Omg I am so sorry for being so late. I usually get to these things pretty fast but moving house has been taking up, literally all my time 🫠🙃 But here are some rambles for ya!

☕ Do you do warmup sketches before drawing? (Bonus: do you have any to share?

Answer, yes and no lol. I don't usually have any type of warmups that I do besides getting my first initial ideas down immediately. It depends on what I'm drawing going into it, but usually I will just draw a couple different things until I land on the thing I wanna further render. Really, it's just throwing stuff at the wall that looks absolutely incomprehensible until something happens 🤷

The best example I can give of this is a potential redraw of the Jack speed paint I did ages ago, and these thumbnails on redoing it

📏 What’s your go-to canvas size?

8½ x 11 is my go to! Just a real standard paper size. The doodle dumps however are about 10 x 16. All other canvas sizes are completely arbitrary and adjusted on the spot as needed >:)

🖍️ When did you start drawing? Do you remember?

Since the beginning baby! Since I could physically hold a crayon I started blastin! I have had a little more than 20 years of doing this and I'm also self-taught. I have taken no formal classes or lessons on this kinda thing.

WOW something NOT ely related?! anyways ana and ad's whole love arc is kinda like... they both have responsibilities and unrequited feelings. moreso than my other oc x canon pairings. i think them a lot

cove jumpscare. IDK I WAS THINKING ABOUT THE MATCHING KEYCHAINS HE BUYS FOR MC... this is reiner btw i was playing as xim in my like 3rd playthrough >_< xe's fond of spoiling him with gifts, more than my other mcs...

day 13: nightmare

it took me 13 days to break and make sans x shelby art SJWKDJWJ anyway. shelby doesn't meet him pre-corruption but whatever i think they're cute

day 14: makeup

I HATE THIS DRAWING RAAAA but ely likes asking to do his nails ^_^ even tho theyre terrible at it but he doesnt mind :3c

day 15: "you are my happiness"

ok uhh my bad this isn't oc x canon LOL. but... erfi and ana... have a lot of angst like halfway/early in their arc bc erfi sees her as a beacon of light/savior, especially due to her current relationship with the ppl in her life.................... they get better dw!!! ad goes through a similar arc so i think that was how i tied it into the oc x canon promptlist LMAO

SORRY i just think it's a super funny possibility that zim becomes domestic. idc if it's out of character thats why its funny U_U!!

oh and uhm yea i have a fankid 4 these guys... have i talked abt her... i dont think i have... but ive drawn her a lot... maybe ill post more art abt her later...

uhhhmmm im gonna crop this for my tumblr.... yea.... anyways i love the possibility that when they're adults they become super popular, like in dib's wonderful life of doom X)

day 19: voicemail. THAT ONE THING I POSTED!! yes it was a shelby x error thing. i was listening to pick up the phone by fir at the time, which like, its not the errorshelby dynamic at all they're not toxic, but. the vibes... in the fic after shelby leaves the anti void he has a massive crisis... thats what the drawing is...

day 20: "what happened to you"

HELLO HI this is just what i’m currently thinking about nonstop and i just wanna share a couple things since well, i really want to ramble about it haha

this idea stemmed from me wanting to redraw something i made in 2020, just when i was starting to learn how to make digital art, and it ended up expanding into an entire comic?? so uh, i don’t know if it fully counts as a redraw anymore but i think it’s cool anyways B)

i’ve always wanted to make a comic but was too intimidated to ever start until now. by doing thumbnail sketches first, it definitely helped me a ton with making it more manageable to approach. before whenever i would try i would try to go for it in one go, and wellllll that doesn’t work out too well. plus, at some point, you kinda just have to start working on it whether you think you’re ready or not

ANYWAYS this has just been a lot of fun to imagine and puzzle out how i want to present the story. it’s just gonna be a one shot essentially, idk if it’ll make that much sense but y’know, i’m having a good time anyways. thanks for reading my rambles haha.

I think I did this like,, 9 ish months ago?? I kinda wanna redraw it since it came out somewhat wonky. I dont know why but the thumbnail came out better than the finished painting... So yeah, This is def on the list for things to paint this summer. Also HC, Alfred has dimples.

ASDFGHJK Thank you for the lovely ask! I am in no way a master, but I shall try my very hardest to be helpful! 💕💞💖 1. Thumbnails: So when I’m drawing, I will start with a thumbnail to figure out composition. Let it look like shit, and don’t sweat details. I’m talking 3rd-grade stick figures, but don’t forget to include notes for more details that are too fine to convey in a thumbnail. See below for examples (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧ 2. References are your best friend: Go absolutely ham on finding references for anything and everything. I’m talking about poses, trees, clothing, color palettes, all that. There’s a lot of negative connotations with using references for some reason; ignore this. Don’t copy another’s work, and you’re good to go. Below are some Pinterest boards I've made that I reference often. 1 & 2 3. Colors: Oh, boy, my nemesis. Colors are hard. Like... very hard. Consult the sacred texts of color palettes and make your own. Each of my OCs (and characters I draw often) have their own palette that includes their skin tones and related colors. 4. Tools: This one can get a bit tricky as we all use different tools; however, there are a few basics to this. First of all, make sure you’re comfortable when drawing. Have a good seat and don’t crane your neck too much as I do. Second, the grip in which you hold a stylus, pencil, pen, whatever is paramount. Hold it better you’re middle finger and thumb, leaving the pointer-finger free. Your phalanges will thank you. 

5. Workspace: One thing I learned the hard way was how big you make our canvas. I used to work in inches but learned pixels are where it’s at. I like to use big canvas areas; doing this will make things less pixelated. On Procreate, I work in 4000x5000 pixels but in Medibang or Clip Studio Paint, I double those dimensions.  6. Stamps: this is kind of a cheat, but what the hell. Make or download stamps when you can. I have stamps for anything from eyebrows and eyelashes to repeating triangles. I’m not lazy, just conserving my energy. 7. Draw what you love: Now I’ve taken my share of art courses. I learned the basics, turned in assignments, but it was joyless. I sat there for 4-hour stretches drawing a vase in different lighting until I lost my mind. Find what you love and draw it. Like corndogs? I don’t know; just draw corndogs! Love your OCs as I do? Draw them! The best way to improve is really just loving what you’re doing. 8. Practice: this one kinda sucks because it’s the generic answer for “how to get good.” Now, I’m nowhere close to where I want to be in my art skill, but I’m way closer than I was three years ago. Redraw things! Draw different things! Fuck up and try again! 9. When in doubt, ask: Drawing just like writing, is hard. Don’t be afraid to reach out to friends or other artists for direction. I can’t tell you how many times I bother my friends with a WIP and ask what it’s missing. When you stare so long at something, it’s hard to get over that wall.
