The non mlp fan from before, I managed to already watch the movie, and I would def appreciate a must watch list, but I realised how deep the prohibitedwish brain rot goes when my brain compared tempest and capper as you can probably guess who lol. I split the list into two parts: absolute essentials and nonessential episodes that I strongly recommend. They are fairly long! But that's mostly because MLP is kind of a long show. Feel free to skip around all you want, this is mostly just to get you started. The word "essential" is being used very liberally here lol.

ABSOLUTE ESSENTIALS

Most of these episodes are two-parters, and that's because most of the important events and lore take place in these special episodes.

Friendship is Magic Parts 1 and 2 (S1E1-2)

You absolutely cannot skip the first two episodes of the series. Not only do you learn how the Mane 6 meet, but you are also introduced to one of the best characters in the series (Luna). If you watch no other episodes, at least watch these two.

The Return of Harmony Parts 1 and 2 (S2E1-2)

DISCORD I'M HOWLING AT THE MOON! This is Discord's first appearance and is an extremely important set of episodes lore-wise.

A Canterlot Wedding Parts 1 and 2 (S2E25-26)

These episodes are absolutely iconic in the best way possible. Not only do they have one of the best MLP songs ever concocted, but we are also introduced to one of the best and most important major villains, Queen Chrysalis.

The Crystal Empire Parts 1 and 2 (S3E1-2)

Crystal Empire lore. Here we are first introduced to King Sombra (a canonical bicon!) who is a major villain.

Magical Mystery Cure (S3E13)

Arguably the turning point of the entire series. Things start to get a little crazier from here on. I won't spoil it.

Princess Twilight Parts 1 and 2 (S4E1-2)

Don't really have much to say about these episodes (its been years since I've seen them) but I remember them being important.

Twilight's Kingdom Parts 1 and 2 (S4E25-26)

There's some cool lore stuff here, but honestly Tirek is probably MLP's least interesting villain. That's just my opinion, though, some people may disagree. Definitely still recommend giving these eps a watch tho.

The Cutie Map Parts 1 and 2 (S5E1-2)

These episodes are really just amazing. Hands down. The premise is great and, love her or hate her, Starlight Glimmer's debut is fantastic. She's in my top 5 for a reason.

The Cutie Re-Mark Parts 1 and 2 (S5E25-26)

Who doesn't love a good time-travel shenanigans episode? Not only that, but we get to see some swanky butterfly-effect style alternate universes. All around a great set of episodes, even if they did give Starlight a goofy ass backstory.

The Crystalling Parts 1 and 2 (S6E1-2)

I'm only including this in the list because its a special two-part episode, but you could probably honestly skip it, unless you've become invested in Starlight as a character (bc there's important Starlight character development ig). Lore-wise, this special is a little weak and kinda boring.

To Where and Back Again Parts 1 and 2 (S6E25-26)

A special about Starlight Glimmer and ALSO about changelings! Two of my favorite things! Sign me up! Genuinely, tho, this special is one of the best and you HAVE to watch it if you're at all interested in changeling lore.

Shadow Play Parts 1 and 2 (S7E25-26)

These episodes are really interesting. Very heavy with lore, too. You wouldn't expect this kind of premise in a show like My Little Pony, that's all I'll say.

School Daze Parts 1 and 2 (S8E1-2)

Beginning of the MLP school era. I actually really enjoy the school episodes, but some people are mixed on it.

The Mean 6 (S8E13)

I had to include this episode because its just so damn iconic.

The Sounds of Silence (S8E23)

I also had to include this one. It is absolutely inconsequential lore-wise, but this is the only kirin episode and genuinely probably one of the best episodes in the series.

Honestly, you could send me an ask for a writing ask game from three years ago and I would still very happily answer it!

9. Do you believe in ghosts?

That is the question to ask the whole DP fandom, isn't it lol. So I myself have never seen/felt anything supernatural, but my mom and sisters have seen/felt/heard ghosts, and their stories are too bizarre for me to just discount. I also know that they aren't liars, so I can only say that I don't know if I believe in ghosts, but I'd like to believe that they're real? I'd like to believe that there's some proof of something beyond death in our world.

I've also had a bizarre Disney movie moment where a psychic told me that the reason I'm blocked from using my clairvoyant gifts (because I've been told by several people that I have a clairvoyant aura...somehow) is because my great great grandmother (my mom's dad's mom's mom) has a hold on me due to some generational trauma and we have only one picture of this woman and she looks exactly like me lol.

So ghosts...maybe?

26. How do you get into your character’s head? How do you get out? Do you ever regret going in there in the first place?

There isn't a particular technique I do to get into a character's head. I am pretty naturally empathic, like I am able to discern how people are feeling or what they are thinking and I can often feel it in my own being. I'm also able to understand why people do the things they do, which is why I don't get too angry or impatient with people very often. I am also pretty good at talking people through their feelings or actions and helping them see other people or events in their lives from a new perspective.

My mom keeps saying I should be a therapist lol. But I think the closest I'll get to that is writing Ghost on the Couch.

Anyway, this seems to apply to fictional characters as well. I feel that I'm able to just connect with them easily and understand not only what they do but why they do it.

And I never regret it. :) I appreciate how fiction can help me gain a new understanding of the people around me.

32. What is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic etc that you return to from time and time again? How did you find it? What does it mean to you?

One line that just kind of stuck in my head ever since I read it was from Mark Z. Danielewski's House of Leaves. The plot of the novel is hard to explain succinctly, it's basically a horror metafiction about a house that has a big maze on the inside. It's not an easy read, the text starts going crazy in all directions because I think it's supposed to simulate the feeling of being in a labyrinth? I've only ever read it once and I don't actually want to read it ever again lol.

To give you an idea of why this book is difficult and frankly exhausting to read, here's a screenshot of the page with the line that I still think about:

I don't even remember what is going on at this point in the book but I remember the line "Picture that. In your dreams." Because there is just something so haunting about that line, something about how it's broken up by a period, not a comma, a full stop. That feeling of unease but also something so surreal, like twilight, the space between the administration of anesthesia and falling into dark unconsciousness.

It's just exactly the kind of atmosphere I try to create in my fics.

An estimate of how many physical books I own: By my guess, 150. I have some fiction but most of them are either field guides, poultry books or just old American Poultry Association and old American Bantam Association Yearbooks. And I have a few bibles and devotionals and stuff.

Favourite author: Tolkien! My favorite standalone book is The Hobbit and my favorite trilogy is LOTR (yes I am counting it as a trilogy because then I don't have to pick between them.) I never enjoyed the Silmarillon I'm afraid, there are no hobbits. I only read half of it. And equally, Cressida Cowell which is why I have a second HTTYD blog called common-or-garden-blog. The How To Train Your Dragon books are definitely my favorite series. I never got into the Wizards of Once. I'm sure the characters were great but I was already invested in the HTTYD trio so it was weird when I saw two characters that looked just like Hiccup and Camicazi but with their personalities swapped and the cognitive dissonance was just too much for me to get invested. I think I just struggle to not compare new media with the old.

A popular book I've never read and never intend to read: Twilight. *shrugs*

A popular book I thought was just meh: "Eragon." I read the whole 1st book of the series and more of the second and I still don't know why my uncle recommended it to me. I just thought it was bad writing.

Longest book I own: The Holy Bible. I am a proud Christian. It did take me a year but I have read all of it (okay I will be honest I did skim a lot of Leviticus though.)

Longest series I own all the books to: How To Train Your Dragon. Actually, that's the only series I own all the books to.

Prettiest book I own: I had a beautiful light blue leatherbound Bible with a flower on it but it got so worn out it can hardly be called the prettiest. Okay maybe it still can. The prettiest book I don't own is the anniversary edition The Hobbit that I got for my brother just so I could gaze at Tolkien's drawings.

