Ever- After Challenge by Im Gennix

ₓ˚ ୭ ˚◦˚ Ever After Legacy Challenge ˚◦˚ ୧ ˚ₓ

This is a ten generation legacy challenge that will cure you of your boredom! Each generation has in-depth storylines that helps assist you to adding more volume to your sims origins and gameplay. With sets of goals and requirements that each generation must complete before a new heir takes over.

Rules:

○ You can add in extra details/plots/events/etc, that you may want to for each generation. You can feel free to make this as crazy as you may want it to be. The goal of this legacy challenge is to help guide gameplay.

○ Money cheats are allowed to a certain degree. You can do cheats like “freerealestate” and “money 00″ for story-telling purposes. (But I don’t think you will need it XD)

○ Feel free to use MODS to further enhance your gameplay. No restrictions here just super excited to see what everyone does with this challenge.

○ ALL goals and requirements must be met before a new heir takes over

Generation 1 ⚘ The Fixer Upper

All your life you’ve dreamed of renovating homes. It is your passion, and nothing is going to stop you! You start out as a young adult with only $5,000 simoleons to your name and an empty plot of land waiting to be utilized into something good! With your own two hands, build up a home and furnish it with items you’ve collected/bought. You can either dumpster dive, shop at retail stores, or thrift at flea markets.

However, countless nights alone in the unfurnished home has been quite lonely. You can’t help but feel like this is something that should be done with a family. So you go on dates. Hoping to find someone to settle down with, to build this legacy with. It is on your 5th date that you believe you’ve found your perfect match. You know this with your whole heart and soul! The two of you meet, fall in love, and get married all within the span of a week. You’re a busy couple, the house won’t build itself.

Soon, the now once empty lot is complete! And you are ready to move out. Move out your household and sell the furniture. Now your family is ready to move onwards to another renovation. However, this time it’s an abandoned home near the beach in Sulani. You move your family into this abandoned home and with the help of your partner, along with your little children, you guys renovate this into your permanent forever home.

Aspiration: Big Happy Family

Location: Sulani

Goals/Requirements:

○ Max the Charisma, Handiness, & Parenting Skills

○ Have at least two kids

○ Fully furnish one home with items you’ve bought/collected

○ Start anywhere at first but then move to Sulani after renovating the first home

○ Go on five dates, each date is a different sim

○ On the fifth date, you find the one. Fall in love and get married all in one week

○ Complete your aspiration up until “Caregiver”

Optional:

○ Reach level six in the Interior Designer Career

Generation 2 ⚘ The Greatest Love Triangle

The new neighbors moved across the waters. They had a little kid just the same age as you. The kid even went to the same school. You decided in your head to make this kid your friend. No scratch that, your best friend! You spend your afternoons combing the beach for seashells and unique items to give to your shy new friend. Neglecting your after school projects and even homework at times. All you wanted to do was play with your new friend.

All things changed once you reached high school, your best friend got hotter, you got hotter, or was it the blazing sun in Sulani? Who knows, but all you knew was you have the hots for your best friend and there is nothing you can do about it. Or is there? A little harmless flirt here and there wouldn’t kill anyone right? It was at this time that your parents started cracking down on your “future”. They constantly nag you about your goals and plans and honestly you yourself have no clue. The constant badgering puts a slightly negative strain on your relationship with your parents. So when you become a young adult, you move out with your best friend to a nearby beach home.

The two of you are now ready to party all night long. Yes you still have the hots for your bestie but would you be down to ruin this good friendship if things don’t end up working out? That fear keeps you from pursuing anything with them but like before, the little flirtatious tickling, endless cloud gazing, and even little winks here and there just pulls at your heart strings. One night at the bar with your bestie, a hot new eye-candy appears. You feel a tingle, or is it the drink? You introduce yourself and sparks ignite! Thus, the greatest love triangle of a lifetime!

Traits: Cheerful, Romantic

Aspiration: Soulmate

Location: Sulani

Goals/Requirements:

○ Max the Mixology, Dancing, & Mischief skills

○ Become best-friends with the neighbor’s kid

○ Maintain an average of C throughout middle and high school.

○ Once young adult, move into a new place with your bestie

○ Go out for drinks at least two times a week

○ Meet a new love interest at the bar

○ Go on at least two dates with the love interest

○ Maintain a small romance between you and your bestie

○ Have at least two kids

○ Marry either your bestie or the love interest

○ Complete your aspiration

Generation 3 ⚘ No Time For Love

A whole childhood of listening to the same love story a thousand times. At this point you’re surprised you’re still sane. Nothing is worse than listening to your parents rave on and on about how perfect they are for each other and how they were meant for one another. Oof, not to even mention the constant public display of affection! It was embarrassing for you!

You grew up gagging at the thought of love. The thought of “the one” disgusted you. The last thing you wanted to do was find “the one”. You wanted to be better than your parents. You wanted an education, a REAL job. After high school you set out for Uni to pursue a career in engineering. Finally you’re excited to move the heck out of that god forsaken town! Screw the beach! The only problem was you didn’t have much money to attend college and you were not going to ask your parents for money! The only other person you knew that had money to help fund for your schooling was your Aunt/Uncle. Mustering up the courage to contact them, you ask them to borrow a sum of money. And set out to start your life!

You move out of Sulani and into one of the Uni dorms. There you meet your best friend and a few lovers. But they never lead to anything serious. You weren’t looking for that. You graduated and quickly found a job as an engineer. Your goal is to climb the top of the ladder. Nothing else matters to you. It was all going perfectly fine until a one night stand leaves you with very bad news. The glove broke and now so are you.

Traits: Hot-Headed & Ambitious

Aspiration: Fabulously Wealthy

Career: Computer Engineer

Location: Anywhere

Goals/Requirements:

○ Max the Robotics & Programming Skills

○ Attend Uni and graduate

○ Borrow money from your Aunt/Uncle before you start Uni (max 10k, you can use cheats/mods for this)

○ Live in an apartment after Uni until you have enough money to buy a house

○ Reach level ten in the Computer Engineer Career

○ Visit your parents only on holidays

○ Never marry

○ Get pregnant/get a sim pregnant from a one night stand

○ Favorite color is navy blue

○ Complete your aspiration

Optional:

○ Hire a nanny to take care of your kid

○ Maintain a low relationship with your child

Generation 4 ⚘ What the Cow Poo?

Living in the busy city was the best thing ever! There was always something happening, never once a dull moment. That is where you adapted the love for social media! Always posting selfies and Simstagram stories. Without the internet you would simply die!

A week into your new job as a style influencer, you received a call. Your landlord is evicting you for unknown reasons and you have to move out IMMEDIATELY. Stressed out, you call up your parent and they tell you that your great-grandmother has some land somewhere in the countryside.

Defeated, you hop on a plane and travel to Henford On Bagley. The smell hits you and you almost faint. The stinky cow poos and chicken feed was definitely not it. What’s even worse? NO WIFI! The place is totally OFF-THE-GRID! A one bedroom shack, a few chickens and a cow. Now you have to find your way and make this place your own.

Traits: Materialistic & High Maintenance

Aspiration: Friends of The World

Career: Style Influencer

Location: Henford on Bagley

Goals/Requirements:

○ Max the Fishing, Cooking, & Gardening skills

○ Start out in the city as a young adult and a week into your new job as a style influencer, get evicted and move to Henford on Bagley

○ Max friendship with the animals on your farm

○ Grow a healthy garden

○ Find love and get married to a local townie

○ Have at least one child

○ Loves to over dress

○ Lot MUST be Off-the-grid

Generation 5 ⚘ The Animal Lover

You love animals! They are your whole world! Growing up and living in a home with a bunch of farm animals you grew to have so much love in your heart. All you ever wanted was for all animals to have a good and loving home.

Growing up in Henford, you realized that there are quite a lot of strays but not even a vet clinic in site! So you set out your goal. Open the very first vet clinic right at the heart of Henford On Bagley. The goal is to make sure your love for animals is reached across the whole town.

When it comes to your love life, you are quite picky. You never see yourself being with someone that doesn’t like animals so you set out to only date people who have the animal lover trait. Hoping you could start a family with little fur babies running around as well.

