that makes me freeze on the spot. I might hit the wrong button on this bunny. He turned to me and said. “The request was actually Mickey's, not mine.” His face resumed to his resting poker smile look, but I still feel he's giving me the chills and I blushed a bit. But I won't show him that. Until he paced toward me, one step at a timely manner. What's this odd feeling I'm getting from him?
“I know you're a cleaver detective, Hēi māo. You should know as well as we do that the shop was a front to a much different business.” I took a step back as he was getting closer. “You mean the product was-” I hit the wall when I realized what he meant. “Forgeries. Even if they changed the images or added some flair, they made copies from the 'borrowed' originals.” He stopped dangerously right in front of me and I blushed redder. What's this feeling? “Is this what you- HE meant for a new lead? Is he the one who stole the jewelries cases or one of the thieves?”
He grabbed my collar and gently pulls my face closely to his. I started to feel hot.“Good theory, but you're wrong. The one you've talked to is Giovanchi Dazzardo. A.K.A King Dice. He's actually the manager of the King Dice Casino near the Lake Michigan.”
“H-huh?” I already knew that place had some shady reputations with the owner himself alone but... “Are you-”
“No, judging by your fighting style this morning, you wouldn't stand a chance against them even if you asked to investigate. We're talking about professional assassins here. Not the usual hired, dopey muscled, goons mafias likes to toy around. Even Mickey himself would've had trouble dealing these scary clowns.”
Is he telling me I'm not good enough to take on this kind of gang? “Don't be too disappointed. You did well for your first part. Now here's MY second lead. Considered it your little reward for doing well on our requests.” He moved his ginning face to my red ear and said. “Bendy is the one who's responsible for the previous and recent renewed drug distributions.” I was almost surprised.
“Wh- How did you figure that out? Is there proof to your claim?” Even if I wanted to bring down my swore arch-enemy, I have to do it the right way like my father used to do. He then lets me see his face, but he still so close I started to tremble a bit.
“I don't exactly 'HAVE' physical evidence, but I can make you 'HEAR IT' straight from the midget bad apple's motor mouth along with his 'associates.' They are going to have a meeting at the The House of Mouse tomorrow night. Remember what the deal was at noon?” I winced when he said that. Crap! I forgot.
His facial expression had a grinning cheshire cat-like.“If you're thinking about them, I already told you. It's my territory. If they are smart enough to read, they have to get through me first if they wanted to lay a finger or pull the trigger. I promised their safety if something does go south.” He assured me.
Can I really trust this guy? We hardly knew each other apart our profession. Not to mention we are not exactly on 'friendly' terms.“Even if you don't want to, you'll have to go. Micks' negotiations success are very positively accurate.”
“Excuse me? Are you threatening me to go?” I asked with an raised eyebrow.
He didn't held back for his thin patience at the last part when he 'hmp!' and nearly punched through the wall behind me, barely an inch next to my face at a VERY quick reaction. All my red colors faded to white.
That move was impressively intimidating, no wonder he's in charge of Chinatown district.
My expression was pale when I saw a portion of the wall crumbled down a bit with some debris. 'It could have been my face smashed-in instead.' I mentally said before I started chanting 'calm down' repetitively in my head.
“No no, just a 'friendly' suggestion. Sorry if I sounded a bit 'forceful' on ya, Hēi māo.” He then gave me some space, just enough to move a bit. Not much.
“N-no harms d-done!” I lied horribly. I regained my composure and replied with some 'reasonable' facts he'd might have missed.
“I-I understand you and your brother wanted to solve the case as quickly as possible. But I cannot just blindly running at them, banging pots and pans, yodelling 'you're under arrest!', then send to court without hard evidence and then I ended looking like another boneheaded gumshoe.”
He chuckled a bit. “Hehehe! That might have been the best entertainment I had for a while if ya did that. But tell me something, Hēi māo, did you arrest a certain group of thugs nicknamed 'the butcher gang' two week prior at the Chinatown district?”
What the heck is he throwing me off this time? “Y-yes. I caught them for shoplifting some goods at the S.P.I.C.E. Shop it's called. Why you asked? Are they related to this case?”
“Not entirely.” He confessed. “I just heard from my 'sources' they were involved from that specific case with the Snowflake Diamonds.” I was shocked to hear that.
“What?!? But they're supposed to be serving at least six months in prison!” At least from what I heard in the courtroom that day.
“Wanna guess who decided to bargain the authorities and use the crooks as dunce patrol for this plan?” He replied, with his arm crossed and a raised eyebrow from his poker face.
I already knew that answer and grumbled. “Bendy Drew...” He whistle a bit. “Impressive! Either you have more guts to pronounce his REAL name when we first met, or you really have a death wish, Hēi māo. Nobody have the nerve to say it even out of his view. Last guy who did got his throat slashed, grinned to mice meat, added rat poisoning seasoning and feed it to the sewer rodents.”
