it was supposed to be lone wolf and cub space western not the star wars avengers
Turns out, the titular Mandalorian is no longer considered to be just Din.
"I think that's been interesting as we've been on the journey of the show, and now that we're at this point, is that, what does that title mean?," Famuyiwa told IGN.
"Who is the Mandalorian at this point? And so I think it could be anyone. And I think that's what they're trying to define in many ways, is what does that mean to be Mandalorian?"
As mentioned by Famuyiwa, the latest episode of The Mandalorian saw Din (literally) step to one side and (literally) pass the mantle to Bo-Katan, as she took the Darksaber and stood ready to unite the Mandalorian people.

Hello I love your writing! Most of all the Mando storys! Will you write more for him soon? Did you like season 3?
Hello and thank you, dear anon! I'm always thrilled to hear from people who like my writing, and Din is particularly near and dear to my heart! 🥰🥰 I have a handful of WIPs with him already (and a train car full of ideas that I'd love to write someday). There is one in particular that I've been polishing up a bit in hopes of getting it posted someday soon, BUT I don't want to promise anything because I am notoriously bad at sticking to any sort of deadlines or timeline as far as writing/posting goes (especially when my real life gets busy like it is right now) 😅🙈
As for season 3, I finally watched it a couple of weeks ago, and... (Mando s3 spoilers below the cut)
First of all, let me just emphasize that this is my opinion and my opinion ONLY. It's not my intention to rain on anyone's parade, nor do I want to argue with anyone about it.
So... if you loved season 3, that's great! And I love that for you!! I know some people who were delighted by it, and I'm happy for them, but sadly, that was not my experience.
In general, I found that I needed to... hmm, let's say... adjust my expectations somewhat to be able to enjoy the season 3? I think mostly because I loved s1 & s2 so much, and it seemed like these most recent episodes never quite lived up to the same level for me.
Basically, there were a lot of places where I felt like the plot, dialog, and/or characterization could have been tightened up or handled differently to better effect. I often felt like cohesive storytelling (and/or in-universe physics—hello, 30 second trip to the core and back, I'm looking at you) took a backseat to checking off plot points, and the chance for greater emotional engagement was ignored in favor of video-game-style high-speed chases and/or fights, which like..... yeah, those sequences were cool and all, but I never really felt all that invested in the outcome because it seemed like the show skipped over the groundwork needed to.... make me care?
Ironically, the bit of storytelling that I found most interesting and did emotionally connect with was the part of ch 19 focusing on the "rehabilitation" of Dr Penn Perishing and other Imperials, which……… turned out to be just a way to snip that particular loose end and lead us back to Moff Gideon. And really, there seemed to be a lot of shoehorning in bits of the wider Star Wars universe, often in ways that placed the emphasis on that to the detriment of... the rest of the show. (A bit like they were so excited to show us the forest, to the point that they forgot we also wanted to see the individual trees, perhaps?)
Eventually, I did realized that part of the reason events felt so random was that I was expecting more of Din's story, but that's not what Season 3 is anymore. It's Bo Katan's story, with Din and Grogu along for the ride. (Sort of the reverse of what happened with tBoBF, I think, and I found it equally awkward there.) Once I resigned myself to the fact that I was watching The Bo Katan Show, some of the storytelling choices made a bit more sense, and I do like s3 marginally better when viewed through the lens.
TLDR (because that got really freakin' long--sorry, anon 😅) I liked season 3 okay, but I felt it could have been handled better, and I wish the focus had stayed on Din and Grogu's story because that's what I'm most interested in.
Like... C'mon, Favreau, where's The Mandalorian, Supplemental Chapters: The Further Adventures of our Favorite Tin Can Space Man Dad Bounty Hunter and his Green Bean Son?!?!?

A Moment in Time- Ch 3
Whew! almost 3000 words later, here we are!
After extracting herself from her grandmother’s hug, she giggled and turned to make sure her parents were ok with her leaving the counter. After getting the approving nod from her mother who moved to fill her spot, Marinette skipped around to guide her Nona upstairs. The elderly woman laughed before tugging on her granddaughter’s arm to stop the over excited teen. “before we go and talk, my Fairy, I want you to meet someone. He was just going to put the up-” the bell rang again as Gina spoke, and when the duo looked over, Marinette froze. The smile that had been floating on her face sliding off in shock as a face came into view she hadn’t seen in 11 years.
“Jason?”
The room seemed to freeze at Marinette’s question, the crack in her voice pulling her parent’s attention. The man entering the building zeroed in on her, his eyes widening as he looked to where his name had been called. “Marinette.” He breathed her name before striding towards the small girl and pulling her into a tight hug. The teen clung to him in return, shaking as she was enveloped in her older brother’s arms for the first time in years.
“Are- Are you. This isn’t.”
“No, Mari, this isn’t a dream. I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere.” A sob crawled its way up the teen’s throat as she buried her face in her brother’s shirt. From somewhere outside of their little world, the girl could her someone calling her name. Someone was trying to get her attention. Jason poked her in the side, obviously concerned. “do you want to answer them or should I?” when she looked up at him confused, her older brother sighed before smiling down at her. “I’ll take care of it.”
