My biggest pet peeve in historical media is when no matter where or when a setting takes place, the actors are always british. I’m watching a documentary about the romanov’s WHY DO THEY SOUND LIKE THEY’RE IN PEAKY BLINDERS????

#don’t get me wrong the last czar is an amazing show #but rasputin sounds like thomas shelby and the only russian person was a historian who was narrating every so often #I understand hiring british actors if it’s easier but ngl I’d rather take a shitty russian accent than break the immersion #one time in religion class we were watching a documentary about the bible and the romans had british accents #BRITAIN WASNT EVEN INVENTED YET!!!!!!#I know it’s meant to make them sounds more upper class and evil or whatever #but I’m sick and tired of it lmao
