Ya know the name Ian used to be in my mental list of name options just in case I ever end up having kids, always thought it was a good name... that has obviously changed bc I can no longer hear that name and not have vivid flashbacks from the storm
#I know ever since the storm the psychology of severe weather has become fascinating and deeply personal to me#I know of people who have experienced ptsd panic attacks during normal thunder storms now#literally a week to day after the storm was the first time it rained#since the hurricane#and so many people myself included couldn't help but like... feel weird and feel anxious? almost#I remember making an offhand comment to a coworker like 'its been a week to the exact hour since water started coming up my street'#there not happening as frequently now thank goodness but I still have the occasional nightmare where#it's like there's an impending doom and I have to flee from ~something~#eh don't mind this post just more trauma-venting about hurricane Ian#it helps tbh

bradley was born in a small town in maine. at the time, everything he thought was normal for a child to endure. now that heâs older, he knows it isnât. growing up, he was a trained liar. he doesnât like lying now but can spit one out faster and smoother than heâd like to admit. his mother was naive and so young and his father was cruel and lived in the world only for himself. never a good combination.
there were a lot of times bradley would go to school with no food. he would always say he rushed out of the house and forgot because he slept in. his father spent all the grocery money to drink. bradley would fall asleep at school. he would always say itâs because heâs scared of the dark. he was actually scared of his father and would spend the night in his bedroom closet that could lock. bradley would cry and flinch at loud noises and the sound of glass crashing. he would say itâs because heâs just like a deer, easily scared. his father would throw things at him if he so much as stepped out of line (but bradley never knew what that line was). he would endure it all for his mother, who would sometimes come into his room, scoop him up in her arms when things calmed down, and sing to him. itâs these moments heâd remember fondly, the moments where she managed to keep some money for herself and get a good supper for the two.
it truly felt like it was him and his mother against the world. there were a few times where bradley would slip up, say something wrong at school, make an offhand comment about home to his friend, and child services would get involved. however, his father would clean up for these visits. his mother couldâve been an amazing movie actress, as well. bradley was also on his way there â but it was his mistake that they all pretended. he would always get punished for it later.Â
sometimes the arguing would get too much. when he cried enough tears from inside the closet, he would run. run to his uncleâs house. heâd ask to stay for a few days. his uncle always said yes. but this would always spell trouble in the long run. his uncle was rowdy, always trying to get his sister out of such a terrible situation, and would butt his head whenever he got a chance. his uncle would often make the fighting worse. all bradley needed was a break, though, he promised.
he was almost finished high school. he took up odd jobs if he wasnât in school so he didnât pass with stellar grades or anything. some were even impressed that he managed to end up on the graduation list at all. he had saved up enough money, between him and his mother, to eventually leave his father. there was a light at the end of the tunnel. but, once again, the fighting became too much.
this time, he stayed at a friendâs house. he always had his money on him. he couldnât trust the nooks and crannies of that house, his father would always worm his slimy fingers into them. he always blamed himself for not staying at his uncleâs that night... or even at home. because this time, the fighting really did become too much and things went too far.Â
a frantic call from his uncle in the dead of the night sent bradley on a frenzy. his father had beaten his mother so badly that she was hospitalized. put into a coma with extensive head trauma. bradley left his friendâs on account of emergency but didnât end up going to the hospital. no, no, no. it was the only time bradley could call himself his fatherâs son.
that same night, his father died in a car crash. the police ruled it as a collision involving drunk driving. though, there were damages that pointed towards another vehicle ramming into the car. there were no other vehicles on scene when they arrived and the road wasnât monitored to pull up security footage. however, the only next of kin his father had was bradley and his mother. everything fell onto bradley.
his father, at least, had some funds stashed away in a bank account. it was enough to cover the funeral. but not enough to cover the hospital fees. and bradley felt like he was going insane existing in the house he grew up in. he was going insane just being in the same town he grew up in. everybody seemed to know his business.
so, like he and his mother promised, he ran away. his uncle is the only one who knows his whereabouts now and bradley made him promise not to tell anyone else. but, instead of taking the whole amount, bradley only took half of what he and his mother saved. he used the other half to go towards his motherâs hospital bills.Â
bradley, now telling people to call him boog, drifted for a bit. picking up odd jobs for a week or two to feed himself. he needed to find a new home. he needed to be anywhere else but maine. now, he thought about the glamourous cities but felt like it didnât suit him. eventually, he came to irving. and he liked it. so he stayed here.
boog is called boog because he was a bit of a snotty kid. he was constantly ill with the common cold, linked directly to his home situation. he often had sinus infections because of it. so, mean kids would often call him âboogerâ. eventually, booger became boog and it was just a part of him. he was a laidback individual and the nickname lost its insulting meaning by the time he reached high school but by then, most people called him by his surname. bradley feels too personal.Â
boog works two jobs, as well as doing several odd jobs around the neighborhood he settled in. he stocks at the local grocery store, working 3pm to 11pm. he also works at a midnight diner, working from 12am to 8am. he gets some sleep for the morning, then gets right back to it. on his days off, heâs often seen mowing other peopleâs lawn, cleaning cars and houses, and doing small fix-it jobs around properties. heâs a busybody for sure. but not only does he have to support himself, he has to make sure the hospital bills for his mother are being paid. after all these years, itâs still him and his mother against the world.Â
in the six years of being in irving, boog developed some nasty coping mechanisms. any time work became too overwhelming or he couldnât make a payment and was faced with a late fee, bradley felt like a failure to the point where he would engage in self-harm. he was alone mostly, other than at work or out with his friends, so it was a lot of time to wrestle with this idea that he wouldnât be enough to keep his mother alive. he would cut his biceps and thighs, places he could easily conceal his scars with t-shirts or shorts. he would cut at work in the menâs bathroom or cut in the closet of his bedroom. familiar places, places where he could hide.Â
however, it got out of hand when he cut too deep on his thigh and it affected the way he walked. the visible limp raised concern from coworkers, friends, and neighbors. finally done with lying, he admitted to self-harm to those he trusted. his friends encouraged him to go to counselling and to reach out when he felt the urge.
itâs been a year since heâs last self-harmed. since then, heâs covered his scars with band-aid tattoos, each of them a design from someone heâs felt close enough to tell about his progress. there are still some to be covered, but heâs always mused thereâs always friends to be made that could help him cover it up.
* / đ đ đ đ đ đ đ đ đ đ đ
boog is hardworking and determined and doesnât hesitate to push his limits. of course, this all comes to his physicality and his work ethic. heâs not all too bright, otherwise. he canât contest lifeâs many questions, heâs too busy memorizing regular orders, the truck order for the next night, and what his friendâs favourite things are. heâs a very present individual, in that he canât worry about the future or the past too much. and above all else, boog is kind.Â
he never asks for anything in return for the deeds he does. he always repays a favour. and he always extends a helping hand. he thinks being a neighborly person is the pinnacle of humanity and does his best to emulate that. however, that makes for some clashes with his dull mind, as he can often be mistaken or say the wrong thing. his gold heart does make up for his lack of brightness.