I didn't care for his tantrums over his last real name, apart the executions. “Never mind that, Tell me why he needed those three now.” He just wave his finger and I was somewhat entranced by him. “Ah ah ah! No so fast. No more freebies if you don't agreed to come to the House of Mouse. If I were you, I'd take my offer. Why? Because your other two feathered friends won't have much luck helping you with this clustered mess of missing necklaces, the dog-napped beagle, and the drugs. They'll be having too much on their plate tomorrow and for the next few day. Your girl Kitiana is in the same boat as them. YOU will be on your own for a bit without much to go on.”
He REALLY wanted me to go that bad, eh? But first I want to make sure if he was just bluffing. “What makes you think they-” He cuts me off. “Let's just say while we each had a bit of work this morning, my sources told me there was some low class thugs stirred up some riot over at the Chicago's Michigan Avenue Bridge. I don't think you'll need me to explain the rest of the work process when these kind of sh!t happens. You'll have your share of the paper work tomorrow. You'll probably have some free time around evening which would be a good beneficial for both of us.” I just stare at him blankly when he'd just spit out those words.
What. The. Fish paste. Did he really just told me I'll have to do as he say no matter what?! Not on one of my nine lives!!!
“If you say what is true,” I started to leave. “Then don't count on me to turn up tomorrow night. I'll probably have to do some overtime because of it. Please give my apologies to your brother, Mickey. MRGH!” I Suddenly felt his hand grasping over my mouth and I was pulled back in front, closely to him. Now that odd feeling from earlier was rushing back! Now my face is a deep shade of red. “Oh! two last thing before you go. First. your hat!” He shoved over my grey golfer cap over my head and eyes. “ I know you'll DEFINETELY come. Mark my words.” He claimed before he released me. I took off my hat just to go after him, but he was no where to be seen. How does he do that so fast? Blasted! That's the second time they escaped with that blinding me trick! Although I admit, it was a clever tactic if one doesn't want to have a parkour chase.
While I was on my way back home after I pick up some meat at the butcher shop, I scoffed of what he's saying might be true and their predictions. Then again, I might be to 'busy' to go. Maybe I might have 'different' plans for tomorrow if I ever got lucky to leave the station. It's a 'possibility' after all. I'm not gonna let him or his brother toying me, nor my family and friends. They can't keep me from my case despite their involvements, they can't tell me what to do and they certainly don't 'own' me! I smiled a bit when I found that loophole in the contract. I arrived at my neighborhood home which it was a decent small house fit for a family. My friend Woody McPecker actually owns our place after his uncle. but he gave me a good selling price for living here. It was a modest home, not too fancy but it was well kept. I entered and decided to put on my green apron and start supper with a few vegetables left overs from last night with some pork chops I bought.
During the supper preparation, I reviewed my cases:
First, there was multiple thefts.
Four missing necklaces, each are related to the Jewelry Show's presentation, contributed by Disney INC.
But each had a different ways of being robbed.
So it's more than just one person who are doing the jobs.
Then there was the second matter:
Countess Violette's beagle was dog-napped.
She and her dog was participating at the Dog Show.
Along with Mr. Vermelho and Mr. Blancheur with their dogs.
Not to mention, Disney INC is also sponsoring the show with the first prize related to the Jewelry Show.
I also found out about there was Minnie Mouse's participating in the contest, despite she might get disqualified for her relation to Mickey's A.K.A. Disney's most famous poster boy and future CEO.
I still don't have anything else to add to this dog-napping case, but it could be some jealousy, just trying to get rid of some competition or something. I have to pray for a good lead.
Now for my third matter:
The possible renewal of the drug distributions.
The one I found might be duds, but there's still troubling to me.
I now know it was Bendy who's behind this and the previous one.
Even when we did a clean sweep of rounding the 'dealers', some might have slipped out of our reach.
But on the plus side, I got one of his TOP member from the Alfonso's mafia with the garbage can trick and he's residing in Texas' prison. It did felt good to at least took him down a peg!
So far, the necklaces were related to the dog show, yet what does the weed have to do anything in between?
And then there was the final 'new' issue I'm not too happy about that happened today:
These 'thanks-to-these-two-my-favourite-childhood-cartoons-and-films-are-now-ruined' Disney's Prick Brothers.
Wait. Scratch that. Make that MOSTLY that rabbit's fault!
It was first the scene with Bendy and Mickey this morning at the theatre that I found out they were 'sort of' together.
Then it was Oswald's 'first impression', the proposition Mickey provided at the Tea shop.
Besides the Glass shop and the girl's unscheduled group date, I had to be followed AND got a second impression from that carrot eater, battle frenzy, screwy rabbit. Plus, what's this odd feeling I'm getting from him, apart annoyance and fear, I felt... Never mind.
He DID however, to be fair, told me some important details for the missing necklaces. Maybe. But I can't trust them, not yet.
I ain't gonna go to their 'House of Mouse' place. No flapping way after what I was introduced to. I can manage these case just fine with what I got and plausibly some new ones!
I put the pork chops in the oven until suddenly, I heard the kids and Kitty coming in with another familiar voice that makes me shiver. I went to see for my self just to tell myself I'm just hearing things. Please let it be just random voices caused by a very long day I'm having.
