double-tag time lol
got tagged in two different question things by @galactictides52 and @gonturan0 xD gonna fill both of 'em out at the same time I guess haha! thanks for the tags!!
going under a cut because there's quite a lot here haha
tagged by @galactictides52:
Last song I listened to: Follow by Survive Said the Prophet
Favorite content to watch: uhhh.. hm. depends on my mood. I usually gravitate towards let's plays or documentaries on a whole variety of topics? speedrunning, electronics, abandoned places, and critiques on a wide variety of media are some of my go-tos for documentary/commentary-style content. there's a lot more tho that I can't think of off the top of my head. I just like listening to people discuss random stuff haha.
Favorite games: Oooh, quite a few. Minecraft, Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Professor Layton, Ace Attorney, Hitman (World of Assassination), and recently Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Mega Mix are some that immediately come to mind. There are so many more games I could add but I gotta keep this kinda simple xD
Favorite colors: I love all colors for various reasons but any shade of purple is my absolute fave <3
Favorite animal: CATS!!! though I'm sure that's pretty obvious, haha xD I can't help but relate to them so much lol
Favorite food: mmmm. maybe my mom's beef and potato hash? it's the ultimate comfort food to me and she doesn't make it often, but it always Hits Just Right whenever I do get to have it.
Sweet, spicy, or savory: savory all the way, baby. don't mind a bit of spice alongside the savory sometimes but it depends on what it is.
Current obsession: my own OCs (and some friends' OCs as well). I literally talk about them all the time and I could say I'm sorry but I'm really not. xD if we're talking media in general tho? I guess the Hatsune Miku game I mentioned earlier counts, lol
Last book I read: oof. I can't even remember. for published books, I want to say it was Mayday at Two Thousand Five Hundred by Frank E. Peretti? but if not, then it was probably my friend's original story draft. I hardly ever read anymore, honestly. I just write what I want to read instead.
Last thing I googled: don't use google, per se. but I think the last thing I searched online was the lyrics to King by Kanaria because I want to learn how to sing along lol
Fun facts: I always suck at these haha. can't really think of anything so I might just have to leave this as-is, rip ><;;
---
tagged by @gonturan0:
3 ships: lol I don't do ships so I don't have much to put here xD I guess I kinda "shipped" some characters when I was younger (like Mario and Peach or whatever), but not? to an extreme degree or anything? was never my focus. still isn't. Honorable mention does go out to Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable, though. I felt their relationship was handled really well, even though I typically really don't like romance in kids' media at all.
first ever ship: idk probably Mickey and Minnie when I was like 5??? haha
last song: (see #1 in previous list)
Last movie: oof, memory is bad. it's been a while. the Mario movie???? in theaters??? i think. I can't remember. I don't watch movies as often as I used to tbh
currently reading: nothing right now, unless you count this list ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
currently watching: not "currently" but I'll probably watch the newest update of a Voices of the Void let's play that I'm keeping up with sometime later tonight :0
currently consuming: waterrr. stay hydrated, my dudes~
currently craving: sushi;;; specifically my Fave Big Roll with shrimp tempura, crab, cucumber, and a bunch of other good stuff (also SPICY MAYO, my beloved) <33
ayyyy, that's all, folks! I don't really know who to tag with this so i guess if anyone sees it and wants to fill it out, u can just say I tagged you xD I don't mind, haha!
#ask game#tagged for me#spectre says#i initially wasn't gonna do these but i figured . hey - why not xD

Exactly! Crestoria is not the only game they don't really keep tabs with. A while ago i played a saint seiya game by them and it had many many issues. If you cannot have multiple games with quality than please don't. Is bad for us and the employees, those poor people must be going crazy :c
At first I liked kasque, quite different than what I would expect from a goddess, but I ended disliking her...
I feel kinda bad for aegis just being a punching bag for jokes and Yuna just being there to look pretty, they have a lot of potential for the story. Like you said Yuna had a great point and a good reflection moment but whatever eh? Aegis too, I felt his story like a punch on the gut because I tend to be like him and the queen, but again, whatever...
I do the arena for the free stuff too! I am not competitive at all XD
hello again anon!! im going to do another readmore gksghkeg
yeah i honestly...ugh. i have just a lot of issues w bamco in general but i also Do Not want them to pay attention to me jic they tell me to stop making memes or something stupid like that— like genuinely instead of making the game more functional or adding like...idk. any story or shit that makes Sense they just added things like the transcendence board which is just. for ppl who already maxed out their ascension boards?? after like 6 months??? Y'ALL... ik for a while too the phantom tower was Waaayyy too difficult but i think they nerfed it back to normal considering i can now clear thru level 40 at least :/ but overall the game is just. geared towards ppl who drop fucktons of cash on it. if you look at the ppl in the top 3 in arena rn? you KNOW they've spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars on this game. what the fuck.
also minor gripes are just...they don't add very many new units anyway, compared to like even asteria, and i get that there's effort for the whole models or w/e but...i mean if rays can do it... and i don't mean that in the rate that banners are released, bc those are...kind of annoyingly often as of late (looking @ all the crestoria cast alts) but the fact they're only for 1 or 2 charas who are Only ssrs, and it genuinely makes r and sr stones and sr charas just...obsolete and useless imo? like i genuinely have EVERY sr AND r full awakened/ascended which. is probs partly due to the drop rates being Absolute Garbage, but thank god they implemented a pity system, right? ...right? [tired sigh] i've saved enough for julius who has been in crestoria for 228 days, bamco, fucking release h—
i also want to add that i've contacted support MULTIPLE times abt issues w the game and they have legit just told me "hm sucks have u tried playing the game w all other apps closed" like yes, bamco, but that's not the problem??
SORRY for several paragraph rant abt the gameplay i just have some very strong opinions LMAO
i understand not liking kasque! tales antags...and characters in general, actually, are rather hit or miss. i personally just love evil women so im rlly in love w her GSKEHGESKHG
but as for the aegis and yuna things... YEAH. i rlly love them both and it's been extremely disappointing to see how they've been treated by the story :( like even if yuna's acting silly to cover her own feelings, it would be nice to get those scenes we get in other tales games (like...idk even the scenes in xillia like where alvin and elize sit and talk in the park, and leia talks w i think jude or milla depending on the route?) considering it's like...is penelope going to be okay? can she ever go back to her?? is she okay just crossing the sea and leaving her, even if there's really no choice??? sorry for the character introspect i just have a lot of thoughts—
aegis too, it's like. i don't mind teasing to an extent, but i really feel sometimes they go too far w it :( esp in like. events and the character episodes moreso than the main story (tho i could be remembering incorrectly) which makes me wonder if they just have different writers for each but even THEN like the main story still fails to act like yuna and aegis Exist half the time?? and JEEZ yeah i am constantly thinking abt aegis and queen rebecca, esp imo it's just a very... well first of all, that has to be Traumatizing As Hell but second of all i strongly headcanon he was unable to say it bc he didn't mean it and also i have a headcanon that the whole event has kept him from ever saying the words "i love you" ever again so that's that on THAT. (these are my headcanons pls don't send me hate over them they're not canon i promise—)
and honestly same!! i used to be sss rank and then i stopped caring abt arena for a bit and dropped a couple ranks...oops. i'm currently s-5 and had to FIGHT to keep myself there this season. it's not that i rlly care abt winning or being high ranking. or first, even, i just want the prizes from being at a certain rank/placing tbh. which is why.....................................oh im so tired of the ppl with lvl 120 fully awakened new ass units like i GET IT you have MONEY but i am not spending that much on a mobile game!!
