#I think one of the reasons the Tenth Kingdom is so fascinating to me is because of how unintentionally (?) dark it is

If it wasn't for your Tumblr, I never would've watched The 10th (Tenth?) Kingdom. I thank you. 😃
You're welcome.
Now you too can live with the knowledge that we'll never get the planned sequel and, as a result, never see the abomination that these two managed to spawn.

I am haunted by the fact Simon Moore (writer) confirmed that their offspring would be 100% wolf.

Chapter Three
No one knew what to make of Y/N. She acted as if she had never seen a boat. Every little thing fascinated her and she fascinated everyone. It had gotten to the point where she had become a distraction for the men. After all, it wasn’t every day that a female came on board.
And a single one at that.
Shuri watched with a high level of amusement as Y/N searched through Bucky’s office. He wasn’t exactly aware that the pair were in there, but the woman had started asking more questions than Shuri could keep up with. “Have you found what you’re looking for?” Shuri asked, smirking when Y/N finally pulled down a large, leather book. She dropped it on the desk with a loud thud. A cloud of dust appeared when she opened the brittle pages.
“Perhaps?” She tugged at the sleeve of her new jacket. Since Bucky deemed her last clothes “inappropriate,” they went around and asked the other crew to donate pieces that would fit her. Gone was the silky dress. It was replaced by a pair of Natasha’s leather pants, one of Hope’s  white shirts, and MJ’s blue jacket that was too big for her. Everyone on board seemed to agree that blue was her color. Add a pair of Shuri’s thigh high boots and the girl looked like any other pirate. She almost had them believing she was one of them.
It was just the fidgety part that gave her away.
“Are you excited to see Wakanda?”
Y/N looked up, her teeth releasing the bottom lip she’d been gnawing at. She was definitely fidgety. “I think so.” Looking at the book, she flipped the pages. “So…old, fragile,” she murmured, her touch delicate. It seemed she was worried about breaking the pages.
“It won’t break, you know. The pages?” Y/N nodded, finally stopping on a page that seemed to have some information that suited her. When Shuri caught a glimpse of it, she realized it was a map. “I could’ve helped with that.”
“It’s not the land that I’m curious about. It’s the stars.”
Shuri raised an eyebrow, tilting her head as she studied the woman in front of her. She was…something else. “The stars? Captain Barnes keeps the astrological maps under lock and key. He made them himself.”
“He likes the stars?”
“I think he’d rather be a part of them if he had the opportunity. The captain has never quite fit in with the regular crowd.”
“I noticed.” Y/N tucked her hair behind her ear before closing the book. If it was true that he kept those under lock and key, she’d have to talk to him. She wasn’t sure how she felt about that. Not at the moment. While their first interaction was calm enough, there was something about him that she found unsettling. Her heart raced, pulse quickened, and she had a hard time focusing.
Why? He was a man, just like any other. Wasn’t he?
The door opened with a creak, earning Shuri’s and Y/N’s attention. Bucky walked inside, not noticing them until he looked up. Standing in the doorway, his gaze shifted from Shuri to Y/N and back again. He crossed his arms as he leaned against the doorframe. “I could have sworn this was my office.”
“Sorry, Captain,” Shuri said, that familiar glint in her eyes. “Y/N had questions and I didn’t have answers.”
“I don’t know that I believe that,” he muttered, closing the door. Bucky’s gaze shifted to Y/N and he took in her new outfit. How was it this woman managed to make everything look… Bucky shook his head, pulling himself out of his thoughts. He didn’t need to think like that. This woman was becoming more of a distraction with every new opportunity he ran into her. “We’re docking, Shuri. Do you want to show our guest what Wakanda looks like from its shores?”
Shuri jumped up from Bucky’s chair, grabbing Y/N’s arm. “Come on!”
“Uh — I —“ Y/N’s heels dug into the floor and Shuri immediately jerked to a halt. She squeaked in surprise. Y/N certainly didn’t look that strong.
“What is it?”
“I need to speak with Captain Barnes. Privately.”
Shuri watched her for a moment before glancing at Bucky. He was tense, eyeing them carefully. Bucky definitely didn’t want to be left alone with Y/N. She made it difficult for him to think and her lack of memories made her useless to him. He didn’t want to be nice to her and yet he felt obligated when he’d see her bat those lashes. A part of him even wondered if she was aware of the effect she had on him. Of course she did.