Traits: Animal Lover & Family Oriented

Aspiration: Friend of the Animals

Career: Veterinarian (Vet Clinic Owner)

Location: Henford on Bagley

Goals/Requirements:

○ Max Pet Training, Parenting, & Veterinarian skills

○ Only date/marry sims with the Animal Lover trait

○ MUST adopt four strays you come across! You must adopt the first four you see. No picking and choosing (make sure a community lot in the town has the “cat hangout” or “dog hangout” if you do not have the mod that spawns in strays)

○ Open a vet clinic somewhere in Hanford on Bagley

○ Complete your aspiration

Optional:

○ Take a photo of every pet that comes to your vet clinic

○ Have a whole wall full of client’s pet photos

Generation 6 ⚘ Homeless Theft

You are a criminal. A horrible one at that. One that will go through any lengths to steal and cheat. It is what you do. Some can say you got the twisted genes. Your parents were disappointed in you so they kicked you out. Now homeless and broke, you have to use your skills to earn a living.

Steal, lie, and cheat to your heart’s content. Because that is all you can do. But there is a catch. In order to stay clear from the police, you must change your appearance every time you get caught. That means plastic surgery. And it’s not free. $2000 simoleons to change your appearance. So be sure to not get caught.

Traits: Kleptomaniac & Hot-Headed

Aspiration: Public Enemy

Location: Anywhere

Goals/Requirements:

PSA: You DO NOT need to change your entire catalog of clothing if you get caught. Just the outfit you were caught in. <3

○ Change your appearance every time you get caught ($2000 Simoleons)

○ Favorite color is black

○ Only have one outfit until you can afford more ($500 Simoleons per outfit)

○ Befriend a sim just to steal their things

○ Max the Mischief & Athletic skills

○ Have at least 3 tattoos

○ Complete your aspiration

○ Have at least one child

Generation 7 ⚘ Finding The One

Your childhood life was very interesting. Your parent(s) spend a lot of time moving around and not very much time settling down. You were taught from a young age the ropes of thievery. Yeah your brain tells you that you might want to dabble in it from time to time but you want to be different. You want to be different from how your parent(s) has raised you. Therefore you set out to start your own life and with this new life of yours you find love while finding yourself.

You have your very first love. The person of your dreams or at least that’s what you hoped that person was. After a long good time together things just don’t work out so you divorce. Then there’s the hot fling of the spring. Still trying to find yourself you fall deeply in love. Not wasting any time you both get married as quickly as you can. However, after a kid and some issues in your relationship you guys decide to part ways.

Two failed marriages in, living life as a single parent, and still hopping from job to job things just aren’t going your way. At this point it just makes sense to just be alone. But you’re a hopeless romantic. You just can’t help it, you want that thrilling romance that you read in the novels, you want that kissing in the rain moment. That is when you suddenly meet this incredible sim. It’s the fact that there’s nothing special about the sim that makes them so special. However, do you hear wedding bells or is your heart still mending from preivous wonds?

Traits: Romantic, Erratic

Aspiration: Soulmate

Career: Education & Odd Jobs

Location: Tartosa

Goals/Requirements:

○ Max the Charisma & Knitting skills

○ Must get married and divorced two times

○ With the second marriage, you must have a child before divorcing.

○ Live in a tiny house OR apartment your whole young adult-elder life

○ Name your children after birthstones

○ Marry the sim or choose to stay single

○ For each stage of your life marry and divorce a sim. (Young adult is the first marriage, Adult is the second marriage, and so on)

○ Reach level five in the education career, quit and then only do odd jobs from then

○ Complete your aspiration

Optional:

○ Have a kid during the first marriage

Generation 8 ⚘ Salsberry Steak

You grew up not knowing how to cook. Gosh the thought of being in a kitchen just pisses you off. Like what kid wants to spend their time cooking? So what do you do when you become old enough to move out on your own where your parents aren’t cooking for you? Well, you only eat quick meals. Quick and easy sandwiches all you have to do is just unwrap them, slap them together and bam, you have a meal. Those Salsberry Steaks, takeoff the wrapper put them in the microwave and Bam! Food.

It sounds like a great life. Never having to cook your own food, just ordering out all the time and if not ordering out you’re always eating quick meals. But this all comes to a slow realization that this is not healthy. But dang it you can’t cook your own food so you’ll just have to learn slowly.

Research online or watch cooking shows on the TV until you reach level seven of cooking. Once reaching level seven of the cooking skill then that is when you will venture into making your own food for the first time. How will it go? Well you have to start making food for you to know ;)

Traits: Foodie, Glutton

Aspiration: Inner Peace

Career: Writer

Location: Anywhere

Goals/Requirements:

○ Max the Cooking, Mixology, & Baking skills

○ Must reach level seven of the Cooking skill in order to cook a meal

○ Must reach level seven of the Baking skill in order to bake

○ Loves to dress casually

○ Once you max out the cooking skill, buy the chef’s station

○ Complete your aspiration

○ Reach level ten of the Writer career

○ Have at least one child

Optional:

○ Make three excellent meals on the chef’s station

○ Simstagram each new meal you make

Generation 9 ⚘ Pro Gamer

Your parents had high hopes for you. They want you to be a doctor, a lawyer, a scientist if you will. The immense pressure your parents put you through just stresses you out so much. This is not what you envisioned it would be. Your dreams and your passion is to win. Win in video games.

Ever since your dumb cousin taught you what video games were, you became obsessed. You play it every day after school, video games just consumed you. There was no time for chores. But you’re not just a regular shmegular gamer girl/boy. You are going to go pro. You can feel it in your bones. So you set on a journey to win at least three of the gaming contests at Geekcon.

This is how you plan to show the world that the next pro gamer is on the rise.

Traits: Geek, Loner

Aspiration: Computer Whiz

Career: Tech Guru (Esports Gamer Branch)

Location: Anywhere

Goals/Requirements:

○ Max the Video Gaming & Logic skills

○ Reach level ten of the Tech Guru (Esports Gamer Branch)

○ Start off with a cheap computer and with the money you earn from winning the contests at Geekcon, buy a better one

○ Live in a dingy apartment or your mom’s basement

○ Become good friends with three sims you play online games with

○ Complete your aspirtation

○ Livestream at least five times

○ Have at least two kids

○ Win three gaming contests at Geekcon

○ Only marry someone who is a Geek/Gamer

○ Become a Global Superstar Celebrity level

Generation 10 ⚘ Back to Where it all Began

Music comes to you whenever you’re inpsired. Yet, why was that so hard to achieve when you lived in the city? Not long after you failed to write any music or become inspried, you almost want to give up. But that was when an ad for Sulani pops up on the computer. This was a place for inner peace. The place for inspirtation. You move to Sulani. The fresh hot sand digging between your toes and the warmth of the sun that embraces you. The sweet salty smell of the ocean just hits you right as you wake up every morning. You hear locals around saying how great Sulani is for exercising and clearing one’s mind. The locals recommend fishing, swimming, biking all of those things just so that you could be one with nature.

The melodies and lyrics just come to you. Pick up your guitar, piano, or violin and begin to write your masterpieces when you become inspired. Journal and write down your thoughts daily. Create blogs about your time on the islands and let the peace embrace you.

Traits: Loves Outdoors, Child of the Ocean, Music Lover

Aspiration: Musical Genius

Career: Entertainer (Musician Branch)

Location: Sulani

Goals/Requirements:

○ Max the Fitness, Wellness, & any instrument skills

○ Have/adopt one child

○ Loves to dress in beach attire

○ Favorite color is purple

○ Write in journal/blog daily

○ Write music ONLY when inspired

○ Have three close friends

○ Complete your asipiration

Optional:

○ Max all instrument skills

○ Move back into the same house your sims renovated in Generation One

How could this game take Sulani away from me -- and so soon after Andre?!

Damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What the hell is going on????? This is like when I had to force Taro to pass away (as an Elder) and then his daughter Sunny passed away out of nowhere. She was like on Day 4 of being an Adult.

I don't understand...

Korina almost was burned to death... TWICE. It happened just after I finished building her a home (her first home ever!). Do you know how mental I was both times?

*lights another cigarette* 🚬🚬

That first fire I thought was gonna get her and all four cats. It came out of NOWHERE and no I don't have mods for intense fires.

The last time a fire happened that I nearly couldn't control was when Sulani's first boyfriend burnt to death (no matter how much I tried to save the both of them) -- so that was awhile ago.

I also have a mod for less fires from fire pits so I have no idea what that was about or why her first use of dryer started another one.

But Sulani? Really?! Six children of theirs... Left behind. I'm so bent I told a friend, did them adopting children do this?! And then I'm like no that's nuts don't blame the children, but listen to me... They adopted them before I sent them on vacation where Andre drown... And then as soon as I go into Makoto's house to renovate it (finally), the game alerts me as soon as I clicked "unpause"... That Sulani passed away.

So I'm not saying it's them, but also like think about them. They come into a new home and both parents pass away?

In the story I let some years pass between because the kids are quickly aging up (??? I got them on long life span unless I'm just caught up in other legacy members but damn how fast the time really going?! 👀)

Ugh. I can't even with all of this.