ANYWAY thank u for coming to my ted talk omfg im so sorry this is so long (again)
#mod.txt#SSSSSSSSORRYYYYYYY#if u disagree w me pls don't yell at me im sensitive—#these are just my onions i pr#anyway i again apologize for a v long post where i just. bitch abt crestoria ig that's my life now

1823 July, Tues. 22
7
12
1/2 hour in in the stable talking to the plasterer, and afterwards in the cow-house – Letter from M– [Mariana] (Lawton) dated yesterday,
“last Tuesday in coming downstairs my foot slipped and I fell down and sprained my right shoulder, till Saturday I was unable to use my arm at all, and even today I feel writing painful. xxxx has been my amanuensis but I am fearful of her, acting that part to you, lest you should fancy me worse than I really am” –
She thinks I “have exaggerated” her “feelings” on the subject of my last letter, “more than” her “letter warranted” – She seems to keep to her old opinions, yet so modifies them, that as she observes “to enter more upon the subject could do no good, therefore we had better drop it” –
She adds ‘I have never doubted your faith tho I have your prudence’ Wishes me to be circumspect. ‘I have a feeling on the subject which no earthly power can remove, and great as the misery which it would entail upon myself might be, I would endure it all rather than the nature of our connection should be known to any human being’
She had before observed that when she complained of my attentions to Miss Maclean I had owned they were foolish. I really don't remember this – Both Isabella and Charlotte told her last summer I did Mrs. M[ilne] harm –
Letter also from Miss Henrietta C– [Crompton] (Esholt hall) Disappointed at my not going – The Gilbert C– [Crompton]s still there – To stay till tomorrow – 4 pages the ends, under the seal, and the top of page 1 crossed – Miss Fawkes of Farnley speedily to be married to Sir Edward Barnes, governor general of Ceylon – She is to go out with him almost immediately –
“young Kaye is soon to marry Miss Arbuthnot with £60,000 – Accomplished and pretty, but I should hope weak for accepting him” – “Pray read ‘Quintin Durward’ it is charmingly interesting, I think superior to Peveril”
The C– [Crompton]s are going to woodend – They are to be at Leeds as today to see the exhibition – “Dr. Camidge has had a serious dispute with Mr. Greatorex where or how he is to stand” at the approaching musical festival –
Wrote the above of today, and went down to breakfast at 9 1/2 – At 10 3/4 in spite the perpetual showers (very rainy all last night) set off to H–x [Halifax] – A heavy shower at the top of the cunnery lane lasted till I stopt at Mrs. Wilcock’s door – Went in for 2 or 3 minutes to ask Miss Pickford if she would allow me to drive her to Haughend – (George rode Percy) – The Priestleys and Astleys, 2 Miss Butlers staying in the house, and Mr. John Edwards of Pyenest, all assembled in the drawing room soon after our arrival –
Sir John gave me 3 franks, for Mrs. Norcliffe tomorrow and for Miss Henrietta C– [Crompton] and Mr. Marsh on Thursday – Gave Mrs. H[enry] P– [Priestley] Mr. Marsh’s letter to read, and she instantly and handsomely gave me her name as a subscriber to Miss King’s poems – Lady A[stley] would have done the same, but Sir John, on reading the letter thought there was a particular etiquette to be attended to in these sort of applications – That he, as member for the county of Wiltshire, ought to have been applied to at home (at Everley) –
The printed names of the subscribers he knew well – Knew many of the people mentioned intimately – If Mr. Marsh applied to him, he would be happy to put his name down – Would be happy to do anything to oblige him – I might hint this when I wrote – Sir John had said I might hint this, before I asked his permission (it was granted) to tell Mr. M– [Marsh] that, if the thing was named to Sir John) I knew he would be a subscriber – The recent but worthy baronet took some pains to assure me, there was a certain etiquette in these matters, as member for the county, necessary to be attended to – He knew I was aware of this etc. etc. –
At this moment (5 p.m.) I am quietly smiling at all this importance – It might be a subscription for raising a Wilshire corps of volunteers, or for some great concern of vital consequence to the interests of the county and its members; instead of a 5-shilling subscription to a small volume of poems, published for the benefit of a poor girl and her family, reduced to indigence by agricultural speculations! ‘Tis but a little trait, but yet how biograph of Sir John!
On coming away, it was more than I expected to hear lady A– [Astley] invite me to Everley with seeming cordiality – I might visit Mr. Marsh – Winterslow was only (16 or 20 miles I forgot which) distant from them (the A– [Astley]s) and they would be very happy to see me – They are not to have Haughend till the 11th of next month; of course, therefore, I expressed my hope of seeing them again –
The 2 Miss B– [Butlers] are vulgar looking girls – Miss A– [Astley] seemed much at home with them – Appearances made no very individual distinctions between them – I suppose his contested election cost Sir John £70,000; and he has 12 or 14 thousands a year – Lady A– [Astley] said to me when I dined there, “Sir John is of a very old family – They were barons in the time of tilts and tournaments” – Does not the present importance of the house of Everley restless upon the manners than the money of the family? Perhaps their county is yet but young – But they are very civil to me, and little ween this ink shed of my pen –
From Haughend drove to Mill-house – Gave Mrs. W[illiam] H[enry] R– [Rawson] the letter to read she said something about hoping I was not begging for a subscription – There were so many subscriptions – With their family . . . . . . . but, seeing it was only 5 /. [shillings] said she never thought of my asking for anything less than a guinea, and handsomely enough gave me her name – Wanted to give me the money but this, of course, must be paid when the book is received – Saw 8 of the children (there are 10), and drove off to Thorpe –
Gave Mrs. J[ohn] Priestley the letter to read – She hummed and ahed, asked what Miss King – If she was related to the Kings of Wakefield – It was a long way off – Many charities at home – Of course, I agreed – Said it was quite enough if she had taken the trouble to read the letter, and instantly turned the subject – Which must have been a relief to her, as she had turned red, and might have hammered and stammered a little longer but for my ready consideration –
I guessed their dinner was waiting – and after staying a few minutes drove off – Made no remark on the subject to Miss P– [Pickford] marvelling, however then, as now, that she never once named the thing, or made the least offer to subscribe – How can this be? They say, or I fancy Miss P– [Pickford] has seven-hundred a year – She must be poor – Perhaps all she can spare is given to her friend Miss Threlfall – Yet not 5 /. [shillings] for an occasion like this! Many people can do what I think I could not – I know the value of money as well as most; but ‘tis the dross of gold, and may it never draw its dirty line along my spirit! –
Talked a little of Miss Threlfall as connected with beauty, flirting sentimentality, etc. Real refinement of sentiment perhaps almost peculiar to the lettered mind – At all events I could not concede it to a flirt – Wondered Miss Threlfall had never married. ‘She must have had some good offers’. Miss P[ickford] made no answer. I did not like to look full in her face but soon after said, ‘Forgive me, it is a very odd thing to say, but you are the last person in the world I should ever have thought of marrying. Tho you are very agreeable and I like your society I cannot fancy you making anyone happy in married life.’ ‘I forgive you,’ said she.