They always did…
Bucky looked away when he noticed the look Shuri gave him. Nope, he refused to let her get that smug little grin. She had no business looking at him like that. He could be professional. “Leave us, Shuri.”
The door opened and closed rather quickly, leaving the two alone. The tension in the air was thick and neither knew how to break it. Bucky, a captain who was well respected and a grown man, felt like he was a child all over again. If Steve saw him now? Shaking his head, he turned to the enigma still in his office. He cleared his throat as he sat on the edge of his desk. “What was it you wanted to talk to me about?”
Y/N had been so fixated on the door and her only friend leaving that she had almost missed Bucky’s question. Almost. Turning to face him, she hesitated. How could she ask to see private property? The way Shuri made it sound, no one looked at those maps. Shifting her weight, she turned back to the book and placed it on the shelf. Busying her body did nothing for her mind, but it was worth a try. Wasn’t that what people did? What was the word for it…Procrastination?
“What is it with the women on this ship thinking that I can read their thoughts?” Her cheeks flushed as she looked at him, noting the cheeky grin curving his lips. It was a joke merely meant to ease the clear awkwardness that Y/N was feeling.
“Perhaps it’s because of the look you give,” she quipped. “Piercing eyes and devilish smile, it must make any normal woman weak at the knees.”
Bucky’s ears turned a bright pink before it fully registered what she said. “Normal?”
Y/N hesitated, gnawing at her lip for a mere moment. She had to choose her words carefully.“If you haven’t noticed, none of the women on this ship are what would be deemed ‘normal’.”
“Fair enough,” Bucky agreed, leaning back on his hands. He couldn’t explain it. He didn’t understand it. But this woman was interesting to him. Could it simply be because of how they found her? “Did you have a question or were you wanting to stay here and remind me of facts I already knew?”
“…Shuri brought me here because I was asking questions. Because I don’t remember. However, that being said, I was looking for maps.”
“Oh, there’s plenty of those.” Bucky pushed himself off his desk and joined her side. Immediately he started pulling scrolls down. “What did you wish to see? Wakanda? Stark or Asgard? There’s —“ Bucky’s words caught in his throat when her hand rest on his wrist, stopping him from grabbing anything. He looked at her, studying her features as she struggled to find the right words.
“Not of a place. I was looking for maps of the sky.”
“Oh…” He pulled away from her, a chill replacing where her hand had once been. Bucky hadn’t noticed it before, but she practically radiated heat. He tried to ignore the need to stay close to her and rubbed away the chilly feel that had set in. He was so used to that constant icy feeling that it seemed he forgot what it was like to feel so naturally warm. Shaking his head, Bucky glanced at the cabinet on the far side of the room. It was locked. He wanted to keep it that way. Those maps and everything else inside were his and not the crews. For someone who had to share most things with them constantly, it was important that he keep those for himself. “Why would you need them? The maps?”
Y/N noticed the way he looked at the cabinet. For someone so beloved by his crew, it seemed Bucky had intense trust issues. He would never let her see something if he deemed it important enough. “Never mind,” she murmured, knowing her lack of a reason would not be enough. “It’s probably nothing important.”
“Are you remembering something?”
“No. I guess I was simply hoping I would.” She offered a small smile, already making her way to the door. “I should go join Shuri. She’s excited about returning home.”
Bucky nodded, unable to bring himself to watch her leave. Instead, he stared intently the lined bottles of liquor and wondered if he should divulge in a drink before he was brought before King T’Challa and his welcome committee. Taking a slow breath, he listened to the click of the door and looked over his shoulder. He didn’t understand this woman. She was hiding something. He could feel it.
But did she even know it?
————
Wakanda was a beautiful kingdom. Everyone knew it. It was the favorite for Bucky and his crew to visit because of their fascination with science, the always warm welcome, and the fact that women outnumbered men three-to-one. While the last of the list had mixed reasons as to why it was actually on the list, they could all agree — Wakanda was well loved.
Clint and Natasha had run off to explore and meet up with old friends. MJ decided to drag Peter to her favorite place to eat since he insisted on taking her to The Great Hall of Relics. MJ loved history, but it seemed visiting the hall for the tenth time was a little too much for her. Meanwhile, Hope was visiting Wakanda’s shops with an enthusiastic Scott. Sam, Ned, Stephen, Sharon, was busy focusing on running errands and picking up a few souvenirs.