The gang hits the local beach.

Summer: You look like a burnt chicken nugget.

Becca: I didn't ask but thank you so much, Summer.

Mark and Travis grill some fruit in the meantime.

Mark: I know you're WHITE white, man, but you can use at least a little seasoning when you cook.

It's lunch time. Libby and Ophelia are too busy eating each other up visually.

Travis: Those two need to get some rest in since they're definitely going to keep each other up all night, huh?

Summer: That is a very rude and inappropriate thing to say, Travis. I would never.

Listen, this isn't super plot or dialogue heavy stuff. They build sand sculptures, sunbathe, search for seashells. Y'know, typical beach episode behavior.

The couples eventually split off, so Ophelia takes Libby to her favorite spot: the island of Mua Pel'am.

Libby: Are you sure this is safe? The water looks deep out there.

Ophelia: Our energy bars are full, we'll be fine!

Libby trusts Ophelia and allows herself to simply float.

The two weightlessly float in the ocean, any prior stress leaving their bodies as they enjoy the simplicity of this moment, the warm sun, the cool water. They don't even have to worry about drifting away from each other, nature itself brings the two women even closer together.

As the sun sets, the couple wades back to shore.

Libby: Even doing nothing with you is magical.

Ophelia: I think the view helped.

Libby: I prefer this view right here.

Ophelia: Oh my Watcher, quit being such a dork.

Libby: Is this where you grew up? Why would you ever want to leave?

Ophelia: Nah, Gran just retired here a few years ago. I suppose I could have moved here to be closer to her, but there's not many performing opportunities here that wouldn't be cultural appropriation.

Ophelia: My parents and I aren't on good terms, to put things simply. That's why I moved to Willow Creek, and why I'm alone on the family tree. Maybe I'll get into it someday, but right now, I just want to enjoy this moment.

Libby can't argue with that. It's a good moment.

As it darkens, the couple continues to explore the island. They take a break to draw some hearts in the sand.

Ophelia: Aww, you made our hearts connected!

Ophelia: I want to show you my favorite place in all of Sulani.

Libby: I want to see it.

Ophelia guides Libby over to the nearby waterfall. Pure, unfiltered beauty. At this moment, they feel like the only two people in the world.

Maybe it's the rush of the water clouding their senses. Maybe it's the look in each other's eyes impairing their judgement. Maybe it's the fumes from the nearby ocean sludge.

Either way, they know they can't wait long enough to go back to their rental. They need each other now.

Libby: Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Ophelia: OMW, Libby! My first woohoo, in public? And outside?!

Libby: Come on, no one's around! And ask yourself, would you rather lose your woohoo card in some rental bed, or under the stars in your favorite place?

Well, Ophelia clearly didn't need much convincing.

Ophelia: Come on, you go first! This was your idea!

Libby: Gladly.

Ophelia loves learning new things about her girlfriend. Today, she learns that Liberty Lee is a top. A surprise, but a pleasant one, nonetheless.

Ophelia: You okay?

Libby: I'm great. That was-

Ophelia: Amazing. You've got to teach me that thing you did with your tongue. That was insane!

Libby: Not to ick you out, sweetie, but that might have been one of the frogs.

The two end the night with a cheeky skinny dipping hot tub make out sesh, hoping their housemates don't try to join them. They're a little preoccupied, girls.

Evan and Courts didn't answer any message on their phones for a few days, they only took phone calls and when they did they kept them short. They took a few days off to fly to Sulani.

Evan: " My beautiful friends, sorry for the lack of messages but me and Polpettina flew to Sulani, we needed some time away and just for ourselves" The couple was lying in bed after a day out and rejoicing for the cooler temperature and lack of mosquitoes (always be blessed the mosquitoes repellent). "We just took a few pics this morning, before going to the beach so here is the first"

Courts: "It's my fault, I needed to be away from everyone for a bit and just be with Evan." Courts started reading Juju's message. "@Juju you beautiful human, don't you ever say you look trash! I will tell you everyday you are gorgeous, I will send you a message every morning if I have to! We totally understand what you mean about you and Izzy 😳"

Evan: " I always make Courts legs weak before she can do anything 🤭 Oh I don't need any pic to held me accountable to my promises😜 She will blush if you touch her ass especially if she isn't expecting it, she is the cutest when she blushes. OMG your mom looks stunning! You also look very alike O_O"

Courtney: "There is nothing sexier than your partner sweaty and doing some manual labor, @Juju you must be happy Izzy is so sweet helping your dad building a tree house for Conrad. I want a tree house too!"

Evan: " We don't have a tree where we can build it but I can do something else to get sweaty and sexy."

Courtney lightly kicked Evan, knowing exactly what he meant; in response he held his hands up feigning innocence.

Courtney: " We aren't trying to seduce anyone Rafa, we are just naturally sexy and the twins are the sweetest, I don't understand why they aren't with you or Evan, I will ask next time."

Evan: "That manly man does things to me Maddie, that hairy chest 🤤"

Courts chuckled and stopped to talk to Evan "Bestio, don't you think you are taking it a bit too far with Rafa?"

Evan: "Rafa is a really good friend of mine, he is up there with Hermes. He knows me and he knows it is all just a joke although he gets a bit worked up when I talk about his ass. I really really respect him you know, I told him many times but I feel I should tell him again. I hope to see him and Maddie soon. I really miss him."

rating sims 4 expansions

hey all!!! i’m gonna be rating the sims 4 expansions i have and telling you whether i think they’re worth it! these are in chronological order.

Get To Work

rating: 8.5/10

get to work is def a must have pack for me. i don’t really use the careers like doctor, detective, scientist but the aspect of making your own business offers SO much gameplay and is just a huge blast. i just wish that they had the option of live-in business without mods and aliens left more to be desired. also not a huge magnolia promenade fan, but still love this pack. def one of the best packs to buy as your first.

Get Together

rating: 8/10

this was pretty strong for the second pack ts4 released. there isn’t a huge amount of gameplay here but i do really enjoy the clubs because that way i can create my own friend groups or support groups for sims which adds to story a lot. also one of the best worlds ever and the build/buy is pretty good too. another good one for a first pack.

City Living

rating: 9/10

listen, i think as simmers we can all agree that city living is one of the best packs ever. it’s really unique in terms of living spaces and i think having the option to move your sim to an apartment offers a lot for storylines. the only reason it doesn’t get a 10/10 is because there isn’t a lot of gameplay other than unlocking apartments. for that reason i wouldn’t recommend this as a first or second expansion, but regardless one of my favorites.

Cats & Dogs

rating: 7/10

i love being able to give my sims pets! this was actually one of the more recent packs i got so i haven’t had it for very long, but it’s been fun. i’m not a HUGE fan of the vet career but it can be fun for a little while. the only thing that annoys me about this one is how easy it is to take up household slots with pets.

Seasons

rating: 8/10

seasons has a special place in my heart. it’s one of those packs that’s so integrated into my gameplay that sometimes i forget it’s even an expansion. the build/buy stuff is wonderful and holidays can be such a blast if you’re into that. however, it bothers me that this is an expansion since obviously seasons should have been a base game aspect. despite that i love this pack.

Get Famous

rating: 6.5/10

oh, get famous. this was actually the first pack i ever bought. i enjoyed it a lot at the time but now that i have more i see this as one of the weaker packs. it’s not bad by any means and it was fun as my first pack, but for me it’s just not that memorable now. i feel like i don’t really use fame a lot but that’s just due to my own gameplay style! def offers a lot of storylines but i don’t find myself using it a ton. i wish there were more options for child stars.

Island Living

rating: 8.5/10

i feel like this pack is overlooked a lot! i still have a lot of fun with this one. mermaids are such a cool occult despite there not being a ton of special abilities with them. Sulani is just an awesome world to me!!! summer on sulani is my favorite. who doesn’t love an off the grid beach house? as an avid builder, they’re some of my favorites to make.

Discover University

rating: 7/10

i don’t always have my sims go to uni, but when i do i have a lot of fun with it. building dorms is a blast for me (using cheats, ofc). i also love using the basemental drugs mod with university. this is a fun expansion but def not for everyone. i just wish there were more interactions for teachers/classes instead of the rabbit hole. also secret societies could have been so cool if they’d been more elaborate so that takes my rating down a bit.

Snowy Escape

rating: 5/10

this might be controversial. sorry to anyone that’s a huge fan of this one. skiiing and snowboarding are fun but there’s just not enough gameplay to make this pack worth it to me. the build/buy is pretty cool but i could totally play without this pack to be honest. i see this one as kind of an opposite to island living but it doesn’t match up to the level that island living is on for me.