‘Have you’, I asked, ‘any objection to my making such a speech?’ She answered ‘no’. ‘I thought so’, said I. Convinced by her manner it was the thing to suit her, and persuaded that the connection between her and Miss Threlfall is most probably what I have all along suspected. The persuasion struck me. I laughed and said, ‘I can outwit you. I have more worldly nous than you.’ Said she, ‘I often think so.’ We smiled and parted. She must guess to what I alluded –
She had told me Doctor Macbride was not happy he married because he was young and his wife coquetted. In fact, he is a lettered man of fine and warm feelings which his wife cannot emulate or return. His good principles make him try to be happy, but he cannot. His wife is odd like a gentlewoman but not stylish not talenty. Her oddity is not of the gentle feminine king [kind] –
Got home at 3 after setting down Miss P– [Pickford] at Mrs. Wilcock’s door – Talking to my uncle and aunt – With the latter in the stable for a little while – Came upstairs at 4 3/4 – Wrote all the last page and so far of this which took me till 6 –
Did nothing in the evening – Came upstairs at 9 at which hour Barometer 1 1/2 degree below changeable Fahrenheit 57 1/2º – Rainy day – Fair and tolerably fine in the evening (vide the last line of page 74) –
At 9 1/2 sat down to write – Filled 1/2 a sheet to Mrs. N– [Norcliffe] to ask if she would have 1/2 a bed to spare for me in her house in Petergate, during the festival, and told her the news I had this morning from Miss Henrietta C– [Crompton]. Then wrote 3/4 of a 1/2 sheet to Mr. Marsh – the following is what I have written about the subscription
“Shibden Thursday 24 July 1823
My dear Mr. Marsh – I received your letter on Sunday, and an only assure you, it is one of the most unlikely things in the world, that I should think any application you write can or will make, “impertinent” in any sense of the word. It will always give me real pleasure to do anything that can at all oblige you; more particularly when an obligation is, in fact, conferred on myself, thro’ the satisfaction that one always feels in doing the good, however small, which may be in our power –
As far as I am individually concerned, your simple request would have been enough; but I can say this much for myself alone, and am sorry to add, that my intercourse with my neighbors is too limited, – too infrequent, – to give me any claim upon them in behalf even of so meritorious a young person while she is so distant and unknown –
I had a letter from Miss Marsh the other day, in which she mentioned having got you 48 subscribers – The paltry addition I can make, might not be named even with the widow's mite – But will you put down my uncle’s name and my aunt’s for one copy each, and my own for two copies?” ––––
Unless my mind changes, I shall not trouble my neighbors much about subscriptions, however small – I shall explain the thing to Mrs. Henry Priestley – To Mrs. W[illiam] H[enry] Rawson, I shall probably never name it – It will be forgotten or if thought of at all, Mrs. R– [Rawson] with all her family may be well enough pleased to save her 5 /. [shillings] so easily –

McShane was arrested the night of the robberies when detectives saw a man fitting the robber’s description in a local bar. They called the phone number in the Craigslist ad and took him into custody when he answered the phone, according to officials. The victims believed they were going to look at a Honda Civic. He later attacked a cop while trying to escape from custody, authorities said.
McShane, an admitted drug addict, said he used heroin, Xanax and alcohol before committing the robberies. He has previous convictions for drugs, weapons and assaults dating to , the district attorney said.

Miller It was cold and dark and Rob Pasterchick was getting desperate. The late-November chill had seeped into the Privateer Drive home he shared with roomates Jean Curtin and her son John. The electricity had been shut off in September. There was no heat and no lights in the modest ranch home in the Ocean Acres section of the township. So Rob, 42, decided to place an ad on craigslist, hoping that someone with a good heart and a kerosene heater to spare would respond.

The Stand Up
So this was an idea floating around my head for a little while, It didn’t come out exactly like I thought it would, but still Its written down and that is all that matters.
so without further ado my short story, The Stand Up
Richie Williams was on fire. However to the hundreds of thousands people watching him, that was just par the course. Richie had been on fire since 2011 with his breakout stand up special “Laugh And The World Laughs At You” for of course that is what Richie was, a stand up comedian. Well, not just a stand up comedian, THE stand up comedian, THE top selling stand up comedian 7 years running, and seemingly never to stop. Everywhere he went he sold out within the first 5 minutes, and he was apparently booked for a solid three years. Richie was on top of the world.
Sweat lined his brow, but that never stopped him. Stand up was his life, his very purpose, and he was damn good at it. Tonight’s audience was particularly in high spirits which always helped things run a lot smoother. In the first five minutes Richie was able to single out a rather unique laugh and play along with the person to whom it belonged, and move on expertly without any hurt feelings. In the next 20 minutes he was running all around the stage in pantomime of his late mother who found the rodent little Richie had found, and the audience was in stitches. By the last 10 minutes of his show the tears of joy would not stop flowing freely from his patrons and by the end each and every person knew they would remember the night they saw Richie Williams live. Michelle Wynn would always remember that night for a distinctly different reason.
Michelle had stood at the stage door for 40 minutes before declaring it a bust. Richie had obviously gone out a different route, but Michelle’s child like hope had kept her there late into the night, eager for a glimpse of her hero. Michelle, like Richie, is a stand up comic, and also like Richie, wasn’t too bad at it either. However, unlike Richie, Michelle was always stuck in small bars and school gymnasiums. She wished nothing more to meet the man she looked up to in order to ask him one question….How? How did he become the biggest thing almost overnight? How did he become so good at what he does?…maybe she had more than just one question to ask, but none of that mattered now. Richie had never shown, and it was time for Michelle to make her exit, and besides she was rather hungry now.
She had soon found herself in a small sandwich shop that she frequented rather often, usually due to the late hours it held, and partly due to the rather cute cashier that always happened to work when she was hungry. Beside her was a small breakfast sandwich, a sweet tea, and worn leather bound book. As she ate her frustrations at the missed opportunity melted away and soon she was laughing and joking with Nicole behind the registrar. She was having so much fun that she completely missed the man who had sat almost next to her. It wasn’t until he spoke up with a mirth filled “Well hello! Whats put the two of you in such good spirits this fine fine night?” that Michelle even noticed he was there. It took even longer (partly due to the shock and having to catch her breath) that she realized that the stranger was none other than Richie Williams himself.
