so what exactly was your issue with the new spiderverse?

Just not a fan of the choice to split stories in half, honestly that's really it. I'm a very simple person; if I come out of a movie soaring and filled with joy (ITSV), I will always count that as a fundamentally better experience than when I leave the theater bummed out and confused (ATSV).

I go more in-depth with my issues here, but that's the short version. obviously don't click this if you want to avoid spoilers

#please please please dont even for one second take this as me knocking the artistry down because the movie is genuinely excellent in that #everyone should drop everything they are doing and go see it just to experience the labor of love that oozes from the screen #it is a tremendous achievement in animation. I'm just one of those bummer story-first guys and it didn't land for me in that #anon #asks #edit for clarity: when I say bummed out I do mean robbed of cathartic clarity in the drama of it all #I love tragedies and unhappy endings and cliffhangers just as much as neat bowties but they still have to function as catharses #for SOMETHING within the plot of the thing they are topping while setting up future closure. this didn't do that for me