Cottage Living

rating: 10/10

my all time favorite pack. i think it’s genuinely so fun for my sims to run a farm and Henford-on-Bagley is so quaint. this pack totally lived up to my expectations and exceeded them! it’s not a great first expansion pack but one i would totally recommend it!

High School Years

rating: 7.5/10

This is the last one i have since i’m missing Eco and Growing Together. nostalgia definitely plays a factor in my opinion on this one since it was such a nostalgic time in my life when this came out! i know this pack got a lot of hate (which i feel like is a typical response from the community) but the build/buy is so good and it’s nice to have the option to go to school. i wish the cheer/sports team matches were better though and the default school is so bad. still a fun pack to me and i’m glad i have it since i think it adds a lot for teen sims.

Sweet holidays indeed! After bathing Raven and enjoying a hearty breakfast, the group heads to one of Sulani’s stunning beaches. Harper and Queenie recline on sun loungers, soaking up the warmth, while Raven happily digs into the soft sand, her giggles blending with the gentle sound of the waves.

Alden and Alexander take to the water on their rented jet skis, the sun sparkling on the waves. Alden, ever the daredevil, speeds and weaves through the water with wild turns, while Alexander takes a steadier, more cautious approach.

Raven is in her element on the beach, her tiny hands patting down wet sand as she builds figures. She giggles as the waves come close, challenging her creation, and soon enough, her sandy hands are shaping all sorts of figures with pure delight.

“Oh my Watcher, Alden!” Harper yells, laughter bubbling from her as he lifts her effortlessly. “Don’t let me fall!”

“Never, Red,” he promises with a crooked grin, his grip firm and steady. “By the way, did you flash that new ring to Queenie yet? We’ve got to tie the knot before she beats us to it.”

“I think we’ve got the upper hand, Blackwood. You did propose first.”

“Then let’s not waste time. I can’t wait to make you my wife, Harper. And…” He hesitates, his voice dropping. “I want to adopt Raven. I want to make it official. Be the dad she deserves.”

Harper’s breath catches as she searches his face, her heart swelling. “Alden…”

Just my Tsubasa Chronicle sims enjoying themselves in Sulani, my favorite place to put them since TWC. (plus bonus birdies on the porch)

Look how well Kurogane and Mokona get along. They even mimic each other. I swear the game makes Mokona follow Kurogane more than anyone else. She gets little thought bubbles with his face and no one else's. Such favoritism.

First some nonsense.

A lot of drinks look exactly the same despite having different names, I know that. But these two not only look the same, their names are almost identical! Also, parental punch?? What is that????

Gotta love townie names. whuuut

My game is so fucked. I did a repair, so we'll see if that helped at all next time I play.

Most annoying things right now are:

My sims in one family were ALL afraid of the dark. I used cheats to get rid of it, nada, came back later. Then the scared moodlet started just sticking around during the day. Its timer would just... reset! so they were terrified of the dark in broad daylight. I ended up turning Wants/Fears off altogether. I don't really use them, but I did like having them on, because it offered some variety to the kinds of moodlets sims would get. But it's just as buggy as Lifestyles and became unplayable.

HOWEVER...! Despite turning off wants/fears, MY SIMS STAYED SCARED. The moodlet is now just ever present. Nothing has worked. No rebooting, no resetting, no switching households, no cheats... Can only cross my fingers that the repair did some magic because seriously what the hell.

This next one has been going on for a VERY long time. My sims constantly complain about their path being blocked even when there's nothing blocking them. Ex, a sim upgraded the tea pot. Another sim went to make tea... and started whining that he was blocked. NOTHING about the tea pot or the room had changed. I literally have no idea what's going on there.

HOWEVER... I think it has something to do with my game mysteriously deciding of its own damn will that Sims are only allowed to do kitchen stuff on CORNER counters. They can't use big empty counters with no clutter. They definitely can't use end pieces. The sims will only prep for cooking in corner counter space, and if there's any object there, functional or otherwise, it doesn't work. It doesn't matter if there are other clear spaces around.

DESPITE THAT, sometimes my Sims DO cook on the big counters... but only if there is a SINK ON IT. They'll cook on the counter if it's being used as a SINK. WHAT.

The "only cook on corner counters" thing is really obnoxious because just how many corner pieces can you fit in one kitchen for heaven's sake?

I know this is a bug and surely not affecting everyone. When I watch builds on Youtube, I see the builders make their Sims try different actions to make sure they still work after the builder has downsized a counter and put a table over it, or downsized the cow farm and built a nicer stable around it, or made a bathroom with all the works that is only 1x3. They check and their sims can use everything fine. But then they mention in the next video that they got comments from players who downloaded the build that those objects didn't function, even though they tested it. Yep so some games have just decided "no" to move objects cheat. At least to keeping functionality when it's used at least. Many tricks that used to work for me don't anymore. I used to downsize the tent and put the non-functioning Get Famous one over it because I like its rustic look. My sims would still use the tent just fine. Now they don't. Nothing has changed about how the tent is placed. The first time it happened, I deleted and replaced the functional tent, and that fixed it for a while. Then it stopped working again, and hasn't since.

Sims has upped the prices for the games in Japan and I know it's because the yen is so weak right now but goooooosh. I can't afford that. geez. At least I'm pretty fed up with how broken Sims 4 is right now... hopefully I'll be able to resist buying the expansion coming out in July, at least until Black Friday or some other sale. Will still be annoying to buy a pack at a "discount" which is the same or maybe still higher than what I would have paid for it brand new before. Nothing to be done about it though. No idea when, if ever, the yen will strengthen, and in the meantime it's crappy for me in a lot of ways much worse than not being able to buy a Sims game.

As the vacation in Sulani were soon coming to an end, the group went to the beach again, this time a different one, and with Jay on top of that. The Crosdale sisters had been meaning to show it to the roommates for a while, but it’s at around a 30 minutes drive while their local beach is only a five minutes walk. That beach is way less popular by virtue of being isolated, it’s usually where the locals go to get away from tourists. And this beach also had low-poly birds! Low poly chickens in fact! While most of the group was swimming, Akva, Rudi, June and Jay were building sandcastles.

Jay: By the way, got an idea on who’s going to adopt the baby? June: Really? Out of all the time you could have talked about that in the last week, you picked now? Cause I mean, you’re a mermaid, Jay’s a merman, your baby will be a mermaid. And raising occult children is a unique challenge most humans aren’t prepared for. For example, my dad was a human and like, I love my dad, miss him so much and may his memory be a blessing but...It’s obvious he wasn’t prepared to raise three little werewolves. That’s when Akva looked up and she saw her, in the distance, taking some nice Instaworthy Selfies™ with her husband. It was her. Paisley Cox.

June: Holy shit!!!! Jay: You told me she’s Italian. Like her name doesn’t sound that Italian to me. In fact it doesn’t sound Italian at all. June: That’s because she took her husband’s surname, Damian Cox. Who is fun fact the son of the popular 90s rapper 2D-Maks. Her maiden name is Cucci. Jay: BITCH WENT FROM CUCCI TO COX??? Rudi: Trans men be like.

Well, as if she had forgotten any common sense, Akva ran (as best as she could) towards Paisley. She might have blocked her on Instagram, but she can’t block her in real life...Well, you can technically, it’s called a restraining order, but you can’t just click on a button and automatically get one.

Akva: Ok, ma’am, you’re going to think I’m crazy. But hello, I’m the teenager...Well, I’m 20 now, but I’m the teenage girl who suggested you could adopt my baby, remember me? My username is GuyanasTurquoise. And the offer is still open. Paisley: Stop it, this is creepy! Did you stalk me to find me here? Jay: Well if you didn’t want to get stalked you shouldn’t disclose publicly that you’re currently on an island with a population of around 100,000 which you can drive the entire coastline in barely three hours. June: Great point Sanjayson, indeed sometime people are reckless with online safety. But could you formulate it in an even more victim-blamy way next time? Akva: I am serious. Y-You sound like a great mom, you’re clearly passionate over having children one day and I saw your videos of you taking care of your nieces and nephews. And how you’re looking into fertility treatment or surrogacy, and unlike me, you have loads of money, well more than enough to raise a child. P-Please, a-a-a-as long as you keep me updated on my child’s life and I get to see them ever once in a while, I’ll give it to you. Once we’re back in the US, I can even make the first move and contact the adoption agency. I’m not even saying it as a fan of you, I just think you’d make a great mom and it sucks you can’t have children while I ended up knocked up without even trying. Paisley: ...Look sweetheart, this is a huge decision for both you and me. I’ll think about it. Akva: Just don’t forget to tell me your answer, even if it’s negative. So in that case, I can just move on and start searching for another family. The official way this time though. Paisley: See, it’s not that hard.