Shock is one way to describe how Michelle felt at that time. Complete and utter disbelief, and rather angry that he would bother to show himself now is what she would describe herself. No matter how she looked at him tho he would not fade like a ghost in the night so Michelle knew he was real and actually there. Her silence soon gave way to noise in the form of questions. The usual in this situation were “What are you doing here?, “How did you escape the crowds?”, and “Oh my god is it really you?”. Unable to decide on which of these to pick, she decided not to be picky and went with all three at pretty much the same time. Suffice to say her usually cool demeanor had melted. Mr. Williams (as Michelle kept calling him), took all in good stride and explained that yes it was truly him and that he had waited in the theater before sneaking out a small door on the side of the building before changing at his hotel room after which he began to prowl for late night food. The only question Nicole has for him was “what can I get you?” which he also answered swiftly.
The shop had stayed open late in order to catch the rush of people from the William’s show, but due to either bad location or just plain bad luck, no one else entered the shop. After a devouring his entire sandwich in less than 5 minutes, Richie and Michelle began to talk in a more casual cadence that one takes in a local sandwich shop approaching 1am. Richie learned about Michelle’s hopes at stand up and that she wasn’t too bad a writer. Michelle learned that Richie liked to roam after a show and eat at the local spots and listen in on what people thought of his show. They talked about such things for quite a while until Richie happened to notice the worn leather book at Michelle’s side. He inquired as to its contents and received the reply of “stuff”. He inquired again with hints of teasing and Michelle relented with the truth. The book was her stand up act, everything in it now and jokes she wished to include in the future. It was a sacred thing that she has never shown another human being, and yet she offered it to Richie.
Richie read the journal, firstly with a straight face that soon lent its ways to chuckles…then full blown guffaws. Michelle’s heart beat faster than it had ever before. Here was a master, reading and loving her work. Richie jumped pages, seemingly at random, always finding the best bits and soon he had more than his fill. Now Richie asked her a question. “When is your next gig?” it turned out for the first time in a long time Richie had found himself with a hold in his schedule that allowed him to stay in town for a while. Michelle stuttered out the destiny laden words, “next Sunday”, and Richie smiled, handed her journal back, asked for the details , said “See you next Sunday then”, and left in the cold, windless pitch black of night.
Sunday could not come quick enough. Michelle spent all her extra time working on her material and her delivery, often ignoring basic things like homework, and food. Even though this show was in the nearly always empty “Highland Bar”, Michelle felt that this would be her best show yet. Sure she was just an amateur, but she always seemed to connect just right with whatever audience she had, and she was hoping that would be true soon enough. The days seemed to fly by like the rusted car you sometimes find in people’s backyards, but finally it arrived.
For all the hard work she had put in in the week, Michelle doubled it that night and soon had the entire bar (about 10 people give or take) laughing deep into their drinks. As much as she tried not to listen, she soon found her ear latched on to the sound of Richie Williams laughter. It was hard not to hear it, for it was soon the loudest thing in the bar, and Michelle could not help but smile. She was having fun, she really was. She could see her jokes made people laugh, and her stories hit at the heart. True she was having a really great night, however she could not help but think how far she had come. Soon the lights dimmed and her set was over, and there was Richie waiting to speak. They talked pleasantries for a while, but soon Richie invited her to his hotel with promises of furthering her career.
For the first time that night, dread hit her.
Dread could not keep her away. This was everything she had worked for, all those years of people claiming that her dreams would never work, that it was all a waste. She would finally prove them wrong, all she had to do was…go to a hotel alone with a virtual stranger. Tension built up in her neck, stress lined her face. She had no idea what she was in for but she knew whatever it was it was not good. Of course everyone had heard about the so called casting couch. The thing all people supposedly do to get their own show or special. Was she prepared to go that far? Would it be her own choice when it came down to it? These thoughts consumed her the entire trip, and Richie’s words floated over her like debris in a lake. In no time at all they had arrived at his hotel at the edge of town.
The two unusual people made their way to the elevator and went straight up. Richie’s never ending smile annoyed Michelle and she frantically tried to find a way out of her seemingly dire situation. No idea came to mind and less than 5 minutes later they were entering the room. A large queen sized bed dominated the room, a two small bedside tables, each with their own lamps stood like guards on either side of the bed. The usual hotel desk and chair combo was pushed over near the balcony, apparently unused .A small abandoned travel bag lay carelessly in the corner with all manner of clothing hanging from it. Richie led Michelle in, locked the door, and offered her a seat.
Richie stood like a wall, perfectly between her and the door. Feeling miscible Michelle sat in the chair that was offered to her and awaited her fate. A brief moment of silence passed while Richie made sure no one was around….and then…. he did something that surprised Michelle. No talk came of sleep or lovemaking, no talk of casting couches. Instead, Richie sat down and started to speak. He talked softy but quickly, making each point as if to a baby. What he said was,
“Listen, I’ve been doing comedy for many many years, much longer than just these past seven. I was just like you, young and vibrant, so full of potential. I did my time in the bars and school gyms, at the bar mitzvahs and business parties. I was where you are right now, in the Hotel room of the greatest comic of the time. And he told me exactly what I am here to tell you right now… laughter is a gift to the world, it is joy and happiness and at the very center of it…it is love. When you bring laughter to people you, in a very unique way are showing your love for that person, and in turn they show their love to you. It is such a beautiful thing to do because when there is laughter, in that briefest of moments, there is no sorrow, no worries or fears. You remove all the pain that person has, all the hurt and anger and sadness…you give them a gift.”
Richie was talking faster with every word, spilling his truth like he had not spoken to anyone in years. He became more and more frantic, and Michelle started to worry again, but he continued.
“But…but nothing in life is free, you hear that all the time and it is certainly true. When I started I didn’t know the consequences, what it would entail…not fully. You see, you may take all the hurt and pain…but it doesn’t go away…it has to go somewhere…so I was taught to take it unto myself…”
At this Richie reached up to the back of his neck, slowly as if to not scare the small animal perched in front of himself.
“You do it yourself…unconsciously of course. But since your crowds are so…small, the most you would feel is a little exhausted after a show…nothing too bad….but as for me, playing for crowds of thousands…its a bit different.”
His hands slid over his face…pulling…sliding the skin along with it. Underneath the mask lay a blackened, emaciated, weathered face, like one of the corpses caught in Mt. Everest’s embrace. The horrible visage stared at Michelle, daring a reaction, but none came. She sat in absolute shock, out of all the things to happen to her tonight, she did not think that her hero would remove his face, or that a monster would be hiding underneath. Words attempted to trickle out but all were cut off by the next thought barging thru. It was too much, too much for her to comprehend, to want to understand. So she chose not too, and struck out with her fist, which caught him just below the jaw and sent him sprawling.
Michelle ran for the door, attempting with all her might to pull it open using force alone. All rational had fled, no need for locks or even the turning of the handle itself, she was in full panic. Slowly the blackened face to rose from the ground it had found itself and righted itself with some difficulty. He lurched forward pulling her from the door and pinning her against the wall, his words were hurriedly whispered and slightly slurred from the attack.