boog has also learned patience. patience with the world, patience with himself. he didnât get angry much before but when he did, it was pent up and built over years of being complacent. it was never a good thing to lose his temper. however, over the course of his regular counselling, he has learned to be more self-aware and express his frustrations in a healthy manner. his shoulders still bear a lot of burden but at least, he can learn to take off the load and rest for a while before putting it back on.Â
* / đ đ đ đ đ đ đ đ đ đ đ
band-aid crew â this person has designed a band-aid tattoo for boog. he reached out to this person during a time of recovery and trusted him with his journey thus far. this person could have been someone he met at work, through friends, or they live on the same block as him. boog counted and needs 27 band-aids to cover all his scars and is confident that he can get them all covered through othersâ artwork. his uncle and nieces already made their mark, and boog designed one himself. ( 0/22 )
upstanding citizen â this person is the parental figure that boog never had and didnât realize he needed until he befriended this person. they fuss over him and make sure heâs gotten enough sleep. they bring him coffee to work and invite him over for dinner. in return, boog does the same. he tries hard to cook for themâ though heâs not great at it. he brings them gifts that reminded him of them. ( 0/1 )
intimacy buddies â boog is kind of pure in that heâs someone who wants to make sure people feel fulfilled. it first started off as a joke, that on the chance that they felt lonely, boog would be of service. however, boogâs pretty dependable and he hides no ulterior motive. so, he cuddles them for hours while watching movies, he holds their hands as they walk through the beach, and he sleeps with them when they canât stand to sleep alone. he runs his hands through their hair upon request. however, theyâre still friends and as thick as thieves. ( 0/3 )
amicable exes â itâs hard for boog to hold grudges. they come in white hot flashes of anger and they leave just as quickly. heâs learned to no longer stew in it. when this relationship falls apart, boog can admit his shortcomings and understand that they just werenât meant for each other. that doesnât stop boog from caring about them any less. theyâre friends now and maybe friends was always the better option. ( 0/1 )
SPECIAL MENTIONS: as always, i fiend for all sorts of friendly and fwb connections! i also think a rival connection wld b interesting but we wld hav to lay some groundwork for sure!

Iâm currently listening to like, old FNAF songs because nostalgia and theyâre fuckinâ bops yâall donât @ me.
Anyways, because of this, I new prompt/oneshot came to mind. The Batfam somehow end up being kidnapped and they enter a version (of the version) of the first (or whichever game) FNAF game.
Like, say that the creator of the game was a Robotics engineer who had hopes of creating a game. So, they create this horror game, and get hella into it, so much so they wrote books, created a sort of real life version of it (miniature tho) and etc etc. Then the Dev presents the game to another branch of the company they work at and it gets shut down. They get laughed at and everything being told that the game would never succeed and etc etc. And adding onto the Developerâs tragic backstory is that they got back stabbed and got their designs stolen by a coworker and got fired for whatever reason.
Anyways, the Developer not only got humiliated, got their work stolen but they even got fired from their dream job. Resentment breeds and then they cronstructe a real life version of the game(s) they created. They went so far as to stay as close to their games lore (in FNAF the animatronics were possessed by kids, same thing applies here). So, this Creator got jilted, back stabbed and humiliated and went a bit crazy and killed a couple kids who âpossessedâ the animatronics (the kids could actually possess the animatronics or not, up to yâall, but letâs say in this prompt/oneshot, that they did).
Anyways, letâs say Red Hood heard about five kids from Crime Alley that went missing in the exact same location at different dates. This catches his eye and he researches it some more. The more he researches the more he finds out. For one, more then ten kids went missing at this one location (which is this kids pizzeria party hall). Jason, whose known to protect kids, especially if theyâre from Crime Alley or are street kids. But, he finds these series of suspected kidnappings/disappearance of these kids really particular. Something is off and he wants to investigate it.
Switch to Red Robinâs POV were heâs out on patrol and finds crates full of various mechanical/robotic parts. Heâs, rightfully so, confused as all hell and tries to investigate were the fuck these robotic parts are being shipped and who shipped them. Unfortunately, he couldnât find anything of substance as whoever ordered these hid their tracks very well. He takes a couple of the parts to analyze back at the Batcave/the Nest. He opens a couple more crates but finds other shit, like painting equipment, marble titles, plaster and other shit that is usually used when someone is renovating a place. They all have the same markings and the like and RR is confused but starts to suspect that one of the Rogues might be up to something. He also has a theory that this might be the work of a new, and upcoming Rogue as the stuff he found doesnât fit any of their current Rogues MO but he doesnât ignore the possibility this might be one of their other Rogues work.
Then we switch to Batmanâs POV where he was working a different case but then notices something. He notices that someone is skimming money (a fuck load of money) off of this one companies branch and no ones noticed as its covered up pretty well (but Batman caught some minor, but significant inconsistencies). He tried to track the money transcations as heâs worried one of the Rogues might be planning something or something akin to that. The more he digs, the less he can find because everything leads back to shell companies and to stuff that doesnât exist. The trail is covered up pretty well but this is Batman, heâs the worlds greatest Detective so he manages to find out that the money is being used to buy... paint, titles, chairs, and various other household renovating items? Heâs a bit confused but then thinks that this might be Mad Hatter but when he looks into all the stuff thatâs being bought, it doesnât fit Mad Hatters Wonderland Aesthetic/MO. Still, he keeps on eye on the transactions.
Cut to Nightwing & Robin out in BlĂźdhaven. Theyâre out on biweekly patrol together. Itâs a rather slow night but Robin and Nightwing are having fun (and bonding ofc!). Then, at one point, when the duo stop a mugging, the lady that they saved made an offhand comment about some kids going missing. Robinâs instinct goes off and he asks the woman whats sheâs talking about. The woman explains that some street kids she knew from her job at a youth center just stopped coming. She chalks itâs up to her paranoia but she thinks they might have been nabbed. Nightwing cuts in and offers to walk the woman home which they do. Robin is thinking back on the womanâs comment about a few âmissingâ street kids. He tries to rationalize it as these kids probably just leaving or ending up in a Dention Center but he canât help but think about it. He remembers something RH said about street kids going missing at this one specific place. He canât stop thinking about throughout the rest of his and Nightwings patrol. Nightwing notices that Robin isnât very focused so he asks what wrong. Robin dances around the topic but eventually does tell Nightwing whatâs on his mind.
âThat woman we saved earlier said something that stuck with me.â
Nightwing raises his eyebrow. âWhat did she say that stuck with you?â Nightwing knew that trusting ones gut instinct is important. Thereâs a reason why somethingâs that might send alarms off. He just hoped Damian could trust those instincts.
âShe offhandedly remarked about missing kids. She told us that some kids she knew from the youth center she worked at havenât showed up in three months. I remembered, earlier something that Red Hood said about streets kids going missing from a specific location, all at varying times.â
Nightwing is a bit surprised, but heâs heard Jason talk about the case. He makes a note to investigate the missing kids in here and compare notes with Jason afterwards. He has a feeling that the missing kids in âHaven might be related to the one in Gotham (considering street kids are the ones going missing. That stuck out to him). He reassures Robin that heâll investigate it, and Robin replies that he wants in. Dick sighs but letâs him (itâs be a great bonding experience! No matter how morbid in retrospect...).
Batgirl (Stephanie!) is out on patrol with Red Robin when they talk about any recent activity theyâve seen. Red Robin makes an offhand comment about how he found crates filled with house renovating shit but he couldnât trace them back to anyone. Batgirl stops, as she remembered when two weeks back she was at the Harbor and found crates filled with tech and... house renovating stuff. Batgirl then asks Red Robin for the serial number that the crates had, heâs but confused but tells her. Batgirl then realizes, those weird ass crates she found and she couldnât trace back were the same one Red Robin were investigating. She tells him this, and tells him that she found were one of the crates were being hauled off to. They both decide to cut patrol short (it was almost finished either way, but tonight was uncharacteristically quiet). They both head off to Red Robinâs Nest. They both exchange info about the weird ass crates and theories. Batgirl thinks that this might be the work of a new up and coming Rogue as everything she found in the crates doesnât suit any of their current Rogues MO. Tim agrees with her, but canât find anyone that could be their new Rogue.
Now with everyone having different cases, which are all interlocked together letâs get into...
Five Nights At Genniâs
Ft. The Batfam, the Developer, FNAF Case Fic AU, fuck canon because everyone is on pretty good terms, Lots of Dead Kids (đ), And Scary Ass Probably Possessed Animatronics!