When Marinette finally started to tune back into the world around her, they were upstairs. When she looked around, she realized that it wasn’t late afternoon anymore, but it was mid-evening. The lights outside the window glowed in the darkness, and a light rain falling. Shaking her head, Marinette forced herself to focus on what was going on in the small sitting room of the apartment. Jason was still next to her, and Gina was perched on the side of the chair opposite them. Her parents were sitting on the couch, looking at her in concern. “I…. what did I miss?” Her father’s laugh made the embarrassed teen look up.
“Oh, little flower.” The fondness in his voice led to Marinette looking up. He made a face at hat that she returned, before the two started to laugh. Her mother elbowed him, before smiling at her.
“Welcome back, dear. Don’t worry, there weren’t too many stories making their rounds.” The girl flushed before turning back to her brother.
“what did you- “
“Don’t worry, Mari. I didn’t tell them any of the good stories. I just filled them in. It’s not every day that a strange guy comes in and starts hugging their kid.” She scowled at him before nodding.
“ok.”
“Marinette, why didn’t you ever tell us about Jason? If we had known…” The siblings cringed.
“I… um.”
“She got caught. At the time Marinette didn’t know where I was because I was trying to get her out without the police or social workers figuring it out.” Tom froze, confusion obvious on his face.
“what do you mean, Caught?” Jason glanced at his sister, surprised.
“you didn’t tell them?” the teen shrugged.
“I didn’t think that it was important once I got here. Jason, you know what it was like. Why would I want to relive it once I was away? It…it was like a fairy tale. Well,” here the girl flushed. “Once I stopped trying to run away and board a plane. Something about that made them kinda frustrated.” Her older brother threw his head back and laughed.
“only you Mari. Only you would try to sneak on a transatlantic flight.” He studied her. “how far did you get?” the girl smiled devilishly. “they were taxiing for takeoff before they realized that there was something wrong.” He snorted before holding his hand out for a high-five.
“nice.” The Dupain-Cheng couple gaped at the duo in shock while Gina laughed.
“you- you. Why is that. She could have been hurt!” Jason raised an eyebrow at that.
“Mr. Dupain, have you ever seen Mari in action? If she was going to get hurt, she would have gotten off or taken care of the threat.”
“I-she CAN?” the girl laughed.
“Papa, you have to remember how tame Paris is compared to Gotham. I don’t have the need for many of the skills I picked up while I was a kid. Plus,” here the girl sent her brother a side eye glare. “I felt safe here. And I kept an eye on Jason. I have an ongoing hack of the GCPD.” Jason froze before whipping around to gape at her.
“YOU WHAT.” The look of shock on her face made the girl giggle.
“I figured that if you were getting into trouble I would be able to see what was going on better that way. Of course, there is that other hacker…they keep pushing me out. But its fine. Whoever Oracle is, they are always a step behind.” Jason gapped at her.
“Mari. You’re out hacking Oracle? She-Uh THEY are legendary! It’s said that she helps the Bats!” The teen sniggered at his response.
“then they need a new hacker. I’ve been out hacking them since I was 8. And if you ever meet them, you are more than welcome to tell them that. It’s a shame, really.” Jason stared at her, shocked.
“oh Mari. PLEASE don’t pick a fight with the Bats again. Or, you know, their INTERNATIONALLY FAMOUS hacker.” She raised an eyebrow at him.
“wanna bet? I can win a war with them by the end of the week. And the Bats are just wimps. We’ve been over this.” Gina Dupain chose this moment to interrupt her granddaughter.
“Marinetta, what does Jason mean start a fight with Batman again?” The teen started ton invent new shades of red.
“I…may have started loudly calling Robin names and when he came to stop me I beat him in a fight. With Jason’s help, of course.” The older woman studied Jason with a knowing look that confused Marinette before she shelved the conversation for another time.
Through the din of the conversation that the five had fallen into as Jason and Marinette caught up and Gina explained how she knew Jason, cut the dinner timer. Sabine smiled and she rose to gather the plates needed for the group. As she did so, she motioned Marinette to join her. Once the two were standing over the oven as Sabine pulled out the chicken and Marinette served the rice and green beans to go with, the mother paused and looked at her daughter in worry. “Marinette, why didn’t you tell us about your brother? We could have tried to bring him over-” she was cut off by the noirette shaking her head.
“no, mama. Jason was the one to teach me to avoid CPS and the GCPD. Everything I knew? He knew and was able to do better. I was caught because I was trying to help another kid who didn’t know what they were doing and took me down with them. The only reason he got caught at all is probably because he did something incredibly stupid and daring.” The Chinese woman nodded before pulling her daughter into a hug.
“well I’m glad that we got you, even if its because of another person’s mistakes. You are the greatest blessing in your father’s and my life.” The girl ducked her head as she hugged her mother in return.
“I love you too, mama.”
At dinner, Gina regaled them with stories of her adventures with Jason. When Tom expressed his surprise at some of the things Jason had tagged along on the Gotamite laughed.
“you do know the only reason Bruce got me was because I was caught stealing the tires off the Batmobile, right?” Marinette choked, snapping to lock eyes with her mother.
“I told you he did something stupid.” The woman laughed in agreement, while Tom studied the young man in front of him.
“who did you say adopted you? A Bruce?” Jason rolled his eyes.
“Bruce Wayne. Gotham’s resident billionaire, and the collector of lost children.” Marinette narrowed her eyes.
“This wouldn’t be the same Bruce Wayne that the entirety of the media has decided I’m either dating the son of or am the newest child of, would it?” Jason laughed.
