oooh could you do protective headcanons for the golden deer too??🥺
{I most certainly can. Y’all know I love these tropes so keep ‘em coming. Hope it’s to your liking! :3}
Claude:
6/10
Neutral, with just a tad bit of nerves.
Look. Claude has bigger fish to fry than what you’re gallivanting on about during the day. The man has a dream to catch with literally a country and 1/3 (woot woot alliance) on his shoulders.
First, the future. Then, you. Can’t have a life together if there is no place for it to be had, yeah?
This doesn’t mean that he never worries about you. Quite the contrary, if he begins then he can’t stop. So he doesn’t tinker the thought.
Instead he has his most trusted allies at your back. During the Academy days you were left under Hilda’s watchful eye, and during the war you are always nearby (courtesy of matchmaker Prof.Byleth)
Once he puts a ring on it you’ll have guards. No problem.
He also trusts your own capabilities. One doesn’t train every day to walk out with nothing
Also
You make me laugh if you think Claude believes you’ll ever cheat on him
Not that he’s cocky okay, maybe a bit  but no one would dare put the moves on “The Master Tactician’s” s/o
Any suitor coming your way is peasant fodder. If not to him, than to your own personal retaliation.
Yupp, nothing to worry about. You’ve got it covered. He’ll only step in if you physically come ask him
and with a bit of teasing he’ll comply
However, Claude is very sensitive to illness for obvious reasons. This is why he’s listed at a six. He always insists on tasting your food
It was a gimmick at first, and in the beginning he’d make banter to sneak a bite while you remain all unknowing of his true intentions
He’ll be damned if someone ever poisons you. They won’t ever get the chance
Ignatz:
9/10
Let us face it. Iggy is a worry-wart.
He freaks out over the most minuscule of situations. The poor lad nearly gets a heart attack at least once a day
And no, i’m not just referring to his pre-timeskip self. Ignatz may have grown a head taller, got a backbone, fancy harem artist pants--but no, he did not lose his inner anxious zealot. That trait will cling until the day he dies sadly
Having you at his side only makes things worse (in a good way. The trouble is worth it to him)
Especially if you’re more of the risky sort. Expect him to mother hen if you cause ruckus around the monastery. He can and will lecture you to death (only to apologize and hide away after)
Now not only does he worry about his own issues, but also yours. I swear Ignatz acts like you are his second being. If someone scolds you, hurts you, etc. he acts like they did it to him
Can be a bit dramatic, not gonna lie. He gets so worked up that his ears go red. Like, you can just t e l l he’s holding so much back because he doesn’t want to go too far
Don’t even get me started on if someone tries to make a move on you
He becomes t o r n. It isn’t his place to tell you who to hang around, but ohmygodwhatifyourealizeheisn’tgoodenough
iggy no, bad iggy. don’t think like that
He feels threatened so easily and not many would peg him the jealous type. He is, but hides it very well.
If need be he will talk out his feelings with you. That’s something noteworthy of Ignatz: he uses his words. He may find communicating such thoughts aloud difficult, but if he truly is concerned then he will be honest with you.
Raphael:
10/10
Raphael believes in trust. He expects you to be honest and to not keep anything important secret. In return he’ll do the same.
This is why he doesn’t care if someone is flirting. He could give less of a thought on gossip, rumors, or anything really. That effort can go towards training
He truly, honest to Sothis, trusts you with all his heart. There isn’t any time to spend doing otherwise. Raph just wants to live happily and that means having you by his side
Nor does he feel intimidated by anyone else either. I’m not saying that he reeks of resolved confidence, but Raph believes that you love him. Love topples any mindless flirting that other people throw your way
but let’s get one thing straight
If anybody, and I mean ANYBODY, tries to hurt you
This guy’s having them for b r e a k f a s t. Pounded, sliced, and Smoked. The same way he liked his bacon.
You are his family. Raphael protects his family, and those he cares about.
You will never be alone. Goddess if you cry and someone else is the cause then he will take action. One fault of Raph is that while he’s a sweetie, he doesn’t think before acting a lot. Similar to Caspar, he just goes for it
It takes a lot to get underneath Raph’s skin.
In short: do not f*ck with his loved ones. He would take on Nemisis himself mono-e-mono if it meant protecting them
Lorenz:
8/10
Y’all going to sit there and try to convince me that Lorenz Hellman Gloucester doesn’t try to establish dominance?
Key word: try
He’s quickly shut down
“Lorenz if you tell one more person that we’re betrothed, I swear that I’ll shave off your eyebrows” - You, one month post-confession
Saying that you’re his perfect match is no excuse. Considering all the preaching he does on noble humility, you’d think he would want your private affairs off the notice board?