That left Carol and Darcy on board the ship. They were more than happy to take a break from the chaos that was their crew members and, though they loved Wakanda, they loved the night life far more. They could wait.
But Shuri? Shuri was the most eager to be home. She loved her life as the ship’s surgeon and genius, but that didn’t mean she never missed home. And now she had someone entirely new to show around. “I still cannot believe that you’ve never heard of Wakanda, Y/N! It is beautiful and amazing and —“
“You’re bragging about your home. You know this, right?” Y/N smiled as Shuri shrugged it off, leading her to one of the shops. The smell of incense and food was enough to calm Y/N and make her stomach growl at the same time. She jumped at the noise, pressing a hand to her stomach. What was that?
Shuri raised an eyebrow, snickering when she saw Y/N’s bewildered gaze. “Hungry?”
“Princess Shuri,” one of the tenders spoke, grabbing her attention. “Please, take this.”
“How much?”
He shook his head, wrapping the food up and placing it in a bag. “It’s a gift for your return and for your friend.”
Shuri smiled, nodding her thanks before turning to Y/N. “Can your stomach wait for a bit or would you rather eat now?”
“Show me more.” Y/N was hungry, sure, but Wakanda was unlike the ship. As far as she could remember, she had never seen anything like it before. “Food can wait. I want to experience this.”
“That we can do.”
The next few hours, Shuri spent arm in arm with Y/N. Every single historical sight was shown along with the fantastical ones as well. Shuri was far more interesting to listen to than any normal guide. She spoke with such interest and it was easy to tell that her heart was here. Y/N wondered why she chose to stay with the ship.
“Why not be princess?” The confused look on Shuri’s face revealed that Y/N had actually voiced her thoughts. “I — I mean —“
“I understand what you mean. And in truth? Wakanda is amazing and it is the kingdom that treats its females the best. However, they still have much to learn. As do I. And I cannot learn the world’s secrets and people’s truth from inside a kingdom’s walls.”
“A ship gives you those opportunities?”
“Captain Barnes gives me those opportunities,” Shuri corrected. Y/N nodded, still not entirely sure she saw what it was about the man that everyone adored so much. She felt the princess squeeze her arm and looked her way. “He’s a good man. He left behind a life created for him to make one for himself. He’s a good captain, I promise. I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t mean it.”
Y/N knew she should believe Shuri. After all, she had a history with Bucky that Y/N didn’t. “He’s so distant.”
“Wouldn’t you be? He has a lot of weight on his shoulders and his past holds a lot of pain.”
Y/N frowned at that, wondering what parts of Bucky’s past kept him so withdrawn. What made him feel like he had to keep the world at arm’s length while what made him tick was locked away in the cabinet?
And who knew about the real Bucky?

Frozen Lake || Taehyung || Oneshot
Tumblr media
Word Count: 2803
Genre: angst, one shot, prompts, mythology!au, fluff
Summary: Taehyung had lived for one purpose but now that it was gone, what’s he to do with his life?
 Based on “Singularity” and prompts from “Five Word Prompts”;
“and slowly… i was forgotten.”
“and then everything just disappears.”
“and where do i go?”
The snowy terrain stretched for miles. In the distance, you would see a single tree protruding from the ground, dry and barren as if reflecting its surroundings. When moving closer, you would see a boy. His hair was black but he was dressed in a white that blended into the backdrop. He sat beside the frozen lake, staring in and not showing a sign of being cold. It seemed as if he hadn’t moved in centuries and only a blank expression was left on his face.
There were rumors from the village nearby that this boy was Narcissus from the legends; a boy who had been cursed to fall in love with his own image, or at least someone similar to Narcissus. Some thought that he was a specter, chained to the frozen lake and the barren tree by some warped and twisted memory. Others thought he was a young god, awaiting someone worthy of his help to arrive (though none of those people dared to approach, for fear of him actually being a demon in disguise). In reality, no one knew the boy’s story and no one ever tried to ask for it. Fear seized them whenever they even got close to him and they would do whatever it took to walk around him.
You grew up in that village. It was the closest village to this mysterious lake but the furthest village from any other civilization. You weren’t sure why your ancestor had built such a secluded village here where winters were long and summers ended in the blink of an eye but you hoped they had a good reason—you had been forced to live in this odd place your entire life after all.
Growing up in such a small village, there was little to entertain you. You lived for the summer time when you could freely go out without your parents fearing you being caught in the blizzard. But summer time was when the boy wasn’t there anymore. And as you grew older, you wanted to talk to the boy by the frozen lake.
