Cozytober - Day 10 - Cornucopia

Today I finished this drawing and honestly, I love it so much! makes sense since I drew most of this with my left (main) hand (used right hand for a good chunk of the sketch to help maintain being somewhat ambidextrous) and, got to use an art medium I haven't used in almost a year, after buying some cheap alcohol markers (cheaper than sharpie's cheap) a few weeks ago.

(rest of post has minor spoilers for AA2-5, mostly AA4-5 but I do mention very minor spoilers for AA2-3)

I've been wanting to draw Pearl for a while, especially after seeing her in the DD DLC case (which is my fave case from DD) but than on the 18th I read this fanfic by Samioli and, it was so cute! It made me want to draw Pearl even more! To clarify this isn't fanart of the fic (idk if I ship Pearl and Trucy but I do see them as childhood bffs) but, I do hc Pearly as lesbian thanks to the fic and, I still wanted to recommend it cuz it's such an amazing fic and, it motivated me to draw Pearly hanging out with Trucy.

okay now back to talking about the drawing XD. I decided to re-design both girl's hair-do's and I'm very glad I did. I like Trucy's canon hair but as mentioned in this post I originally thought her official sprite had a bob, and now that I drew her with a bob I think I might continue doing so! Also I don't think she has an ahoge in canon but, I think it suits her so I will always give her one :3 (Edit, turns out she does have an ahoge and it's even cuter that the one I gave her so in future I will draw her with her canon ahoge)

As for Pearl, I dislike that her model in DD basically is just a taller version of her child sprites in AA2-3, so after making some thumbnails on a different page of hair-do ideas, I decided on a hairstyle that's similar to her canon hair-do but, more interesting imo, especially since I made the braids heart shaped on purpose cuz it references her love of romance (very on the nose, but being on the nose is kinda on brand for AA).

I also had a lot of fun designing these outfits for them both! Trucy's bag is of course a playing card and I picked 8 of diamonds cuz she has a diamond motif in canon and, was adopted by Phoenix when she was 8! Her jeans also have a two patches, one of her first daddy's hat/her hat when she was a child and a bunny, cuz that's magic related and cute lol. Also gave her a bracelet that kinda references Apollo but kinda doesn't, because it's on the wrong arm (didn't want it to crowd the hand holding pose!) and it's sliver because I didn't want to add yellow to the colour pallet :P

Pearl's outfit was loosely inspired by fairy-kei fashion as I feel like Pearl would enjoy Fairy-kei and Yumekawaii but not strictly follow a jfashion style. I also gave Pearl glasses. Not only make her look more unique compared to her canon child design but also, cuz AA doesn't have enough characters with glasses imo and I think they look super cute on her! I did consider giving her heart lenses but, I think that might be over doing the heart motif so I made them round instead :P

♡ April May ♡

Oh boy it's been a hot minute since I was last on this site, long story short I've been super busy with real life stuff and, while I've now gotten more time to draw than last week, I may become less active over the next few months :P

Anyways time to talk about the drawing! Yesterday I felt like drawing April May, why? Because not only did I feel like drawing something super cute and pink but, also I actually do enjoy April May's character quite a bit! It was a lot of fun to draw her and design a cute outfit loosely inspired by her canon outfit! I also gave her a fuller figure because she kinda has one in official art though that's probably mostly due to trilogy art style drawing often drawing aa characters (especially men) thicker, but I like drawing all kinds of body types so I decided I'd draw her chubby/mid sized anyways :P

now to talk more about her character >:-). A lot of people seem to think of her a lesser version of Ini Miney or even Dahlia Hawthorne but personally, I feel like all three of these women are quite different from each other, sure there are many traits that are same but that's the case for well, any one if you compare them to someone else, let alone characters in the same fictional franchise :P

So why do I like her? Well the main one is that to me she's to me a women who is unlikable but, you can't help but feel sorry for. I feel this way because while yes she did help Redd White blackmail many and kill Mia, and she does have a rude, harsh and literally catty personality but, she's was also stuck in a bad and potentially dangerous situation. A lot of people seem to forget that Redd White is a powerful and dangerous man, who had enough power to blackmail people with a lot of power and influence. also in one of her dialogue options she does outright mention being scared of him, because he knows how to shut people up. Personally wouldn't be surprised if Mia wasn't his first murder but that's a hc based off that line of dialogue.

speaking of hc's I do have a few for April May! (these do have minor spoilers for AA3, AAI1/2)

She's from Zheng Fa, now I haven't finished AAI2 yet (on case 4 atm) so idk if case 4 and 5 will effect this hc or not, but I noticed both Shi-Long and Di-Jun kinda act and look animal like in a similar way to April, of course her name doesn't really fit with Zheng Fa names but given she has a fake cutesy personality the name could also be fake (or she legally changed it to April May either after moving to America or after she started working at Blue Corp)

She met Dahlia in prison, I feel like she would've been sent to prison for a while due to being an accomplice in many of Redd White's crimes and since Morgan was able to meet Dahlia any other prisoner could as well, including April. I mostly have this hc cuz I feel like these two would at first bound over hating lawyers and how easy it is to fool people with a cutesy act, but than stop bonding when April learns a bit more about Dahlia.