“LISTEN TO ME…I am not here to attack you or cause you any harm…although that would be a far better fate than what I am here for…I’ve seen you, I’ve seen your heart and what I saw impressed me. You wish to make people laugh to bring enjoyment into their lives! It is very much the same reason why I started!! Not for the fame or money, but just for the sake of the laughter. Now…i’ve been going on too long…the stain is too much and I will not last forever…I’m at deaths door now and he is waving a warm welcome in his kiss the cook apron and I would very much like to be there…so i’m offering you a choice…”
Fear still stood strong in her heart, but at least she had calmed down enough to understand what He was saying. Although it was hard to concentrate with the decaying face in front of her she somehow managed to squeak out “a choice?”
“I need a successor….to keep the people laughing…and they need it more than ever…I cannot do it much longer…I need someone else. But know this even though I offer you everything you dreamed of, it is not a gift, but a curse. To willingly take on the pain of all those who come to see you, to become the healer of the people. Yes it will change you as I have been… It will be a painful existence…but you will be helping…”
His voice trailed off, seemingly loosing steam, loosing his cause in his own head. She could tell everything he said was true, like it was something she had been taught since kindergarten, she just knew. But still she was having a hard time concentrating.
“Can you please put your face back on?”
She didn’t even mean to say it, but at the time it was the only thing she was thinking of. After a hurtful glance and about five minutes in the bathroom, Richie was looking like his old self again. And in that five minutes, Michelle pondered her situation. Could she do something like this? Is this what her dream meant? What her hard work had progressed to? She knew the answer to all this, but she hated even thinking it. What right did the world have to take that much from her? She wanted to scream out, she wanted to shout and push Richie down the stairs, she wanted to do a lot of things. She immediately turned towards the fixed up comedian and said “OK.”
12 months later and Michelle thought about everything that had happened to get her to this point. Sure she had been fast tracked a little, but she still put in a lot of hard work. Her first special was due to start in no less than five minutes. She had spent the morning talking to Richie and even remembered to put fresh flowers on his grave this time. She didn’t know if she would ever get used to this, but she knew she was happy, she knew what her job meant to everyone. She spent the next few minutes preparing herself mentally awaiting her introduction. When her name was finally shouted out she ran full force on the stage and the crowd erupted with applause, and Michelle’s body erupted with unbearable pain.

Thursday 16
8 1/4
1 35/''
up at 6 50/'' but so vexed at its being so late, and so lazy, too, that lay on the bed till 8 1/4 – Fahrenheit 67° at 8 1/2 – writing out 5 June – breakfast at 10 to 11 1/4 – then asleep in my own room till 12 5/'' – from then to 3 35/'' (at 12 35/'' sent of note to “James Edward Norris Esquire” to say with my compliments that if he had no other engagement I should be glad to see him here this evening) (answer that he was from home) – from 12 5/'' to 3 35/'' wrote out from Monday 6 to all but the last 6 lines of Monday 10 June – James Holt came at 3 35/'' and staid till 4 55/'' – pretty well satisfied about the coal – he says, and I hope it is true, that not much harm is done – they pricked thro’ in one place but it is quite dry there now – (just at the lowmost extreme point of their getting coal, in the lower Whiscum field) – and it seems the weight of water on the other or Halifax side did, in one place, burst thro’ the 10 or 15 yards breadth of coal left as a barrier – but Mr Rawson has by means of galls gained 2 yards of level, so that now all the water goes the Halifax way instead of coming Shibden way, so that all is safe – asked why they had been suffering to go beyond their limits (i.e. into lower whiscum field) at all – but said not very much press this (so got no particular reason or decided answer) for it it would do no good to get wrong with Holt – he said when he found where they were (what business to be there at all?) he made them turn down according to the line marked on the plan leaving this barrier of 10 or 15 yards, and went down every fortnight to look after and keep them right – never had so much trouble with any property – Perhaps there may be nearly 3 d.w. (days work) stolen behind the 10 or 15 yards barrier – the only way to know, is to get down into Walsh and Hinchcliffe’s old works behind this said barrier, and measure – we must sink and go down near where Oates and Green and Walsh and Hinchcliffe pricked thro’ – Holt to ask W(alsh) and H(inchcliffe) if they will allow us to go down into their old works, and then try and make an agreement about the coals they have stolen – said I did not hope they would let us go down; but if they refused, it would look as if there was something wrong and they would have no chance of making an agreement for any fresh coal with me – I thought equity would compel them to let us go down; but, if all could be managed quietly, I would not be too hard with them – Hinchcliffe would give £100 a d.w. (days work) for the coal, in a new agreement, if allowed to set an engine (water engine – should only see the going up and down of the piston above ground) at Tilleyholm stile, and have all privileges granted, – to loose what coal he liked – but this would never do – for he could buy plenty of coal at £20 a d.w. (days work) and then get it easy enough with the loose he would have – for which loose I ought to be paid nor I myself ought to buy the coal at £20 a d.w. (days work) and then sell it again at a fair price considering the loose – In whatever agreement I make have a clause to bar their loosing anybody’s coal but my own – this engine at Tilley holm style would loose about 60 d.w. days work breadth on both sides, and the coals would come out in the new road and be 1st for sale and there might be a sight of coals got and there would no need to break up any ground in the estate – this colliery would employ 10 colliers constantly for 20 years – ought to pay me £200 a year – for Holt would advise me not to let in the same way as at present which is very troublesome and very expensive but to stipulate that so much per annum should be paid whether coal to that amount was got or not – this is the way in Holt takes of Waddington – and Waddington understands coals, and Holt would rather have to do with understanding people for Waddington – and he has never had a wrong word yet – this is the plan Holt would follow if the coals were his own – but they would pay for keeping, and he would advise me to wait a year or two – should I had no objection to this Swalesmoor coal will be done in about 5 years and Stocks will have none to bring but what will come from the other side Amblerthorn bar – then talked about Dumbmill loose – that would loose about 200 acres but would take an engine of 8 or 10 horse power, and cost above £2,000 – but Holt would employ the power in some way or other so as to pay for itself so that the water would in fact be lifted for nothing (i.e. it would turn some machinery which would pay the cost of lifting) and this would make it answer – but he agreed the Tilleyholm style loose would last me my life and would be the best to begin with – then got to talking of Emmett and Wilson who are beginning a pit in Quarry house land – will have a hundred yards to lift the water – and they have all the springs to lift dirtband spring which is the largest, and all – they will want a 30 horse power Engine – Stocks says it will all cost £20,000 before done; and Holt thinks it will cost £10,000 and no colliery here will pay for that – a very foolish business – ask what he thinks the value of upper-brea coal for me to buy – answer £50 a d.w. (days work) both beds, not surface measure – the land at £80 a d.w. (days work) suppose there are 70 d.w. (days work) at 50 + 80 = £9.100 quite enough for me ever to give I think – He