I’ve been rereading Walt Simonson’s Thor run, aka the best one aka the one that will make you hate Thor: Ragnarok. It clearly drew heavily from the run, and I get changes happen…but c’mon you don’t spit on the source material as you do so.

Remember Skurge?

The joke? With a gag death?

Well here’s how it goes in the comics. They are in the run from Hela, having liberated some souls. Thor is badly injured, but repaired to make a stand…until he doesn’t.

Skurge’s axe by the way was lost while destroying an indestructible ship and single-handedly delaying the apocalypse.

Remember how they made his death a “well that happened” moment?

Almost literally he just jumps needlessly into the fray and Hela looks at him like “what”

A one off gag? Irrelevant to the finale battle?

A joke! This? A joke!

Where is Taika Waititi? He has much to answer for.