Before working at Blue Corp she wanted to be a model and even dating a bit during that time, but neither worked out. One of her bf's just so happened to be Larry Butz (did I only come up with this hc because I learnt April and Larry are same age? maybe XD)

because she's a one off character in my mind she got her life together after serving her jail sentence. Maybe she got into a completely different job like running a bakery or something, idk lol

For Fanart Friday, I decided to do @tuulikannel's request! (I mean, this is a surprise and she didn't request it from me, but oh well.) Surprisingly, I got the art done on Tuesday instead of at midnight at the last second. Based on this post. I haven't played Danganronpa 2 yet, but I'm looking forward to it! Just gotta finish one of my fanfics first...

I really enjoyed doing these and having the colors picked out for me actually made it a lot easier (because I always have trouble with colors 😅). And the backgrounds were fun. I was totally inspired by @o0o0thorn0o0o and their drawing/posting speed. I'm not sure I want to officially pick up the challenge, but hopefully I can continue with my other drawing ventures now. ^^

Their senses of humor are pretty similar, probably because they... developed similarly. It’s gotten darker with recent years, they make a lot of rather dark jokes to one another.

But in general, they can be goofy with one another. They probably speak often in memes.

3. If they complimented each other, what would they say?

OJ would probably abstain from this question--Maddy prefers less vocal compliments, anyway. 

Maddy: “He’s always right, even when I don’t want him to be.”

4. What would be their ship name?

Ojaddy was the officially decided one, it was MOJ in my earliest notes.

7. Write a ~300 word love scene for them.

8. What were their first impressions of each other?

Who knows at this point? They don’t know where their memories of each other begin.

17. What senses (sights, smells, feelings, etc). remind them of each other?

The smells of Brindleton Bay in general--especially around the dock/their houses growing up, so the sea, salt air, sand between toes. A bit of beach bonfire for Maddy specifically--OJ associates Maddy with fire for the obvious reason that she is wild.

Additionally, OJ sort of begins to associate the creaking of floorboards with Maddy returning home.

18. What would be their love motto?

Physically: palm kisses. They say a lot with the palm kisses, it’s just their personal way of de-escalating a situation while still saying “I love you, endlessly.”

Other than that, I guess... There’s the line in Dress by Taylor Swift--”I don’t want you like a best friend.” That. They want each other more than like best friends. She really only bought that dress so he could take it off one day.

19. If they could each write a single line in their marriage vows, what would they be?

I will always return to your side. (OJ: like a boomerang. Maddy: yes exactly)

20. What is a promise they have made to each other?

Besides the one mentioned earlier? They’ve promised to remain in PB Bay, to be close to Kabi of course.

21. How have they changed each other for the better/for the worse?

Well they hunted vampires together for a bit, so that’s pretty cool.

OJ makes Maddy think more about the world around her. Maddy makes OJ braver.

22. If their lives were what was originally intended at birth, would they have still fallen in love?

Oh... Probably, yes. I think they were always going to be each other’s first loves. 

If Maddy had gone the vampire path, she probably would have tried to take OJ with her, tbh................................ A much scarier end of gen 3, tbh.

23. Write a ~300 scene between them with no dialogue, only body language.

24. What is something they have each had to forgive the other for?

Maddy puts herself in constant danger. OJ has to be the “bad guy” and bring her back to earth. They forgive each other for these facts every day.

Fangplay for OJ. The second teeth touch skin he’s done..... Maddy is almost always willing to go, though. OJ could just like, walk by her and say, “Hey beautiful,” and she would grab for his junk. When we did the Shipping thing, I filled in her horny levels at MAXIMUM and I stand by that.

26. What are their favorite parts about physical affection/sex?

Is all of it a cop out? They are both CONSTANTLY physical with one another. I think it’s about the reality of it--they spent a long time believing it wasn’t happening, and then it couldn’t happen, and then it shouldn’t happen... That when it did happen, they learned how to revel in it. It’s their own private thing. It’s just theirs.

