Okay can we talk for a second how Henry almost became his own antithesis?

Like he tried to kill Murphy. Who has an infant kid. He literally almost did a Teddy Gallows and left a baby fatherless just like him.

Oh Henry is the most tragic character by far lol, his entire existence is tragic. He became the monster Teddy tried to paint his father as- a dangerous, reckless delinquent, and he almost made Fernando fatherless just like him, like you said. I do not think the developers explicitly naming Murphy’s encounter as Henry was for no reason, I think it was for exactly the reason you pointed out. And it’s all because his mother convinced him from young that the only reason he was put on this planet was to end lives. Marie’s trauma was passed down to him and he couldn’t do anything about it. It just makes it even more clear that Henry is not doing this to avenge his father- if he was, he wouldn’t have tried to burn Murphy alive, because he would have to understand the importance of fathers to their sons. He is doing this purely to make his mother happy in the only way she has ever indicated he could.

I like how the music still has important messages, and also that the message along with the way they convey it has evolved with us. I’ve grown up with t��p and it’s nice to see that they’re so famous and doing well but at the core they’re still telling us to stay alive and push on through.

Less favoured

I’m going to keep this bit short because I don’t like shitting on their music

imo Clancy is a no skip album like the rest of them, but if I had to pick a least favourite it would be Oldies Station. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a really good song and I love the message but it’s kind of outshone by the rest of the record.

Clancy - Trench connection

There’s no doubt that they’re connected. (See what I did there. Doubt. I’m hilarious.) I think Clancy was definitely designed to kind of pick up where they left off pre-SAI, because the Banditos have finally gotten the opportunity to fight back again.

I also think that we should keep that lyric from Bandito in mind because they keep reminding us. I feel like it’s strange that they keep shoving one specific lyric back in our faces and not really doing anything with it. It could be that Tyler is reminding us that he could destroy it if he wants, and also that the story could take any turn from Paladin Strait.

As for some sort of secret connection between Clancy and Trench, I don’t think it’s very secret at all. Most of it is set in Trench, and also the repeated lyrics, the fact they brought Paul Meany back, the whole rebellion vibe is very Trench.

Theories

At the moment I don’t have any solid theories, but I’m keeping an eye out (or an ear out? I don’t know) for clues I missed while I’m listening. I’m also manifesting a double album and waiting for whatever happens during the tours, so there’s a lot left to unpack with Clancy. Nothing can be set in stone.

Do you have any thoughts on tunneling in WindClan?

it's an interesting concept with a really weak conflict!! which you know, could be said about the entirety of tallstar's revenge. There's no real rhyme or reason why some of the central conflicts happen. Why does Heatherstar wanna get rid of tunneling? Who knows! Why does ShadowClan keep randomly attacking?? Who knows! Why does Sandgorse retroactively get turned into a good guy at the end? Who k- no wait, it's because the writers suck.

I think the most fondness I have for the idea comes from, funnily enough, from the ideas that it's created from other people. I like the concept of tunneling as a representation of the cats overworking their environment, quite literally tearing it up from the inside for the sake of just having more. I also like it as its dissolution being something as a representation of how the Clans prioritize being battle ready over anything else. If it's not there to be an immediate boon during a battle, it's not worth it.

But in the text...there's not much to it? There's no real rhyme or reason. Heatherstar's reasoning is vague and unconvincing. I like the idea of a conflict in the Clan but it's done so poorly that you have to wonder why bother (which i could say about the entirety of tallstar's revenge but whatever).

Some loose ideas:

General notes: Sandgorse must be portrayed as bad in the end, why didn't this happen in the book. Why was he allowed to abuse his son for the entirety of a book then get retroactively treated like just a swell guy in the end. Palebird and Tallstar would have a goddamn conversation when he returns like holy fuck. Shrewclaw needs to apologize?? he straight up tells tallpaw to kill himself????? what is wrong with the books. Tallstar leaving Jake isn't treated as this sad but noble decision, it's a regret that stains Tallstar's mind for moons to come and impacts how he leads (he resents the Clan deep down even though it was his choice).

Move the issue away from it being tunneling and moreso the divide that it's causing. WindClan tunnelers have their own Medic who travels with them to give blessings and administer care, this Medic often comes into conflict with the Moor Runner's Medic and the two squabble on how to advise their leader.

At this time, Heatherstar is seeking to expand WindClan territory right to the strip by the mothermouth. This move makes her very unpopular with the other Clans, specifically ShadowClan. I think this conflict would strengthen WindClan's us vs. them ideals that Sandgorse tries to instill in Tallstar. Both Medics would see this as an opportunity to seize favor in the Clan by having their respect division help win the contested piece of land and (of course) this leads to more conflict.

The Moor Runners win of course and tunneling's very existence begins to come under question. Tallkit is a child during a very tense time with Sandgorse as such a vocal and aggressive supporter of tunneling resulting in him being isolated from his peers. The other queens try to help and support him with Palebird suffering from grief after losing Palebird.

The travellers aren't just a group of random cats who stay because the plot demands it. They should have some sort of attachment such as maybe having helped the Clan in the past or even being ex-WindClan cats who were sent out on some sort of pilgrimage. Either way, Sandgorse doesn't like them and Tallpaw takes after him in this regard.

Have Jake be part of the travellers or have him and Tallpaw meet earlier an establish a friendship. They travelled for like a week, they're barely friends.

Sandgorse and the Tunnellers Medic is killed in the crash resulting in a highly tense atmosphere where Tallpaw is pushed into taking on the role but decides to become a Moor Runner. The hostility from his former tunnellers and the lack of support from the moor runners is what also pushes him to leave (even though he tells himself he's going to get revenge for his father).

fun fact about me! I have hyperadrenergic Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (hPOTS). this means I am prone to fainting when I change positions or when I feel a strong surge of emotion, positive or negative. for me, laughing is my worst non-postural trigger.

you aren't supposed to laugh at your own jokes, so you don't, but then you're too serious. you're not supposed to be too loud, but then people say you're too quiet. you aren't supposed to get passionate about things, but then you're shy, boring. you aren't supposed to talk too much, but then people are mad when you're not good at replying.