Usually, when someone says they’ll “think about it”, it means a no. But who knows, maybe this time it’ll be a yes and Paisley will adopt Akva’s baby. Only the future will tell.

After dinner, we arrived at home, and a feeling of calm and relief met me at the door. As I said before, all I ever wanted to do was have children. I have them, and now they're back in my home. Despite my life falling apart, having them back makes my life feel oddly complete and makes sense. I don't have to look at Luca's toy on the coffee table and cry because I miss him. I can return it to him because he's upstairs where he belongs. I tucked my children into their beds and went to sleep with a full heart. This weekend, I'll take everything slow and savor every moment as if it were my last.

Family Day couldn't have fallen on a more perfect day. It was the last day of summer, and I intended to close out the season with a bang. My first thought was to take the kids to the pool in downtown Willow Creek, but it rained. But where was it not raining? Sulani! There's more to do at the beach than the pool, anyway.

When we arrived at the beach, Luca and Alessia stood at the entrance, staring at each other. They almost looked like they were communicating telepathically or something. Did they remember the last time we were here? They couldn't; they were so young then. Alessia had just aged up, and I had to explain how death worked for Luca after his birthday. There's no way they remember losing their precious Gammy. They were probably just doing sibling things—having a staring contest or whatever. It took them a few minutes to come out of whatever trance they were in, but afterward they were happy as clams and I was glad. I didn't want them burdened by sour memories on our exciting day out.

My children differ from me when I was their age. I was so attached to Mommy and still had a good case of stranger danger, you'd never catch me walking up to random strangers and striking up conversations. Heh, Mommy probably wouldn't let me do it, anyway. But that's exactly what my children do. I think it's great. I want them to be fearless and go after what they want. Be a thousand times better than me.

Last time we were at this beach, I barely had time to relax. I was so busy running behind my toddlers, keeping them entertained, fed, and out of water deeper than their knees. But not this time. They can swim and feed themselves now. I don't need to hover over them like my mom did. I think a little freedom is good for them. So I found a floating lounge chair and got me a sweet tan!

I watched the kids build a sand creature while I lounged and noticed Luca glancing at me now and then. Was he making sure I didn't swim away and leave them? Making sure I was still alive and not taken under by sirens? Whatever it was, it was cute, and I appreciated his concern. I waved at him just in case it was a wellness check. Tee hee hee.

Welcome, Simmers! A relaxing getaway sure sounds nice right about now. We’re inviting you to take a trip with your Sims to your favorite destination with the newly added ability to vacation anywhere within The Sims 4! Here at Maxis, we’ll be hitting the slopes of Mt. Komorebi with the release of The Sims 4 Snowy Escape in just a few short days. Curious how it works? Read on! We’ve got a big haul of new features and requested fixes in this major update to The Sims 4.

NEW & IMPROVED FEATURES Platforms

Platforms enable you to build rooms at varying heights within a story level. As much as we’d love to sit here and go on and on about how incredible platforms are and how they completely revolutionize Build Mode, you’ll see that for yourself as soon as you try them out in-game! Here are some basics for how they function and how you start building with them.

You either can use the new

Platform Tool

directly in or you can place preset platforms that come in various shapes and sizes. You’ll find both of these within the “Walls and Empty Rooms” section of Build Mode.

You easily can add or adjust the height of a platform in any room. Simply click on a room to select it, and the new up & down arrows in the widget that appears will allow you to add or adjust the height of a platform within that space.

Because platforms can have their height adjusted up or down, you can even create platforms that sink down beneath ground… like, really,

really

deep down. I don’t know why anyone would want to do that *

*, but the option’s there! This ability to go deep is reserved for the ground level and basements.

You can stack platforms on top of platforms, on top of platforms, on top of platforms, on top of platforms, on top of platforms… Seriously, go nuts. Get creative. Make something nobody has ever seen in The Sims before!... On top of platforms…

When a platform’s height is a single step higher or lower than the adjacent floor, Sims are able to step onto it. For anything higher than a single step, connecting a set of stairs or a ladder between the different surfaces will allow Sims to reach them. Here’s your first advanced lesson in platforming: Remember that callout about stacking platforms on top of each other? If each stacked platform is a single step in height, you could certainly make some interesting custom staircases…

One notable exception - platforms can’t connect across multiple levels. If you build a stack of platforms all the way to the ceiling, the very last step will need to be a staircase or ladder to connect two separate floors of a building together.

Platforms can be utilized as fully functional space or be purely decorative areas - the choice is yours! As you adjust the height of a platform, your Sims will intelligently adapt to that space. For example, you could create a platform with only enough head clearance for a child to enter. The possibilities are endless!

The visual look of platforms can be customized in a variety of ways. The “Walls and Empty Rooms” section of Build Mode now has a “Platform Trims” subcategory. Here you’ll find trims that match all of our foundations as well as some new trims with basic materials that look perfect in the interior of a building. Want to go even further? Try wrapping the edge of a platform with half walls and then customize the edge with any wall material. Mix and match these methods for creative results!

Even More Half-Walls

Speaking of Half-Walls, we’re pleased to share that we’ve created 12 additional Half-Wall heights to choose from, adding to the 7 heights previously available. One could factually say this is our most sizable Half-Wall update ever! Pity the poor person who was tasked with writing uniquely descriptive names for each of these 19 height variations.

Sentiments

Sentiments are those special fuzzy feelings that form between Sims when they share a memorable moment together. Shared experiences between Sims now offer the opportunity for Sims to develop long-lasting sentiments between each other, which in turn affects how they feel and act in the presence of (or the absence of) another particular Sim. Unlike relationships between Sims, Sentiments can be a one-sided affair. When two or more Sims share an experience together, you may find that all, some, or none of them walk away from that moment having formed a lasting impression of the other Sims that were involved. The base game includes a wide variety of these Sentiments and Snowy Escape has additional ones tied to experiences within that pack.

Sentiments that have formed between Sims can be viewed in two locations. When socializing with another Sim, click on the heart-covered notebook that appears in the social UI at the top of your screen. Alternatively, you can view the Sentiments that exist between two Sims at any time within the new Sim Profile within the Relationship Panel. Read on for more information on this new Sim Profile ...

! Within the Relationship Panel, you can now click on the portrait of any Sim and select “Open Sim Profile” for a full breakdown of all the info the active Sim knows about that Sim. It even includes those nifty new Sentiments everyone’s been talking about!

Skin Tone Update Console & Community Identified Issues

We saw your feedback about the October skin tones update and, to improve clarity and transparency, we shared a first look on Twitter of the fix in progress.

With this patch, the Console game gets the October fixes for texture compression, resolving the banding on the cheeks and foreheads as well as discoloration on the tip of the nose.

In addition, this patch addresses the two community-identified issues of red dots around the lips and a dark blotch between the eyes. The red dots around the lips should be completely resolved at this time. The dark blotch between the eyes was softened to remove the hard edge, but the darkening is expected as part of the shadowing around the nose.

Vacation Anywhere

Couldn’t we all use a good vacation right about now? Your Sims certainly could, and now they can go anywhere! The ability to go on a vacation to any of your worlds has been added to the game for all players along with the “Rental” lot type.

To vacation to a world, a rental lot must exist within it. Should you purchase Snowy Escape, you’ll find the residential world of Mt. Komorebi includes some pre-built rental lots - a ready getaway awaiting your Sims. If you prefer to vacation in another world (Sulani, anyone?), you’ll first need to enter Manage Worlds mode and update at least one of the lots within the desired world to become a rental lot.

During a vacation, if your Sims are lacking any necessities, they now can “Order Supplies Now” from the rental’s mailbox or from their phone. Happy travels!

Toddler Slippers

We figured it’d be nice to give toddlers a pair of slippers to wear. So we did. Cozy feet!

S-Pop Radio Station

You may remember S-Pop (short for “Sim-Pop”) as a radio station in the City Living expansion pack. While the music tracks that originally came with that station will remain exclusive to City Living, the station itself is now available for all players with five new songs for all players to enjoy:

The Sims 4

Freelancer Sims now can complete Gigs they have signed up for and harvest the fruits of their labor. Simoleons, Simoleons, Simoooleons… SIMOOOLEOOONS.

Does your Sim look bored all the time? Even when you think they are having fun, they look bored to you? Not a problem anymore. It’s been… taken care of.

Calls Dropping? Is your Cell Phone behaving like a certain network is just not up to snuff? We have upgraded all Sims to Simgular - Llama’s Choice Network that does not allow Off-the-Grid shenanigans when your Sims are not Off-the-Grid.