27. Do they have any kinks/fetishes that they share?

The aforementioned fangplay (which he gets in on sometimes! He bites back when she wants!). Maddy is the dominant one--OJ prefers to submit to her whims ahaha.

Cool great, so actually, when I was writing.... I’m gonna talk about it real quick because I feel like I have to. And honestly, looking at what I have here, I could probably take nonsense out of this ... thing ... for the love scene and the “scene with just body language” because that’s legitimately all this thing is and uGH OKAY HERE WE GO BYE.

So I felt like writing-writing, and I decided to write OJ and Maddy getting together (which there are pictures for), because I wanted to. And AS I wrote it, Madeleine Moon escalated at every turn, so what we got was actually... Her fulfilling her teenage fantasy because she’s mad with power, and it’s of course also OJ’s teenage fantasy because holy shit he has Maddy in his bedroom so. 

I’m EMBARASSED but here is an excerpt from my embarassing secret Ojaddy smut document:

“You really don’t have to, not if you don’t want,” he mumbles, a hand on her bare waist. She laughs and kisses the top of his head.

“But I do want to,” she whispers back, reaching and pulling his shirt over his head. She looks away from him to survey his body, before returning her gaze to his. “Don’t you want me?”

“Yes but—”

“No, no buts but this one.” She moves his hand to her ass, and squeezes for him.

OJ sighs, frustrated. “But this is my—I mean—I always thought—”

“I always thought it’d be in my room,” she confides, stripping her crop top off. Her bra is lacy and black. It’d look great on the floor. “That one day you’d be brave enough to just... Come in and say something stupid, but romantic. And maybe I just wouldn’t be able to stop myself.” 

“H-how?”

“Well, I’d sit just like this,” she says, straddling him. One arm is around his neck. “And I’d begin kissing you, starting... mmm... here.” She leans forward, and he moves to meet her lips, but she kisses the blade of his shoulder, then a trail of fire up his neck. “And... maybe my hand would end up here.” It’s on his chest, moving up and down. He isn’t imagining that she’s admiring him. Her mouth has reached higher now, she’s nibbling on his earlobe. “Maybe you’re brave and touch me back,” she whispers, and he can’t help shivering. His hand is still on her waist, but he’s gripping her tightly, fingernails drawing circles on her back. He wonders if it’ll leave a mark, if she’d like that. Her hand is now hovering, fingertips just ghosting over the front of his shorts. “And maybe I’m especially brave.” She unzips them, slides down to her knees in front of him and her hand reaches and it’s so much, all of this. He groans out her name, every name—Mads, Maddy, Madeleine, like it’s a prayer.

tldr - their real life is a fantasy, Maddy’s fantasy was getting in OJ’s pants, OJ’s fantasy was letting her, now they get to explore fantasies with each other! a true happy ending for everyone

OJ’s is kissing Maddy all over. Literally. All over, until she goes feral. So. Edging.

Maddy’s is, of course, biting. Biting and seeing how fast she can get OJ in the mood. This is especially fun when he is supposed to be doing anything else.

My very first redraw from my very first edit posted here, so it deserves an honorable mention. Back then I was young and inexperienced, I didn't even apply a gray filter (lmao I was so unskilled I even unintentionally scratched the picture, I hadn't realized until today). I'm actually very happy my first redraw was of Don, boy deserves all the love.

#2: Emma and Ray - Chapter 140: I’m Here!

Back then this looked like so much work to me!!! And to this day, I think it turned out pretty well. I'm particularly proud of how the bow turned out. This is one I was really proud of right after having finished it; it gave me the confidence to try redrawing bigger areas. Also, the edit were I first applied the opacity of layer / opacity of brush for the gray filter that would have stuck with me.

I don't know I just really like how Krone's hair vanish to a more sketch-like style here– and consequently, how I managed to replicate such effect. I think Krone's beautiful.

#4: Emma, Norman and Ray - Chapter 153: Coward

Probably the single panel redraw I'm the most proud of. That Norman panel was beautiful and very poignant at the end of a chapter I adored, so I believe it deserved all the time I've spent working on it. It's far from being perfect - the back of his head is too plain, and the difference between my brushes and the original brushes is pretty visible - but I still like it very much and am extremely attached to it. The horn looks kinda big but I honestly believe it to be more of an issue with the original than with what I had redrawn lol. Funny enough, the whole picture didn't make it to the final edit and had to be trimmed.

Thank you @neverlandstrio for your support, you may not remember but it really meant a lot to me back then! And it still makes me smile. You're the best!!!!!!