“yup defiantly the same Bruce. To be fair, he’s been on a quiet kick with the adopting thing. We think he’s planning something. And, in my defense, the only reason I knew what was going on was Tim can into my apartment simmering in anger that the press was stalking him again.” He paused, “oh and I went to pick up one of the tabloids so that I could immortalize his shame and was met with your face.” Here he turned to Marinette. “if they hadn’t run that story, I may never have seen you again.” The watery smile that he was met with made him smile.
“let go back to the Batmobile for a moment. What were you going to do, just leave a note after taking the tires? Write a quick thanks and leave?” Sabine’s humor quickly lightened the atmosphere as everyone laughed.
“no, actually. I was going to leave a red chrysanthemum.” Jason’s response made Marinette break into giggles.
“you were going to leave my sign? Jason!” the rest of the table looked around, clearly lost. Taking pity on them, Marinette went on to explain. “the red chrysanthemum is my favorite flower. Its also one that we were able to get ahold of easily in Gotham. Jason always called me his Chrysanthemum because it means hope. He called my Chrys when we were with other kids so that I was harder to track. He literally called me his hope for years. Its also why,” here she looked her grandmother dead in the eye, “they are the symbol for my brand.” The older woman tossed her head back in a laugh.
“only you, Marinetta. Only you.
After dinner and Gina and Jason had reluctantly left for the night, the Dupain-Cheng family sat and talked together a while more before separating to move towards bed. Afterall, they did have a bakery to open in the morning. When Marinette was sure that her parents were asleep, she opened her chaise. There, buried under piles of blankets and spare fabric and next to one of her specialized embroidery machines that had been packed away to save space, was a black rectangular box with a red chrysanthemum carved into it. Breathing a sigh of relief, the teen pulled out the box and settled her hand on top of it, letting her magic seep into the wood. A moment later, the box was expanding, opening, and giving her access to the box of the Miraculous of the Chinese Zodiac. Plagg zipped to join her as she studied the jewels in front of her before settling her hand on the Bee Miraculous that she had been puzzling over for weeks. The Kwamii looked at her before he finally sighed. “kid you know what you need to do. As much as we don’t like it, the girl is a good match for Pollen. Plus, you and the Bug need a rest. Without the Bee you know that the rest of your team won’t fall into place.” She smiled at the Kwamii before looking down again.
“I know Plagg, but…what if she says no? Lady Tyche and I can only do so much, and I don’t want to open our group to someone who is going to pull an Alya. I spent months training her with Tyche before we even let her come to an attack, and she still had the audacity to believe Lila. I don’t want to bring someone else into the fold and have them flake.” The miniature cat god nodded at his chosen as she drifted for a moment, thinking about days gone by. “ok Plagg, Let’s Make Mischief!” as her transformation fell over her, Apate stretched, preparing to wander into the night. Her luminous blue eyes, catlike and glowing in the night, narrowed as she made the jump, her black boots landing on the balcony. The black suit resembled a black track jacket, with the bottom half resembling close cropped cargo pants. Her boots, while silent, had a heel, giving the petit girl a very well needed few inches. Her black hair, while long and free flowing in daily life, was now held back in a French braid. The gauntlets on her forearms glinted silver in the moonlight, and the bracers on her shins reflected the light from the streets below. Apate’s hands flexed, the reinforced gloves flashing as her claws extended. A small smile crawled over the Vigilante’s face as she scanned the ridgeline of the building across from her before she detached her baton and let herself fly away from the small bakery.
When she landed at the Tower, the cat-like Vigilante settled herself on one of the beams looking out over the night. Her eyes focused on a figure in the distance and followed it as it made it’s way closer. When the figure landed next to her, Apate grinned up at Lady Tyche. The Blonde smiled down at her more violent companion. Her braided ponytail shifted in the wind, and the dark mask made the smaller girl roll her eyes. After almost four years, the two were pretty good at reading each other. As Lady Tyche settled next to Apate, the red hero smiled. Her garnet suit shifted in the moonlight. The black reinforced areas along her shins and arms seeming to disappear into the night to the naked eye. The older miraculous wielder had been apprehensive to let Apate redesign her suit from the bight red that had black spots everywhere. Apparently, it was a Tikki staple. When Apate had shown Tyche the simple garnet suit with the black shading on her sides, and the reinforcement on her arms, the hero had changed her tune. That had been three years ago, and since then the girls had grown closer. They had realized somewhere down the line that they must be in the same grade because they had chosen names that mirrored the Greek goddesses they had been learning about. When Apate had found out the box was based off the Chinese zodiac, she had laughed to herself. By then, it had been too late to change her name to honor the origin of the box.
That evening, the two had gotten together to once again debate the idea of adding a certain Bee to their ranks. This had been a topic for almost a year and the duo were apprehensive at the thought of adding an unknown this far into their battle.
“What did Tikki say?” When Apate broke their silence, Tyche sent her a small smile. They both knew that Apate was the more anxious of the duo. There was a reason she worked better in the shadows. The idea of adding the Bee, well it was keeping her up at night.
“She was all for it. After she heard what Wayzz had said, she agreed with him. adding another holder and setting up our team is the right move.” The girls exchanged looks. Apate took a deep breath before nodding.
“Plagg and I have been talking. With our final year in Lycée ending in eight months, he agreed that we need to try ad wrap this up.” Tyche snorted.