It doesn’t take long for your peers to start complaining. Claude finds his behavior entertaining, but not a day goes by that someone doesn’t beg you to make him shut up
Lorenz is also a bit old fashioned. He doesn’t like the idea of you fighting more than necessary
Once again, shut down
Best way to deal with Lorenz is to let him think he has his way, then just do whatever. He gets upset, pouts, spouts his normal lecture, but then relents. All in due process with him
Never thought I’d say this, but perhaps requesting not to be in the same troop together is the best option? You’d think he would fight better with an S tier relationship at his side? Nahhh. HE TAKES YOUR KILLS IT IS NOT FAIR
He gives too much attention to what you’re doing, and not the enemy. Best if you stay separated
Ugh pray no one hits on you in front of him. Just... *screams* I don’t think anyone will, just to avoid him getting defensive. I swear the other deer take extensive preventative measures to avoid it.
Hilda:
6/10
C’mon. This is Hilda we’re talking about
You two most likely grew closer because she “asks” you for help so often
Just like Claude, she has bigger fish to fry. The last type of person she wants to be is Holst (she loves him though don’t misinterpret that)
She does worry though
Not enough to make her take the front lines, but a smidgen. Just to where you’ll get periodic check in’s
Nothing obvious. A simple “what’s going on?”  as she inquired about your well-being
A precarious scan-over as she checks for any new scars
She does get jealous though. There’s an entire castle full of available people and someone chooses to flirt with you?
That just doesn’t make sense. Perhaps the “once something is taken it becomes more desirable,” saying has some truth
She’s quite the clinger. You’ll just be walking and suddenly, BOOM, bubble-gum pink arm-candy in the corner of your vision
Once you two bypass the ‘puppy-love’ early stages, she changes.
Despite her negligence beforehand, she does become overprotective
Will fight if needed. Say you have a paralogue? Just so happens she was nearby and wants to tag along
She also has to protect you from Holst. My dear, you cannot do that yourself. Brotherly wrath beseeches you, my god. Run dude run
Marianne:
3/10
A possessive streak is nonexistent in her blood. Such thing is a personal fear of her’s. Marianne refuses to conform to the stereotypes associated with her crest
However, she does believe that one day you may leave her side. Marianne isn’t the most confident person. She...doubts
Often does she wonder if you’re there solely to make her hurt. To love her and then one day disappear without a trace
Anxieties like so will not go away overnight. She will not seek reassurance, which makes her more uncommunicative than most partners
but no one is perfect. Neither are you. All you personally can do is politely decline any advances, and do your best to let Marianne know that you love her
She isn’t particularly protective in any other sense either. She’ll heal you if needed, but special attention isn’t there
Marianne treats being a healer like how an ER doctor operates. On the field, everyone is equal. She is needed everywhere and cannot stay by your side. Otherwise lives will be lost, and that won’t be good for her conscience.
The same goes for all other aspects. If you’re gone, then you’re gone. If you’re sick, then you’re sick. She cannot give you special attention and acts in accordance to severity of the situation. Patients cannot be weighed in value via personal bias
She has a surprisingly strong sense of self control, let me tell ya.
Lysithea:
7/10
She...does not have much time. Entering a romantic relationship was not a possibility that crossed her mind once before you
Why bother when the ending is certain? Why leave someone brokenhearted, or a widow? Why give herself that extra stress when she’s already under so much as it is?
You can’t blame her for being extra cautious. While her life may be hanging on a string, that doesn’t mean yours has to end
After some time she develops a resolve. If needed she would gladly lay her life down if it meant you could live another day
A problematic conclusion. You two will argue often over how she cannot trade a ‘life for a life,’ just because of her special circumstances. Her mind always enforces that it’s the logical decision, and has trouble recognizing her own value
I suppose that comes with being a know-it-all, huh? Once her mind is set then there is no changing it
Despite her brain sending all the signals that acting on jealousy is wrong...well, we know Lysithea
She won’t come out and say she gets protective for your sake. Apparently anyone flirting with you already had business with her
Business that miraculously unfolds once you leave. Then suddenly they no longer have an interest?
What’d she do? Threaten to shove a thoron up their rectum? No one knows
Leonie:
9/10
She is the mom who’d create a strict morning routine for her kids to follow before school
Or a thorough itinerary on a vacation
Not a moment or bullion to be wasted!
Cannot express enough how much this girl cares. She can become annoying from all the interference, but you’ll never become a bum with her in your life
You might want to ask her to butt out. Remind her that you’re not one of the kids from her village, and that you can handle yourself
Sometimes you’ll joke and say “yes mom,” because she gets b o s s y
Which will earn you either: a) a glare, or b) her playing along and confusing everyone else
So in a sense, yeah she’s protective. Overbearing in her own Leonie way
Not the jealous type. Leonie doesn’t look at what other people have, and instead focuses on her own life. If someone wants to shamelessly throw themselves at your feet then that’s their issue. You know better than to cheat on her
I can see her complaining to the captain or to Byleth though. Why waste time when the issue can easily be solved? Obviously someone with the time to flirt has time to do training drills
Bonus! Cyril: (because during my first play-through I kept expecting GD to take him under their wing. They did not, and Nintendo missed out.)
