Oh I see what you’re saying now! There’s been no “positive integer” of ace Mammon in the show! And you’re right!
I personally don’t hold out any hope that the show will ever cover or explicitly bring it up, outside occasional secondary/metatext, like the pride piece or social media. (I feel similarly about Alastor.) Can’t feel let down by the absence of something you hoped for if you never let yourself hope for anything! <— I tell myself, curled up on the floor. The old and factually incorrect “can’t miss what you never had” fallacy. /sarcasm
I’ve got aroace goggles but they’re not rose-tinted…. Likewise,
“(also having the "good" characters tell the ace character he's unfuckable and that he should keep fucking himself kindaaaaa doesn't sit right with me, I really don't want to read bad faith into mammon being made ace rep but it gets kinda hard like this)”
I feel this too, and nihilistically I feel like it’s just another one of those commonplace things that Hellaverse-style writing tends to use for comedic effect that inadvertently (or via unexamined bias, ie “this came so quickly and naturally to you that you didn’t pause to think about how this could come across to other people in your target audience or if there was a more effective way to do this before giving the go-ahead and locking it in? Ok.” Disclaimer: this is common in lots of media! I don’t intend to say it’s something unique to the H.verse writing. It can happen to anyone, like catching a cold, but it’s the hope that the writing and editing process will catch these instances and make them better, but stuff can slip through, it happens. No offence intended) implies something Less Than Ideal like a harmful stereotype or perpetuating casual bias and then assigning them Morality etc. We don’t need an aspec rendition of the Hays Code/Disney/dudebro film “queer-coded villain who you can tell is bad because they’re queer and that’s bad because it’s not good like the good guy!”
The “You like/don’t like sex/romance? What’s wrong with you? I’m the normal one!” can be toxic/dehumanising in both directions when one side thinks it’s superior to the other. But the common M.O is
- the old “If sex/romance = value/virtue/humanity, Then less/no sex/romance = less/no value/virtue/humanity”
- (Bonus points when it equates sex/romance with the capacity to love and be loved!)
- which when used as an insult is basically just a rehashed cousin of those nice-guy “fuck you you’re ugly anyway” and manosphere “I don’t want to fuck you therefore you have no/negative value”
- weirdly but not that surprisingly, it shares a few vibes with ablism, probably because certain people see aspec as something “missing or defective”. Which has historically been thrown at all lgbtqia+ so it’s sad that it persists from within the queer umbrella
- But, loosely speaking of theoretical connections to ablism… I’m not claiming that fidget toys are exclusively for one type of neurodivergence/or ASD. But there is enough fodder for a potential bad-faith reading “show implies aspec symptom of neurodivergence/ASD, says they’re unfuckable and less valued than neurotypical amatonormatives! correlation does not equal causation!” type thing. I’m too sleepy to go there.
- Saying “you’re unfuckable” to someone who doesn’t want to Do The Fucks isn’t an insult in of itself, (it’s like saying “You’ll never get a girlfriend!” to a gay dude, they’d be like “that’s exactly what I want!”) but the connotation that fuckable= worth as a person, therefore they have no worth, is. Like, you could just say “you’re a worthless piece of shit” and not bring sex into it at all, but it’s Hellaverse and sex is everywhere, including the language. It’s the lingua franca… the lingua fucka?
I could assume a goodish faith usage of insulting an ace character as unfuckable/‘the only person who’ll fuck you is you die mad’* in the “I know this bothers you, so I’m using it to bother you” way. Like how in the pilot Angel used -isms to bother Vaggie. :/
*’the only person who’ll fuck you is you’ is also a bonus trope of ‘aspec people are autosexual/autoromantic or self obsessed’ 😂
But yeah otherwise it sits weird.