COMING SOON!
because Iâm to lazy to continue on with the prompt/oneshot but Iâll finish it donât worry lol
Now, if anyone wants to write a whole ass AU case fix stemming from this prompt/oneshot, go ahead! Iâd honestly love to read the Batfam try and piece together the FNAF lore, while within the game itself, while trying to figure who tf is doing all this shit. Itâs perfect for like, writing a great case fic, an exploration of the Batfamâs relationship and the Batfam themselves. But, it doesnât have to be serious! Like, if yâall donât want to write the part about several dead kids and want to write a semi crack fic centered around the Batfam being within the FNAF games then go for it!
Anyone who sees this, tag your fav Batfam writer! Because I havenât found when fics where the Batfam ever interact with the FNAF games (whether them as actual games or something like what I wrote above). Iâd love to see their takes on this prompt!

Press F (Instagram/College AU) Ch.14
Eliott may be all that; rich, handsome, instagram famousâ but the basic plebe inside comes out to play when his crush follows him from out of nowhere.
Or: Press F but Eliottâs POV
Parting is such sweet sorrow has gained a whole new meaning as Eliott stands in front of Lucas, bouncing back and forth on his heels in a bid to stall some more before he truly has to go.Â
âYou really donât want me to stay with you until Yann comes back?â He finally pushes out the question, brows furrowing in concern despite the reassuring smile Lucas gives him.Â
âIâll be fine, Eliott.â Lucas picks Champ up from the ground when she starts spinning around in place, looking about ready to lay down and have a nap right at their feet. âGo see your mom.â
"I mean... sheâll probably survive one day without eating my dadâs cooking.â he reasons, pouting when Lucas gives him an exasperated look.Â
âBring your mom her rightful lunch, just like you told your dad you would. I donât want there to be any reason for them to hate me.âÂ
âThatâs impossible, they already love you.â
Lucas pauses, bottom lip caught behind his teeth as he looks up at Eliott uncertainly. âReally?â
Eliott softens, sighing out a quiet, âReally.â His hands move on their own accord, brushing against the line of Lucasâ jaw. He canât imagine how a single person in this universe could ever be capable of hating Lucas.Â
âReally, really?âÂ
âReally, really.â
âCool. You really, really have to go now, though.â Lucas laughs, nuzzling into Eliottâs hands like that would help his case.Â
âOkay, but if you need me for anything at all, youâve gotta promise to tell me.â The grip he has on Lucas tightens just a little, firm enough to have his boyfriend tipping his head back to see the resolve in Eliottâs eyes. âI mean it. Anything.âÂ
Lucas can honestly ask him to do his grocery shopping right here right now and Eliott would undoubtedly agree. Hell, if Lucas tells him that the windows rattling from the wind bothers him, heâd drop everything and run back to him. Eliott has no qualms about the lengths heâd go to protect Lucas, to keep him feeling safe.Â
Champ yips, gazing happily up at Eliott as a comfortable silence embraces them otherwise, the sight of Lucasâ precious smile warming the crystallizing fear creeping up on him. The mere prospect of leaving his boyfriend alone for hours until Yann gets back is frankly a no go in Eliottâs books but he understands that Lucas might need some space, and Eliott has his own responsibilities to uphold.Â
Fuck if it doesnât scare him, though. The atrocious start to their weekend has really done a number on him.Â
âI promise,â Lucas whispers eventually, leaning up to kiss the beginnings of a frown off of Eliottâs lips.Â
Eliott watches him carefully, running a thumb over the shadowed smudge under Lucasâ eyes. Heâd waited until Lucas fell asleep first before slipping into dream land himself, but Lucas had already been awake by the time Eliott next opens his eyesâ and Eliott is an early riser. He forces himself not to dwell on it, he had been privy to an offhanded comment about Lucasâ complicated relationship with sleep before so maybe this morning is nothing out of the ordinary.Â
âAlright, Iâll see you later.â Stooping down for another kiss, Eliott lets this one linger a little longer, breathing in once they pull away and brushing a final kiss to Lucasâ forehead. He peels his hands off of him, squishing Champâs tiny head in between his palms to make up for how his mind is screaming for him to hold on. âYouâll take care of him for me, right tough girl?â She licks his hands in enthusiastic answer.Â
Lucas snorts out a laugh. âYou take care, donât miss your stop or youâll get back too late.â Â
âYes, sir.â Eliott playfully salutes as he walks backwards, stopping just out of reach before he gestures towards Lucasâ still closed door. âWell? Iâm not leaving until youâre inside.â
Heâs expecting the eye roll that comesâ itâs sweet and fond, familiar. The exact kind Eliott craves to soothe his fraying edges.Â
Lucas turns around once heâs inside, grinning at Eliott and blowing an exaggerated kiss in his direction. Itâs so ridiculous that Eliottâs laugh is ripped right out of him, loud and startled, echoing in the empty hallways, nipping at the sound of Lucasâ door shutting with a heavy bang.Â
All alone, he finds himself despondent, kicking imaginary dirt off the floor as he trudges on with a pathetic pout. Thereâs no proper way to explain this feelingâ theyâve literally almost managed to hole themselves up in Eliottâs apartment the entire weekend. Itâs not like Eliott can help it, though, he did just get Lucas back and his needy little melodramatic heart misses his boyfriend for every minute they arenât together.
He drags himself out of Lucasâ apartment building with visible difficulty, feet shuffling against the rough gravel below his feet all the way through his journey to the bus stop.Â
Itâs going to take him quite a while to get to his motherâs office without a car. Usually, his father has no problem dropping by himself, but heâd answered a favour for an old coworker out in Lyon and will probably be stuck there until the next morning.Â
In a not so shocking turn of events, his mother forgets to take her ready packed lunch to work without his father being present to remind her of it. And obviously thatâs an abomination, she canât go without a homemade lunch Eliott, sheâd get so hungry and her brain wonât be as sharp as usual, her work ethic would suffer because of it. Eliott had cut off his papaâs rambling with a groan and a reluctant agreement to bring the goddamn sandwich to its rightful owner just so the guy would stop worrying already. Hopeless romantic runs thick in the blood of the Demauries apparently.Â
adam.fk plans today??
idrisomd sleep
abebkhellal oof yeahÂ
emir.yous buncha boring old men
omarions says you?? didnât you spend fall break last year learning how to play chess lmao
emir. yous we donât talk about that
idrisomd shut up emir not everyone is a free bird like you I was editing some stuff and I realized I need that dumb triangle still lol eliott can I borrow yours pls
emir.yous maybe if you donât procrastinate youâd have more free time I thought you were keeping that triangle??
idrisomd maybe if you shut up youâd get more dates I had to sacrifice it for the greater good
Eliott laughs under his breath, contemplating whether he should add his two cents into the conversation. In the end, he keeps to himself for now, reading through the childish banter that inevitably starts up.
The triangle, huh. Heâs glad the bus is mostly empty at present, else the giggling he canât quite suppress wouldâve probably worried some people. Fucking unbelievable, really. Itâs ridiculous how it all started, now that he thinks about it. It feels like a lifetime has gone by since then.
Eliott still remembers it, vividly. That moment he set his eyes on Lucas. Itâs the week before their new semester officially startsâ a Thursday to be specific. He and his friends are scrambling around frantically attempting to maximize their remaining days of freedom to get ahead on his and Idrisâ new film project.
âProps.â
âProps?â
âYeah, weâre missing some props.â
Eliott struggles with the cardboard boxes heâs dragging behind himâ theyâre saving all the money they can by building the set for filming themselves. The rest of the guys get pulled into the fray, as always, so itâs a bit of a disaster when theyâre all going around picking up stray cardboard and styrofoam just in case they need it for later.
âWhatâs the thing you were talking about earlier?â Abe snaps his fingers, trying to recall everything they need before leaving campus.