5/10
He personally hates being treated like a child. When someone doesn’t take him seriously Cyril’s self restraint goes b o o m
So he won’t do that to you. You’re a capable individual and that’s that. Nothing more for him to interfere with
His only protective streak lies when you’re incapable of doing things yourself. Aka: injured, ill, resting, etc.
He’ll nag you for not being careful, but it’s not hard to miss the tears pricking his eyes
He’s also very perceptive towards break-in’s. Many people have tried to kidnap/assassinate people of higher standing. He’s witnessed many attempts towards lady Rhea. I see him taking night shifts for patrol often, and after the war the habit sticks with him.
He takes a lot onto his shoulders often. It’s not bad. Being dedicated is an admirable trait, yet if you’re down someone will have to stop him from picking up the slack.
He’s no healer, and leaves that job to the professionals. However he doesn’t want anyone to disturb you with the work your missing. So he’ll do it in your stead
Manuela lets him stay in the infirmary past visitation hours. Mostly because he’s so busy during the day that he can’t come by
He won’t return to his room those nights. He prefers to be by your side, just in case.
Other than this type of situation- no, he’s not protective in the slightest.

[神なる君と] Osananajimi Duo - Yakumo
Second route of the game. #mfw ==== (ง•̀_•́)ง‼
*
-Takekiyo Yakumo-
Tumblr media
Niiiiisssssaaaannnnnnn!!!
Yakumo is the other osananajimi of the trio. He is one year older than Sakuya and Narumi, and acts as the protective big brother - when they were young, some older kids took Sakuya’s *precious amulet*, and Yakumo went to get it back from them and got beaten up really badly.
Sakuya later tells him that at that time he seemed like a ‘hero’ and she had always looked up to him. So I guess there’s like a love triangle (...love flowchart??) that goes: Narumi --> Sakuya --> Yakumo since the very beginning.
Also early on in the story, Yakumo tells Sakuya in a ‘simulation event’ that, even if he loved her, he would never confess and they can never be together, because it would end in tragedy. Pfffft whatever nii-san, that just means I will have to make the first move *evil laugh*.
My feelings during his route went from hilarious, to sad, to finally disconcerting. He’s kind of a poor bastard and MIA in half of his own route. When I finally got the the two endings I wanted to throw my game console out of the window... (╯°□°)╯︵ ԀSԀ
Tumblr media
Yes, exactly.
Aaanyway, there are two big revelations here:
1. Aki’s backstory: Kibi Aki is the 16-year-old spirit medium sent by the Ministry to spy on monitor Kunihoshi Shrine, because Mikoto forgot to send in his report (#justMikotothings). After Sakuya accidentally fucks up one of her assignments, it’s revealed that she actually comes from a renowned onmyouji family, and left home to train under the ministry at a young age in order to prove herself.
2. Kunugi’s backstory: Kunugi is the shape-shifting demon who stole the *magical seal* that protects the town, and Aki’s target of investigation. I didn’t expect to like him at first, but his tragic romance is pretty kewl I have to admit:
Kunugi was a douchebag since birth and terrorised the village so all the villagers hated him. One day, a girl named Yuki wandered into his territory. She was a grade A-level village idiot idiot, and after 3 days of trying and failing to find her way out, he gave her some food and water so she wouldn't die on his grounds. She was very grateful and started to get close to him. She also begged him to stop terrorising the village. Eventually she annoyed him enough that he agreed.
Then gradually, he began to help the villagers here and there, and even became friends with them. One day they wanted to thank him for his help. They gave him a small wooden box, and told him it was some kind of national treasure. Just then Yuki intercepted, and the box emitted some light beam that went into her body.
After that Yuki got progressively sicker and on the brink of death. Out of anger and confusion, he tried to destroy the box, but it's more sturdy/fireproof than an LV tote bag. Eventually she told him that the box contains a cursed rock (i.e. the remains of the Great Demon), and once every two hundred years the village has to offer a human sacrifice to prevent the curse from escaping and causing disaster. This time the villagers chose him, so she gave her life to save his...
Tumblr media
Kind of hard to imagine how she fell in love with this (ahem *Aki*)... hopefully a few hundred years ago he took on a sexier appearance...
But I digress. Let’s get back to Yakumo XD. So his deal is basically that the Takekiyo bloodline has been chosen as the human sacrifice every 200 years. As a result, Yakumo is inflicted with a curse that puts him to sleep for longer and longer periods, until he eventually goes into a longggg sleep and never wakes up. This also explains his superhuman athletic abilities and sixth sense, because the Force be with him powers of the Great Demon live within him.