There’s so much one could write and explore just on the general topic of “Aspec and Othering in the Hellaverse”, it’s actually fascinating. Whether it’s a good fascinating or bad fascinating is irrelevant though. Gender and Sexuality in horror and horror-inspired media is always a blast to look into. (You can’t tell me Alastor isn’t a little horror inspired. How his aspec-ialty can play a part in his portrayed uncanny-valley not-humanness to other sinners, being part device, performance and contradictory animal, etc etc. There’s heaps to go on if anyone felt inclined. Goodnight tumblr)

this is a lot so I don't think I can cover everything here but yeah
I personally don’t hold out any hope that the show will ever cover or explicitly bring it up, outside occasional secondary/metatext, like the pride piece or social media.
alastor was at the very least allowed a verbal confirmation in hazbin itself so I don't think it's impossible for mammon (or octavia) to have allusions to their asexuality in their show, really I accept even subtext. for mammon it's still not even subtext yet, just word of god. but again, I won't fully judge him as bad rep here because obviously the show isn't over yet so reference to his asexuality could still come up in the future, I just had some hope it would happen sooner than later y'know and also ASMODEUS got to show up in full pan wear but we don't get any reference to mammon being asexual?
but yeah sorry this one is kinda nitpicking at this point, moving on, all you said after that yeah exactly what I meant about bee saying no one wants to fuck mammon as an insult, I know it's probably not intentionally shaming an ace character for it but it still can have bad implications even with good intention as just a lighthearted canon-typical joke
and this actually
- But, loosely speaking of theoretical connections to ablism… I’m not claiming that fidget toys are exclusively for one type of neurodivergence/or ASD. But there is enough fodder for a potential bad-faith reading “show implies aspec symptom of neurodivergence/ASD, says they’re unfuckable and less valued than neurotypical amatonormatives! correlation does not equal causation!” type thing. I’m too sleepy to go there.
I'm a bit worried about the infantilisation too, I've already seen people compare mammon talking about sex as an asexual to being like a child talking about sex
and mammon's constant use of toys in the trial doesn't really help with it, I worry that the logic behind mammon as ace rep comes down to "he's too childish and immature to understand sex and just pretends to understand it when he talks about it like a child" and that's on top of the whole "I can't see him caring about anyone legitimately therefore he's ace" logic which I have ALSO seen people say in response to him being ace
I don't want to assume that these were the actual intentions behind making him ace, of course these qualities can co-exist on top of being ace but the problem starts when you start correlating them and I think it's already bad that these are takeaways some parts of the fandom have
maybe I'm judging too early, maybe I just need to wait for mammon to be referenced as ace in the show itself and see how it's treated. but just. idk. there's just a lot of factors at play that makes me skeptical of him as ace rep, I was already skeptical when he was revealed as ace rep in the helluva pride art but this episode's showing of him has made me even moreso. genuinely, I do think having a canon sex-favourable ace is good! great in fact! but I can't praise it just for that when there's no indication of him being ace that you can see from watching the episode, if there is ever an episode that indicates him being asexual while being sex-favourable then I will praise it
anyways sorry for having topics surrounding ace mammon be so negative, I feel like it could overshadow the fact that I still really enjoyed the episode!!

Selection: “I see, very well.”
Job: Magus (Ranged DPS: Magical)
Weapons: A rapier augmented with foci and runes to be used as much as a staff as a blade. Unlike redmages, she bears no artifact to accompany it.
AI Behavior: Reinette has very limited mobility as a DPS, and thus will move very little in combat. She will often stick to the furthest rings of a fight, even if it means being far from the healer, to try and find a “quiet” place on the battlefield to focus on her spellcasting. She will move in to groups for stack mechanics, but will be the last to arrive and stay barely long enough to help soak damage. If a stack is on her, she will move to the center at the last second possible, likely frustrating anyone not expecting her to move.
Reinette does not dualcast, as her casting repertoire is that of a thaumaturge’s. The longer she is left unmoved, however, the quicker she will be able to cast. If lucky, she can accumulate a bit of spellspeed. This passive buff is under traits called “Focused”, and still works even when under the slow effect.
Out of combat, Reinette will usually move at a pace slightly faster than a walk, but never run outright. This may cause the party to need to wait up for her before reaching trash mobs and bosses.