A book or series I wish more people knew about: Apart from HTTYD which is something totally different from the movies and very underappreciated, I wish more people knew about The Great Turkey Walk by Kathlene Karr. It is an antebellum era historical fiction story with some characters you will love and root for disguised as a brisk, rollicking cattle turkey drive. I actually made fan art for it once and was super disappointed that there was literally no content for it on Tumblr at all like not even a mention. I'd say I'm biased because turkeys are my fav animal but 1. when I found out it existed I checked it out because it had turkeys only to discover it was a book that I had enjoyed in elementary school, I just totally forgot the turkeys were in it (even though they drove the plot.) I only remembered the other parts of the plot! 2. I gave it to my history teacher while we studied the antebellum in APUSH and she loved it.

Book I'm reading now: I've been trying to read Wheel of Time because a friend gave it to me. But it is chapter 11 or 12. At that point in The Fellowship we would be past Rivendale. In book 1 of this series (I don't even remember what it is called) we are traveling and have had 1 (one) event of interest happen so far. Also, I only tolerate the characters. Also this book is one of the biggest I've ever read and there are 12 more in the series. If I am ever to leave the stagnation and start reading again I need to give up.

Book that's been on my TBR list for a while but I still haven't got around to it: *looks at goodreads* ew those are the books I was interested in reading? No wonder I haven't read any they all look like they suck (except Catcher in the Rye, I actually read it and it was a real banger.) I guess Dealing With Dragons is a book on there that actually still looks appealing.

I've written a book short story in English and then translated and illustrated it into Spanish in a tiny sketchbook (and left the rest of the pages blank) does that count? Paperback, hardcover, or ebook? Hardback and softcover. I prefer hardcover since the ones that are softcover are looking a little worse for the wear. BUT to combat my worn out LOTR I bought a single edition hardcover because it was cheaper than 3 separate books but it turns out it is really hard and intimidating to read because it is so big and heavy so that was a fail.

Spoilers for the new live action Ahsoka show!!

Did ya’ll hear about that theory going around about Ahsoka going to the world between worlds (from Rebels—when Ezra saved Ahsoka) and she sees an alternate timeline of Anakin on Mustafar and she’s the one to fight him instead of Obi?!? How are we feeling about that? I have mixed feelings (mostly cuz I don’t want them to retcon RotS).

RotS is top tier prequel SW imo and that entire Mustafar scene is just legendary at this point I feel like. If this theory/rumor turns out to be true, I would love it if they kept Obi’s dialog for Ahsoka because it would work for both of them. The whole ‘you were the Chosen One’/‘you were my brother Anakin—I loved you!’ Coming from Ahsoka would hurt so much (in S7 of CW Ahsoka tells Trace and Raffa that she learned her skills from her ‘older brother’).

If the whole ‘alternate timeline’ thing is true, I wonder how the fight scene would go. In RotS, when Obi says he has the high ground, Anakin attacks, using Obi’s move against him, but Obi knows how to counter and slices his legs and arm off. If Ahsoka and Anakin fight, I’d love for Anakin to use that jumping/spinning move he taught her to survive O66 and that’s how she’s able to defeat him. That’s her move, just like Anakin used Obi’s move.

It’s pretty much canon at this point that the reason Obi and Ahsoka have not seen each other post O66 is that Anakin/Vader would not live if they did meet up. Obi-wan is more powerful than Vader, but is unable to kill him because Obi still sees him as Anakin/his bro (until ANH). That’s why he didn’t kill Vader in his own show. He couldn’t do it.

Now Ahsoka, from what we’ve seen (ignoring Legends/EU), doesn’t know Anakin=Vader, and hates Vader (not realizing he’s Anakin until Rebels during their meetup during the Twilight Apprentice arc). In order to save Ezra/Kanan/Chopper, Ahsoka fights Vader (after saying she won’t leave him again, not this time) and despite being able to hold him off, she isn’t strong enough to defeat him. She’s kind of the opposite of Obiwan. She can kill him, it’s just that she isn’t strong enough to fight Vader (yet?).

Overall I’m very much looking forward to this show. I love the idea of Ahsoka/Sabine/Hera/Chop/Zeb going after Ezra and Thrawn. This is probably a controversial opinion, but as much as I LOVE Thrawn, I felt like he was done dirty in Rebels. He definitely had that sort of menacing presence in all of his scenes, but I don’t really remember him doing anything to the Ghost Crew that had lasting consequences (aside from that finale). Honestly, after hearing so much hype about him before I watched Rebels, I thought he’d be more dangerous (but I understand Rebels is more kid-oriented than CW).

I heard that more than one actress will be playing the role of Ahsoka (not just Rosario Dawson) and Hayden Christiansen will return as Anakin/Vader, which explains the whole ‘alternate timeline’ theory. I’m not sure how long Togrutas live (Ahsoka’s species) but it would be interesting if we get old lady Ahsoka during the sequel movie-era. Like what if she still talks w/ Luke/Leia? Luke would ask what to do about Rey and Leia would be complaining about Poe and Ahsoka would just give them advice?? Idk. I’d like her to become a sort of ‘Uncle Iroh’ character as she ages.

The whole premise of the show is about Ahsoka going off to find Ezra and Thrawn in an area called ‘New Space’ or something. It’s like an uncharted area of space or something—idk exactly so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Aside from the Ezra/Thrawn plot and the ‘alternate timeline’ theory, I’m not too sure what I’d like to see from this show aside from seeing more clones in live action. Gimme Rex in his blue 501st armor, staring to grow that gray/white beard he has in Rebels. Post-Rebels, I’d like to see more Luke/Leia/Aunt Ahsoka content. My HC is that Ahsoka calls Leia ‘Snips’ and Luke is ‘Skyguy’. I’ll die on that hill lol.

So yeah, I’m definitely going into Ahsoka (Live Action) with high hopes that it’ll be good, but I’m not expecting too much outside of what’s already been teased/announced. What’s everyone thinking for Ahsoka? Looking forward to it or not? I’d love to hear your thoughts/theories ❤️

Fanfic Update—Those of you waiting for Chapter 5 of my Bad Batch fanfic Older Sister, don’t worry I’m almost done and am planning on posting after Xmas (I’m an artist so I’m working on lots of gifts atm and won’t have time to post here). I’m also working on a few short pieces about the clones (kinda like journal entries or something). For non-SW fics, I also have a few Arcane ‘fix-it’ scenes I’m writing as well as a full Arcane AU fanfic so look out for those as well as a Reader/Self-Insert Arcane fic that I’m not sure if I like lol. I love old fandoms and fandom ships too because of the nostalgia and comfort you get from when you rewatch everything.

As I grew older, I understand that Spike was more dedicated to Buffy and it for real seems like the actors had more chemistry than Buffy had with Angel but that's just me.

Honestly, pls no one give me hate for this but my comfort couple and fandom is Edward and Bella from The Twilight Saga.

Became a fan at 10 and I'm now 26 and still love the books, the movies and I have a Twilight tattoo and I'm still a simp for Edward Cullen.

Yeah the relationship is toxic af and unhealthy and it was hilarious when I was at the Twilight marathon and everyone around me would just scream out 'red flag' whenever Edward did something icky.

But I'm also now a 26 year old watching these movies and being like... Carlisle Cullen's beauty is slept on for real, Peter Facinelli's beauty was UNHINGED in the movies.

Particularly in New Moon, the scene where he's pulling glass out of Bella's arm and Kristen Stewart looks at Peter like she's going to ravage him on that table.

And that moment where he cradles her chin and stares at her with way too much sexual tension is the moment many twihards who watched realised their daddy issues were way bigger than they anticipated (that's me I'm one of them).

13 year old me was blushing and kicking my feet over Edward Cullen and I'm sure I'll be doing the same at 43.