Early on in the common route, he occasionally says things like, ‘you must live on happily when I am gone’ and gives Sakuya a #sadface, like someone with a terminal illness. Eventually Sakuya finds out the truth from his parents, after which he couldn’t hide anymore, and starts to reveal all his fears and doubts, as well as his feelings for her.
As it turns out Yuzuru knows a way to break the curse, but it requires putting Yakumo into a coma for years, and there’s a good chance of death. Basically the supernatural equivalent of a high-risk medical operation I guess. He has until the hoshimatsuri to decide whether to take a gamble with this method, or let the curse continue slowly chipping away at his lifespan.
...Of course he chooses the former. You’d be an idiot not to.
1. Good End: It’s been 7 years (!), and he still hasn’t woken up from his coma. According to Yuzuru, 5 years is the ‘safety period’, and after that he’s as good as gone. Sakuya doesn’t give up, and **10 years later** (#tumbleweeds) he finally wakes up on hoshimatsuri night. They go on to have a baby who looks ridiculously like Yakumo ...and will probably be affected by the same curse...? Oh well let’s hope Yuzuru is still alive by then to do his thang.
2. Tragic End: Under Yuzuru’s advice, Sakuya gives up and lets him erase all her memories. Yakumo eventually wakes up after 10 years anyway, and it sucks for him because unlike in Narumi’s end, Yakumo still remembers everything and has to live with it for the rest of his life. Like I said, poor bastard...
Tumblr media
Understatement of the year.
*
[Thoughts] Somehow this route felt shorter and less tearful than Narumi’s, maybe because I got used to the general setting and gameplay. Yakumo’s ema events feel like they came out of a shounen manga and had me in stitches the whole time. I can’t recall any other otome game that made me laugh this much (...except maybe 「私のレアルは充実している」).
What I like about this route is the added tension here compared to Narumi’s route: in Narumi’s case it’s pretty obvs that he has a crush on Sakuya. He said it himself that he’s never viewed Sakuya as a sister from the beginning. So on that front there’s no doubt from his side, his whole conflict revolves only around the ‘forbidden love’ aspect.
Whereas with Yakumo, when he shows hints of feelings towards Sakuya, they’re often ambiguous between the actions of an older brother towards a little sister vs. a love interest. That made it all the more exciting.
Also apart from the curse/risk of death and that stuff, Yakumo also had his ‘manly pride’ to reckon with - letting Sakuya see his weak side and realise that he’s not always her ‘hero’. It was pretty damn emotionally satisfying when he finally came clean about his secrets and started letting Sakuya into his world. Although, much of his later dialogue is pretty cliche tbh. I actually found his baka persona more interesting. But eh.
I guess it’s this pride of his that makes it necessary for Sakuya to be an adult here. Whenever his white lies or ‘fake cheerfulness’ made her angry, she had to learn/choose to coax things out of him gently instead of calling him out on it. Conversely I felt that with Narumi she was more direct, and had more leeway for wagamama.
The Aki/Kunugi story arc was a high point of the route for me. Aki’s background helps to explain her personality in so many ways. I love her character growth and development here, as she eventually learns to accept help from other people, instead of trying do everything by herself. Ahh... her whole story strikes so many chords with me. I also love how she got her own grand love story here.
(Part of me is curious if the Aki-lookalike and Kunugi’s ‘true form’ will make an appearance later on. It’s a long shot, but let’s hope!)
This route also revealed a lot about Yuzuru, whom I’m liking more and more and whose story I’m really looking forward to... I thought I had more to say about him but nahhh. Asshole who’s a secret softie at heart <3.
I’ll sign off this post with the following pun from Genpei which I thought was pretty cheeky -

10 questions tags
so in my absence I ended up with something like... fifty tags? a lot of tags. and they’re now all in my reading list and I’m going to draft them all so I can read and reblog and reply and whatnot, but holy shit, you guys keep busy.
I’m not tagging back because this is really long haha
tagged by @sleepy-and-anxious for questions
Do you have a writing routine?
noooooo lol. I don’t even write when inspiration strikes, haha.
Early bird or night owl?
usually I’m awake at night? but having a scheduled job that needs me at eight am tries to put me to bed at a more reasonable hour haha
Who is your least favourite oc? Tell me about them.
...ooh. jon, probably, though even he has badly-justified reasons for doing what he does. maybe one of his clients, because there’s no good reason for them doing what they do, just that they do. (also I just... don’t like to talk about them haha)
How do you come up with plot ideas?
who knows! how do I come up with anything? I consume a lot of media, and it used to be that any time I’d watch a movie I’d be hit with inspiration. now my anxiety doesn’t let me watch a lot of movies so there goes that idea
Do you make playlists for your wip?
I do! oftentimes they suck or have very flimsy ties to my wip but hey
What software/type of document etc do you write on?
pages, evernote now apparently, also notes, because before I had pages on both my phone and my computer I wanted the cloud to help me keep shit straight. I used to email it to myself if I wrote on my phone... that was not fun haha
Do you like to gush about your wip or keep it secret?
a little of both? from the roof of my mouth gets talked about a lot. shadowed’s a little more secret just because it’s darker and I’m concerned no one’s going to want to hear about it?