Battle Lines:
“Let’s make this swift.” / “I envy <t> not at all.” - Engage
“Mmmh.” / “Lucky of me...” / “Lets do that one again.” -Crit
“I’m not done yet.” / “Don’t count me out yet.” -Buffing Self
“More of them? Just more to burn, then.” -Enemies joining the battle.
“May I have a rest?” / “Don’t lower your guard yet.” -End of combat.
Limit Break:
“Molten shall be your pain; by fire you’ll be slain.” -LB1 (Quickflame)
“I shall throw wide Thal’s halls for you.” -LB2 (Ashes to Ashes)
“Know you not what lays within me, and neither do I.” -LB3 (Crystalline Malady)
KO’d:
“No, not again...” “Find me soon, will you?”
Revived:
“That pain never gets easier.” “I owe you a small debt.” “Do you think that’s the best <t> can do?”
Party Specific Behaviors:
If Livia Dreamspell happens to be in the group, Reinette will abandon her usual aloof demeanor to follow her through most mechanics, and enable Sprint to reach her for stack mechanics. Their dialogue both in and out of combat will be a bit romantic and border on flirtatious. Her slowness out of combat will be negated when Livia routinely picks her up to carry her between fights.
On the opposite hand, if T’odaluk Tia or Sen’ra Tayuun is in the party with her, Reinette will become more quiet and observational. Her group tactics will be average, except for Sen’ra, who she will stack with more eagerly. Speech between them will border between respectful and dry banter, but these are her bosses and so she will be obsessed with outputting a perfect DPS rotation more than anything.
Others including Latika’a Renaz, Viora Val’doran, Llewannth Bonheur, and Azhi’li Ditreinu will have special dialogue, though often bordering on a lecture more than anything else. While they at least open some avenues due to her fondness for them, she refuses to drop her cool persona on a job before them. Llewannth and Latika’a in particular will be scolded for any “charming” airs they try to put on. A’bacus Tia and T’ashir Burwani are much the same as this group, but she will follow them with less skepticism and annoying info-dumping.

Just a rant
I went into the Yandere Simulator related tag, and found a post saying that if you in any shape or form respect YandereDev, then you are a good person. I’m not going to link the post, as I don’t want this person to get attacked (despite the fact that they are supporting this jackass of an ‘indie developer’). I sort of just… face palmed, because what does this say for people who DO NOT respect YanDev? They are bad people? I guess in the eyes of his blinded fans, yeah, we are seen as bad people - the haters. There is literally no reason for me or anyone to respect him. I used to respect YandereDev once upon a time, but when he doxxed the owner of the first YandereDev crit blog, I lost most, if not all of my respect for him.
I tried to stay within the fandom, and contribute to it because I liked Yandere Simulator a lot. The bugs made me laugh, and I meme’d the crud out of them. I made 3 MMD vids, and even wrote fics about the ‘game’ because I enjoyed it so much. But then I realize now that I continued to like Yandere Sim mainly because of fan contributions. Be it fanart, mmd, or fanfictions. I didn’t even leave the fandom and delete any posts about it til August because I got fed up with where it was going. I would have been alright with YandereDev’s past had he owned up to it. Yes, I’ve done some pretty stupid things as a kid and in my teenage years. But I’ve since did away with my own bad habits. YandereDev aka Alex Mahan has not.
After all that he’s done, I refuse to respect YandereDev again. It’s never happening. It doesn’t make me or you a bad person if you don’t respect him. He clearly has no good reasons under his belt to make him respectable. What YandereDev has shown us is that he is incapable of being honest and productive. He lies to his fans about his general schedule regarding the whole idea that he spends HALF the day working on the code for the game (which is a fucking mess, and you literally don’t have to be a programmer to recognize that because… Looooook at all those bugs in the game). He can’t even take criticism for crying out loud! Even if it is constructive, he will insist that you’re the asshole in the situation and that he’s the one to get off scott free.
