#I love the idea of Reyn and Fiora just being absolutely merciless towards Shulk

Before I get started, I want to give my personal headcanons on the birthdays of Reyn, Fiora, and Shulk. This will be important later.

So I think that Reyn’s birthday would be about 1 month before Fiora’s birthday, and about 2 months before Shulk’s birthday. They were all born in the same year. Given all of this information, Shulk would be the youngest of the three, and the youngest member of the main party.

Now on each of their birthdays. Shulk, Reyn, and Fiora have a tradition that involves them tickling one another. To be more specific about this, I’ll give an example of what they will do.

On Reyn’s birthday, Shulk and Fiora will tickle him first, and the amount of time they tickle him for depends on his age. If he just turned 18, he will be tickled for 18 minutes.

After that, Reyn will get to tickle Shulk and Fiora for that same amount of time. This is repeated on Fiora’s birthday, and on Shulk’s birthday.

There is one catch, though. Since Reyn and Fiora are the most evil tickle monsters known to Bionis, they do something different with Shulk.

They will take Reyn’s age (since he is the oldest) and divide it by 2. Whatever the quotient is is the amount of time that Reyn and Fiora will get to tickle him for on their birthdays. For example, if Reyn just turned 18, he will tickle Shulk for 9 minutes on his birthday, and Fiora will tickle Shulk for 9 minutes on her birthday. They will tickle each other for the same amount of time as their age (18 minutes for both Reyn’s birthday and Fiora’s birthday if they just turned 18).

It doesn’t matter if the number can’t be evenly divided by 2, they will still split it up into halves. For example, if Reyn turned 27, then he will tickle Shulk for 13 minutes and 30 seconds on his birthday. Fiora will get the same amount of time on her birthday.

What will happen when Shulk’s birthday comes around? Well, they’ll add their two halves together, and they will tickle Shulk for the sum of the two halves that they got for each of their birthdays, which will correspond to Shulk’s age. In the 18-year-old example, Shulk will get tickle for 18 minutes on his birthday.

So the purpose of all of this is to make Shulk anticipate a longer tickle session on his birthday by denying him the normal tickle sessions that Reyn and Fiora will have with each other on their birthdays.

P.S. Once Shulk’s birthday comes around, and there are only 5-10 minutes remaining until the end of his tickle session, it’s sweet spot time. Reyn and Fiora will purposefully avoid Shulk’s worst spots to build up anticipation for the final few minutes. When the times comes, they go all in. How Shulk is still alive after all of this is a mystery.