If you could pick one song to describe your wip what would it be?
everlong :p
Did you make a writeblr for any specific reason?
I just wanted to connect with other writers? and it’s been great, up until my own bullshit made that difficult haha
also tagged by @writerachel
what are your top 3 favorite movies?
can’t hardly wait, back to the future, and... oh. I blanked.
do you listen to music when you write?
not usually. from the roof of the mouth is the first time I’ve been able to in a while, at least stuff that isn’t instrumental.
who’s your favorite character from any book you’ve ever read?
oh. um. ...that’s a very good question.
what’s your favorite line from your current wip?
less of a line and more of a passage, but when Nakoa uses the ‘dicey’ pun on dice’s nickname. also the ““I love you,” he says, and his voice holds steady.”
which of your current wips would you want to be a movie? (IF YOU HAVE ONLY ONE WIP: what book would you want to turn into a movie?)
well. that’s a good question. uhh.
do you have anything/anyone in your life that influences/inspires your writing?
other writers here, and I’m lying if I don’t say raven specifically haha. otherwise, I mean, not really? I don’t write based on my own life because I get anxiety about it.
starbucks or dunkin donuts? (I HAVE TO KNOW I’M SORRY!!)
I drink dunkin donuts coffee at home so I guess them? haha
can you write anywhere or do you have to be in a specific place?
nah I can write anywhere. apparently my favorite is when I’m trying to fall asleep though
worst book you were forced to read in school?
the alchemist. I also don’t care for to kill a mockingbird, and I read it twice for school
do you have any pets?
I do! some kitties!
tagged by @quill-and-ink-writer
What is your favorite time to write?
at night, hahaha.
Is there a book you would rewrite? If so, how?
I feel like I’ve been asked this before, and honestly... I don’t usually think like that? like I read books and usually they’re either good or great, ‘cause I don’t finish books I don’t like haha
Have any specific authors influenced your work?
I’m sure they have but I couldn’t name them.
Where do you draw inspiration?
from other media, other writers. I already mentioned one in particular up there :p
What’s your style/voice?
...? I don’t know?
Which of your OCs could become your best friend?
oh. um. I think I’d get along well with dice, or aero. nakoa’s probably too rowdy, haha. otherwise, there’s a character in autumn moon I’ve yet to introduce that’d fit the bill.
What’s the last book you read?
our bloody pearl by brynwrites which was way better than I expected (which isn’t to say that I didn’t expect it to be great but I was enamored through the day as I read it)
Are you proud or anxious when other people read your writing?
anxious, hahaha. I am never proud.
Do you nail down a character’s personality before you write, or do you prefer to let it grow in the story?
I try to nail it down. nakoa was supposed to be way more laid back and chill and his story was much less heartbreaking, but alas that’s what first drafts and rewrites do to you
Where’s your favorite place to write?
in bed, apparently
also tagged by @trevorparece
Standalones, trilogies, or behemoths of a series?
if I’m writing it, standalones. if I’m reading it, I like things that have more than one installment, because then it gives more opportunities for other people to get into it and then I can live in the world a little longer :p
What is your favorite line of your own writing?
oh, man. I don’t know. I write a lot of garbage.
What would your book’s epigraph be?
I’m really irritated that I can’t answer this question because it’s a very good question
How about its movie poster slogan?
AUGH THIS ONE TOO
If you were going to challenge yourself to try something new, what genre would you venture into?
scifi, lol. I already am trying it. it’s not my forte.
Who’s the first person you show a draft to?
me! just me. I don’t usually work in drafts so I’m nervous about it.
Is there an idea (be it plot or character or world) you’ve been tugging along since childhood, just waiting for the right moment to use?
nahhh. I either write them down and forget, forget them, or start writing them.
What’s the first creative thing you remember writing, and what did you learn from it?
something about aliens, or possibly a fantasy book that was meant to be a series? honestly--that it was easier to write than I thought it was.
What’s the strangest characteristic you’ve taken from real life and given to a character (could be yours or someone else’s)?
oh, I don’t know, haha. I don’t do this consciously. I’m sure I’ve done it, but I wouldn’t know I did it :p
Choose your fighter: Enemies to Lovers, There’s Only One Bed, or Pretend Dating Makes Real Feelings.
PRETEND DATING. fake dating is my most favorite thing
and @editedandwrittenbyhannah
How old were you when you started taking writing seriously (assuming you do now)?
guess it depends on the definition of serious. if it means publishing, it’s been back and forth because I don’t always want to publish, and I don’t always think everything I write could BE published. if it means attempting to write true to characters and plot and whatever, then... always?