Idris jumps. âThe triangle!â
âWhat do we need a triangle for?â Adam asks, fumbling with the styrofoam cups heâs balancing in one hand.
âFor that one scene in the forest.â
âThereâs a scene in the forest?â Omar pipes up from behind their circle, returning from the storage room where heâd gone to dig out some black garbage bags they can borrow.
âWell, itâs Emirâs backyard but whatever.â Eliott mutters, scratching things off of their checklist. âCanât we just fake the triangle sounds?â
âToo much effort for a little scene. Donât you have one at yours?â
âYeah, but my place is out of the way, itâll take too much time going there and then to Emirâs.â He shrugs, tapping the pen against his chin. âWe can take the one from the theatre.â
Emir gives him a look. âWe are not stealing the orchestraâs triangle.â
âNobody will miss it,â Abe dismisses, already walking off to load their things in his car.
âWhat if someone tells the director itâs missing?â
âEmir, who would notice a missing triangle?â Idris raises his hands as he talks, incredulous at the question. âWhen you watch your classic live shows, do you hear anyone go oh, yes, the triangle was on point today? No you donât, cause nobody gives a fuck about the goddamn triangle, man. Eliott, can you please grab us the triangle so we can get outta here?â
âIf we get in trouble, I get plausible deniability,â Emir mumbles defiantly. Eliott snorts, patting Emir on the shoulder on his way out.
The theatre is only a short jog away from the parking lot so Eliott slips through the doors in no time, rooting around backstage for the instrument. He finds the little thing buried underneath a broken flute and a... tambourine?
Single piano notes echo along the walls without warning, and Eliott jumps from his crouch, heart beating fast from shock. He doesnât run, though, because whoever is out there is obviously not going to spot him if theyâre preoccupied with playing the piano.
Heâs just about to leave again, grab his stolen goods and sneak his way back out, when the aimless piano notes begin to blend together with effortless flow, a sudden transition tickling his ears so pleasantly that Eliott canât bring his feet to move along more than two steps at a time. Transfixed, he walks closer to the curtain, curious as to who would play such a beautiful melody so delicately.
Eliott has always wished life would be as easy as the films he's grown up watchingâ with twists and turns that cause crushing moments, yes, but with the comfort of a happy ending to cushion against the pain through it all. Heâs always dreamt of something cliche to happen to him once in his life. Maybe he could win the lottery and live the rest of his life as a billionaire. Maybe he could meet someone so inspiring heâd gain the courage to pack up and explore the world with nothing but a boat and backpack. Maybe he could fall in love at first sight
The boy on the piano is turned sideways but Eliott can clearly see him from where heâs hidden behind the curtain. The smile on his face is plain adorable and the way heâs swinging his feet under the piano (heâs not even using the piano pedals and it still sounds so good) goes straight to Eliottâs heart.
His feet carry him forward, as if entranced, so helplessly drawn into the boyâs gravityâ
âStop,â the boy says, laughing. Eliott stops, startled. âYouâre gonna ruin it, Yann,â his angel continues, head swinging to the side where another person who Eliott has apparently not seen is sitting.
The other guy, Yann, laughs too, picking up a violin. âNo I swear, I can do it. I took classes once, remember?â
âYeah, like ten years ago and you quit after two days.â
The two boys giggle at each other and the angel stops playing, attention fully on Yann. Thereâs a profound affection in the way they interact together, which makes glum little stones fall heavy against the bottom of Eliottâs stomach.Â
Jesus, he needs to calm down. He doesnât even know the boyâs name yet.
His phone vibrates in his pocket and Eliottâs glad heâs forgotten to put the ringer back on. He doesnât know how heâd explain it if the two boys catch him skulking around backstage.
Eliott runs out of the theatre soon after, remembering how pressed for time he and the guys already are. He tries to put the thought of the boy behind him, making vague hand gestures in lieu of explaining what delayed his return when the guys question him.
He fails miserably.
The bus lurches and Eliott almost drops his phone, fingers grappling for a firm hold on the screen as it slips and slides from the abrupt movement. He still has the group chat with the guys open so the scrabble has him accidentally scrolling up, up, up around a month back.
When he looks down at the screen, he's taken right back to that delightful moment Lucas had unknowingly caused back then.
The doors open and close, one person exiting but a whole crowd entering right after. Eliott presses himself more comfortably into his back seat corner and settles a hand over his mouth, covering the widening grin stretching his lips as he reads through his own moronic words.
Good god, looking back on it now is hilarious, but Eliott will never forget the all consuming panic heâd felt at the time.
Eliott exits out of the chat, frantically scrolling down his barrage of notifications to stare reverently at the one that matters most.Â
lucallemant started following you
Itâs almost two hours past midnight, with him having just finished up the sketch for the side project heâs working on by himself. Heâs been looking forward to falling into bed ages ago but now heâs wide awake, brain swirling with jumbled thoughts and with no hope of falling asleep within the next second.

srodulv has left the chat
A bunch of useless hooligans, those guys are. He needs better friends.
His phone pings with more notificationsâ Idris has added him back in the group chat but Eliott ignores the messages for now, knowing full well that thereâd be nothing but more of them poking fun at his current dilemma.
He opens up Lucasâ profile, heart palpitating as his thumb hovers over the follow button. Looking at the boyâs feed brings him the same mix of apprehension and fondness, as always. The latter because heâs an idiot who apparently falls head over heels for snippy little piano players and the former because, wellâ
Iâm sorry, bro. I saw something, I think theyâre maybe together? Iâm still not a hundred percent on it, though.
Eliott sighs, clicking on Lucasâ latest post, of that guy playing the guitar for him. He scoffs, he can play the guitar too. He can even do the Star Wars theme song. On the guitar and the piano. Lucas needs to see that heâs the better choice over here. Â
He lets his screen go dark, closing his eyes as he urges himself to relax. It is quite an ungodly hour to be awake so he drops his phone on the bed, turns over, and hopes that morning comes with a newfound game plan to get the love of his life to love him back.
The good news is that morning does come, but the bad news is that all the plans he comes up with throughout the day are steaming piles of shit.Â
âI think Iâm in love,â he blurts out, sitting in the basement of Emirâs house. Idris is standing on the couch, trying to cover the ceiling spotlights with printer paper so as to âdullâ its luminosity. Adam and Omar are struggling to hold up some desk lamps while Abe holds coloured file folders over the bulb, changing the colour of the lights for the correct âambianceâ. Emir is elbow deep in crushed styrofoam pieces.
They all exchange looks of confusion before Abe goes for a hesitant, âUh... just now?â
Eliott scowls, waving a hand as if theyâre so stupid to be unable to read his mind. He gestures to his phone, still open to Lucasâ Instagram page.Â
"Oh yeah! Any progress on that front?â Idris hops down, eyes glued to the ceiling as he backs up, slowly as if one wrong move could shake the house so much that his pieces of paper would dislodge themselves.Â
âNo.â Eliott pouts, flailing his legs in unashamed frustration.Â
âOkay, well, have you followed back?â Adam asks, twining some rope around the lamp once theyâve figured out the best angle to go with.Â
âNo. Shit,â Eliott hisses, sitting upright and immediately hitting the follow button. Heâs been so focused on figuring out how to start a conversation with his angel that heâs neglected to think of much else.
One of them sighs, but Eliott doesnât bother to look up at the sound of it.Â
âSo what are you gonna do next?â Emir abandons his crumbly work of art, now sitting cross legged across from Eliott.Â
âHeâs vague posting.â Idris grins, scrolling through his phone. âOoh, Polaris. When did you even sneak off to take this? That caption though. Much mystery, so cool.âÂ
âShut up, itâs an old picture.â Eliott throws a couch cushion at him, then proceeds to slide onto the floor, diving flat on his stomach closer to the guys, as he comes up with the most brilliant idea. âWhat if Iâm not?â
âHuh?â Abe goes to sit on the floor as well.