“I don’t know about you, but I am ready to leave Paris. If I can leave for University, it would be amazing.” Apate nodded in agreement.
“does that mean we should go visit Chloé?” Tyche hesitated.
“Actually, I was thinking. I know that we have been careful, for years now, but we both know that we’re getting closer to our identities. Would, would it be ok if we-” understanding settled on Apate’s face. She thought for a moment before nodding.
“well, there isn’t a Guardian to tell us no anymore. Plus, it might be good for us.” Both girls laughed as they stood. “how about this. I have to go get the Bee anyways, so come with me, and we can do the reveal nearby. That way we can be sure its in a secluded place.” Tyche nodded as she readied her yoyo.
“which way, Kit-Cat?” Apate laughed and jumped off the tower, letting herself start the trek back to the quaint Bakery that currently was housing miniature gods.
OK! so, Apate is the greek goddess of Decit, Tyche is the greek goddess of luck. i wanted unique names. thats all.
moving on, i’m not sure if anyone had noticed or not, but i think i’m allergic to ahving Adrien as Chat Noir. i’m debating adding him in as another Miraculous but we will see. i can’t really think of one i like for him.
yes! chrystantamums are going to play a big part in this. im goign to lear a little bit of this up too. Marinette was adoopted by the Dupain-Chengs when she was about 5. she is Jason’s half sister. she is incredably bright and i have a thing for crazy smart Mari so she skipped 2 grades and is a year away from university. she does not know Jason died yet. the time where Mari was kinda out of it, i’m useing as a plot device so that i can skip stuff. basically, Jason explains that Mari is is his little half sister and that they were out on the streets all of her early life before CPS picked her up. they share a father, not a mother. Jason is crazy protective of her.
anywhoooooo have a goodone yall, and ill see you soon wiht another chapter, probably.

Thinking about how I was discussing season 2 of The Mandalorian with my brother the other day (mainly giving him a summary of what’s going on so far since he wants to wait until it’s over to binge it) and I kept referring to Din, outloud, as Din and he confusedly stared at me long enough that I cut myself off and asked, “What??”
“Who’s Din?”
“Din! Y’know? The Mandalorian!!”
“Wait y’mean Mando??”
“Yeah, Din, that’s his name. It was revealed at the end of S1!!”
“Oh! I just call him, Mando.”
And right there and then we both just looked at each other and realized that the other was on a separate level of response to the show. Him, casual and chill, likes the story well enough, thinks the characters and lore are cool and interesting, and overall enjoys the show. Me, invested and emotionally attached, is Here for the adventures of one (1) Space Cowboy Dad and his Tiny Green Bean Son, really interested in and fascinated by certain characters and lore, mayhaps the show is the chosen emotional support show it is.
#THE FUNNIEST THING ABOUT THAT EXCHANGE IS THAT BETWEEN THE TWO OF US HE’S THE ONE WHO IS ACTUALLY MORE INTO STAR WARS#BUT THEN DISNEY+ SAID HERE’S THIS SPACE VAGABOND WITH A VALUABLE ASSET#AND THE RESPONSE TO IT WAS#SIR THIS IS JUST A SPACE COWBOY THRUSTED INTO FATHERHOOD AND THE KID IS A CUTE GREMLIN#AND I#A CURIOUS AND EMOTIONAL FOOL#THOUGHT IS IT REALLY LIKE THAT HMM I GUESS I’LL CHECK IT OUT#AND WAS A DAMN GONER FROM CHAPTER 1 ONWARD#So yeah TL;DR I’m emotionally invested in this show and it shows#The Mandalorian#Din Djarin#Grogu Djarin#Star Wars#Ani Rambles

“Break the routine” - (Din Djarin x Fem! reader)
A/N: Finally someone asked for something from our beloved Mandalorian. enjoy it.
Blurb Request: Hi, can i request the number 8 of Sarcastic Little Shits with the Mandalorian, please???? I love all your stories. thank you :))
Sarcastic Little shits. 8. “I didn’t do it!” “Then why are you laughing?” “Because whoever did it is a fucking genius”
By now, I’ve been part of the crew with Din and the Child for over a year. Our relationship, at first, was somewhat tense, but over time the Mandalorian’s been more communicative, although sometimes he can’t handle with my rhythm, I’ve always been accustomed to being in constant motion- I’m quite restless.
On my home planet everything had to be fast, so by accepting this job- helping Din with Razor Crest and caring for the baby- I thought everything’d be full of adventures.
In a way, when someone wanted to take the baby, it was all action, but most of the time we’re in space searching for a safe planet.
It's been two weeks since the routine’s just waking up, being with Din in the cabin for a while, playing with the baby, eating, talking, eating, playing, and blah blah blah… Very boring, until I came up with a brilliant idea.
To pass the time I decided to return to my favorite hobby: to make jokes.
At the beginning it was just putting another seasoning on Din's food, hiding his weapons or hiding throughout the ship and then shouting his name as if we were in danger… but everything changed when the serious Mandalorian hid my bracelet and pretended not to know where it was, what he didn't know was that he’d started a war.
One day we managed to reach a snowy planet, which leaked into one of the ship's engines so we had to wait longer. Din went to get work while I went to town for food and clothes along with the baby.
Shopping, I found three cans of green, yellow and pink paint, the first thing I thought was that it’d be a good idea for the child to paint something, but the idea of a joke improved it.