When you were young (around six), you first saw the boy with your own eyes. Before, you had merely heard rumors about him but seeing him, sitting there…you were entranced. Not only by the scene or the situation but by his looks.
The boy by the frozen lake looked very…delicate. His skin was a soft tan and his lashes were long and rested against his cheeks. His lips were a rosy pink and he breathed out in small puffs. He wore no jacket but he never seemed cold. And he just sat there, silently, staring down at the ice and presumably his own reflection. You had wanted to approach him the first time you saw him. Your parents, however, were not too fond of that idea.
“Do not go near him,” they had constantly warned you through your younger years. “He is trouble. We do not know who he is but if he can sit outside in this weather without dying then he is something we should not talk to, understand?”
You understood but that did little to keep your fascination at bay.
Whenever you could, you would get as close as you can without arousing suspicion from the boy and as close as you can without angering your parents. You would watch him. He never moved. He never ate, you also noted, and he never got up to relieve himself in anyway. He just sat there, his white clothes blending into the snow, and his dark eyes concentrated on the frozen ice. And when summer came around, when you could finally head out with your friends to play in the open fields, the boy would be gone.
You had grown and gotten taller and older since you had first laid eyes on the boy (who, upon closer inspection now that you were older, seemed more to be a “young man” rather than a boy) and you were now allowed to venture out of the village to go to the next town. You were heading out for school and before you do that, you wanted to finally talk to the boy.
Pulling on a thick jacket, a scarf, gloves, and accompanied by a canister of hot soup and a wool blanket, you headed out to the frozen lake. As expected, the ethereal boy sat there, staring at his reflection or whatever else might have captured his attention. You approached carefully, not daring to breathe. As you got closer, he didn’t look up and he didn’t acknowledge you. You sat down. You carefully placed the wool blanket over his shoulder and looked curiously at the ice. It was just his reflection and now yours.
“Would you like some soup?”
There was no response. You almost felt as if you were speaking to a statue. You sat beside him silently as you poured a cup for yourself and carefully sipped at it, sighing in relief at the warmth. You glanced over at him. He had moved. He had tugged the blanket tighter around him but that was all the reaction you received. You turned back to the lake.
You visited him a few more times. You had two weeks before you would have to leave to the next town but you were determined to speak with this mysterious boy. You wanted to hear his story. You had a feeling it would be magnificent, if not depressing. You almost didn’t care about the consequences. Perhaps there would be none—but only if your parents didn’t find out.
On the tenth day of yours visits, the boy finally took some soup. And on the twelfth day, he spoke.
“Why…do you come out here?”
You were surprised by his voice. For a moment, you couldn’t believe your ears. The silence had been so natural and now that it had been broken, it felt odd. You were scared but a thrill ran through you. His voice was deep. It reminded you of the drums that were played during festivals in your village, steady and soothing. It took you a minute to respond but before you could, the young man spoke again.
“You aren’t afraid of me?”
“No,” you replied boldly.
“Why?”
“You never did anything to harm us. You just sat here, staring into the lake.”
“And that does not scare you?”
“Not in the slightest.”
“Liar.”
You didn’t look over at him, for fear of him disappearing if you did. “It just…fascinates me.”
“Fascinates you.”
“I wonder…how you ended up here and why you look into the lake. Where do you go during the summers? How long have you been here?” you were looking up now, at the white barren land ahead of you. “What’s your story?”
There was a long pause, spreading to a span of an hour. The sun began to set and you picked up your belongings, getting ready to leave.
“Come back tomorrow,” the low voice said. “I will tell you then.”
And you did. You sat beside him, handed him a cup of soup, and waited patiently for him to start.
“I…am a god…of sorts,” he started hesitantly, “Of a long time ago. A young one but I was worshipped as someone who would bring joy and happiness to the people. I was brought into the world by the people’s wants and needs and I grew quickly from their confidence in me and their favor…my name is Taehyung.
“A long time ago this land was prosperous. It was a small kingdom…the king spoke highly of me. I was a patron, I suppose you could say. The people worshipped me without question and as I grew stronger, I was able to further help the land prosper. Those were…good times.”
You glanced over at him then. His beauty was overwhelming but you could see the sadness weigh on his handsome features. His lips pursed and he inhaled deeply before continuing.
