FINALLY SOMEONE PUT IT INTO WORDS!!! I donā€™t think Zepotha is a bad idea, it was just terribly executed. No one on TikTok is putting much effort(that Iā€™ve seen) into actually putting together a story. There are bits and pieces, like the Forrest scene, or Maxine and Alaines underlying homosexuality, or like how there are sequels(which honestly makes it more confusing cause then it just adds too much in the beginning of the creation). Even then itā€™s just people being like, the Forrest scene scared me, and then they donā€™t add anything to it. Like at least put effort and give something. Even most videos are like, ā€˜this was such an obscure movie that was ahead of its timeā€™ or something, but then they donā€™t say anything about the characters or scenes. ITS NOT BELIEVABLE! Goncharov was believable because there was actual context and conversations for the scenes, it wasnā€™t just, ā€˜oh the bridge scene broke meā€™, it was people giving in-depth analysisā€™s of scenes. IT MAKES IT FEELS GENUINE. Goncharov was created by creatives, whereas Zepotha feels like people just wanting to be in on the joke and nothing more. I love the idea but thereā€™s too many people who want so badly to be in on the joke that they add shit that just convolutes everything. How do you add them? Thereā€™s like a google doc I think so maybe if more people read it and then started genuinely having conversations about the characters and scenes(and maybe cinematography and special effects to add more substance) instead of just being like ā€˜you look like ___ from Zepothaā€
okay look, the real reason that zepotha shit is never gonna be Goncharov (besides it being a marketing ploy) is because Goncharov was treated like a fandom (collaborative including celebrities, built upon over time, openly fictional) & zepotha is treated like a tiktok trend (no collaboration, dies fast, treated like reality recklessly). it doesn't matter if it's interesting or cool or what, they've been built on completely different foundations. you're comparing Spiderverse to Endgame here. hydrogen bomb VS coughing baby. zepotha will never have Lynda Carter & Martin Scorsese's approval.