Some of the dialogue he says to Bella is downright cheesy and I still gush over them now.

as far as your spike/buffy comment..... a thousand times yes. i do think that smg and david boreanaz have good chemistry, but as i have gotten older i think it's harder to read the buffy and angel storyline as romantic when you understand angel's problematic history and the fact that she's sixteen when the series starts. buffy and spike are really so well matched in the show because i think we got to see the actors as adults playing adults and deal with adult things including sex and romance in ways that feel more engaging to me as an audience member. spike's also a much more funny and messy character compared to early days angel lol which always matched buffy's energy better to me. (i also personally think they are like actual soulmates and i'll ship them until i die buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut i digress)

as far as edward and bella, omg join the club i was VERY into twilight as a kid. i'm 30, so i remember reading the books, seeing the movie cast, reading stephenie meyer's blog, and all that. i literally went to see robert pattinson at the mall for a signing event.... i was truly one of those fangirls LOL

as an adult i think that's a ship that has faded a bit for me just because i think there are other fandoms where the source material for the characters is a lot richer BUT i still watch those movies every couple of years and they are def comfort films for me. plus like..... in terms of tropey good romance, twilight hits so many good beats. like i'm so sorry i can and will watch the scene where edward physically puts himself between bella and jacob (after the jacob kiss/broken hand scene) on literal repeat. i am fully weak for it idc if it's concerning to feminism lmao

also def not to sleep on your carlisle point - they REALLY played with the religious trauma and sexual tension in that scene and as an adult WOW it hits. so 100000% agree

yea that’s what i was thinking! not sure she did much between leaving tw and coming back either, but idk. i used to watch smallville with my parents, but when they stopped watching i did too (mostly bc of the one tv no recording/streaming back in the day 🤣) i’ve thought about starting it up a few times, so maybe one day. i do quite enjoy superman and lois though; one of the best cw superhero shows, so there’s that lol.

mmm that’s a tough one. i’ve always loved reading books but ever since i found fanfics they have me in a chokehold. i think it’s bc there’s just so much more you can do with stories in fanfics? like sure there can be multiple sequels to books, but there’s endless amounts of it in fanfic, especially all the things you wanted to see happen but didn’t. i read 10 books at the beginning of the year and haven’t touched one since 😅

i was thinking that i should reflect on kh2

(before i forget what it was like playing the game lol)

i genuinely think kh2 was really fun but i think it's somewhat funny that the most memorable scenes in the game for me were mostly concentrated into the scenes where roxas appeared. (the prologue made me cry at least twice. i had to pause fighting him because i was crying. i cried through his last conversation with axel. when he showed up literally every other time i was fighting back yelling bc they really did a superb job of Getting You Attached To Roxas in the prologue that i spent the whole game getting excited to see him again.) as a character i really enjoyed him and i'm glad to be seeing him again in days... i like how well they showed his confusion and struggles in the prologue and it just. makes him so easy to empathise with and root for him. and also the twilight town trio... i really want to see the real trio interacting with roxas........

i think also with the whole "defeat org13" plot i really wished we got to see the org more because pretty much most of the time when we meet org members it's either sora and co immediately antagonising them (which is for justifiable reasons considering that they worked pretty hard to fix the worlds in kh1 and now they're being told that org13 is fucking around in them again.) or they're kinda just throwing very context-loaded information at me which. isn't necessarily bad but is hard to remember and process all at once... and also the fact that we don't get to see who's talking + i don't recognise all their voices so the whole scene where zexion is being talked to about ansem/xehanort was a whole blur to me HALSDHFSKDLFJSD i didn't hate it, though i feel like a lot of it felt like going straight to fighting without trying to understand the org...

...which ig is also understandable. i did really enjoy the (surprise surprise) scene after beating roxas where sora is trying to process the fight and donald and goofy tell him that Obviously the black coats are trying to deceive him and he shouldn't dwell on it when it clearly made him stop and think and hesitate...

either way. i think after getting through com (reverse/rebirth especially) and also the prologue i was expecting a big character moment or sort of culmination at the end for sora similar to how riku accepts his darkness as part of him and how roxas pieces things together but i guess the ending was a bit. strange to me because it just kinda was an "our hearts are connected so here's a happy ending" which didn't really make sense to me bc. the door to light just showed up because sora read kairi's letter to him? and while i kinda get it, it made me so confused for a while because i was trying to think of a proper explanation for it before just accepting it's just an "our hearts are connected" thing and magic happened (shrugs). that said, while i liked the conclusion sora and riku come to at the end when they're stuck at the... uh.... dark beach place......... where they're happy to bear the darkness so that their friends can continue living in the light, it kinda... felt completely moot when the door to light thing happened. and also i'm glad that roxas and namine got to meet again and i really . really liked seeing them in the ending movie but Man I Really Wanted To See Them More. i feel like i am complaining too much about that

also with riku i felt like i was expecting a lot more screentime from him but i think the way he acted reflected the conclusion he made at the end of com and i really liked that sora and kairi were able to accept him even when he was in ansem mode... like. if that's not friendship then What Else Would Be. in terms of kairi i had to ask mage about her keyblade and their explaining that the game is just allergic to kairi doing anything actually. makes a lot of sense bc i really wished she was also there when sora/riku/the king opened the door at the end!!! (it also made me wonder when riku's sword turned into a keyblade but i think that was also waved off as a "he became worthy of wielding a keyblade again" thing) (and also where the hell did he get kairi's keyblade from. the fact that not even mage knows this one is not comforting lmao)

actually going to talk about gameplay now and i think i remember hearing people say that the boss fights and gimmick battles are what make kh2 Really Shine and i think i kinda understand... the boss fights being made unique with the reaction commands was good and i did enjoy some of them... the others though. i still find it extremely funny how i survived demyx perfectly fine but then i got walled on XALDIN (not to mention marluxia fucked me up so badly i raged on him)

i don't hate com's battle system and kh1 was pretty similar on a base level so i can't say much about comparison but i think . i think it should be easier to level up drive forms. i really think drive form grinding was awful because i Almost Never used drive forms until i realised they gave you movement abilities WHILE I WAS ALREADY HALFWAY THROUGH THE GAME. i played the entire first half WITHOUT DODGE ROLL LMAO. and then i had to grind all of them all at once. awful.

anyway. i did enjoy kh2. i promise i will go back and do the cavern of remembrance and try the data fights + lingering will at some point. it just might take me a while. hrhfhgfhgffdj. it was a good game though i liked it

okay so its an AU of KH set in like. mostly the real world. theres witches and vampires and fairies (?? i need to figure out what theyre called) and werewolves but MOST of those arent important to the plot. its mostly the witch stuff. its about 2002 give or take and set in america™ but ive never been and i also wasnt alive in 2002 so take that as you will. i wanna achieve the vibes of old ffnet fics from that time but with a bit more...focus ??? and more modern understandings of the characters

twilight town is where its set, which is kinda a hub for a lot of the weird supernatural shit, but also really normal. kinda like salem in the monster high ghouls rule movie -- like, everyone knows a vampire or werewolf or whatever but nobody says anything, really. oh that might be a metaphor. whatever moving on. the main character is actually kairi !! its all from her perspective. shes 16 here. her sister is namine, who does correspondence schooling after an "incident" thats not really expanded upon, mostly just talked around -- theres a lot of talking around and not directly addressing stuff actually -- with her witch powers. she also does magic tutoring with aqua on some evenings, but aqua is a fairy (again idk what to call them. the supernatural shit all comes from the sims 3 if youre familiar), and witches and fairies are similar, but witches are distinguished by their use of "dark" magic as opposed to "light". aqua doesnt believe one can turn from a witch into a fairy, but also seems to try to be doing that to namine -- shes doing her best to try and guide her, but isnt yet able to understand that the path of the pure light (coughs) isnt always sustainable or achievable for everyone. shes doing what she thinks is right though. also aqua, terra, and ven all live together with eraqus who isnt dead (?) but there was also an unspeakable incident a few years ago with terra and eraqus and dark magic. terra and ven also know namine, even if she doesnt really leave the house because of the incident (alluding to how she was kinda a ghost girl in the mansion in kh2 prologue)

also another bit of backstory is that xion and axel died a year beforehand (in the last week of summer vacation) in a car accident after a terrible series of arguments with roxas. xions body was um. burned beyond recognition (this is IMPORTANT for later events i promise im not making a haha nobody remembers xion joke. i think the forgetting of xion is very very tragic as im afraid of being forgotten lol haha anyways) but either way they both died and roxas is trying to move on but its. difficult. also sora and roxas are twins, and ven and vanitas are their cousins, but V&V dont turn up all that much. i find sometimes people think, when writing AUs, that ventus is the one who wants to repair the relationship between the two but he really does not. he kinda wants to cut vanitas off and is actually kinda past arguing with him (in KH3, Vanitas says right before fading away, "Ventus, I DID decide who I am. You see?" Ven replies, "And what you are is darkness?" Vanitas agrees, saying "What I am is darkness." theres a beat, and then Ven kinda resigns saying. "...okay.") its VANITAS who wants to join with him. but then again, vanitas also kinda pulls apart the relationship too. its more complex that "ven is good so he wants to fix their relationship and vanitas is bad so he wants to destroy it." they want different things, things that are mutually exclusive !! anyways.