How old do you think is the best age to start writing and why?
whenever. if the story’s in your mind and your heart, then put it to paper. you can always grow older and change it, if it needs to be, but there’s no such thing as ‘too old’ or ‘too young’ to start writing.
What is your ideal setting for writing?
in bed, before I fall asleep, lol. this is a popular question :p
What is the weirdest thing that has ever gotten your writer brain going on overdrive about a new idea?
oh. I don’t know. I don’t question inspiration these days, haha.
Do you edit before you post your writing to tumblr?
sometimes. actually, no, usually. and then I forget that I edited it. and it doesn’t make it back to my draft. don’t be like me.
What blogs have inspired you AND/OR motivated you to write? Tag ‘em so they know what they did for you.
@forlornraven @indecentpause @infinitelyblankpage @riftversus @lavenderas @theshadowsofthenight, but also, kind of the entirety of writeblr as a whole is good. I dig this community and watching everyone craft their stories has been kind of incredible. I don’t know writer people in real life, so the internet’s kind of how I find them, and I haven’t had a community of sorts since I was in high school. it’s nice to see everyone so determined and in love with their own work. reminds me it’s okay to not hate my stuff.
Who is your favorite tumblr writer?
...look I’m just gonna say I mentioned them by name already :p but the ones I mentioned in the question just before this are equally as awesome.
I just realized technically I mentioned all of writeblr. look how that works out :p
What is your favorite topic to write about? Read about?
I don’t know, I like contemporary fiction, stuff that’s realistic to write about because it’s the world I most know, obviously, and I’m used to reading about lgbt+ characters and a lot of the times those aren’t in genre fiction--at least not mainstream genre fiction)
or they weren’t, anyway.
but I like scifi too.
How old were you when you read your favorite book for the first time? How many times have you read it since then?
I don’t know that I have a favorite book. if it is, probably room, and I don’t really know lol
List 3 songs that you would NEVER listen to while writing because they’re too distracting for any reason at all.
all of them. ;;

Best Meat Slicer Reviews 2019: Top 5+ Recommended
Only meat blokes like me will ever understand that every day is a great day to eat meat!
Although meat cuts will do, I love getting my hands on deli-style cuts of meats. But, I’m also not into going to my local meat shop every day! Why pass by a deli when you can have it in your kitchen— fresh and expertly cut, right?
But knives?
Nahhh.
As much as I believe that food preparing and cooking is a form of art, there are just some things that are best left to machines.
Sure, a machine will never be able to cook a dish as I can, however, when it comes to preparations such as food slicing, I am all for turning the engine on!
Why would you spend your energy and time slicing a piece of meat manually— a process that is both tiresome and prone to injury— when you can just turn something on, a little push and voila— perfectly cut meat with style!
And that something is called a meat slicer!

Meat Slicer: What Is It and Is It For?
Originally, meat slicers are invented to perfectly cut any type of meat. However, most people also use the machine for slicing other types of food such as bread, cheese, vegetables and anything you need slicing.
And to answer the question:
What is the meat slicer for?
It is for making your life in the kitchen a lot easier!
Manual slicing is a tiring process and can provide inconsistent results. And in such a fast-paced world we are living in, a meat slicer can save you valuable time that you can later spend with your loved ones.
The Perks of a Having a Meat Slicer
1. Easy Cutting
As I have mentioned before, manual cutting is a tedious job and extremely tiresome. Also, cutting through frozen meats can be quite troublesome. Not for meat slicers, though! With this powerful machine, meat cutting is as easy as 1, 2, 3!
2. Uniform Cuts and Desired Thickness
Because you are using a machine, you can expect even, uniform cuts you see in meat shops. This makes the food look more presentable. Also, the best meat slicers come with adjustable knobs to produce your desired thickness of food slices. Now, you can create Japanese dishes that require thin slices of meat.
3. Versatility
I already told you that meat slicers are not just for meats. This is why some people like to call it a food slicer, rather than meat slicers. It can cut through vegetables, fruits, cheese and more!
Buying a Meat Slicers? 8 Things to Consider
1. Construction
Meet slicers need to have a sturdy and strong housing which is made from high-quality materials such as aluminum alloy, die-cast aluminum, stainless steel, premium coated steel or a combination of these materials.
Other than being sturdy and durable, these materials are highly resistant to rust. Aluminum is typically lighter, while meat slicers constructed from premium coated steel or those with bigger aluminum alloy housing can be heavier and bulky.
2. Power
When buying a meat slicer, you want to make sure that it has enough power to cut whatever meat you have.
In general, there are two different types of slicers— belt driven or gear driven, or a combination of both.
Belt driven meat slicers usually lack the real power, so if you are planning to slice harder meats or bigger slices, then consider getting a gear-driven meat slicer.
But, if you are looking for a simpler in-home slicer, then a belt-driven meat slicer should do just fine. Plus, this type of meat slicers is usually quieter and perfect for thin and softer meats.