would give more for Dove house coal (if he was in my place) – values that at £60 a d.w. (days work) (both beds) surface measure – but the land on the wrong side the hill and not worth more than £60 a d.w. (days work) – there are 50 d.w. (days work) at £120 = £6000 – I would rather have Dove houses at 6 than upper brea at 9 thousand pounds – speaking of Mr Waterhouses coal (Sim car) it turns out that Holt with _____ of the public house there bade £60 a d.w. (days work) to have all privileges – not worth more than £50 a d.w. (days work) would rather give £40 for those I have just bought of Wilkinson than £50 for Mr Waterhouses – Clark would have bought them, but they said they would not take less than £80 a d.w. (days work) not likely to get this nor to have £60 bid soon again – Holt to ask Joseph Wilkinson what he would take to have all the coal - monthly paid down at once – and what price he sets on that pointed bit of ground between the meeting of the Lower brea and Northowram roads – It was the sitting over a couple of glasses of beer that got me all this information stood talking to my father 3/4 hour about the coals after Holt was gone – asked Holt not to give his vote for m.p. (member of parliament) of Halifax till he heard more about it from me, which he promised –
wrote (in pencil) all the above of today except the 1st 4 lines, and then dinner at 6 1/4 in 1/2 hour – then 1/2 hour talking to Marian – She is in despair always having workmen – give her £500 a year, and she would go away – often thought she would go away as soon as ever she could, and never come back again but for a day or 2 –
out at 7 1/4 – walked all the road and by Benjamin’s to the top of Bairstow and then to the Coneyry to Matty Pollard’s and she and her husband kept me talking till 9 3/4 – sad disreputable work at Benjamin Bottomley’s – his son John says my father had promised him the farm which I said I did not believe a word of –
on getting home found Mr Norris had been here about 1/4 hour – complained of the heat of the little sitting room and soon adjourned (Mr N– (Norris) and I) to the drawing room – Had wine, and sat talking till 12 – On saying why and apologizing for having sent for him pledged to Mr William Lascelles, at least so I told him, on finding that, tho’ he said he was not pledged, yet he had gone so far as to ask him if he would stand if he was solicited, and the answer was,"nothing would give him greater pleasure” – but he said he had 1st asked It seems this took place last March – I observed that he had indeed taken time by the forelock – “yes! Nothing like it in elections” – He wondered he had not thought of Lord Pollington – nobody could be more proper – sorry he had not thought of him – but his only remembrance of him was of a boy shooting rabbits with his father in the park at Methley – odd he had not thought of him, for he had asked Lord Mexborough 1st if he would stand for H– (Halifax) they were walking arm in arm together in Bond Street when he (Mr N– (Norris)) was in London and he had popped the question but Lord M– (Mexborough) declined it, saying he was now since his father’s death sure of Pontefract – Mr N– (Norris) had then seen Mr William Lascelles’s brother and mentioned the subject to him – answer he dared say his brother would be very happy but he was not then in London – On Mr N–’s (Norris’s) return, and arrival at Doncaster, who should he see but Mr William L– (Lascelles) he went up, said what he wished and received the above (line 11 above) answer – on getting home he spoke to “Rawson” and 1 or 2 more friends, who would have voted for Dimtombe the last election – and all were agreed – In fact, he had got 400 votes promised and was always getting a vote or 2 when he could – had got 2 today – to those he could trust, he mentioned the name – others he begged to trust to him and depend upon it they would be satisfied – He did not believe there were more than 800 votes in the town, instead of 1036 – He had taken a great deal of pain about it and made out a list of all the votes (which he said he would send me) noting which way they would all vote and giving all the doubtful ones to Stocks, and yet he had a majority for William L– (Lascelles) He had 18 votes himself and had 20 houses that he meant to raise to 3 storeys and that would give him 20 votes more (18 + 20 = 38) I said there was nothing to be said against Mr William L– (Lascelles) – oh! No! said Mr N– (Norris) he connects us well with the Lord Lieutenant And several peers, and it is very useful in a committee of the house of Lords to have a peer to apply to – yes! but said I the other (Lord P– Pollington) is connected with as many peers – “yes! certainly” and then his Mr N–’s (Norris) entirely with Lord Mexborough made him sorry he had not thought of him – speaking of colours and saying it was a pity to stick to such very deep blue – oh! yes! but it was impossible to do otherwise – that the only chance about Mr William L– (Lascelles) whether he was not getting a little too yellow in consequence of his marriage (married Lord Morpeth’s sister) – I took no apparent notice of this but merely said it would be possible to make a strong diversion in favour of Lord P– (Pollington) (yes! he would have all the Lumley Saville interest which was great in Stainland, and all his own) but said I it would be a pity in such a case to have any collission – yes! indeed it would for what ever party brought forward 2 members would lose it – and if a yellow once got in it would be difficult to get him out again – that, said I, would never do – at all rates, Lord P– (Pollington) knows nothing about it – this seemed rather unexpected to Mr N– (Norris) but no more was said about it – I dwelt upon the pity of having any collission – said it was a pity Mr William L– (Lascelles) could not be provided for in some other way in which case Mr N– (Norris) would certainly give his interest Lord P– (Pollington) I seemed perhaps as if hearing how things were I had given up all thought of Lord P– (Pollington) but studiously avoided directly saying so – speaking of probable votes, Mr N– (Norris) said Mr Edwards was for tree trade – did not quite know whether he could count on his vote – oh! yes! said I – I could less count upon Mr William Henry Rawson – no! no! Mr N– (Norris) quite sure of the latter –
Inquired about having newspapers from the newsroom – all sold at 1/2 price at the year’s end and always sent away after being 12 hours in the newsroom – and this enabled the subscribers to have so many more papers – then about the navigation – the rail-road all in the hands of the unitarians at Manchester, and might or not be carried – thought there might be want of money – but if not, and the rail road was made, tho’ according to present dues it would carry goods rather cheaper than we do, yet we could lower so as to be the cheaper of the two and then we should have the carrying of all that did not require particular despatch, and could not be hurt more than a third – the rail-road to cost £800,000 from Manchester to Selby of which £480,000 to Sowerby bridge – thought it would cost the whole £800,000 to there – He had proposed a plan for our getting an act to take it forward from Sowerby bridge to Wakefield and then we should be sure – we should keep the carriage in our own hands – government would certainly give us the preference over any new company – If the rail road was made to Sowerby bridge we should make ours – if not, we should be quiet and remain as we are – It would be an insurance – would cost about £250,000 – we should have to subscribe 6 per cent per annum for some years – we have now 18 per cent and should then have 12 – would not sell out now – the shares at the lowest – he had bought in at 320 or 330 I think he said – would have bid shares had they been put up in the lump, but they were sold in single shares – then about coals. He Mr N– (Norris) (for Mr Prescott) gave Mr Rawson his loose price £2,000 – Mr R– (Rawson) had been about it some years – at 1st offered £5 a year and Mr N– (Norris) would have taken £100 a year, but at last would have and got the 2 thousand – Mr R– (Rawson) must have laid out 2 or 3 thousand pounds on the works – Told the story of his making Walsh and Hinchcliffe pay Mrs Prescott for all the coals they