The NanoCan Touchless Trash Can has been recalled and fixed so now all your trash can be cash in a flash.

Did you ever experience the Honey I Shrunk the Basil and Sage Plants issue in-game? No longer! *No Sage or Basil Plants were harmed in the fixing of this issue*.

Ever had Sims show up looking like a product of a bad makeover? Did your Debate Judge just show up to the debate wearing a mascot hat when they're not the mascot? Did your fellow Spellcasters show up in the Magic Realm wearing not so magical clothes? Say no more… We have applied a fix so that non-playable Sims can be a bit more appropriately coordinated in their outfits and per occasion.

Door lock settings now persist when Sims travel. That’s right! If I disallow everybody, it should stay that way when I travel… or when I exit the game… and the occasional restart, too... hmpf!

Sims who have passed away no longer sometimes disappear from their Genealogy. This is not retroactive, so any Sims that already disappeared will not return.

Sims no longer ignore the kitchen sink and dishwasher to wash their dishes in the bathroom sink. Okay.

Oasis Springs’ World Map now shows lots in the correct locations. I see you, Yuma Heights - don’t be sneaky now.

Sims now can propose to their beloved without rejection (congratulations!). On the same note, Sims with multiple romantic partners now can propose and marry one of them and not get sabotaged by their partners’ predicament of not being able to get married because they are employed together, even when they are not.

Sims who have finished their workday now get back to things sooner instead of sometimes staring off into space.

Ever wished your delicious food just never… ended? We thought we did until our Sims were unable to finish their meals. Now they are able to finish Eating Leftovers. They are leftovers, not leftFOREVERS.

Sims sharing double beds now can Nap or Sleep in any combination. Sim A can nap and Sim B can Sleep… or Sim A can Sleep and Sim B can nap… or they can both Sleep… or nap… well, you get the picture.

Shower Tubs now can be cleaned enough to be visibly squeaky-clean.

Another one bites the dust. The issue that generated Error Code: 110:c875d8ff on game load has been fixed.

Style Influencer Sims now perform Quick Sketch Impression without breaking the Digital Sketchpad. Be kind with your tools and toys.

Removed incorrect Moodlets such as “Awkward Hug” when Unflirty Sims hugged kids. In the same fashion, we made sure Unflirty Sims no longer receive the “Witnessed Crass Act” Moodlet when parents and children hug or kiss cheeks.

Adult Sims now Teach Blocks to their Toddlers. Learning in early life is important!

Sims on vacation now can hire a Nanny and/or a Butler to take care of things while they are away.

Toddlers no longer will show as “At Daycare” when they are taken back home via the “Care for Self” option. No Toddler clones here... you can’t be two places at once!

Toddlers left at home while the rest of the household goes on Vacation now receive proper care and otherwise can join the Vacation. THINK OF THE CHILDREN. Toddlers deserve fun and relaxation in new places, too!

Toddlers no longer get the “Silly Ocean” Moodlet from playing in rivers.

Children once again can earn Adult skills. *sniff* They grow up so fast!

Simmers in social events now get a warning when switching to a Sim in another neighborhood rather than the event cancelling automatically.

Sims with enough Simoleons now can move into empty lots.

Splitting households and then moving no longer causes an infinite load.

We told Sims that they should probably not take 45 minutes to drink a single cup of Coffee. As you guys know, I am a coffee fiend, but nursing the same cup for that long is not in the coffee lover’s manual for enjoying fresh coffee.

We met with our wonderful Sim Firefighters and came to the agreement that they now also will extinguish fires on wall objects such as paintings.

Action progress bars no longer are interrupted when a new action is added to a Sim's queue.

Sometimes items could disappear from your Sim's inventory after travelling. This should no longer happen. Where is my cup of coffee? Oh, okay, it is here….

Sims no longer have Clay Blobs, Future Cubes, and/or Sketch Pads spawn infinitely in their Inventory. This felt like grabbing something out of Felix the Cat’s bag… just a never-ending bag of Clay Blobs, Future Cubes, and Sketch Pads… what did it all mean!? We may never know.

Opening a stack of Inventory items and then going back now highlights the correct item.

In reviewing items in Inventory, we realized that some item stacks were showing the number 99+ incorrectly on Multiselect. What’s the number? - Stomp, Stomp! - What’s the number? - Stomp, Stomp! - The number of the day… you’re about to see the number is the actual number of items you have! Ah ha ha. That’s the number of the day!

Sims no longer endlessly play games such as Chess, Sabacc (if you own Journey to Batuu), Voidcritter Cards (if you own Kids Stuff), and your regular Card games. I could play with Meduso forever though… #Meduso4ever.

Page Up/Page Down and Home/End Keys now work in Free Cam Mode.

The Aspiration Panel now shows the gender of Sims regardless of whether they are active.

Now only Gardeners autonomously remove wild plants. Sims with Green Fiend Trait (if you own Eco Lifestyle) were being a bit overly eager in removing plants everywhere, so the professionals will handle it from now on.

“Listen To Together” on a Stereo no longer resets Sims.

Sims no longer get “Poorly Decorated” and “Dismally Decorated” Moodlets when decorations are in the room. This applies to new Saves as it is not retroactive, but, my, how judgemental Lots were….

Columns now can rotate 45 degrees and in Free Rotation. Spin them right round, Simmers, right round.

The liveeditobjects cheat no longer surfaces items with broken thumbnails that were not meant to be part of that cheat. Pardon our dust.

Shower descriptions in the catalog said they were “Uncomfortable.” Showers are meant to relax and be a place of meditation, so the catalog now says they provide “Discomfort Relief” unless the specific shower really is uncomfortable.

The Subtle Saucer and the Super Subtle Saucer now have images that are more distinct from each other in the catalog. Super Subtle, Super Saucer.

Removed the “Player Feats” door because it wasn’t really a door…

Dishwashers The Professional Dish Laborer, Washer Pro Free-Standing Dishwasher (from Dine Out), and Industrial Dishwasher Unit (from Parenthood) no longer have a gap between counters.

Digital World wall tiles have been polished. Shiny and new!

Career-unlockable outfits no longer show up when filtering for Custom Content.

Toddlers no longer have bald spots when zoomed out on Low Graphics Settings.

Frayed jean ymBottom_EF13JeansFrayedCrop_Black no longer clips with several tops.

Anniversary t-shirts yfTop_EF05ShirtTeeAnniversary and ymTop_EF05ShirtTeeAnniversary fit better on more body types.

Sims with certain feminine frames now look better when wearing Pants or Full Body outfits.

Fixed some Create a Sim item backgrounds.

Selecting what you want to do next at the end of the tutorial on console no longer has the mysterious word "Label" in the background.

Gallery filters no longer cut off some venue type names in some languages. This was particularly egregious for French and Brazilian Portuguese text.

Game fonts got some spiffing up to keep all characters looking their best.

As with every update, the localization team has tweaked, improved, and fixed text across all Packs and previous updates.

To explain a bit further, we created a much more robust set of internal tools that allows us to have greater control over the outfits that the Sims choose to wear in unique situations. We’ve improved a lot of the wacky townie fashion you’ve seen previously (it’s called fashion sweaty - look it up), but if you still see oddities - let us know. It’ll be an easier issue for us to “iron out” moving forward! Together, we can defeat the dreaded eyeball ring.

Get to Work

Scientist Sims placing collected crystals and metals in their Laboratory no longer crash the game. Do you ever science so hard, the simulation crashes?

The “Test Serum” action on a Scientist co-worker no longer causes an error.

Get Together

Stone Frame Window (window1x1_EP02TUDstoneFrame2Tile_set1), Holey Geometry (window1x1_EP02TUDLow_03_2Tile_set1), and King of Diamonds Classical Door (doorSingle2x1_EP02TUDHigh3Tile_set1) now place properly.

Sims in Clubs with a Read rule now finish the books they choose to read. No cheating, my friends.

Wearing their Earbuds (if you own Fitness Stuff) and participating in Club Gatherings no longer causes an error.

Club affiliation on University Housing (if you own Discover University) now persists after entering Build/Buy Mode.

City Living

Ultra Speed now works while Festivals are in progress. Some conspiracy can be said about Festivals wanting Simmers to enjoy them in all their glory… at a normal speed at every speed, but these are just conjectures… yes.

Sims no longer read their mail aloud while conversing with their apartment neighbors. Talk about rude, right?

“Read about Festival” now consistently displays festival information.

Sims from specific San Myshuno neighborhoods now have more variety on their appearance.

Cats and Dogs

Stencils in Create a Sim (Pet) now consistently paint your furry friends without crashing.