Instead of doing what he claims he does 12 hours a day, he plays a multitude of video games. Which is something I’m not against, but don’t go claiming that you dedicate 12 hours a day to coding the damn game in order to meet that bi-weekly or monthly update to your game, Alex. Ontop of that, he steals character designs, game mechanics, rips certain environments in the game from MMD, uses copyrighted material (music, assets, etc) in Yandere Simulator, and makes 60k a year off of the unity run game. Yandere Simulator is devoid of any originality. If there is any, then well, it’s very little.
He is doing the equivalent of taking food from a fast food restaurant, putting said food on plates and bringing it to the guests (aka fans) claiming that the food is his own cooking. Yes, I just referenced that Steamed Buns clip from the Simpsons, but that element of the clip really does fit well with what Yanderedev actually does. Do the fans realize that they are supporting a fraud who will indeed never finish Yandere Simulator at the rate it’s going? Probably, probably not. For all we know, they are in denial. Or they unfortunately don’t care. I’m not saying Yandere Simulator will never be finished to be a downer. No, not at all. It’s the realistic outlook of things. Yes, FFXV took 10 years to make (Previously was XIII versus), but that’s because it was in its conception stage for 6 years, then it began to flourish as a more final product in 2012.
But, does this give Yandere Simulator an excuse to be developed at such a slow pace? No, no it doesn’t. There was no conceptual stage. All Yandev did was combine Hitman and the Yandere trope into one game, using Unity assets. As an overall, Yandere Simulator is not that complex. It literally is a killing people simulator with little to no story. Now I get that it’s a sandbox build but it shouldn’t be a sandbox build at this point! It shouldn’t be using the Unity models any longer. Osana should be finished, heck, 5 or 6 rivals should be done at this point. It’s not that hard to implement YanSim’s equivalent of bosses into the game.
I’m not undermining the difficulty that is involved in developing a game. It does take a lot of work. Truth of the matter is though, is that Yanderedev doesn’t work nearly as hard as he probably should to get this game developed and into something more than a sandbox. Yes, it’s a pain in the neck to code and program the game. It can also be difficult to come up with proper character designs, personalities, and stories but it’s not impossible. Yandere Simulator could have become something amazing. It still would have been closely compared to Hitman yeah, but it would not be in what I tend to call Video game development purgatory edging onto development hell. If Yanderedev does not fess up, and turn himself as a person around, much less turn the game he is developing around then it will never be finished.
I’m very, very glad I never gave Yanderedev money on his patreon. Because I would have sorely regretted it. I respected him for a very long time, and found him to be great as a developer and as a person. Obviously through my ramblings, you can tell this isn’t the case anymore (Thank god). Yanderedev isn’t a saint. He is not a good person. Do I hope he grows the hell up and takes responsibility for his actions instead of blaming e-mails for the slow development of his “game”? Yes, I do. I really do. I doubt this will happen, but one can hope right?
I’m not saying every YanSim fan is a bad person. Many, many of them are young and impressionable - misguided. Some of them are genuinely not good people, but unlike Dev, they have more potential to grow into better people whether they are minors or not. The biggest problem with Alex Mahan is that instead of taking responsibility for his past doings and trying to grow into a better person, he has retained his habits from his past even to this very day. I would have been “Whatever” about his past had he proved that he was a genuinely better person who learned from his mistakes. But the fact that he is the complete opposite of being mature and showing growth within himself as a person as well as his dishonesty are the biggest reasons why I turned my back on Yandere Simulator. Why I gave up on supporting YandereDev in general.
rant over. I’m sorry about that. ________________________________________________________________

The Last Nightmare, Omega Weapon
Yeah. This thing killed me. It killed me a few times. This picture here was taken in the final round. Three turns before that I had a full team. It managed to aoe my team to death past Last Stand and Reraise. It’s been a while since I’ve faced something with just that much raw power.
