So I know the Snack Pack start becoming friends with Branch when they start traveling together and all but I adore the concept of that one moment where someone sees soemone they usualmy didnt like's soft side and it changes their whole perspective. For Poppy, it was right before they left, when Branch had to break down his barriers and actually admit to her the reason he wanted to go was to find his brothers and then later when he sang to her that first time. For Creek it was gradual but probably when he first began to suspect Branch had a closer connection to Brozone. What was the other members of the Pack's moments of clarity?
Satin and Chenille make a nice scarf for Branch after noticing he seems a bit cold sometimes and he actually tears up about how thoughtful the gift is. It wasn’t something they thought Branch would enjoy that much since they didn’t consider it one of their better designs (they couldn’t decide on the colour and it ended up being two different colours) but he starts wearing it a lot. It was sweet how much he seems to like it and they want to see more of that from him.
Guy Diamond wasn’t too hard to win over once operation hug Branch started because he finds Branch nice to hug
Dj Suki likes making remixes with audio from his arguments with Creek because she thinks they’re funny. She also wasn’t hard to win over since she didn’t have anything against Branch personally. She’s more Poppy’s friend then Branch’s but she still likes him.
Smidge likes how Branch keeps Poppy safe when she isn’t around and she found him surprisingly easy to talk to when she thought they had the whole same band favourite thing going on. She also hears him do a Surprisingly good impression of her “Oh my gah” to Poppy and she’s surprised because she didn’t think he payed that much attention.
Biggie appreciates how Branch makes sure to warn him and Mr. Dinkles of anything that might be dangerous. Branch seems to almost come out of nowhere sometimes with the way he’ll pop out of a bush to tell him not to touch that. It shows him how Branch really cares about the people around him.

My review to “Poppy and the Mane Mania”
I’ve decided I want to read and review the new chapter books from the Trolls films! Hope you enjoy!
Poppy and the Mane Mania
Here’s the first one! Remember, there are major spoilers in this review!
“Poppy and the Mane Mania” tells the story of Poppy and her friends preparing for a big party, and they absolutely must get Maddy to style their hair so they look perfect for the party. But when Karma goes missing, Poppy, DJ Suki, Smidge, Satin, and Chenille will have to find her and make it back so Maddy can do their hair before the party. And this is what I must say:
What a book! Loved it!
The characters were true to their personalities from the movie, and any changes made sense. Plus, we got to see Karma, a troll only mentioned through the toys and not seen in the movie. Also, we saw a new character: a living piece of dirt named Clay. A relative to Cloud Guy, maybe? Or perhaps Cloud Guy and Clay are just part of this collection of creatures who are animated inanimate objects. We also get to learn about new species of birds, bugs, and plants from the Trolls universe. Everything from the wild creatures of the forest to the unique bugs the trolls use in their everyday lives, like the stylist bugs Maddy uses in her hair salon. One of the new species of bugs are the Stingerbugs, who fiercely guard the flowers they live near. Also, they apparently can talk in the trolls’ language where other critters can’t. Interesting tidbit. There’s never a dull moment in this book. Poppy, Suki, Satin, Chenille, and Smidge go through quite a bit to find Karma: rapids, Tickle Marsh, a field of mini tornadoes, etc. The poor things.
Overall: highly recommended for true Trolls fans and kids starting to read chapter books.
Here are some specific quotes and my reactions:
Pg. 4-5: Poppy was surprised to see her friend sitting in a chair with curlers in his blue hair. “Hi, Poppy,” Branch muttered, shifting in his seat uncomfortably. She walked over to him. “So you’re going to the big party?” “Yup,” Branch said. “But I thought you didn’t like big loud parties,” Poppy said “That was before we became friends with the Bergens,” he explained. “Now I guess parties are pretty safe. As long as they’re not too loud.” Poppy reached out to touch one of the curlers in Branch’s hair. “And you’re having your hair done for the party.” Branch drew back from Poppy’s hand, a little embarrassed. “Nothing wrong with looking your best, is there?” Secretly, he wanted to look good for Poppy. “Nothing at all!” Poppy agreed, nodding. She wanted to look good for Branch. “I think it’s great that you’re getting your hair done. It’s just that I don’t think I’ve ever seen you in here before.” “Well, this is my first time,” Branch admitted. He leaned forward and whispered, “Am I doing everything right?” “You’re doing everything perfectly!” Poppy said, laughing.
First off, great seeing Branch’s growth and how his personality changed since the events of the movie. He’s edging himself into life with the trolls again, and he’s taking it one step at a time. And how cute is this scene? Branch and Poppy wanting to look good for each other?
Pg. 8: “I think you’re going to have to take off your headphones,” Maddy told DJ Suki. “WHAT?” DJ Suki said loudly. “I CAN’T HEAR YOU WITH MY HEADPHONES ON.”
This just made me laugh. Love it! And it’s perfect for someone like DJ Suki.
Pg. 14: You could hear a pin drop. In fact, Guy Diamond actually dropped a hairpin, and everyone turned to say “Shhh!” “Sorry,” Guy Diamond whispered, carefully picking up the pin and holding it gently in both hands.
I can imagine this scene like how it would play in a movie, and it’s perfect.
Pg. 17: With curlers still in his hair, Branch stood up. “I’ll go,” he said firmly.
Context: Poppy suggests a small group goes to find Karma. I just think it’s cute how brave Branch is being while curlers are in his hair.
Pg. 25: “There!” Smidge cried, pointing with her long blue hair.
Whoa. That’s some legit hair manipulation.
Pg. 32-33: “Good ol’ mushrooms,” DJ Sui said, giving the trunk of a purple mushroom with sparkly gold stripes a friendly pat. SCREEECH! The Trolls covered their ears. What was that? The enormous mushroom reared back and gave another cry. The sound was echoed by the other mushrooms, and soon the air was filled with their deafening screeches! “WHAT KIND OF MUSHROOMS ARE THESE?” Satin shouted into Poppy’s ear. “I THINK THEY MUST BE SCREECHING MUSHROOMS!” Poppy yelled back. “I’VE NEVER HEARD OF SCREECHING MUSHROOMS!” Chenille called. “I NEVER WANT TO HEAR OF THEM AGAIN!” DJ Suki screamed.
Screeching……. mushrooms? Okay……. that’s a little scary…….
Pg. 47: “Stay together!” Poppy called to Smidge and DJ Suki. “We’ve got to stay together!” “But how?” Satin asked. “We forgot to put brakes on our boats!”
So, context: the girls got directions from Clay to ride the river to where they might find Karma. This moment makes me wonder what might’ve happened if Branch had gone with them. Surely the survivalist would think of all the things they didn’t. It’s interesting to see how they cope with the problems they encounter on their little adventure.
Pg. 84: The tornados had whipped their hair into crazy knots and snarls. “At least the knots will hold in the twigs and the grease,” Chenille said. “How is that good?” her twin sister asked. “Just trying to be positive,” Chenille said, shrugging.
That made me laugh, too.
Pg. 112: “Perhaps this will help,” Poppy said, stepping forward and handing the queen a scrapbook she’d put together in the time it took the twins to fix the cape. “Luckily, I never go anywhere without my scrapbooking materials.”
Okay, Poppy has some legit scrapbooking skills!
That’s it for this one! I’m going to do “Branch and the Cooking Catastrophe” next!
