Also while I’m talking about PJO, I really hope that the beach fight scene is badass in the show. Like Percy has not used his powers at ALL so far and I hope the beach fight scene we get hints of how terrifying he can be when he’s actually using them like in the later books

Jamie and Roy spending ridiculous amounts of time together and Phoebe knowing about it definitely means that Jamie’s around Phoebe a lot more in the off-season when she’s off school and Roy’s off work but still being Jamie’s personal trainer for free (and she definitely likes bossing Jamie around just as much as Roy does and finds the ridiculous shit Roy makes him do hilarious)
And you know that thing where kids love to randomly go watch this, I can do a somersault or want to see me do a cartwheel? and then you just have to awkwardly stand there and be like wow whether they actually can do them or not (and sometimes several times in a row have to try to think of something new to say the fifth time they do the exact same thing and then look to you for a reaction)
I’m just saying at some point they’re in some park and Phoebe definitely pulls a look how good I’m getting at cart wheels, Uncle Roy! around Jamie at some point and while Roy just stands there like 🧍‍♂️ and gives compliments that gradually get more and more deadpan and debates turning it into saying how much more impressive that is than anything Jamie’s done all morning but he doesn’t because he’s 90% sure that would just lead to Jamie getting all indignant and competitive and proving he can cartwheel too as if Roy isn’t already annoyingly aware of that from when he was dying trying to keep up with Jamie in Amsterdam while he was cartwheeling and practically skipping
But obviously Roy not saying anything doesn’t matter anyway and Jamie turns it into being like watch this to Phoebe and cartwheeling too and turning to Roy after like well go on, tell me how good I am at that too
Roy deadpans somehow it’s far less impressive watching a grown man cartwheel for attention. It’s just sad, really
But Jamie isn’t offended at all and just shoots Roy an obnoxious smirk and insists you’re just saying that because you know you couldn’t do one. Even trying would probably end with you needing a hip replacement or something
But before Roy can even properly argue or say something bitchy back, Jamie’s turning back to Phoebe with a how about this then? But even though it’s her he asks, it’s Roy he looks to the moment he finishes running a few steps and doing a one-handed cartwheel
And Jamie’s like well now are you impressed??? And god, Roy resents that he is and he could make a dig about how useless of a skill it was as an adult and how that wouldn’t accomplish anything on the pitch and he’d just look like one of the kids that picks flowers on the pitch instead of playing or even paying attention to where the ball is, but instead he rolls his eyes and says yeah okay
And Jamie beams but he doesn’t have time to properly gloat and give Roy shit because Phoebe’s already bossing him around telling him that he has to teach her how to do that too

“The idea of the title ['Starburster'] is about embracing the necessary delusion in terms of how to function [in everyday life]. I imagine it as a world within a snow globe, that you can slip into like a warm bath, but within that world is all the madness and the hysteria. It's about embracing that.”
Tumblr media
“This album is about my fascination with falling in love at the end of the world: the album is about protecting that tiny flame. The bigger armageddon looms, the more precious it becomes.”
Tumblr media
“We’ve always had this sense of idealism and romance. Each album gets further away from observing that through the lens of Ireland, as directly as ‘Dogrel‘. The second album is about that detachment, and the third is about Irishness dislocated in the diaspora. Now we look to where and what else there is to be romantic about.”

