The Legend of Vox Machina: Rise of the Chroma Conclave (2x01)
We're back!!!! Since I have three of these to review, I'm going to try (and probably fail) to keep each review quick and snappy.
Cons:
I think one of the things about this show is that I want more of it? So I might criticize the pacing of a lot of the episodes, and that's because when the characters do get a moment to breathe and check in with each other, I'm enjoying it so much that I just want more. For this particular installment, I could have used a bit more time there at the end in Whitestone. Cassandra and Keeper Yennen being conveniently right by the Sun Tree when everyone emerged felt like such a blatant way to tighten up the pacing, and everything was moving so fast that we didn't even really have a chance for Keyleth to say hi to the Sun Tree, or for us to check in with Percy a bit more about how it felt to be back home. It's good, don't get me wrong, the details they do choose to include are excellent, I just feel that I haven't been given all the things I'd love to see. If every episode were just five minutes longer, I think it'd be more or less perfect.
Uriel's death felt a little... unceremonious? And honestly I think that's okay, I think it makes sense that it happens fast, and amidst chaos, but it feels odd to me that our main characters don't even seem to know that the Sovereign has been killed. They know Emon is in terrible trouble and that the dragons have taken over, but Uriel's death happened so quickly and never got remarked on again. It's a small thing, I'm sure we'll get more focus on the implications of this when we're back in Emon later down the road.
Pros:
The DRAGONS LOOK SO COOL! I think last season, the animation on Brimscythe was kind of a weak point, something about the mix of the 3-D animation didn't quite gel. I confess I know nothing about how this works, but whatever they've done for the animation of the dragons this time worked wonders. You can really get the sense of the scope; they're huge, and they move so sinisterly, and their voices are so interesting, and they each have their own style and way of dealing damage and personalities already creeping through. Really excited to see more of each of them as we proceed.
The fight and action in this first episode didn't feel like the fun, snappy action in a lot of season one, but I mean that as a good thing; it was very appropriately somber and yet intense all at once. There was no time for big creative fun ideas, no time for a lot of witty banter (although of course Scanlan got in a few quips). The deadliness of this attack is quite apparent from the jump. There are too many moments to highlight here, but a couple favorites would be Allura's bad-ass protection spell (even though it didn't save poor Uriel), Scanlan's horror on learning that the green dragon Raishan has magic as well and can combat his spells, and, of course, because I'm a sucker for these characters protecting each other, I adored Percy throwing Vax out of the way of the acid and getting seriously hurt as a result. Pike heals him as Vax looks on, concerned. That's the good stuff!
I saw someone say they didn't like how the animated series "minimized" Vax and Gilmore's connection, and I happen to feel quite differently. There's a slightly different flavor to it, because in the show I think Liam and Matt were discovering at the table how far they were going to push the idea of this romance, or what the history/potential is between them. Here, they've settled on this deep affection overlayed by fond banter. You get the sense that these two haven't hooked up and might never actually be together, honestly, but it's not a deep angsty pining situation, precisely. It's... sweet. It's the mutual knowledge of something between them that might blossom or it might not, but either way it's precious. I loved Gilmore's ridiculous overdramatic flirting when he's lying there injured, and then you've got his hand on Vax's face, you've got Vax's shout of fear as they're all running for the tree: "Gilmore! Where's Gilmore!" And then in Whitestone, Vax is reluctant to give care over to Yennen at first, until she assures him that she sees how important he is to Vax. It's all great stuff!
So, fans of the original stream know what's coming up for the twins this season. I won't get too into it here, but I did love that there was a moment when Vex and Vax were separated by the madness of the dragon attacks, and their relief at finding each other again. Their connection is one of the brightest and most developed of all the relationships in the show, and we're going to see that teased out a lot this season especially.
It was a joy to see Cassandra again, and despite my complaint above about not having much time to breathe, what we did get I thought worked very well. We see Cassandra immediately pivot to care for all these refugees fleeing from Emon, we see how well she's doing as a leader. There's this moment right at the end when Percy's about to head off with the rest of Vox Machina to continue their bigger adventure, and the two siblings share a nod of understanding. She knows why he has to keep leaving, and he knows exactly what he's asking of her by doing so. Great stuff, very subtle and powerful!
