Pretender optimus checking in on the progress of his newest larvae, only to find a very distressed, but also still very much ALIVE ratchet.

Confused he goes to investigate, as the larvae should have finished gestating by now.

Instead he is met with way too many tiny yellow eyes, staring at him through the seams of ratchets armor, the former having backed himself into the wall when optimus entered.

Leaning in for a closer look, optimus suddenly flinches back as he gets bitch slapped by a slimy red tendril.

The red slime mold, now somehow looking angry, emits an ominous hissing sound.

The mold is not happy, ratchet is their host, how dare this other parasite try to take him from them?

Tldr:

Isopod parasite invades personal space of blood mold parasite, gets slapped.

Excuse me this is fragging hilarious but I know how to make is fit in with the au so gimme a sec. This will not be canon, but rather a divergent little thought.

Something was wrong with the newest larva.

"Stay back!"

Ratchet was supposed to be consumed in order to fuel the growth of the larva, and yet... there he was. He was weak, as evidenced by his inability to stand. However he was still fully functional, with no signs of organ displacement that would normally be a sign of the larva finishing its growth.

The medic tried to fight back, to flee. Optimus did not allow him to as he knelt down to examine him. Ratchet shook and clung to the wall behind him, his optics wide and his plating flaring. Such a pathetic reaction. Flaring plating in such a manner was foolish, it left room for potential attacks to sensitive inner wiring. And yet as Optimus leaned closer to watch, he saw dozens of glowing gold optics meeting his gaze.

"Sire, what has happened to Ratchet? Has he not become one of us?"

Bumblebee questioned curiously from where he stood a ways off. Optimus did not respond. He merely watched as the many yellow optics shifted in the seams of Ratchet's armor, the medic in question seemingly too far into a state of shock to react much to it.

"This one has adapted unorthodoxly."

Optimus noted as small tendrils slipped out from Ratchet's armor. This larva was damaged. Optimus had specifically augmented it to be a perfect match for the doctor. There should have been no issues with its gestation, and yet for some unusual reason, the larva had not consumed its host but rather... merged with it.

"I will repair it."

Optimus reached out, leaning closer with the intention of getting a read on his spawn to assess its viability. However before he could so much as come close to touching Ratchet, one of the many red tendrils whipped through the air. He did not have enough time to react before it collided with his face, not damaging him, but prompting him to stare as the larva, if it could even be called that anymore, hissed at him.

"What in the Allspark-"

Ratchet gaped as the larva, or perhaps symbiote, retracted its tendrils and continued to watch through gaps in his armor. Optimus glared, agitation blooming where simple curiosity had dominion but moments before. How dare his spawn fight against him. He was the Firstborn, the Hierarch. He created the creature that resided within Ratchet's frame. He was its Sire, and yet it dared to rise up against him. After so much effort had gone into its careful tending, it wished to set off on its own.

"You can't do that!"

Bumblebee called out as he came closer, his face set into a scowl as he glared not at Ratchet, but rather the optics of the former larva. Optimus for his part continued to kneel, observing in silence. This larva was different, it cared for its host. His agitation bled away as he considered the situation and the terrified Cybertronian before him.

He could use this. A larva that cared for its host in such a way was... unusual and largely doomed to failure in the wake of the great plan. However... even faulty tools can have their uses.

"You must respect our Sire!"

Bumblebee continued, his fangs on full display as his shell began to fall away in response to his emotional unease. Optimus did not stop him. His eldest spawn was not often afforded the chance to act on his instincts, not while he had to blend in.

"This can't be real."

Ratchet murmured as the larva hissed again, albeit with less aggression than before. It seemed to regard Bumblebee more fondly, an unsurprising reaction. Bumblebee was no Firstborn, he was unable to spawn, and thus was not a threat to the territory of this larva, if it acted upon the instincts Optimus instilled in it at any rate.

"Larva, are you capable of communication?"

There was a long pause as Ratchet stiffened, his optics wide in terror as red tendrils climbed along his neck, digging into his components and forcing his vocalizer online.

