Ooh I'm not normal about seeing the line by line on twitter of Edwin approaching Charles as he's crying after attacking the Night Nurse- and going directly from Edwin's gentle call of his name, to Charles' tear-drenched, tortured little "no!" When Edwin puts a hand on his shoulder.

I keep getting distracted by how quickly Edwin draws away, because there's so much in that one gesture already, but hearing the contrast of Edwin's compassionate worry with Charles' guilty refusal of it, is just too much, my god.

Charles spends a lot of his monologue/rant throwing blame; at Edwin, at his death, his age, his dad - but ultimately he blames himself for everything and Edwin's unconditional support is like salt in a wound. He doesn't feel worthy of it.

Edwin sees a rejection, on the tail end of Charles having just said he hates being dead too, but Charles can't let Edwin close at that moment, he's too ashamed.

They're both struggling so much with shame!

Netflix, we need a season 2 so Charles can stop being ashamed too goddammit!!