Less subtle but I thought still effective was the scene where Vox Machina sees how their actions in Whitestone inspired the people to rise up and rebuild from the ashes of their catastrophe. People don't need all their battles fought for them, necessarily, but they do need someone to stand up and say they're worth fighting for. Scanlan is the most uncertain and reluctant about taking on this task at first, but he's swayed by the proof of what they've achieved in Whitestone. Scanlan's uncertainty about their place in the world as heroes is something to keep an eye on: lots more is going to develop there.
Before I sign off for this episode I want to say, I love how they've managed to wrangle the different seasons of the show into having sort of... rotating focuses of character growth. Broadly speaking, Percy was the main character of season one, and Pike had her own subplot. Season two, if I had to guess based on what I've seen so far and what I know of the trajectory, will have the twins as sort of our "main characters", with Grog the one with a nice juicy subplot. Leaving season three, I think quite appropriately, to be the Scanlan and Keyleth focus season, as there are longer-term developments for both of them that I think will give them center stage at that point. I don't know if they're thinking about it quite like that, and of course it will always be an ensemble-focused show, but I just love the rhythm of what they're achieving so much.
Okay, onwards to Vasselheim we go!

Robins as Voltron AU
Tempting as it is to make Jason the Shiro analogue for the skunk stripe, Dick is of course the team leader. With Talon!Dick for the clone!Shiro. It works so well. But I'm still handing off some of Shiro's backstory to Jason. Dick pilots the Black Lion, and is team leader.
Jason as the Keith analogue to some degree - but here he's the one who got lost in space and came back a bit different. Dick is, of course, overjoyed that his younger brother is alive! And relatively well! But also their dad (Bruce of course) is still lost in space. Jason's got got that volatile temperament, however, that makes him a good Keith stand in. Jason get to pilot the Red Lion until Dick disappears for the Talon!Clone arc and then Jason bumps up to the Black Lion.
Tim as the Lance analogue. But also kinda more Pidge to be honest. He's the nerdiest of them all but also the one who kind of annoys the others the most because he tries too hard to be what he thinks everyone needs him to be. He's sort of an honorary brother to Dick, Jason, and Damian, but the situation with his parents - which he struggles to admit was abusive because it was 'just neglect' makes things complicated. He pilots Blue Lion until there's a Red Lion opening and the lions kick him upstairs to second in command after Jason.
Stephanie is kind of the Pidge analogue but more the Lance one. She's the most sarcastic wit of the group, extremely annoyed that there is no Purple Lion. Because purple is her color. She's Tim's best friend at the Garrison and she gets dragged into things because she gets nosy when Tim insists on helping Dick and Jason at the start of things. She doesn't really regret coming along, though she wishes she could have said goodbye to her mom first. She pilots the Green Lion.
Damian is nothing like Hunk but he gets to steal some of Keith's backstory so... Talia was a Galran who came to Earth, fell in love with Bruce, and had a kid. Damian. But it turned out she was kind of a princess (think Lotor analogue to some degree) and of course people were sent to collect her. For Bruce and Damian's safety, Talia left. Damian's got no idea he's half Galra until it all comes out. As dramatically as possible.
Duke Thomas is one of the Alteans aboard the castle when the humans arrive with the Blue Lion and he's able to use his connection to the Lions to find the other three (the Black Lion being hidden in the castle). While I'd want to split the Allura and Corran analogues between him and a few others, he's specifically the one who'd take over as Blue Lion when Tim gets reassigned to the Red one.
Honestly this is all I've got for the idea at this point but it'd be a fun fusion story to write if I ever get more inspiration for it.
#kitkatt0430 rambles#batman#voltron legendary defender#fanfiction#fanfic ideas#Damian - I'm heir to the royal house of Galra. I... would like a refund?#Steph - he made a joke i'm so proud#of course if Talia is basically the Lotor analogue then that makes Ra's Zarkon#... it fits surprisingly well :D

Isn't a fight between Lance and Keith kinda boring? It'd be the same as broganes.