also kairi, again, our main POV character, is experiencing the distancing between her and riku and sora from growing up, as well as the expectations placed upon her (not specifically as a princess of heart, but similar, and also i think i tend to write about girls with a lot of expectations on their shoulders ???). shes afraid of this change, and wants to cling to what used to be, and so shes especially distanced herself from riku. riku wants things to be different, finding twilight town / destiny islands (which is very close, and where a lot of the characters live, but you have to take a train (the train to the beach) there) to be too small for him, wanting better things, so he both pushes and pulls at his relationship with sora and kairi, wanting to grow up faster, and not wanting to leave his friends behind, but also thinking hes outgrown them.

the start isnt much, just kairi, sora, selphie and tidus on the tram home from school, but theres a mirroring of the scene on the dock with kairi and sora, when selphie invites them to a bonfire on the beach for the first weekend of school, since itll get colder soon and this is their last chance as well as being a new beginning to the year. kairi says oh dw kidding, you call riku when we get home to invite him okay ? and then namine and all that magic is introduced too. a couple days later, kairi, roxas, riku, and sora are assigned a group project in woodshop, so they all go to kairis after school. this is when roxas meets namine for the first time in a while, finds out oh shit shes a witch, and they actually get on really well, so they start hanging out more in general.

the bonfire night has a lot of stuff to do with change and expectations, its not very fleshed out since it wasnt supposed to happen but selphie turned to me while i was like hm i need for them to chat about something and told me dw i got this and now i got like three side plots. anyways. because of this i have to write a bunch more scenes, most of which are dot points and nonsense currently, but the more important stuff is:

namine and roxas, become friends properly, and so they actually start a plan to bring xion and axel back to life with necromancy (as guided by a dark magic book that terra gave to namine, as he understands that darkness isnt always bad, but did caution her about it)

the way ive decided that necromancy works is that you need some sort of vessel, preferably the corpse of the person you wanna bring back. however, if using a different vessel in this case, a puppet thing for xion (since her body is a bit. well. worse for wear) its a bit more difficult. you need to inject memories into the vessel, and the more there is the easier it is the bring her back to life. memories are more accessible while sleeping (for science reasons, this is because we often encode memories into our long term memory when sleeping) and for kh reasons, well, you've seen chain of memories and melody of memory and kh2 and well. everything. anyways so namine decides the person that was fairly close to xion but not too close (like roxas, since hes helping with the plan) that is the easiest to steal memories from at night is naturally kairi, since she sleeps in the same house as her. also i forgot to mention -- namine mostly uses art materials as a focus for her magic, especially the more difficult stuff

cue a scene where kairi wakes up one night with namine standing over her, breaking a crayon and reciting a spell

so kairi starts to forget xion, and also because axel has been dead for a year, they need some memories of him too, so they steal those from kairi and roxas mostly

riku has also been roped into this plan, mostly because namine and roxas need someone else to dig up a grave with them, and he owes namine and xion, even if him and roxas dont really get on. they steal some memories from him as well

like i said theres a LOT of stuff happening with kairi in the foreground so this stuff is slower and more in the background, idk if this will still be a oneshot by the time im done

the day before halloween (since its american, i think i got my school timings right) riku, sora and kairi have a bit of an argument, mostly about riku growing up too fast, think like KH1 riku (its an AU i can mix different plot lines okay

HALLOWEEN NIGHT: the climax of all the supernatural bullshit

kairi notices namine isnt home, hasnt left a note, doesnt have a cell phone, which is worrying for a girl who has like 2 friends and mostly stays at home, so she phones sora, whos like huh yeah roxas is also not at home. weird. maybe theyre together ??? or maybe something bad has happened. shit

so they meet up and go like yeah theyve both been acting kinda weird recently. lets go look for them, so they go to the usual spot of hayner pence and olette, they go to the tower, they go to all the shops, they go to where aqua lives, they go a lot of places, its also a bit hard to check since theres so many trick or treaters around. sora calls riku (payphone, again, this is early 2000s or maybe earlier even idk it just makes sense to call on a payphone in this setting okay.) and he doesnt answer, but maybe hes just out, still weird though. EVENTUALLY, one of their friends is like uh yeah idk but they might have gone to the graveyard, saw them near there and it is like, halloween, so maybe thats why ???

i think that movie about the dogs. spooky buddies. might have influenced this. what the fuck. also bunks but thats a zombie movie. i dont watch a lot of movies i saw those both like ten years ago at the most recent

also ive been writing this post for like 40 minutes. WHAT.

anyways they go to the graveyard, its dark, they have to crawl over the fence and they go. hm. well idk if namine and roxas would have gotten over this fence by themselves since namine doesnt do sports or anything like kairi does...maybe theyre not here...?

so then they see namine and riku flicking watercolour paint onto axels dead body and roxas pouring a salt circle around a wooden puppet dressed in a costume from spirit halloween which is obviously like. what the fuck is happening here

kairi expresses, hey, what the fuck are you doing and namine is like im using watercolour since its natural -- oil paint wouldve been better, but im all out and acrylic isnt good for spells--- oh wait. yeah necromancy

after a bit more discussion of "what is happening and how did this happen ???" which explains all the weird shit theyve been doing in the background, kairi kinda argues with roxas, saying okay yeah i get what youre doing but you didnt have to use namine (think of DiZ and marluxia and larxene, probably the causes of the previous incident), what the fuck. i often think about that bit where kairi says to sora, "let me keep you safe" -- she does want to protect people, and is upset in KH2 when she cant remember sora at all, so i think those two bits fuelled this desire, to keep her sister (in this AU) safe, just as she keeps namines heart safe in KH2 & KH3, even if she wants to let namine be her own person.

kairi just wants things to go back to how they used to be, when she didnt have to worry about this and there wasnt any dangerous magic (again, think KH1 kairi here), but then roxas is like. yeah. same i also want things to go back to how they used to be, when my friends were yknow, alive

kairi concedes here, seeing how that change isnt necessarily bad, actually quite good; change is a part of life, but if youre unhappy it might be worth trying to get things back to how they used to be, but sometimes you need to go with the change and grow up, as you cant stay in the past forever

after a bit more stuff. axel and xion wake up yayyyyy. the spell mostly went as planned, but kairi cant quite remember xion still. namine says she'll do her best to fix the memories of those that she took and yayyyy maybe ill do more about like. the aftermath of coming back to life from xion & axels POV but either way this fic went from fun halloween idea ??? to character study about growing up and change and expectations about what people want you to be versus who you are. IVE BEEN WRITING FOR AN HOUR FUCK I HAVE TO STUDY

writing fic is so funny because i dont really consider stuff to be like. shippy unless i specifically tag it as such. but i have the mentality of cishet 90s shonen writers i think because i keep looking at interactions ive written and going oh thats a bit fruity i didnt mean to do that

* Well, whatever, you’ll finish the rest of the book tomorrow and never think about that awful franchise again.

* When you wake up you feel an ache in your head. But you didn’t drink last night, maybe you’re dehydrated

* You shift, noting the smooth silk of the covers. Now you’re alarmed.

