Hey so like, I wonder if TF2 Tumblr people know about the Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades "Meat Fortress" crossover's unique weapons?
Basically there's this really in-depth VR gun simulator and it had an official TF2 crossover a while ago that's still getting new stuff added for it, and along with the default TF2 weapons (plus beta-inspired grenades with some original ones thrown in, and alternate ammo types for most weapon types, none of which I will be covering in this post for image-limit reasons) it also has a bunch of custom weapons made specifically for it!
Also yes, as you'd expect, they feel kinda weird to use compared to the more realistic options the game is based around.
Images and details below (both of which are from the wiki, since taking decent screenshots in VR is painful and also I don't remember everything about them because there's like 20).
(Please note that I'm using the wiki's classifications for what class each weapon belongs to; some of the "All Class" ones do seem to fit with specific classes, but they aren't counted as such. Sorry. Also the wiki is a Fandom one. Again, sorry.)

Tangled Bonus Marathon - Rapunzel’s World : The Ultimate Series’ Guide
Tumblr media
Introduction
While I was gathering books and comics for this review series, I kept seeing this series guide advertised to me by google’s and amazon’s algorithms. Now neither would tell what the book was nor give me any sort of insight into it’s pages, and I never heard it talked about within fandom. It’s not even listed on the wiki with the other activity books.
So out of sheer curiosity, I snagged it used off of Abe Books for less than five bucks. Now this was originally released mid-season and is supposed to be a ‘here’s a who is who’ so far in the story, but I figured it works better as an introduction to the show. I also wanted something short to go between the larger novels and give myself some breathing space.
Content
As I said, this is just a ‘Who’s Who’ book, but with some world building stuff thrown into the mix. Not much though, sadly....
Most of the little blurbs and such, are just things you can see in the show yourself. There’s nothing really here to flesh out the characters or the world; no additional tidbits or factoids, no added story, no activities for what is suppose to be an activity book. It’s kind of bland, and I can see now why the fans don’t really talk about it.
The most interesting thing about the book is what it gets wrong.
Varian, Quirin, and Ruddgier are called the ‘Ruddiger Family’, as if they consciously named themselves after their pet raccoon...
Tumblr media
And then they get both Herz der Sonne’s and General Shampanier’s names wrong. Calling them Herr Tazon and General Champagne... I kid you not, It’s Champagne.
Tumblr media
If this book was scheduled for a mid-season release, back when Queen for a Day was still intended to come after One Angry Princess, then Under Raps may not have been fully finalized by the time it was published.
Yet most interesting to me, is that The Great Science Expo is implied to be an annual event in the book. But, like, wouldn’t Varian had won like nearly every year then? Yet the judge seems to barely know him? What would have prevented Varian from participating previous years?
I personally would like to think that the Great Expo is a rotating event within the seven kingdoms. Like it does happen every year, but each year its hosted else where. Which would mean that the last time the Expo came to Corona, it was held when Varian was seven and too young to enter.
Now, I’ve nothing to back that theory up, but it seems as plausible as anything else.
Presentation
The art work in the book is very uneven, at best. We get some nice background shots and a few new promotional images of the mains. I especially enjoy the page listing out Rapunzel’s outfits. But then you you also get a lot of repeated artwork that fans see touted in every merch.
Heck, that one image above of Varian is repeated twice within this same book, while the royal family portrait shows up on three separate occasions. Then there’s the fact that all the villain's models are shown in default mode...
Tumblr media
Everyone else at least has their models posing. Even minor characters, like the castle staff and the townspeople, at least were set up for their one promotional image. Yet, this, is lazy. Someone really dropped the ball here and it feels rushed.
Would I Recommend It
I don’t understand who this is for. There’s nothing here that you couldn’t learn just by watching the show or reading a Wikipedia page to catch yourself up with. If this had perhaps been released between the pilot and the first episode, as a way to generate hype, I could understand it, but it was instead a midseason release, so none of this would have been new information to most audiences at the time.
I guess if you lived overseas and couldn’t get the episodes till later, and for whatever reason didn’t have internet access, then maybe this might have had value then.... Only, its even harder to get merch like this overseas anyways so... Not to mention, that none of that is relative now that the series is over with.