Seasons

The holiday tradition New Skill Day now focuses on starting new skills and improving low level skills so skills that are maxed out don’t count.

Toddlers who are inside during a blizzard and in a high chair no longer want to Run Inside, so their caretakers won’t take them out of the chair prematurely. You are safe little one; you are safe.

Now all onions, carrots, mushrooms, potatoes, apples, tomatoes, and growfruits can be planted indoors during freezing weather.

Plants no longer change their quality or evolve on their own after Sims traveling.

Some Outdoor Plants that were stuck in summer/fall now turn brown and lose their flowers when winter starts.

Sims now can book Vacations on the computer during holidays.

Simmers who have disabled Rain and Snow no longer should see them during Mysterious Weather. Mysterious indeed.

Male Sims now wear appropriate shoes when working as a Floral Designer or Botanist.

The beanie hat cuHat_EP05BeaniePom now looks a bit better.

Sims scheduling an event in the Calendar for a Rental Lot no longer end up in a Lot where they have not been greeted.

Get Famous

Stans (“stalker fans”) and Kleptomaniac Sims no longer steal Pet food bowls or Cat litter. I have no words for this one. I have nothing.

Sims with maxed out Atrocious Reputation now maintain their reputation when traveling. Atrocious you shall be forever.

Island Living

Conservationist Sims now Write Conservation Articles at the appropriate career level (level 4). On the same note, the task for Research Conservation now can be completed.

Odd Jobs no longer get stuck in a state where Inventory and Build Mode cannot be accessed.

We had long conversations with Island Celebration Participants and agreed that no random Sims should enter a Sim’s home without permission, barging in as if they owned the place. Excuse you, privacy, and property are a thing, you know?

Discover University

We chatted with the registrar at Britechester University and got them to agree that students should receive class time reminders before class instead of after. You’re welcome. Now, make sure you go on time, alright?

School Spirit Day no longer schedules multiple instances at the same time. But… Did you know it is Spirit Day?

Club gatherings no longer have Sims with their bikes indoors in a disruptive manner.

Sims traveling long distances including stairs now properly walk the stairs and then hop their bikes and they don’t leave their bike behind. You can’t just abandon your bicycle - what about the poor bike’s feelings?

Sims now properly get off bikes while on a slope.

Lawyer Sims now File Court Documents as their tasks dictate at levels after 5. Just because you move up doesn’t mean you stop filing docs.

Students in a different neighborhood from their University now go to school instead of work when choosing “Go to Class” from the Career Panel.

Students now can receive only one merit scholarship per term.

Sims no longer are listed as being at University when they are at home.

The game no longer sometimes freezes when Sims enroll in University. We get that attending University is life-changing, but freezing a game is taking it a bit to extremes.

Students now return to Campuses in their leisure time to cloud gaze and play Soccer in the surrounding areas of Britechester University and Foxbury Institute respectively.

Sims jogging in an Exo-Mech suit no longer get fatigue-related Moodlets.

For Eco Lifestyle Simmers, “Throw Away” and “Compost” now are available on piles of discarded food. The consequences of not having these were especially egregious at University Dorms.

Eco Footprints in Worlds no longer become Neutral when entering Manage Worlds.

We had a chat with Eco Inspectors and they agreed that they should display the correct occupation from now on. And they shall be known as Eco Inspectors… forever.

When You Have A Mean Boss But You’re Planning A Trip To Sulani So You Have To Keep Working There

The day starts out ordinarily enough. Little does Vivian know she’ll end up crying at work today, something she has never done before.

It’s another work day at Newcrest Financial. Mr. Todd, the big boss, is the first to arrive around 6:00 a.m.; Shirley, Vivian’s office manager, gets in at 7:00; Vivian is scheduled for 7:30; and the sales and finance guys start to trickle in around 8:00 if they don’t have any outside appointments in the morning.

Vivian’s usual routine is to stop in the café on the first floor of her office building around seven-ish and have an orange juice. After her juice, she goes upstairs to the office cloak room to take off her coat, uses the restroom, and then gets to her desk about ten minutes early to get settled before her work day officially starts. She usually begins her work duties around 7:25.

Her morning routine allows Vivian to fully wake up and start the day off in a relaxing way. It puts her in a good mood which prepares her to deal with any unpleasantness that Shirley might decide to throw her way.

Today, an unexpected overnight storm, the slushy weather of spring, and some road work that she’s forced to walk around make her commute unusually long. That’s okay, though, because she has that half hour of buffer time. Vivian skips the OJ and the restroom and rushes upstairs.

She arrives at the office and looks up at the clock, happy to see that it’s only 7:31. Made it!

Vivian sits down and opens the the lower desk drawer to put her purse away. Before she can even close the drawer, Shirley starts in.

Shirley: You’re late.

Vivian: (instantly annoyed) No I’m not.

Vivian’s usual mode of coping with a mean boss is to just go along with whatever Shirley says and respond however Shirley expects her to respond, even if that means apologizing for something that’s not her fault. But she’s in no mood today.

Shirley: What time is it?

Vivian sees what Shirley is getting at, but she’s not going to play along.

Vivian: I’m scheduled for the same time every morning.

Shirley: Which is 7:30. And what time is it now?

Vivian doesn’t say anything and stares Shirley down. Shirley, who is used to Vivian’s acquiescence, is caught off guard for a moment and looks confused, but she quickly recovers and presses on.

Shirley: It’s 7:31, not 7:30. You’re late.

Vivian feels her pulse quicken and her cheeks become warm and flushed.

Vivian: I start working early every single day. Are you seriously going to make a big deal out of one minute?

Shirley: (in a calm tone as if explaining something to a child) Nobody asked you to start early; we only ask that you start on time. I’m not making a big deal out of anything, You’re the one who’s making a big deal out of it.

Shirley pauses to see if Vivian has anything else to say. When Vivian remains silent, Shirley adds...

Shirley: If it keeps happening, I’ll have to write you up.

Vivian has heard enough. She slams the drawer shut and walks out of the office. She goes into the restroom, looks in the mirror, and fights back tears. She’s mad at herself for tearing up, and she doesn’t even know why she’s crying anyway. It’s more from frustration and anger than sadness.

Vivian: Sulani, Sulani, Sulani.

Vivian repeats the words to herself like a mantra. She and Manny have been saving up money to go to Sulani in the summer, and she needs this job now more than ever. She closes her eyes, takes a deep breath, and imagines herself on a sunny beach drinking a Sweet-and-Spicy.

A few minutes later, Vivian returns to her desk dry-eyed, feeling calmer but still ticked off.

Shirley: The coffee needs to be...

Vivian: (abruptly) I’m on it!

Vivian begins to make the coffee, and Shirley comes up behind her.

Shirley: I have to warn you, Vivian, if you insist on being unpleasant in your dealings with me or anyone else in this office, I’ll have to write you up for insubordination, too.

Vivian is in disbelief. “She just never quits,” Vivian thinks to herself.

Vivian: (tersely) Duly noted.

Vivian returns her attention to the coffee, ignoring Shirley standing there. Shirley lingers for a moment then returns to her desk.

(AN: I’m not really doing a transition post between Mal and Ruby mostly because I forgot to take the necessary pics, and it’s a bit late now... lol. So anyway, we’re in Ruby’s POV now!)

Wow! I can’t believe that I’m married and finally out of the house! Don’t get me wrong, I love my siblings, but my mom is a bit... much sometimes. It’s so great to have some alone time with Henry! We’ve rented a beach house in Sulani for our honeymoon, and spent most of the first day just lounging on the deck out back!

Unfortunately, we both got an awful sunburn. I’d never been somewhere so sunny before, and completely forgot sunscreen! During our morning bible time, I couldn’t help but laugh at how much I resemble a tomato. Luckily Henry shares my sense of humour. If I’d ever laughed during bible time at home, I’m pretty sure Mom would’ve smacked me with the book!

We’ve been spending a lot of time on our honeymoon just doing silly, fun stuff like building sandcastles and going on the swings. It’s so refreshing to not have anyone to clean up after, or have any laundry to do, or any of that stuff!

My Mom called us a few times (maybe a few too many...) to check in with how everything was going, ask if we were enjoying our alone time (she seemed really interested in that one!), and asked if I’d saved any souls for the Lord while we were here. I said that we were just enjoying our honeymoon, but she reminded me that the Lord calls us all to minister to sinners whenever we can. I told her I’ll mention it to Henry and see what he says.