The night arrived and we returned to the ship, we arranged our things I and put the paintings on a table. I left the baby in his crib, I didn't know what time Din would return, so I only prepared food for myself and the baby, though I left something for him.
After eating I arranged everything for my little prank. I took the pink paint and put it in a high corner, I tied it with a fine thread so once he passed the paint would fall on his armor. A plan even dummies could understand.
The sound of the ramp puts me on alert and I try not to laugh, I run to the other side to get away from the trap and pretend everything’s normal, but baby babbles distract me, I lower my eyes and almost get a heart attack when I see the baby walk towards the thread.
I run to him and quickly take him in my arms before he can cross the trap, the little creature just laughs.
"That was close…”
"What are you talking about?" I look up and see the Mandalorian a few inches from the thread.
"Nothing, I was just playing,” He shakes his head, I leave the baby on the floor and he walks to his crib.
Din walks the rest and breaks the thread, I close my eyes waiting for the joke.
"Ha!"
"You're good?" I open my eyes and see the confused man. I see the floor and the thread’s broken, but the paint didn’t fall.
“Crap…” I sigh.
"What are you planning now?" I huff at his mocking tone.
"I was thinking of a joke, but you managed to ruin it,” I pout and he approaches.
"Why do you suddenly want to make jokes?" I bite my lip.
"Lately it’s been boring to be here without doing anything…” There’s no point in inventing any excuse. Din’s silent for a few seconds.
“I thought you liked being here…”
"I love it,” I quickly say, "Don't misunderstand me, I like being with you and the baby, it's just that-“ I add nervously, "I'm not used to the routine, we’d never been so long alone in space"
He nods.
"We could do something to change it,” I smile.
"We could," I stare at the visor of his helmet.
Suddenly the pink paint falls just above his helmet, staining the Beshkar and even my hair and my arms. I gape surprised. Din bends down and grabs the bucket.
"Was this your joke?" It sounds annoyed, but not even his anger manages to avoid the great laugh that I let out when I see him.
I laugh so hard that my throat and stomach hurts. Then he does too, his shoulders sharing at the action.
“You know what? I didn’t do it!” I say after calming down a bit, drying the tears.
"What? Then why are you laughing?” He says, confused.
"Because whoever did it is a fucking genius," I laugh again, before anyone could say anything else, we heard someone else's laughter.
Din turns and I follow his gaze.
The baby laughs and claps awkwardly, at that moment everything makes sense.
"Did you make the paint fall, my little bean?" I say as I approach and take him in my arms. His small hand touches my painted arm and then passes it over his face imitating his parents.
Din and I laugh at the tender action, I guess he wants to get out of the routine too.

Helping Hands - Chapter 4
Series Masterlist here
Chapter Summary: Natasha makes Haley an offer, Haley and Loki share another late-night conversation during a storm, and a plan is formed.
Chapter Warnings: Mention of previous injuries, implications of previous abuse
A/N: I KNOW the gif is our dear Sir Thomas Sharpe. But he has black hair, so just, like, pretend?
“How are you feeling?
Haley squinted and blinked away her slumber, lifting her hand to shield her eyes against the glare of bright, sterile lighting above her. A quick mental check of her body with a few small twists and stretches, and she could fairly confidently answer Nat with a grumbled, “Probably better than you. Healing just as I always do.”
The bed shifted, and Haley finally opened her eyes enough to clearly see the lethal blonde perched on the side of her bed, looking a bit worse for wear with dark circles under her eyes and a gray tinge to her skin. Somehow she was still gorgeous, which was honestly just unfair. “You didn’t have to do that for me.”
Color stained her cheeks, and she dropped her eyes to her hands, pleased and confused to see that someone had scrubbed the blood from them while she had been sleeping. Probably the same person who changed her into the itchy, thin gown that scratched against her skin. “It’s nothing.”
“No, it’s not. You could have died.” Nat winced a bit when she reached up to brush a bit of hair out of her eyes, dropping her hand to her side. “Once I’m healed up, I want to help you, too. Say a bit of fight training? I don’t want you to ever need it, but in my experience, it… helps.”
She didn’t know Natasha’s past. She didn’t know anything about her besides the fact that she wasn’t gifted any superhuman abilities like her or Loki, or given some sort of serum to make her different, like Bucky and Steve. But there was wisdom in her brown eyes, shadowed with pain and a darkness that worked to pull her full lips into a frown and knit her brow together. Whatever she had faced before living in this tower and fighting for the good of others, it had given her an understanding of the unease that lingered constantly at the back of Haley’s mind. That much was clear.
“I’d like that, yeah. Thanks.”
Nat nodded her head, standing up slowly and heading toward the door. Just before she left she waved her hand at the bedside table, calling out, “I caught Loki leaving that for you this morning.”
It was a plush black hoodie, the exact same as the one that had been cut from her body the day before, freshly washed and still warm from the dryer. She reached over to hug it to her chest, smiling at the glow that stretched within her at the familiar scent of spice and mint lightly perfuming the fabric.
She would have known who had gifted it to her even if Nat hadn’t spilled the beans.
~
They were so high in the sky the thunder rattled her teeth just before each blinding flash outside the floor-to-ceiling windows making up an entire wall of her room. The dark sky rolled just beyond her eyes, illuminated with frequent lighting to reveal heavy clouds thick with rain that pelted the glass in fat, heavy drops. It was too much. To go from a life spent underground, rarely seeing the sun, to practically living inside the vicious storm was proving too frightening to handle alone.
