They were and still are the best duo in the Batfamily
#I love it when they just hang together on the side#I love Batman Knightwatch#yeah it can be simple/childish but it has fun low-stake adventures and cute character interactions as you can see#both of which we desperately need in current comics#Damian Wayne#dick grayson

I love when comics mention that Bruceâs biggest fear is losing his family again. And the fact that he considers all the younger bats his family melts my heart:

I present our Killer Moths!
1.Batgirl Year 1 Killer moth. (Very silly and works with Firefly at one point) (now with 2 nomination)
2.Detective Comics (#969) Rebirth Killer Moth (Very tight costume. Tiny wings are cute)
3.Killer Moth from the Teen Titans Cartoon (DILF)
4.Underworld Unleashed Charaxes (is Drury but monster version, Killer Moth adjacent)
5.Lazarus Planet: Dark Fate (flutter flutter flutter)
6.Batgirls #11 (Bat Girl Summer. Is the same artist as #12 just different Inking team)(is cute)
7.Gotham City Villans Anniversary Giant #1 (the happiest man in Gotham)(loved his cat)
8.Batman Knightwatch #4
9.DC Superhero Girls ep âstealth 101 part 2â
10.DC Pride (2022) #1 (costume is nice)
11.Arkhamverse (as a character profile)
12.Batman: The Misfits
13.New 52
14.Batman Bad Blood (kind of looks like Firefly)
15. Batman the Brave and the Bold
16. 2004(both Normal and Beast) set up against himself to even out numbers
17.Batgirl #37 (2019)(personal pick)
I added 1 personal pick because I had to merge 2 of the submissions. Contestant #6 from the Batgirls run was nominated from two different issues. Itâs the same main artist but different Inking teams. But I still wanted to have 2004 be against himself with his two forms so I dropped in contestant #17. I felt it was appropriate to put a Batgirl version in the place of a Batgirls version.
Same with the Firefly picture submissions, send as many as you like but please label them.

I just read your joker war post and first of all, love your take on it! Makes me like the arc a bit more! Also when you say, "The Batcat engagement took place in year 16. (In which Batman also had Joker locked up in his basement. And he deliberately tracked down amnesiac!Joker and made him Normal Joker again so he could get information. Yowza! Not cool, Bats.)" I had NO idea about either of these things, can you point me in the direction of these scenes??
Thank you :D that means a lot.
Also yes, I think (?) the Batcat engagement takes place in Batman (2016-) #25-32
The Joker thing is referenced in Dark Days: The Casting and Dark Days: The Forge.
I don't think it directly says that Batman deliberately gave Joker his memories back but it's heavily implied since Bruce had to use his weird little machine to get his memories back, there's no significant Joker appearances between Endgame and Dark Days (I think there might be minor ones in Knightwatch and Urban Legends but I disregard those because it's a different storyline so I'm assuming the writers just weren't communicating ). But yeah presumably Batman did something to amnesiac!Joker to get his memories back because it doesn't seem like it could've happened naturally.
#like i said my source for everything i haven't read is the batman continuity project#which is generally quite reliable but yk#the engagement thing is just timing btw#i only have a loose grasp of the timeline lol so i'm just trusting what i've been told#distort-opia made a post about it i believe (???) but i can't find it rn đ#also my understanding of the whole dark days tbwl multiverse shit is extremely limited so apologies lmao#it hurts my brain sorry đ#asks