âWhat if Iâm not cool or mysterious? Would that get him to talk to me?â Eliottâs thumbs are working on overdrive before the words are fully out of his mouth, scrolling down each and every one of Lucasâ photos and hitting like on as many of them as he can manage.Â
He looks up just it time to see the dawning realization on Abeâs face. âNo!â he screams in horror, reaching out to snatch the phone from Eliottâs hands. âNo, youâ oh man, you guys, he did a weird thing.âÂ
âItâs not weird,â Eliott dismisses, trying to retrieve his phone back but every attempt is slapped away by the annoying people he unfortunately calls friends. âItâs called reaching out.â
Idris is cackling, bent over in half as Abe shakes his head in wonder. âThatâs kinda genius, though? How very Eliott of you,â Idris gasps out once heâs done wheezing up a lung.Â
âHeâs getting the Eliott experience way too early in the relationship.â Omar mumbles, curiously going through the rest of Lucasâ older posts. âAw, cute.âÂ
Eliott scrambles towards them, wanting to see which post Omarâs referring to despite the fact that heâs seen every single photo twice over.Â
His hand slowly creeps up above the phone and double taps on the post.
âOh my god, someone restrain him.â Adam says, dragging a hand down his face. He sounds like heâs trying his hardest not to laugh which is more than what he can say for the rest of them so Eliott appreciates his effort.Â
âCome on, Eli monkey, time to break off from Insta for a bit, hm?â Idris walks forward, still chuckling as he tries to pull Eliott off the ground and away from his stolen phone.
Eliott wraps his arms around Idrisâ ankles, almost making the latter fall on his face in the process. âBut heâs so beautiful.â
âYes, yes.â
âHis eyelashes are the 8th wonder of the world.â
Thereâs a collective groan from everyone in the room and then Eliott feels a placating hand patting the top of his bowed head. âYes, we get it. But you gotta get up now, lover boy. Weâve got shit to film.â
By the time his stop comes up, Eliott has to squeeze himself past a godawful amount of passengers. He gets itâs break week for a lot of the students but considering itâs a Monday afternoon, Eliott is of the opinion that there really shouldnât be this many people out and about.Â
His motherâs office is a towering structure of reflective glass and one way windows. Eliott pushes at the revolving doors, nods a smile towards the reception desk, and settles into one of the many armchairs in the lounge area. He shoots a message for his mama to come meet him downstairs and doesnât wait for a response before switching tabs to pull up the film heâs been wanting to see all day. Initially, heâs planned on seeing it with Lucas, knowing that itâs just the right amount of lengthy and boring (for his boyfriendâs taste) to have Lucas cuddling for a nap on his shoulder instead.
But alas, his plans are impeded by none other than his loving parents. Again. He still hasnât quite forgiven them for poking fun at him being grumpy at brunch after that first night heâd spent with Lucas.Â
About ten minutes in, someone walks towards him and sits directly across from Eliottâs armchair, never mind that the entire lounge area is devoid of any other person than the two of them.Â
Eliott doesnât pay it much mind, unmuting his phone speakers just loud enough for him to hear the background music coming from the filmâ he wants to record the sound and see if that kind of music score would work well for the mini project heâs planning to put up in the future.Â
The stranger lets out a faint chuckle but Eliott ignores him, watching the minutes rise on the recording to make sure that he doesnât miss a single note. Never let it be said that Eliott doesnât take his films seriously.Â
âFancy seeing you here.â
Violence is never at the forefront of Eliottâs mind. In fact, he thinks it doesnât solve much, and should be considered as the last resort. But as life would have it, there are always a few exceptions to the rule and unfortunately for his good mood, the sole exception heâs found in his twenty one years of existence has decided that today is the day that Eliott will commit murder.Â
Eliottâs eyes flick to where Raphael relaxes back in his seat, legs crossed and fingers delicately twined in his lapâ to any outside viewer, he truly looks the perfect representation of an educated, well-bred gentleman. Eliott sees why people are drawn him.
âFancy isnât the right word,â he says, just as casual. He pauses the film, music cutting off just in time for him to hear another one of Raphaelâs grating chuckles. âWhy are you here?â The answer is obvious; pressed slacks and dark suit a dead give away. He remembers Lucas mentioning that Raphael works in a law firm but Eliott needs to hear it, to make sure that fate has really handed this opportunity over on a silver platter.Â
Raphael spreads his arms. âI work here,â he answers, smug. âWhat about you? Someone trying to pin murder on you?â
Funny how heâs asking that, but Eliott doesnât answer his question. âNew York too much for you, huh.âÂ
Eliott watches the minute narrowing of Raphaelâs eyes, taking pleasure in the fact that the guy hasnât expected Lucas to divulge their story in such detail.Â
âNew York was great, actually, they offered me a spot there as well but eh, I need to think about it.â Raphael leans forward, elbows on knees as he brings one hand up to rub across his lips, faux thoughtful. âI left a little something behind here.â He looks at Eliott, then, and the latter sees the fabricated warmth in his eyes freeze over, ice cold in barely restrained anger. âI want it back.âÂ
Donât mess this up, Eliott reminds himself, fists clenching and unclenching as he reigns in his temper. How heâd love to feel the crunch of Raphaelâs nose under his fists right now, but itâs not that kind of battle. Eliott only has one shot to play his cards right.Â
âCut the bullshit,â he responds, surprisingly calm. âLucas isnât yours to take back.â
Raphael laughs. âWhy, heâs yours now?âÂ
Yes. âNeither. Iâd appreciate it if you stop talking like heâs something to pass around.â
âHow chivalrous of you.â
âIâm surprised you know what that means.â Eliott wants to say more, but he grits them back. There are more important things for him to needle out. âWhat with all the shit you put him through.â
âI didnât do anything.â Raphael falls back into the cushions once more, infuriatingly unaffected.Â
âDo you want an essay or a list?âÂ
âSo quick to believe everything youâre told, are you? Did he cry and look at you with those big blue eyes? He does that all the time to get what he wants.â Thereâs a strain at the corners of Raphaelâs eyes, nonchalant facade slipping down the longer Eliott stares on without a word. âYou know thereâs no evidence for any of these, right?âÂ
The quick dismissal of Lucasâ personal recounting almost does it for Eliott. But if Raphael is a master of manipulation then Eliott is of restraintâ he wonât let Raphael win. âYeah? You gonna tell that to the marks on his wrists?âÂ
Raphael scoffs, âThat was an accident. Friday was a big misunderstanding, trust me. Itâs called tough love, he likes it.â He smiles, obviously waiting for a reaction from Eliott but the latter maintains an impassive exterior.Â
âItâs called assault.â He barely refrains from tagging on a spiteful fuckface at the end of that.
