#I saw daffy do this and I was like 'this scene is WACK what is happening here there's too much information and it's unclear'

I watched this religiously as a kid, I know this scene by heart, yet it continues to baffle me to this day. Bugs is paying attention, if not nonchalantly looking off to the distance (he's not really making eye contact with either of the leads). I'm guessing Bug's movements were largely done by the tweening crew since he kinda... floats between his two key poses. It's not really appealing, but at least he's not in a Hold.

Daffy's movements are believable at first, he tries to play innocent to the cartoonish gag they just pulled off and rolls his eyes towards... Bugs? then he does a take and then does That Thing with his eyes.

What even was the direction for Daffy's movements? The pacing is too quick for the audience to take in tbh, since it cuts immediately to Bugs interjecting with Plot Talk. I'm more confused than anything with the acting choices for Daffy, either the crew wanted to sneak something in to be funny or... honestly I have no idea, maybe throwing a bone by somewhat mirroring the romanticism in the air??? I'm not sure what Daffy's actions are saying. I’m 80% sure they didn’t mean for this to be a “A isn’t paying attention and is being admired by B”. So, it would read better if he looked to the actors like Bugs is doing. Daff’s pose is dynamic enough that it won’t read as symmetrical, I’m sure. He’s already got a solid secondary motion with his hands brushing his feathers, we don’t need a take in there lmao.

Bc honestly, Daffy’s take is stereotypical for love interests even though throughout the whole movie, they're not depicted as such. like, At ALL. ugh, maybe? if you squint. If you count Bug's teasings like "if I know Daffy.." "my Daffy..." and "Daffy'll save us. ~He's the hero~" But Daffy's annoyed by Bugs more than anything, Bugs teases him bc he knows Daff will react wildly. Come to think of it, Daffy's the only character Bugs will break his "calm when left alone" demeanor. Bugs actively ticks Daffy off whether he instigated something or not. Hm, interesting. No wonder Daff is tired from Bugs in this movie lmao. Now this scene makes even LESS sense given their relational context in the movie. I WENT OFF ON A TANGENT lemme end this here before I write a damn essay

I cant get over that one scene in looney tunes back in action where Daffy did that stupid *A looks at B when they’re not looking* bit.