“I was young and the popularity made my head grow. I became cocky. I got whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. I lived the best life—a life better than the king. I never showed myself to the common mortal. That is against the rules, but I did travel amongst them as one of them—as one of you. That was my first mistake.
“Mortals are interesting beings. They are similar to animals but their feelings are much more complex. They have many emotions and they separate themselves naturally as the superior species, even among themselves. They have a god-complex, I suppose, and it was entertaining to be a part of that.
“There was one mortal though who I was sure was a god…they had beauty beyond compare. Everyone they met, they entranced. They walked as if they floated, their aura was sweet and alluring. It was hard not to fall into their eyes with the way they’d look at you…before I knew it, I fell in love. And as cocky as I was, I had to have them. Who better to suit them than me, a real god?”
You quietly poured Taehyung more soup, your body buzzing with excitement now that you knew his true identity but you also felt pity. How did a great, young god end up here? Where had that small kingdom gone? You waited as he took a sip of the warm soup before staring again.
“I was naïve. You see, I was born from the hopes of people and lived in the mortal realm my entire existence, so I had never met another god before. No one ever taught me—I never had a mentor…I just knew the basic rules but I felt as if I was above it all. So, I pursued them, that person who I had fallen helplessly in love with.
“When I spoke to them, it was the first time I felt nervousness. It was terrible, I am not sure how you humans deal with it. My palms got…sweaty, I think that’s what it’s called, and I had trouble breathing. My heart raced quickly and I thought I was going to die. But I spoke to them and I spoke to them again and again. I began to focus all my attention on this one person and I forgot about who I was and why I existed. I just wanted to protect this person. I wanted them to be happy…”
Taehyung sighed. He pulled the blanket closer around him and he rested his chin against his knees, his eyes looking as if they were getting heavy. You frowned and offered him a cracker which he took. He ate quietly, drank some more soup, licked his lips, and started once more.
“That was my second mistake, I suppose, but once you’re in love—I’m not sure if you have ever experienced it, since you are so young—but once you’re in love you forget about all that. You don’t think you would, but you will. And for once in my life, I was actually happy. I was content. I was glad I had this person and I decided I was going to be with them the rest of my life…but that was wishful thinking.
“They were part of an aristocratic family and in my mortal state, I was nothing. I was a writer, which did little. I had no sponsors for my works but I had an ‘inheritance’, one that I made up in order to work. I had a leisurely life, but it wasn’t good enough to marry someone of such high status. And, with someone so alluring, they’d catch everyone’s attention…and they did. They caught the king’s attention.
“It was a doomed love from the beginning and I knew it. Even if they did love me, it made no difference. They were married off to the king as soon as the offer came in and I never saw them again. The kingdom…began to wilt. I was tired and I was depressed. I lost my way, all I could think about was that person who I had given my heart to. The kingdom fell into a drought and then a famine and then a plague came to visit. I visited that person one last time before the plague stole their last breath and they…they resented me. They asked me why I had done this and I had no answer. I couldn’t tell them it was because I was grieving the loss of their love and that was why I had laid plague on them and the kingdom.
“I wanted to die. After the kingdom fell apart and buildings corroded into nothing, I was left alone here, in front of this lake and in front of this tree where I was born. I wanted to be taken away. I wanted to be…disposed of. But I couldn’t be. I am a god and nothing can kill a god but another. And none were willing to. So, I tried it myself. I jumped into this lake but it wouldn’t work. I would stay at the bottom the entire summer and during the winter—the time of my birth—I would come back out, alive and well. It’s never worked and I don’t think it ever will, but that is why I am gone during the summers.”
There was a pause. He breathed and then sighed. He moistened his lips.
“I cannot tell you how long I have been here, child, because I have forgotten as well. The story was long ago yet I still remember it as if it were yesterday and I live in yesterday. I have no tomorrow and I have no today. I still feel as if I am in that time where it was only days ago that the kingdom fell.”
You looked at him with pity. He had loved someone so much that he had brought ruin to himself and everything around him. You lightly bit your lower lip. “If you could go back, would you change what you did? About loving that person, I mean.”
“No,” Taehyung replied firmly. “It’s selfish of me but I wouldn’t.”
You nodded. “And…is that all there was to the story?”
Taehyung smiled weakly. “Yes. Slowly…I was forgotten…and everything just disappeared. You may speak to me now but you will disappear as well someday. You, the only person who knows of me…and then I will wonder again: ‘Where do I go?’ and again, no answer will come. That is my existence.”