âWhoa there, thatâs some heavy accusation youâre dropping!â Raphael laughs, running a hand through his hair. âDo you know who I am?âÂ
âA sad excuse of a man who takes advantage of vulnerable minors?âÂ
Raphael clicks his tongue. âYou think youâre so perfect, huh?âÂ
âFar from it.â Eliott shrugs. âBut I donât hurt the people Iâm supposed to love.âÂ
âWell arenât you just the sweetest.â Sarcasm drips from Raphaelâs words. âYou think if we both stand here, right in front of Lucas, and make him choose.â He leans forward, a desperate glint in his eyes. âYouâre positive heâd choose you? Cause let me tell you, Eliott, that boy is wired for my touch, for my voice, for my own to do as I please, and he will choose me no matter how much I hurt him. He will always come back to me and you canât do shit about it.âÂ
Victory feels good when taken by a landslide. Eliott grins, and he sees confusion, frustration, and wariness warp Raphaelâs carefully constructed expression into that of something⌠human. Human, unlike the impenetrable monster Lucas has painted inside his head. Human, who, despite the cunning and intelligence, very much fucks up like everyone else. And oh, has Raphael fucked up big time.Â
âMy turn,â Eliott says cheerfully, just to mess with the bastard even more. âDo you know who I am?â Slowly, so as to make sure that Raphael catches the movement, Eliott stops the recording on his phone.Â
Raphael shoots up from his seat, panic dousing his face red all over before seething rage takes prominence. He hisses out a quiet, âGet rid of that, right fucking now. You donât want to mess with me.â
Eliott stands, huffing out a small laugh as he notices that theyâre of equal height. None of Raphaelâs tactics has worked, or will ever work on him. âNah, itâs the other way around.âÂ
âEliott?âÂ
Georgine Eloise Demaury, part time managing partner of the law firm, part time vicious criminal prosecutor, and full time doting mother, makes a tall, intimidating figure in her navy suit and sky high heels. Her eyes are steel blue as they land on Eliott and Raphael alternatively. The red on her lips is a sharp scowl, striking against the paleness of her skin.Â
Eliott presses his lips together, amused at the sight of what he fondly refers to as her working bitch face. Sheâs forbidden Eliott from visiting her at work too often just because heâs the only one capable of cracking her diabolical attorney persona. He keeps quiet, shrugging innocently when she raises a questioning eyebrow at him.
âHi, mama.âÂ
He hears Raphaelâs sharp intake of breath and fuck, that feels good.
Her lips twitch the slightest bit. âYou two know each other?âÂ
âJust having a friendly chat,â Eliott says, looking over at Raphael with a tight smile. He relishes the startled loss he sees there.Â
âIâm waiting on a call from Mr. Schutt,â Raphael says, rearranging his face, posture straightening under Georgineâs gaze.Â
âAnd you?â She addresses Eliott this time.Â
âI brought lunch?â Eliott gestures at his bag on the chair. âPapa got worried youâd starve when you told him you forgot it.âÂ
She rolls her eyes at her husbandâs dramatics. âYou didnât have to come here.â
âYeah, well, tell that to papa. Youâre gonna have to eat it now, I ditched my boyfriend for this.â
âAh, howâs Lucas? Come up to my office, you didnât finish telling me how heâs doing last night,â she says, rigid frown compensating for the soft tone in her voice. Across from Eliott, Raphael flinches at the mention of Lucasâ name. âI need to grab something from IT and then Iâll be right there.âÂ
âWill do.â Eliott smiles, throwing his backpack over one shoulder when his mother walks away. He waits until the click clacking of her heels fade off completely before he turns to face Raphael. âSo anyway, I suggest you think very hard about that offer in New York.âÂ
âYouâre insane,â Raphael mutters behind clenched jaws.Â
Years ago, that might have stung. Coming from someone else, it might still hurt. But as it is, Eliott revels in it. âYou have no idea,â he says, raising his hand for the most condescending pat on the back heâs ever delivered before heading off to the elevators.Â
Eliott ends up taking a long nap on his motherâs office couch, tired from interacting with Raphael and his stupid mind games. Sure, heâd come out on top of that one but lengthy confrontations are most definitely not Eliottâs cup of tea. He thinks if Raphael still has the audacity to show his face after that, Eliott will let loose of inhibitions and just start a proper fist fight.Â
Recording their conversation had been a gut reactionâ heâs not even sure it would help much if push comes to shove. But his mother has quite the terrifying track record and judging from Raphaelâs reaction, he knows that too. He almost wishes for Raphael to do something stupid, to trip up the wire on Eliottâs half baked, convoluted plan to take him down permanently. The idea of delving into it scares him a little. He knows shit all about the justice system and Raphael is literally part of the goddamn system.Â
Lucas wants to leave it to karma, and maybe heâs right.
But then Eliott remembers the tears streaming nonstop down Lucasâ face, the blank disconnect in his eyes throughout that night. His worn voice begging for Eliott not to let go. The hours spent in bed coaxing for an unresponsive Lucas to sleep just a little, Iâm right here. The events of that night have taken permanent residence in his mind, painfully unwanted, but there to stay.Â
lucallemant Eliott, I know I said Iâd give you all the time you need And I mean it, you can have more right after this But please, can you pick me up at work? I need you please Please
Call him dramatic all you want, but Eliottâs world comes apart when he reads Lucasâ pleading messages. His vision narrows, the path a blurred vignette, and time slows as if heâs thrown into the fucking matrix. Except thereâs nothing exciting or amusing with this development, and his limbs work through honey as he turns and grabs a jacket, shoves his feet into mismatched shoes, and makes a run for it.
Itâs not the messages itself that cost him his breathâ though those do have him worried out of his mind, unable to even begin guessing as to what would scare Lucas enough to send them. Itâs the timestamps that have his heart rattling with unease. The faint chanting of too late too late too late a mournful echo in his head.Â
He pays no mind to it when he begins panting, head pounding as the freezing wind bites at him with heavy force, unbothered that he hasnât eaten much for the past however long. Heâs not going to stop until he reaches his destination.Â
However, when he gets there, the cafe is dark and empty. Youâre too late, the voice is screaming now. Eliott tells it to shut up, paces the area for a bit, and then checks inside the darkened alleyways. Itâs empty. He walks the opposite direction, headed towards the parking lotâ and there, thatâs when he hears the hushed voice speaking.
Eliott swivels around, rushes towards the sound, and doesnât allow himself to hesitate on the idea that itâs not Lucas trapped in between the wall and that manâs body.Â
âGet the fuck off of him.â When heâs close enough, he shoves them apart, fighting against the urge to take Lucas in his arms right away. He has to get rid of the man first. The visceral clutch of anger simmers inside of him, a heat of gargantuan proportions boiling his blood. Eliott imagines this is what one would feel like just before committing a heinous crime.
His interaction with the stranger barely sticks to Eliottâs mind, more focused on the way Lucas presses close to his back. His hands shake with barely constrained fury but he doesnât move, afraid Lucas will fall if Eliott isnât there to hold him up. âYou can fuck right off or I swear to god.â
The man raises his hands, chuckles ringing malicious as he shakes his head. âYou donât know what youâre getting into.â
Eliott doesnât care for his cryptic bullshit. âDonât make me repeat myself.âÂ
His smile is visible in the dark and Eliottâs been around enough of those with questionable morals to pinpoint the lack of kindness in it. âFine.â He tilts his head as if to catch a final glimpse of Lucas but Eliott tucks Lucas in tight behind himâ this guy doesnât deserve to even look at him.Â
When the sound of a car engine fades out, Eliott turns around, engulfing Lucas as best as he can, hoping that his embrace would provide a temporary shelter from it all. He knows itâs impossible, knows he canât do much on his end other than watch with powerless clarity as painful sobs wrack the small body in his arms. He repeats a litany of apologies into Lucasâ hair. âI have you, I have you.âÂ
Their walk home is silence in its strangest form. Eliott realizes thereâs something wrong, he can feel it at the tips of his fingers but he puts it down to Lucas gathering his thoughts and lets him be.Â
âLucas,â he says as the apartment comes into view. âI know we havenât⌠I donât⌠listen, can I stay with you for the night? Iâll sleep on the couch, anything, I just want to be there.â
Silence.Â
Eliott bites his cheek, fidgeting nervously when Lucas continues to not say anything. He chances a glance at the boy beside him and sees him looking straight ahead, expression blank as if nothingâs been said.