#2: Mujika and Queen Legravalima - Chapter 158: The Reason I Was Born

This whole edit was an hella wild ride. It's midnight before a school day, when I think: "Mh, it's been a while since I last made an edit, why not make one about Musica and the queen from the last chapter?" And seven hours after this was born. I'm particularly proud of the queen's redraws on the 3rd, 7th and 9th picture (ofc), the areas which have been redrawn are pretty huge yet I think the difference with the original is almost impossible to notice?? @Redrawing skills where did you go please come back (part 2)

#3: Emma - Chapter 174: A New World (part 1)

I think the panels that were selected work very well together, especially considering the close-up / full body alternation. I love Emma, and I've always been kinda sad noticing that edits that focus one her take the less notes... She deserves all the love. Also, fun fact: for the last but one panel, I had redrawn Emma's whole left ear before remembering she doesn't have one, so I had to redraw the panel from the start. Besides from the error with the ear, the reason why this (and all the others after) took so long is because official panel take way longer to clean.

#4: Isabella and her children - Chapter 177: Mother

Lmao tbh I can't understand how this has so few notes it's like. Technically speaking, probably the best edit I've ever done. I don't even like Isabella that much, I haven't got the slightlest idea why I decided to spend so many hours on this. Anyway, I find the composition (full body on the left / headshots on the right) really good looking in this as well! And I think the redraws turned out fine, especially Isabella's.

#5: The Promised Neverland manga ending countdown→ 1/7 chapters: chapter 1 - Grace Field House

I was so glad to finally be able to make a Norman / Ray edit, and it turned out it was just in time before the series' finale. I like how it turned out and I'm pretty satisfied with the redraws (even though my sister helped me with the lineart of some panels - it was exams time and I really couldn't afford to spend more time on it), too bad we didn't have more chapters that focused on the boys. Ray sweetie one day I'll fix your ear it's just today's not that day.

Btw, I justed realized I have never done an Emma / Norman centered edit? I'll have to make one eventually. I remember considering focusing on them alone for the chapter 154 one, but then I thought "even if the manga is gonna ignore Ray, I will chose to do not" lol.

Two headcanons you have for your muse?

She...actually has constant dreams of these strange looking creatures looking down at her and her home. Anytime she tries to leave, she can’t because there seems to be some sort of invisible wall preventing her from doing so. She wakes up in sweat because she’s screaming at everyone about what’s happening but no one believes her!

She gets cold super easily because she was spoiled by the canyons she grew up in that were constantly warm! She’ll usually have a jacket with her unless it’s straight up summer in the Commonwealth and will complain the entire time until the coldness is gone.

Three things your character likes doing in their free time:

Drawing/sculpting/tattooing! Loralei is a creative soul and looks for creative outlets. She has a sketch book filled with things from strangers to crushes and...some inner thoughts she’d rather keep personal. She’s also taken up sculpting small tiny statues from the trash/junk she finds throughout the wastes, it’s usually kept together with gum and is usually a horse. Then there’s tattooing! That’s right, she also tattoos. The intricate tattoos that she has, she didn’t do herself, she knows a guy at Bunker Hill who has a whole ass machine and found out a way to make colored ink. He’s her go to. Loralei doesn’t have a machine...yet, she does poke tattoos! Usually will only do small ones because she doesn’t have time for huge ones.

Listening to music/singing/dancing along with it. Loralei...also likes to sing. It’s a hidden passion that she keeps under wraps in fear of ridicule. Only those close to her will hear her small whispers of a song or if she gets swept up in a feeling. Often she’s singing ‘Begin Again’, the likes the melancholy tune and will often hum it while drawing as well. Dancing is much rarer to come by. This girl has great control of her hips. Dancing is such a popular element back at home, it's how they tell stories.

Fun fact...she likes to climb things. I guess parkouring is the word? Loralei has long legs and she has high ass agility too, maxed out. So often, she’ll want to find a quiet spot in the inner cities of the Commonwealth to just...think to herself. So often, she’s scaling buildings in hopes of a finding a good spot and...has anyone noticed the crows around here? Loralei has...they’re...strange. She doesn’t see life behind the eyes of, not like the other birds...she’s just being paranoid. Been around Tinker Tom for too long is all.

