He's so lost and unsure but the way he keeps moving forward is so inspiring! And the mc and connor's blooming relationship is super cute to see. The world building the author is able to make from Cage's chicken scratch is amazing too! And philosophy!

i haven't really thought out much about her yet, and shes not really based on any specific Disney character, but i have some fun facts about her-

Her shirt is the same style as Epel's, because its a spare pomefiore shirt that Rook gave her during her first week at school. She's really scared of him though. Her first encounter with him was him commenting on her messy uniform, (since i doubt that Crowley would do much more than just grab whatever's in the lost and found basket for Yuu and call it a day) Rook basically drags her to Pomefiore to play dress up while she tries desperately to find some excuse to leave jkhfdfdshhsd

She wishes she could have just kept the job as a janitor instead of being a student at first (but she comes to like school starting the second year) since she enjoys cleaning and tidying and just going for walks, so being an errand runner for Crowley didnt seem too bad to her.

Because of this i wanted to make Floyds nickname for her "Vampire squiddy", since they feed on marine snow and are generally one of the "cleaners" of the deep sea. They live really deep in the sea, matching her gloominess and dislike for crowds and bright light. BUT THEN I REALIZE THAT LILLA CALLED DIBS ON BEING VAMPIRE SQUID so now i don't know anymore... i guess shrimpy still works..

Ever since accidentally stepping on Leonas tail she's been avoiding him like the plague. She thinks he's still mad at her, and nearly cries anytime she sees him dshdhdhdfhj she thinks he's super scary

Callie signs her name with a heart, Marie is too lazy to finish signing her name it just trails off to nothing.

I don't have specific heights in mind just that Marie is taller (Callie is wearing platform shoes in 3 sorry it's a fact). Also in fable the range skills make you tall and the strength skills make you buff so charger/roller get that too. Simple.

They r the same age. Unless it's funny. Aka one of them being like when I was your age then they explain what they did a week/month/whatever ago.

Not girl, hashtag girl. Callie also isn't picky about who she's with.

Marie was very Girl when she was working as an idol but she's free now. Also she only likes Callie because mental illness.

Callie decides who gets to be the big spoon sometimes it's her sometimes she wants to be held, Marie doesn't really have a preference tho.

Callie steals clothes and loses them, she has that vibe. She has So Many and still takes Marie's. Marie doesn't necessarily want to lend them but Callie will just take them anyway.

Marie isn't a pet name kinda squid... She'll use Cal but that's just a nickname. Callie loves pet names because they embarrass Marie.

:) Marie will disappear you if you're bad to Callie. She was always protective but after 2 she maybe went a little. Hmm. Callie is afraid of being alone so she ends up being over protective about Marie at times, too, but more. Normally.

Callie loves dates and going out and casual relationships and meeting new people. Marie misses when she had the idol excuse as to why she doesn't date. She feels intensely inferior because Callie HAS been with people with experience, so what if Callie is just humouring her? She isn't as good as the other people. Callie could be with anyone...

Listen. I think Callie has an insanely high sex drive. So much so Marie has given her permission to just "do whatever" even when she's asleep. Callie wants her to return the favor but Marie isn't as into it. Guilt tends to override any arousal, then inferiority, then general depression, then if she ever gets on meds?? Man. :/

Callie is awkward but she doesn't realize it. She says or does weird things and doesn't realize other people think it's awkward. Marie said she could smell that Callie was around. Girl get help <3

Marie is so jealous :( Callie is regular jealous but Marie if left unchecked could be abusive about it. Not letting Callie go out or getting real passive aggressive like "wow why did I even save you if you never want to be home with me? No it's fine go, you don't care about me anyway"

8-Man vs. Cyborg 009

Who's this schmuck? Just kidding, I did some background research and apparently 8-Man is one of the OG cyborg heroes to come out of Japan, predating Cyborg 009 by a year. He's called 8-Man because the scientist who turned him into a cyborg failed this experiment 7 times before getting to him. Yikes.

Crappy name aside (apparently the mangaka also had a manga called "Wolf Guy," which I find hilarious), it's a neat idea to put two OGs against each other. I'm sure the boomers are excited lol. (Come to think of it, Japan's population skews older, so it would make sense that this sort of thing would be published now).

Ch. 1

Coming from the BGOO Parts manga, the art feels a little clunkier and dated here. Backgrounds are very simple and there's less detail in how the characters are drawn. It's still faithful to the original series though and that's good enough for me.

Just like with BGOO Parts, they're rehashing Black Ghost stuff again, with some retconning along the way. Series that resurrect the same villain over and over are so dull. Please do something else writers!! :(

Why did the skull-masked guy (Cyborg #22) look kinda kawaii tho? They drew his eyes all shiny and cutesy.