And sleep? Out of the question. Not even with the comfort of her hoodie wrapped around her and all of the blankets cocooning her in the middle of her expansive, too soft bed could she keep her eyes closed once the deafening boom and crack of the storm battered against her ears.
She left the solitude of her bedroom, a sliver of hope guiding her to the living area where she yearned to find a distracting companion. If her efforts were futile, at least the space was bigger, and it wouldn’t feel as if she was right in the nasty elements. Her silent prayers, given to any deity that would listen, were answered in the form of Loki, draped across the couch and watching television with concentrated curiosity.
“My brother appears to be quite angry this evening.”
She scurried over to sit beside him, crossing her arms over her stomach and balling her hands up into fists in the fabric of her overly long sleeves. “Thor?”
Loki paused the television, dropping the remote onto his lap before running a hand through the midnight black locks spilling over his shoulders with a nod. “The God of Thunder, as he was known on Asgard, and as some of the ancient Midgardians worshipped him. What became a trip seeking freedom and adventure in our youth accidentally started a bit of a following amongst the Nordic people, centuries ago. Quite fascinating, really.”
She blinked. “So he can’t really control Thunder. It’s just a name.”
“Oh, no, he most certainly can. Lightning is more his forte, though. I am sure if you ask him he would be more than happy to demonstrate for your entertainment,” Loki corrected her with just a hint of bitterness lacing his tone.
“But he can’t do magic like you? He isn’t like you?”
Just then a particularly close bout of thunder shook the tower, and she squeaked, pressing herself further into the back of the couch so that her leg rested along the length of his and the back of her head brushed against his hand. His thigh was warm and firm through the combined layers of fabric of her pajama bottoms and his jeans.
The devilish smirk that he directed her way made her tummy flutter oddly beneath her hands. “No one is like me, little one.”
She didn’t know a man’s voice could go that low and sound with such promise, soothing like cool satin and teasing her skin into tingling goosebumps. Normally, any deep voice she heard was laced with threats and growls, demanding things of her that she didn’t want to give. But, if Loki was seeking something with that heated tone, some instinctual part of her knew that it would be good. His eyes shone as his hand dropped from behind her to curl over her shoulders, his thumb rubbing gentle circles over her arm.
“The storm cannot reach you in this tower,” he assured her, glancing up at the deluge muddling the bright lights of the city that never slept. “You are safe.”
They all kept repeating that: safe. Sometimes it didn’t sound like a word anymore. Like it had lost all meaning from how often it was repeated behind sad smiles and heavy sighs. She knew they meant it, but it didn’t silence the nagging doubt at the back of her mind that couldn’t place Mr. Shaw with the still faces she had climbed over during her escape.
But it was quieted when she was curled up next to Loki beneath the strong weight of his arm, searching his expression for the telltale signs of pity. Pity made her feel weak, like some broken doll with too big brown eyes and full lips that had its hair shorn off by a vengeful toddler who didn’t know how to properly play with the nice things it had stolen.
But the understanding that permeated his lingering stare?
That made her soft, warm and content and hopeful. For what, she wasn’t sure. She didn’t have a name for the tiniest flicker of longing that itched in her fingertips. Could his silken hair soothe that need?
Where were these thoughts coming from?
She had to blame the reality television Sam and Darcy had insisted she watch - to "teach her the ways of the world", they’d claimed. Or maybe it was the soap operas Nat had suggested.
“I know that you have not seen much of this realm. I was watching a program concerning the Nordic nations I spoke of earlier. Would you care to join me?”
It was better than sitting in the darkness of her room all alone. And Loki wasn’t terrible company, even with the unnameable feelings stirring in the pit of her belly. “Sure.”
He restarted the television before disappearing for a few minutes, leaving her to stare at the lush green fields, black sand beaches, and jagged cliffs cut into mountains of snow and ice that sparkled so brilliantly she thought she’d never seen anything more breathtaking. The din of him rummaging around stopped just before he came back to the couch, settling back against her and handing her a plate of treats and a steaming cup.
“Hot cocoa with miniature marshmallows and whipped cream, and double fudge brownies,” he supplied, taking the plate and balancing it on both of their thighs.
She couldn’t stifle a moan when the sweet sugary dessert melted on her tongue, closing her eyes to savor the taste.
“I thought you might like those,” he mused, taking a bite of his own brownie before turning his attention back to the dancing green and blue lights across the night sky on the screen. “Ah, northern lights.”
“Are they real?”
He smiled gently at the awed expression on her face and gave her a small nod. “They are. I will ensure you see them one day.”
~
“Absolutely not.”
Loki’s rage tensed along his back as he faced down the entire Avengers team.
She had faint memories of brightly colored pictures on a beige wall, young men dressed in outrageous outfits and all posing seriously for the camera, women grouped together and pouting with silver eyeshadow and wavy hair. The Avengers reminded her of those distant images, grouped together with solemn expressions on their faces.
“I gotta side with Loki on this one,” Tony agreed, taking off his glasses and shoving them into the pocket of his jeans, following the fidgeting gesture with both hands so that his shoulders almost touched his ears. “She isn’t bait.”
“It’s the best shot we have of luring that asshole out of hiding. He’s going to want her back.”
