Even tho I've liked Anne for quite sometime I never really thought of her as a mother and niether I expected to discover her to be so hands on and affectionate. I mean most of the press portrays her as a coldhearted lady and even tho I generally didn't think of her as such, even I didn't picture her as a warm and present mother. I mean ofc we don't know what exactly goes on in her relationships, but its obvious that she cares very deeply for the people she loves. She always spoke so warmly about both of her parents, always being grateful for their parenting. She always looks out for them on engagements, the respect and love she has for them is evident. She is affectionate with her children and grandchildren. Like there are millions of photos of her carrying Zara and Peter around when they were little, walking hand in hand, and as they got older lots of greetings, hugs and kisses and now she seems to do the same with her grandchildren. She also clearly enjoys the company of her extended family and she is very loving with them. I mean just look at the photos of her with William and Harry. Going through your blog made me see another side of her. The stories of her letting them out on the farm, teaching them to ride and making an effort to spend time with them are so sweet and really what I find most important. In the clips she talked about how Philip made the effort to spend time with them when she was a child and how important it is, you could tell it meant a lot to her and thought the same and tried to do the same. Than ofc there are her remarks, her attitude and gaurding of her privacy which makes it easy for the press to paint a different picture. That's what I hate about the press/social media/this age, whatever it is, that we put people in to boxes, and make them 2 dimensional, as if one only can be cold hearted and rude and the other is so sweet and perfect, as if we weren't all people with flaws, and if you don't parade something around than it can't be, like everything has to fit one narrative. I mean it's known that she is very protective of her private life and rightly so, as I would be in the same position. She is not into PDA, she doesn't like to do anything for show. And that's something for which I've always respected her so much. Just as I'm sure at times she was strict with her children, told them off, gave them criticism but that doesn't mean she isn't loving. The way Peter and Zara talk about her, suggest they think she is a wonderful mum, I mean Zara put it beautifully. I found those anecdotes on your blog and nothing gives me more feels than Mama Anne. Like asking shyly if someone wanted to see baby Zara. And the video of Zara's christening gosh. When the photographer tells her to bring Peter in, it's so sweet how she looks at them and hugs them close. And when she says to Zara "could you take your splendid fist out from your splendid mouth" Jesus softie Mama Anne killed me right then and there. And really there are just so many sweet photos of her with Zara and Peter through all the years and now with the grandkids too, the ones of her playing with Mia will always be so special. What I like about following Anne is that I feel like we can admire her while also recognizing and acknowledging that she makes mistakes. I just wanted to share my discovery and saying how nuch I love your blog and how it played a part in it. You are wonderful fAnne collector.

YES! Yes to all of it! I don’t have as many words to match yours, but I completely get you and agree with you. I think when I first started this blog, I was never totally on board with her being a cold, distant person, and the more I saw that disproved that, the happier I was to see it each time. She might not be hugging strangers out on engagements, but she’s always so tactile and affectionate with her family - particularly with Peter and Zara, and now the Annelets aswell. It’s lovely to see when we do get to see it, and I think it shows where Zara gets it from too. But yeah, thank you so much for this anon, it’s really made me smile ☺️💗💗