"Affirmative."

Ratchet's voice echoed in the room with extreme apathy that was common amongst the newly gestated. Optimus hummed, his inner mandibles clicking as he continued his line of questioning.

"What is your purpose?"

Again, silence reigned for a few kliks. Optimus remained patient, his gaze locked onto the larva's many optics as it seemed to think. He could use this tool, but if it failed to obey, it would need to be terminated along with its host. A horrible waste of resources, but not one that would be impossible to recover from.

"To protect. To safeguard. To preserve."

Ratchet looked absolutely terrified as the larva spoke through him. Bumblebee made a curious noise but otherwise remained still as Optimus contemplated. The larva had not specified. Obviously, it lost something integral during its gestation. He would need to be sure not to use the CNA strands he imbued it with in any other spawning attempts. He needed his offspring to know the purpose of their kind and to remain firm in it.

Even still, this broken being might still have worth.

"Your host will be allowed to continue functioning if you can ensure its silence. Our mission remains, and I will not allow it to be jeopardized."

The larva's tendrils slipped out from Ratchet's plating threateningly again, its hisses ringing out in the room.

"Hear me well larva. I am your creator, and yet you are not of my line. Your existence is only tolerated due to its novelty. Failure to comply with given orders will result in immediate termination."

The hissing died off as the larva fell silent, its tendrils running along Ratchet's outer plating as if it would soothe its terrified host. Foolishness at its finest.

"Host will remain undamaged. Service only offered if state maintained."

The larva at last replied in reasonable fashion. Optimus nodded once and allowed the shell covering his face to fall away in order to make his point. His mandibles chattered as they were allowed freedom of movement and his secondary and third sets of optics flickered online. His fangs ached as they were allowed to slide free of their casing and he allowed a series of deep rumbling hisses to escape his vocalizer as he stared down the larva, ignoring its host.

"You will obey. The knowledge of your host will be obtained. Your service is obligatory."

The larva hissed right back, if with less courage than before as Optimus continued.

"You cannot flee. Megatron will not house you, Jazz has already left. And should you run, my pure spawn will hunt you down and end you both."

His gaze momentarily flicked to Bumblebee who nodded in understanding. Neither wished to kill Ratchet without cause, not when he was so very useful and had the potential to be host to a most glorious creation. However if it came to it, the mission would always prevail.

"Do you understand?"

His question hung in the air before Ratchet nodded and the larva hissed once more before retreating back into Ratchet's armor. Agitation again grew in Optimus as he watched Ratchet's plating settle. He did not have nearly enough control over this one. It was not unified under the mission.

ep 1-5

the plot is actually kinda different from what I thought ?? in my mind the plot was: utena was a girl in a princess school who each and every princess would be "conquered" (for a lack of better words rn) in a ceremonial duel by a prince who fancied them, maybe she didnt wanna wanna marry anyone or she liked Anthy already but anyway in my mind utena showed up in the ceremony with duel clothing and then, in a very brave tm like-scene, she would openly declare she refused to be conquered by anyone and tbh I'm not even sure how Anthy would come into the plot... but back into what actually happened in the episodes everything so far is very introductory and just showing what mechanics will be explored further down the line I think?? the op is really good too

also every boy so far reminds me so much of knights of the zodiac?? maybe it's just the design I guess...) and nanami can get these hands, jealousy is a disease and she's the sickest person on earth for all I know

ok so why does this school just have random animals around 😐 I could understand the horse but a bull and a kangaroo?? what ...

touga just says the most random dramatic things and then just casually says anyone who believes in friendship is a fool ?? the guy wouldnt last a day in the naruto universe tbh, he kinda irks me in some way but I'm not sure why so I'll live with this strange feeling for a while I guess

I feel like the main thing on the episodes are parallels, one way or another I always feel like they're setting up parallels and giving me clues for a bigger picture and a deeper plot arc that is still to come and the bet on it fmv just made this impression stronger, also I wanna say it's done in a good way, one that is both mysterious (??) and "honey you've got a big storm coming" at the same time 🤔🤔 much to think about honestly