âThanks,â is all Lucas says once they reach the steps to the building, failing to acknowledge Eliottâs request. Â
âLucas, wait!âÂ
Unheard, just like the last time.Â
Thereâs something really, really wrong.Â
Eliott picks at his head, staring up at what he knows to be the window to Lucasâ apartment. He tells himself heâll only wait until the lights flicker on, but seconds turn to minutes and the window remains dark. Chest tightening, Eliott changes his mind. Heâll wait until someone goes in or exits the building, will plant himself outside of Lucasâ doorâ he doesnât care if Lucas or Yann donât want to see his face right now, all he wants is to make sure that Lucas stays safe for the rest of the night.Â
Except the next person to exit the doors is Lucas himself, Champ cradled in his arms.Â
âWhy are you not inside?â Eliott is familiar with the feeling of helplessness but it always pertains to his own mind, his own body. Heâs rarely ever so taken off guard that he doesnât know how to make it better for someone else. And yet here he stands, frozen with panic, speechless in the face of the one he loves most.Â
Yann isnât home, Lucas is hard-pressed on buying extra locks for their door, and thereâs no way Eliott is letting him back inside the apartment all alone.Â
âLucas,â Eliott reaches out, wants nothing more than to cradle Lucasâ face in between his hands, but heâs afraid of what touching him would do. âCome back to me.â It sounds unsteady even to his own ears and maybe Eliottâs having a little trouble breathing, but heâs more desperate for Lucas to meet his eyes than worry about his next inhale.Â
Lucas doesnât. Come back to Eliott, that is.Â
The entire walk up to his apartment, and then the walk back to Eliottâs are both filled with a strained distance that has nothing to do with physical proximity. Eliottâs no longer surprised when Lucas doesnât answer any of his questions but he keeps firing off either way, hoping against all odds that something would click. But it doesnât work that way, he knows. He, of all people, should know better.Â
He tries again once theyâre inside the safety of Eliottâs home. âLucas, are you with me?â Eliott asks and heâs not. Heâs not.Â
Running out of options, Eliottâs hand hovers over his momâs contact info, his dadâs, Idrisâ, Lucilleâsâ he just wants someone to tell him what to do.Â
In the end he doesnât get to call anyone, as a loud thud comes from the bathroom where heâd left Lucas and Eliott trips over himself in his rush, crashing into the kitchen counter, banging his arms against the potted plant hanging in the living room.Â
But the pain from those clumsy little accidents is nothing compared to the sight of Lucas crying on the floor, blue eyes running red from the force of his tears. âLucas?â
âEliott.â His voice is so quiet, so broken that it takes Eliott down to his knees, colliding harshly against the tiled floors as he brings Lucas into the circle of his arms. Tears gather in the corners of Eliottâs eyes but he knows for certain that theyâre not from the sting of his fall.Â
âDonât let me go back,â Lucas pleads, breath caught between one word and the other.Â
âYouâre never going back,â Eliott swears on his life.Â
Lucas quiets down after what feels like hours upon hours of tears and stuttering breaths. Eliott knows he isnât asleep, thoughâ his wet lashes brush softly against the skin of Eliottâs neck for every blink. Left without much option, Eliott detangles their legs and carefully lifts Lucas into his arms, a mustard seed of hope swelling in his chest when Lucas twitches at the movement. Thereâs a pause as Eliott waits for the boy to protest, grumble for Eliott to put him down, he can walk on his own.Â
It doesnât come, so Eliott goes to tuck him into bed, receives no protest when he quietly dresses Lucas in the clothes heâs brought out. Lucasâ eyes remain downcast the entire time, immovable no matter how many times Eliott brushes a hand through his hair, wipes at the tear tracks smeared on his cheeks.Â
Lucas doesnât sleep until well past two in the morning. Eliott doesnât sleep at all.
âYou okay, honey?âÂ
His mama looks like a whole different person in private, Eliottâs always marvelled at her ability to switch off just like that. Her eyes are all clear skies and motherly affection, no trace of the savage G.E Demaury to be found as her hands card gently through his hair.Â
He wants to tell her so badly, but this is Lucasâ story to share. Involving his parents to ask for help with anything is a foreign concept to Lucas and would make this a bit more complicated, yes, so Eliott will just have to wear patience like itâs going out of style.Â
âYeah,â he croaks out, still groggy from his nap.Â
âDo you wanna wait for me to finish up here and I can drive you back?â
âUhâŚâ Eliott rubs his eyes, forcing his brain to catch up with his mamaâs words. He checks his phone before answering, blinking while his eyes adjust to the brightness of his screen.
lucallemant Do you wanna come over for tonight? I know we were just together but Itâs fine if youâre gonna be back too late though
He thinks heâs actually physically melting just from reading those. âItâs okay, I have to get going now.âÂ

He stops to get some take out on the way, knowing Yann will be there and would most likely not be so chummy with Eliott after the whole thing from the past few weeks. He figures he can extend a truce through foodâ the way to a manâs heart and all.Â
When he knocks on Lucasâ door, he hears a couple of thuds, some rapid, illegible whispering, and then the door finally opens only for Lucas to catapult himself into Eliottâs arms. The door slams shut behind him and Eliott might just be seeing things but heâs pretty sure thatâs a glimpse of Yannâs unimpressed form standing on the other side of the door.Â
âHi,â Lucas breathes out, one arm slung around Eliottâs neck while the other is bent awkwardly behind him, holding onto the wriggling doorknob as if to keep a ravenous beast from escaping.
Uh oh. Â
âHi,â Eliott greets back. âOn a scale of Champ to Jurassic Park, how scared should I be of Yann right now?âÂ
Lucas bites his lip and Eliott canât help itâ he kisses him before Lucas can respond. He means for it to be a chaste touch, but Lucas lets go of the knob (thankfully no longer rattling) and throws both arms around Eliott, pressing closer and opening his lips to deepen the kiss. Eliott lets himself indulge in it but is quickly brought back to reality when he tries to wrap both arms around Lucas only for the take out bag to hit Lucasâ ass with a dull thunk.
âOw, what the fuck.â Lucas pulls away, spinning on the spot as he looks for the offender.
âSorry,â Eliott laughs, lifting the bag. âI bought food. Peace offering.âÂ
âOh my god, youâre so smart,â Lucas says, sounding genuinely pleased. âI apologize in advance though, he thinks heâs my dad sometimes.âÂ
âDamn right!â Yann shouts from behind the door.Â
âJesus.â Lucas mutters under his breath. âYou ready?âÂ
Eliott nods, rehearsing the quick speech heâd made up in his head during the ride back to Lucasâ place. All that preparationâs for nothing, however, when all Yann does is look at him when the door finally opens. He looks at Eliott like heâd done weeks ago, when Eliott had taken Lucas home after the encounter with his father, unspoken understanding passing between the two of them as easy as that.
I technically have no right to be mad but I am, Yannâs usually kind eyes are hardened earth. Thereâll be hell to pay if you pull that shit again, the look in them all but screams mistrust.Â
Eliott nods, hoping Yann also understands his most sincere but wordless responseâ never again.Â
The stare off probably only lasts a few seconds but to Eliott, it feels like an eternity before Yannâs eyes start to squint, one hand reaching for the take out bag that Eliott has stuck in the space between the two of them. Slowly, Yann takes a hold of it, snatches the bag from Eliottâs grip, and sniffs into it. Heâs still squinting at Eliott as he walks backwards to take the food inside the kitchen.