Child Safety 101
AN: Continuation of âI Think Iâll Just Collapse Right Here, Thanksâ, found in Why Do They Kick Me?
Note: Mark is a trauma surgeon, not a GP, but heâs also the only one Jason will let within doctoring range, so.
* * *
The Knight has been down and unresponsive for literal days. The first day was the diciest, because even Mark hadnât been totally sure if heâd pull through, but his fever had gone down enough to remove him from the danger zone.
Once it had become apparent that he wasnât going to die on them-because Antoineâs sorry, but no way is he continuing this crusade in the guyâs memory or whatever, if the boss dies, he is leaving-, theyâd had a meeting and, essentially, made a chore chart for who had Knightwatch, who had Armywatch, and who got to nap.
Itâs a fairly efficient rotation. And so far, at least, theyâve managed to keep the news of, well, everything under wraps. All the men know is that the boss is down but that he will be fine, carry on as normal. They donât know that the helmetâs off.
And. Oof. Of all the crackpot theories theyâve jokingly tossed around, this wasnât one of them. Antoineâs not sure which one heâs more stuck on: the fact that the boss is a teenager, or the fact that the boss is-was-Robin. Theyâre so intertwined that it doesnât really matter, itâs justâŚ
Antoine is not a parent. Heâs happy to keep it that way; the best part of uncle-ing is dosing them up on sugar and releasing them back to the parents. So he doesnât really get the whole âelectrical outlets are a Great Dangerâ thing. But he does get, maybe a little better than your average parent, the sick, twisted fucks of society. Heâs worked with a handful. Spoken with more. He still remembers, years after the fact, that one guy...he ate people. Literally. Heâd put a toddler in the oven-alive-andâŚ
Yeah.
But this is a little different. This is...itâs one thing to hear about it. Itâs another thing to be faced with it. And itâs another thing entirely to see it. That fucking tape, manâŚ
He stretches out a bit, pops his back and rubs a hand over his side, feeling rough scar tissue. What a week. What an absolute hell of a week.
Heâs on Knightwatch now, because everything outside is moving smoothly without him and Frank really, really needs the nap. The boss is finally sleeping peacefully, curled up on his side with one arm flung up to shield his face. Heâs still shivering on and off, and he sounds congested as all get out, but the worst of it is over. No more screaming, no more pleading.
What now? He supposes theyâll stay the course, but heâs not sure, not really. Maybe this is the end. Maybe the boss will vanish in the middle of the night.
Jesus, that explains so much. Batman taught him all this weird shit. Batman...this is, arguably, entirely Batmanâs fault. What sort of weirdo...never mind. Never mind.
As ever, he figures, this is a nasty combination of neglectful adult and opportunistic predator. This is the same thing as that one girl in his sisterâs apartment complex that got kidnapped. Six years old, mother said, âyes, yes, go play by the road alone!â and she got abducted and murdered. Somebody should have been watching her.
Somebody should have been watching the boss.
Doesnât matter. People are watching him now, at least, whether he likes it or not.
He coughs and rolls over, one arm slipping off the bed. Antoine sighs and puts it back, straightens the sheets out like heâs seen Frank and his sister do, and wonders whatâs going to happen now.
They could, he supposes, figure out who he-and by extension, Batman-is. Jimmy could run a facial recognition at the minimum. But they havenât, and they donât really intend to. Curious as they are, they owe him their lives and...and no matter how this turns out, heâs their boss and they wonât.
Antoineâs sort of lost in thought, caught up in memories of that little girl (what was her name?) and the cannibal and the utter confusion of everything, when the Knight suddenly jerks upright like heâs gonna make a break for it.
âShit--â
He twists over and only feels a little sorry for forcing the Knight back down. The sorry feeling vanishes when the boss tries to fight him.
âNo--â
âYou gotta be kidding me--â Itâs not much of a fight, but heâs still trying, which is incredibly unfair. âHow even--there.â
Okay. Thereâs no easy weapons in here, which is all he can ask for. Heâs not interested in being held at gunpoint again, thanks.
âYou back with us, sir?â
The Knightâs quiet, breathing hard and seemingly very interested in the ceiling.
âWe have an intruder,â he says, voice carefully flat. âI want every available unit search--â
Uh-huh.
âYou wouldnât have held this intruder at gunpoint, would you, sir?â
Silence. Thatâs what he thought. Theyâre professionals, for heavenâs sake. People donât just get into their super-secret hidden base. That just doesnât happen. Their own people have gotten lost trying to find their way back to it! Intruder, humph. That hurts.
âŚ
Yeah, okay, heâs trying to maintain the facade of normalcy. Like. The helmetâs off, man, any weird-ass theories anybodyâs had have now been put to rest in favor of the truth. But both of them are probably going to be happier if they just pretend that nothing has changed.
(Which is half-true. Baby Robin or not, the guyâs still scary.)
âWhat day is it,â he finally says, voice scarcely above a whisper. Antoine hits the call button.
âMarch third, sir.â
âShit.â
Yup.
Thereâs no good response to that and the boss goes slack, one arm flung over his face. A minute later, Mark throws open the door with a grumpy, âWhat the fuck was that.â
âI--â
âWent the fuck down in the middle of the day thanks to a one-oh-four degree fever,â Mark seethes. âYou have. The goddamn. Flu. People die from the flu, straight-up die, and you didnât think to mention it! Iâm not asking for much here. Just a little heads up. Yâknow, âhey, Jones, Iâm feelinâ pretty crappy, think you can poke your head in to make sure I didnât die in the night?â âOh, sure thing, boss, happy to help, feel better!ââ The smile he plasters on is frightening. The boss doesnât like it, not one bit, and to Markâs credit, he drops it pretty quick. âWhat were you thinking? Anything? Really, Iâd love your thought process.â
ââve handled worse on my own,â the Knight mumbles, somewhere between sheepish and stubborn. âThought a walk would clear my head.â
Sad thing is, Antoine believes him. The brand alone is not pretty, and while Mark hasnât said much, what he has shared is disturbing.
And. Well. Itâs not like the boss has been totally silent for the past few days. Once or twice heâd woken up screaming, the kind of awful sound Antoine associates with three-feet-thick walls and Professionals. Hell, Mark had collared Trent to come and look at something, and while neither of them are sharing, thatâs Bad. Trentâs not a doctor, but he knows how to hurt people...and what they look like after.
âWell, it made you worse. Youâre lucky you didnât kill someone or yourself, parading around like that. Aight, you sit up, you clear out.â
Gladly.
âFeel better, sir,â he says. âWeâve got things handled out here, so just get some rest.â
âOh, he doesnât have a choice. Come on, up-up...be lucky if I let you out of my sight again after this...fâI have to give you weekly check-ups, thatâs whatâll happenâŚâ
Fuck Batman, Antoine thinks tiredly. This is his fault, things never should have advanced to the point that his...sidekick...kid...whatever ended up like this. How is Gotham not screaming about kids and guns anyway, huh? That just seems like Child Safety 101. He certainly makes sure all his toys are locked up tight when the niblings are over. He sure as hell wouldnât give them a dull knife and tell them to, like, fight a trained mercenary. That seems like a terrible idea.
Whatever. Itâs not going to go any farther. Boss he might be, but heâs just not going to be allowed to be an idiot, thatâs all there is to it. No more vanishing off somewhere for three days, heâll just have to check in or something. Frank can bully him about that. Itâs for his own damn good.
THE END