had stolen in Haines (alias Folly) land, tho’ they had made themselves fraudulent bankrupts – He said they had stolen 3 d.w. (days work) from my uncle – yes! said I. I want to know what to do about that – He offered me the sight of some old plans of the works in Mrs Prescott’s land , and the sight of a plan of Mr Rawson’s works from which there is a drift by which Holt could get into the old works and measure off what has been stolen – I said how much I was obliged and how great a service he would do me – He observed I had a fine coalfield – yes! said I, I might begin in Tilley holm or at Dumb mill, and loose everybody – but I was inclined to wait a little – He said I might easily have £500 a year and it was a pity to lose the interest of the money – ah! said I “I must get you to help me then; but I have inherited my attorney with the estate” – Mr N– Norris thinks I shall soon have an opportunity of buying Godley – said I would not give more than it was worth – would not buy it like the other – but for that I had a particular reason – tho’ it did not appear as yet – but I was going away – did not like to have it, and would have given anything for it – would rather have Dovehouses than Upper brea for which he bade 7,000 guineas and Stocks £12,000 merely to put him off – but he might have had it afterwards – meant to have made the house into a residence – but had got one now in the town, and would not interfere with me for Upper brea now – Dovehouses must be sold by auction some time – Landed property much lower now – yes! but when I want to buy anything, I never find it out – mentioned the little bits I wanted cut off by the roads – the best way would be to get the Commissioners to buy them for me – Mr N– (Norris) offered to do anything for me he could as a friend, and see what Mr Emmett will take for that bit near Benjamin’s, and write and let me know – to be folded up betterwise, and his note will then be forwarded if I am not here – I was of course as civil as I could – said I should be glad to see him on my return – he held out his hand on my coming into the room which I of course took very graciously I must keep up with all these people Lord Mexborough is a friend of his ditto Mr William Lascelles what a pompous forward talking fellow He is but no matter I may get something out of him talking –
It was 12 5/’’ by the kitchen and all were in bed – went and stood talking at my aunt’s bedside 1/2 hour – then 1/2 hour (till 1) writing the notes of this visit – very showery day till near 6 – afterwards fine – Fahrenheit 65° now at 1 tonight –

Hi ! So, huh (first post ever on tumblr, YAY !), and I have a bunch of - completely useless - questions, like, 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 maybe… 14… it seems… ? Some other people seem to have already mentionned some of these questions. Others are mine (especially the dumb ones). So here are some :
Save Note:
I’m gonna be putting my responses in like this, and also putting all the questions and answers under the cut, here!
1) Tapes in the True Lab : it is quite clear that the first three tapes were just a game. But, what about the two others ? Why were they recorded ? Especially the fact that every recording is on a different tape.
Save Note:
It’s hard to say … Though I suppose it’s equally important to just realize that, the biggest reason these tapes and laid down like this is because Toby needed to show this to us.
Perhaps there was a morbid wish to reserve their child on film in the last moments they had together. Perhaps Chara wanted to record it for posterity. Or perhaps there’s no good explanation, and this was just the best possible way to display what Toby wanted to show us.
2) Flowey did absorb six souls. Wasn’t he traumatized enough about having absorbing Chara’s soul ? Something must have let him believe that, this time, he would have been in control, right ?
Save Note:
It’s hard to say and we may never really know the answer. Perhaps there is a difference between absorbing a SOUL you wish to dominate and absorbing a SOUL that you want to hang out with you.
On the other hand … Perhaps absorbing the SOULs was the only thing that Asriel could do. He wanted godlike power, to reassume his form and unmake the world. Whether he would be stable or not, or totally in control or not … Maybe that was just never the important part.
Perhaps his desire to become whole was more important to him than anything else.
3) If the 2)’s answer is what I – kind of – think, then, I’m pretty unsure about why the fallen child lost control. Could it be because Asriel didn’t force them to stop ? Perhaps did he use… a softer way…
Save Note
Impossible to say! Perhaps Asriel was still mostly in control of his body with a power to ‘seize control,’ and simply allowed Chara to move it as they wished, being best friends and all. Or perhaps it’s easier to send control of the body into confusion than ‘take control.’ Perhaps Asriel won in a battle of wills. Or perhaps Chara didn’t fight back that hard, and was instead disheartened because the Asriel who said he believed in him turned away.
Unless we hear more about it–and unless Chara tells us I don’t think we will–this is all we have.
4) Still related to 2), about Flowey and the six souls… What happened ?
Save Note
Let’s remember not to judge Flowey too harshly for thinking this would work. Because remember … It did work. It worked. For a while.
Their powers belonged to him, and they were subservient to his cruel and terrible will. It was only when Frisk ‘woke them up’ that they began to rebel, and even that took a while.
And remember: Omega Flowey is playing with you. He sees himself as being in a position of ABSOLUTE power. Because he HAS absolute power. If he wanted to kill Frisk, he could. He DOES. Hundreds and thousands of times. The SAVE file has been wrested from Frisks’ control, and now belongs to Omega Flowey! He may not be the god of this world, but he’s so close there’s no difference!
If Omega Flowey had thought obtaining Frisks’ SOUL was more important than toying, or maybe ‘playing’ with them–depending on whether you really believe Flowey’s end goal was to kill them–Flowey could have simply killed Frisk, taken their SOUL, become god and unmade the world. He could do that. He choose a roundabout way which ultimately allowed Frisk tos top him.
I kind of believe that Frisks’ SOUL wasn’t even that important to Flowey in the end. I think the LAST thing he wants to do is destroy a playmate who’s has, finally, been able to play with him across different timelines.
5) Alphys’ chronology about determination experiments and the previous royal scientist, Doctor W.D. Gaster. Someone (camilaart tumblr) already talked about this strange chronology with Shyren’s sister, and despite this, Alphys states that she was the one who extracted determination. Unless, finally, it wasn’t such a long time that the previous scientist disappeared, if you take resets in account (and in that case, he was pretty old, to have seen the first golden flower bloom in a garden, just before the queen left)… Does that mean the three guys are not affected by resets ? Or does that mean Gaster’s situation looks like what the Goner Kid described ?
Save Notes
I’ve written about this actually, I think, at length. If this is the same theory that I think you’re referencing, then I disagree with it at a base level.
tl;dr: The determination progression in the notes is actually entirely an alphys production. I’ve responded to camilaa’s Gaster/Alphys theories before. But to condense it down: we know that there was a long gap between Gaster’s tenure as royal scientist and Alphys’. And since Alphys earned her prestige by working on an unrelated project, she was not involved at all with the Lab or any experiments about it beforehand!
The entries we can read in the lab are ALL penned by Alphys’ hand. We know very little about Gaster and his experiments–I personally believe the results of their research may have converged on similar points, but that even if both somehow discovered DETERMINATION, they must have done so without realizing the other had done it.
Whatever Gaster got up to, I’d suggest that’s a thoroughly pre-alphys time, and that we’e never heard anything explicitly about it in-game except from the Gaster Followers.