As you can see, our sunburns did not go away easily! I tried to cover mine up with makeup, but Henry thought it was cute that we had matching burns so I left it. I think I look a bit silly with my skin matching my hair, but Henry looks so handsome! I wonder if our kids will have my hair colour or Henry’s? Mom was always talking about how only three of us twelve kids had dad’s red hair.

Henry loves seafood, so we went to plenty of seafood restaurants while we were there. I’d never tried shrimp before as Mom doesn’t like it, so this was such a treat for me! There were tons of yummy fruit drinks as well (alcohol free!). I loved the Purple Island Punch!

Our last night in Sulani was wonderful! A waiter at the restaurant offered to take this photo of us with the stunning sunset in the background. God’s creation is so beautiful!

(AN: Y’all, these two are actually the cutest. They get so many happy moodlets from hanging out together, more than any other sims couple I’ve had, they autonomously chat together for hours and hug each other - after a few months of Mal and Liam who are never the same room together, this is refreshing!).

NEW & IMPROVED FEATURES

Platforms

You either can use the new Platform Tool directly in or you can place preset platforms that come in various shapes and sizes. You’ll find both of these within the “Walls and Empty Rooms” section of Build Mode.

Because platforms can have their height adjusted up or down, you can even create platforms that sink down beneath ground… like, really, really deep down. I don’t know why anyone would want to do that *cough* devious players *cough*, but the option’s there! This ability to go deep is reserved for the ground level and basements.

One notable exception – platforms can’t connect across multiple levels. If you build a stack of platforms all the way to the ceiling, the very last step will need to be a staircase or ladder to connect two separate floors of a building together.

Platforms can be utilized as fully functional space or be purely decorative areas – the choice is yours! As you adjust the height of a platform, your Sims will intelligently adapt to that space. For example, you could create a platform with only enough head clearance for a child to enter. The possibilities are endless!

Have you ever gone to check out the other Sims in your Sims’ life, only to be greeted with an overwhelmingly large tooltip that extended from the tippy top all the way to the bottom of your screen? We certainly have, and we weren’t happy with it. There has to be a better way! …And there is! Introducing: Sim Profiles! Within the Relationship Panel, you can now click on the portrait of any Sim and select “Open Sim Profile” for a full breakdown of all the info the active Sim knows about that Sim. It even includes those nifty new Sentiments everyone’s been talking about!

Skin Tone Update Console & Community Identified Issues

We saw your feedback about the October skin tones update and, to improve clarity and transparency, we shared a first look on Twitter of the fix in progress.

With this patch, the Console game gets the October fixes for texture compression, resolving the banding on the cheeks and foreheads as well as discoloration on the tip of the nose.

Vacation Anywhere

To vacation to a world, a rental lot must exist within it. Should you purchase Snowy Escape, you’ll find the residential world of Mt. Komorebi includes some pre-built rental lots – a ready getaway awaiting your Sims. If you prefer to vacation in another world (Sulani, anyone?), you’ll first need to enter Manage Worlds mode and update at least one of the lots within the desired world to become a rental lot.

During a vacation, if your Sims are lacking any necessities, they now can “Order Supplies Now” from the rental’s mailbox or from their phone. Happy travels!

Toddler Slippers

We figured it’d be nice to give toddlers a pair of slippers to wear. So we did. Cozy feet!

The Sims 4

Freelancer Sims now can complete Gigs they have signed up for and harvest the fruits of their labor. Simoleons, Simoleons, Simoooleons… SIMOOOLEOOONS.

Does your Sim look bored all the time? Even when you think they are having fun, they look bored to you? Not a problem anymore. It’s been… taken care of.

Calls Dropping? Is your Cell Phone behaving like a certain network is just not up to snuff? We have upgraded all Sims to Simgular – Llama’s Choice Network that does not allow Off-the-Grid shenanigans when your Sims are not Off-the-Grid.

The NanoCan Touchless Trash Can has been recalled and fixed so now all your trash can be cash in a flash.

Did you ever experience the Honey I Shrunk the Basil and Sage Plants issue in-game? No longer! *No Sage or Basil Plants were harmed in the fixing of this issue*.

Ever had Sims show up looking like a product of a bad makeover? Did your Debate Judge just show up to the debate wearing a mascot hat when they’re not the mascot? Did your fellow Spellcasters show up in the Magic Realm wearing not so magical clothes? Say no more… We have applied a fix so that non-playable Sims can be a bit more appropriately coordinated in their outfits and per occasion.

Door lock settings now persist when Sims travel. That’s right! If I disallow everybody, it should stay that way when I travel… or when I exit the game… and the occasional restart, too… hmpf!

Sims who have passed away no longer sometimes disappear from their Genealogy. This is not retroactive, so any Sims that already disappeared will not return.

Sims no longer ignore the kitchen sink and dishwasher to wash their dishes in the bathroom sink. Okay.

Oasis Springs’ World Map now shows lots in the correct locations. I see you, Yuma Heights – don’t be sneaky now.

Sims who have finished their workday now get back to things sooner instead of sometimes staring off into space.

Shower Tubs now can be cleaned enough to be visibly squeaky-clean.

Another one bites the dust. The issue that generated Error Code: 110:c875d8ff on game load has been fixed.

Style Influencer Sims now perform Quick Sketch Impression without breaking the Digital Sketchpad. Be kind with your tools and toys.

Adult Sims now Teach Blocks to their Toddlers. Learning in early life is important!

Sims on vacation now can hire a Nanny and/or a Butler to take care of things while they are away.

Toddlers no longer will show as “At Daycare” when they are taken back home via the “Care for Self” option. No Toddler clones here… you can’t be two places at once!

Toddlers no longer get the “Silly Ocean” Moodlet from playing in rivers.

Children once again can earn Adult skills. *sniff* They grow up so fast!

Simmers in social events now get a warning when switching to a Sim in another neighborhood rather than the event cancelling automatically.

Sims with enough Simoleons now can move into empty lots.

Splitting households and then moving no longer causes an infinite load.

We met with our wonderful Sim Firefighters and came to the agreement that they now also will extinguish fires on wall objects such as paintings.

Action progress bars no longer are interrupted when a new action is added to a Sim’s queue.

Sometimes items could disappear from your Sim’s inventory after travelling. This should no longer happen. Where is my cup of coffee? Oh, okay, it is here….

Opening a stack of Inventory items and then going back now highlights the correct item.

In reviewing items in Inventory, we realized that some item stacks were showing the number 99+ incorrectly on Multiselect. What’s the number? – Stomp, Stomp! – What’s the number? – Stomp, Stomp! – The number of the day… you’re about to see the number is the actual number of items you have! Ah ha ha. That’s the number of the day!

Page Up/Page Down and Home/End Keys now work in Free Cam Mode.

The Aspiration Panel now shows the gender of Sims regardless of whether they are active.

“Listen To Together” on a Stereo no longer resets Sims.

Columns now can rotate 45 degrees and in Free Rotation. Spin them right round, Simmers, right round.

The liveeditobjects cheat no longer surfaces items with broken thumbnails that were not meant to be part of that cheat. Pardon our dust.

The Subtle Saucer and the Super Subtle Saucer now have images that are more distinct from each other in the catalog. Super Subtle, Super Saucer.

Removed the “Player Feats” door because it wasn’t really a door…

Dishwashers The Professional Dish Laborer, Washer Pro Free-Standing Dishwasher (from Dine Out), and Industrial Dishwasher Unit (from Parenthood) no longer have a gap between counters.

Digital World wall tiles have been polished. Shiny and new!

Career-unlockable outfits no longer show up when filtering for Custom Content.

Toddlers no longer have bald spots when zoomed out on Low Graphics Settings.

Frayed jean ymBottom_EF13JeansFrayedCrop_Black no longer clips with several tops.

Anniversary t-shirts yfTop_EF05ShirtTeeAnniversary and ymTop_EF05ShirtTeeAnniversary fit better on more body types.

Sims with certain feminine frames now look better when wearing Pants or Full Body outfits.

Fixed some Create a Sim item backgrounds.

Selecting what you want to do next at the end of the tutorial on console no longer has the mysterious word “Label” in the background.

Gallery filters no longer cut off some venue type names in some languages. This was particularly egregious for French and Brazilian Portuguese text.

Game fonts got some spiffing up to keep all characters looking their best.

As with every update, the localization team has tweaked, improved, and fixed text across all Packs and previous updates.

To explain a bit further, we created a much more robust set of internal tools that allows us to have greater control over the outfits that the Sims choose to wear in unique situations. We’ve improved a lot of the wacky townie fashion you’ve seen previously (it’s called fashion sweaty – look it up), but if you still see oddities – let us know. It’ll be an easier issue for us to “iron out” moving forward! Together, we can defeat the dreaded eyeball ring.