* You don’t have silk sheets

* You see a mirror in the corner of the room, and rush over

* The face that looks back at you is different then yours

* It’s the same in some ways, but different all the same

* The curve of your nose is slightly off, your lips are thinner, eyes a little closer together.

* The memories begin to flood in, in this world you were on a graduation trip with your parents, you got an all inclusive package. Three days of sightseeing in Volterra.

* You dumbly followed, asking question where you shouldn’t. And ended up at the volturi’s door

* Aro had grasped your hand to see how much you knew, only too see nothing. Likewise Jane’s powers did not work as well

* Alec basically talks your ear off the entire way to the Volturi library, mostly about literature

* “What are your thoughts on Anna Kerenina?”

* “That the patriarchy needs to be burned to the ground.”

* He even talks when you’re at the library, much to the annoyance of a few of the other patrons

* “Which book are you looking for now?”

* You stop mid motion on the ladder and turn to look at him. His ruby eyes glowing, he looks bloated. Like he’s fed too much.

* “Alec, why are we friends?”

* You really should keep your mouth shut. Alec was the only real ally you had, you shouldn’t say anything that might put him off

* And yet, it unnerved you, because the Alec in front of you was a very different character then the one you had come to see.

* He looks at you like you hung the moon,

* “Because you’re the most interesting human in the world”

* You burst out laughing, earning several glares.

* “I-I’m sorry Alec, but I’m not, I’m just the most interesting human you KNOW, there’s way more people who are more interesting than me.”

* You expect to see him offended, and he does, but there’s a twinkle in his eyes

* “I’m not so sure about that”

* The days creep by, reading books, eating snacks, it’s nice

* You learn, that Alec hasn’t talked to a human in a very long time. Outside of the screams he heard after devouring one.

* He hasn’t been outside the castle walls in many years, possibly a century.

* It’s the 90’s, so smartphones haven’t been invented yet.

* And that’s how you got Alec hooked onto cable television

* This body was only 18 after all.

* One day when you and Alec are lazing around the library when she appears, she says nothing, just sits down next to Alec and reads a book

* And that’s how you basically adopted the sadist twins

* It’s a little harder to get Jane to open up, but once you make a comment about how Phoebe was the best character in friends, she starts to open up

* “Humans are cruel, even when they’re kind it’s only because they want something from you.”

* “Is that what you think about me? That I’m only nice to you because I want something?” she meets your eyes for a few minutes before turning away

* “I’m not sure”

* You understand very gradually why they’re so twisted

* “How are you feeling?” You don’t recognize this vampire, but you don’t really know anyone outside of Alec and Jane.

* “My body’s still grieving, but my mind is sharp.”

* It’s incoherent at best, but there’s truth to it, your body is still grieving for your parents and the life you’ve lost, but your otherworldly mind is ten steps ahead, cross referencing every action.

* The man offers a short chuckle

* “You really did a number on your hand. I’ve done what I can but...”

* You look down to your hand, half surprised by the bright yellow cast encasing it

* You had figured you would wake up to be a vampire, it just made sense, these were unfamiliar human aches to them after all and vampirism was a simple and effective cure

* They must want something from you, if they’re keeping you human

* You suspect it’s something along the lines of how they waited until Jane and Alec were burning at the stake to save them, so their power would be that much more potent

* Maybe they’re doing the opposite with you, trying to make you as happy as possible to see what effect it has on your ability

* It’s too bad you don’t have one

* “Thank you for your hard work.” You mumble, being human for a little bit longer is well worth the pain.

* “How did you break your hand?”

* “I held Janes’ hand”

* Your doctor let’s out a short laugh

* “That sounds about right”

* You smile, it does sound right, of course you would break your hand that way

* The conversation flows naturally after that, you talk about all sorts of things

* “You think vampires have souls?” He quirks an eyebrow

* “I’m of the opinion that a soul is something you create through hardship and struggle, being able to live longer means that you have more opportunities to have the experiences that result in a soul”

* “That’s an intriguing notion, I wish I had brought my son with me.”

* You’re about to ask about his son, when you’re interrupted by the door swimming open

* “I heard you were awake, are you alright?” Alec rushes in, his eyes frantic

* “Yeah these drugs are top notch” you press the button that releases the pain killers and let out a giggle

* “Is that alright? Humans are awfully sensitive.” Jane pipes up from behind Alec, you hadn’t noticed her in your haze.

* Your doctor chuckles

* “I’m aware,” he’s smiling but it’s strained

* “What’s wrong?” You ask, he was so calm until a second ago, he doesn’t answer you

* “I’ll give you three a moment.”

* You only register he’s gone when you hear the door close

* The twins rush over to you, Jane is kneeled by your side, while Alec hovers over you

* “I-I’m sorry I hurt you, I forgot-I didn’t remember.” You we’re sure Jane would be crying if she could

* “It’s okay, I know you didn’t mean it.” You raise your cast encased hand and give her a gentle pat on the head. “From now on, physical signs of affection will just be one sided.” You joke, which makes Jane grin

* “I’ll practice with some animals before I try touching you again”

* The three of you chat for a bit, they’re both surprised by your cast and ask several questions about its “primary function”

* “I didn’t know there was a doctor here” you murmur, feeling drowsy

* “Carlisle’s not with the Volturi, he’s from another coven in the new world.”

* Your drowsiness flies away in a second

* “That was Carlisle?”

* Jane looks somewhat confused but nods.

* A flutter of hope erupts in your chest, it’s so strong even your grief stricken body feels it

* You might have a chance. It’s slim, Carlisle has a family he loves and needs to protect. But still, they were strangers once too. No different than you.

* It’s a way out of here

* The next few days follow in a drugged haze, Alec and Jane visit every so often, and Carlisle engages you in occasional conversation while checking progress on your hand

* “Why are your eyes gold?” You know, but well, you need him to believe the lie

* “It’s a bit of a long story” he says with a wary smile.

* “I’m not going anywhere”

* He sighs, a genuine smile encompassing his face as he recounts the tale.

* Even though you’ve already heard it all before, it still makes you cry

* Even in the haze, you know something’s.... off

* There’s something about the way Alec won’t meet your eyes when he talks to you, and the uneasy weight that lingers in the air whenever someone else is in the room

* On the third day, it’s Aro who visits you, Alec and Carlisle in tow behind him.

* “Oh my, all that internal bleeding, how awful”

* Even you can feel the insincerity, but it’s the first you heard about internal bleeding

* So that explains it, the drugs and the aches all along your body, it wasn’t just your hand, you were dying

* “Don’t worry, we’ll save you” Aro’s smile is cruel “won’t we Alec?”

* Alec looks afraid, almost pained, but he nods

* Ah, so this was punishment for Alec too. Until that moment, when Jane broke your hand, Aro must have been ignorant to how close the three of you had gotten.

* You close your eyes, you knew this would happen eventually. There were only two ending to this story, and it seemed one had finally been picked

* You feel a pinch on your neck, right above your collar bone, no worse than a flue shot.

* You wait for the pain, the vivid screams you remember from the books and movies, but it never comes.

* Instead it’s just a warm numbness that spreads across your neck and left shoulder.

* “It doesn’t hurt” you murmur, you feel a cold hand rest against your forehead, Alex’s hand.

* It’s so gentle, he must have practiced on some animals first, you think.

* “No the pain comes later.”

* And so you drift into inky black unconsciousness, the last sleep of your human life in this world.

* You dream that you’re sitting at the bottom of a tree, a fig tree, like the one Sylvia Plath wrote about

* Each fig a different path, half of them have already fallen off, dark, as they rot at your feet

* “How do you do it?”

* You look to your side and find the person who’s face you see in the mirror, they’re hugging their knees to their chest, dark circles under their eyes

* “How do I do what?” You ask, they bite their lip

* “How can you be so strong when you’ve just lost everything?”