That would be part of the point actually, not a deterrent.
A lot of the time in fiction, things happen in sets of threes. Not always, but it’s common enough. If they do fight, it will not only mirror Keith and Shiro, but Zarkon and Alfor as well. Keith and Lance are the only set of Black and Red Paladins left that haven’t fought, and they’ve been sword fights both other times (from the looks of the one with Zarkon and Alfor, and the fact that we know Alfor used a broadsword).
We need to think, why was Lance given his broadsword? It showed up once. Yes, it could have been so that Allura could really start drawing parallels between Lance and her father, but while pacing and skipping over things is a weakness Voltron is known to have, I don’t think that was one of those instances.
So who is Lance going to fight that he needs a sword, and why bother? He’s an amazing shot. Just stand back and shoot. Unless, of course, you don’t want to shoot them. You want to get in close with a way to protect yourself since they’ll be coming at you with a sharp weapon to try and talk them down.
It makes sense. It also adds a very nice touch to the stories of the Red and Black Paladins.
Alfor vs. Zarkon - Zarkon won by killing Alfor, cutting him down. I imagine Alfor would have tried to talk him down, but it didn’t matter.
Keith vs. Shiro - Keith won but in the end it was only due to physically cutting off the arm. He tried to talk him down, and it looked like it worked for a split second.
Lance vs. Keith - Technically, Keith would kick Lance’s ass in a close range fight, but Lance is going to be able to snap him out of him. he’s going to be able to talk him down and they’re both going to survive all limbs in tact.
Keith and Shiro were the in-between point for these other two, and god damn if it wasn’t a terrifyingly beautiful fight. The animation was beyond amazing, the setting was awesome, and the sheer emotional impact? Ugh.
I once said that I thought Honerva would find a way to control Keith, but I’ve since changed my mind. That would be too similar, and I don’t like the idea as much. Instead, I think it’ll be on the Astral Plain.
I already talked about a theory where Lance flies Black temporarily, so since he has that connection, maybe he has to go to the Astral Plain to get Keith back (they have is body, but he’s not waking up, and somehow ended up there to protect himself from Honerva using all his quintessence and killing him or something).
In S7E6, when they were floating in space, some hugely important concepts came up. One was that Lance was truly, genuinely bothered by Keith leaving (and in this case, someone would have taken Keith, since I don’t think he’d go willingly at this point), another was the idea that a lot of them, especially Keith, doesn’t know how to be scared.
Keith, despite being the one to set up the routines to keep them all sane, was the first to give into the space madness because he was terrified and didn’t know how to process that right. So, maybe he doesn’t think that Lance is Lance in this case. Maybe he thinks it’s a trick from Honerva, so he fights to protect himself.
Anyway, this is where they confront both of these things, as well as the walls Keith has up around him. This is where everything starts to change for the better. (And honestly, I picture THIS nonsense happening like, mid-season, not even finale, because they’ve got other shit to do too.)
Once you get these ideas - a different setting, a different motivation, different emotions behind it, you can actually get a very different fight scene that still calls back to the others, but is it’s own thing too.
So no, I don’t think it’s boring or a rehash of the fight between Keith and Shiro. I think it’s the third and final part of a Black-and-Red story.