“Shouldn’t you still try?” you asked quietly. “You can still try. You can go somewhere else and be a patron there.”
“No, it is useless. I will just ruin things again—”
“No! Don’t think like that,” you said, glaring at him crossly. “You said so yourself. You were young and naïve and, okay, ruining an entire civilization isn’t the best way to learn your lesson but you’re a god! That’s small scale, isn’t it? Now that you’ve learned it, you can go out and try again.”
Taehyung stared at you, surprised. “I—but—no, what if I—”
“Kill more people?”
Taehyung nodded.
“You won’t! Because you would have learned from your mistakes.”
Taehyung scoffed despite himself and shook his head. “No, child, you don’t understand—”
“I think you don’t understand.”
“No…that’s…no, that’s not…”
“Are you afraid?”
“Of course.”
You frowned and looked away thoughtfully for a moment. “Then…how about you become my patron god?”
“Pardon me?”
“Bring me happiness and joy. I can help you get back on your feet,” you said, your eyes sparkling with determination.
“No, that’s…well, no I think I can…but no, that is not a good idea. What if I harm you?”
“Then harm me! I’m fine. I’m just a human.”
“…That isn’t…how it goes…”
You grinned. “I’m tough. And I believe that you wouldn’t do that. You’re a good god.”
You smiled widely despite Taehyung’s wide eyes of disbelief and for a moment, Taehyung saw the person he had fallen in love with shimmer in front of you. You two…you two were alike…
He felt an ache in his chest that made him want to double over. His eyes teared up but he slowly nodded. “I…I suppose…”
“Really?!”
“Yes…it would be good…training.”
You laughed, “Wow! I didn’t think you would accept! This is great!”
Taehyung smiled slowly and nodded. Really, you did seem like them… “Yeah…yes, thank you, Y/N.”
You raised an eyebrow. “How did you know my name?”
Taehyung’s eyes widened and he faltered a second before he made a lie about overhearing it.
“Oh, so you did notice us!” you grinned.
Taehyung nodded and he smiled softly when you declared you had to head home. It was them. You were them…this time, he will try his best to not disappoint you. That was his new purpose in life.

Jeremiah 26:1-27:22, 2 Thessalonians 3:1-18, Psalms 85:1-13, Proverbs 25:16
Today is the 15th day of October. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I'm Brian. It's great to be here with you. I was just thinking is this the dead center of the month? But this is a month with 31 days, so I guess we gotta get halfway through this day and then we're halfway through the month. Anyway, welcome to the center of the tenth month of the year. It's great to be here with you and we've all come together around the global campfire today for one primary purpose and that is to take the next step forward and allow God's word to speak into and over and under and around our lives today. Which will take us back into the book of Jeremiah. And we're reading from the New International Version this week. Jeremiah chapter 26 and 27 today.
Commentary:
Okay. In our reading from Jeremiah today, the prophet Jeremiah was instructed to go into the temple courtyard in the center of Jerusalem and say, This is what the Lord says, if you do not listen to me and follow my law, which I have set before you and if you do not listen to the words of my servants the prophets whom I have sent to you again and again, though you have not listened, then I will make this house like Shiloh and this city a curse among the nations of the earth. So, Jeremiah obeyed, but it got him in trouble, which isn't really that shocking. Jeremiah walked into the courtyard of the holiest site in the holiest city and foretold destruction, right? So, he essentially prophesied that everything that gave the Hebrew people an identity would be demolished. So, we could understand how a mob could form around this. But why did God send Jeremiah to say such a thing? Such a foretelling of doom and destruction in such a holy place. Why did God instruct Jeremiah to do that? God says why. Maybe they will listen. Maybe they will turn from their evil ways. Then I will also relent, right? I will change my mind about the disaster I'm ready to pour out on them because of their sinfulness. So, once again we see God giving options through his prophets, right? There's so much foretelling of destruction in the prophets that we can often forget those things hadn't happened yet. They were prophetic utterances giving a warning to the people, a crossroads as it were. Like here you are. If you continue on this path, this is what's gonna happen. But if you return to me, then that can be avoided. So, we've talked about repenting and repentance many times on our journey through the Bible this year. And just by way of reminder, repentance by definition is to change your mind and go in another direction. So, in effect, God sent Jeremiah into the holiest site in the holiest city to tell the people that if they would change their minds, he would also change his mind, which is fascinating indeed because if it's true for them, it's true for us. Jeremiah got mobbed after giving that prophecy. And we can tell why that would happen. And he was dragged in front of the Jewish council and many people wanted him to be executed because he had spoken against the temple, which was a