Deacon - Yes, believe or not...she loves this fool like her own brother...er...if she were close to her brother. They’ve had heart to hearts and she knows things of him that he hasn’t told anybody...and in turn he knows things about her that she hasn’t told anybody. They’re often partnered together because Loralei is able to reel Deacon back in when things gets a bit out of hand. She’ll be the first to tell him when an idea is garbage and yes...she did rip that dumb fake earring out of his ear. No, we’re not going into a raider base pretending that we’re “piercers giving out free cool piercings!”. That’s dumb! That’s stupid! And these raiders don’t deserve to be pierced by anything but a bullet! Plus Deacon helps her bleach her hair.

Glory - aka, Loralei's ’ huge crush. Loralei does develop crushes on women easily, just...be soft with her and you’ve caught her. Only difference between Loralei getting a crush on you...and Loralei wanting to date you is...well you have to be able to deal with Loralei at her worst. At her worst, she can be a challenge. She can be mean and snappy. She’ll out right refuse any help and would rather mope and suffer then anything. So she needs someone who knows how to give tough love while avoiding to step in a certain territory of abuse. Glory knows exactly what type and how much of tough love to give. When Loralei first started bumming around the railroad, after the second week was up, Glory was the first one to tell Loralei to get off of her ass. Gave Loralei this new motto of "Replace the bad memories, with new good ones.". It's why Loralei has fallen deep for her. Glory also helps Loralei shave the side of her head which is often since Loralei's hair grows so fast.

Old Blue - Loralei's soul, the reason she made it past 12. Old Blue is Loralei's big ass horse, he sadly is still currently back home. He's an old man of 23 and has been with Loralei since she was born. They share the same birthday and everything. He's a giant but an absolute sweetie unless you hurt Loralei then he's gonna try and kick you then stomp on you. He saved Loralei from a yao guai attack when she was younger and decided to hunt for the first time by herself. Plan for Loralei is to get a huge plot of land, build a farm there and live out the rest of her life raising horses and radstags. Loralei has a tattoo of him on her right leg.

Desdemona - Des was the one who even allowed Loralei to stay with the Railroad after her ex left her heartbroken. She felt bad enough for her and didn't even make her join. Was surprised when Loralei asked to be an official member. Figured that having a cruel ex who was a synth would be enough for that hate to start. Most people haven't met a synth and hate them. Then she notices the soft looks Loralei gives Glory and...well, that all makes sense doesn't it. Des will often get on Loralei's ass when she's having a particular bad attitude that day.

Tinker Tom - Tom is like an annoying little brother. His talk of aliens is grating to her sometimes, she just wanted to talk about her weird dreams without the "are you sure you aren't alien made? I mean, the fast healing, the blue blood-" but...she loves him like a little brother. She likes listening about his tinkering and is actually drawing her up something in hopes a making a tattoo machine. Safe to say that she does find him charming and someone she cares dearly about.

Freya (her mom) - most of Loralei's childhood is being ignored. She's always been labeled as someone who'll bring you down with her and for the fact that one of her eyes is blue instead of green...was said to bring bad omens. Was almost killed as a newborn but her father refused to ever let such a thing happen. Freya is the only person in the tribe that has the same mental issues as Loralei...but Freya would get caught up in keeping the tribe together and they just...never really talked. Loralei is like that with all her immediate family.

Lulu (older brother) - Lulu and Loralei get along better then the rest of their family. They're still kind of awkward and aren't sure how to show each other affection but when Lulu comes around for a quick visit then they'll often share a smoke together and just...talk about their lives together. One of them is supposed to take over the chieftain role when their parents no longer can but...neither one of them want to.

A phobia your muse has: 

Would it be weird to say meeting the beings in her dreams? She has so many dreams of just beings watching over her tribe. Seeing them as toys...or pawns or...pets. Loralei isn't sure. Just...she doesn't want to meet them. Ever. She feels like she isn't even supposed to know that they're there.

My general thoughts & opinions on them - I heard she got a lot more attention in the fairy world that I never played so I do wish she got more love and plot importance in the first 3 books (though it has been years so maybe I forgot some of it) I like that she draws the meet the heroes art bc its SO funny that she canonically loves to draw tragedies and also whitewashes people all the time.

My general thoughts & opinions on them - He's pretty cool, very likable. He's not a favorite of mine or anything (need to... play blue lions.......) but he's just a little guy. The adopted dad connection to nobility is cool and I think if I actually did a deep dive into his character I'd come out liking him quite a bit

My general thoughts & opinions on them - I don't really like silent protagonists I'm sorry 😭 Maybe if I finished all of the routes? I understand Byleth is kind of like. It's a bit of a meta thing where the fact they're a silent protag is because of the crest stone thing and stunted emotions and stuff? I just find it very hard to get attached. Or maybe 3 Hopes will change my mind on Byleth idk