1~ Y' know I don't care which pairing becomes canon, the show may include romance but it's far from it's main focus, & I LOVE this show. I do care about good writing tho & beautiful relationships romantic & platonic portrayed. So I'm down with anything they write well. I could only see them write A/L or other All. ship as endgame bc most stories we see have forced romance, especially on the girl's side & I think the creators are 2 good for this. It'd be bad writing for her to suddenly like him
2~ out of nowhere. It doesn't make sense. She has spent every moment Lance has flirted thinking of him in a romantic context & her response has always been UGH. She knows Lance by now, his good/bad, real personality from s1ep1 & she is NOT interested. Every single a/l meta I've read says Lance likes her,he was jealous, he wants her, Lance, Lance, what about Allura remember her? If the reasoning for her suddenly liking him is: just cause! then she's miles behind Hunk & Pidge who haven't shown
3~ any dislike of him in romantic context & have liked him for ages & Hunk is his best friend he has much better chances. & she is leagues behind K. ,his "rival shows more interest in him than his love interest in romantic context: holding hands, lookin @ each other intimately, upset t Lance denied him cradling in his arms, forgot himself in battle as he was gawking @ him, jealous, fond looks etc. he is the 1 with the intertwined arc w him & deep moments. Lance in private shows he likes him 2
Yeah this is honestly what I was thinking too. Allura could still develop feelings for Lance, but based on what? She’s never rlly showed that much romantic interest in him, so if she suddenly started liking him would it be bcuz he’s maturing? But either way like you said, she’s seen his good/bad sides, she’s seen the flirtatious Lance and the mature Lance, but she still doesn’t rlly seem to be romantically interested. Rather than this dude’s “rival” who’s been showing clear romantic interest since s1 and Lance is starting to show subtle interest in him too. We’re kinda just immediately susceptible to believe that this m/f will be canon just cuz the guy is showing obvious feelings for the girl, but then theres the m/m pairing that so many ppl doubt even tho one of the guys is literally showing blatant interest in the other, it makes 0 sense

HEY JETPACK ANON AGAIN I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION ok so like how is the gravity in the castle of lions different than earth gravity? bc like it's probably meant to create gravity like altaea, and i feel like altaea's bigger than earth so it'd have a stronger pull, right? do we even know how big altaea is compared to earth? how would that mess with the paladins over time? would it be enough of a difference for them to really notice???
honestly???? i have no idea. should it really be just a little higher than earth it probably wouldn’t make too much of a difference. (feel free to correct me on any point here, i really don’t know much about the human body.)
increased gravity means “increased weight”. you don’t actually weigh more of course but the force that acts upon you would increase so that it would feel as if you’re weighing more. a gravity increase from 1g to 1.1g should be totally doable still. an example: if you weigh 80kg, you’d feel as if you weighed 88kg. totally manageable^^ build up some new muscle and you’re good.
i see the problem with the change of blood pressure. your heart would have to pump more, which means increased blood pressure. if you google that, you’ll see that the effects of long term high blood pressure are… bad. potential vision loss/strokes/kidney, heart, artery damage are some of them. i don’t think that 1.1g would make much of a difference there but it might lead to heart problems when you’re older. same goes for your bones and stuff; arthritis might become a thing earlier than usual.
[intracranial pressure (the pressure on your brain itself) might also a thing that could cause problems. i don’t think that 1.1g would make a difference yet but after a certain point………. yeah. your brain is quite pressure sensitive. you would just black out and die :’D increased headaches might be a thing though? maybe??]
THE GOOD THING IS THAT THE CASTLE IS MAGICAL. Like their lions and their suits. Allura keeps bringing prisoners from all kinds of planets into it without giving it a second thought - whatever causes the gravity in it might be able to adapt to each person’s needs just like the suits do :D Problem solved, who needs physics anyway ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ
#a² (answered ask)#anon#SMKDJFHGDS#^^^^^THAT'S DREAMWORKS SOLUTION TO ALL THEIR PROBLEMS#THE CASTLE 'CAN'T BE EXPLAINED THROUGH SCIENCE ALONE'#fucking rude#here we are thinking up all kinds of possible theories#and no one will listen :'D#funny that you asked this btw#i actually started writing a fic where they were dealing with increased gravity#not sure if it'll ever get published because i currently HATE it#but it exists somewhere :P

Conversation
A voltron Royalty! Au Prompt
This is a conversation between Keith Kogane and yourself, Prince!Lance.
Prince!Lance: Lance sat in the courtyard, lazily swinging a sword about while he watched the knights practice. Occasionally he'd make note of a flaw and jot it down, so he wouldn't make a mistake if he ever had to fight.
Keith Kogane: "Your majesty? What are you doing out here? You know it's not safe to be outside with all of the threats Zarkon has been making." Keith said walking up behind Lance, watching the Prince's sword move swiftly through the air.