They flashback to the end of volume 10 AGAIN. I guess that really is the most iconic moment of the franchise, but with every flashback it's losing its charm.

There was a diagram explaining 8-Man in the front of the manga and I guess he uses cigarettes as a power source? First of all...huh? Second, that's the most 1960s thing I've ever heard.

Also in the front of the manga is an image of Joe carrying a beat up looking 8-Man. Way to spoil it! I wonder what the vs. in the title is implying? Are they going to be rivals and then team up or are they straight up pitted against each other?

Did they pair these two together because they were like "8? 9? You get it? Eh? Eh?" What if it was 8-Man vs. 008 lol. It would have to be underwater randomly I suppose.

Ch. 2

Okay I stand corrected, I guess 8-Man isn't a cyborg...he's closer to an android, but he has a human consciousness so...he's not really an android either.

This was like, the exposition chapter. They wrote this assuming the reader was new to 8-Man and maybe Cyborg 009 too so they gotta hastily give little wikipedia summaries of what the reader missed lol. Not enough exposition for me to know who the robot bossing 8-Man around is supposed to be though! Maybe that'll come later.

I see the obvious parallels with the stories here, both cyborgs/androids/whatever were created as weapons but their creators wanted more for them. 8-Man has a little more of a film noir vibe tho with the detective aspect.

How the heck is a cigarette a "cooling" tool? My brain does not compute.

So 8-Man is being ordered to attack Joe, I guess. I wonder if he's been misled about Joe's background? He kinda helped him out back there with the cigarette, so I guess he's showing hesitation.

Ch. 3

So I guess Black Ghost's motive is to "resurrect/summon the God of war Ares by sacrificing one of the heroes..." Not Greek mythology again...please. I can't take it anymore!

8-Man's hands kinda look like Mickey Mouse gloves teehee

Dr. Tani and Dr. Daemon look so identical to me that I had to swipe back a few pages and compare them. I finally excepted they weren't the same person when Dr. Daemon referred to Dr. Tani in the third person lol.

We get more revelations about how 8-Man's machine brain works. He retains every memory (either OP or awful) and Ivan can't read his mind. I forgot Ivan could read minds in the first place? I feel like he doesn't do that much.

This manga has a lot of two page spreads, which I appreciate. They make the reading experience more cinematic, it moves things along quicker in general (no dialogue), and it looks great on my giant tablet :D

Ch. 4

The villains from the respective series place their bets on which hero will come out victorious. It gave me Squid Game vibes (but obviously less gruesome).

It's kind of funny how the villains are low key rooting their corresponding hero on, wanting to show off their nemesis to their new friend.

Kinda awkward how the other numbers cyborgs are just tagging along waiting for 8-Man and 009 to be done. I guess there's not much they can contribute, which is probably why BGOO Parts gave everyone accelerator mode...

I enjoyed the shot of Joe and 8-Man outrunning the shinkansen. That was fun.

Ch. 5

After the battle between 009 and 8-Man, Black Ghost and Dr. Daemon attack and kidnap Joe, Francoise and Azuma. Black Ghost reveals their master plan to harvest memories from the cyborg so that they can resurrect the 3 brains that make up the "true" Black Ghost and put them in a giant robot body.

I'm not fully clear on what Dr. Daemon gets out of all this? I guess he gets to help rule the world or something?

The way they depict Francoise's ability makes her seem hilariously useless. She's supposed to be able to detect things from very far distances but every time she senses something it's like 2 feet away from everyone lol. Like she'll be like "something's coming...from the ocean!" and the gang turns around and it's right next to them. Thanks for nothing lol.

The demon God statue (taken from the original manga) looks kinda silly. It's bird beak makes it look like it's from Darkwing Duck or something haha.

Ch. 6

Okay 8-Man and Francoise getting all flustered once Francoise implied that her and Joe are in love was really cute. I wanna see more scenes of them getting to know each other and becoming friends :D (not likely)

The concept of world domination via a giant space satellite/demon God statue is pretty badass, not gonna lie. Very classic evil guy plan.

Seems we can now drop the pretenses that this is going to be a "versus" situation and everyone will just team up in volume 2. Pretty predictable.

Is the island representative's absolute favorite because she has a soft for the grandma like behaviors. (I don’t care if she’s not old. She might not be I’ll always think of her old)

Snarky Recap - Thunderbirds Are Go: ‘Chaos - part two’

The One Where Chaos Meets Order.

Business as usual for International Rescue. But looks like the tinies are home alone, which leads to the following brilliant piece of dialogue:

Alan: ‘Did someone say space rescue? I’m on it!’

Gordon: ‘Actually, he just said situation.’

Alan: ‘Mmm, close enough. See you in space.’

I think someone ought to cut down on Alan’s daily sugar intake. *squint*

 But halfway through gear up, Big Bro announces that the GDF bot has the situation under control.