proszę infodump us about graveyard appropriate flora in 19th century Poland
Oh woah turns out a Lot of people want to know this. It does make me quite happy... i'll try to keep it interesting and not go off-topic much, but i have to say i do have a fascination for both history and death related subjects, so forgive me any slip ups. It's also important to mention that: 1) i mostly talk here about catholic cemeteries, and not Jewish ones, although many of these things may overlap; things like these were, especially in the latter half of the century, falling under the country's law, and not church law (even though those two often cooperated), 2) this is mostly about Congress Poland (russian partition of Poland). Austria, Prussia and russia all had different laws, obviously, that could affect what I'm talking about here, even if not by much. I'd rather be clean on this one and not assume things about other occupants 3) translating this to english was absolute hell. Sorry if some parts are hard to decipher and feel free to ask for a clarification.
Plants on cemeteries were used for both decorative and hygienic purposes ("trees planted in rows, in equal distance from each other (...) clean the cemetery air, because their roots and leaves absorb decomposition and carbonic acid, and emit the ground's moisture into the air. The best types of trees for cemeteries are poplars, birches, willows and aspens" (it's not in the text, but acacia was also pretty popular) Oględziny i grzebanie ciał zmarłych ze stanowiska higieny publicznej, 1873); it makes sense, considering they were build with walking space in mind, a bit like a park, but further away from the town* and with different sets of social norms, if i can call it that. It should also make sense then, that garden, eatable plants were not allowed to be planted on the cemetery, and could only be planted 5 years after the cemetery closed down (and even then, they could only be planted if they didn't require much digging); it was obviously considered non hygienic (same with water; a cemetery was allowed to have a well, as long as the water from it wasn't meant for drinking).
Most common and liked cemetery plants were the various trees i mentioned before (+ conifers as a whole), roses, jasmine, elderflowers, all kinds of flowers and overall scented plants, often planted on graves themselves. It was also important to mention that cemeteries were built with airflow in mind, so while the trees were recommended, there couldn't be too many of them (unless built as a "barrier" between the town and the cemetery, so that the cemetery air wouldn't flow towards the town). Airflow is also why hill sides were considered a good spot for cemeteries, but only if the wind flew from the town or village towards the cemetery, and not the other way around. The only fruit trees allowed on cemeteries were morus trees, which is directly tied to silk production. Policya lekarska : o grzebaniu ciał zmarych, 1846
*well not exactly; in the beginning, polish catholics really didn't like the idea of walking over 1000 steps away from the town they're living in to the cemetery (1000 steps was the distance required to build a cemetery. Up to this point, the most common kind of cemetery was the one on the church ground, meaning somewhere in the middle of the town. It was also fully under the church law), but it's not like they had much choice? 19th century brought an insane population growth, so cemeteries had to grow as well, and they couldn't exactly... get bigger in the town centre. Also they thought it would be way better for hygienic reasons to have them as far away as possible. This attitude started changing somewhere in the 1820s, but it would take a while until it fully set in, and that's only because a new set of laws rolled around
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I actually live nearby an old cemetery. It used to be an asylum cemetery specifically, built in 1860s, and it functioned for 80 years. Today it's considered a small forest/bike path, but you can still see the relicts of the old cemetery, specifically in the plants that grow there and the paths that still exist; there's a lot of white pines, sawaras, common ivy and periwinkles (cemetary plants popular even today), as well as (invasive) plants brought all the way from the US that used to be a part of then cemetary-park complex. That being said i also live in lower Silesia, which was a part of Germany before world war II, so very much not Congress Poland, but i thought I'll share, because i genuinely love that place and it's history. Cemeteries are interesting 👍

Warning, SPOILERS for the Ending of Episode 4
Ok so i might be a little nit picky here but am I the only one who wished for Hunter to had been a tad bit more emotional? Like we saw this man on the edge of his sanity and all we got was a "hey kid" and a hug. Don't get me wrong, Hunter finally hugged Omega but if you compare Wreckers hug to Hunters hug it kinda falls flat. Like wrecker cried and did the little "readjust and deepen the hug" thing while Hunter just like hug. Dunno I had wished for something more after he had tears in his eyes at the end of season two, didn't see the kid he considered his daughter for month and was shown to clearly was obsessed with finding her. I know Hunter isn't the most emotional but come on

This might not be the right word but I think the fandom got a little entitled with the whole "two years of updates" thing. Also I don't get why people seem to think the game will just... die after they're done.