Prince!Lance: Lance looked up at the sound of Keith's voice."I wanted to watch. It's too hot inside." He replied, rolling his eyes. These days everyone was ultra protective of him. Keith was at least more lenient than the others. Most of the time anyway.
Keith Kogane: Keith shrugged "I suppose it is hot inside. Mind if I watch with you?" Keith asked hesitantly. He felt bad for Lance, always being locked up in the castle. They treated him like a bird that would fly away if it got out of its cage. "I mean...if you would like, I can go back inside. I don't want to bother you." Keith said quickly.
Prince!Lance: Lance smiled."No, please, stay." He replied, shuffling over and patting the spot beside him. The knights in front of him had yet to say anything. Though Shiro, the head knight, was rather pleased that his younger brother and the prince got along as well as they did.(Lance is so polite in this au, it's kind of funny)
Keith Kogane: Keith nodded and sat next to Lance, making sure not to get too close in case he made the prince uncomfortable. "Why do you like watching the knights so much? This is the fifth time I've found you out here." Keith questioned, watching his older brother train with the rest of the knights. Keith glanced at Lance out of the corner of his eye and smiled.
Prince!Lance: Lance looked back at the nights."Well, honestly for learning purposes. Everyone thinks I'm this sort of dainty little prince who can't defend himself. And since Dad refuses to let me actually learn how to fight properly, I just come out and observe really." He put his sword on his lap."This is honestly more for decoration than actual use."
Keith Kogane: Keith smiled. "Prince Lance. I think it's...cool that you come out here and watch to learn. It shows dedication, and I know your not a 'dainty little prince' but your father doesn't want you to get hurt. I...I don't want you to get hurt either. So, please don't do something stupid, and be careful with your sword. It's pointy." Keith said with a small smirk at the end as he teased the prince. He so badly wanted to help Lance learn to fight but he knew his orders from the king.
Prince!Lance: (Sorry, I was afk) Lance blushed at Keith's words. Though at the end he chuckled."Yeah, I, uh, I guess so." He put the sword down."...I...I don't want to see you get hurt either. I mean, with all that you've already been through, with Zarkon and all, not to mention Shiro, it's kind of easy to worry about you Keith." He said. What he didn't know was that Pidge and Hunk were watching the two of them from Pidge's room, both smiling and wishing they had a way to document this.
Keith Kogane: Keith looked down at his lap and shrugged. "I don't need anyone to worry about me. I can worry about myself. You're a prince, you shouldn't worry about some lowlife like me." Keith said taking a deep breath and looking back up towards Shiro and the rest of the knights.
Prince!Lance: Lance frowned at that."Lowlife? Keith, you do realize where we are right now, right? And the fact that you've literally almost defeated Zarkon, which even Alfor himself couldn't do. And of course I'm gonna worry about you, I worry about all my friends." Lance protested.
Keith Kogane: Friends. Keith hated that word, especially when it comes from Lance. "Right. Well, I think I hear...Hunk? calling for me. If you need anything your majesty, you know where I usually am." Keith muttered, standing up. He nodded at Lance before his shoulders sagged and he began to walk away.
Prince!Lance: Lance blinked. Had he said something wrong? He frowned at that, and sighed. He started drawing in the dirt with his sword, trying to forget the look on Keith's face. Meanwhile, Pidge and Hunk were rushing to meet Keith. The Chef and the princess had been shipping Keith and Lance ever since the long haired boy had been assigned to the prince."What are you doing?!" Hunk stood in front of Keith, Pidge at his side.
Keith Kogane: Keith blinked in surprise at Hunk and Pidge. "What do you mean, 'what are you doing?!' I didn't even do anything!" Keith said in defense as he stepped back at the closeness of the duo.
Prince!Lance: Pidge gently pushed Hunk back."You're supposed to protect my brother, right? Right. You want to also spend time with him because it's obvious you like him, right? Right. So, I suggest you forget about pining for a little while and go do that." Hunk had to butt in. "Just not right now. Since he looks almost as rejected as you at the moment."