3. Blade Type
In terms of the blade, you get two choices— a smooth edge blade or a serrated blade.
Smooth blades work best on lean meats and vegetables, providing you with cleaner cuts. You need to avoid crusty bread and tough meats with a smooth blade, though.
For serrated blades, slicing bread and tough meats are easy. They can also cut through veggies, but, can leave a messy edge.
But, if you want the best of both worlds, then it would be best to get a secondary blade to switch in and out.
4. Controls
All meat slicers have an adjustable thickness that is usually controlled by a knob or dial on the machine. In general, the lower the number means a thinner cut, whereas a higher number means that you will have a thicker cut.
However, such numerical system can vary from brand to brand.
In order to help you slice frozen meats, the handle you use to slice meats is important too. Therefore, look for one with a large handle, a dual handle system or a fixed device handle which can make your slicing process a lot easier.
5. Safety Features
Remember:
Meat slicers are machines with extremely sharp rotating blade that you will be operating by hand. So, there is no question that you will look for safety features included. Here are some you should look for:
Knife GuardIn general, the blade of a meat slicer needs to be exposed as little as possible in order to prevent accidents. Look for a meat slicer that comes with a hand or knife guard that should act as a barrier between your hands and the blade.
Dual Safety SwitchThis feature prevents accidental startups. This feature, however, can be annoying and inconvenient depending on the slicer model you choose. So, if you are vigilant with where you are using the meat slicer and where you store it, this feature is not really necessary.
Rubber FeetMeat slicer should have rubberized feet in order to bring stability to the whole machine when cutting meat and avoid any accidents.
Safety Blade LocksBlade lock functions are highly common, particularly for meat slicers. A blade lock should prevent the slicer blade from moving unintentionally, which is great if you are storing the slicer within reach of kids.
6. Size
Meat slicers are fairly large appliances. Sadly, they do not break down for easier storage. So before buying, make sure that you choose one that can fit inside your kitchen cabinets.
7. Noise Levels
As you slice veggies or meat, will you be able to hold a conversation with the people next to you? Most meat slicers have a noise level range of 60 – 70 dbs.
8. Cleaning
Some meat slicers, particularly those for commercial use, have parts which can be removed and cleaned very easily. There are some other models that may not come with such parts which are so easy to detach. S, before making a purchase, take into consideration the cleaning requirements of these complex machines.

Precautions When Using a Meat Slicer
Meat slicers have really sharp blades in them.
And it is not just about being careful when slicing meats. The, even more, trickier part is dealing with the blades while you clean the meat slicer. Using safety guards such as safety gloves while washing the blade is needed to avoid cuts on your hands.
Most meat slicers come with a user safety manual. You need to read it carefully before using the machine. Make sure that the power button is off until the meat is ready to be sliced. Also, checking for any loose or missing parts is crucial to prevent the chances of malfunctioning.
You also need to pay close attention to the surface on which the meat slicer is kept. The base of the slicer needs to be clear of any uneven surface as it may slip or turn upside down when operating.
Maintenance 101: Cleaning a Meat Slicer
Like all kitchen equipment, it is essential that you clean your meat slicer thoroughly— for hygiene and prolonging the life of the machine.
When you do not regularly clean your slicer, food residue can eventually build up in different parts of the machine which causes bacteria to grow. The bacteria buildup can contaminate foods and be the cause for foodborne illnesses, making you ill.
Additionally, a meat slicer can transfer small food particles or flavors onto foods you slice later, changing the texture and taste of your dishes.
Specific Problem Areas
The slicer handle, blade guard and ring guard monitor should be monitored carefully for any broken, cracks, unattached or missing parts. Food particles accumulate under the slicer handle, inside the blade guards and at the ring guards.
Also, make sure that you regularly examine seals and seams on your machine to see if they have worn away and created additional crevices where bacteria and leftovers can accumulate.
Tips Before Starting
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.
Wear protective gloves. Choose cut-resistant gloves such as cut-proof metal gloves are the best option.
Never submerge the slicer completely.
Never use steel wool since it can scratch the meat slicer.
Cleaning A Meat Slicer
Set the thickness of your slicer to zero. Wipe both sides of the blade using a gentle scrub pad as the slicer is in motion. Once you remove any large particles, turn or and unplug the slicer.
Make sure that the gauge plate is in a closed position and the whetstone is out of the way. Remove the product tray, center plate, and the product tray and wash and rinse these components.
In order to clean the blade, you can leave it in place or remove it. If you leave the blade in place, clean it thoroughly. Alternatively, you can use degreasing spray in order to clan the blade. Clean both back and front of the blade while wiping from its center outward.
Wipe down the exterior and remaining pieces. After that, rinse with hot water using a towel.