Actually, no. It wasn’t raw power. It was this thing’s details. Most attacks bypass buffs to Resistance. Immune to break effects. Resists every element. This thing is nuts. Now, the thing about Nightmare dungeons is that they’re almost completely based around a puzzle. While this one isn’t quite as complicated as a few of the others, it still has one. I want to hopefully put something vaguely helpful out there, but I don’t want to just spoil a puzzle to people happening by on the tag. So, I’ll give spoil free details first, then put the full details under a read more.
Now, I do stand by that this puzzle isn’t quite as complicated. Also, the fight isn’t exactly terribly difficult to manage. The problem, if I am identifying it correctly, that there is a pattern. A pattern you need to learn precise movements for, and punishment is a huge amount of aoe damage. With that in mind, it’ll be very difficult for anyone to win this one the first time. You have to learn when to apply pressure and when to restrain yourself and apply no more than necessary. Focus on that, and I’m sure you’ll figure this out before long.
Getting into details, I did have some clue in what I was doing. There’s a reason why my WM is in the middle and not in my usual last spot. That’s because you want your damage dealers off on the side for round 2, but let’s get into round 1 first.
Round one is basically a dps race. The trick to this, however, is that all your buffs will be removed at the end of each of Omega Weapon’s lives. This means you want to end round one as fast as you can without burning out sbs.
As Megamind once said: “There’s a benefit to losing; you get to learn from your mistakes.” That’s very true here. After the first few deaths, I realized two things. The first was that it did each move in a certain pattern. The second was that the fourth move is Grand Delta, and that move sucks. With that in mind, I decided I wanted the first stage to end after three turns. I refused to get hit by Grand Delta again. To do this, I had Eiko first crank up damage with Rallying Etude, then Curaja, and then Flames of Rebirth after two aoe attacks, allowing her to survive the third attack. Also, apparently Reraise isn’t considered a buff, so that was a line of defense.
Round one ends and all your buffs are removed. Then round two begins. First off, this thing has no problem blasting your team apart with full power aoe attacks. I recommend getting the jump on this by timing your sbs to go off right after you get the first kill in. That way the buffs aren’t removed by Vengeance, but you get them in before you’re blasted apart. Beatrix again proved amazing at this since she can give the party magic blink, giving Eiko more time to activate her bsb. My Snow also managed to get off Here We Go! to give my team Last Stand.
Now, here’s where the gimmick really comes in. Two big Christmas ornaments. Now, I’d just ignore the green ones. They heal it a bit, but it’s not a huge amount. The red balls have to go, though. Apparently, it uses Nightmare Omega Drive after a few turns of being around, and that kills people. Destroy the red Chrismas balls first to keep that far and away. They even do a decent chunk of damage to the boss for you. Oh, and destroying the green ones give your team an aoe heal, so keep that in mind if you need it. Oh, and gimmick. You can only attack it with the two people directly in front of it or bad things happen.
So, destroy the red balls, smack the boss as hard as you can, round two ends. You’re winning in points, sure, but Omega can still win by ko. Let’s not let that happen.
It removes your buffs upon death, so try to time your sbs again if you can. This time, it’s just a dps race. It even does a lot more single target magic attacks, so party blink can last a bit sometimes. Try to keep your team alive and do as much damage as you can in round three and get the ko for yourself.
Victory! New Champion!
Now, since I’m hoping this is read completely before a match and it only costs 1 stamina to try again, I don’t feel bad about leaving the RW for the end. This ended up meaning the difference between victory and total party wipe for me. I tried a wall to protect my team from whatever it could, but it wasn’t enough. Overdrives were nice, but they didn’t always seal it up right. Eiko’s bsb might help you if you don’t have it, though. Her crit chance increase and powerful healing abilities really help. A magic blink wouldn’t hurt, probably. In the end, I went with Vessel of Fate. Sure, I already had one, but it let me hastega up in the first round, do damage quick with Cecil who used it, and still hastega with OK for the next round. Damage and speed are very important for this fight, so make sure you have it. This was a tough one, so get ready.