Keith Kogane: Keith scoffed. "What! I don't- I don't like Lance. He's a prince. It'd never work out anyways. Plus, he doesn't like me!" Keith said crossing his arms, looking away with a slight blush on his face. "I'm pretty sure he has a thing for that princess he met at the ball a few nights ago anyways...." Keith said with a pout.
Prince!Lance: Pidge and Hunk looked at each other, then back at Keith, then back at each other."He's hopeless." Pidge threw her hands in the air."He's utterly hopeless." She sighed and rubbed her eyes. Hunk looked at Keith."Keith, that princess was Allura, who has specifically expressed disinterest on account of the fact that she's too old for him and has a thing for your brother." He explained."And yes of course he likes you! He's practically shooed everyone else except us away, and he barely talks to us anyway. You're really the only one in the castle he frequently talks to. And don't even try to deny that you don't like him. And I hardly think that Lance would care about the fact that he's a prince."
Keith Kogane: Keith gaped. "Uh...Princess Allura of Altea? Princess Allura has a thing for...for Shiro?! As in Takashi? As in my older brother?" Keith asked with wide eyes. "A-and...Lance probably just has a hard time making friends. I'm constantly with him because I was assigned to guard him, that's the only reason he even talks to me.." Keith said in denial, glancing out to the courtyard where Lance still sat.
Prince!Lance: Now it was Hunk's turn to throw his hands up in the air."Not only is he hopeless, he's also utterly oblivious!" He raked his hands through his hair, and Pidge calmed down."Yes. YEs she does, but that is not important right now. What is important, is that I convinced dad to assign you to him because you two were both pining messes. And Yeah, Lance does have trouble making friends, but he's literally my brother, and has been friends with Hunk since he was 3. So I don't think that has anything to do with it. And he would talk to you outside of duty, except he'd be a blubbering mess otherwise."
Keith Kogane: "I- I don't know how to approach him! I get nervous cause he has pretty eyes and a nice smile! Look at me compared to him! How am I, a literal cheesestick looking Baffoon, supposed to talk to a prince that looks like he's a god? Hmm? Tell me what I'm supposed to do!?" Keith whined adding a lot of dramatic and frantic hand waving and flailing into his speech.
Prince!Lance: Pidge and Hunk facepalmed, and dragged him to Pidge's room. They locked the door and put Keith on the bed."Alright Kogane, listen up, you are not a cheese-stick looking Baffoon, Lance is not a god. He may be a prince but he's not a god. WE can't boost his ego that much." Pidge started." You are going to change out of what you're wearing, put on something relatively nice, comb your hair, wash your face, all that jazz, and you are going to talk to my brother!" She was shaking his shoulders by now, and Hunk had already brought a comb.
Keith Kogane: "Wait, what?! No! What does relatively nice mean? What's wrong with what I'm wearing?" Keith panicked standing up quickly. "Why do I have to wash my face? What's wrong with my hair?"
Prince!Lance: "Relatively nice as in you don't want to look like you dressed up specifically for him or else you'll both become blubbering messes." Hunk replied." And what you're wearing is covered in dust because you sat in the dirt with him. And your hair is always knotted and I finally get to comb it. AS for the face washing, well, it cools down the blush." He grinned as he handed Keith the comb. Pidge was watching with great amusement.
Keith Kogane: Keith looked at the comb in his hand. "....help me pick out an outfit..." He mumbled slightly, a deep red brushing over his cheeks.
Prince!Lance: Pidge chuckled."With pleasure." She stood up."This is the most fun I've had in weeks." She grinned and went to the wardrobe. She mostly preferred shirts and trousers to dresses, so she had a great deal of hand me-downs
Keith Kogane: "Oh good god. Do I have to do this? Can't I just...disappear? Forever? That'd be easier than embarrassing myself in front of Lance." Keith groaned tossing the comb back to Hunk.
Prince!Lance: Hunk caught the comb with ease."Yes, or you'll be pining until Zarkon kills us all." He replied. As of late, that had become a common phrase. It was kind of sad to be honest. "Look, We'll get Lance ready after we get you ready, so you'll both be at the same amount of possible embarrassment." He replied, moving behind Keith and started to comb his hair back. Pidge grinned as she came forward with a red vest, a white shirt and some black pants.