She didn’t know anything about the black, eye-patch sporting man separated from the rest of the gang. He had strolled in, called for a meeting, and then waited impatiently for everyone to congregate in the living area. But his voice was hard, his black suit - stark, and his stare - cold. It reminded her too much of her former owner - the topic of their discussion.
“Fury.”
The unknown man - Fury - stood up and leveled Nat with a frigid glare. “Get her ready. We’ll catch this bastard.”
And then he left just as quickly as he’d come, pulling out his phone to make a call, effectively cutting off any further attempt at talking some sense into him.
It was hard to breathe against the terror that seized her like a vice. Nat, Steve, and Tony all approached her at the same time, but it was Loki that turned and reached her first, tugging on her wrist until her trembling frame was tucked securely beneath his arm.
“I won’t let him touch you.”
And somehow, she believed him, mentally holding onto the fervently whispered promise with a death grip that only rivaled that of her fingers clutching at the folds of his shirt.

More fictional character choices: Din Djarin or Marcus Pike?
marcus pike seems like someone built a Perfect Boyfriend in a laboratory but the moment he switched the channel from casablanca to watch sports instead my clit shrivelled up.....except i do suspect he’s the type of guy that would be content to watch whatever you wanna watch........which i know sounds ideal but actually is just anxiety-inducing bc then how do you know if your tastes are truly compatible??? listen if dating him means art museum dates i’ll sign up.....except he’ll probably tell me he loves me like a month into dating me* and i’ll have to shove his face back down in between my legs while i desperately try to think of what to say skdjjdkd awkWARD but even though i wouldn’t reciprocate yet he’d wait patiently for me bc he knows he’s found a keeper he doesn’t want to lose and then i’ll finally confess my love during a heated argument probably even though i’ve been feeling it for months but couldn’t form it into words until it just tumbles sloppily out of my mouth when i’m running high on Emotions i’m A MESS
despite my earlier answer explaining why i think din and i couldn’t date, if the pragmatic side of my brain shuts up....i’d be so down for space adventures with din and the green bean unless people are constantly hunting us down and trying to kill us. “dating” would probably just be the two of us laying molded to each other in the pitch darkness of his bunk, whispering our stories to each other and cuddling and making out. like, i can’t resist the opportunity to let this touch-starved man get his fill. he’d be in safe, sensual taurus hands here. it wouldn’t be easy but the rare moments when i’d manage to amuse him and get a laugh out of him, barely discernible and muffled by the modulator in his helmet, knowing his eyes are crinkling up at the corners under there because i’ve felt it even if i haven’t seen it, would make it worth it.
this is really just me being contrary, but DIN is my choice this round.
*dudes always fall in love first yall....maybe this is just my experience??? maybe i’m just a cold repressed bitch scared of emotions???
GIVE ME TWO FICTIONAL CHARACTERS AND I’LL TELL YOU WHICH ONE I’D RATHER DATE

Top Thai Restaurants in Singapore
Arguably one of the most popular cuisines around the world, Thai food has a huge fan base paralleled by few others. A delightful mélange of flavours makes it as loved as it is. Singapore has a mind-boggling array of Thai restaurants that will keep even the critics happy. Vegetarians and vegans need not worry either, there are many Thai restaurants in Singapore that offer a decent selection of veg delights. Here is our pick of the 9 Top Thai Restaurants in Singapore, for Vegetarians and Vegans, in no particular order. The list includes both mid-range and fine-dining Thai choices.
This list is by no means exhaustive – its based on personal experience or recommendations by vegetarian friends. We requested the restaurants for images of their food, and some complied. If we missed out your favourite vegetarian-friendly Thai restaurant, do let us know by commenting on this article. Vegans, please note that although several of the dishes exclude meat, eggs and dairy, please do check with the particular restaurant about your specific dietary requirements.
Long Chim
Chive Cakes Dark Soy Garlic Chillies (Photo credit: Long Chim)
A much loved Thai restaurant helmed by celebrity chef David Thompson, Long Chim transports you to the streets of Bangkok, with both its interiors and its food. The unpretentious restaurant serves authentic street-style Thai dishes with a host of vegetarian options, in a casual setting.
Besides having vegetarian dishes on their a-la-carte menu, Long Chim also serves a Vegetarian Set Menu (S$69++) which offers common Thai choices like vegetarian spring rolls, green papaya salad, and aromatic vegetable curry; and not-so-common ones like chive cakes, beancurd seaweed asian celery broth, grilled long eggplant; to name a few. Indulge!
Oh, did we forget to mention that the celebrity restaurant is also value-for-money – think Vegetarian Weekend Brunch Menu at just S$49++. We have tried their vegetarian lunch, check out the review here.

Jim Thompson
The Best Phad Thai Noodles I’ve Ever Had
When you’re talking about the best Thai restraunts in Singapore, Jim Thompson’s name has to be right there among the top ones. An excellent Thai restaurant with a dedicated vegetarian following, and definitely one of our favourites! Start your meal at Jim Thompson with the off-beat Siam Sunray (S$26), aptly referred to as “Thailand in a Glass” – think delicate flavours of Thai spices like lemongrass, ginger, kaffir lime and even red chilli.