6) Suzy, by herself. How is she related to Gaster and Sans ? She lives in New Home, and this was where Sans and Papyrus have lived before moving to Snowdin. But then ? I think you’ve already dealt with this subject (Frisk, Chara, Asriel, Papyrus, Sans, Undyne, Alphys, Toriel, Asgore, Blooky, Mettaton, everyone actually… still much mysteries ! Guess everyone has such a DEEP HISTORY !)
Save Note
Hang on. Let’s take some time to sketch this out. Where are sans and PAPYRUS from?
But no seriously let’s think about this. Do we know where they came from? We don’t, actually. The bunny shopkeeper says they just ‘showed up one day and asserted themselves.’ Could that mean they immigrated from the city? I mean, it’s entirely possible!
But let’s remember, that sans is really sore about not being able to go ‘back,’ worrying that even if you could, it wouldn’t be ‘worth it.’ And this place he wants to go back too, is it the surface? Nah, actually, it’s not. Because we hear him talk about how ‘I gave up on getting back long ago. And going to the surface doesn’t appeal either.’
And he can just walk back to the city, right? It’s overcrowded, but he can visit. He can see them again. So. What’s up? Where’s sans (and likely PAPYRUS) from? The city? Or … Is there something stranger that we don’t know about, yet?
As far as Suzy, I tried to condense everything we knew about her into a post once. I haven’t felt a need to amend it since. It’s not much, but it’s interesting.
7) undertale tumblr already talked about Shyren’s lower body… Why ? I mean, I’ve already seen it in the theory mentionned in 5), but still…
Save Notes
I know the literal answer, though I’m not sure what the significance of Shyren’s lower body is in the larger theme of Undertale lore and what it implies as so far as secrets, if in deed there are secrets to be gleaned from it.
See, Shyren’s lower body doesn’t dissolve when Shyren is killed. This suggests to us that the lower body isn’t part of Shyren! Because it’s not! That ‘lower body’ is actually Shyren’s agent, an entirely different monster who appears to have a lot of similarities to Aaron, at least in body shape. We can find ‘agent’ in the list of monsters in datamining, here.
What does that imply? Heck if I know! But that’s what’s up with Shyren’s lower body. Perhaps it says something about the way that we sometimes perceive two characters as one character, when our perspective is a little messed up, or something about not forgetting the little details on monsters, or how even people who don’t talk can still be characters.
Or maybe it’s just a little detail that Toby thought would be fun to share with us.
8) How many dogs are there ??? Sorry, I mean : seriously, isn’t Chara a bit colorblind ? I mean, the cylinder in Undyne’s house appears blue, right…? And there was a patch colorblind-friendly, so…
Save Note
I’m confused by the question. The colorblind change was to make the blue attacks more distinct from the white attacks, so that colorblind people could see them more clearly. I don’t think there’s any other meaning than creating accessibility for more players.
9) Chara described how they came back at the very beginning, with a power (determination, probably). Asriel emits the hypothesis that his call has waken them up. What I want to know is that why Chara is able to see Flowey on a black screen, at the end of neutral/pacifist run ? Especially neutral ? Plus, we never hear their voice, even in their memories. Does that mean that everything we see is from their perspective ?
Save Note
We also don’t hear Frisk’s voice. And, one thing to remember is that there is a popular theory that most, if not all flavor text is actually just Chara talking to our Frisky business.
But that’s not your main question. What’s the significance of the black screen? Well, we actually see that kind of perspective all the time! PAPYRUS’ date, the powow near the end of pacifist, every single fight that we have … the black screen, most of the time, simply says ‘we are in a first person perspective right now.’
I don’t think there’s any more importance to that; that we are simply looking at Flowey in the way that we might look at him from a first person perspective.
10) About the save powers : there are 10 files in the datas. Ten ? But I thought there were eight children and Flowey ? Do you have an explanation ?
Save Note
Could you give me more context for this question?
11) If we take the fact that Chara may have had save powers in account, why Chara didn’t reset ? Perhaps they couldn’t ?
Save Note
You have my thoughts. I think they were prevented, or simply lost the determination to keep going.
12) And also, what happens with GAME OVER ? A soul that shatters ? I thought monsters were supposed to take it ? Or perhaps it doesn’t shatter, but it’s quite unclear for me actually.
Save Note
It’s hard to say whether the SOUL shattering is just the depiction of death that Toby chose to go with, or whether it’s literally what happens. If so it implies something interesting about the nature of Frisks’ SOUL, or perhaps LOADing. Perhaps Frisks’ SOUL is unusually weak, or doesn’t hold together well. PErhaps that’s what happens when someone loads! Or perhaps the SOUL shattering is just the most useful depiction we have for death, and we’re all thinking about this way too much.
Unless I hear otherwise, I’m going to assume it’s a stylistic choice that Toby made in the beginning, and didn’t feel like changing. I won’t be surprised if it turns out to mean something, but if it’s just how things turned out … I won’t be disappointed.
13) Where did Chara get that power of destroying the whole world in, like, 2 seconds ? I mean, knowing the definition of LV and EXP. I don’t know why, but perhaps have they much control since the very beginning. Also, wonder it it is Chara’s soul in the machine in True Lab(radory).
Save Note
We don’t know!
Which is weird, I know, but … We have no reason to believe that Chara has the power to destroy the world at the end of that. I don’t THINK we absorbed any monster SOULs, so I don’t think that we have become the kind of creature which can absorb the other six human SOULs … And wouldn’t that be depicted?
It’s weird, because it implies that there is something about the cosmic layout of the world which we just don’t know about. An angle and power that we have no context for … Was it LOVE that let them kill the world? How? Because we know how LOVE makes monsters more fragile, but we have no reason to believe that the world cares how much you want it dead.
Is there something special about Frisk? Something special about Chara? Something we just don’t see? It has to be one of those three things, but we can’t know more about it yet. We just don’t have the tools!
As for the machine, whether Chara’s SOUL is in there or not, it’s certainly no coincidence that it has that big smile and red heart on it. There’s something of Chara involved in that. I don’t know if it’s their SOUL, or their DT, or their power … But I believe this isn’t the first time they’ve been in the True Lab.
Call it a hunch.
14) Why is Chara’s speech so different from the flavor texts, in Japanese and in English ? Like, almost no contractions (more than Toriel though), or almost no agressivity ?
Save Note
It’s a very different kind of talk. I think that’s most of what’s happening. The speech is meant to sound threatening, disjointed, and disconnected from the rest of the experience.
You could argue that this simply means that Chara has never talked to us. But Chara has clearly talked to us through the narration, through ‘it’s me,’ and ‘my bed’ and ‘my drawing’ before. So I don’t think it’s potent enough to dismiss narrachara at all.
And finally… WOULD YOU SMOOCH A GHOST ? % =) (have some ghost’s faces !) I’ve added this question because I’m a dirty liar ! (sorry)
Save Note
HECK YEAH!
Thanks for reading ! (or at least reading the last line…?). And sorry for this.
