So I believe watermelon actually probably looks more like this to the kitty:

With the white and green parts being maybe even a bit closer to the yellow-brown colour that the flesh is, so it makes sense that it’s difficult to distinguish on sight.

Also! While we don’t know for sure why cats like melon, given that cats can’t taste sweets, there’s a theory that the amino acids in the melon make it smell like meat to them, and combined with the texture they just think it’s like a particularly juicy piece of meat.

Watermelon is okay to give to cats in small amounts btw just watch out for blood sugar spikes bc they aren’t used to eating sugars at all.

When he realized red is the good part of the watermelon.. 😅