* You see their eyes brim with tears, and you look away, to the tree that looks over you both

* “I don’t know” It’s the truth, you have an unfair advantage in this world, because you know all the secrets each person carries, while yours remain shrouded in darkness. And yet... it’s not why you persevere

* “All I do know, is that I want to give them hell”

* Your counterpart grins at that, and to your surprise, you feel a smile stretch out across your face

* Yeah, it’s not about power, you just want raise some hell in this backwards misogynistic world.

* “I guess that’s the one you’re picking then huh?” Your counterpart points to a fig, it’s on the tallest branch of the tree, so far out of reach it almost seems unobtainable

* But you only nod

* “Yeah, I think that’s the way I’m going to go”

* They look at you and smile.

@stregoni-benefici you are completely correct but I just wanted to expand on this a little bit - also i’m putting this under a read more cause this got a lot longer than i originally thought it would be

sexism: smeyers treatment of female characters throughout the entire series is extremely problematic. like you don’t even need to read deep into the books to see that. the backstories of all her female characters all involve some form of trauma and are significantly more violent than the male vampires (Rosalie and Esme enduring physical/sexual assault meanwhile Edward dies of the flu and Emmett gets vibe checked by a bear).

she also creates the idea that a woman isn’t complete without children/being a mother. every female vampire in the series is desperate for children yet can’t, its mentioned in pretty much every book and extreme emphasis is placed on how tragic this is. a female character wanting children isn’t wrong or sexist at all but the way its written in twilight makes it seem like its something a woman has to do in order to be happy and smeyer pretty much cements this idea by making Bella suddenly desperate to have Renesmee despite showing no interest in children/audibly voicing her thoughts against having children in eclipse and the start of breaking dawn (i’m pretty sure Bella has a line of dialogue in the books where she says something like she didn’t realise it was something she wanted/needed until it happened bit I’m not sure I try not to read/think about breaking dawn)

there’s also the way she writes female characters, specifically Rosalie. its mentioned throughout the series that Rosalie has extreme mechanical skills and multiple degrees in STEM fields but its barely ever shown, and instead her characterisation focuses on being obsessed with her looks (first couple pages of this, written by smeyer for new moon), and being a ‘stereotypical bitch’. for the first three books most of her character/dialogue is based on being cold and rude to Bella. She is unnecessarily painted as the villain for having different views on Bella (quite literally) giving up her life and future to be with a man (which is a whole other can of worms). the same is done to the character of Leah in eclipse/breaking dawn. Leah is a woman in the Quileute Tribe, she has been severely affected by the Cullen’s presence in the area and is painted as a character that the reader is supposed to dislike simply because she doesn’t like Bella/the Cullen’s despite having extremely valid reasons not to

anti-Native - smeyers treatment of native tribes is horrendous. she has profited fr years off of of native american culture for years and has done so without any acknowledgements. furthermore, she also demonises native american teens (especially in new moon) by calling them wild, violent, dangerous and out of control and then uses these stereotypes to create a contrast between the self control and patience of the Cullen’s and make them seem more like the good guys, and the wolf pack being lesser. She does this again with the treatment of Jacobs character in new moon and especially eclipse.

Jacob starts off in new moon as Bella’s best friend. he helps Bella come out of a severe depression caused when Edward left at the start of the book. however in eclipse his character makes a complete flip and he becomes moody, temperamental, argumentative and disrespectful of Bella’s boundaries. his character becomes unrecognisable and despite smeyers claims of a love triangle, it is obvious what the outcome will be. I have seen countless instances of people on this site claiming they hate Jacob because he is a dick/disrespectful/just as unhealthy as Edward. this was done on purpose by smeyer as she uses Jacob to make Edward seem like the obvious and correct choice for Bella. if you need more proof of this, take the scene where Jacob kisses Bella without her consent and she breaks her hand when punching him, Edward swoops in and almost gets into a fight with Jacob for touching Bella without her consent. this is an obvious attempt to make Jacob seem like the villain and Edward the white saviour

there’s also the treatment of the native characters by the white characters in the books. multiple times in the series, the native characters are called/compared to dogs/brutes and have a distinct unpleasant smell. I don’t think I need to explain how this is racist. the pack also helps the Cullen’s/saves Bella’s lives and never receive any acknowledgement/are treated any better by the Cullen’s/anyone really. the pack are only ever used as a way to make the Cullen’s look better.

there’s also some pretty obvious similarities to colonisation with the Cullen’s entering Quiluete lands which then forces them to start phasing into wolves (and I’m pretty sure none of the pack actually want to start phasing). also, remember Leah? the only female member of the wolf pack? because of the change she effectively can’t have children? that has implications.

and to top it all off, after doing all that, smeyer has never once addressed this or even acknowledged the Quileute Tribe.

pedophilic - I mean even without mentioning breaking dawn its pretty awful. first of all you’ve got the blatant sexualisation of minors throughout the entire series. Edward is 17 throughout the series and smeyer is writing literal paragraphs about his chiselled abs. Jacob is 16/17 when she has him running about forks topless with a 6 pack. this is way more apparent in the movies but its still a huge issue in the books and lead to Taylor Lautner being confronted by adult fans trying to get him to sign their underwear, and being forced into being shirtless for most of the movies which made him extremely uncomfortable (Elizabeth Reaser (Esme) briefly talks about this in the ID10T podcast on spotify). and just as a reminder, Taylor was 16 when the first one was filmed and 17 for the second.

Breaking Dawn is a whole other can of worms. the glaringly obvious issue is Jacob imprinting on a literal newborn baby. now the concept of imprinting itself has racist elements to it, but its heavily implied in the series that imprinting will inevitably lead to a romantic relationship. Jacob imprinting on Renesmee and waiting until she is old enough to enter into a romantic relationship (never mind the fact that shes ‘old enough’ she will still technically be 5) is pretty much grooming. The same happens with Quil and his imprint, Claire (a two year old) where I’m pretty sure there’s a scene in breaking dawn where Jacob and Leah are watching Quil play with Claire and talking about how Quil isn’t going to date anyone because he and Claire are ‘pretty much inevitable’ (i might be wrong though, like I said I try not to read/think about breaking dawn)

smeyer has also written a spin off book (its like 250 odd pages) called the short second life of Bree Tanner (Bree is that newborn vampire killed after the battle in eclipse by the Volturi btw). In this book, Bree is 15 almost 16, and another character Diego is 18 which is definitely pushing the boundaries of ok. (also as a side note, funny how Bree and Jacob are literally the same age and smeyer states multiple times how Bree deserved better and is only a child (who straight up kills people), yet when it comes to Jacob he has to be a responsible adult and is vilified for every mistake he makes)

racist - smeyer refused to let Catherine Hardwicke (director of the first twilight) have a diverse cast because she ‘imagined them a certain way’ (white) and it was a fight to get Edi Gathegi cast as Laurent and had to compromise with smeyer to make Bella’s friend group more diverse. this woman straight up refused to hire more diverse actors and only agreed to when they were side characters/villains.