NOPE! He's here. With my nephews in his arms. Next to Kitty. Mickey Walt Disney himself. In my house... well, my 'humble home' to be specific.
“Uncle Felix! Guess who we just met on our way back!” Inky said with joy. “Mickey Mouse came to see us! How cool is that?!” Winky replied with sparks of happy thoughts.
“You should have seen their reaction when we crossed paths after I picked them up.” Kitty smiled at me.
“Aw! Gosh! Please! I'm just a rookie actor. I'm not all THAT important. I'm really just an average guy outside of the movie sets.” Mickey replied with his charismatic charm. I was still not smiling.
I know that smile is now full of rotten cheese, ya over sized mouse. YOU didn't came here JUST for a visit.
“Say tell me, are you by chance that underdog detective, Felix Lockheart? I heard a few things about you from an acquaintance of my brother's. I really respect those kinds of good people who are dedicated to keep our country safe. Even if it's just for Chicago.” He 'complimented' me.
He's just using that excuse to see me for something I know already.
“As much as I wanted to stay a bit, but I have to stay with my father for tonight. He's not felling well these past few days after some tiring schedules with our animations, theme park and other stuff I hardly ever knew. SO!” He reached inside his black vest and I can tell what they are.
“In one of the stories about your exploits, you helped out a honest family grocery store in the Chinatown district from a group of thugs.” He showed the four tickets. “My Asian friends wished to invite you and your cat family to the House of Mouse tomorrow night with live entertainment. I'll be there along with Alice Angel and my girl, Minnie!” Their eyes were telling me they were all under his charms. Great! Now he's got them against me!
“Whoa! Felix! That place is known for like, almost everything! Class, guests, live music, anything!” Kitty claimed.
“YAY! Night out!” The twins were excited.
“I'll give these to the lovely lady, make sure you don't lose them.” He handed over to Kitty. “Oh! And may I have a small chat with Felix alone? I need to to ask a couple of things.”
“Sure! I'll keep an eye on the meat!” Kitty replied, walking pass by me before giving me a kiss on the cheek.
“We'll do the table!” The twins rushed afterwards.
Now it's just me and him. My face is still plastered with 'wtf are you doing here?' look since he arrived.
“Before you say anything, I don't mock anybody who wears aprons. At least you don't wear what Minnie's got me.” He told me as a joke. “I'm pretty sure you're not here JUST to drop off some tickets.” I told him straight forward.
He grabbed me close with his one arm around my shoulders and whispered. “Listen, I know we were on was a rough start noon, but we really want only you to help us.”
“Why only me? There are plenty of good officers that can help out too.” I whispered back.
“I can't tell you the reasons for now, but I REALLY need you to trust me on this. You have something special that can solve these cases.” He explained but I still don't get it. So I asked. “But WHAT is it?” That mouse just tsked. “It's your hidden talent, obviously. That's the key to help finding the missing necklaces and the dog mysteries.”
Huh?! My 'hidden' talent? “What 'hidden' talent? My detective, soccer or violin skills?” He looked at me with a poker face with an raised eyebrow.
“You know well what 'talent' I was talking about.” He took my chin and make me look straight in the eyes.
Is he referring... No. No, not possible! “No, I really don't know what you were talking about.”
“I can tell when people lie too, ya know? But hey, don't worry.” He then whispered THIS in my ear. “Your 'gift' is safe with us for now.” I froze when he told me that.
NO! How?! I-I...
“Oh dear!” He looked at his invisible watch. “I need to get back with my father and my brother. It's been a while since we had supper altogether. I will take my leave. I hope we will see each other tomorrow night. GOOD BYE!!” They were waiving back at him until he leaves. I was still standing. Lost in thoughts. I... really lost my apatite.
---
It was around 10 o'clock when I was laying in my bed. I was reading the Chinese translations book for when ever I had to deal with some of Oswald's dialogues. I finally found out that 'Hēi māo' nickname he gave me means 'Black cat.'
Pshe! I am somewhat not amused nor surprised! But I still blushed a bit.
What REALLY got me off guard in today's outing was Mickey told me they discovered about my 'secret' talent. His he telling the truth or just bluffing me to tell the truth.
I put down my book next to my night table and then I covered one eye with my left hand. I sighed, close my eyes before I drifted to sleep.
God, why did I have this so called 'gift'?

----- Author’s note:
OHHHHHHHHH!!!!! An early chapter release!
I did wanted to wait for Friday, but I had to work for like the whole day and I might be a bit late on my releases...
So for the song here is was from that musical ‘Annie get your gun’
ANYWAYS! We see that Felix get to know Oswald a bit better (but not in a good way for now.) I hope that this case of webbed crimes isn’t too complicated for anyone... I’m doing my best to make sure it’s understandable so far.
And lastly here’s the BIG question: What did the Disney brothers know about Felix’s ‘gift’? Better yet, WHAT is his ‘gift’?
Keep checking in next week! Cause in the next chapter, our favorite demon and wolf will be there!