Keith Kogane: (sorry, I got distracted) "what the hell is that Pidge? I'm not wearing that. I'll look...I dunno, I'll look like a monkey!" Keith said crossing his arms, looking away from the princess.
Prince!Lance: (Np :) ) Pidge looked at him."You are literally wearing a dusty, bright red, half jacket. You will not look like a monkey. Trust me, I thought I looked great in them." She flung the outfit onto the bed beside him. Hunk was almost finished with Keith's hair."Pidge, Hair tie." He told her. The princess obliged and passed one. Hunk gently pulled Keith's hair back into a ponytail."Oooooh, it looks so nice.:
Keith Kogane: Keith blushed and glanced down at the outfit Pidge grabbed for himt. "You guys suck." Keith pouted grabbing the outfit. "Give me a minute." Keith sighed, walking into Pidges bathroom. He washed his face and put the outfit on. Keith looked in the mirror and groaned. He picked up his previous outfit and walked out of the bathroom shyly. "Well? You guys happy now?"
Prince!Lance: "WE love you too buddy." Hunk patted his shoulder as he left for the bathroom. The pair of them waited patiently for the boy to come out, and were thoroughly satisfied."Ohhhh my god, oh Keith you look so niiice." Hunk had to refrain from squealing. He felt like a proud parent. Pidge simply gave a a thumbs up."Alright. Part one is complete. Now for part two." She ran out the door."Ohhh Laaaance!" She called out.(Can you be pidge just for a little bit since I"m controlling Lance? Sorry if I'm being annoying)
Keith Kogane: (Sure sure. You're fine) Pidge ran out of the room quickly and ran down to the courtyard where Lance was still sitting. "Lance! Stop sulking, I need you to come with me! I saw that little...whatever it was with Keith and decided I need to help you!" Pidge announced proudly, standing in front of her brother with a large smile on her face.
Prince!Lance: (Thank you :) ) Lance looked up at Pidge, ignoring the quiet snickering coming from the knights."Wait, what are you talking about? Help me out with what exactly? Keith just left. Nothing happened." He replied, sheathing his sword."You're delirious or something sis, from, like, how hot it is inside."
Keith Kogane: "Lance!" Pidge whined. "Everyone knows you have a thing for Keith. I'm gonna help you actually get somewhere with him so the pining stops. Seriously, it's stressful to watch." Pidge said with a smirk. "Now come on. Stand up and let's go."
Prince!Lance: Lance blushed and sputtered"I-I ,wha-wha, I.. I do not!" He protested feebly. "I'm not going anywhere with someone who just said I was stressful to watch!" He exlcaimed, bright red. Shiro walked over."Your majesties, might I help out in this?" He asked Pidge. Lance sputtered again."Wh-wha, no!"
Keith Kogane: "Yes! Please Shiro, please help!" Pidge grinned, sticking her tongue out at Lance. Pidge grabbed Lance's hand and tried to force him to stand up.
Prince!Lance: Shiro went a few steps further and picked Lance up, draping him over his shoulder."Wha, what, what are you doing, put me down, I demand you stop this at once!" Lance pounded against Shiro's back, which did absolutely nothing. Shiro only chuckled and followed Pidge."Alright boys, that's enough for today!" He called to the knights.
Keith Kogane: Pidge smirked and skipped ahead of Shiro and Lance towards Lance's room. "I've decided that your gonna dress up a bit...not too much...and your gonna go find Keith." Pidge said opening Lance's door for Shiro.
Prince!Lance: "And why would I ever to agree to that ever?" Lance replied as Shiro put him down."Because We're all very, very tired of watching you two skirt around each other like squirrels, your highness." He replied with a smirk."So Princess, what's first on the agenda?"
Keith Kogane: Pidge snickered at Shiro's response and cleared her theist slightly. "Right. First up on the agenda is hair. Lancey Lance. I don't know how you do your hair so get into your bathroom and do your damn hair. And your face." Pidge said sternly. "Yeah, go put in your face for Keith."