[ LONG AHH POST ]
Proud to announce that the first revision of the half-serious full-insane Kaalaa Baunaa Wall is done… I haven’t seen an intensive Kaalaa Baunaa character analysis so I decided that I will do it myself. But feel free to correct me on stuff since, again, it’s half-serious and full-insane.
PDF:
Text version of the important stuff I wrote in case you don’t wanna zoom in or open the PDF under the cut. I won’t be pasting the event story takeaways because they are very long and full of unhinged Mocha jumpscares.
Personality
The following points are derived from here:
Tumblr media
Methodical and steady in her approach to tasks.
Known for her soothing presence and being reliable in accomplishing tasks. Very punctual.
Has a contemplative nature, often preferring solitude and observation.
Friendly but rarely intimate.
Maintains a practical outlook, prioritizing efficiency over aesthetics.
Demonstrates a sense of conservationism, as seen in her choice to mend her glasses rather than replacing them.
Character Story Takeaways
Grew up with an astrological background but chose not to believe in its prophetic accuracy. “To hell with it!”
Kaalaa Baunaa was an abandoned child. She was found by Vaquini. her foster parent.
She often engages in misbehavior and fights as a kid. Vaquini would defend her.
She refused her destiny prescribed by her astrolabe, and doodled over it.
She emphasizes the importance of understanding the underlying causes behind events rather than accepting them at face value (or just seeing it as fate).
Voiceline Takeaways
She thinks that people focus too much on linear time and notes its subjective(?) nature. But she has a good perception of time herself.
Prefers Indian food.
Enjoys observing the night sky. She feels connected to it. Human society is complex, ever-changing, and influences her identity in ways she isn’t content about. But the constant nature of the night sky comforts her.
Is humble about her martial arts capabilities. This girl can hit……..
Delulu Corner
Interpretations + Summary of Takeaways
Keeps a steady and level-headed front despite often being anxious and full of doubt towards herself. It pours out when things get truly rough, with dismay and desperation.
Tends to overwork herself and struggles with self-care. She has the incentive to wind down but the guilt would take over her and lock her back into her lab. It is even implied to manifest as an illusory monster that stalks her down.
She held considerably little value towards aesthetics or cleanliness, prioritizing practicality above all. She easily brushed off rat feces in her lab this woman won the idgaf war. She cares more about research routines than things like that, or even more, rules imposed to her.
She may be enabling Kumar... She knows when Kumar is wrong or when Kumar is trying to mess with her but she doesn't necessarily call her out on it. Yes she is very observant towards stuff related to research and the arcane, but can be fooled/lead on otherwise. She may know it but she won't voice it.
She talks and contemplates to herself a lot. Probably a pace-around-the-room-lost-in-thought enjoyer.
Based on her past, she has a tendency to be rebellious and turn her back on certain systems despite being dependent on one herself
For some time, she is quite dependent on Kumar's presence and guidance. She puts a lot of trust in Kumar despite the many questionable things she did to her and the people around her.
(My Insanity) Her tendency to conserve, paired by her predisposition to methodical routines makes it difficult for her to move on from Kumar. And she struggles to properly open up about it or confront it. Kumar left her mark in her way of doing things. The constant nature of her approaches in work/life makes the echoes of Kumar also constant. She would love to break free from the cycle of remembering Kumar by doing things differently, or taking a long deserved break from work... But at the same time, she feels like throwing herself off this 'orbit' is unreasonable, unproductive, and unbecoming of her. So it Rots.
She probably keeps Kumar's glasses, Kumar's bullet, what else? :))

Another little inconsequential red hood thing and I'll admit that I'm decently biased but it irks me to see the whole "Jason can't shut up about his death/he makes his death everyone else's problem" take really frequently because he simply does not do that enough for it to be a thing in like any actual Red Hood story.
It's a thing you see sometimes in modern annuals/comics with large casts, particularly if a writer doesn't seem super confident with writing all of the characters that they're working with or if he's just a background character in this one, because with comics it's quicker to reduce a character to recognizable landmarks than to try and work out a whole new complex voice if you don't really need to, so it's tire iron, Jane Austen, Joker, and death, and it's all written out in dialogue because every character in a group event can't have their own internal monologue, but like. That's pretty much it. UTRH is the establishing event for Jason Todd post death so of course a lot of it is about his death, although it's arguably about the lack of response to his death more than his death itself, and he certainly makes it Bruce's issue but one beef doesn't make a trend. Plus if his death is anyone's issue beyond his own Bruce and Joker are like the number one guys whose issue it is. He THINKS about his death a ton in Lost Days, but it doesn't really reflect externally on any of his interactions besides with Joker, which again, that's justified and relevant beef. Teen Titans 29 is more about his place in the hero community/feeling like he was an outsider even before the bomb/Tim being the new robin than about his death, and side note, that being counted as an attempt on Tim's life also bugs me. He beat him up and then left of his own volition. That's not an assassination attempt its called a fight, albeit a sneaky and unfair one. But anyways. I can't speak on Battle for the Cowl because i haven't read it, both that and Batman and Robin 2009 don't really compel me, but it's entirely possible that's an outlier to my point seeing as I kinda sorta haven't read it and don't care to lmao. Even New 52 (although HIGHLY unpopular) and Rebirth/Dawn of DC/Whatever we're doing now Red Hood content don't really have him talking to people about it besides the occasional little quips. He might make stances that were developed because of his death other people's problem, like in the Mia Dearden Green Arrow situation with the "getting involved in other people's business" issue, but acting like he makes specifically his death everyone else's problem is ignoring all of the perfectly valid actually canon things he makes other people's problem. Most of the unpleasant traits he brings to the table are a result of his death and the sense of abandonment and betrayal that came with it, but that doesn't mean he's bringing his death into it when he acts unpleasantly any more than he's bringing his birth into it when he shows up in the first place. The consequences do not equal the event. All this to say it's irritating when people say the character is grating because he doesn't stop whining about his death when that kinda just indicates to me that they're working off fanon based on fanon based on kinda mid batman annual.
