The little Mermaid

Tony was a smart kid. Always had been. But he was quite known for making some dumb decisions. He knew that he wasn’t supposed to get close to the landwalkers. He had heard the tales of them ripping young mermaids like himself straight from the waters never to be seen again. but they fascinated him. He had learned all he could about his own kind. but above water he was clueless and he wanted to learn everything. So even though he knew it was dangerous, Tony Continued to come closer and closer to the shoreline. watching in awe as he watched the landwalkers wonder to a fro, on there normal business.

Thats when he noticed him. Normally the walkers didn’t get to close to the waters, and yet. Tony glanced over at the small child. He looked sad? Could the walkers actually feel pain? He swam closer. wanting to see, and strangely wanting to comfort him. He knew it was dangerous but something tugged him forward as he stared at him from beneath the waters. and soon he let his head pop up from beneath the waves as he took in the sight before him.

It was defiantly a child. He wasn’t sure if the landwalkers had similar ages to them but he looked young compared to some of the others he had seen. but he was also beautiful and Tony couldn’t help but come a little closer as he looked at him. His dark black hair was hanging infront of his face as the tears twitched over his stark green eyes. a sight to behold that was for sure.

Should he say something? a child couldn’t be as dangerous right? and he looked sad.... maybe if he kept his distance... He allowed his head to come further up from the water. enough so now his mouth was also visible and he swam a tad closer. not enough for him to be within reach but enough so he could be heard.

“Why are you crying?” He asked his voice quiet.