For soups, its always hard to choose between the Tom Yam or the slightly-sweetish Tom Kha Pak (S$20) with a creamy coconut-galangal base. A meal here must always always have a salad – choose from any of the Pomelo Salad, Green Mango Salad or Green Papaya Salad and you can’t go wrong. From the mains, our favourites include Phad Thai Noodles (S$22), Gaeng Khew (Green curry, S$22) and Gaeng Phed (Red Curry). The Tau-Hu Phad Priew Wan (Stir-fried tofu and vegetables in a sweet and sour sauce, S$20) is also a winner, although on 1 or 2 occasions, it was a wee bit too sweet. Wind up the meal with the mandatory Mango Sticky Rice or go for something different and healthier like Som-Chun (S$12) – a mix of fresh oranges topped with lychees, shredded raw mango, sliced ginger, toasted coconut and roasted peanuts, served in ginger syrup.

Patara
An elegant Thai restaurant that has been around for almost two decades, Patara has made a mark with its dishes. With a separate vegetarian menu, you can choose from a range of appetisers, salads, salads, mains and desserts. Some of the veg dishes to try here include Tom Yum Hed or the Soup Phak (Clear broth with mixed vegetables). Among the appetisers, try the Porpia Jay (assortment of crispy spring rolls), or the Kaffir Corn Fritters. For mains, Patara offers an array of vegetarian gems like the Gai Jay Krapao (sautéed mock chicken with garlic, chilli and crisp basil), Tofu Ob Mor Din Jay (baked tofu and vegetables in a clay pot with ginger and spring onions), Gang Kiew Wan Hed (Green Curry) and Gang Dang Phak (Red Curry).
To wind up your meal, venture beyond Mango Sticky Rice and get adventurous with Durian Sticky Rice, Chocolate Lava with chilli chocolate or Mun Chuem which is caramelised tapioca with coconut milk. Patara’s 3-course Executive Set Lunch (S$20++) has vegetarian options too.

Thanying Restaurant
Exquisite Fruit Carving at Thanying Restaurant (Photo credit: Thanying)
Located in the chic city hotel Amara Singapore, Thanying Restaurant is all about authentic royal Thai food served in a traditionally decorated space. I still remember Thanying as being the first Thai restaurant I went to when we moved to Singapore 12 years ago. I haven’t been in over a year now, but for years we freuented Thanying regularly for vegetarian Thai food.
As a part of the royal thai tradition of pampering guests, all dishes are served in bite sized portions. Thanying is also big on veg fare, with their vegetarian menu offering close to 30 dishes. Among their vegetarian delights, you can taste the Tawd Mun Kaopod (S$18++, Deep-fried sweet corn cakes, served with cucumber and sweet sauce), Keow Wahn Ma-Kua-Yaao (S$20++, Brinjal with thick green curry) and Phad Grapao Tao Hoo (S$20++, Stir-fried beancurd with hot basil leaf, chilli and green peppercorn).

Sabai
A Thai restaurant with awesome food and great views, Sabai Fine Thai on the Bay focuses on the finest ingredients. Sabai Thai offers a grand vegetarian a-la-carte menu as well as a Vegetarian Set Menu (S$70++) and Weekday Set Lunch with veg options (S$31++ for 2-course, S$35++ for 3-course). The veg menus let you choose from an ample selection of appetisers, soups, curries, stir fries, rice, noodles and desserts. The Tawd Mun Kaopote (deep-fried sweet corn cakes, S$16.5), make for a good start. For mains, try the Panang Tao Huu (deep-fried beancurd topped with panang curry), Kao Op Sapparod (fried rice with deep-fried beancurd, pineapple, carrots, curry, S$18.5) or Guay Tiew Gaprao (stir-fried spicy noodles with deep-fried bean curd, chilli, fresh peppercorns and holy basil leaves). The veg menu does seem to have an over-dose of beancurd.

Bali Thai
We’re not saying this is the best veg Thai food in town, but Bali Thai has a dedicated vegetarian menu with quite decent vegetarian options. Besides, Bali Thai has multiple locations around town, which makes it one of the more accessible Thai choices when you’re just out and about and Thai cravings set in – I have personally eaten here several times, while walking around malls.
Not just vegetarians, Bali Thai also serves Buddhist Vegetarians, with garlic and onion free options available on request. Bali Thai has a Vegetarian Bento Box (Bento Boxes starting at S$11.80) and a wide variety of vegetarian dishes on offer. Some of our favourite orders here include the vegetarian versions of the Thai Green Curry, Tom Yum soup and the Papaya Salad. My kids, who are too young to try spicy Thai cuisine, love the Thai Black Olive Rice, which is non-spicy and doesn’t have any strong flavours that might not appeal to fussy eaters. They can tone down the spicy-levels on request. I once forgot to request for medium-spicy and I couldn’t manage more than two bites of the fiery Papaya Salad.

Pepper Jade
A dream destination for Thai loving vegetarians and vegans, Pepper Jade’s wide range of vegetarian salads, starters, soups, mains, rice, noodles and desserts whip up quite an appetite. The restaurant is all-vegetarian, they don’t use garlic and onions and they have vegan dishes on the menu too.
Some of the favourites here include Thai Fish Cakes, Tom Yum Soup in Claypot, Phap Thai, Blue Butterfly Pea Truffle Fried Rice and the ever-green Green Curry. Don’t eat eggs? Try the Son-In-Law Eggs with the whites made up of mashed yam and the yolks with mashed pumpkin. The “eggs” are then deep-fried and drizzled with a tangy sauce. Creative!