âOkay, weird but blessedly silent. Iâll take it,â Lucas huffs, taking Eliottâs hand and dragging him past the living room and into the little hallway. Belatedly, Eliott realizes that theyâre headed straight for the bedroom, Lucas marching them towards the door like a man on a mission.Â
âDonât you wanna eat?â Eliott asks, pulling back to slow Lucas down. âI bought that for you too.âÂ
âLater, I just,â Lucas pauses, his door already wide open once they reach it. âI have to ask you something.âÂ
Well that doesnât sound foreboding at all. Eliott clears his throat. âOkay.âÂ
They arrange themselves on the foot of the bed, legs crossed and facing each other. When Lucas starts fidgeting, Eliott reaches over to intertwine their fingers together.Â
âI know we joked about it before⌠or more like just yesterday actually⌠but uh,â Lucas starts, looking around the room to avoid meeting Eliottâs eyes head on. âSo Marieâs home now and Iâm taking Champ back to her on Thursday.â
âOkay,â Eliott says, smiling when Lucas discreetly looks at him from the corner of his eyes.Â
âOkay, um.â Lucas takes a deep breath and spills the rest out on a long exhale. âMy mom will be there too and I was wondering if youâd like to come?â Heâs wincing by the time the question ends and Eliott, endeared, can only stare. âMaybe? You donât have to. I understand if itâs too early or whateverââ
Eliott brings their tangled hands up to his lips and rains down kisses to the back of Lucasâ palms until he shuts up.Â
âIâll come,â he says, and then after a short silence continues with, âIâd love to.âÂ
Lucasâ relief is palpable.Â
âOkay. Thatâs⌠thatâs good.âÂ
âYouâre cute when youâre all nervous like this,â Eliott teases, wanting to see Lucasâ smile. Sure, itâs only been a couple of minutes since heâs last seen it but Eliottâs one greedy motherfucker when comes to Lucas.Â
âWhat?â The corner of Lucasâ lips tilts up, but itâs not quite the smile Eliottâs looking for.
âYouâre all nice and cute when youâre nervous. No room for snarking or swearing at me.â
âShut up.â
âAh, it was good while it lasted.â
âShut up!â Lucas laughs, kicking at Eliottâs knee.
âOh youâre kicking me now too, my god, such violence from a tiny human.â
âYouâre so dumb.â Lucas pushes at his shoulder and Eliott goes down easily, but not before winding an arm around Lucas so that his boyfriend falls on top of him in their descent. âSuch an idiot.â
âYour idiot,â Eliott retorts as cheesily as can be, grinning when Lucas laughs again, eyes scrunched and mouth open.Â
âGod, do you ever shut up?âÂ
âYeah, thereâs one way to shut me up.âÂ
âOh yeah?â
âYeah, youâre really good at it.â
Lucas leans down and Eliott feels the smile on his lips. The kisses start off as innocent pecks, short and dry, until Lucas brushes their noses together and teases the tip of his tongue in between Eliottâs slightly parted lips.Â
Eliott surges up then, locking their lips together as he moves, sitting upright with his arms still secured around Lucas. His boyfriend goes along with it, easily shuffling around so that heâs sat comfortably on Eliottâs lap, hands slightly cold against the back of Eliottâs neck, but the latter doesnât mindâ Lucasâ mouth is scorching enough to make up for it.Â
His jacket gets tossed to the floor at some point and his hands wander inside Lucasâ hoodie, searching for the warmth of his skin under, encouraged by the way Lucas tightens his arms around Eliottâs shoulders when he runs a hand from the nape of Lucasâ neck down to the dip low on his back. The intensity reminds him of their first timeâ only slightly, because Eliott doesnât think anything could come close to that night. But he recalls the warm weight of Lucas on his lap, against the wall, over him, under him. Recalls the way heâd jokingly asked Lucas how many fingers heâs holding up. How Lucas had very non jokingly slipped the two fingers in his mouth and licked around them until Eliott lost his mind.
The memory of it has heat rushing up and down Eliottâs body in frantic jolts, melting away his higher functions until he finally flips them over, gently laying Lucas down below him just like heâs always done. His fingers lightly dance along the line of Lucas' jeans and the latter lets him, Lucasâ hands exploring the wide expanse of Eliottâs back under his shirt.Â
And thatâs something newâ not Lucas touching him no, but rather the confidence he exudes in bed. Eliott doesnât think heâd ever forget the shakiness of Lucasâ breath, the furious drumming of his pulse, the flinches heâs tried so hard to cover up. Eliottâs noticed every single one of them, often pausing to suggest for them to stop only for Lucas to hold him by the sides of his face and mutter a determined, keep going.
Back then he couldnât figure out if thereâs a story behind it, or if Lucas is only nervous about being intimate with someone else. Now that he knows, can extrapolate the details from what Lucas has told him so far, Eliottâs heart is close to bursting with the realization of how much trust Lucas has placed in his hands that very first time. Of how much trust he continues to have in Eliott despite all thatâs happened.Â
I love you, his touch speaks, lingering and light over the smooth skin of Lucasâ waist.
I love you, his eyes repeat, insistent, hopeless, as they meet Lucasâ wide, adoring gaze.
I love you, his mouth whispers, soundless against the brush of Lucasâ lips, plush softness falling open under the gentle touch of Eliottâs tongue.
I love you, he wants to say, out loud, with all his anxious, fragile heart but what comes out instead is a nearly inaudible, âYouâre so beautiful.âÂ
Maybe someday, heâll be able to speak as it is. Someday, heâll work up the courage to stop hiding behind soft touches and pretty words. But as Eliott opens his eyes on a slow blink, he looks down at Lucas and catches the most tender of smiles directed up at him. Maybe words arenât needed right now. For Lucas, in this moment, maybe Eliott is enough.Â
âNo, you,â Lucas retorts childishly, arching up to press a giggle into Eliottâs amused smile.Â
âThis is a losing battle, baby.â Eliott nuzzles his cheeks, nose instinctively wrinkling when Lucas kisses the tip of it. The sweltering heat has cooled between them, replaced by a softer kind of warmth.
âYeah, your losing battle,â Lucas says, trying to shift from under Eliottâs weight. âBaby,â he adds in a whisper, smile cheeky when Eliottâs head snaps up to look at him. He sputters, unfairly flustered at hearing Lucas use that pet name, any pet name in fact, for the first timeâ
âAre you being a brat?â Eliott tries to keep his voice stern, but heâs pretty sure his eyes give it away as Lucas dissolves into helpless giggles. âAre you being a brat?â he repeats a little louder, hands splayed widely over Lucasâ sides, curling up where his boyfriend is most ticklish.
âNo!â But itâs too late, Eliottâs already found his weakest spots and proceeds with the attack, relentless despite Lucasâ half formed begging in between his laughter. âEliott, no! Wait!â he squeaks, turning red when one of Eliottâs hands slide up to tickle at his neck.Â
Eliott only stops when Lucas, breathless and teary-eyed, pouts pitifully up at him. Honestly, what human being with a heart could resist that? So he leans down and brings the jut of Lucasâ bottom lip in between his teeth, waiting until his boyfriend opens his mouth on a groan before diving in for a kiss. Lucasâ hands immediately tangle themselves into Eliottâs hair, legs pulling up to wrap around him as if Eliott has any batshit plans of leaving the bed any time soon. Eliottâs shirt is halfway off his back when Lucasâ door creaks open.
They barely let up, both expecting to see Yann coming to interrupt them for whatever reason but the entry way is empty.Â
âWhatââÂ
Soft, fast-paced panting is their answer and Eliottâs completely unprepared for when Lucas shoves him off the bed with all his mightâ Eliott hangs onto the sheets to keep from cracking his head open.
âOh shit, sorry!â Lucas shouts, dragging Eliott back up to the center of the bed. âI justâ Champâs just a baby, she canât see that!âÂ
Eliott doesnât know whether to agree or laugh. He figures responding with a deadpan sheâs just a dog wonât go over too well with Lucas so he keeps that thought to himself. With a sigh, Eliott smooths down his shirt and walks over to where Champ is still panting happily up at them.Â
âAre you happy now?â He asks the dog, crouching closer to her level and tapping her tiny nose with a finger. He carries her in his arms on his way out to the living room, turning back to see Lucas attempting to fix his hair as if Yann doesnât already know what theyâve been up to, alone in the room for at least half an hour. âCome on, baby, letâs keep Yann company before he decides to take back my rights.âÂ