Oiling a Meat Slicer
Lubricating a meat slicer is just as important as cleaning. You need to keep the blade of the slicer well-oiled so it keeps a consistent and fast rotation. Regular oiling keeps the blade and the machine from rusting.
The best oil for the job is a food grade machine oil. Stay away from vegetable and canola oil since these can turn the blade rusty and blunt.

Its Time...
There are a few events that I want to blog... Let me see -
1. OHD Staff Party 2018  2. Trip to the newest edition to Oasia Cluster (which I am not sure if I wanna share this) 3. S&M Christmas Party
However, let me share this first... Finally on leave until next year. YAY!  Will be leaving for Korea in 4 days time and totally excited for this trip with my favourite ones. We have been planning this for 2 years and finally its coming!  Funny isn’t it? We planned for 2 years but it will end in like 9 days time?
Just like the title of this post, I guess its time for me to move on... resignation submitted and will be moving on to a new place next month.  How do I feel? Mix feelings - been with the company for 5.5 years and to leave this family.... I considered it for the longest time. FAMILY? I doubt so... I am not that significant in the team since everybody also have the equal share of workloads. But to leave my buddy alone with those shits - I guess she can make it right and will be alright?
Submitting the letter was very much easier than i thought. HAHA oh c’mmon, all of us expect more right? Like a counter offer or a plan to make me stay at least? But maybe because I am determined to leave and my direct S knows my desire to leave the soonest. Well, she did ask where i am going, nahhhh i choose not to share. For what I share when I know she will start comparing being a Sales Person and this position. I was surprised that she didn’t insist or should I say she showed no interest at all. So yeah, can I say I am lucky that I had a smooth process of submitting my letter? The whole conversation lasted say less than 10 mins? Well whatever!
Also, I was worried if HR would receive the letter late and the process will take forever! Come to my surprise that it took only 2-3 working days and I know my last working date - and to be specific, it came from my HR executive directly not the direct S. HR wanted me to change the last working date on my letter but this was inform to my direct S. However, this message (as usual) didn’t come to me today.
Today was my last working day for 2018, hence i need to know my last working date before leaving - which why i texted my HR in-charge. OKAY my initial intention was to ask about my pay. And then - BAM - HR IC told me that I am supposed to amend the letter. Out of courtesy, i texted direct S to ask about my date this morning @ 10am, however till now (9.12pm) no reply. Do you think i want to wait and beg for an answer? This clearly show her true self.  OH WAIT - she is busy lah Tin. Yeap super busy, but have time to waste on dancing, rehearsals, costumes and whatever not.. Well ladies and gentlemen, clearly I am not important right? So why must I call this team a family?
Tumblr media
Okay okay, i am being sensitive right? I think nahhh... There were no sincerity and consideration at all from this team. Yeap, for example.... food. Just because majority are non-muslims, they can ‘forget’ about out dietary. Yeap, so much of teamwork ya.
Okay maybe dietary too difficult to remember lah hor, since sometimes I am okay with no pork no lard. But gurl, you have a blardy damn team member who is in head scarf, also can forget? okay okay they can assume lah this team member also anyhow hentam like others lah hor. BUT simple stuffs like speaking farking English in the team also must remind? Oh ya laaa i forget, they did mention before... “oh forget lah you are here... oh its easier to speak in our language to describe this situation...” Hey gurls BS!
I think to keep my sanity and heart healthy, I need to leave. Hah! Didn’t know that this would be one of their tactics to get rid of people. Thats why i never really bothered about those Teamwork advice, quotes or examples shared by the organization. Because my team never practice it - well i don’t blame my team, even the direct S and 2nd direct S never practice it too.. They are one of the examples to those described actions.
I am very glad that I’m leaving this team... but I will definitely miss this organization. This organization gave me the opportunity to experience career advancement, self improvement, travelling and support my family. But the typical traditional way of working processes needs to be improved. And that hierarchy thinging.... I grew up in an environment (be it at home, school and previous company) that practices transparency, open-door and integrity... Here, unfortunately, I don’t see it. People are afraid to be transparent to the staffs, keeping future plans to themselves and only share it when changes are to happen in 1 weeks time or less. People are afraid of the higher management. So what they are the bosses, GMs, HMs, CEO. When you need an answer or advise, why not? I do go up to my direct S for clarifications, knocked my GMs room for answers to my doubts. Why must I be afraid? Yes, they are higher in position compare to me, but aren’t they humans? If I do not know, I should ask rather than sit on it and wait for answers to come from the sky? But nope, people here don’t practice that. “No, next time come to me first and ask. If I don’t have the answer, i will ask the appropriate person for you.” hmmm you played the Broken Telephone game before? know why I don’t like going rounds and rounds for an answer? And when I can get the answer within 10 mins, i need to wait for 10 days? for what????
My only wish that the new place is a better place... Looking forward for the new environment, challenges and of course new team members. This organization is totally different than the current one. It’s gonna be fun - I bet it is. :)