↳ just saw ep 11 and even though I already knew this was coming sooner or later it still felt like crap seeing utena lose to dick head, at the end of the episode when he says anthy was always just reflecting utena's own wishes for himemiya (in another way bc I dont remenber the exact words) it felt like 😐 bc yes I knew that (the way she was working her thoughts was simply a copy and paste of what utena was saying) at all time I kept those essays about anthy in my head, I dont think theyll be truly relatable to what I'm seeing rn but yeah anthy rights (even though I know you betray/cheat on utena down the line bc of the bet on it fmv but I'm sure you had your own motivation)

↳ saw ep 12 bc I just couldnt handle being in a cliffhanger and yeah it happened what I absolutely thought it would lmao not that it was that difficult to foresee but yeah, I kinda liked how utena did it for her instead of being like "oh I wanna save anthy from touga" and treating her like a damsel in distress (I know that's kinda her position as the rose bride for what I've been told so far and that this is a subject spoken about in many many essays on tumblr but yeah) bc so far she's been treated as a trophy and a way to get something else, for the green haired guy it was a way to see something eternal, for miki it was a way to hold on into his "shining thing" and for touga it seems (so far) like a way to manipulate (just like he does with nanami) and just mark his position as above everyone else as he seems to view himself?? man I might be saying random stuff rn but it kinda does makes sense in my mind with the information I've had to this point

ep 13-25

honestly 😐😐 through 9 whole episodes I felt like they were trying to make the side characters deeper and show their hidden face and motivations but it felt so shallow...... not even actually shallow, just not deep enough that it would make me care about these characters and the fact there was no actual build to showing us why we're getting to know these characters backgrounds was just kinda meh too, didnt really help that all episodes had all the same formula and the same timing just for the developers made in those episodes be forgotten at the end and also just that pink haired guy could be like "ah failure again", it felt like watching the same episode over and over again, it was really tiring and like?? girl help I do not care about these characters at all, I feel like it could have been done well (like the keiko ep in comparison to the furuba chapter that deals with the yuki appreciation (??) club president graduating.... the way this ep was done and setup didn't really bring me any emotions) overall not to my taste and tbh I feel like I could have skipped all those episodes except for maybe the miki and juri one so 😑

all nanami focused episodes are the worst so far, she's so boring and I cant stand now annoying she is, the diary episode?? the cow episode?? the episode when tsuwabiki fuels with utena?? honestly I know they're trying to show me a better and different side of her but it just doesnt!! work!! bc i feel no sympathy for her, my biggest wish rn is her and touga just disappearing and no more filler episodes🗣🗣

I thought akio was utena's prince?? but apparently he's just anthy's brother and like.. I'm do done with his little talks with utena and yadda yadda, I just wanna see their duel is that too much to ask I'm dying over here (if this lenga lenga continues until ep 25 i will be so mad bc why were so many episodes wasted on such boring and and not necessary side characters backstories?? idc about them at all man aaaaaaaaaa)

first of all, ep 25 was good but kinda reminded me of the nine episodes (13 until 21) where absolutely nothing interesting happened so I hope I'm wrong also can I just say just seeing the preview of the next episode made me roll my eyes so bad I almsot saw my brain?? bc yeah I'm fucking tired of nanami fosuced episodes she's so annoying oh my god nobody cares about a goddamn egg and much less one coming from her let her die or something pls she's so annoying there's nothing I've learned about her that was not against my own will I'm basically rotting over here 🤒

god i LOVE her leadership and confidence and strength, like everything about that aspect of her. deciding to stop making her crush on sonic such a big motivation for her and shedding more light on this aspect of her was one of the best decisions sonic team has made in recent years. its especially good in idw shes so powerful im so proud of my girl…. her having a temper doesnt make her a bad character yall just hate it when a girl isnt all sweet and dainty 100% of the time. the only times i dont like it is when the writers use that aspect of her to make her insult kids which She Does Not Do but other than that its just kind of a part of her she’s got.