big no-no. And ironically, it's the same accusation that would be aimed at Jesus, right? That he would destroy the temple and raise it up in three days. Six hundred years later, this is the same kind of accusation that would come against Jesus. Of course, Jeremiah isn't killed and so after they kind of debate it all out, Jeremiah's released. But then God tells him to do something almost as inflammatory. So, God told Jeremiah to put a yoke on top of his neck, fasten it to himself with leather straps and then make an announcement to the king of Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyre, Sidon and Israel. So, the ambassadors of these kingdoms were in Jerusalem for some sort of summit and Jeremiah was instructed to tell all of these kingdoms, including Israel, that they needed to surrender to the Babylonian empire. In fact, Jeremiah pleads with Israel's king, why is it that you are intent on dying? Why are you doing everything that you can that is only going to make you die and the people along with you? Of course, nobody listened to Jeremiah, right? So, he was pleading. He was bringing the word of the Lord and nobody was listening. But we can kind of get our minds around why. I mean, that's a lot of kingdoms and a lot of people and it's no small thing for a nation to surrender and be assimilated. So, no one listened, and Babylon did conquer and destroy the land and the people were exiled, which will bring us to one of the most famous verses in the entire Bible. But that'll have to wait until tomorrow.
Prayer:
So, Father, we thank You for Your word. We thank You once again for the reminder that You respond to us when we respond to You, no matter what path we're on and no matter what kind of destruction we may be heading into, we can change course. We can repent. We can change our mind. We can change our inner selves and go in a new direction. We can return to You, which will change the destiny of where we end up, which will change the trajectory of where we were going. So Holy Spirit come. Show us the paths that we are on that are only leading to destruction. Let us see them clearly so that we might follow You and navigate off those paths by repenting. Changing course and getting back onto the narrow path that will lead to life. Few find it, but we want to be one of the few and we will never find it without Your guidance. So, we surrender to You. Come Holy Spirit. Lead us into all truth, we pray. In Jesus name we ask. Amen.

Good morning DABbers my name is Anna and I’m from Los Angeles. I am calling this early morning because I’m just under a lot of pressure and are a lot of desires and dreams in my heart that I’ve been praying for for a long time and I wanted to ask all of you to join me in prayer. The first is that I’m dealing with a bully at work and he’s a man. He’s been getting to the point where authorities have to be involved. It’s not only that I’m disturbed by his bullying behavior but I’m really bothered by the emotions that it brings up in me and really trying to press through and grow in not allowing what people say to me to ruffle my feathers and bother me but also be wise about what is not appropriate behavior, but please pray for wisdom. __ with my health. I’ve been losing my hair and I’ve been breaking out all over my body and the doctors are trying to find out what’s going on. Please pray for healing and restoration of my hair. Especially as a woman, it’s so important for me to have my beautiful long hair. And also, please pray for my heart. I have not been in a relationship for four years since I lost my boyfriend to a car accident. And recently I met someone, his name is Cameron and his heart is in a lot of tumult as he’s coming back to Christ. Please pray that he would be fully restored to Christ and that our relationship would be restored in peace and in purpose and, yeah, and joy. His name is Cameron and I love him very much and I have so much hope for him and I know that he needs to come to Christ on his own terms. And also, lastly if you could pray for me, I started a…
Hi this is Jay from New York City. I am a medical student. I’ve called before. I’ve been listening to the Daily Audio Bible for about, I believe like 10 years now and I’m very thankful for this community. It’s always been present, especially during trying times. And I am very prayerful concerning DABbers needs. And I am also encouraged by their praise reports. It’s just a very real community and a very real place to just reflect and appreciate all that God is and all that he does. So, I’m currently…I’m nestled in a bit of a situation. It’s not impossible…as nothing is impossible with God. I’m in my last year of medical school and it’s been eight years. I kind of had to take a longer course because of my parent’s illnesses and because I also had some learning difficulties. I have a learning challenge. So, here I am, my last year, I’m getting a residency in __ and I took my step two CS which is part of the licensing procedure and I did not pass it. It’s comprised of clinical skills, applying clinical skills in a standardized setting with standardized patients who act like patients. I failed on many components and if you fail one component you fail the exam. So, I did not pass and it poses a little bit of a challenge…