I don’t know. I know a few people who like this book a lot, but I personally fail to see the appeal. This is the first thing I’ve come across in the marathon that I would recommend skipping over.
Next Up
We’ll be looking at our second original novel and first series based original novel to boot. Here’s hoping that’s better than the last book. Next is Rapunzel and the Lost Lagoon.

Note
1,2,3, 10, 12
1. of the fic you’ve written, which are you most proud of?
(( That would definitely be The Potter!verse.
A 200,000+ word story that followed the timeline of Harry’s adventures at Hogwarts across all 7 school years… but focused on characters based on my Tenth Doctor and his friends from other blogs here on Tumblr. It incorporated dozens of fandoms, melding them into Jo’s universe, and wove in amongst canon events while still telling an arc all its own. People were so inspired by it as I was writing it over six months that they wrote their own side chapters, and these informed my core story in their own turn, sometimes drastically affecting the direction of the metaplot! It was mine and I finished it and yet we still wrote it together and that will always be what I call my greatest literary triumph. We did the impossible and that made us mighty.
Even if I never get published in the traditional sense, I will be able to look back from my deathbed at that shining moment and know I had what it took, and I will always be grateful for that chance.
Now, I just need to finish the sequel… ))
2. favorite tense (past/present/future)
(( I almost exclusively gravitate towards past tense for writing, though I’ll switch to present tense if someone else is using it– though I often have trouble switching back and forth, it takes a lot of proofreading. I have on occasion employed future tense for prophecies, foreshadowy hints at future events, or that sort of thing, but I don’t believe I’ve ever written a full-length story in that tense. ))
3. favorite POV (first/second/third/etc)
(( Again, almost exclusively, I write in third person. I wrote a lot in first person in middle school, but I guess I lost the taste for it as I matured, even to the point that I’m cringing at writing this OOC from my own perspective– I have trouble even reading first person now unless it’s really well-written, though I’ve been fortunate to encounter and work with fic-writers who employ it to that deft degree. ))
10. what are your strengths wrt writing?
(( Okay, now I’m cringing. Uh– instinctively, I want to say… none?
But I think I do really well at action sequences– I’m told I use short quick bursts of sentences when lots of things are happening in very quick succession or a lot of things are happening at once, but I can also take time to precisely articulate pivotal moments. Indeed, precisely articulating pivotal action moments was kind of what got me sucked into writing prose (and in general) in the first instance, being able to “show” people the vivid images in my head without the ability to render them via art or other means.
I have a lot of fun writing dialogue, especially if I’m writing multiple characters playing off of each other. I’ve been criticized that I write my characters too witty and that no-one in real life is really that quick off the cuff with each other, but whatever, I have some awesome witty exchanges with my friends and besides which they’re fun to read!
I also have lots of big cosmic forward-thinking ideas… I like to know where a story is leading and to plant seeds to set it up early on, but this can snag on the fact that online stories are so very rarely actually finished before ending up in Lucien’s Library– especially by me. ))
12. what’s your favorite place for writing resources?
(( I don’t do a lot of reading or research on writing theory. Maybe I should. A lot of the pointers that have floated by me on the dashboard here have been super helpful.
Mostly I just write. Write like Hell. Learn by doing. Fail and try again to find what works.
And while I don’t read as much as I used to, I have read some masters. Gaiman, King, Koontz, Rowling, Tolkien, Lewis, Seuss, T.H. White– there’s no-one you can’t learn from. Someone said you should read three times as much as you write, and that is fantastic advice. I wish I had the time and attention span to be able to do that!
(Along those lines, immersing myself in source material is the single greatest resource I can think of for fanfickers. Canons and Wikis. Just live and breathe the stuff– I basically attended Hogwarts for the six months I wrote The Potter!verse, and it was electric. People respect that attention to detail– the facial tics, the side riffs, source material is worth its weight in gold-pressed latinum.
And I try to stay as open as I can to constructive criticism from trusted friends. It’s amazing when friends are validating and supportive, and I have been oh so very blessed in that respect. But to get help from someone who genuinely cares about you as a human and as a writer in shoring up something you’re not as good at, that is a miracle thing.
People are the greatest resource, and I know the best people. ))