‘This is the most embarrassing moment of my life.’ Nah, could be worse. You could have been wearing your Spongebob Squarepants boxers. The ones you got from the kids’ section when Grandma wasn’t looking. But look at that poor pup’s face. My heart is breaking, yo.

Meanwhile, at the GDF facility, Captain Rigby’s patience has proven to be thinner than Mars’ atmosphere. He’s going to try and roast Havoc. Something is telling me that this is just what she’s been hoping for.

Just as Rigby goes full on bad cop mode, Havoc appears behind him, having deployed a hologram that’s sitting behind the table. A few seconds later, she effortlessly sprints past Rigby and the guard. TOLD YOU.

Back up on Thunderbird 5, John is spinning a hologram Earth with all the vigor of a drugged hamster. Poor Space Trash. 

That is... until he picks up an automated distress signal that could turn into a situation. Thank goodness for the high altitude civilian transfer station and its faulty rotor blades. International Rescue is go, fuckyeah!

Just as Scott is getting all excited about no longer being useless... oh never mind, bots on the way. Better luck next time, LOL.

Speaking of being employed, Kayo and Captain Rigby sure have their hands full with their escape prone prisoner. Havoc not only managed to trick her would-be interrogator, she also disables GDF ships and steals mysterious briefcases like it’s the easiest thing in the world. 

IT’S HIGH NOON.

Captain Rigby feels confident that the power of numbers will see Havoc back in her cell.

‘Oh but you’ll have to do a better job searching me this time... soldier boy.’

SHOTS FIRED.

Never mind, Captain Rigby. Your former charge blows her way out of the prison, where her personal Uber is waiting to take her away. 

Rigby: ‘Can somebody please get me a plane?’

Meanwhile, on Tracy Island, Brains has figured out why the GDF are not being very active: they are caught in a feedback loop that freezes their decision making protocols. Time for the humans to step in!

Also, Alan’s response to Scott giving them the green light to go on a rescue is all kinds of effing precious.

Kayo has intercepted the Chaos Cruiser. Havoc’s response is the need for speed.

‘They think they can go fast. How cute.’ NYOOOOOM.

Fuse launches some smart and stubborn rockets in Kayo’d direction but you’d have to try a lot harder to take down Thunderbird Shadow. 

Lady Penelope reports in, having a bit of a ‘situation’ of her own.

If that bot gets any closer I’m pretty sure it’s not the dog that’s gonna need rescuing, teehee.

Virgil, Gordon, and Scott, have arrived at the slanted civilian transfer station, ready to intervene.

Virgil: ‘Alright, I’m gonna try and get this thing horizontal again.’ That’s what she s-yeah, too easy, I know. *hangs head in shame*

Scott gets to try out a new toy called the Skypod...

...and Virgil is definitely joining Gordon’s enthusiasm regarding seeing that thing in action.

‘How come Scott gets all the best gear?’ Yep, TOTALLY not jealous.

When Virgil’s efforts to align the platform are failing, it’s Gordon’s turn to head out there. With a little help from his brother, who knows just how to motivate Squid Boy. 

All chase and no play make Fuse a dull boy. That is, until Havoc tells him to give her GDF loot a go. Which just happens to be a GDF rescue bot remote controller. Oh boy.

This guy is the Thunderbirds Are Go equivalent of every gaming lobby’s worst troll/tryhard.

Gordon is their first target, but no one messes with Squid Boy when Nanny!Virgil is around.

Oh, to make matters worse: these things are pretty tough to destroy or reprogram if you don’t have the right tools...

Poor MAX. Talk about most embarrassing moments...

Up in space, it is time for Alan to intervene before the suspended passenger cars are being crushed.

Alan: ‘Lemme see if I can... pull a few strings to help you out.’

Oh no, he didn’t.

Kayo can’t be fooled by an empty bridge. Or a sneaky hatch. Bye bye, controller. Look at all this badassery. We are not worthy.

The moment Virgil realized he should’ve brough his shades along for the ride. Poor lumberjack pup.

Kayo gracefully re-enters Thunderbird Shadow and proceeds to disable the malfunctioning bots, thus ending up saving the day like the badass queen she is.

Bots everywhere stop working on the spot. In some cases this leads to somewhat uncomfortable situations...

Is that an abstract painting up there or has Virgil drunk-painted a Google Maps search? Hmm. *squint*

And finally, the Hood meets up with his Chaos Crew. As expected, Havoc did get something far more precious out of her prison adventure: the Mechanic’s whereabouts. Has that poor fella not been through enough yet? SERIOUSLY.

Anyway - this episode definitely made for a great two-parter, but part two was far more entertaining if you ask me. We’ve got the rest of the season set up and I’m looking forward to both season arc and standalone episodes!