Also in the official companion book/guide to twilight, smeyer literally writes that vampire venom makes you white

‘the venom leeches all pigmentation from the skin into a more indestructable vampire form…regardless of original ethnicity a vampires skin will be exceptionally pale’ (official illustrated guide pg.69)

this is a whole lot of bullshit cause she is literally whitewashing characters, but when you pair this with the idea that vampires possess inhuman levels of beauty it becomes extremely problematic and implies that being pale/white is more beautiful than darker skin tones.

also, if we go back to Laurent’s character for a second. so Laurent is one of the only characters who isn’t described as white (in the books he is described as having a pale olive skin tone) and in the first book he comes across as pretty reasonable (warning carlisle about James/Victoria, travels up to Denali and tries out the veggie lifestyle) but in new moon, his characterisation pulls a 180° (sensing a theme here) and is suddenly trying to kill Bella as a favour to Victoria and is Evil™ despite in the first book he literally says to Carlisle he didn’t particularly like travelling with James/Victoria and was only really doing it for convenience. where did this undying loyalty come from? yet again, smeyer is completely disregarding established characterisation in POC characters specifically to villainise them.

and finally, we have Jasper. for some reason (that reason being that she is racist) smeyer decides to make Jasper a confederate soldier in his human life. if you don’t have a lot of knowledge on the american civil war, the confederacy were the side of the US that seceded from the union in order to keep their slaves. Jasper was a confederate soldier, and not just any soldier, but a major. Jasper was a major in an army that fought for 4 years to keep the existence of slavery (and don’t even try to say that slavery wasn’t the root cause of the civil war. states rights aye? states rights to do what). now there’s an argument out there made by certain fans that a lot of people joined the confederate army out of pride/were forced into it cause of conscription to try and head canon the racism away but like that doesn’t matter. there was literally no need to make jasper a confederate in the first place. if she was so desperate to have a civil war vampire then she could have made him a member of the union. its been common knowledge that the confederacy was racist for a long time now, smeyer has absolutely no excuses here.

a lot of these issues overlap and I have probably missed heaps of issues (so feel free to add on) but hope this helps explain why smeyer can *ahem* get tae absolute fuck

Hey Giselle!! I was reading some of your Peter F. Posts and I was wondering, do you have any fancasts of him or an approximation? I'm ver queries, Carlisle is my favourite character both in the books and movie, but I'm very fond of his actors 😅. Anyway, thoughts? (I di think he maybe should've had longer hair for the century he was born in lol)

You know, I don't? I don't like the movies really at all except for a handful of very small subtle moments. I only ever bought the first one, even, and that was in an era where I bought many more movies, so that's saying a lot. And I am bad at actors and movies. I like stories; it is usually very inconsequential to me who is playing a given character and I will often see an actor three or four times in different roles without realizing they are the same actor.

I loved the graphic novels for this reason. I felt like I did when I saw Alan Rickman as the cast for Snape (this will date me; I was reading HP back before they ever cast the films--I still remember standing in my dorm room and seeing the grainy photo of Dan, Rupert, and Emma and dissecting their appearances to death with my hallmate) and went "Oh my god, I've never really thought about what this person would look like, but yes this is what they look like." That's what I feel about graphic novel Carlisle. He's the character in my head, and it's why you'll almost never see me posting a picture of PFach when I could post a snapshot from the graphic novels instead. @kellythepitiablefangirl's rendition of GN Carlisle is similarly lovely to me, as is @needahugfromesme's.

But I have given this some thought lately and I have an answer? Which is not completely satisfying to me. But if someone handed me the Twilight script in 2008, I would've cast Sam Clafin. He has a face that is very gentle and expressive, and he has the range as an actor to be "whoop it up fratboy" and also "deadly serious if I told you I was 40 you'd believe me" gravitas. That's essential to who Carlisle is; he carries himself in such a way that even though people are like, "Wow he seems young" nobody thinks he's a Doogie Howser or a Sean Murphy. They believe him that he's passed his boards; they accept when he's yelling at them about their incompetence. And yet, he could easily pass for a frat boy when pal-ing around with his sons. So the actor has to be able to pull off that ambiguity.

I think Sam Clafin would be able to do that. He looks boyish and adorable, but he also can carry himself with an aura of churlish wisdom. He dances this line really nicely in Me Before You and to a lesser extent in the Mockingjays.

Mind you, he's not what I picture Carlisle as looking like. But I think he could pull off the role better than Peter did.

That being said, I get it. Nobody expected Twilight to be the blockbuster it was. They cast a solidly B-list cast, which made complete sense from a filmmaking perspective—part of the reason the first film is my favorite is that it is just so unapologetically bad. And then the fangirls were so rabid that recasting any of the main characters seemed like a very bad idea. They caught enough flak for recasting Bryce Dallas Howard. So I get why they ended up with PFach. But he just can't carry Carlisle, and he absolutely does not do so at any point in the series.

[I'm planning to do book reviews since I just recently got back into reading after the longest time. The last time I remember picking up a book willingly was in 6th grade when I read warrior cats lol. But ya I plan on doing book review but we will see how long this lasts as it takes me a while to finish a book because of my major procrastination but also the fact that I have school.]

Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief 

Just for some context before I get into the review, I have never read percy Jackson. There were always the book divide back in middle school, you were either a percy jackson fan, harry potter fan, twilight fan, or the furries in the corner reading warrior cats [I sadly was one of them, i'm not a furry btw]. One of my friends was a huge fan of percy jackson at the time [during middle school] so during the summer I was scrolling through pinterest and saw this fanart, I knew it was from percy jackson and I was hella bored so I decided to get the book and read it, and let me tell you, I don't regret it. 

Before going into the book: I didn't really expect anything since I knew absolutely nothing about the book, all I knew was there was a horrible movie, and that there was this thing called camp half blood witch I thought that majority of the book was going to take place in sort of how harry potter takes place in Hogwarts most of the time. But I have the attention span of a two year old so reading a full book for the first time willingly in a long time was going to be hard. So I did the uhinkableble... I watched the movie. Now hear me out that movie was such a bad movie, like I knew it was bad but sometimes you want to watch a bad movie, but watching this bad move made me want to read the books even more, so I thank the movies. But I will say I love how the movie made camp halfblood look, like it looks exactly like how I imagined it to look. 

Overall book: The overall book was good, the fact that this was the book that got me back into reading says something. I loved the characters and the little adventures they went on to make it to the end goal. This book also made me much more invested in Greek mythology than I already was. There were some parts were I started to get board since it was kind of like an adventure book, and some of the adventures were a little boring or I wished some of the adventures would last longer, ex; the casino I wished it lasted a little bit longer, maybe I was heavily influenced by the movie which made the casino part way longer. Also the movie did a horrible job portraying the book like I felt like the movie I watched and the book I just read were not the same thing, but I guess it was good since I didn't get a huge spoiler. 

Characters: I originally thought I wasn't going to like Annabeth, because if she was anything like Hermione from Harry Potter than you can just get her out of here [as you can see I personally don't like Hermione]. But I was proven wrong, there were some points that I didn't like her but I didn't hate her, like I felt like we could be friends or something, overall she was an okay character. Grover was okay he wasn't anything special for me but i never hated him. Now my favorite characters, Aries and Percy, ill start with Percy. I love Percy he was so adorable and I loved how sasy he was, like gave no shit that the gods could be listening to him at sometimes. I usually NEVER like the main characters since they always seem the same, but Percy proved me wrong his sas and the way he acts like a main protagonist but with some sas, it makes his personality all the more perfect, so now Percy is my favrote character and I will protect this pure bean for eternity. Now my more controversial favorite character Ares, now hear me out. I like Ares cuz he gives me badass toxic dad energy, like he is not going to take anyone's shit, especially if its coming from a kid even though he acts childish himself. My favorite parts of this book was the interaction between Percy and Ares how Percy didn't give a shit that he was a god who had more power he wasn't going to be pushed around, then we have ares this cool god being told of by this child while Annabeth and Grover are like in the corner praying for there dear life that Arese doesn't do anything to them.

Overall I give this book  𓆉  𓆉  𓆉  .5 / 5 turtles, it was a good book to start with and get back into reading but its not something I see myself reading again, like it was a good experience for a one time thing, maybe in the near future but as for now i'm satisfied with the book.

