On a more positive note of the Hover discourse, I think you guys did such an excellent job with Storm and making her a form of positive representation for gnc women and butch lesbians. She's snarky and sassy but by no means is she needlessly rude and mean to the people around her. She radiates confidence but she's also kind and silly and overall a very positive person. I think you guys did a great job at making a snarky character likable by making her kind and caring with a sense of humor that doesn't punching down on others. I hate that people seem to think snarky characters have to be mean and rude. Hell, you CAN do those kinds of character right. Hover is just the worst possible way to do it.
Anyway Tl;dr Storm is such a great and lovable character
Thank you so much, anon. And exactly! There's nothing wrong with having a sassy character but sassy doesn't equate to 'be a huge asshole to everyone and being able to say anything because it's tee hee sassy and funny'. There has to be a method to it all. - RJ
It was not lost on me that both Hover and Karabi were both larger, rugged assholes who made unreasonable demands of their stereotypically more effeminate partners. I'm a larger gender-nonconforming butch, so it would be easy to make Storm more like myself. But you know who goes without appreciation too often? Short butches, butches who are chivalrous af, butches who's girlfriends are bigger than them. (butches who aren't crass and are supportive of their friends and aren't emotionally dismissive of everything their girlfriend says........) My big buff cheeto puffs always get appreciation in all my works. I wanted Storm specifically to be the way she is, and it warms my heart people love her for it. - Cat