Prince!Lance: Lance was bright red at this point."I'm not a squirrel." He murmured. He looked up at Pidge."Why would I need to do that, my hair is already fine." He replied. Shrio reached forward and pulled out a leaf."That's why." Lance frowned, his shoulders sagging."And what's wrong with my face?" He asked. Shiro gently pushed his index finger to Lance's cheek."That's why." He pulled away a dust covered finger. Lance groaned and slumped to the bathroom.
Keith Kogane: Pidge smiled up at Shiro. "Thank you Shiro! Honestly though, I'm suprised that your helping." Pidge said plopping into Lance's bed.
Prince!Lance: Shiro shrugged."I meant what I said, My brother is a lot of things, including oblivious and scared. Lance is too and Oretty much everyone in the castle wants them together except your parents." He replied. Lance came out, his hair and face done."Okay, am I presentable now?"
Keith Kogane: Pidge shook her head. "Nope. Clothes. Change. Put on a nice outfit, something that's gonna grab Keith's attention. But not anything to extravagant. Y'know?"
Prince!Lance: Lance looked down at himself."What's wrong with what I'm wearing now?!" He exclaimed. Shiro sighed."Well for one thing, you're still covered in dust, just not in the face, and second, would you ever just wear a shirt and trousers to a date?" He asked. Lance turned bright red at that.".....I don't know what to pick." He admitted sheepishly.
Keith Kogane: Pidge walked to lances closet and scanned it quickly before she grabbed a light blue button up shirt and white dress pants. "Here Lancey. Put these on and roll up the sleeves to your elbow! And keep a few buttons open on the top!" Pidge said holding the outfit out towards Lance. "Take it. Change. Prepare yourself mentally."
Prince!Lance: Lance caught the outfit, utterly embarrassed."I'll prepare you mentally." He mumbled and went back into the bathroom, changing. Shiro smiled at Pidge."Well, this was utterly entertaining. I look forward to hearing the results your highness." He bowed and left the room. After that, Lance walked out of the bathroom and looked at Pidge."There, am I presentable now?"
Keith Kogane: Pidge took a moment to observe Lance. "Mmm....yeah. I think your good! Now stop being so sour! I'm just trying to help you! Now go, go find Keith. I'll see you later Lance~ Have fun!" Pidge said shoving Lance out of his room.
Prince!Lance: Lance reluctantly let himself be pushed. Why was he acting like this, he should be happy, he'd finally have a reason to have a non-protective conversation with Keith. He walked through the halls, already missing the sword, and tried to find his protector, only instead, to run into his father.
Keith Kogane: "Lance. What's with the outfit? Are you going on a date? When will I get to meet her?" Lance's father asked taking a look at Lance's outfit. "My son, whoever she is, she's a lucky one." The king said resting a proud hand on Lances shoulder.
Prince!Lance: Lance tensed a little."Um, y-yeah, I guess you could say that." Lance answered timidly."Th-Thanks dad." He smiled nervously and rushed past his father, darting around the corner. God, his father would probably kill him if he knew he had feelings for another man.

ALSO I just saw this thing saying that only Sh//eiths want Keith to pilot the black lion but honestly??? It'd be really good to see him go through that and struggle, and then admit he struggled so the team can help him and that's the only way I would ever want Keith to pilot the lion otherwise I want it to be Hunk ~day cool anon
i feel like the red lion won’t give keith up that easily honestly, judging by how attached she was to him in s2
also? if it happened in the way it happened in previous series (keith->black, lance ->red, allura ->blue) then it would be bad for lance D:
(think about it, he’s been thinking he’s always in keith’s shadow this whole time)
but? if keith tries to pilot black and can’t do it and admits he can’t and allura/hunk/lance end up doing it/helping him? mmmmmm
(because let’s be honest, every time shiro said “i want you to lead voltron” keith didn’t look too thrilled about that, so i don’t think he really wants to in the first place)
also, keith is the really impulsive one, shown by how he didn’t listen to coran and went straight in to fight zarkon in s1. so i don’t think he’d make the best leader, he’d probably lead them into a lot of danger