You have to have really clear communication with him 

Which you do,, and he appreciates it a lot

You baby step into affection and intimacy

And let him take the lead a lot

But after a bit he gets these bursts of affection where he’ll cuddle and make out with you for like

Five minutes or less

Then it starts to feel weird again

You try to do small stuff like hand holding or blowing him a kiss or putting your head on his shoulder to help melt that ice

And it works

It goes from feeling weird, to weird but nice, to nice but kind of weird, to nice enough to ignore the weird part

As soon as he can be,,, he is an affectionate fiend

He likes to bear hug you a lot

He keeps a hand on your cheek or jaw line or the back of your neck when you kiss a lot

He still gets a little weird about his back or stomach or neck being touched which you totally understand 

So you kiss his shoulders and collarbones and run your hands over his chest and arms a lot

Once he had a really bad dream and couldn’t sleep cause he didn’t feel safe bc

So you played some home renovation show and spooned him and whispered

“It’s okay, I’ve got your back”

He didn’t have anymore nightmares that night

He really likes back hugs after that, as long as he knows it’s you behind him

He gives really nice kisses

It’s like a big full kiss

Idk how else to describe it but it’s very unique to him

He’s super protective over you still in a healthy way

He’s super fuckin pansexual and you can pry that from my cold dead hands

So he has a lot of hoodies and denim jackets

And bracelet stacks and weird dad thrift store shirts

And you can get him more of these things no matter how many he has and he will love it an equal amount 

Which is a lot

He gets kind of insecure and feels bad about all his weird symptoms bc he minimizes what he’s been through a lot

It’s kind of a why can’t I just get over it and be normal feeling

You remind him a lot that it’s okay and his feelings and experiences are valid and he’s safe now

He needs to hear that a lot

Once a lot of that ice has been broken he gets really touchy really fast

You two were just like

Chilling on the couch watching a movie or something

And he nuzzles into your side to cuddle

So you lay down a little more and he rests his head on your chest

You keep watching the movie like that for a while 

He props himself up and just kind of looks at you for a minute

He can’t remember feeling this warm before he met you

And now he feels really really warm 

And tingly

You’re about to look over and ask if he’s alright when he just 

Presses his face into your neck and starts kissing you

You let out this breathy flustred little laugh he’s never heard before and he wants to make you make that sound again

He kisses up to your face and his hair is all in his eyes

So you brush it out of the way and tuck it behind his ear and his face nuzzles into your hand

He bites back a moan

You end up making out a lot

You don’t question it or ask where that came from

You just give him a lot of love and reassurance

You also steal them and swap them out when they don’t smell like him anymore

He loves having picnics outside with you

Especially to go stargazing

Yeah rooftop picnics are a thing

Plus people can’t really see what you’re doing and no one really goes up there so uh

As long as you can stay quiet you’re never bored

Sometimes when you’re stargazing his hand will just kind of gradually go from resting on your hip to wrapping his arms around you and having you lean against his chest

You sometimes raid the fridge together in the middle of the night

You took him to mcdonalds at like 2am once

It was not the last time that happened

Totally the type to love getting matching pj bottoms with you

Really loves it when you hold his hand with both of yours

It makes him feel really loved and masculine in a good healthy way and generally good

On days when he just Needs a Distraction you try any hobby or activity you can get your hands on

His favorites so far are painting each others nails, random online flash games like papa’s, finding the best climbing trees (weather permitting), and binge watching and reviewing the weirdest shows and movies you can find

Including but not limited to flava of love, josie and the pussycats in outer space, lightning point, and clone high

The movies are usually really low budget, or questionable teen romance movies like twilight, sierra burgess is a loser, the kissing booth etc.

alrighty, it’s time again for me to share some more of my music tastes! really glad you guys like the first one, so i decided to do it again! once again, tagging the lovely @loth-wolffe & @weirdcharacter because they loved what i did the first time, so ya’ll can have a second one lol 😂

OKAY, OKAY!! HEAR ME OUT!! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SONG SANG BY A STRONG FEMALE IN THE ROLE OF THE VILLAIN, THEN ANNAPANTSU IS THE PERSON FOR YOU!! i love this song, i feel so powerful whenever i listen to it. also the movie it’s from is awesome! cover art is spooky, but i love the purple. solid 8/10 on the cover art! also, Anna’s voice is so good! she’s really good and it flows really well with the music! she also has a cover of “prince ali” and at the end she goes so high omg 😆 anyways, at the end of this song, she gets so awesome omg!! she plays the character really well, overall would recommend this song if you wanna feel like a powerful voodoo villain lol 😂

ow, of course a sad ABBA song had to come on right after. so, i love this. also reminds me of Omega now because of all the artwork of seen of it with “slipping through my fingers” in the tags (also in some fics I’ve seen it). It’s ABBA, so ya know, it’s already gonna be good. this is sad, but it still has a good beat, and it’s not slow. the piano is very nice. the duet in the middle of the song is very nice. cover art is confusing?? like idk what is supposed to be happening in it lol 😂, so um 6.5/10 cuz i have no idea what’s going on in it. OMG AND THERE IS HARMONIZATION AT THE END, IT IS SO PRETTY, MAKES THE SAD EVEN MORE PROMINENT!! oh the band at the end is very good! the electric guitar is really good, gets you in the feels. overall, recommend when your in the mood for some sadder 70’s music.

okay, obviously had to have some Zelda beats in here. fun fact: I’ve never played ocarina of time, but this is actually my favorite zelda song of all time. listening to it slowed is even better. it’s like a whole experience in itself. this song is just okay, it doesn’t come up on my playlist very often, but when it does, it’ s chill. beat is good, and the cover art is a solid 7/10 cuz the clouds are very nice. also like how their blue and gray, very cool. love any zelda song, so this song is nice when you want some background noise while working, and it’s just very chill. recommend when you wanna think about the hero clad in green with the blade of evil’s bane. the slowed version is so good, so i’ll link it down below!

OMG THE BEAT IS INCREDIBLE!!! this time, it’s actually from the movie because i like that version better, and the dudes singing in the background are so good! there’s actually this version on YouTube that every time it gets to the chorus it slows down and gets deeper (linking it below)!! lyrics are so good!! i recommend this song if you want to blast this in the car at peak volume, belting out the lyrics. the piano is soooooo good, very funky. cover art is 9/10, love whatever the fake falling thing is that is happening lol 😂 the ending is my favorite it’s so good omg 😆 and the back and forth between sky and sophie is so good!!! and when they sing together?? perfection!!

i absolutely love this song. the saxophone is so good in this. don’t play it myself, but gosh do i love it. also, the intro is long, really good. the beat is nice, drums and the piano is so complimenting. like i said in my last music sharing post, i love jazzy older tunes, and this is fits that so perfectly. and don’t even get me started on louis armstrong’s voice. its so nice and raspy, cool and calm over the music. omgggg 😌 the lyrics are so lovely. cover art is a solid 10/10, he looks so happy and i love how he’s smiling into the microphone, he’s just straight up vibing in this pic. ALSO THE SAX COMES BACK AT THE END SUPER POWERFUL AND AWESOME, IT’S GREAT!!! recommend this for when you are dancing with your lover in the middle of your living room at twilight.

this is in my playlist because of Unus Annus lol 😂 i also just like the song in general (without associating it with Unus Annus). it’s just one of those songs that you can listen to when you need a pick me up or an inspirational moment. i really like it, the guitar is very nice, acoustics sound so good. love the chorus and the ending! cover art is pretty cool, solid, and it actually represents each member of the band and how they are different from each other (which is so cool, can’t even tell you how cool that is), so 10/10, really like the filter on it too! this song feels like one that you listen to when you’ve overcome something in your life and you are super proud of yourself! recommend to blast in car during the summer with the windows down as the sun sets. also really like counting stars from them, recommend listening to that one too!

mkay, lover mxmtoon. i haven’t listen to any of her other songs, but this one is really good! i like the ukulele and snapping, very nice. her voice is so pretty, very nice with the song! i really like the lyrics and it also feels like a song you would have on a movie during the character’s like embarrassing moment at prom during the movie or something like that lol 😂 (like punch falls on them or something). i really like the cover art for this one, 9/10. the masks in the background are funky and cool! this is nicely paced, more on the faster side but still really good. recommend listening to this when you just want a chill song with some feels in the middle of the night while you stare up at your ceiling.

gosh, i love this song. the beats and the drums in the back?? yes. it’s sad, and i really like how it’s not paced too slow. Kina’s voice is very nice, I love how his voice clashes nicely with the music, very nice. as i said before, i like sad songs, and this hits the spot. the lyrics are really nice, and the cover art is very cool, solid 9/10. like the blurry thing happening. recommend listening to on a late night car drive.
