What-if Lieutenant Paget was more than a reference to Sidney Paget, the illustrator known for his Sherlock Holmes illustrations? Paget (specifically one of his brothers) looked enough like Sherlock Holmes to the point of spawning an urban legend about Paget using him as inspiration for Holmes's look. He was also, obviously, an illustrator. Who also looks like Sherlock Holmes and can draw? Sherlock.

Jon shares appearances with John and says "You don't need me anymore" to Sherlock. Lieutenant Paget could have a similar enough appearance to Sherlock and says "[You have] other men to save" to John. Jon and Paget are passing the torch to who the other is suppose to be partners with. Sherlock Holmes and John Watson are a set always destined to meet and become the iconic detective partners; those who come before are still bound by that narrative.

Also... Sherry and Sidney has similar sounds and cadence to echo a Jon and John just to make it even more of a crazy what-if idea lol

... Ignore that John and Sidney are in suits. I didn't want to spend the time (which I did not have) researching which uniforms they would have worn and probably make some mistake anyways.
